Vermont Northeast Kingdom Genealogy Query - Message Board HANCOCK and MELCHER I am looking for any info on Joseph Melcher (b. <1780) and Joseph Hancock (1780-1847). Joseph Melcher was the father of Sally/Sarah Melcher (1794-1823) who married Joseph Hancock. This couple had John Melcher Hancock (1820-1893) who married Eliza French Goss. The latter couple resided in St. Johnsbury in 1860-70 or longer. They had Ellen Sophia Hancock (b. in St. Johnsbury in 1860 and d. in Northampton, MA 1917) who married, as his 2nd wife, Lewis F. Babbitt (1850-c1919) of Greensboro. Lewis Babbitt was the nephew/. gr. nephew of Henry and Ancil Babbitt of St. Johnsbury. These families (Melcher, Hancock, Goss, Babbitt) lived in Hardwick, East Hardwick, Greensboro, St. Johnsbury, and maybe Craftsbury. show email address
