Mrs. Gibson was born in Flushing, NY, on January 10, 1923, the daughter of Ferdinand and Mable (Holtgrewe) Wagner. Edith was and avid gardener and an animal lover. She was particularly fond of dogs and used to raise them for show and competition. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church, Jefferson. Memberships include the White Mountain Kennel Club, the North Country Garden Club, and the Rebecca Lodge. Family members include her husband of 62 years, Harry Gibson of Jefferson; two sons, Peter Gibson of Babylon, NY, Daniel Gibson of National Park, NJ; a daughter Christine Smith of Jefferson; a sister Dorothy Svoboda of Parkville, MD; three grandchildren, Nathan Smith, Jennifer Smith, Matthew Smith; and three nieces and nephews. , 88 of Lancaster, passed on at Country Village Nursing Home on August 27, 2005. He was born on August 15, 1917, in Lancaster, the son of Frederic R. Langworthy and Grace (Bullard) Langworthy. He was raised in Lancaster where he graduated from Lancaster Academy in 1935. Burns graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston in 1941, and was employed by the Christian Science Publishing Society in Boston for 41 years. Upon his retirement in 1982, he moved back to Lancaster, sharing a home with his sister Barbara L. Day until her passing in December, 2002, two weeks shy of her 96th birthday. Burns, 10 years her junior, lovingly devoted his life to her care in her later years. Burns is best remembered for his extensive knowledge and appreciation of classical music and opera. He had a lovely singing voice, and enjoyed entertaining singing music from his repertoire of pop music and show tunes of the 1930's and `40's, accompanying himself with a ukulele of mandolin. He is survived by his two nieces, Deborah Day Arsenault of Lancaster, and Barbara Jean Baker of Marshfield, Mass. A private internment service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family

, 68, of Dance Hall Road, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster. Mrs. Pritchard was born in Richmond Hill, NY, on May 20, 1937, the daughter of John and Catherine (Helbock) Smith. She was raised in East Hartford, CT, and was a 1955 graduate of East Hartford High School. For 20 years she was employed as an accountant for the State of Connecticut Department of Education. She was forced to retire in 1991 due to health and has been a resident of Lunenburg since 1992. She was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose. Family members include a step-daughter Gail MacDonald of S. Windsor, CT; a brother John smith of East Hartford, CT; three sisters, Catherine McFadden of New London, CT, Estelle Watson of Moreno Valley, CA, Margaret Pellhemus of North Highlands, CA; and two grandchildren, Christa & Kyle. , 94, of West Lunenburg Road, Lunenburg, Vt., died at her home Monday morning, Aug. 15, 2005. Jessie was born in Pawlet, Vt., on Jan. 8, 1911, the daughter of Albert and Alta (Jennings) Blowers. She was raised in East Poultney and Shaftsbury, Vt., until moving to Connecticut in 1941. There she resided in Hartford for many years and worked as a bookkeeper for Underwood of Hartford, Kelly Foods of Glastonbury, and First Nation Stores. She also operated her own dressmaking shop on Farmington Avenue, Hartford, and was well-known for making many dance recital costumes. She was also employed with Ensign & Bickford of Simsbury, Conn., and the Area Agency on Aging of St. Johnsbury. For the past 38 years she had resided in Lunenburg. She was a member of the Gilman Senior Citizens and loved knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed making hats and mittens. Family members include three sons, Barry Pritchard of St. Louis, Mo., Leonard Pritchard of Manchester, Conn., and Malcomb Pritchard of Central Village, Conn.; three daughters, Fannie Hall of Lunenburg, Virginia Linsley of North Branford, Conn., and Brenda Scata of Lunenburg; two sisters, Myrtie Bouplon of Shaftsbury, Vt., and Margaret Perkins of Florida; and 40 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren. , 81, of McGary Hill Road, died Wednesday evening, September 7, 2005, at her daughter's home after a long illness. Mrs. Gorton was born in Derry, NH, on August 11, 1924, the daughter of Lester and Bertha (Teague) Lewis. "Dot" was raised in the Derry and Chester area where she resided for many years. For 33 years she was employed with AT&T in North Andover, MA. For the past eight years she has resided in Lancaster. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, and was an avid Red Sox's Fan. Surviving family members include two daughters, Dianna Guthridge of Lancaster, Elizabeth Gorton Chase of Cape Naddick, Maine; two sons, Alfred Gorton of Manchester, William Gorton of Raymond; a brother Ralph Lewis of Candia; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. , 83, of Portland Street, died Sunday morning September 4, 2005, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster. Mr. Nadeau was born in Lancaster on September 1, 1922, the son of Francis "Frank" X. Nadeau Sr. and Olivine Bilodeau. Hob was a 1941 graduate of Lancaster Academy. For two years he was employed as a machinist for the Lovejoy Company in Springfield, VT, and also worked as a lineman. He went on to serve in the US Navy in WWII in several theaters as a construction electrician with the 70th Construction Battalion (Seabees). Returning home he and his brother Francis Nadeau owned and operated Nadeau Brothers Garage along with an Oldsmobile dealership until 1972. He also assisted his wife Priscilla with her convenience store for several years. During his final years of work he was a self -employed electrician and worked for Yutana Barge Lines in Nenana, Alaska until he was forced to retire from a disabling accident in 1983. He was always known and highly regarded for his mechanical abilities. He was a member of the John W. Weeks VFW Post # 3041, and the Military Order of Cooties. He was an active outdoorsman until his accident in 1983. Family members include three sons, Thomas R. Nadeau of Brunswick, ME, Douglas J. Nadeau of Colorado Springs, CO, Michael W. Nadeau of Lancaster; a daughter, Suzanne LaValley of Ko Olina, Hawaii; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Priscilla A. (Jewell) Nadeau in 1976. From 1945 to 1953 she was employed at the Weeks estate as a cook and housekeeper. She later worked at the Whitefield Laundry from 1953 to 1959. She then went to work at Manchester Knitting, Whitefield, until 1973. Mary loved to knit and bake and was a talented seamstress who enjoyed sewing and crocheting. When in Lancaster she attended local schools including White Mountain Regional High School during her freshman and sophmore years. Her time with friends was most valuable to her. , 71, of Bailey Road, died Tuesday afternoon, October 4, 2005, at his step-son's residence on Hyfield Road, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Moore was born in Littleton, NH, on January 13, 1934, the son of Alfred and Jeanette (Counter) Moore. He was raised in Littleton and Dalton during his youth but was a longtime Littleton resident. For many years he worked at Connors and Hoffman, Littleton. He also resided in Rockville, CT, for 15 years where he worked making boxes at Merrill Industries in Ellington, CT. Roger has resided in Jefferson for the past 10 years. He was a lifetime member of the Eagles Club of Littleton, NH. She was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren. , 52, of Salisbury, died November 22, 2005 at Fletcher Allen Hospital, Burlington. Mr. Lyon was born September 30, 1953 in Lancaster, the son of Melvin Lyon and Janet (Bailey) Willey. John was raised in Lancaster and resided there until moving to Salisbury 20 years ago. In Salisbury he worked as a mason tender in a limestone quarry. Family members include his mother Janet Willey and step- father Ray Willey of Whitefield, three daughters Natalie, Angela, and Crystal; three brothers Doug Lyon of Dalton, Ray Willey of Whitefield; Joe Willey of Dalton, three sisters, Jane Schmucker of Whitefield; Melanie Whitney of Lancaster, and Lisa Wheeler of Jefferson. A visiting hour will be held Saturday morning November 26, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will follow immediately after at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Reverend James Michael, pastor of the Lancaster Assembly of God, will officiate. Burial will be held in the spring in the Taylor Cemetery, Maidstone.

, 56, passed away Friday morning November 18, 2005, while at home in the arms of her husband, Frank. She was born in North Conway, on August 16, 1949, the daughter of Rodney and Evelyn (Burke) Marshall. She attended schools in the Lancaster area and went on to attend two years at UNH, before transferring to Plymouth State College where she graduated cum llaude with a teaching degree in English. Ellen loved spending time with her family and having daily coffee outings with friends. She had a passion for music, was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed spending time with her beloved miniature horses and of course her devoted dog, Cocoa. Ellen was a member of the United Methodist Church, National Honor Society and a life long member of the American Miniature Horse Association. Her family members include her husband of 36 years Francis Sirois of Lancaster, a son, Todd Sirois and his wife Audrey of Whitefield, her mother, Evelyn Marshall of Lancaster, a sister Brenda Bray and her husband Edwin also of Lancaster. Her mother in-law, Lucia Sirois of Dublin, a sister in-law Shirley and her husband Donald Mahoney of Keene, and four brother in-laws Robert Sirois and his wife Patsy of Springfield, NH, Otto Sirois and wife Kathy of Hartland, VT, Timothy Sirois of Dublin and Sean Sirois and wife Jennifer of Jaffrey, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father in 1992 and her father in-law John in 2005. At Ellen's request there will be no calling hours, a Memorial service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Lancaster on Monday, November 21, at 11:00 AM. Rev. David Rose, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster. , 83, died Thursday morning November 10, 2005, at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. Mrs. Grant was born in East Hardwick, Vermont, on February 5, 1922, the daughter of Wilbur and Emma (Vancour) Morse. Mary attended schools in St. Johnsbury and East Concord. She worked at the former Gilman Paper Company and at the Mountain View, Whitefield. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, cooking, baking, but most of all spending time with her family. She was a member of the Adah Chapter #39 OES and the Gilman Senior Center. Family members include two daughters, Betty Thrumston of Pinellas Park, FL, Georganna Dow and her husband Michael of Lunenburg; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; sisters; brothers; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; two husbands, Francis Morgan and James Grant; a son David; a son-in-law David Thrumston; and three brothers. Visiting hours will be held Saturday afternoon and evening, November 12, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. The Eastern Star will hold a service at 2:30 at the funeral home. , 89, died Sunday morning November 6, 2005, at Morrison Nursing Home, Whitefield. Mr. Alexander was born in North Belgrade, Maine on February 15, 1916, the son of Arthur and Amie (Thinge) Alexander. Jim was raised in Belgrade and was a graduate of Belgrade High School. In 1941 he moved to Lancaster where he managed the Connecticut River Dairy for many years. In the 50's he purchased the local Ford dealership, which he operated for several years. He continued a career in the automobile business and was a sales representative for dealerships in Lancaster, Lewiston, ME, and Colebrook. He was a 50+ year member of the Free and Accepted Masons. Family members include two daughters; Mary McLaren and her husband Hazen of Barnet, VT and Marjorie Conway of Somersworth; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Alice Mary (Hardy) Alexander and a son-in-law Tom Conway. There are no visiting hours. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday November 12, at 1:00 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Lancaster. Reverend David Rose, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.

, 87, died Wednesday morning, December 28, 2005, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, after a long illness. Mrs. Travers was born in Newry, Maine, on October 9, 1918, the daughter of Darwin and Agnes (Frost) Sweatt. Rose resided most of her lifetime in Errol. She worked there as a local telephone operator and was a clerk for many years at the Barnett General Store. She was also employed for a time at the Balsams Resort, Dixville. She has resided at the McKee Inn, Lancaster since April 2005. Family members include a daughter Beverly Morel and her husband Maurice of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Susan Brown of Michigan, Laurie Parsons of Bedford, Carl Morel of Lancaster; a brother Ralph Sweatt of Errol; a sister, Ruth Bean of Bethel, Maine; a son-in-law Wayne Haynes of Lakeland Harbor, Florida; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years John Travers in 2001; a daughter Donna Haynes; two brothers, Erwin Sweatt, Harold Sweatt; and a sister Emily Cross. There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday morning December 31, at 11:00AM, at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Rev. Lawrence Clough, pastor of the Errol Congregational Church, will officiate. , 57, of West Thomas Road, died Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster. Mrs. McFarland was born in Lancaster on October 27, 1948, the daughter of Arthur R. and Mildred (Fuller) Beaton. Sheila was a long time resident of Lancaster and formerly lived on S. Lancaster Road. For many years she was employed at Rite Aid and the former Laverdiers in Lancaster. For a time she worked at Ames department store in Groveton. In 2000 she moved with her husband to Lunenburg. She was devoted to her family enjoyed activities such as watching her grandsons race in Woodstock. She was well known for helping others in many capacities and was Vermont foster care mother. Many of her interests included camping, deep-sea fishing, animals, crocheting, knitting, crafts, and for many years she enjoyed bowling at Babe Smith's Lancaster Bowling Lanes. She was a former member of the Lancaster VFW Auxiliary. Family members include her husband Edward S. McFarland Sr. of Lunenburg; two sons, Edward S. McFarland Jr. of Lancaster, Jeremy McFarland of Lancaster; a daughter Tammy Burt of Lunenburg; a brother Arthur Beaton Jr. of Groveton; two sisters, Judi Donnelly of Lancaster, Tanya Batchelder of Lancaster; two grandsons; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held Friday December 30, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will follow immediately after at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. , 83, of John Walker Road, died at his home, Wednesday evening December 21, 2005, after a long illness. Mr. Walker was born in Jefferson on June 20, 1922 the son of John and Lora (Ramsdell) Walker. Richard was a lifetime resident of Jefferson. He worked all his life on his family's farm with the exception of working for a few years for the State of New Hampshire Highway Department as a truck driver and at the White Mountain Regional High School as a custodian. In February 1945 he married his wife of 60 years Ruth Enman. He enjoyed working in his garden and cutting wood. Family members include his wife Ruth Walker of Jefferson, one son, Thomas Walker and his wife Alberta of Jefferson, two daughters, Lora Ashton and her husband Gary of Barton, VT and Dorothy Wright and her husband Gary of Fresno, CA; 9 grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren; he was predeceased by a son Richard H. Walker Jr. and his brothers and sisters. Visiting hours will be held Monday December 26, from 3-7 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM at the Odd Fellows Hall, Jefferson. Rev. Jon Howry, pastor of the Community Baptist Church, Berlin, will officiate.
