, 90, Peacham, passed away on May 22, 2009, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, N.H. Zoltan was born in Dorypatlan, Hungary, on March 11, 1919, to Aladar and Iren (Paulay) Forrai. He was a graduate of the Hungarian Military Academy and was an officer in the Hungarian cavalry. He fled Hungary when the Communists took over the country in 1945. After spending about ten years in Austria and Canada, he settled in the United States, where he was able to fulfill his dream of establishing a horseback riding school and riding camp. Many students will remember his firm but friendly way and his strong personality. He is survived by Hertha (Steinmetz) Forrai, his wife of 42 years, and many loving relatives in Europe. Zoltan was proud to be an American citizen, while at the same time holding on to his old-world style and manners. He shall be missed. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on June 6, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Danville, with Father Patrick Furman officiating. , 67, of North Danville passed away at DHMC in Lebanon, N.H., after a period of failing health. He was born in Barton on July 26, 1941, the son of Francis J. and Myrtie (Patrick) LaBounty. His mother later married John Beaulieu. Ray was a home care provider for Human Services and took great satisfaction in caring for his clients. He was also one of the first drivers for RCT. In his younger years he was in business with his brother-in-law, Ronald Daigle, doing masonry. He had previously worked at EHV Weidmann. He and Leah had also run their own cleaning business. His family will always remember him answering the phone "Howdy, howdy!" He is survived by his wife Leah (Couture) LaBounty of North Danville (PO Box 541, St. J. 05819); four children, Myrtie Alexander of Bedford, Ky., Raymond LaBounty Jr. and Cathy Demers of St. Johnsbury, Beulah Nichols and husband Jim of St. Johnsbury, Lee LaBounty of North Danville; 10 grandchildren Jimmy and Darren; Raymond III, Richard, and Ross; Kaeleigh, Jake, and Kelsea; Jim and Keith; and one great-granddaughter, Darren's daughter Alaina Rae. He is also survived by a brother Robert LaBounty of Meridenm, Conn.; four sisters Marion Griffin and Beverly LaBounty both residing at Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton, Pauline Shafer of Bedford, Rachel Daigle of Granville, N.Y., and her husband Ronald Daigle, a very special brother-in-law; step-brother, Leo Beaulieu of St. Johnsbury; nieces and nephews; and Barbara O'Connell who made her home, and still does, with the LaBountys. He was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth and (just yesterday) Richard; and a sister Dorothy Morgan. Funeral services will be held this Saturday at 1 p.m. at the North Danville Baptist Church. The pastor, the Rev. Robert H. Sargent, will officiate. Committal services will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in St. Johnsbury. , age 97, North Haverhill, N.H., passed away on May 24 at the Grafton County Nursing Home. Thelma was born on Nov. 14, 1911, a daughter to Herbert D. and Maude (Clark) Shepardson in Fairfax. She graduated from Champlain College in Burlington. Thelma worked at the Lane Press in Burlington until moving to Littleton, N.H., in 1944, at which time she worked at the Depot Store until it sold. She then ran a private Secretarial Service. Thelma was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Surviving family members include two brothers, Dennison W. Shepardson of Long Island, N.Y., and Samuel C. and his wife, Virginia Shepardson of Storrs, Conn.; two sisters, Jeanette and her husband, Merlyn Beckley of Morrisville, and Jean and her husband, Paul Tibbetts of Bristol, Conn.; her cousins, Francis Clark of Saxtons River, and Bernard and his wife, Betty Clark of Sheldon, as well as her special neighbors and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers; three sisters; and her husband Cedric Loop in 1941. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, May 27, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Pillsbury Funeral Home located at 101 Union Street in Littleton. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Sam Newton officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington. , 84, Westboro, Mass., passed away April 30 surrounded by family at Beaumont Skilled Nursing Home where she had resided for the past 3.5 years. Her beloved husband of 63 years Leonard W. Hopkins died in 2006 and her family takes great comfort in Connie and Len's eternal reunion in Heaven. She leaves four children, Richard L. Hopkins of Holland, Mass.; Douglas B. Hopkins of East Haven, Conn.; Deborah L. Vorce and her husband Raymond of New Castle, N.H.; and Suzanne H. McDonough and her husband William of Framingham, Mass. She also leaves 10 treasured grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren whom she adored. Born and raised in Lyndonville, Connie was the daughter of Marguerite (Carr) and Garold Batchelder. Together with Len she raised their family in Lexington and later Groton, Mass. After Len retired from Raytheon Co., they lived at Covenant Village in Conn.; then returned to Lyndonville for a few years before moving to Massachusetts to be near family. Connie's love of family, hearth and home, and the Lord Jesus Christ were at the core of her person. Other passions included cooking, sewing, flea marketing and music. A memorial service will be held for family at the annual Hopkins reunion in Westmore this summer. , 46, of California, died Sunday May 24, 2009, at Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, Calif., following complications with cancer, with his mother and dear friend, Debbie, by his side. He was born Nov. 5, 1962, in St. Johnsbury, the son of Raymond and Pauline (Greenwood) St. Hilaire. The St. Hilaire family moved to Florida in 1973 where Shane graduated from Lake Worth High School. He lived in Florida until 2007 when he moved to California. Shane worked many years as a self employed hardwood flooring installation specialist, with his company name of Elite Flooring. A sport enthusiast and devoted Patriot's fan, he was able to see the Patriot's play the San Diego Chargers in San Diego in October 2008, as well as the Red Sox in Los Angeles. He loved trout fishing, golfing, playing cards, and watching old western movies as a quiet pastime. Following in his dad's footsteps, vegetable gardening was a source of joy and contentment for him. Creative cooking, especially chicken dishes, was always a pleasure to him. He created his own recipes and was honored to have his creations included on the menus of some of the restaurants where he had been previously employed. He also had a love of animals, especially his best friend, Border collie "Brady." His sense of humor and loving smile will never be forgotten. Survivors include his son, Christopher St. Hilaire of Palm Springs, Fla.; his companion, Debbie Bellanca of Beaumont, Calif.; his mother, Pauline St. Hilaire of St. Johnsbury; his sister, Susan Brasmar and husband William of Lake Worth, Fla.; and many cousins, Aunts, and Uncles. He was predeceased by his father, Raymond St. Hilaire in 2001; his maternal grandparents, Clifford and Virginia Greenwood and step-grandmother Jeanette Wheelock; and his paternal grandparents Edmund and Diana St. Hilaire. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at 11 a.m., at Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Johnsbury, with the Rev. Patrick Forman officiating. , of St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 25, 2009, at the age of 69. She was born June 14, 1939, in Newport, the daughter of Charles and Iola Jacobs. She grew up and attended schools in Derby. She studied music at Nyack College, despite being born with a severe handicap. Following college, she moved to Burlington where she worked in the rehabilitation office of Dr. Milhous at the DeGoesbriand Hospital. After marrying Leo Mossey, Jr., Carol Ann and Leo moved to Florida where the climate made it easier to be mobile. They remained there until Leo's death, having enjoyed more than 25 years of marriage. Carol Ann was an encouragement to all who knew her. She made the best of all her frailties and was a loving and caring person. She took special interest in her nieces and nephews, inviting them to come visit her during school vacations. Her faith and commitment to Christ was most important to her. She was also a gifted pianist and spent many hours with family singing around her. In April of 2007 Carol Ann made the move back to her home state and lived at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center until her death. There she enjoyed her new friends, especially her roommate, Doris Paige. She is survived by one sister, Betty Jean Foster, and husband Robert, of Cocoa, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Courtland (Joe) Goss (who took wonderful care of her over the years); a sister-in-law, Mary Jacobs; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored her. She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, baby Esther and Shirley J. Goss; and one brother, Charles Eldon Jacobs. A memorial service will be held at St. J. Health and Rehab on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at 2 p.m. The Rev. William Cotte will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made in Carol Ann's memory to St. J. Health and Rehab's Activities Fund.

Darlene graduated from Lake Region High School in 1987. She was a longtime employee of Murphy Realty and The Comfort Inn in St. Johnsbury. Darlene enjoyed being a wife, mom, sister and aunt. Playing Bingo, going to the ocean and spending time with her friends. She spent a majority of her life helping those less fortunate than she was. Darlene was predeceased by her father Maurice and her lifetime friend Dan Horner. , 61, of Second Street, Lancaster, N.H., died suddenly Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon. Mr. Walther was born on Nov. 14, 1947, in Albany, N.Y., the son of Stanley L. Walther Sr. and Anne T. (O'Bryan) Walther. He was raised and lived in New York until 1973 when he moved with his family to New Hampshire. For many years he worked plumbing and heating for Stiles Fuel in Whitefield, N.H. More recently he was a driver for North Country Transit. Stanley enjoyed music, motorcycles, fishing and the New York Yankees. He was also an enthusiastic member of the morning coffee club at Ray & Deb's in Lancaster. Family members include his wife Catherine J. (Harrington) Walther of Lancaster; two sons, Nathaniel D. Walther of Lunenburg, and Andrew Z. Walther of Lancaster; two daughters, Amy Lee Reed of Dalton, and Erin C. Rivera of North Carolina; his mother Anne T. Walther of Albany, N.Y.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Walther and Ronald Walther both of New York; two sisters, Diane Dinova and Maureen Smith both of New York; and many nieces and nephews. , 55, died at his home in Bethlehem, N.H., on May 25, 2009. Steve managed the Littleton office of Congressman Paul Hodes, a career path that combined his interests in civic issues and advancing reasonable public dialogue. An active participant in local government, Steve served on the Bethlehem Planning Board for 13 years, one term on the Board of Selectmen and most recently on the Profile School Board. He was the recipient of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation's North Country Community Service Award in 2005. Born Jan. 23, 1954, to Henry and Edith Huntington, he grew up in the Boston area, graduating from Milton Academy in 1972 and from Beloit College in 1978. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; children Dan and Eliza; brother Jon of Wayne, Maine; sister Anne Gannon of Dublin, Ireland; brother Richard of Denver, Colo.; and many adoring cousins, nieces, nephews and his loyal dog Shadow. A celebration of Steve's life will be held on Sunday, June 21, at 2 p.m. at The Rock's Estate in Bethlehem. , 87, formerly of Groveton, N.H., died peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at of Country Village-Genesis Elder Care Center, were he has been a resident since 2005. Born in Glensutton, Canada, a son of Frank and Ruth (Bell) Tisdale he was raised in Rochester, N.H., and lived most of his life in Groveton. Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran serving his country during WWII. Before retiring in 1983 Bill worked as an oiler for Groveton Papers. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and driving around. He is survived by his daughter Bonnie Gilchrist and husband Dave of Lewiston, Maine; son Cecile Tisdale and wife Gert of Groveton; seven grandchildren and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife Rita on Aug. 10, 1990; daughter Karen Fysh on Sept. 27, 2003; and a son William Tisdale in 1972. , 77, Lunenburg, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009. Lloyd was born in Lancaster, N.H., on June 30, 1931, the son of Glenn P. and Eva (Boudreau) Lewis. Family members include his children, Deborah Thomas and her husband Edson of Lunenburg, Joan Lyon and her husband Roy of East Concord, Vt., Crystal Lewis of Lunenburg, Terry Mark Lewis of Bethlehem, N.H., Karen Lewis of Lunenburg; one brother Paul E. Lewis of East Boston, Mass.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and Mary Jane Billings of Murrells Inlet, S.C. He was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl Ann Lewis; a great-grandson Brayden Tolf; and the mother of his children Beatrice Lewis. There are no visiting hours. of Danville passed away Friday, May 29, 2009, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center at the age of 87. She was born in Danville on March 12, 1922, to Howard and Alice Calkins. She was a graduate of Danville High School and Champlain College. After she married Paul, she spent the first 24 years of their marriage supporting her husband throughout the world in the military. She was very active civically wherever she lived. Upon retirement from the military, the Sevignys returned home to Danville and were the proprietors of the Diamond Hill Cabins for 15 years. She remained a member of the glider pilots auxiliary throughout her life. Marion was a loyal and dedicated employee for Mr. Bruce Corrette. She worked for him for over 40 years, starting at Smith, Batchelder, & Rugg and continuing with that firm which is now Corrette and Associates. The Town of Danville meant a great deal to both Marion and Paul; the preservation of their community was always important to them. She had a civic hand in many Danville affairs, serving on the Danville Historical Society, as a Danville selectperson, on its zoning board and the cemetery commission. She was past president of the Pope Memorial Library, member of the Danville United Methodist Church, and the Diamond Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She was past president of the not only the St. Johnsbury Business and Professional Women's' club, but also served state-wide as President. She was a NVRH corporator and volunteered with the hospital auxiliary. She also served the Red Cross and Girl scouts over the years. She was active in the Republican Party. She was predeceased in death by her husband Paul and her brother Leland Calkins. She is survived by brother Roy Calkins of Danville, Paul Calkins and wife Rita of Lyndonville, Carmen Calkins of Danville, Zana Tauriainen and husband Marvin of Chapel Hill, N.C.; many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Danville United Methodist Church. The pastor, the Rev. Henry Cheney, will officiate. Family committal services at the Danville Green Cemetery will be held at 10 a.m. prior to the service. Please omit flowers. , 70, of Barnet, died on Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury. He was born in Elizabeth, N.J., April 12, 1939, the son of George M. and Lorraine (Waeterling) Linzer. Doug graduated from SUNY in Delhi, N.Y., and the Missouri Auction School. He was married to Wanda Crawford on Dec. 26, 1964. In his early working career he was a self employed dairy farmer in New York State. Upon moving to Vermont in 1976, he was an auctioneer and ran a weekly sale in South Ryegate. He opened the Furniture Outlet in South Ryegate in the early 1980s. Doug was a passionate golfer and a former member at the St. Johnsbury Country Club. He was a member of the Christian Science Church in Boston, Mass. He was predeceased by his father, George M. Linzer and his mother, Lorraine W. Stryker on Feb. 20, 2007. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Wanda Linzer of Barnet; two daughters, Deborah Smith of Westminister, Md., and Beverly Jenkins of Weare, N.H.; three grandchildren, Amanda Smith, Daniel Jenkins, and Matthew Jenkins. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Future Farmers of America or to the 4-H.
