, 49, of Montpelier, died Dec. 29. Born in 1948 in Silver Spring, MD, he was the son of Walter and Ethel Goldfinger. He moved to Vermont in 1968 and graduated from Goddard College. He worked as a cabinet maker and furniture designer and founded Union Woodworks and later Wall/Goldfinger. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Fein; a daughter, Becky; his mother; a brother; nieces, nephews and cousins.

, 73, of Montpelier, died Dec. 29. Born in 1924 in Websterville, she was the daughter of Alex and Winifred (McLaughlin) Nadeau. She graduated from Spaulding High School and from Sheldon Hairdressing Academy in Burlington. In 1948, she married Carl Vivian, who died in 1976. She operated Evelyn's Beauty Shop from her home for over 40 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Montpelier and of Rob Morris Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include a daughter, Dianne (Vivian) Trombley; two sons, Thomas and William; one sister; three brothers; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

, 75, of Graniteville and more recently of Northampton, Mass., died Dec. 28. Born in 1921 in Graniteville, she was the daughter of Donald and Stella (Morrison) MacAskill. She attended schools in South Barre and Williamstown and received training at the National Youth Administration in Barre. In 1944, she married David Moberg, who died in November, 1997. In early years she had worked in the hot lunch program in Williamstown and as a domestic worker in Barre and Williamstown. She was employed at a parachute factory in Connecticut during WWII. She also worked in a nursing home in Florence, Mass. Survivors include two daughters, Eileen K. Premo and Catherine Ebel; a son, Peter; seven grandchildren; four brothers; nieces, nephews and cousins.

, 92, of Royalton and formerly of Sharon, died Dec. 27. Born in 1904 in Ryerson Township, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of Walter and Rosanna (Boadway) Judd. She attended schools in Ontario and moved to Sharon in 1927. She worked at Durkee Meat Market and Brooksie's Diner, both in Sharon, during the 50s and 60s. In 1931, she married Earl F. Durkee, who died in 1970. Survivors include a son, Mark; four daughters, Sylvia Walker, Ivy Tabor, Emma Rikert and Dorothy Moody; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She attended schools in Ashville (N.C.) and graduated from Biltmore High School in Biltmore, N.C. She worked at Biltmore Press and in 1935, married Irving Rikert, who died in 1991. They operated farms in Sharon, Strafford and South Royalton. She was a member of the United Church Federated in South Royalton. Survivors include a son, Roy; three daughters, Shirley Robinson, Betty Reynolds and Barbara Mirando; a brother; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

In 1929, she married Gerald Badger Sr. She was employed as a domestic in the Hardwick area and later by the Hardwick Ware Knitters and the Hazen Union School lunch program. She attended the United Church of Hardwick. Survivors include two sons, Gerald Jr. and Woodrow; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

, 92, formerly of Barre and more recently of Great Neck, N.Y., died Dec. 27. Born in 1905 in La Cavada, Spain, she was the daughter of Hilario and Petra (Garcia) Ortiz. Her family moved to Montpelier in 1907 and she later lived in Bethel and Northfield. She attended Northfield schools and graduated from Northfield High School. She also attended Goddard Seminary in Barre. In 1940, she married Ezra White, who died in 1960. She had worked at National Life Insurance Co. and later at Rexall Pharmacy in Barre. She was also a ward clerk at the Central Vermont Hospital. She was a member of the Barre Universalist Church. Survivors include a son, John; a daughter, Linda (Mrs. Donald) Smith; a granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

, 93, of Barre, died Dec. 26. Born in 1904 in Mainz, Germany, she was the daughter of Oscar and Paula Bach. She received the equivalent of a two-year college education in Germany. In 1937, she emigrated to the United States. She had lived in New York City until September of 1997, when she moved to Lincoln House. She had been a governess and companion to a family of German immigrants. Survivors include two sons, Gunther and Peter; a sister; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nephews.

His family moved to Vermont when he was five years old. He attended St. Monica School and graduated from Spaulding High School. In 1946, he married Hazel McLean. He had been employed by the L.D. Hutchins Insulation Co. in Barre. He worked at Don Grant Siding Co. in Newport, retiring in 1985. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church in Newport. Survivors include two sons, John and Bob; four daughters, Judy Nokes, Nancy Collins, Kathy Ayer and Karen Otterman; two brothers; two sisters; his companion, Carlita Pelkey; 20 grandchildren.

He worked for Farrell Distributing in Montpelier and Burlington. He relocated to Florida, where he was a professor of computer sciences at Keiser College. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, John Vogels; his father and stepmother, Deanne; grandmothers, Jane Carey and Maxine Gould; grandfather, John Bailey; great-grandmother, Edith Carey; aunts and uncles.

She received her early education in Barre schools and graduated from Spaulding High School. She received her bachelor of science degree in home economics from Trinity College and continued her studies at St. Michael's College and the University of Vermont. She entered the Sisters of Mercy of Vermont and professed her vows in 1931. She taught at Cathedral Grammar School and Cathedral High School in Burlington, St. Monica School and Marian High School in Barre and later at Mount St. Mary's and Trinity College in Burlington. Survivors include her sisters in religion, Sisters of Mercy of Vermont; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Horace H. Duke and second husband, Albert Meyers. She taught elementary school in Calais and later taught music in Calais and Woodbury schools. She also worked as a supervisor for the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the East Calais Church. Survivors include a son, David Duke; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister; nieces and nephews.
