86 of Sutton Vermont died at his home on January 6, 2017. Amos was born on August 5, 1930 to George and Myrtle Davis Allard. Before retiring, he worked farming and doing mill work for 20 years as well as logging all of his life. He is survived by one brother, Arthur A. Allard of Derby, a niece Loreene Gray as well as two other nieces and a nephew. He will be missed much. There will be no calling hours.

, 77, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 8th, 2017 at her home on Red Village Road in Lyndonville, Vermont. Jacqui was a brave woman who inspired the people around her to see every day as an adventure. In the autumn, Jacqui took fashion cues from nature. Her signature fashion statement was anything orange accompanied by pumpkins and a witches’ hat, always with a joyous smile. She handed out souvenirs of spider rings and catnip to all who came to the farm. Jacqui was always a vibrant community member and treasured friend to many. During her life, Jacqui enjoyed many outlets for her creative spirit. She was always willing to try new things and dabbled in many occupations and hobbies. She loved to travel, at home or abroad accompanied by friends, family or alone, just because the spirit moved her. She dabbled in raft racing, writing poetry, art, ceramics, rug hooking, yoga, bring goods to the farmer’s market, flying, and even went so far as to get her pilot’s license. Jacqui was a member of the National Iris Society. She loved canoeing, kayaking, camping and would never turn down a family cookout. No matter what she was learning, trying or doing, Jacqui did it with a laugh and a smile. She particularly enjoyed gardening, and rarely missed a good yard sale or the opportunity to help a friend or neighbor, but most important to Jacqui was her family. She especially loved to take her grandchildren on great adventures. She was born September 2, 1939, in Bridgeport, Conn., and was predeceased by her parents, James F. Foran and Edith F. Flanagan and her sister Lorraine Barna Beech. The sixties were an exciting time for Jacqui in her zippy MG convertible. She went to college at UCONN, where she met the love of her life and achieved her Bachelor’s Degree in education. She married Raymond R. Clark Jr., on July 20, 1963 at St. Mark’s Church in Stratford, achieved her Masters of Education, became the mother of two daughters and they bought their first home in Ivoryton, Conn. ... all before the first man walked on the moon. Jacqui will be greatly missed by her husband, Raymond R. Clark Jr.; her daughter Colleen Savoie and her husband Daniel and her daughter Michelle Clark; as well as her grandchildren, Wyatt Clark, Rachael Savoie and Nicole (Savoie) St. Jean and her husband Paul St. Jean. Jacqui was an amazing woman who will be missed by family, friends, neighbors and community members alike, as she touched many with her cheerful spirit, unending sense of humor and her genuine friendship. She is preceded in death by her parents Dorothy King and Murray Paris, her husband of 30 years Robert “Bob” Conn of Lyndonville, VT on April 24, 2005, and her sister-in-law Beverly Paris. Jean was born on April 8, 1936 in St. Johnsbury, VT to Dorothy (Sherrer) and Murray Paris. She graduated from Lyndon Institute in 1954 and went on to graduate from Lyndon Teacher’s College (now LSC) with a degree in teaching. She began her teaching career in St. Johnsbury but the majority of her career was spent at Lyndon Corner School which later became Lyndon Town School, teaching the fourth grade. Her students were so very important to her and she will be remembered as one of those favorite teachers by many. Jean was an accomplished horsewoman and prior to becoming ill would often enjoy riding horseback with family. She was a supportive mother who cheered her children on in whatever they were involved with. She was a generous and witty woman who loved her friends and family; she enjoyed travel especially her summer trips to Maine. She was an active and dedicated member of the Methodist Church in Lyndonville and was a proud member of their choir. A funeral is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at Lyndonville United Methodist Church, the committal at Lyndon Center Cemetery will follow immediately. Rev. Barb Dwyer will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jean’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a local charity that benefits student education or elderly care. Gladys was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont on October 30, 1934 to Clyde and Blanche Gilbert Hale, one of fourteen children. She attended school in Sheffield, Vermont, and later marrying Clarence Ash and raised three children, Sharon, Patricia and Bernard. Gladys worked at the old Centers Department Store, was Manager at the Coffee Cup Restaurant in Woodsville, N.H.; worked at Wards Egg Farm in Monroe, New Hampshire, St. Johnsbury Academy in Food Service and lastly at the Darling Inn Meal Site. She was particularly fond of playing Bingo, cards, and loved going to Yard Sales. Gladys is survived by her three children, Sharon and Bernard Hubbard of Lyndonville, Patricia and her husband Reginald of West Newbury, VT; and Bernard and wife Laurie of Sheffield, Vermont as well as a step-son, Robert Fisher. She leaves four grandchildren Jamie Hubbard of New Britain, CT; Sarah Hubbard of Lyndonville, Stephanie Perkins of Newbury and Heather Weglarz of Quincy, MA. As well as two sisters Kay Shores of Lunenburg and Elaine Nunn of Passumpsic. Besides her father and mother, she was predeceased by her siblings Dale Thomas, Winifred Smires, Madelyn Paye, Walter Hale, Russell Hale, Leonard Hale, Kenneth Hale, Melvin Hale, Rachael Danforth, Lorraine Danforth, and Bernard Hale. , of Glover, VT and Mansfield, CT, passed peacefully at age 92 on Thursday, July 13, 2017 in her beloved Shadow Lake home. Born on August 12, 1924 in Craftsbury, VT and the daughter of Ellry and Mary Davis. Clemma attended high school at Craftsbury Academy graduating in 1943. While at the academy Clemma met her beloved Durward. She enjoyed telling us of her memories of Durward who would ski down the steep slopes of Ketchum Hill Road to visit her while they were dating in high school. Clemma completed the nursing program at Barre City Hospital in Barre, VT. Clemma and Durward were married June 30, 1946 after Durward returned home from serving 3 years in North Africa with the Army Air Force. They moved to Mansfield, CT where Clemma worked as a registered nurse at Windham Memorial Hospital in Willimantic, CT. She then worked at the Mansfield Training School, where she later retired after 25 years of service. Clemma and Durward worked full-time jobs, and sometimes multiple jobs, to make ends meet with a growing family. They enjoyed raising their children together, and instilled the value of hard work and the importance of family, which has stayed with them all to this day. Clemma supported and provided endless rides to sporting events, concerts and social functions for their children. Including taking time to be a Girl Scout Leader in the late 1950s. Clemma and Durward moved back to Vermont in 1971 to purchase Lyndonville Hardware in Lyndonville, VT. In 1975, they purchased St. Jay Hardware in St. Johnsbury, VT. Upon retirement, they became snowbirds and enjoyed Port St. Lucie, FL for the winters and Shadow Lake in the summers. She continued to stay busy and helped at the family hardware stores for many years. Clemma could never resist her favorite chocolates and always had a plate of homemade sweet treats for her many visitors. She enjoyed knitting special gifts for loved ones and had fun teaching her grandchildren to fish! Survivors include her seven children: Darwin Gebbie and his wife Priscilla of Lebanon, CT, Donna Clauson and her husband Jack of Mansfield, CT, John Gebbie of Waterford, VT, Bradley Gebbie and his wife Debbie of Glover, VT, Brenda Gebbie of Coventry, CT, Carol Shepherd and her husband Ron of Grantham, NH, and Linda Johnson and her husband Chris of Palm City, FL. She was loved by her 18 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, friends Lillian Connolly and Gwen Maynard of the Northeast Kingdom, and Ron and Norma Gingras from Mansfield, CT. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Durward, her sisters Gracie and Evelyn and her grandson Gregory Gebbie. Graveside Services will be held in Vermont at the East Craftsbury Cemetery, Whetstone Brook Rd, on July 22nd at 11 AM. , 82, died Saturday, March 18,2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 24, 1934 in Sheffield, VT the son of Harold and Della (LaCross) Ingalls. He attended schools in South Wheelock and also Lyndon Institute. Max had worked for many years for his brother Wallace Ingalls Construction Company in Lyndonville, VT. He also had owned and operated his own auto repair shop in Lyndonville, as well as helping to run the family farm in his younger years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping trips to Maine and Alaska, snowmobile racing and horses. He especially loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years Ruth Ingalls; one daughter Ginger Noyes, Lyndonville and her friend Bill Stinehour of St. Johnsbury, VT.; one son, Brad Ingalls of Burke Hollow, VT; four grandchildren, Jessica and her husband Scott, David and his wife Jenn, Stacy, Jeff and his wife Angel; eight great-grandchildren, Hailey, Brooke, Tyler, Isabella, Bryon, Quinten, Brandon and Ally; two brothers, Gene and his wife Anita, Gayle and his wife Peggy, one sister, Joan Smith and her husband Duane. He was predeceased by his daughter Judy Corrow, two brothers Wallace and Freeman, sister Ruby O’Connor and son-in-law Rodger Noyes. Graveside funeral services will be held in the spring in the family plot in the Lyndon Center Cemetery. There are no calling hours. , age 65 of West Burke passed away at his home on Saturday, April 22, 2017. He was born, the youngest of five children to the late Charles Curtis Knight and Alice Hill Knight in Providence, RI. William is survived by his children Jeremiah Maxwell Knight and his wife Samantha Knight of Newport, VT, a daughter Acacia Hill Knight and significant other Ronald Comeau of Sheffield; Melissa Newland of Danville who he considered a daughter for the past 30 years; grandchildren Zabrith Taron Knight of Burke; Deven Maxwell Knight and Mattisen Ava Knight of Newport, VT.; Ronald Ivan Comeau, Jr. of Sheffield; Ashley Comeau and Arrienne Comeau of St. Johnsbury also survived by his brother Roger Knight and sister Alison Knight as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his father and mother, William was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Cheryl Knight, his brothers Stephen and Webster. William was a veteran and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a friend to all and always helped those in need. He loved walking, fishing, camping and playing a good game of cribbage. He will be forever missed. She was raised in Old Saybrook, CT., where she attended public school and graduated from Old Saybrook High School. Marie moved to Vermont in 1986 and enjoyed the quiet, laid back lifestyle. She was an accomplished artist, creating many unique drawings and painting ostrich eggs. She also loved working in her flower gardens. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Marie is survived by her husband William and daughter Carole, both of West Burke; her mother Patricia Gage also of “West Burke; her two sons, Frank Maloney of St. Johnsbury and Vincent Maloney of Lyndonville; as well as her two grandchildren. Marie also leaves many friends and relatives in the Old Saybrook, Connecticut area. She was pre-deceased by her father, Kenneth Gage. A memorial service will be determined at a later date.

Littlefield age 87, passed away January 14, 2017i at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab, St. Johnsbury, VT after a long period of declining health. She was born in Lyndon Center, VT on January 13, 1931. Liz attended school in Lyndon graduating from Lyndon Institute and Lyndon Teachers College. Liz was for many years known for her love of music. She gave piano and organ lessons for many years in the area and worked at Melody Hill Farm in St. Johnsbury. She was best remembered for playing the organ and piano at Lyndon Center Baptist Church. Liz enjoyed teaching a Bible Study each week with a group of her closest friends. She enjoyed camping with her husband Allen, long car rides, crocheting, and eating at the diner. Liz was predeceased by her husband Allen in 2011, and a daughter Martha in 1997. She is survived by her daughter and caretaker Sara, her sons Rodney and John, and daughters Marilyn and Margaret. She is also survived by her brother Ora Grant, Lakeland, Fla. and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Lyndon Center Cemetery on June 10, 2017. passed away peacefully on May 17, 2017 at her home in Wake Robin in Shelburne, Vermont. Betsy was born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania on July 14, 1919, daughter of A. Coleman and Mary Root Smith. When visiting friends in Charleston, South Carolina she met her future husband, John E. Parker, Jr. They married in 1943 and after the war, moved to West Orange, New Jersey, and subsequently to Summit where they raised their family. Betsy was an avid and talented gardener, and was a past president of the Summit Garden Club. She was proud of her family heritage and was an unfailing supporter of her family. She will be sorely missed by her children, grandchildren and many dear friends. Betsy moved to Woodbury, Vermont in 1984, and subsequently to Wake Robin in 1994. She maintained a beautiful garden and was active in many phases of the community. She had a lively and independent spirit, and reveled in the beauty of the natural world. She was predeceased by her husband, John in 1974. She is survived by her children: John R. Parker (Faith), Coleman B. Parker (Jody), and Anne Parker Brigham. She is also survived by her five grandchildren: Katherine S. Parker, John R. Parker, Jr., Hannah E. Parker, Brinton R. Parker, and Parker Brigham. , 79, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, January 21, 2017. He had a love of the outdoors and many hobbies including hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also enjoyed brewing his own beer, singing, whistling tunes, and telling jokes. Spending time with family and pets was one of his favorite things to do. He sadly leaves behind his wife Nancy Plante of Lyndonville; his son Gregoire Plante of West Newbury; his grandchildren: Joseph Plante and wife Katie of Newbury, Charles Plante III of San Francisco, CA, Adam Plante and husband John of Manchester, NH, Brook Robillard and husband Chris of Epsom, NH, Daniel Hawkins of Portland, OR and Timothy Labor Jr. and wife Lahanah of Sanford, ME; his six great grandchildren; brother Robert Plante of Bradford and sister Janeane Bruno of Bradford; dog Peanut. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Gabrielle (Viviers) Plante, his sons Charles Plante Jr and Guy Plante, and two of his siblings. A celebration of life will be planned for the spring. Friends and family will be notified of the date and time.

, beloved son and brother, died on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at his parents’ home in Lyndonville, Vermont. Gabe had a desperate illness from which he could find no escape – severe depression. As a result, he took his own life. Gabe was born April 29, 1990, in Mekelle, Ethiopia. In 2000 he and his younger sister and brother were adopted by Jim and Caryl Proctor, then of South Royalton, Vermont. He graduated from Mid-Vermont Christian School in Quechee, Vermont, in 2008; earned an Associate’s degree from Garden City Community College in Kansas in 2010; and a Bachelor’s degree from Western State Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado, in 2013. Gabe was a world-class distance runner. In 2013 he was the national champion in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters in NCAA Division II. He went on to become a professional runner in the marathon and half-marathon, qualifying to try out for the US Olympic team at the marathon trials in 2016. Gabe was a young man whose heart was as big as all the world. He was a devoted son and a loving brother. He loved children, especially his nephews and nieces. He was a very kind and generous person, who always wanted to help others. He always made a point of being kind to people whom others were rejecting. He had a deep longing to care for his extended family back in Ethiopia. His main motivation in running was to raise money that he could give away to his family. He is survived by his parents; his sister Joanna and family of Alamagordo, New Mexico; his brother Sam, a student at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona; adoptive sister Hannah Glass-McShinsky and family of Sharon, Vermont; adoptive brother Josh Glass and family of Marietta, Georgia; and many loving family members in the USA and in Ethiopia. passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends Monday, February 13th. He was born in Lyndon, September 3, 1946 son of Nina and Guy Williamson. He attended Lyndon Institute and served in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Norfolk, VA where he achieved the rank of helmsman, responsible for steering ships into ports around the world. Pete joked that he lived on a ship for four years and couldn’t swim a stroke. Pete married Juanita Peck in 1963 and they had two beautiful daughters that Pete was extremely proud of. What a blessing Christina and Tara were able to care for him during his final days, giving him much love and encouragement. Pete began his career at Tap and Die but excelled in the lumber business, working at Wheeler’s Building Materials, Wayne’s Building Materials, and Lyndonville Hardware. He loved working, retirement was not an option. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and exploring the outdoors in his Jeep or on the four-wheeler with family and friends but he was well known for his competitive weight lifting achievements and exercise ethic. Pete won numerous awards at Vermont and New England power lifting championships. He still holds the record in a men’s master class. Pete will be sadly missed by his loving companion, Judy Hughes; daughters, Christina Lacroixand husband Rocky, and Tara Williamson and companion Nate; four grandsons, Erich, Zacary, Travis and Sawyer; several sisters, and brother, Charles, many nieces, nephews, and innumerable friends. During Pete’s recent illness, his friends’ visits with stories were his best medicine. The family is deeply indebted to all of you for making him laugh and smile.
