, 95, of Lyndon, died suddenly, Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at the Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center in Lyndon. She was born Jan. 26, 1907, in Newport, the daughter of Henry and Leona (Buck) Schoolcraft. On Sept. 23, 1926, Rita married W. Raymond Brown. A member of the Lyndonville United Methodist Church for many years, Rita was active in its women\'s group and enjoyed working in the church food booth at the Caledonia County Fair. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and people. Most of all she loved her family and animals. Survivors include her son, Wayne E. Brown and wife Marilyn of St. Johnsbury; five grandchildren, David Brown and wife Ruth of Windsor, Paula Brown of Denver, Colo., Karen Brown of Virginia Beach, Va., Mark Brown of Virginia Beach, and Kathleen Brown of Waterbury; four great-grandchildren; and her close friend, Margie Ward of St. Johnsbury. She was predeceased by her husband, W. Raymond Brown, on May 14, 1992; and her two sisters, Beryl Hitchcock and Alida LaPier. Graveside services at Lyndon Center Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no visiting hours. , 91, longtime resident of South Kirby, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, while at the Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center in Lyndon. She was born Jan. 13, 1911, in Corinth, the daughter of the late William and Lillian (Johnson) Moulton. Minnie graduated from Bradford Academy and Lyndon Normal School. She was a schoolteacher at the one-room schoolhouse in Kirby, teaching grades 1-8. On Dec. 24, 1936, she married Maurice F. Wood. They raised their family and worked the Lone Pine Farm in South Kirby, which their son Rodney now operates. A 4-H leader of the South Kirby Hilltoppers for many years, she enjoyed working with young people. She worked as a substitute teacher for several years. She was a 65-year member of the Third Congregational Church of East St. Johnsbury, where she held many offices, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Womens Fellowship. Other memberships include Home Dem/Busy Gals Club of East St. Johnsbury, and she was a 45-year member of the Eastern Star of Concord. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, traveling and was known to be an excellent cook. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Maurice Wood of South Kirby; two sons, Robert "Bob" Wood and wife Suzanne "Sue" of South Kirby, and Rodney Wood of South Kirby; a daughter, Norma Hockman and her husband John of Perkasie, Pa.; her sister, Flora Hastings of South Royalton; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Norman Moulton; and a sister, Ivis Basset. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. , 91, of Walden, died Tuesday evening, March 19, 2002, at the Greensboro Nursing Home in Greensboro. He was born Aug. 14, 1910, in Walden, the son of Merton and Jane (Gamble) Davidson. He attended Walden public schools. On Nov. 17, 1949, he married Katherine L. Kittredge in Walden. He was employed for several years by the St. J. & L.C. Railroad. He later operated the family dairy farm in Walden, until he retired due to failing health. George was affiliated with the West Danville United Methodist Church and was a past member of the Cabot Farmers Co-Op. He enjoyed reading, wildlife, gardening and sugaring each spring. Survivors include a son, Richard Kittredge and wife Mary Jane of Manchester; a brother, Albert "Cub" Davidson and his wife Leona of Walden; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. George was predeceased by his wife Katherine in 1999; a sister, Maydene Chamberlain; and a nephew, Robert Chamberlain. There will be no visiting hours. , 82, of 1761 Cold Hill Road, Lyndonville, passed away Friday, March 22, 2002, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. He was born Dec. 25, 1919, the son of the late Wilbur and Florence (Houghton) Howland. Before retiring, he worked as a farmer, welder, carpenter and heavy construction worker. He married his wife of 63 years, Eva (Lawson) Howland of Lyndonville, on Jan. 27, 1939. He was a very loving and caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Eva Howland; five children and their spouses, Linda and Harris Stimpson of South Wheelock, Sharon and Jerry Dean of Wilson, N.Y., Robert and Mary Howland of Lyndonville, Ronald Howland and companion Denise Doyan of Lyndonville, and Donald Howland of St. Johnsbury; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Prefontaine of Bushnell, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. , 74, of Franklin, Vt., husband of Ruth (McDermott) Titemore, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. He was born Nov. 5, 1927, in Franklin, the son of the late Glenn and Myrtle (Eldred) Titemore. He was raised and attended schools in Franklin and then attended Bliss Electrical School in Tacoma Park, Md., graduating in 1947. Following his graduation he moved to Lyndonville, where he was employed and was eventually the manager of Lyndonville Electric from 1948 to 1976. He was also a founder and general manager of VPPSA in Burlington from 1977 to 1983. He was then employed at Swanton Electric from 1987 to 1995 as assistant manager. He was the former president of NEPPA, a 50-year member and past master of the Lyndonville Masonic Lodge F & AM, a former member of the Lyndonville Rotary Club, and a member of the Franklin County Sugarmakers. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Titemore of Franklin; three sons, Larry Titemore and wife Vickie of Lyndonville, David Titemore of Franklin, and Richard Titemore and wife Jennifer of York, Pa.; five grandchildren, Matthew Titemore, Stacey and Derick Titemore, and Gina and Lincoln Mazzei; two brothers and their wives, Carroll and Kay Titemore of Liverpool, N.Y., and Robert and Geraldine Titemore of Burlington; one sister and her husband, Priscilla and Willard Mahoney of Sheldon; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Alan Titemore. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 27, at 11 a.m., at the Franklin United Church with Pastor Mike Long officiating. , 82, of Grand Rapids, Mich., died Friday, March 22, 2002, after a lingering fight against Alzheimer\'s Disease. She was born in Lyndonville, June 30, 1919, to William Edward Riley and Agnes Josephine Benoit Riley, and was educated at Lyndon Institute. She attended Regis College in Weston, Mass., and did course work at Columbia University Graduate School for her master\'s degree in Latin. She married Robert Joel Leslie in the summer of 1946. She was widowed in 1958 when Robert died prematurely, and was left with three children. She resumed her teaching career after a few years by substituting and teaching high school Latin at South High School until it closed in 1968. She was made foreign language coordinator for the Grand Rapids public school system while still teaching Latin. She retired from teaching in 1982 due to health reasons. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce Robert and Margie-Jane (Weigel) Leslie, and their son, Michael Bruce Leslie; a daughter, Jean Elizabeth Leslie; and a son, Brian Joel Leslie. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, Mich., with the Rev. Henry Knight of the Community Church of Christ officiating. Patty was born July 30, 1959, at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, the daughter of Timothy Twomey and Gloria (Harris) Twomey, and attended Woodsville schools. She was a member of the VFW in Littleton and was employed there before moving to Florida three years ago. She had a great love for fishing, and could often be found at area ponds fishing during the summer months. She is survived by her partner of seven years, Bill Johnson of Port Orange, Fla.; her daughter, Mindy Jean (Chamberlin) Wagner and husband Tyler of Bellingham, Wash.; her mother, Gloria Welch of Monroe, N.H.; her brothers, Timothy Twomey of Hampton, N.H., and Mike Welch and wife Erica of Manchester, N.H.; her grandmother, Goldie Harris of Bath, N.H.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. "Sue" retired on Nov. 1, 2001, as a correctional officer at the Grafton County House of Correction in North Haverhill after 27 years. She was a communicant of St. Joseph\'s Roman Catholic Church in Woodsville. Sue married Donald H. "Monk" Ingerson on Sept. 12, 1980. Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Donald of North Haverhill; a daughter, Connie "Dee Dee" Colon of Mountain Lakes, N.H.; a son, Robert Edward Michael Ingerson of North Haverhill; four grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Born March 2, 1906 in St. Johnsbury, the daughter of Arthur and Serena Webber Wilkins, she married Leon Bush in 1923 and, for 61 years of marriage, lived in the town of Huron, N.Y. As a loving wife and mother, she worked on the family farm, and for many years in the Leavenworth Central School cafeteria. She is survived by her children, Mary and husband William Sternberg of Pittsford, N.Y., Robert and wife Louise Bush, Betty and husband Glen Mull, and Arthur Bush, all of Wolcott, N.Y.; and Linda and husband Woodrow Blake of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Harold Wilkins, two sisters, Grace Wakeham and Evangeline Ouellette, and a special niece, June and husband Wendell Hartley, all of Vermont; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leon L. Bush, in 1984; five brothers, Lewis, George, Charles, Wilbur and Everett Wilkins; and four sisters, Marion Eley, Florence Garfield, Winifred Norcross, and Emily Coache. There are no calling hours. She was born in Napoli, Italy, Aug. 22, 1922, the daughter of Salvatore and Maria DePalma. She attended school in Napoli, and on April 24, 1946, she married Clifford Henderson of Lyndon in Napoli. He predeceased her May 26, 1985. A homemaker and mother, she loved family, friends, and her home, and enjoyed cooking and gardening. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her simple, gracious manner and touch and her special smile - traits she carried with her through the end of her life. She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Daley and husband Timothy of Lyndonville; a son, Robert Henderson and wife Melanie; three grandsons, Matthew, Gregory and Bradley, all of Winnenucca, Nev.; her sister-in-law, Doris Swift of Buzzards Bay, Mass.; and by several nieces and nephews. , 88, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, in Bradenton, Fla. She was born in Knott\'s Island, N.C., and lived in Bradenton. Audrey is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Otto "Gene" Schindler, and a niece, Dona Fay Ellsworth, all of Bradenton. Audrey had raised Fay as a daughter and considered Fay\'s daughter, Donna Ellsworth Wheeler of Lyndonville, as a granddaughter, and Donna\'s daughters, Amanda and Ashley Wheeler, as great-grandchildren. Audrey would be known in the Lyndonville community as being the lady responsible for over 75 crystal angels made for the Lyndonville United Methodist Church bazaar. She had also recently made 45 stuffed bears for a camp in Florida that shares the bears with terminally ill children. A memorial gathering was held in Bradenton on March 1, and inurnment will be held in Virginia Beach, Va., March 9. Margaret was born March 28, 1919, the daughter of Clyde Bailey and Mary Elizabeth Morin Ovitt. She was a graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy, and had worked for Palmer Brothers laundry service, Woolworths Department Store and St. Johnsbury Trucking. She enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening, camping, traveling and crafts. Margaret is survived by three sisters, Charlotte Simpson of St. Johnsbury, Ann Ovitt of Danville, and Madeline Storey of Americus, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Ovitt of Passumpsic; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Frederick Ovitt, Richard H. Ovitt and Charles Wesley Ovitt. She was born July 22, 1925, in Agawam, Mass., the daughter of Clyde F. and Blanche (Gilbert) Hale. Mrs. Smires served in the United States Army during World War II as an ambulance driver. She was a home health care provider in New Jersey prior to moving to Barnet in 1969. Locally, she worked for North Country Farms in Monroe as an egg processor. Mrs. Smires was a member of the VFW in Lyndonville, and a member of the American Legion, Ross-Wood Post 20 in Woodsville. She was predeceased by her husband, Carlton Smires, Jan. 26, 2000, and four brothers, Walter, Leonard, Russell and Kenneth Hale. Carl was a highly decorated veteran of World War II. He worked over 30 years in the automotive field, holding many different positions, from technician to service manager, and after retirement was very active in the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department. Survivors include a son, Allen E. Stetson; a special friend, Thelma Lavery; three sisters, Mona Larocque, Erma McDaniels, and Denise Chamberlain and husband Herman; a brother, Dr. John Stetson of Syracuse, N.Y.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Spiegel was an active member of the West Hartford United Methodist Church, and a member of the West Hartford Belles. Prior to her retirement in 1982 she had been a bookkeeper with the Hartford Insurance Group. Mrs. Spiegel is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Russell W. and Marie L. Grant of Ocala, Fla.; her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn G. and Earle J. Wilson of Manchester, Conn.; stepson Dexter R. She was a member of the Barnet Congregational Church, belonged to the "Chat \'N Chew" group in Barnet, and had been a loyal volunteer at the Barnet Trade Post. She was predeceased by three sisters, Beverly Porier, Leah Warden and Sadie Laflamme. Glidden in Northfield, July 9, 1938. Mr. Glidden died Dec. 30, 1989. Mrs. Glidden had worked for Smith Woodworking for 10 years and Northfield Wood Products for 10 years, both located in Northfield. She retired in the mid-1970s. She enjoyed sewing, baking, canning, flower gardening and quilting. , 58, of Worcester Road, Peacham, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at his residence after a long illness. He was born in St. Johnsbury, July 25, 1943, the son of Albert T. and Ellen (Snow) Thresher. He attended Peacham Academy. In 1968, Fred moved to Oklahoma where he married Donna Donaldson on October 5 of that year. They moved back to Peacham in 1977 and built their home on Worcester Road. Fred worked as a carpenter for White Brothers Construction in Peacham and for Ryegate Paper Company in Ryegate. He also worked for Calco as a truck driver and in their precast division in St. Johnsbury. He then worked as plant manager for Lawrence Sand Gravco in Woodsville, which became Carroll Concrete. Not one to sit around, in 1996 he started Fred\'s Home Help, assisting people with repairs and projects around their homes. Fred was an avid hunter and sportsman, and an excellent cabinet maker and woodworker. He loved to show his Yankee humor and was known to tell a story of two. But he was happiest spending time with his grandchildren, showing them special love and attention. Whether it be handing out candy or handing out hugs, Fred loved being a grandfather. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Nicole, in September, 2001; his parents; two brothers, Frank and Tom Thresher; two infant brothers and one infant sister. Surviving relatives include his wife of 35 years, Donna (Donaldson) Thresher; two sons, William and wife Tammy Thresher of Peacham, and Jeff and wife Tina Thresher of Lyndonville; a daughter, Crystal Thresher and companion Ruel Carmichael of Peacham; six grandchildren, Alexandra, Kody, Brandon, Kaitlyn, Christopher and Bayley; three brothers, Wesley "Ike" Thresher of St. Johnsbury, Allen and wife Hattie Thresher of Peacham, and John and wife Kaye of Peacham; two sisters, Nancy and husband Francis Gorman of Dover Plains, N.Y., and Lillian and husband Eldon Gibson of Miami, Okla.; one aunt, Aline Faris of Barnet; a godson, Jason Crocker and fiancee Jen Coutu of Danville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. , 59, of 101 Autumn Road, Dalton, N.H., died at his residence, Friday, March 8, 2002. He was born Jan. 18, 1943, in Plymouth, N.H., a son of Adolphus and Madeline S. (Moulton) Bowles. Mr. Bowles had been disabled for the past 20 years. He was previously employed as a machinist-mechanic for a number of years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Ronnie was very much an independent Yankee-spirited man. Surviving family members include his mother, Madeline "Peggy" Bowles of Lisbon; two brothers, Kenneth W. Bowles of St. Johnsbury, and Arthur W. Bowles of Jennings, Okla.; two sisters, Harriet B. Faretra of Concord, N.H., and Ruth E. Summers of Chico, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. He was born in Barnet, Sept. 13, 1935, a son of Ernest Albert Bishop and Bernice (Cheney) Bishop Halfrey. Ron was a lifelong upper valley resident, and was a carpenter and construction worker. He was last employed with Ridgeway Builders in Haverhill as a forklift operator. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957 during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed nature and what it had to offer. Riding his three-wheeler, tapping trees and making maple syrup were a few of his favorite pastimes. Mr. Bishop married the former Charlotte Bean, Dec. 5, 1958. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Charlotte Bishop of Center Haverhill; two sons, Jeffrey Bishop of Center Haverhill and Michael Bishop of Woodsville; two daughters, Janelle Bagley of Bradford, and Michelle Davidson of Woodsville; six grandchildren; four brothers, Richard A. Bishop of Fairborn, Ohio, Myron F. "Joe" Bishop of Bremerton, Wash., Reginald W. Bishop of Bradford, and Steven A. , 71, formerly of Middle Street, Lancaster, N.H., died Monday morning, March 11, 2002, at her daughter\'s home in Manchester after a long battle with emphysema. Mrs. Bedell was born in Lancaster, Jan. 27, 1931, the daughter of Allen L. and Rachel M. (Ryan) Moore. She was a graduate of Lancaster Academy and Wilson School of X-Ray in Boston, Mass. For 18 years she worked as a florist and owned and operated the Bedell Flower Shop in Lancaster and later Northumberland. For several years she was also employed at Weeks Medical Center clinic as an X-ray technician. She was a member of the Lancaster Olive Branch Chapter 1 O.E.S. and Mother Advisor for the Rainbow Girls of Lancaster. Family members include five children, Sara Farnham of Lancaster, Patrick Holroyd of Sandown, N.H., Stephen Holroyd of Exeter, N.H., Carol Manter of Candia, N.H., and Mary Ellen Pantazis of Manchester, N.H.; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a nephew, Allen Tenney; and two great-nieces. She was predeceased by her son, Michael L. Holroyd, in 1957; her first husband, Wilson C. Holroyd, in 1960; a sister, Mary Jane Tenney, in 1999; her second husband, Franklin J. During World War II, Mr. Charron served in the Navy in the Pacific theater. Pete was employed at Tap and Die for 23 years and retired in 1986. He was a life member of VFW Post 10038 and served as trustee at the post many of those years. He was also a member of American Legion Post 30 and Elks BPOE 1343. , 81, a longtime resident of Danville, an educator and a homemaker, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002. Barbara was born Feb. 6, 1921, in St. Johnsbury, to Dr. William A. and Frances (Clement) Hamilton. She graduated from Philips Academy in Danville in 1939 and Simmons College in Boston, Mass., in 1943, with a bachelor of science degree in home economics. Barbara began her professional career working for the Junkett Company in New York from 1943 to 1945 and was the head of the Milbourne High School food service in Milbourne, N.J. from 1945 to 1948. She taught home economics at St. Johnsbury Academy from 1948 to 1953. From 1977 until 1988 she was the correspondence secretary for the American Society of Dowsers. She was honored as the society\'s Dowser of the Year in 1986. She was a member of the Danville Congregational Church, and enjoyed people, gardening, travel and was devoted to her family. Barbara was predeceased in January, 2002, by her husband of 50 years, Llewellyn Roberts. She was also predeceased by her twin sister, Beverly (Hamilton) Jenks, a brother, Paul Hamilton, and a son-in-law, Thomas Rowland. He was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Lewiston, Vt., a son of Alfred and Ann (O\'Bready) Morin. Mr. Morin graduated from West Lebanon High School, West Lebanon, N.H., and served with the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942-44, acquiring the rank of staff sergeant. He had lived in the Wells River-Woodsville area for over 50 years and was employed in the shipping department of the Ryegate Paper Mill in East Ryegate for over 40 years. His favorite pastime was watching football and baseball. He also enjoyed fishing and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ray was a member of the St. Joseph\'s Catholic Church, a member of the American Legion Ross-Wood Post 20, and a former member of the Paper Union. Mr. Morin was predeceased by his first wife, Annette Lamontagne; one sister, Lucille Marchewka; and one grandchild, Alexander. , 83, of South Kirby, passed away at his home, Friday, March 15, 2002, after a short battle with cancer. He was born in West Burke, to Flora and Osro Chase. He went to school in West Burke and continued his schooling at home, where he became very smart in math and blueprints. He was very intelligent. He fell in love with and married Katherine Sanville, Dec. 28, 1940, and moved from Lyndon Center to South Kirby in 1951 to become a dairy farmer. He also worked for Vermont Tap & Die, Northeast Tool, Caledonia Sand & Gravel, and Fairbanks Scales. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and giving the weather on his CB radio to his many friends in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. He was a former member of the Yankee Watters CB club and the Northeast Kingdom Campers. He was handy with making crafts like lawn ornaments, handles for his tools, and small odds and ends for the house. He was also very good at fixing electrical things like hair dryers and electric fry pans, etc. He loved playing cards with family members. He was hard-working but always found time to help others. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Katherine; their three sons, Roy and wife Edie of Danville, Wayne and wife Jean of Passumpsic, and Raymond and wife Ellen of Lyndonville; one daughter, Dorothy Starin and husband Marty of Austin, Texas; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents; an infant son, James; brothers and sisters Reginald, Charles, Linnie, Daisy, Goldie and Ethel; and a granddaughter, Karen Thresher of Houston, Texas. 90, formerly of North Concord and Windsor, Vt., died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Hanover Terrace Healthcare in Hanover, N.H. He was born April 23, 1911, in North Concord, a son of John A. and Ena (Ladd) Noble. He spent many years farming in Wheelock, Kirby and Lyndonville. In 1948 he returned to North Concord and ran the family farm before marrying Ellen M. McBey on Nov. 8, 1954. Bill worked at Fairbanks Morse Weighing Division in St. Johnsbury for 19 years before retiring in 1972. He then worked for Concord High School as janitor/custodian, and then for the town of Concord. In 1995 he and his wife moved to Windsor, to be closer to their son. Bill was an avid gardener who was known in the Northeast for having some of the tallest hollyhocks around. Flowers were his favorite, even though he had a talented green thumb for potatoes and strawberries. He was a very caring person, always helping friends and neighbors, and he saw the good in life, never dwelling on the bad. He loved to make people laugh, and had a love for animals as well. Walking was a favorite pastime, as was being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandson. Family meant more to him than anything. William attended churches in the Concord and St. Johnsbury areas. He was predeceased by eight brothers, Leon, Harold, Clyde, Orbert, Walter, Wesley, Kenneth and Eugene; and one sister, Kathleen. He is survived by his wife Ellen (McBey) Noble of Hanover, N.H.; a sister, Muriel Pelletier of North Concord; a brother, Elmer Noble of Medaryville, Ind.; a son, Andrew and wife Sharon (Johnson) Noble of Windsor; a daughter, Rachel (Noble) and husband Eric Ticehurst of West Lebanon, N.H.; grandchildren Rebecca (Noble) Heffernan of White River Junction, Catherine (Noble) Campbell of Windsor, Sarah and Angel Noble of Windsor; Elizabeth and Ethan Ticehurst of West Lebanon, N.H.; and great-grandson Zachary Andrew Campbell of Windsor. , 95, died Tuesday morning, March 19, 2002, at Holton Point in Lancaster. Mrs. McConnell was born in Jefferson, N.H., April 7, 1906, the daughter of Eugene Charles and Effie Jane (Lowe) Reed. Raised in Jefferson, she later moved to Whitefield and Woodsville, where her father was employed with the railroad. She resided for a time with her late husband, Alex James McConnell, in Englewood, N.J. They returned to Lancaster, where they operated a farm for 17 years and also owned and operated a John Deere dealership on North Main Street for eight years. After retirement they wintered in Florida. She was a former Rebekah and a member of the Shuffle Club in Florida. Family members include four nephews, Sherwood Carbee of Montgomeryville, Pa., David Carbee of White River Junction, Vt., Peter Carbee of Montpelier, Vt., and Douglas Nelson of Keene, N.H.; and a niece, Myrna Tallman of East Belvidere, Vt. She was predeceased by her husband in 1988, and a nephew, Philip Nelson of Somersworth, N.H. A visiting hour will be held Friday afternoon, March 22, from 1 to 2 p.m., at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. , 83, of Newport, died Wednesday, March 13, at the Newport Health Center. Eleanor was born Oct. 4, 1918, in New Jersey, the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Miller) Claremont. She married Leonard Charles Mull, who preceded her in death. She enjoyed receiving cards from her sister in New Jersey; her family, especially her grandchildren; the seashore; and the family dog, Suzie. Eleanor is survived by a sister, Helen Hartzell of New Jersey; a daughter-in-law, Krystine Mull of Bethlehem, N.H.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Leonard C. Mull Jr., in April 2001. , 82, a Lyndonville native, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at the Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Fla. He was born in Lyndonville Oct. 21, 1919, the son of Zodique and Alphonsine Ouelette Charron. Aldoph worked for Vermont Tap & Die as an inspector for many years. He enjoyed woodcarving and woodworking, and he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10038 in Lyndonville. He is survived by a son, Aldoph K. Charron and wife Sheila of Lyndonville; a daughter, Nancy Ruggles and husband Steven of Naples, Fla.; two grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; and a sister, Philamen Pillsbury of Lyndonville. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family later this spring in the Lyndon Center Cemetery.

Born June 20, 1920, in Canaan, Vt., a son of Wallace and Nellie (Parker) Collins, he lived in Groveton for 18 years, coming from Colebrook before moving to Lancaster for several years, and then back to Groveton seven years ago. Before retiring in 1985, he worked for 35 years for Groveton Paper/James River Corp. He attended the Groveton United Methodist Church. He belonged to N.H. Fish and Game, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. "Bud" is survived by a son, Donald A. and wife Linda Collins of Groveton; a daughter, Bonnie and husband Ronald Daigneault of Groveton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Janice "Jenny" Bettis of California; a brother, Donald F. Collins of Groveton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Etta F. Pat was a dairy farmer operating the old Gorham farm in North Kirby for 20 years. He had also worked on other area farms throughout the years. He enjoyed people and telling stories of days gone by. Survivors include three step-children, Danny Angel of South Carolina, George Angel of Colorado, and Sue Strong of Texas; a brother, Wendell "Mac" McFarland of Newark; a brother-in-law, Aldis Gorham and wife Shirley of Lyndon; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gorham of North Kirby, and Blanche Gorham of Lyndon; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was born in Littleton, the daughter of Clayton and Ida (King) Perkins. During her married life she resided in East Concord, before moving to Florida, South Carolina and Connecticut. In her younger years she was employed at Gilman Paper Mill, the St. Johnsbury House, and Lancaster Motel as a cook. She was a member of St. Theresa\'s Parish in Gilman and also involved with St. Theresa\'s Altar Society. At the time of her death she was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Terryville, Conn. Mamie is survived by three sons, Harold McKearney and wife Louise of Terryville, Conn., Roland McKearney and wife Catherine of Lunenburg, and Fred McKearney and wife Denise of Terryville; two daughters, Ellen McLaughlin of Tignall, Ga., and Hilda Lucas of Lake Worth, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. He was born in St. Johnsbury, Sept. 16, 1925, the son of Clayton and Lillian (Flanders) Dickerman. He worked as a cook at the Spanish Villa in St. Johnsbury. He loved working on cars, and always painted them black. Kenney Jr.; one son, Carl Hanner of Okeechobee Fla.; two daughters, Dawn Bodenhamer of Lyndon, and Cassandra Kenney of St. Johnsbury; two brothers, George Darnell of Florida, and Chris Darnell of Okeechobee Fla.; one sister, Minnie Darnell of Killeen, Texas; two nephews, Toi Bohanan, and Daniel Bohanan; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Virginia Hanner; and a sister, Terri Darnell. , 55, of St. Johnsbury, died suddenly, Wednesday, March 20, 2002. He was born in St. Johnsbury May 31, 1946, the son of Camille and Jeanne (Descoteaux) Lamothe. Paul was a 1966 graduate of St. Johnsbury Trade School. A Vietnam War veteran, Paul served two tours of duty while enlisted in the United States Army. He later received an associate\'s degree in computer technology from Indiana Technical Institute. He was a member of the American Legion. Paul worked for various employers in the St. Johnsbury area, the last five years at D.G. Roofing. He greatly enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, boating, skiing and snowmobiling. He also worked on Car 71 at the area race car circuit. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to all of his numerous friends and family. He is survived by two daughters, April Lamothe of Sheffield and Shellie Lamothe of St. Johnsbury; one grandson, William Tanner Jr.; his mother, Jeanne Lamothe of St. Johnsbury; two sisters, Elaine Evans and husband William of St. Johnsbury, and Karen Hollerby of St. Johnsbury; three brothers, Richard Lamothe and wife Anita of Live Oak, Texas, Dennis Lamothe and wife Diane of St. Johnsbury, and David Lamothe and wife Renee of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. , 52, of 48 Mountain Ave., St. Johnsbury, died at home Friday, March 22, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Claremont, N.H., March 25, 1949, the son of Theodore and Doris (Ouellette) Winot. He attended elementary schools in Claremont, moved with his family to St. Johnsbury and graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1968. He married Linda Thompson, Nov. 1, 1969. From 1968-1972 he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and 17 years in the National Guard. He was a 21-year employee of Baker Commodities and was a member of the American Legion Post 58. For many years, Bruce coached area youth in softball, baseball, football and wrestling. Bruce is survived by his wife Linda; a daughter, Kara and husband Jason Coons of Kirby; a son, Jon and wife Tracy Winot of Kirby; a granddaughter, Kortney Coons, with whom he enjoyed a very special relationship; his parents, Ted and Doris Winot of St. Johnsbury; his mother-in-law, Ruth Brown of Lyndonville; four sisters, Debra and husband Fred Priest of St. Johnsbury, Salli and husband Wayne Lewis of Waterford, Bobbi and husband Rick Utley of West Burke, Darcie and husband David Brill of St. Johnsbury; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie and husband Pete Sheltra of Spring Hill, Fla., and Patricia Hubbard of Waterford; a brother-in-law, Duane Thompson of Lyndonville; many nieces and nephews; and many very special friends. , 87, of the Darling Inn Apartments in Lyndonville, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at the Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center in Lyndonville. He was born Aug. 29, 1914, in Lyndon Corner, the son of Frank A. and Stella (Sargent) Morse. Steve and his late wife Joyce owned and operated a dairy farm in Lyndon Corner until 1964. That year they joined the staff at Gould Farm, a nationally renowned rehabilitation center in Monterey, Mass., devoted to community living and healing through work. In the mid-1970s they established their own group home in Bristol, N.H., based largely on the Gould Farm model, and a second and third group home was subsequently established in Plymouth and Wentworth, N.H. The unique love, family and community that the residents found at the Morse home touched many people. In 1994 Steve and Joyce returned to their Lyndonville roots, where they were reunited with old friends and Steve became known by many townspeople for his long morning walks. Steve is survived by his children and their spouses, Marilyn and Dean Sackett of Aiken, S.C., Janice and Robert Lepine of Lyndonville, Beverly and Lawrence Mayo of Sebring, Fla., Stephen F. Morse Jr. of Sebring, Fla., and Stephanie and Stefan Grotz of Monterey, Mass.; his son-in-law, Gayland Simpson of Delray Beach, Fla.; his sister-in-law, Lucille Morse of Coventry, Conn.; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two cousins, Robert Morse of Venice, Fla., and Arlene Piper of Mashpee, Mass.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and an untold number of friends and acquaintances. Steve was predeceased by his father and mother; his beloved wife of 63 years, Joyce; three sisters, Mary, Priscilla (Sister Mary Stella), and Phyllis; one brother, Russell; one daughter, Nancy Simpson; one daughter-in-law, Daphne (Green) Morse; one granddaughter, Samantha Morse; and one foster daughter, Joanne. , 72, of Route 141, Canaan, Vt., passed away Monday, March 25, 2002, at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, N.H. Mrs. Carpenter was born Dec. 13, 1929, in Long Beach, Calif., the daughter of the late Leonard and Lela (Haynes) Gray. She married Mr. Alton Carpenter on Jan. 18, 1953. Mrs. Carpenter was self-employed as a dairy farmer. She was also employed as a lab and X-ray technician for the Coos County Hospital and later at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital. She later returned to the Coos County Nursing Hospital to serve as activities director. She was a member of the All Saints Anglican Church, the Frontier Grange and the Aurora Grange. She served as Past Lady Assistant Steward of the New Hampshire State Grange. Mrs. Carpenter is survived by a son, Mr. Gary Carpenter, his wife Lola and two children, Kelly and Kate, of Spencer, Tenn.; two daughters, Mrs. Joel (Gayl) Tjornehoj and two children, Rachel and Abigail, of Poolesville, Md.; and Mrs. Michael (Nellie) Hanagan and two children, Lela and Catherine, of Dickerson, Md.; and a great-grandson, Ethan Frank Dodson. Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Alton Carpenter, in 1990. Calling hours were held at Mrs. Carpenter\'s residence on Wednesday and Thursday. , 63, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 28, 2002, at her home on Glen Road in Newport. She was born April 5, 1938, to Floyd and Laura Lontine, who predeceased her in 1979 and 1986 respectively. She was a graduate of Newport High School and Lyndon State College. She received a master\'s degree from the University of Vermont and was employed as a teacher for the Burlington School District. Anita is survived by one sister, Gloria Reynolds and husband Brad of Newport; a niece, Julie Ashby and husband Charles, of St. John, Virgin Islands; a niece, Shari McAllister and husband Mark of Barton and their sons, Joshua McAllister and Charles Buckland Jr.; a nephew, Jon Piper, of Averill, Vt.; three cousins, Merriman Barnes of Bristol, R.I., Ronald Fielder of East St. Johnsbury, and Richard Fielder of Montpelier. She is also survived by her very dear friend and "sister" Carolyn Bessette of Essex Junction, and her children, Valerie, Virginia, Corina and Matthew, whom Anita helped to raise. She enjoyed woodworking, traveling, camping, and fishing with her friend Carolyn. They enjoyed trips to the casinos throughout the country. Anita was a member of the VFW Post 798 Auxiliary, and the American Legion Post 21 in Newport.
