, 74, longtime summer resident of Calais, died July 12. Born in 1923 in Glen Ridge, N.J., he was the son of Harry and Winona (Miller) Rossiter. He graduated from Jenkintown High School in Jenkintown, PA and received a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Delaware. He served in the Marines during WWII. He had been employed at Minneapolis Honeywell's Industrial Division and later at the Crane Company in Manchester, N.H. In 1966, he began working for Markem Corp., becoming vice president in 1977. He retired in 1990. He had owned a summer home in Maple Corner since 1947. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Donna (Eckstrom) Rossiter; a son, Tod; a daughter, Christine Rossiter; a grandson; nieces and nephews.

, 74, of Barre, died July 14. Born in 1924 in Chelsea, he was the son of Harry and Lela (Burnham) Downing. He attended schools in Chelsea and served in the Army during WWII. He was employed at the Vermont Copper Mines in South Strafford and worked as a carpenter and brick and stone mason. He also operated a fish delivery route and repaired small engines. Survivors include his companion, Esther Johnson; two sisters, Nina Lyford and Mildred Rogers; nieces, nephews and cousins.

, 86, of Barre, died July 11. Born in 1912 in Websterville, she was the daughter of Onisene and Apoline (Arseneau) Marceau. She attended schools in Northfield. In 1932, she married Leo Morel, who died in 1958. She was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. and later in Barre and Montpelier nursing homes. She was a member of St. Monica Parish. Survivors include two sons, Paul and Eugene; four daughters, Marie Louise Joyal, Theresa Lewis, Anita Soucy and Betty Ann Morel; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother; several nieces and nephews.

, 68, of Waterbury Center, died July 17. Born in 1931 in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of Louis and Celia (Cohen) Adler. She attended schools in Brooklyn, moving to Vermont after graduation. In 1949, she married Stanley Copeland, who died in 1986. She had worked as a waitress, a bookkeeper and more recently as a secretary for the Vermont State Forest and parks, retiring in 1997. Survivors include a daughter, Jodi Grout; a son, Stanley; five grandchildren; a sister; nieces and nephews.

, 91, of Montpelier, died July 11. Born in 1907 in Benabbio Province of Tuscany, Italy, he was the son of John and Caterina (Tolemei) Giuliani. He immigrated to the United States and settled in Barre in 1912. He graduated from Montpelier High School and was employed by Marr and Gordon granite manufacturers in Barre. He later read law with attorney Fred Gleason and was admitted to the Vermont Bar in 1928. He had several years of private practice before joining the law department at National Life Insurance Co. He retired in 1971. He had served in the Marine Corps, served in the Vermont General Assembly and as judge of the Montpelier Municipal Court. In 1943, he married Pauline Provost, who died in 1985. Survivors include two sons, J. Paul and Peter A.; six grandchildren.

, 94, of East Montpelier, died July 10. Born in 1903 in Chelsea, Mass., she was the daughter of William and Annie (Brooks) Moody. She was educated in Chelsea schools. In 1924, she married George Morrison, who died in 1963. She was the senior activities director at the Woonsocket, R.I. YWCA and was active in the Woonsocket Baptist Church. She retired in 1973 and moved to East Montpelier. Survivors include a son, Alan; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She attended schools in Barre, graduating from Spaulding High School and later from the University of Vermont. Her husband, Comer Francis Moore, died in 1986. She taught at Peacham Academy and was a member of Peacham Congregational Church. Survivors include three sons, Stephen, Kenneth and Donald; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She graduated from Colorado University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and later earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Plattsburgh State University and a master's degree from the University of Buffalo. In 1953, she married Alfred Smith, who died in 1959. She had worked for the Atomic Energy Commission and for Monsanto. She was employed as a school psychologist at the Lewiston Porter School in Lewiston, N.Y. and retired in 1986 and moved to Waitsfield. Survivors include a daughter, Susan (Smith) Wade; a granddaughter, Emma Elizabeth; a brother, Irving Barth Jr.

He was employed by the Demeritt Co. in Waterbury, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Waterbury Congregational Church. He had been moderator for the town of Duxbury and a representative to the Vermont State Legislature. Survivors include a son, Wade; a daughter, Barbara Marshall; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law; nieces and nephews.

In 1948, she married George C. Walker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Barre. He served in the Navy. In 1950, he married Lorita Dustin. He worked at Sharon Trading Post, at Cone Automatic Machine Co. and was a farmer in Stafford. He also operated the Hartford Shell Station, was a mechanic for L.L. Reed farm machinery and drove mail truck for Daniels Trucking Lebanon, N.H. He was a member of the Sharon Volunteer Fire Dept. and had served as road commissioner. Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard Jr.; two brothers; three grandchildren.
