, 55, of Tunbridge, died Oct. 14. Born in 1943 in Rutland, he was the son of Paul and Helen (Stearns) Stratton. He attended schools in Bethel and graduated from Whitcomb High School. In 1962, he married Linda Seymour. In 1977, he married Betsy McPhetres. He was a printer for Beacon Printing in Randolph, Spaulding Press in Bethel and The Herald in Randolph. He was also a logger, sold life insurance and owned and operated the Montgomery Ward Catalogue Store in Randolph. He was also employed at Fyles and Rice Lumber Co. in Bethel and Seymour Roofing Co. in Stockbridge. Survivors include his mother; his wife; two sons, Paul Stratton III and Brett LaFave; two daughters, Tammy McPhetres and Chandra Stratton; two foster children, Pandora Ingham and Tammy Menzel; two sisters; nine grandchildren.

, 95, of Montpelier, died Oct. 13. Born in 1903 in Plymouth, she was the daughter of Edward and Edna (Moore) Blanchard. She attended Black River Academy in Ludlow. In 1923, she married Raymond Brown, who died in 1989. She moved to Heaton Woods Assisted Living Facility in Montpelier in 1995. Survivors include a brother, Bryron Blanchard; a son-in-law; two granddaughters; several nieces.

, 83, of Barre, died Oct. 11. Born in 1915 in St. Patrick de Beaurivage, Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of Auguste and Nathalie (Croteau) Gagne. She lived in Canada and attended schools there. In 1936, she married Edward Gagne, who died in 1974. She became a U.S. citizen in 1946 and had lived in the Barre area most of he life. She was a member of the St. Monica Church. Survivors include a son, Henry; four daughters, JoAnn (Mrs. Donald) Ordway, Judith (Mrs. Adelard) Benoit, Marilyn (Mrs. John) Brennan and Patricia (Mrs. Robert) George; two sisters; many nieces and nephews.

, 45, of South Barre, died Oct. 10. Born in 1953 in Rutland, he was the son of Edward and Florence (Myrick) Seager. He attended elementary school in Barre Town, Spaulding High School and U-32 Jr./Sr. H.S. He had been a custodial worker at Malden Mills in Websterville and at Thunder Road. He also did carpentry work and worked at Crossways Motors in Berlin. He attended the Christian Science Church in Barre. Survivors include his mother; a sister, Meridith Henes; a niece and nephew; cousins and an aunt.

, 76, of Waterbury and Medfield, Mass., died Oct. 8. Born in 1923 in Waterbury, she was the daughter of Lionel and Rosa (Lawrence) Culver. She graduated from Waterbury High School. In 1942, she married Paul Hurd. She had worked for Turner and Vincent Drug Store. Survivors include her husband; nine children, Paula Dill, Robert Hurd, Jay Hurd, Gregory Hurd, Kerry Hurd, Monica Heath, Maria Brown, Teri Scollard and Nona Hurd; a sister; seven grandchildren.

He attended schools in Andover, Mass. and graduated from Boston University with a bachelor's in English literature. In 1984, he married Stephanie Ashworth. He worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles as a hearing examiner until shortly before his death. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lindsay Krauss and Mariah Krauss; a step-daughter, Cecile Conrad; his mother; two brothers; a sister; nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins.

He retired in 1980 from the Building Department of the state of Vermont. Survivors include a daughter, Eugenie Estell; two brothers; two sisters; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

, Jr., of Montpelier, died Sept. 19. He was born the son of Albert Chandler and Eva (Wiles) Bliss. He graduated from Montpelier High School and received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from St. Lawrence University. He had served in the Army. He was a director of volunteer services for New York State Department of Mental Hygiene in N.Y., retiring in 1996 and was active in the First Presbyterian Church in Smithtown, N.Y. Survivors include three aunts, Esther Somas, Isabel Edison and Eleanor Pecue; an uncle, Albert Niles; many cousins.

In 1982, she married Alan Drury, who also predeceased her. Survivors include a son, Timothy Sample; a grandson and a granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

, 84, of Barre, died Oct. 13. Born in 1913 in Springfield, Ill., he was the son of Salvador and Adele (Buzzi) Monti. The family moved to Barre in 1917, where he attended elementary school and Spaulding High School. In 1938, he married Ruth Cameron. He became a police officer in Barre in 1941. He graduated from the FBI National Police Academy, the Maryland State Police Academy, Harvard University's Medico-Legal Seminar in Homicide Investigation, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission School of Protection Problems, Northeastern University's Seminar in Human Relations, the Kodak and Lecia School of Law Enforcement Photography and the Vermont Highway Patrol School. During his tenure he was a troop commander, director of training, public information officer, superintendent of the Identification, Records and Crime Laboratory and chief of staff services. After retirement, he established his own business as a traffic accident and safety consultant. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cheryl Bordas; four sons, Andrew, Bruce, Robert and Harry; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

, 79, of Barre, died Oct. 29. Born in 1919 in Barre, he was the son of James Stewart and Pauline Darling (Waterson). He graduated from Spaulding High School, Mt. Hermon and Colgate University. He began employment at the family owned granite firm of Marr & Gordon and in 1941 enlisted in the Army. After discharge in 1946, he returned to Barre and employment at Marr & Gordon. In 1946, he married Sylvia Friberg, who died in 1989. Marr & Gordon was sold to Rock of Ages, where he became general manager at the Stanstead Granite Company in Canada. He became vice president of Jones Brothers Corp. in Barre in 1967 and in 1980, became the manager of Member Services of the Barre Granite Association, retiring in 1984. Survivors include a daughter, Sally Hynes; two sons, James and Anthony; four grandchildren; two sisters.

, 85, of Barre, died Oct. 29. Born in 1913 in Montpelier, she was the daughter of Martin and Teresa (Healy) Spellacy. In 1919, the family came to Barre where she attended schools. She attended Boston College and in 1939, married Elmer Pruneau. She and her husband owned and operated the Pruneau Funeral Home until 1973. Mr. Pruneau died in 1986. She was a member of St. Monica Church. Survivors include two daughters, Ann (Mrs. Fernand) Peloquin and Diane (Mrs. Robert) Benson; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

She attended schools in Orange and Barre and graduated from Spaulding High School. In 1940, she married Roland Bisson and they moved to Florida in 1978. She was a member of St. Monica Church in Barre and Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City (FL). Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Gloria (Mrs. Ronald) Abare; Rosemary (Mrs. Ronald) Bates and Rachel (Mrs. Roy) Loker; two sons, Leonard and Roland Jr.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister; a half-sister.

He served in the Army during WWII. He worked as an electrician and retired as supervisor of the physical operation and maintenance of the Given Medical Building, UVM. In 1947, she married Nathan Disenhaus. After the death of her husband in 1997, she moved to Barre. She was a member of the Arlington-Fairfax Jewish Congregation in Arlington, VA. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Disenhaus and Helen Disenhaus; a grandson; two brothers; two sisters.

She was married to Philippe Thurneyssen and had lived in Greensboro for the past 12 years. She attended St. Michael's Church and Our Lady of Fatima Church. She was a lister for the town of Greensboro, a member of the Zoning Board and worked with the Greensboro Library. Survivors include her husband; one son, Oliver; one daughter, Joan Gambro; a sister; seven grandchildren.
