, 86, of Bethel, died Dec. 14. Born in 1913 in East Braintree, he was the son of Henry and Jesse (Bingham) White. He attended schools in Hancock and South Royalton. In 1936, he married Florice Benedict, who died in 1991. He was a self-employed logger, a boiler room operator for Fyles and Rice in Bethel and a machine tester at Cone Automatic in Windsor. He was a member of the Miller Memorial Methodist Church in Bethel. Survivors include a daughter, Jane Huntley; three sons, Danny, Gerry and Thomas; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

, 100, of Montpelier, died Dec. 14. Born in 1899 in Ann Arbor, MI, he was the son of Samuel and Lena (Calkins) Stegeman. He graduated from Central High School in Lansing, MI and from Michigan State College with a BS in Zoology. He received his Masters Degree in Mammalogy from the University of Michigan. In 1929, he married Gertrude Calhoun, who died in 1961. In 1964, he married Edna Rands Kelley, who died in 1986. He was an instructor of Zoology at the New York State College of Forestry at Syracuse University, retiring in 1965. He served in the Michigan State Troops during WWI and with the ROTC and Army Reserves and the Army during WWII. Survivors include a daughter, Wilma Kelley; a son, Richard Stegeman; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

, 77, of Barre City, died Dec. 14. Born in 1922 in Barre, he was the son of Capriano and Gloria (Calvo) Usle. He attended schools in Barre and was a graduate of Spaulding High School. He served with the Army Air Corps. He worked throughout the northern New England area in the plumbing and pipe fitting trade, retiring in 1984. In 1946, he married Theresa Tousignant. He was a member of St. Monica Church. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Linda LaFlower; two sons, Michael and Steven; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters; many nieces and nephews.

He was an electrician and worked for Peck Electric in Williston. He was a member of the Baptist Fellowship in Randolph. Her family came to Barre where she attended schools and graduated from Spaulding High School. She worked for National Life of Vermont, the People's Bank and later for the family-owned businesses, D.M. Miles and Twin City Fuels. More recently she was employed by the Homer Fitts Company in Barre. In 1950, she married Vincent Sassone Sr. She was a member of the Barre Congregational Church. Survivors include her husband; her daughters, Paula Hall, Carol Sassone, Joann Sassone; her son, Vincent; three grandchildren; one sister; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He had operated the Boardway and Cilley Funeral Home in Chelsea since 1953 and also operated the Boardway and Cilley Ambulance Service in the Central Vermont Valley. He was a past Emergency Medical Technician. Memberships included the Tunbridge Volunteer Fire Department and the Tunbridge Congregational Church. He had held many Town of Tunbridge offices. Survivors include his wife; a son, Denis P.; three daughters, Susan Barnaby, Patricia Ladd and Brenda Charlton; a sister; six grandchildren; three step-grandsons; two nephews; several cousins and an aunt.

His career in state government included serving as steward and business director of the State Hospital in Waterbury, state purchasing agent until 1960 and was named commissioner of the Department of Administration, serving under both governors Stafford and Keyser. His last employment was in the capacity of director of the Office of Local Affairs. He retired in 1970. In 1935, he married Priscilla Miles, who died in 1959. In 1962, he married Elva Casellini. Survivors include his wife; a step-son, Larry; three grandsons; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
