, 74, of Derby, formerly of Arlington, Massachusetts, died in Derby, surrounded by family, after a difficult battle with cancer on June 26, 2009. Mrs. Barry was born December 6, 1934, in Medford, Massachusetts, a daughter of Carl and Agnes (Johnson) Carlson. On October 6, 1956, she married Ronald Earle Barry, who survives her. She was a hard-working woman throughout most of her lifetime and was recognized as an exceptional administrative assistant, working for some of the most highly regarded doctors in Massachusetts. She worked for more than 20 of those years for the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts. Earlier in her working career she worked for an advertising agency in New York City. She loved to draw. She had tremendous artistic ability. She kept her drawings private, and only those she was close with were allowed to view her work as she was her own worst critic. She enjoyed doing New York Times crossword puzzles and drinking Diet Coke. She was an avid reader and a tremendous cook. She loved Sunday morning breakfast at the East Side Restaurant. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ronald Barry, of Derby; by two children, Raymond Barry of Newport and Craig Barry and his wife, Kristi, of Derby; by her granddaughter Madison Barry of Derby; by parents-in-law, Bill and Bonnie Wheeler, of Derby Line; by sister-in-law Merilyn Barry of Derby; by niece Kimberly Flynn and her husband, Keith, of Derby Line; by nephews Kyle Berry and his wife, Gail, of Derby and Kord Barry and his wife, Mary, of Derby; by cousin Eleanor (Carlson) Hutchinson and her husband, David, of Burlington, Massachusetts; and by her collie Shannon, with whom she had a special bond. She had many close, personal friends from near and far and extremely caring neighbors who willingly gave of themselves throughout her illness. On December 8, 1934, she married Maurice Colburn, who predeceased her. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints. Everyone who knew her loved her and she will be greatly missed. , 82, beloved wife of Gerald, died in Newport on June 23, 2009. Mrs. Dickerman was one of four children born to H. Victor and Helen (Davio) Ellsworth on September 6, 1926, in Newport. She worked for several chain stores when they were still living in Newport. She was a member of the Morning Star Rebecca Lodge for several years. She enjoyed playing solitaire, watching her soap operas, cross stitching, and bowling. She was a very active member of her church, its youth activities programs, and the women's Tuxis Club. She and her husband enjoyed taking bus tours for several years. She was always ready and willing to give a helping hand whenever she could, including baking homemade dishes. She is survived by her husband, Gerald; by her son Richard and his wife, Edna, of Indiana; by her daughter Vickie Counts and her husband, Vanoy, of Florida; by grandchildren: Andrew Dickerman of Indiana, Patricia Sonnier and her husband, Daniel, of Washington, and Robert and his wife, Amanda Counts, of Texas; by great-grandchildren Sarah Sonnier of Washington and Nathaniel Counts of Texas; by several nieces and nephews; and by many friends of the Newport Baptist Church. , 82, of East Hardwick, a lifelong area resident, died Thursday evening, June 25, 2009, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Moffatt was born February 12, 1927, in Greensboro, a daughter of John C. and Daisy (Willey) Hunt. She attended Greensboro public schools. On July 1, 1946, she married Waldon Peasley Moffatt in Greensboro. In her earlier years she stayed at home to care for her young children. She later worked for several businesses, including the East Hardwick Creamery, Sprague Electric in Barre for 21 years, and Cabot Creamery. She was a seamstress for CoMart Stitching in East Hardwick and a caregiver for elderly people in the Greensboro and Morrisville areas. She retired in the late-1980s. She attended Hope Community Church in Walden. She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, canning, rug making, and knitting. Survivors include three sons: Gary Moffatt and his wife, Margaret, of Houlton, Maine, John Moffatt and his wife, Melissa, of Stannard, and James Moffatt of East Hardwick; six daughters: Phyllis Cloutier and her husband, John, and Mary Jean Hill and her husband, Lanny, all of East Hardwick, Elaine LaMadeleine and her husband, Ronald, of Newport, Anne Stevens of Hardwick, Sherry Bowen of Leavenworth, Kansas, and Sandy Davison and her husband, Delton, of Bedford, Massachusetts; 28 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several cousins. She held membership with the 4-H Club, and she took in exchange students for seven years. She was an avid reader and loved family gatherings. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her cats and dogs. , 40, beloved husband of Marley Willis, died June 24, 2009, at his home in Westfield. Mr. Willis was born June 10, 1969, in Newport, a son of Dennis and Linda (Collins) Willis. On January 1, 2004, he married Marley Kittredge, who survives him. He enjoyed motorcycling, using his utility vehicle, working on cars, helping others, hunting, and fishing. In 1990 he joined the Vermont Army National Guard in Newport on an armored crew as a tank commander. He served until 2005. In 2005 he joined the Vermont Air National Guard and was on the 158th Fighter Wing until his death. , 59, of North Troy, formerly of Ashburnham, Massachusetts, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin. Mr. Ruscio, son of the late Francesco and Joan (Gaskin) Ruscio, was born April 5, 1950, in Long Branch, New Jersey. He was raised in New Jersey and attended Merrimack College in Andover, Massachusetts, where he graduated as valedictorian of his class with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He received an international fellowship award from Rotary International for a year of study abroad in the field of biomedical engineering at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. He and his beloved wife, Helene, settled in Ashburnham, where they raised their family for more than 20 years before moving to Vermont in 2001. He was a master woodwright who was the sole proprietor of Christian Steward Company in Gardner, Massachusetts. He crafted many types of toys and decorative and household items. Notably he provided the wooden shingles for the restoration of both the Roosevelt Carriage House in Hyde Park and Mark Twain's boyhood home. He loved to tinker and always relished the challenge of fixing things. He enjoyed maple sugaring, gardening, and antiquing. He delighted in hosting and cooking for family and friends on any occasion. As busy as he was, the love of his family prevailed over all. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of nearly 35 years, Helene (Croteau) Ruscio; by his children: Lea H. Ruscio of Vienna, Austria, Joseph F. Ruscio and his wife, Jory, of San Francisco, California, Aimee C. Ruscio of Washington, D.C., Christopher A. Ruscio of San Jose, California, Kathleen M. She liked to cook and kept many friends happy and full with her homemade doughnuts. She was a dental assistant for many years and was later employed at the Big Y Deli in Longmeadow. She graduated from the High School of Commerce in Springfield and continued her education at dental school. She was an elder with God's Victorious Army. , 86, of Hardwick died Friday, July 10, 2009, at Copley Hospital in Morrisville. Mr. Allen was born June 3, 1923, in Roxbury, Massachusetts, a son of Roscoe and Inez (Storey) Allen. He attended Walden and East Hardwick public schools. He entered the U.S. Army on November 14, 1945, in Rutland. He served his country in Germany and was honorably discharged on May 19, 1947, at Fort Dix, New Jersey. On October 10, 1953, he married Pauline Marion Kelton in Hardwick. In his earlier years he worked on farms, logged, and drove milk and pulp trucks. He was active in the construction of the Mystic Bridge in Boston. For more than 25 years he was employed by the town of Hardwick on its road crew. He retired in 1989 and worked as a part-time janitor for the U.S. Postal Service in Hardwick and did lawn work for local families. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9653 in Morrisville and a past member of the Hardwick Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and watching the birds. Survivors include four sons and their partners: Donald of St. Johnsbury, Rodney of Hardwick, Douglas and Crystal of Hardwick, and Bradley and Karen of Colchester; stepson Steve Baker of Barre; two daughters and their partners, Jolene Maxham and Ethan of Bethel and Sherri Allen and Sue of St. Johnsbury; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters: Hazel Brown of Melrose, Massachusetts, Mildred Savard of Dover, New Hampshire, and Edith Allen of Boston, Massachusetts; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Corrow was born in his grandfather's home in Westmore on June 11, 1930, the oldest of five children born to Clarence and Ethel (Friend) Corrow. He graduated from Barton Academy and later attended Lyndon State College with a scholarship. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951. He married Mary Therese Claremont in 1954. After he left the Air Force, he and his wife moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked for many years in a drugstore. In 1965 they moved to East Arlington, where they lived for many years. They were divorced several years later. He worked at Johnson Controls in Bennington as a shift supervisor for several years until he retired in 1992. He was predeceased by his former wife in 2001; by his daughter Maureen in 1979; and by his brothers Francis and Maurice. He is survived by his sisters Barbara Staves and Dorothy Tourville of Tupper Lake, New York; by sons: Micky and his wife, Doreen, of Hartland, Matthew and his wife, Carol, of Barto, Pennsylvania, Martin and his wife, Valerie, of Wells, and Terry of Rutland; by daughter Tammy of Latham, New York; by several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and by two very special great-grandchildren. , 83, died Thursday, July 9, 2009, in Newport. Mrs. Day was born September 21, 1925, a daughter of George Theberge and Yvonne Thivierge Theberge of Compton, Quebec. She married Calvin Paul Day on Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 1947. They lived in Derby Line most of their lives until retirement age, then moved to Newport. She lived her remaining years at Bel-Aire Quality Care Nursing Center. She was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She worked very hard managing the house while raising four children. She had an occasional job with Montgomery Ward, especially during the holiday rush, and worked at the Newport Dry Cleaners during the big strike at Butterfields to help during that time. She worked hand in hand with her husband, Calvin, on a large vegetable garden and sold the produce in a roadside stand called Day's Market Garden. She sold the vegetables, and her husband worked the garden along with their children and many other helpers hired from town. In later years the garden land was sold for housing lots, and the town named the road Day Street. Just before retirement, she and her husband sold their home in Derby Line and moved to Newport. A very important date in her life was March 14, 1956, when she took an oath to become a naturalized U.S. citizen. She was very social and loved going out for coffee at McDonald's with her girlfriends during the day; in the evening couples would gather there to visit. They were affectionately known as the coffee club. She and her husband were wonderful skaters and dancers. When Mr. Day ran the skating rink in Derby Line, it was a common sight to see them skating arm in arm. They hosted many house parties where friends and neighbors would come to dance and laugh. As their children started leaving the nest, it prompted them to travel for visits. They traveled all around the U.S. They also went to Europe and toured five major cities. She had a deep Catholic faith. She and her husband dreamed of going to Jerusalem; when they retired they went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. This was their trip of a lifetime. She was very active in the church and enjoyed going to meetings and study groups. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and a former member of a ladies auxiliary. She is survived by her children: Joan Derosier and her husband, Dennis, of Stephens City, Virginia, Carole White and her husband, Robert, of Steilacoon, Washington, Steven Day and his wife, Valerie, of Swanton, and Tina Guyette and Robert Thayer of Newport; by her sister Jeanne Gaudreau of Newport; by her brother Andre Theberge and his wife, Claudette, of Hobe Sound, Florida; by sisters-in-law Irene Theberge of Stanstead, Quebec, and Clara Day of St. Johnsbury; by seven grandchildren; by seven great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Calvin, her husband of 61 years; by her sister Lucienne Waite; and by brothers Paul Theberge and Laurent Theberge. A Mass of Christian Burial was performed July 14 at St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church in Newport.

, 52, of Holland died July 9, 2009, in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Mr. Markwell was born April 4, 1957, in Newmarket, Ontario, a son of Percy and Edna (Keeble) Markwell. He married Paula Grimes on July 14, 1979. She survives him. He was a truck driver and worked at the recycling center for the town of Holland for 15 years. He served in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed working in the woods and on his motorcycles and cars and spending time with his family at cookouts. He is survived by his two children, Kasey Jean Markwell and her fiance, Patrick Sargent, of Holland and Brandon Adam Markwell of Holland; by five siblings: Loretta Donovan and her husband, Dwayne, of Bloomfield, Wayne Markwell of Marshfield, Bruce Markwell and his wife, Molly, of Walden, Laurie Stevens and her husband, Eugene, of Orleans, and Christopher Markwell of Newport; and by several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

, 59, of Glover died July 9, 2009, in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Mr. O'Neil was born July 14, 1949, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, a son of Timothy and Mary (Boisvert) O'Neil. On September 25, 1977, he married Millie Gomes, who survives him. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and later was a truck driver for Cabot for 22 years. He attended North Andover High School and graduated from Northeast Transmission School in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a member of the Hardwick American Legion. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, boating, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an easygoing and laidback person, and he will be missed by many. He is survived by four children: Jennifer Florin of Liberty, Maine, Heather O'Neil and her husband, Adam Wheeler, of Orleans, Melanie Carrunchio of New Jersey, and Stephen Marshall of Plainville, Massachusetts; by grandchildren: Andrew and Brendon Parrish, Cooper and Spencer Wheeler, Scott Winhold, Zachary Florin, Paige Marshall, and Lucabell Marshall; by his brother Timmy O'Neil and his wife, Brenda, of Belmont, Maine; and by two sisters, Carol Catarius of Salem, New Hampshire, and Patricia Ranlett and her husband, Lloyd, of Hamstead, New Hamsphire. , 92, of Newport died July 12, 2009, in Newport. Mr. Picard was born September 11, 1916, in North Williston, a son of Alexander and Sophronia (Douglas) Picard. On June 2, 1947, he married Gladys Mae McMasters, who predeceased him. He was a turret gunner in the U.S. Army during World War II. His employment included working in construction, building huge dams, surveying for the state of Vermont, and digging graves for Pine Grove Cemetery. Later he worked at Hoods for 16 years and Ethan Allen for 25 years. He was a strong supporter of the National Rifle Association and was a member of American Legion Post 21, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a spring icon, often seen taking pictures on the bridge while fishing. He was featured in the New York Times and other newspapers for pickerel shooting. He frequented local stores and businesses and loved lots of hugs. He is survived by his children: Mary L. Kirby and her husband, John, of Wilton, Maine, Linda G. McKinney of Newport, Robert A. Picard of North Concord, and Carol A. Picard and her companion, Steven J. Orvis, of Lowell; by grandchildren: Heidi Poole and her husband, Mark, Tina Meserve and her husband, Jeff, Christopher Whitney and his wife, Brenda, Scott Britch and his wife, Kim, Shawn Britch and his wife, Karen, Dawn Marie Frutti and her husband, Frank, Nathaniel Michaud and his wife, Misty, Erin Michaud, and Casey Cargill; by recently reunited grandchildren: Debbie Rich, Vickie Parkinson, Reggie Ashley, Missy Russell, and Cheryl Ashley; by 14 great-grandchildren; and by son-in-law Edward Ashley of Cornish, New Hampshire. She and her husband, Durward, spent most of their lives in the Northeast Kingdom. After attending school and earning her teaching certificate she taught in several towns including Lowell, Troy, and Newport at Sacred Heart Elementary School. She liked to read, tend to her flower garden, and go for walks and rides around the area. When she was younger, she and her husband enjoyed going to dances and listening to country music. She is survived by her husband, Durward; by her children: Carolyn Lesperance and her husband, Gordon, of Westfield, William Collins of Westfield, Paul Collins and his wife, Ann, of Newport, Susan Pion and her husband, Gerard, of Lowell and Pamila Niles and her husband, Stuart, of Shirley, Massachusetts; by 15 grandchildren; by 23 great-grandchildren; by her sister Beatrice Jones of St. Johnsbury; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandchildren "Little" Gerard Pion and Lisa Collins; by five brothers; and by four sisters. , 89, beloved husband of Rose, died in Newport on Friday, July 17, 2009. Mr. Desmarais was born April 21, 1920, in Barton, a son of Willie and Parmelie (Perron) Desmarais. He and his wife were married in 1943 and farmed in Irasburg and West Glover for more than 15 years. He worked for Hank Sanders, Puss Royer, and Andy Bonneau as a farm equipment salesman. He opened his own business, Desmarais Farm Equipment in Orleans, and operated it until he sold it to his sons. He continued to help his sons. He and his wife enjoyed traveling where they spent winters in Florida. He loved his family and delighted in having conversations with them and his friends. He was a man who enjoyed life and always had a smile on his face. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons Roger Desmarais and his wife, Maureen, and Rene Desmarais and his wife, Kathy; by grandchildren: Andre Desmarais and and his wife, Kim, of Barton, Cynthia Kelley and her husband, John, of Palm Coast, Florida, Jacqueline Desmarais of Waltham, Massachusetts, and Jennifer Bashar and her husband, Greg, of Trumble, Connecticut; by eight great-grandchildren; and by his sister Juliette Leduc of Lyndonville. He was predeceased by two brothers, Roland and O'Neil Desmarais; and by two sisters, Simone and Corrine. She worked many years for the House of Troy, Concord Manufacturing, and Quality Control Stitching. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, reading, and cooking for the family. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On December 15, 1945, he married Marguerite Gale, who survives him. He was employed by the federal government as a U.S. Customs officer and port director, retiring in 1978. He was a great supporter of the Wednesday Night Supper Club. He was a lover of golf, being a lifetime member of the Newport Country Club. He was past president and a very devoted member of the Newport Rotary Club, a charter member of Newport Elks Club 2155, a member of American Legion Post 21 of Newport, and a former board member and supporter of Indoor Recreation of Orleans County (IROC). He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Horton, of Newport; by three 3 sons: John Horton and his wife, Sarah Drown, of Georgia, Vermont, Robert Horton and his wife, Jane, of Orleans, and Jim Horton of Newport; by four grandchildren: Maura Hemingway and her husband, Christopher, of St. Albans, Travis Horton and his wife, Michelle, of Brownington, Kevin Horton of Westmore, and Bria J. Horton of Derby; by five great-grandchildren: Christa, Cameryne, and Carly Hemingway, Molly Horton, and Samantha Parenteau; and by several nieces and nephews. , 89, died of age-related causes and joined the Lord on June 27, 2009, in Oakland, California. Mrs. Piette was born to William Britch and Bertha McKinney Britch on June 25, 1920. She married Gilbert "Gilly" A. Piette in April 29, 1939, in Newport. She and her husband moved from Newport to Walnut Creek, California, with their children in July 1954 and later settled in Hayward, California. She is survived by her four children: Louis G. Piette of Waldport, Oregon, Jean M. Piette McCormick and her husband, Dan, of Santa Cruz, California, Pamela T. Piette of Suisun, California, and Lea G. Piette Turner of Tracy, California; by 12 grandchildren; and by 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers: Stanford "Kit," William, Frank, Roland "Hun," and Jack Britch; and by her sister Christine Britch Armstrong. She was cremated in Oakland, and it was her wish to have her remains placed next to her husband, Gilbert A. Piette, who died October 28, 1983, in her home state of Vermont at St. Mary's Cemetery in Newport. Both she and her husband always said, "You can take the Vermonter out of Vermont, but never take Vermont out of the Vermonter." Final interment will be in the loving hands of her nephew Roland N. Britch Jr. and staff of Curtis-Britch Converse-Rushford Funeral Homes. Donations in her name may be placed in any children's charity.

, 85, of Rutland died July 14, 2009, at Rutland Regional Medical Center after a short illness. Mr. Stevens was born August 11, 1923, in Newport, a son of James A. and Gladys (Pinkham) Stevens. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Derby Line. He graduated from Derby Academy and Burditt Business College in Boston, after which he entered the U.S. Army Air Force, serving in the southwest Pacific during World War II. His outfit, the 421st Night Fighter Squadron, operated out of many bases in New Guinea, the Philippines, and le Shima. After graduation from Boston University in 1949, he joined Central Vermont Public Service Corporation. At the time of his retirement in 1985 he was assistant treasurer. He was a member of the First Universalist Parish of Derby Line. Survivors include three nephews: Lynn W. Stevens of Newport, Barry J. Stevens of Deerfield, New Hampshire, and Timothy J. Stevens of West Brattleboro; and great-nephew Jeffrey A. Stevens of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was predeceased by his parents in 1980 and 1981 and by his brother James E. Stevens in 1989. , 70, of East Charleston died July 19, 2009, at his home. Mr. Tenney was born September 6, 1938, in Tunbridge, a son of George and Elgie (Sleeper) Tenney. He worked many years as a logger and carpenter; he owned a grocery store. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards. He did his own mechanic work and could fix mostly anything. He was very thoughtful and caring to his family, friends, and customers and was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone in need. , 66, of Newport Center died peacefully in his home on Friday, July 24, 2009. Mr. Birdsall was born November 27, 1942, in Bridgeton, New Jersey, a son of George E. and Lucy (Pearce) Birdsall. On April 20, 1968, he married Judi Long, who predeceased him in 2005 after 37 years of marriage. He was a computer technician for Bell Atlantic Telephone Company with 27 years service. He retired in 1992. He moved to Vermont in 1992 and worked for Northern State Correctional Facility for several years until he retired in 2005. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of American Legion Post 28 of North Troy. He is survived by his children Leisa Powers and her husband, Mark, of Greenwich, New Jersey, and Marnie Willis and her husband, Rob, of Newport Center; by three grandchildren: Jeremy and Colin Powers and Yvan Willis; by his mother, Lucy K. Birdsall, of Bridgeton; and by his brother Neil Birdsall of Ocean City, New Jersey. He was predeceased by his father, George E. Birdsall. , 87, of Wantagh, New York, died July 23, 2009, in Newport. Mr. Grant was born December 15, 1921, a son of Jay Pittman and Helma (Jensen) Grant in Jersey City, New Jersey. He served his country in World War II in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bunker Hill stationed in the Pacific Ocean. He was discharged in 1947. He married Lois Moss on July 2, 1948, and they were happily married for 61 years. His wife predeceased him on April 18. They made their home in Wantagh, where they raised two children, Keith and Patti. Mr. Grant made his living as a plant supervisor for an injection molding company, while Mrs. Grant taught kindergarten in Copiague schools. They were charter members of the Levittown Community Church in New York and remained active members throughout their lives. Mr. Grant began spending summers in Westmore when he was a young boy, and he worked at the Willoughvale Farm when it was a working farm in the 1930s. When he married Lois, they began a lifelong tradition of spending vacations at Lake Willoughby after stopping at Taylor's Cabins on their way home from their Canadian honeymoon. He and his family spent time at the Willoughvale, Green Acres, Fosters Grove, and finally with the Lukas in Brownington. He was a member of Orleans Country Club for many years. He found great pleasure in the wildlife that Vermont had to offer, especially feeding the birds and chipmunks. He is survived by his two children, Keith Grant and his wife, Charlotte, and Patti Lukas and her husband, Gary; by seven grandchildren: Kevin Grant and his fiancee, Diana, Thomas Grant and his wife, Calista, Colleen Grant, Nicholas Carrillo and his wife, Meredith, Shaun Carrillo and his fiancee, Valerie, Christopher Lukas and Randy Lukas; and by great-grandson Trevor Grant. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date at Levittown Community Church.

, 61, died peacefully at his home in North Troy, surrounded by his family and close friends, after a courageous battle with cancer, on July 20, 2009. Mr. Sheltra was born December 16, 1947, in Westfield, a son of Forrest Sheltra and Lillian (Pope) Baraw. He was raised in Orleans. He worked on a mink farm as a boy. He served his country as a member of the United States Army and fought in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. He was discharged with honors. He became a maintenance man and worked at the Kraft/Agri-Mark cheese plant for many, many years. He also worked at Columbia Forest Products, and most recently he was working full time at Jay Peak Ski Resort. He will be missed by all his close friends at Jay Peak. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and his dog James. He loved camping, getting away, working on cars, and fixing stuff. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He leaves behind his wife and best friend, Carol Sheltra. He is also survived by two brothers, Tim Baraw of Newport and Steve Baraw of Westfield; by four sisters: Jackie Arel and her husband, Chuck, of Vergennes, Judy Drown of Randolph, Sherryl Sheltra of Newport, and Penny Coe and her husband, Garry, of Newport Center; by five children: Shelley and his wife, Kathy, of Newport Center, Scott and his partner, Melissa, of Troy, Barbara of Newport, and twin sons, Nicholas and Nathan (Sheltra) Burleigh of Windsor; by stepchildren: Michael Stacey and his wife, Natalie, of Fort Knox, Kentucky, Jennifer Messier of Newport, April Stacey and her partner, Todd Daigle, of Westfield, and Kevin Stacey and his wife, Becky, of Morrisville. She is survived by her daughter Teala Morse and her husband, Reggie, of Abercorn; by her two grandchildren, Michael and Mathew Morse; by her sister Pauline Sweet of Enosburg; by two brothers, Roland Blanchard and his wife, Shirley, of Newport Center and Steve Blanchard of Enosburg; by her nieces and nephews; by her former husband and friend Roy Spencer of Sutton, Quebec; and by other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Barbara Gerrow, on June 26. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, at the Albany Cemetery with the Reverend Nathan Strong officiating.
