Lise Claudette Volpe
....show
, 45, born in Hartford, Connecticut, to Robert and Adrienne Lacroix, died in Boca Raton, Florida, December 5, 2004, due to massive injuries resultant from being struck down by a car. Mrs. Volpe lived briefly in New York City, Island Pond, and Hartford before settling in Florida. A graduate of the University of Connecticut in drama, she lived her life with a flair for the theatrical. With her tremendous wit and deep sense of the absurd she was able to view the hills and valleys of life through the bittersweet lens of comedy and indeed was able to make so many of us laugh in spite of it all. Beautiful, intelligent, and creative, she channeled her love of words into writing. Many of her poems have been published. The happiest event of her short life was the birth of her beloved daughter, Emma, in 2000. Predeceased by her parents at the age of two, she and her brother David were adopted by Phyllis and Dominic Grimaldi of Stamford, Connecticut. She was also predeceased by a brother and two nephews: Richard N. Lacroix of Newport, Max A. Lacroix of East Charleston, and David Lucier of Dayville, Connecticut. She is survived by her daughter, Emma; by her husband, John Volpe, of Boca Raton; by her father, Dominic Grimaldi, of Del Ray Beach, Florida; by her brothers: David A. Grimaldi of New Jersey, Marc L. Lacroix and Michael P. Lacroix of East Charleston, and Robert R. Lacroix of Potsdam, New York; by her sisters Jacqueline A. Lucier of Dayville and Donna Jean Safford of Derby Line; and by many nieces and nephews. It is with great sorrow that her family regards the horrid pain and brutal truncation of her life at mid-journey, sorrow that there was no chance for farewells, sorrow that her daughter will not know her or hear her stories just as she did not know her own mother, and finally sorrow at the bottomless void that her passing has left in their lives. May she rest in the peace that she yearned for. Her family and friends shall miss her deeply. Details of memorial and interment services have yet to be decided.
