On Thursday Sept. 2, 2010, Jannice (Brown) Conway ....show
, of Littleton, joined her beloved Frank. In body, she leaves behind her three daughters and their families, but in spirit she will always be with them. Jannice was born Sept. 7, 1922, on the kitchen table in Colebrook, N.H., the only daughter of Nelson and Nella Brown. The Browns were a family of modest means who never owned a home or a car. Little Jannice quickly evolved into a child with a very quick mind and a feisty spirit. Jannice rocketed through school, skipping two grades and accumulating many adventures along the way, often in the company of her older cousin, Claudia. At age 16, she packed her bags for Keene Teachers College, where she majored in home economics, because it was "the hardest course for a girl." It was there that she met Frank and their young love blossomed into a 66-year marriage. Both Jannice and Frank focused their lives on the well-being of their three daughters and later their grandchildren. Jannice always wanted to hear every detail of her children's accomplishments and travails; she was genuinely interested and involved in a way that made all of her children feel special and greatly loved. Jannice was a skilled debater and often liked to tell people who had the bad sense to question her opinions that she was the "second best talker in New Hampshire ... and I have a medal to prove it." She was also a gifted teacher and left her mark on many St. Rose of Lima second-graders. As the indignities of old age visited her, she dealt with her loss of vision, loss of mobility and the unremitting pain of shingles with courage and an appreciation for each day she was alive. Jannice is survived by her daughters, Nancy Conway of Chester, Vt., Jane Mackay and husband Dennis of Lancaster, and Cathryn Conway-Dorr and husband Scott of Berwick, Maine; six grandchildren, Stephanie Davis and husband Clifford Harriman of Lebanon, Joanna Davis-Bart and husband Eric of Boxford, Mass., Emily MacKay of Philadelphia, Pa., Alison MacKay and wife Eva of Durham, N.C., Molly Hale and husband Zack of Acton, Maine, and Alex Dorr of Berwick, Maine; seven great-grandchildren were also fortunate to be loved and entertained by Jannice's many stories, songs and poems. She will be sorely missed. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at Keller & Pillsbury Funeral Homes in Littleton, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Jeff Statz officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a reception to be held at The Beal House Inn in Littleton, following services.

, 53, of Waterford, Vt., passed through the door of death into his heavenly home with Jesus on Sept. 14 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was home where he wanted to be with his wife, Bonny, and daughters by his side. Rick fought hard to live and stay with his family for as long as possible, but at the end he knew it was time to go. Rick was born in Norwich, Conn., on May 23, 1957, the son of Ernest and Jeannette (Duprey) Paradis. He met the love of his life and his "rock," Bonny Hale on a trip to the beach. They were married Feb. 23, 1985, and celebrated their 25th anniversary this year. After moving to Vermont, Rick and Bonny settled in South Ryegate where he worked in the maintenance department of Lake Morey Inn Resort as the conference set-up person for several years. In 2007, he and Bonny moved to Davenport, Fla., to live with and take care of his in-laws, Don and Louise. After Don's death, Rick, Bonny and Louise moved back to Vermont to be near family. He also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and listening to his collection of wind chimes.
