Vermont Northeast Kingdom Genealogy Query - Message Board ALLEN Looking for my great grandfather's family in northern Vermont before they migrated to New Hampshire. In the 1860 Census, George Allen b. 1830 in England and Esther (don't know her maiden name) b. 1833 in Canada lived in Brownington, VT. Their son Edgar L. Allen was born Oct(?) 1863 in Maidstone, VT. He is my gr. grandfather. I discovered his parent's names and birth places from a transcribed marriage certificate of his marriage on 10/23/1889 to Elizabeth "Lizzie" Beattie in Massachusetts. I cannot find George and Esther Allen in the 1870 census but think I have found them in the 1880 census, but unsure because the children from the 1860 were grown and out of their household by then. The 1860 census lists the following children: Emily b. 1851, George E b. 1853, Martha b.1855, and a female daughter that could be Flora b. 1859 but not sure about that child's name as it is hard to read. The 1880 lists George and Esther with 2 children: Alvaline b. 1861, and Delbert b. 1869 as children. I would like any information on George's and Esther's ancestors, their marriage, and information on their descendants. If someone has birth information on Edgar L. Allen, I would like that also. The 1860 census says Esther was born in Canada, but later ones say NH. I think she is probably from Canada but without her family name or documents with information, I have no idea where she is from.
