, 74, of Westmore died peacefully November 30, 2008, in Newport. Mr. Sicard was born in Barton on July 6, 1934, a son of Lawrence Sr. and Dorothy (Labor) Sicard. He graduated from Barton Academy and attended community college where he received an associate's degree in business. In 1956 he joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1960. He married Shirley Chaffee in 1957, and they had four children. After being discharged from the miliary, he worked for the state of Vermont in employment security and then as unemployment manager for a combined service of 20 years. From 1962 to 1980 he worked as a police officer part-time for the Newport City Police Department, the Barton Village Police Department, the Caledonia and Orleans counties sheriffs' departments, and the Vermont Fish and Game Department. From 1976 to 1984 the family owned the Franklyn Store in Barton. After selling the store, he returned to work for the state of Vermont as a fraud investigator from 1984 to 1986. The family then bought a convenience store in Hardwick, which they owned until 1988. At that point, he and his wife worked at the Willoughvale Inn until 1993. He was a security guard, and Mrs. Sicard was a baker. After leaving the inn, he returned to state work from 1993 to 1996 as an information specialist at the Lyndonville and Derby Line welcome centers. After retirement he worked as a part-timer as was needed at the Derby Line Welcome Center until his death. During all of his working years he found time to hunt and fish. He enjoyed spending hours with his family, especially the grandchildren. He was an associate member of the Orleans American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Barton; by his children: Gary Sicard and his wife, Wendy, of Barton, Vickie Simino and her companion, Jeff Willey, of Westmore, Pamela Prue and her husband, Reginald, of Westmore, and Steve Sicard and his companion, Tammy Goss, of Johnson; by eight grandchildren; and by four great-grandchildren; by his siblings: Michael Sicard and his wife, Carol, of Florida, Terry Sicard and his wife, Christine, of Westmore, David Sicard and his wife, Penny, of Bridport and Florida, Barbara Perkins and Carroll Larocque of Orleans and Florida, Elizabeth "Betsy" Diette and her husband, Armand, of Sutton and Florida, Susan Sicard of Lyndonville, Judith Fitzpatrick and her husband, Peter, of North Carolina, and Patrice Royer and her husband, Gary, of Lyndonville; by sister-in-law Priscilla Sicard of Florida; by many nieces, nephews, and cousins; by his mother-in-law, Lillian Chaffee; and by his sisters-in-law and their spouses Holly and Terry Hill and Louise and Roderick Russell. He was predeceased by his father, Lawrence A.Sicard Sr.; by his mother, Dorothy E. (Labor) Sicard; by his grandson Roger Simino in 2000; by his sister Mary Elizabeth; and by his brother James. , 73, of Brownington died suddenly November 29, 2008, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, surrounded by his loving wife and children. Mr. Perry was born May 25, 1935, a son of Ezekiel and Cecile (Dumont) Perry. He and Shirley Ann (Young) were married December 28, 1960, at St. Theresa's Parish in Orleans. "If you want to know what true love is, just look at us," he commented. His passions in life were working, hunting, and spending time with and providing for his family. He was truly loved by everyone who knew him. He was a man of endless talents. He was a storyteller, a logger, a farmer, and a fine carpenter. He put his heart into everything he did. His greatest legacy was his family. He empowered family members with strong values, a hard work ethic, and the importance of celebrating with family, usually with a cold beer. His love and wisdom will always remain in their hearts. The greatest gift a father can give to his children is to truly love them. Some of his favorite sayings were: "Boy you should have been with me"; "I see deer! I see deer! I see deer!"; " I'll live till I die if it don't kill me"; "Who loves you?"; "Nail it before it rots"; and "Are you up for all day?" On March 16, 1991, she married Robert Page, who survives her. She enjoyed doing canvas work and was very family oriented. She is survived by her husband, Robert Page, of Troy; by four children: Nathan Page of Guildhall, Rebecca Page-Young of Troy, Lilly Page of Barton, and Bonnie Page of Troy; by several grandchildren; by several nieces and nephews; and by a brother, William Percy, of Waregan, Connecticut. , 85, of Newport died peacefully November 30, 2008, in Newport. Mrs. Farrow was born November 16, 1923, in Liverpool, England, a daughter of Douglas and Esther (Tudor) Sparkes. On August 7, 1944, she married Sidney Farrow, who predeceased her. She was a life skills trainer at Northeast Kingdom Mental Health. She served in the British Navy during World War II. She studied journalism and wrote poetry her whole life, and throughout her lifetime she sponsored Native American children. She held membership with the Ladies Aid Society in Holland and worked for the American Red Cross and supported Easter Seals. She is survived by her children: Linda Farrow Bullock of Waterloo, Ontario, Bonnie Farrow of Williston, Steve Farrow and his wife, Pam, of Newport, Thomas Farrow of Newport, and Christopher and Nickie Farrow of Mount Holly; by grandchildren: Leanne Ryan and her husband, Patrick, Ryan Bullock and his wife, Amy, Scott Bly and his wife, Dawn,Khristy Bly, Rae-Anne LaCroix and her husband, Keith, Tim Farrow, and Benjamin, Hannah, Jonah, Samuel, and Abigail Farrow; by great-grandchildren: Grace Ryan, Georgia and Sadie Bullock, Nathaniel Bly, and Luke LaCroix; by siblings: James Mawdsley of Liverpool, and Jim Bradbury,AmetteLey, and Marlene, all of East Bourne, England. , 87, died at the Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska, on October 29, 2008. Mrs. Collins had been living at the residence of her sister Elaine Daniels when she became ill. Before going to Alaska, she lived for two years with her youngest sister, Marion Lakin of Littleton, New Hampshire. She was born April 22, 1921, in Newport and lived there most of her life. She was the eldest daughter of Olive (Pelkey) Prue and Frederick A. Prue of Newport. She was thrilled to be going to Alaska as was her sibling Elaine. She enjoyed the vastness and beauty of Alaska that many do not get to see. She married Reginald Collins of Newport in 1940 and was married for 17 years before he predeceased her in July 1957. She was elected president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary for two years and the American Legion Auxiliary for one year. She was involved at the voting polls, volunteering her time to help. She always enjoyed being involved in the things that were important to her. In Newport, in her younger years, she was well-known for her figure-skating abilities. She even boxed in Canada. She played guitar, sang along with her mother's piano playing, interacting with other siblings, since she was from a musical family well-known to locals. In her later years she was an avid bingo player. She enjoyed traveling, watching television, doing puzzles, and playing cards with family and friends. She had a little dog named Trixie for years, who she loved and who filled her hours of loneliness at the time her husband died. She was predeceased by her husband; by an infant son; by her parents; by brothers: Vernon, Reginald, Kenneth, and Leonard; by sister Doris Karaberis; and by several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her oldest brother, Frederick Prue, of Irasburg; by her sisters Elaine Daniels of Anchorage and Marion Lakin of Littleton; and by many nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service and interment at the Newport Center Cemetery in the spring.

, 65, a resident of Scenic View Community Care in Westfield, died peacefully at her daughter's home in Winooski on Friday, November 28, 2008. Mrs. Bergeron was born May 3, 1943, in Rochester, New York. She spent her early years living in Rochester with her parents, Donald and Grace (Jackman) Ross. As a child she lived overseas with her family and had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe and the Middle East. On January 25, 1969, she married Robert Bergeron of Newport Center. The young couple moved to Newport to start their life together and later raise their daughters. She is survived by her lifelong friend and companion, Robert. Raising her family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her three daughters: Debra Melnick and her husband, Timothy, of Windemere, Florida, Jennifer Bergeron-Bowers and her husband, Steven, of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Caroline Bergeron and her fiancé, Caleb Marriott, of Winooski; and by her grandchildren: Justin, Ryan, and Carly of Florida and Emma and Noah of New Hampshire. She was very excited and looking forward to welcoming her newest granddaughter, Hope, in the spring. She is survived by numerous family members, and she will miss her friends at Scenic View. In addition to her love and devotion for her family, she enjoyed a great love of writing and drawing. She was an accomplished poet, and a collection of her work can be found in the Library of Congress. A number of her works were published in newspapers and poetry journals. She was a lifelong cat lover and enjoyed their companionship. , 84, of Newport died on December 4, 2008, in Newport. Mr. Rockwell was born August 26, 1924, in Concord, New Hampshire, a son of the Reverend Everett and Zillah (Newman) Rockwell. He graduated from Oakland High School in Oakland, Maine. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of World War II. On June 22, 1948, he married Lois Bowen, who survives him. He was a member of the Assembly of God Faith Lighthouse Church in Newport; he was a former board member and worship leader. He liked to walk, listen to the birds, and to visit with his neighbors. He was employed at Butterfields as a machinist; he retired after 36 years in 1987. He is survived by his wife, Lois Rockwell, of Newport Center; by five children: John Rockwell Jr. of Barrington, New Hampshire, Jeffrey Rockwell and his wife, Joyce, of Englewood, Florida, Sandra Kelley of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Susan Thayer and her husband, Charles, of Newport, and Shelley Sargent and her husband, Richard, of Newport Center; by two sisters, VangieKeniston and her husband, Floyd, of Byrant Pond, Maine, and Jiggs Petit and her husband, Robert, of Newport; by three brothers: Everett Rockwell of Zephyrhills, Florida, Paul Rockwell and his wife, Shirley, of Englewood, and Arthur Rockwell and his wife, Donna, of Apopka, Florida; by grandchildren: Nathan, Megan and her husband, James, and Sara; by great-granddaughter Grace; and by numerous nieces and nephews. , 90, of Newport and South Burlington died peacefully at Fletcher Allen Heath Care in Burlington December 2, 2008. Mr. Gosselin was born in Newport on January 29, 1918, one of 12 children of Stanislaus and Rose Gosselin. He grew up on a dairy farm in Irasburg. He joined the U.S. Army on November 12, 1940, and served in the South Pacific Theater during World War II. He was on the U.S.S. Coolidge when it hit a mine and sank off the coast of Espirito Santo. He described the ship's sinking as one of the most gut-wrenching experiences of his life. His military decorations include the Good Conduct Medal, the American Decants Service Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon with three service stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged on October 25, 1945. He spoke positively of his days in the military. For many years, he was an active member of the American Legion. After he was discharged, he worked for several years at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lowell, Massachusetts. He purchased a dairy farm in Barton in 1950 and married BlandineChaput on October 27, 1951. He worked the farm until 1988 and retired in Newport. He moved to The Pines Senior Community Center in South Burlington in December 2003 to be closer to his children for his remaining years. He is survived by his six children: Jacques of Colchester, Joanne Winter and her husband, Richard Codling, of South Burlington, Luc and his wife, Theresa, of East Amherst, New York, Pierre and his wife, Doris, of Quakenbruch, Germany, Marc of Burlington, and Christine Lazicki and her husband, David, of Underhill; by his six grandchildren: Megan and Erin, Max and Anna, and Celine and Solange; by one sister, Florida Brodeur, of Daytona Beach, Florida; by one sister-in-law, MarcelleGosselin, of Newport; and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; by his wife, Blandine, on December 26, 1989; by seven brothers; and by three sisters. Funeral services were held December 6 at St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church in Newport with the Reverend Dallas St. Peter celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will be held in the spring at St. Theresa's Cemetery in Orleans. , 87, of Westfield died November 30, 2008, in Newport. Mrs. Galipeau was born March 6, 1921, a daughter of Elphege and Rose Laporte. She graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital in Lowell, Massachusetts, and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Navy Nurse Corps. In 1946 she married Robert Galipeau. Several years later they purchased the formerWursthorn Store and operated the Troy General Store for 22 years. She is survived by her sister Claire Comeau of Newport and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert.
