, 86, formerly of Barre, died April 25. Born in 1912 in Barre, he was the son of Benjamin and Irene (Bridge) Dexter. He attended schools in Topsham. In 1933, he married Bessie Minor, who died in 1995. He was a farmer and logger and later worked for the Vermont State Highway Department, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Thetford. Survivors include a son, Kenneth; five daughters, Dorothy Dyke, Leona Spooner, Phyllis Berthlaume, Lorraine Carbino and Beverly Vaughan; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a brother; four sisters.

, 91, of Montpelier, died April 23. Born in 1908 in West Danville, she was the daughter of Fred and Amanda (Hawkins) McCosco. She graduated from Danville High School and attended Johnson Normal School. In 1927, she married Marshall I. Staples, who died in 1995. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Helen Gomez, Martha Tanner and Kay White; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

He operated a farm, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Sylvester's Church in Graniteville. Survivors include two brothers, Antoine Landry and Joseph Landry; a sister, Eliza (Mrs. Charles) Chapman; nieces and nephews.

, 74, formerly of Montpelier and more recently of Bethesda, Md., died March 14. Born in 1925 in Montpelier, she was the daughter of Mary (Macaulay) and Perley Jerd. She graduated from Montpelier High School and served in the WAVES during WWII. In 1955, she married Robert Minnich. She was a medical secretary at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Md. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Bethesda. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mary Sinker and Beth Minnich; a son, John; two grandchildren; a sister; a brother.

He graduated from Spaulding High School and attended Greenfield College in Greenfield, Mass., Northeastern University in Boston and graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in forestry. His wife, Judith Ann (Kelley) McLeod, died in 1995. He had lived in Fryeburg, Maine and had moved to Barre in 1995. He had been employed by Allpoints as a long distance truck driver and had worked as a forester in Maine. Survivors include a son, James; two sisters, Elaine Wagner and Janet Santin; several nieces and nephews; an aunt, uncle and several cousins.

, 94, of Randolph, died April 30. Born in 1905 in Mooers Falls, N.Y., she was the daughter of Henry and Emma (Longtin) Dominy. She was educated in Mooers Forks. In 1924, she married Isaac LaValley, who died in 1966. She was a former member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mooers Forks, Sts. Donatian and Rogatian Church in Randolph and St. Matthew's Church in South Royalton. Survivors include two daughters, Irene Chase and Helena Bowen; a son, Armand; a sister; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.

, 89, of Craftsbury, died May 2. Born in 1910 in Walden, he was the son of Joseph and Myrlie (Wilcox) Houston. He attended Walden schools and was a farmer in Walden until 1944 when he bought a farm in Craftsbury. He operated that farm until retiring in 1966. In 1936, he married Beatrice Corrow, who died in 1992. He was a member of the United Church of Craftsbury, had served on the Craftsbury Board of Selectmen and was a justice of the peace. Survivors include three daughters, Ruth (Mrs. Ronald) Curtiss, Shirley Benway and Thelma (Mrs. Richard) Bloom; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother; four sisters; a special friend; nieces and nephews.

He served in the Air Corps during WWII. He was employed as a sheet metal worker for Vermont Heat and later constructing heat duct installation for the St. Johnsbury Correctional Center. He retired in the early 1980s. He had various jobs in the Randolph area and most recently was a taxi and limousine driver in White River Junction. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Don and Avis Rogers; a son, Kevin; a daughter, Lisa Rogers; a stepbrother; a half-brother; a half-sister; a grandson.

In 1943, he married Glennis M. Aldrich. He was employed as a sawyer at Waldron-Sheild Granite Co. of Barre and later at Peerless Granite Co. He retired in 1976. He had also worked at St. Sylvester Cemetery as sexton until 1984. He was a member of the St. Sylvester Church in Graniteville. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Michael, Paul, Gregory, Gary, Stephen; a daughter, Colleen Donahue; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters; nieces and nephews.

He had worked for Mad River Glen and Sugarbush Resort and later for the Vermont State Police. He served as a liquor inspector for the Vermont State Liquor Control and worked at the Vermont State Hospital, Whitcomb Woods and for the COTS program. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Daniel and Donald; two daughters, Lisa Cota and Shelley Barrett; a sister; two brothers; seven grandchildren; aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Most recently, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Dennis Marshall. Survivors include his wife; his mother; a daughter, Trisa Niven; two sons, Edward and Brian; a step-daughter, Jody Leonard; a sister; a brother; three granddaughters and a grandson; three nieces.

, 97, of Montpelier, died May 6. Born in 1901 in East Calais, she was the daughter of Abner and Martha Mae (Ainsworth) Wilbur. She was educated in East Calais schools and graduated from Montpelier Seminary. In 1928, she married Frank Baldwin, who died in 1956. In 1960, she married Elywin Thomas, who died in 1996. She had been a school teacher in Lower Cabot, Middlesex and East Montpelier. She worked in the actuary department of National Life Insurance Co., retiring in 1963. Survivors include a nephew, Ruben Wilbur; a niece, Grace Liley.
