, 82, of Wolcott, died Aug. 16. Born in 1915 in Wolcott, he was the son of Ernest and Gertrude (Allen) Andrus. He was educated in Wolcott public schools and later employed by Prunier Motors of Morrisville, retiring in 1980. In 1940, he married Mario Noreen Bohanon, who died in 1995. He was affiliated with the Advent Christian Church in Morrisville. Survivors include a son, Everett; two daughters, Lynda Sweetser and JoAnn Tallman; a brother; a sister; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

, 81, of Randolph, died Aug. 16. Born in 1916 in Utica, N.Y., she was the daughter of Richard and Louisa (Harris) Mehring. She graduated from Van Hornsville (N.Y.) High School. In 1937, she married Earl Smith, who died July 9, of this year. She was employed by Kwik Kut Manufacturing Co. in N.Y., retiring in 1976. Survivors include two sons, Richard and David; two daughters, Barbara Brown Mead and Edith Vorce Palmer; a brother; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

, 74, of Williamstown, died Aug. 15. Born in 1923 in Williamstown, he was the son of Juan and Amparo (Canales) Arnaiz. He received his early education in Williamstown schools and graduated from Spaulding High School. He was an Army medic during WWII and after discharge, was a lumper and crane operator in the granite industry, first employed by Rock of Ages Corp., then at South Barre Granite and later at Cook, Watkins & Patch Co., retiring in 1984. He belonged to the Williamstown Federated Church. Survivors include a daughter, Lori Arnaiz Carbonell; a grandchild; four sisters; nieces and nephews.

, 87, of Northfield, died Aug. 24. Born in 1910 in Mount Lebanon, Nazareth, she was the daughter of Blous and Yansonia (Sarkis) Union. The family immigrated to Ellis Island and later moved to Montpelier and then Northfield. She graduated from Northfield High School. In 1944, she married Paul Donahue Hurley, who died in 1964. The Hurleys had farmed in Plainfield and later operated a trucking business. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Cornelia Tucker, Paulina Bean and Mary Higgins; a brother; a sister; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; two nieces.

He was a logger and worked with the maintenance crew of the Mount Mansfield Corp., retiring in 1982. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ronald and Larry; two daughters, Barbara Reed and Janet Boomhower; a brother; a sister; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

In 1940, he married Marion Walker. He was an electrical engineer at Raytheon Manufacturing in Mass. He retired in 1981 and moved to Sharon and became a member of Sharon Congregational Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Donald and Kenneth; five daughters, Jean Clark, Judi Kehoe, Pamela Middleton, Marjorie Thomas and Loraine Kelley; a brother; a sister; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a cousin.

She was a member of the United Church in Bethel. She operated the West Topsham Inn before returning to Barre. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Barre. Survivors include a son, Charles Holcomb; a stepdaughter, Betty Ann Rodriquez; two stepsons, Irving Howard Moulton Jr. and Warren Bruce Moulton; 10 grandchildren; two brothers; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She moved to Vermont in 1977 and was employed as an emergency and primary care physician at the Central Vermont Medical Center. Survivors include a brother, Robert Anthony; her life partner, Elizabeth Turner; a niece and two nephews.

She was employed at West's Department Store and owned and operated Jerry's Diner in Hardwick. She was also employed at Howard Johnson's in Berlin. Survivors include five sons, Frank, Ormel, Kenneth, James and Bruce; two daughters, Esther Fontaine and Freda Morrison; 46 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.

He served with the Army Air Corps during WWII. He worked for the state of Vermont in the Department of Taxes, the secretary of state's office and in the Fish and Wildlife Department, retiring in 1978.
