, 92, of Montpelier, died Aug. 14. Born in 1905 in East Montpelier, she was the daughter of Frank Doying and May (Inez) Doying. She graduated from Waterbury High School. In 1928, she married Robert Pierce, who died in 1979. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Donald and William; a daughter, May Chapin; a brother; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

, 78, of Williamstown, died Aug. 12. Born in 1918 in Williamstown, she was the daughter of Charles and Ethel (DeFreest) Riddel. She graduated from Williamstown High School and from the University of Vermont with a degree in elementary education. She was a teacher in South Royalton. In 1942, she married C. Fabian Little, who died in 1995. She had also worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Co. and at Rock of Ages Capacitor Plant. She and her husband also owned and operated a farm in Williamstown. Survivors include a sister, Harriette Wilson; a brother, Carl Riddell; nieces and nephews.

Born in 1939 in Bennington, he was the son of Leon and Agnes (Monat) Sweet Sr. He retired from the Air Force after serving as first sergeant of the Civil Engineering Squadron of Eielson Air Force Base. He also was a camp director of the Young Adult Conservation Corps and later was safety officer and employee development specialist, retiring in 1981. Survivors include his wife, Drenna Sweet; a son, Mark Sweet; a daughter, Alyson; a brother; nieces and nephews.

, 64, of Waterbury, died Aug. 10. Born in 1932 in Duxbury, she was the daughter of George and Hazel (Foss) Howland. She graduated from Waterbury High School and attended Bay Path College in Mass. In 1952, she married Charles Mason. She was employed as a secretary by the state of Vermont and helped her husband in the operation of the family business, Mason Insurance and Real Estate Co. in Waterbury. She was a member of St. Andrew's Church. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Michael, David and Steve; a daughter, Lynn Mason; 11 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; her step-mother Alice Howland; three brothers; nieces and nephews.

In 1949, he married Albertine Rich. He retired in 1987 from Green Mountain Power Corp. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jeffrey and James; two sisters; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He had worked on his parents' farm, a farm in Windsor and for Bartlett Tree Service. He also drove an oil truck, worked as a mechanic, at Stratton Mountain Ski and Summer Resort, at East Hill Manufacturing Co. and most recently at Ascutney Mountain Resort in Brownsville. Survivors include his mother; two brothers, Wayne and Wendell Jr.; a sister, Cindy Coburn; an adopted brother, Donald Tallman; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

, 85, of Hardwick, died Aug. 11. Born in 1911 in East Montpelier, she was the daughter of Elwin Hersey and Laura (Dix) Slayton. She attended public schools in Danville and Barre and graduated from Hardwick Academy. She also attended Johnson Normal School and later graduated from Gadue's School of Cosmetology in Burlington. She owned and operated Muriel Beauty Shop in St. Johnsbury and Hardwick for more than 65 years. She was a member of the North Congregational Church in St. Johnsbury. Survivors include a daughter, Joanna Ryan; a sister; nieces, nephews and cousins.

, 86, of Randolph, died Aug. 10. Born in 1911 in Cambridge, she was the daughter of Arthur and Louelle (Harvey) Mandigo. She was educated in Johnson, Island Pond, Sheldon, St. Albans and graduated from Randolph High School. She also graduated from the University of Vermont Medical School, did her internship and residency at Ellis Hospital in N.Y. and moved to South Royalton, where she purchased the practice of Dr. Harwood. She later opened a private practice in Randolph, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the United Church of Randolph and the United Church of Christ in Hanover, N.H. In 1942, she married Rev. Kenneth Berry, who died in 1987. Survivors include a brother, Melvin Mandigo; cousins.

She had been employed by the Draper Corporation in Mass. and by the Home Health Agency in that area. In 1984, she moved to Northfield and later to Williamstown. She worked for Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, retiring earlier this year. Survivors include her daughter, Lillian Brintnall; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two brothers; a sister; nieces and nephews.

He had been employed by Jackson Dairy as a delivery man and also worked for Taft Construction Co. In 1936, he married Evelyn Lavigne, they later divorced. In 1960, he married Leona Baldwin, who died in 1995. He was affiliated with the Barre Congregational Church. Survivors include a daughter, Janice Jones; two step-daughters, Gloria Kinney and Beverly Burbank; a stepson, Robert Willey; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; many step-grandchildren.

She had been married to Don Romero and later married Gregory Edson. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Romero and Anneke Edson; two grandchildren.

She graduated from Waterbury High School and attended nurses training at Barre City Hospital. In 1960, she married David Fisher. She was a licensed practical nurse at the Vermont State Hospital and also worked at Heaton Hospital, DeGoesbriand Rehab Ctr. and Berlin Health and Rehab. Ctr. Most recently, she worked at the Joyal School in Waterbury in vocational rehabilitation. She retired in 1989. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Penny Burnell, Pam Desaults and June Bailey; a son, Michael Russell and several grandchildren.

Survivors include four daughters, Crystal Gillespie, Joyce Walworth, Catherine Scribner and Mary Atkins; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; four sisters; a brother; many nieces and nephews.

In 1959, he married Rena Chainey. He was employed by Walker Motors and later with New England Life Insurance Co., New York Life Insurance Co. and Midland Life Insurance Co. He recently became semi-retired. He was a born again Christian. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Kim Robinson, Kathy Rubalcaba, Kelly Robinson and Karlyn Robinson; two sons, Timothy and Thomas; 11 grandchildren; a brother; a nieces and a nephew; many cousins.
