, 72, of Northfield, died Aug. 6. Born in 1925 in Johnson, she was the daughter of Walter and Annie (Holcomb) Whitcomb and attended schools in Johnson and Spaulding High School. In 1944, she married Warren Melendy, who died in 1978. She was a homemaker, worked for the Sprague Electric Company and was a member of Hedding United Methodist Church of Barre. Survivors include three sons, Andrew, Stephen and Bruce; four daughters, Sherla Forgette-Melendy, Diane Bishop, Joanne Tremblay and Carole Noury; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother; a step-sister and cousins.

She attended schools in Stowe and was employed as a cook by the Mount Mansfield Co. in Stowe. Survivors include a daughter, Catherine Marshall; two sons, Ray and Roy; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister; nieces and nephews. Her husband, Ralph Marshall, predeceased her.

, 76, of Chelsea, died July 31. Born in 1921 in Plainville, Conn., he was the son of Howard and Mary (Usher) Peck. He attended schools in Connecticut. In 1956, he married Elizabeth Sprague. They operated farms in Roxbury, Williamstown and Fort Ann. He was employed by Agri-Mark Milk Co-op. Survivors include three sons, Lee, Howard and Gregory; three granddaughters; a grandson; several nieces and nephews.

, 75, of Berlin, died Aug. 5. Born in 1922 in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of Giacomo and Giaconda (Capagli) Tosi. He came to Barre in 1935 with his family. He served with the Navy during WWII. In 1947, he married Rita DiBari. He had worked for Beck & Beck Granite Co. and later he purchased Perrin's Custom Sandblast with Charles Calcagni. In 1962, he established Tosi's Custom Sandblast and operated it until retirement in 1989. He was a member of St. Monica Church. Survivors include his wife; two son, Thomas and Todd; a daughter, Lynda Tosi Gaydos; six grandchildren; a brother; a sister; nephews and cousins.

, 86, of Barre, died Aug. 13. Born in 1911 in Barre, he was the son of Adam and Lillie (Philip) Craig. He attended Barre schools, graduating from Spaulding High School. He graduated from Massachusetts State College with an MA in the horticulture program. He had worked at Emslie's Greenhouse and then began a career with the U.S. Post Office in Barre, first as clerk and later as a letter carrier. He retired in 1971. He was a veteran of WWII. In 1945, he married Olivia McKnight. Following his retirement, he and his wife were park managers at Groton State Park and Crystal Lake Park in Groton. He was a member of the Barre Congregational Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, David; a daughter, Priscilla Maxfield; four grandchildren; a brother; two nieces.

He attended the Brandon Training School and enjoyed music, television, reading books and telling Bible stories.
