, 86, of Westmore died peacefully on February 28, 2008, in Barton. Mr. Perkins was born September 21, 1921, in Westmore, a son of Alvah and Carrie (Smith) Perkins. On August 6, 1945, he married Jeanne Geoffrey, who survives him. He was a carpenter by trade, and he owned and operated, along with his wife, the Perkins Hilltop Cottages in Westmore for over 50 years. He was a town selectman and deputy forest fire warden for many years. He was responsible for the town of Westmore receiving its first streetlights. He loved being in the woods, sugaring, hunting, skiing, and fishing. He loved Willoughby Lake, and he loved his children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful community-minded individual, and he loved joking with people. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Perkins, of Westmore; by three children: Roy Perkins and his wife, Claire, of Westmore, Beverly Decker and her husband, Robert, of Westmore, and Kathy Joseph and her husband, Larry, of Murrieta, California; by four grandchildren: David Perkins and his partner, Jenn Conley, ofWestmore, Penny Johnson and her husband, Kimball, of Westmore, and Ryan and Jessica Joseph of Santa Rose, California; by two great-grandchildren, Chelsea Johnson and Samuel Perkins, both of Westmore; by his brother Ralph Perkins and his wife, Mabel, of West Charleston; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers: Gerald, Joe, Clifton, Randolph, and Harvey; and by two sisters, Eva Randall and Thelma Cole. Mrs. Lontine was born February 1, 1947, in Newport, a daughter of Leo and Thelma (Morse) Cheney. On June 7, 1974, she married Richard "Dick" Lontine, who survives her. In 1988 she was employed by the Spears Pharmacy in Enosburg Falls, and for the last six years she was manager at the Enosburg Pharmacy. Her passion and joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader, and she enjoyed knitting and sewing. She enjoyed outdoor activites, especially swimming and camping. She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard "Dick" Lontine, of East Berkshire; by her children: Robin Kelley and her companion, Tommy Gale, of Sheldon, Tawnya Tipper and her husband, Dale, of Lexington, South Carolina, Carmen Poland and her husband, Robert, of Georgia, Shannon Lontine and her companion, John Rosploch, of Montgomery Center, and Peggy Lontine and her companion, Edmund Bryce, of Enosburg Falls; by her grandchildren: Kyle Churchill and his wife, Amber, Jessie Kelley and her fiancé, David Peters, Kaylee Tipper, Jared and Brooke Poland, Sierra Dunakin, Savannah Lontine, and Ethan and Ian Bryce; by her great-grandchildren: Brianna Kelley, Hailey Churchill, Brandon Kane, and Brett Peters; by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; by her brother Frank Cheney Sr. of Newport; and by two sisters, Beverly Britch of Newport and Diane Renihan and her husband, David, of Jupiter, Florida. She entered the United States Air Force in 1978 and served five and half years on active duty. , 101, of Newport and Derby, died in Derby Line on Tuesday, March 4, 2008. Mrs. Patenaude was born October 12, 1906, in Connecticut, a daughter of Arthur and Emma (Monty) Gendron. She married her first husband, Gerard "Gerry" Chouinard, on July 3, 1934, and he predeceased her in 1975. On January 3, 1979, she married Abel Patenaude, who died in 1996. She worked with her first husband, Gerry, in their shoe repair store on Main Street in Newport for many years. She also worked for several years in the former Belle Shoppe. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo and entertaining. She loved her family and always put them first. She derived great pleasure in cooking for them. She spent winters in Florida with her second husband, Abel, and did a lot of other traveling. She spent several happy and well cared for years as a resident of Michaud Manor. She is survived by her daughters: Geraldine Galipeau and her husband, Reynold, of Massachusetts, Rose Marie Allard and her husband, John, of Tennessee, Monica Chouinard of Derby, and Jane Davis of Albany; by ten grandchildren; by eight great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews. When she married Abel, her family greatly increased in size with the addition of the following children: Alphonse and Yvette Patenaude of Derby Line, Gus and Sally Patenaude of Derby Line, Theresa Roy of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Albert and Berthe Patenaude of Derby Line, Maurice and Denise Patenaude of Derby, Anna Blalock of Texas, and John and Susanne Patenaude of New Hampshire, as well as 38 more grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters: Bertha Lanoue, Alma Bouchard, and Annette Joyal; and by brothers Philip and Arthur Gendron. , 86, of Newport and Fort Myers, Florida, died peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2008, at his home in Newport. The youngest of four children, Dr. Howe was born in St. Johnsbury on May 31, 1921, to Charles and Maude Howe. He graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Navy and he served on the USS Bremerton during World War II. He returned to Vermont after the war and married Elena Coletti, to whom he has been married 61 years. She survives him. He began his optometric practice in Windsor before moving to Newport in 1946, where he was a local optometrist for over 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and skiing. He treasured many enjoyable days spent at the Newport Country Club, and "Doc Howe's group" was a familiar sight on the fairways. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, the Rotary Club, the Elks Club, and the Newport Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Elena, and their two sons and their families: Gregory Howe, his wife, Billie, and their children Emily and Lindsay Howe of Derby; and Dr. James Howe, his wife, Rita, their children Tanner Howe and his wife, Hillery, and their daughter Chloe of New York City, Justin Howe of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Andrew and Julia Howe of Shelburne. He is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and George Howe; and by one sister, Muriel Wood. , 52, of Irasburg died Monday, March 3, 2008, as the result of an automobile accident in Wolcott. Mr. Harmon was born July 21, 1955, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, a son of Merton and Jean Henry Harmon. He was a 1974 graduate of Peoples Academy and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked as an electrician for several years after completing his military service. He was a member of Puffer United Methodist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion in Morrisville. He was an avid sports fan enjoying the Boston Bruins, Celtics, and Red Sox, New England Patriots, and NASCAR. As he was unable to get out much recently, he enjoyed following the Lake Region Union High School basketball teams on their runs through the state playoffs on the radio. His grandchildren were his life; he loved to play ball with them, push them in their swings, and give them wheelchair rides. On November 25, 1954, she married Richard Hannux, who predeceased her in 1999. She was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 2882 of Island Pond and the Ladies Auxiliary of the fire department. She enjoyed outings with her friends. , 79, of Holland died March 9, 2008, at his home. Mr. Graves was born March 26, 1928, a son of Elwin and Sarah (White) Graves. He married Mildred Porter on October 26, 1950. She predeceased him on August 26, 2003. He was a past member of the American Legion and Masons and a member of the Holland Historical Society and the Holland Methodist Church. He joined the U.S. Army as a young man. He retired after working for the town of Holland as an equipment operator for over 20 years. Among other jobs, he worked at Butterfields and as a truck driver. He loved to hunt and fish and could fix most anything, which was most appreciated by the family. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who liked family gatherings and visits. He is survived by his children: Sheryl Mears and her husband, Carl, of Ascutney, Sandra Carter and her husband, Richard, of Connecticut, Linda Bowen and her husband, Lance, of Derby Line, James Graves of Holland, and Angela Gray and her husband, Ellis, of Derby; by 17 grandchildren; by 13 great-grandchildren; by his brother Lee Graves of California; by his sister Bessie Hastings and her husband, Skip, of Derby; and by several nieces and nephews. , 87, of Greensboro Bend died in the peace of his home on Friday, March 7, 2008. Born in Walden on January 28, 1921, Mr. Dunbar was a son of Harvey and Maude (Burnham) Dunbar. On February 14, 1942, he married Marie Paule Demers. He attended Walden School, a one-room schoolhouse. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He spent most of his early adult years as a self-employed lumberjack. One of his notable accomplishments in his 20-plus years as a lumberjack was clearing the land for Hazen Union High School. He traded in his ax for a hammer and went to work for contractors Iglehart & Merrill as a finish carpenter for 20 years, retiring in 1983. He continued to work as a caretaker for numerous summer homes around Caspian Lake. He was locally known as a jack-of-all-trades. He was also a civil servant who served on the Greensboro School Board and as a town constable. He was a parishioner at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Greensboro Bend and a past fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially known for his deer-hunting accomplishments. He won the state acclaim for a 284-pound trophy deer in Vermont in 1949. Beekeeping and gardening were his passions. His family has very fond memories of snowmobiling and playing horseshoes and croquet with him. His greatest pleasure was his family, which always came first in his life. He found a great source of pride in his children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments. He took great satisfaction in providing for his large family with huge gardens and a lot of wild game. or as he called it, "living off the fat of the land." He was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters. He is survived by one sister, Nellie Staves, of Tupper Lake, New York; by his bride of 66 years, Marie Dunbar; by his eight children and their spouses: Gene and Maryse, David and Marty, Nancy and Bill, Jerry and Yvette, Diane and Allan, Daniel and Maria, Suze and Vince, and Joanne and Doug; by 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Over their many decades in the Greensboro community, he and his wife formed many close friendships, and he will be missed greatly by all. Funeral services will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 12, at 11 a.m. Spring interment will be in the family lot at St. Michael's Cemetery in Greensboro Bend.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cooking. She loved music and children. She is survived by siblings: Paul "Joseph" Sylvester and his wife, Shirley, of Berlin, Connecticut, Ora Sylvester of Houlton, Maine, Cecile Vinci and her husband, Joseph, of Portland, Maine, Pauline Sylvester of Arizona, and Marie "Lucy" Spencer and her husband, Kirk, of Coventry; by several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews. A graveside service will be held in the spring in St. Ignatius Cemetery in Lowell.

, 67, of Newport died March 11, 2008, in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Mrs. Stevens was born May 7, 1940, in Newport, a daughter of Ralph and Bessie (Kendall) Sessions. On January 16, 1962, she married Edward Stevens, who survives her. Mrs. Stevens graduated from Yale New Haven X-Ray School in New Haven, Connecticut. She was a medical x-ray technician for 25 years at North Country Hospital in Newport. She was a medical secretary for 18 years with Dr. Sisson and Dr. Meredith at North Country Surgical Associates; they were her second family. She was an avid reader and a member of the American Legion Post 21 Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Edward Stevens, of Newport; by her children Rae-Kim Sheltra and her companion, Dennis, of East Burke and Scott Stevens and his wife, Denise, of St. Johnsbury; by daughter-in-law Marelena Stevens and her companion, Richard, of Eden; by grandchildren: Aaron Pierce, Brandon Sheltra, Edward and Jacob Stevens, and Zachary, Elizabeth, and Caleb Stevens; by her sister Kim Mince of Kentucky; and by several nieces and nephews.
