Vermont Northeast Kingdom Genealogy Query - Message Board TOLAN - TOLAND William James Tolan (possibly Toland). Born: 1837, Burke, NY I’m trying to obtain my GGrandfather’s death certificate (July 2, 1912) for purposes of verifying his parent’s names (possibly John Tolan & Elizabeth Murray). Historical Newspaper notice of his will shows that he died in Bethel, Vermont but had lived most of his life in Burke, NY (which is where he is buried). I know the family had a farm in Bethel, Vt and one in Burke, NY which they would switch living upon among siblings William James Tolan Jr. and my Grandfather Daniel Martin Tolan in 1907.
