Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 4 p.m. in the Sugar Hill Community Church. Burial will immediately follow the service. 99, of Littleton, N.H., died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, in Franconia, N.H., after a long illness. She was born in Littleton, Sept. 29, 1902, the daughter of Fred W. and Sadie (Duff) Millen. She had been a lifelong resident of the Littleton area. Previous to her retirement, Kay helped operate Winslow's Pharmacy along with her husband Walter from 1947 to 1972, at which time the business was transferred to her son Robert. Kay enjoyed the family cottage at Forest Lake, skiing, skating, golf, bowling and card playing. She was a life member of the Howard-Shawney VFW Post 816 Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving family members include two sons, Everett and Robert Winslow, both of Littleton; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two nephews, Richard Millen of Littleton, and Stanley Millen of Conway, N.H. Her husband Walter predeceased her in 1967. Interment and committal will be in the Glenwood Cemetery at a future date.

, 80, of Burke Hollow, died early Monday morning, Oct. 22, 2001, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury. She was born in New York City, N.Y., Sept. 25, 1921, the only child of Pietro and Pressede (Buonamici) Malerbi. On June 22, 1946, she married Arthur C. Benes. They have resided with their son and his family in Burke Hollow since February of this year, coming from Cleveland, Ohio. A woman who loved life, Mrs. Benes was very family-oriented; spending time with family was most important to her. She also enjoyed Vermont's wildlife, including feeding and watching wild birds at her home. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Arthur Benes of Burke Hollow; two sons, Lawrence Benes of Irvine, Calif., and Robert Benes and his wife Trish of Burke Hollow; six grandchildren, Courtney Grimm, Aaron S. Benes, Aaron C. Benes, Sabra Benes, Chaia Benes and Sidra Benes; a great-granddaughter, Amanda Grimm; a sister-in-law, Muriel Gannon; a brother-in-law, Joseph Benes and his wife Esther; a niece, Monique Benes; and a nephew, Charles Benes. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church in Yonkers, N.Y., at a later date. There will be no visiting hours. of St. Johnsbury, passed away at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001. He was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Cumberland, Md., to Dr. Howard and Ann (Gallagher) Robinson. His wife Alice (Herrick) Robinson, whom he married Dec. 28, 1943, died unexpectedly just this past Oct. 5. Dr. Robinson was a longtime associate and radiologist with the Fitch Clinic, Brightlook and St. Johnsbury hospitals. He received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University and his M.D. from the University of Maryland. Doc did his internship at Walter Reed General Hospital in Washington, D.C., and his residency at the Cleveland Clinic. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps Medical Corps from 1947-48. He was a member of the American College of Radiology, the New England Cancer Society, and the American Medical Association. Doc devoted his time and talents unselfishly to the youth of St. Johnsbury. He organized the first St. Johnsbury Little League and was its president for 10 years. He also founded the Pony League, and was active in Babe Ruth and legion baseball. He was one of the founders of the St. Johnsbury Rotary basketball program and served as manager of the St. Johnsbury town team. Doc was also active in civic affairs; he was a permanent honorary member of the St. Johnsbury Rotary Club, past president of the Fairbanks Museum Board of Trustees, and past president of the Brightlook Hospital Medical Staff. He also served as chairman of the St. Johnsbury School Board for 12 years and was an ex-officio trustee of St. Johnsbury Academy at the same time. He is survived by five children and their spouses, William H. Robinson Jr. and wife Elaine (Little) of East Stroudsburg, Pa., Martha "Marte" Robinson Rhodes and husband Reg of Newport, Stanley H. Robinson and wife Beth (Jordan) of Franklin, N.H., Howard C. Robinson and wife Lauren of Bourne, Mass., and Thomas E. Robinson and wife Elaine (Lanctot) of Waterford; one brother, Dr. Thomas Robinson and wife June of North Haven, Conn.; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held during the holiday season for both Doc and Alice; details will be announced at a later date. There will be no calling hours. , 84, passed away July 24, 2001, at the Carson-Tahoe Hospital in Carson City, Nevada. She was born in Lyndonville, June 19, 1917, the daughter of the late Sumner C. and Alice Stuart. She attended Lyndon Institute and LaSalle College in Massachusetts. She met her husband, William Drange, while working at the Staten Island Hospital in New York. She was a registered dietitian at Franklin Hospital in San Francisco, San Rafael General and Ross General hospitals in Marin County, Calif. In 1980, she and her husband moved to Northern Nevada, living in Reno and Gardnerville and settling in Carson City. They were active members of the Hi-Sea-Era Merchant Marines Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Her favorite hobbies were sewing and gardening. She was predeceased by her parents, and by her husband of 56 years, Bill, in October 2000. She is survived by her children, Sandra Cooke of Minden, Nev., Stuart Drange of Gardnerville, Nev., and Eric Drange of Cape Cod, Mass.; and her grandchildren, Eric and Tyler Ramsey, Alexis and Elliot Drange, Chad Cooke, and Heather Somers. Committal services will be held at the Lyndon Center Cemetery Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Vincent officiating.

, 72, of Water Street, Orleans, passed away in Barton, Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001. She was born in Enosburg, Dec. 19, 1928, the daughter of Albert and Ruth (Hoadley) Frazier. With her family, Joyce owned and operated the Independent Buyers Association, a dairy farm supply company, for over 30 years. She provided a great service to the dairy farmers of Orleans County. She was a member of the Orleans Federated Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Orleans Post 23. Joyce was a very caring and giving person. She devoted her time to her family and people in need. On March 14, 1950, Joyce married Alan Farrar, who predeceased her Feb. 5, 1998. She is survived by her children, James Farrar and his wife Debra of Barton, Mary Smith and her husband Lewis of Lyndonville, Robert Farrar and his wife Irene of Orleans, and Richard Farrar and his wife Dianne of Orleans; her grandchildren, Wendy, Timothy, Craig, Jason, Amy, Charles and Adam; her great-grandson, Caleb Lanoue; her sister, Alberta Longe of George, Vt., her brother-in-law, Norman Jenne of Orleans; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Elsie and Helen. , 67, of Mechanic Falls, Maine, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine. He was born in Burlington, Vt., Jan. 18, 1934, the son of Bernard Ira and Rachel Hancock Coburn. He graduated from Danville High School. He had been a self-employed welder, carpenter, lobsterman and fisherman. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in the Panama Canal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 150 in Mechanic Falls and the VFW in Lynn, Mass., and St. Johnsbury, Vt. He married Carolyn Banko. He is survived by his mother, Rachel Verrill of Mechanic Falls; two daughters, Paula Walker of Granby, Vt., and Kathi Lemay and her husband Paul Jr. of Hooksett, N.H.; two sons, Michael Coburn of St. Johnsbury, and Bernard Wayne Coburn Jr. of Denton, N.C.; six grandchildren, Jerika Barnes, Brannon Walker, Amber, Ashley and Tamika Coburn, and Nicholas; nieces and nephews Sandra Coburn, Laurie Murdoc, Dexter Coburn Jr., Debbie Martin and Christopher Coburn; and a special friend, Bob Boisvert of Mechanic Falls. , 22, of Main Street, Berlin, N.H., died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, in Errol. Timothy was born in Lancaster, April 17, 1979, the son of Timothy A. Reynolds Sr. and Susan M. (Gauvin) Reynolds. Raised in Lancaster and Milan, he attended Berlin High School. For several years he had been employed with White Mountain Lumber Company of Berlin. Snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and big 4WD trucks brought much enjoyment to his life. Family members include his parents of Milan; a brother, Nicholas A. Reynolds of Milan; paternal grandfather Philip C. Reynolds Sr. of Lancaster; paternal grandmother Beulah A. Reynolds of Whitefield; maternal grandfather Norman J. Gauvin and his wife June of Lancaster; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Diane D. Gauvin, in 1983. , 75, of 144 South Main St., Barnet, died suddenly, Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. He was born in Barnet, Sept. 12, 1926, the son of Edward A.H. and Alice (Morton) Johnson. A lifelong resident, he had worked for Audley Construction Company, Caledonia Sand & Gravel, the town of Barnet Highway Department, and Hayward Trucking of Fairlee. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the Barnet Congregational Church, and was active with the Area Agency on Aging. He also delivered Meals on Wheels. He was predeceased by his wife of 20 years, Louise (Kendall) Johnson, July 24, 1992. Survivors include a sister, Dot Frandsen and husband Edward of Yuma, Ariz.; two daughters, Virginia L. McKay of Cape Canaveral, Fla., and Jeanette E. Van Ostrand of Clinton, Conn.; two sons, Samuel G. Roberts of St. Johnsbury, and Douglas E. , 89, of Wheelock, died peacefully at her daughter's home in Hopewell, N.J., Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, Dec. 8, 1911, the third daughter of George Henry and Cora Merriam Beaumont. She attended the Hathaway Brown School in Cleveland, Ohio; the Bishop's School in La Jolla, Calif.; Miss Ransom and Miss Bridge's School in Piedmont, Calif., and Francis Parker School in San Diego, Calif. Allis lived in Europe from 1927 to 1940, studying languages, music, and singing. Around 1930, she married her singing teacher, Riccardo Martin, a well-known American tenor from Kentucky who was a member of The New York Metropolitan Opera Company. Their son Dickie died in a fall at age 6 in Italy. From September 1939 to May 1940, Allis and her husband were in Dieppe, France, and they returned to the United States in June of 1940. She entered Barnard College in the fall of 1940, and in the first months after the U.S. entered World War II, she worked with Professor Elizabeth Reynard, who was instrumental in the creation of the WAVES, the Woman's arm of the navy. She left college in early 1942 to work for Pan American Airways at La Guardia Airport, where she was a code clerk and cryptographer. During this time she and her first husband were divorced. Near the end of the war she met and eventually married Charley Reid of Philadelphia. Following her marriage, she volunteered with the Red Cross, until the birth of her daughter in 1946. They settled in Silver Spring, Md., and her husband worked in the life insurance business in Washington, D.C. In 1953, Charley took a job in Hartford, Conn., and the family moved to suburban West Hartford. Throughout her second marriage, while raising four children, she was active in volunteer activities through her church and with Boy and Girl Scouting, including being a Girl Scout leader for six years. She also sang in the church choir. In 1970, shortly after her husband died, and two years after losing her oldest son, Chuck, to a car accident, she moved with her two sons to upstate Vermont, where she lived for the rest of her life. She became an integral part of her local, regional, and state communities, through her many volunteer activities. She worked as a buyer for the hospital gift shop, and served on such boards as the Home Health Care Association, Area Agency on Aging, and Vermont Extension Homemakers Council. She also worked with inmates at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility in St. Johnsbury. She especially devoted her energies to the town of Wheelock where she lived. She converted to the Roman Catholic Church in 1975 and was an Associate of the Sisters of Mercy of Vermont, and a member of the Immaculate Conception Fraternity of the Secular Franciscans. Though she lived the last third of her life in a remote rural area, visitors from many far off places found their way to her door. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Maggie Beaumont of Hopewell, N.J.; her sons, Bruce Reid of Seattle, Wash. and Douglas Reid of Wheelock; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces, a nephew, and cousins; and by loved and deeply appreciated friends, Patricia Baker and Gregory McNally, both of Wheelock. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Ker Reid II; two sons, Richard Beaumont Martin and Charles Ker Reid III; and her sisters, Cornelia Beaumonnt and Sabra Beaumont Packard. Maurice served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He worked as a meat merchandiser for French & Bean and also for A & P. Maurice was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved to be with his family, especially his grandchildren. On Oct. 5, 1946, Maurice married the former Bella Choiniere, who survives him. , 91, formerly of Groveton, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001 at Coos County Nursing Hospital, West Stewartstown, N.H., where she had been a resident for the past six years, after a lengthy illness. Born Oct. 2, 1910, in Columbia, N.H., the daughter of Ernest E. and Maude (Salvas) Cass, she was a resident of Groveton for 46 years, coming from Lancaster. She was of the Methodist Faith. She enjoyed gardening when she was able to. Mrs. White is survived by her daughter Alice Scott of Groveton, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one sister Ernestine Reed of Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph E. White, in 1943; and one son Donald White. At Pearl's request, there will be no calling hours. A private family service will be at the convenience of the family. Burial of cremains will be in the spring in Colebrook. of Brattleboro, and former St. Johnsbury resident, died peacefully at Stratton House Nursing Home in Townshend, Vt., Thursday evening, Oct. 25, 2001. Edith passed away within a day of the anniversary of her husband Bruce's death, Oct. 26 of last year. Her first husband, Richard "Dick" Granger, passed away in 1963. She was born in Eustis, Quebec, June 12, 1916, and was the daughter of Roy and Emma Caroline (Beattie) Johnston. While residents of St. Johnsbury, the Grangers resided on the corner of Jones Street and Concord Avenue and operated Lowery's Supermarket located on the corner of Pleasant Street and Concord Avenue (where Trombly Plumbing and Heating is now located.) She had previously worked at Woolworths and Hovey's Shops. She married long-time friend Bruce Clifford. They moved to Brattleboro, where they lived at 225 Wantastiquet Drive. The Cliffords worked at The Holiday Motel, owned by her sister Dorothy Edmunds, and in 1968, they bought the Holly Motel, retiring in 1978. She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Edmunds of Brattleboro, and Mildred Schultz of Farmingdale, N.Y.; one brother: Douglas Murphy of St. Johnsbury; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Rupert Johnston. A memorial service will be held in St. Johnsbury, Sunday, at 1 p.m., at the Sayles Funeral Home. The Rev. Jay Sprout will officiate, as he did for her husband's service. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. , passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton, Vt. She was born Feb. 22, 1909, in Barton, the daughter of the late P. Willie and Parmelie (Perron) Desmarais. On June 27, 1934, she married J. Arthur Prevost, who predeceased her. She lived most of her married life in Peabody, Mass. In 1982, they moved to Lyndonville. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Roland and Onile; and a sister, Corinne Bessette. She is survived by a sister, Juliette Leduc of Lyndonville; a brother, Rio Desmarais of Orleans; and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. , 84, died Friday, Oct. 26, in Cape Coral, Fla. The son of James C. and Ruth (Pooley) Gibson, George was born Feb. 10, 1917, in Chelsea, Mass. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Margaret E. Ireland, March 10, 1941. For the last 24 years George and Margaret were residents of Florida, and since 1983 were summer residents of Harvey's Lake, West Barnet. George is survived by his wife, Margaret of Cape Coral, Fla.; two daughters, Laurie Bedard and husband Peter of St. Johnsbury, and Caroline Keyser and husband Budd of Cape Coral, Fla.; four granddaughters, two grandsons and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Perkins. A private family graveside service will be held Friday, Nov. 2, at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, with the Rev. John Marshall officiating. He was 84. He was born in Boston, Mass., Oct. 10, 1917, the son of Herbert Atwood and Gertrude (Shumway) Smith of Squantum, Mass. The family moved to St. Johnsbury in 1919. His father purchased The Caledonian-Record in that same year. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara McKay Smith; two sons, Michael Gordon Smith and wife Patricia McPeak, of Albany, Calif., and Mark McKay Smith of Burke; a daughter-in-law, Karen Smith of St. Johnsbury; five grandchildren, Carolyn R. McKay of Melville, N.Y., Aaron Michael Smith of Oakland, Calif., Victoria Ross Smith of Washington, D.C., Todd McKay Smith of St. Johnsbury, and Devon Alexandra Smith of Somerville, Mass.; and one great-grandson, Zachary Taylor Favreau Smith of St. Johnsbury. , 29, of Milton, Vt., formerly of Calais, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in Colchester. He was born in Berlin, Vt., Feb. 18, 1972, the son of Donald and Carlene (Fair) Moulton. He attended elementary school in Calais and graduated from U-32 High School in Montpelier, and Vermont Technical College in Randolph in 1993 with a degree in engineering. He was employed by Peckham Industries of New York, in their Colchester plant as the asphalt plant manager. He was an avid hunter, and enjoyed his family and returning to his parents & #039; home in Calais on weekends, camping and four-wheeling. He loved the outdoors and the woods. , 80, well-known Lancaster proprietor, died suddenly at his home at 209 Main Street, Lancaster, Tuesday evening, Nov. 6, 2001. Mr. Choquette was born in Roxton Pond, Quebec, April 9, 1921, the son of Ernest and Delphine (Desrosier) Choquette. In 1929 his family moved to Hardwick, Vt., where he was raised on the family farm. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Returning home after the war he moved to St. Johnsbury and was employed for a time at Fairbanks Scales. There he met and married his wife, Berthe M. Oullette, in 1947. They then moved to Lancaster and purchased the family farm on North Road which they operated for 20 years. In 1961 he opened Roger's Campground on Route 2 in Lancaster. The campground expanded over the years, including the addition of motel units. It became one of the largest and highest-rated campgrounds in New England for many years. He sold the campground in 1997. In 1967 he started the Page Hill Mobile Home Park, which he owned until 1975. In 1996 he opened the Cabot Motor Inn, also on Route 2 in Lancaster, and in 1998 the Coos Motor Inn on Main Street. During the 1960s he was director of the Production Credit Land Bank. Family members include his wife Berthe of Lancaster; two sons, Bernard J. Choquette of Lancaster, and Ernest J. Choquette of Wyomissing, Pa.; three daughters, Lillian Leavitt of Gonic, N.H., Rachel Pavletich of Sebring, Fla., and Anne Choquette of Lancaster; four brothers, Rolland Choquette of Lakeland, Fla., Gerard Choquette of Spencer, Mass., Maurice Choquette of Morrisville, N.Y., and John Choquette of Hollywood, Fla.; five sisters, Clairette LeFort of St. Jean D & #039;iberville, Quebec, Irene Pelletier of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Lancaster, Lucille Guillette of Newport, Vt., Gertrude Beedie of St. Johnsbury, Therese Paquette of Lakeland, Fla.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. , 73, of Richmond Street, Littleton, died at Littleton Regional Hospital after the onset of a sudden illness, Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001. He was born in Piermont, N.H., Nov. 17, 1927, a son of Rufus B. and Electa M. (Bailey) Young. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a lumberman and wood dealer for the majority of his working life. He was self-employed, and worked with his father for a number of years in the business. He especially enjoyed hunting. Surviving family members include his wife of 54 years, Lillian (Lucas) Young of Littleton; a son, David L. Young of Whitefield; a daughter, Norma J. King of Littleton; three grandchildren, Darren and Brian King and Lorrie Blodgett; five great-grandchildren, Patric, Jessica, Darren Jr., Joshua and Zachary; three sisters, Muriel Sanborn of Dover, Del., Marilyn Lehan of Arcadia, Fla., and Glenna Toney of Littleton. , 88, of Montville, Conn., and formerly of Lunenburg, Vt., passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at the Buckus Hospital in Norwich, Conn. She was born April 13, 1913, in Sutton, Vt., the daughter of the late Warner and Beatrice (Allen) Jessemen. She served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Before retiring, she worked as a telephone operator. Her husband, Joseph Demers, predeceased her in 1978. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Lambertson of Columbia, Conn., Richard Demers of Danbury, Conn., and Ronald Demers of Colchester, Conn.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. , 77, of Manchester, N.H., died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, in a Manchester nursing home after a period of failing health. She was born in Manchester June 30, 1924, the daughter of Robert and Delia (Collins) Bonner, and was a lifelong resident of the community. She was a graduate of Manchester West High School and a graduate of Mount St. Mary's College. She also attended Boston University where she took courses in advanced education. She was a teacher at Manchester Memorial High School for 22 years, retiring in 1989. Prior to that she taught at Bishop Bradley High school in Manchester, and also taught in the Charlestown school system. She was a longtime communicant of St. Pius X Church. She was a member of the New Hampshire Retired Teachers Association, and had served as president for two terms. She was also a member of the Toastmistress Club of Manchester and a member of the National Education Association. She had been very active in Republican political organizations and in Ronald Reagan's presidential campaign. She loved books and was an avid reader. Members of her family include her husband, Richard L. Evans of Manchester; one son, Thomas M. Evans of Indian Trails, N.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Brian M. (Pamela J.) Hanson of St. Johnsbury, Vt., and Patricia Ann Evans of Pendleton, S.C.; a grandson, Nathaniel B. Hanson of St. Johnsbury; and a brother, William Bonner of Bedford, N.H., and Florida. , 92, of Littleton, died peacefully, with her family by her side, Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at the Littleton Regional Hospital. Ella was the daughter of F. Bert and Rosa (Ellis) Stevens. She graduated from Colebrook Academy in 1928. She was a homemaker and a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. She belonged to many local clubs. Ella enjoyed making braided rugs, ABC quilts, knitting, and many other crafts, as well as looking up family history in vital records, keeping scrapbooks, and enjoying her children and grandchildren. Ella is survived by three sons, Stephen and Gladys Morrow of Dover, N.H., Donald and Ellen Morrow of Bethlehem, N.H., and Gary Morrow of Littleton; one daughter, Patricia and Robert Morneau of Manchester, N.H.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sons-in-law, Roland Derosier of West Burke, Vt., and Daniel Gregory of St. Albans, Vt. , 57, professor of Allied Health Science at Lyndon State College, died at her home in Lyndonville, Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born Feb. 28, 1944, in Manhattan, Kan., the daughter of Joe Nate and Marceil Ellen Wood. She earned bachelor of science and master of science degrees from Kansas State University, and a master of arts in counseling and doctorate in education from the University of South Dakota. Marty's great zest for life touched all those who knew her. Her big heart, grit, sense of humor, competitive spirit and "tell it like it is" approach gave inspiration to all who knew her. Marty was the ultimate teacher for students at Lyndon State College and Yankton College in South Dakota, as well as her friends. She was dedicated to preparing excellent physical educators, and leaves a legacy of professionals devoted to teaching and to her memory. Her personal life was filled with her dogs, friends, golf, fishing, gardening, and "Marty" cards, pool and domino competitions. She was a member of the St. Johnsbury Country Club, where she left her mark on the course as past Ladies Club Champion and mentor to many women golfers. She was the inspiration behind the "Marty Wood Par 3 Tournament" which is held in her honor. Marty and her easy smile will be missed by a legion of friends who are all better for having known her, and will cherish her memory and spirit. Marty is survived by her father, Joe Nate Wood, of Manhattan, Kan.; her brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Bev Wood of Orlando, Fla.; her nephew, Jonathan Wood of Dunwoody, Ga.; and her niece Jennifer Wood Ulloa and husband David and their two sons of Orlando, Fla. She is also survived by her constant four-legged companions, Ebby Lou and Sassy. , 86, White River Junction, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. She was born Nov. 26, 1914, in Morgan, a daughter of Omar and Cora (Hill) Hall. She attended school in Morgan and later worked as a cook at various restaurants in Vermont and western Massachusetts. For a time, she owned her own restaurant and bakery before going to work at a Chicopee, Mass., nursing home where she worked 25 years until retiring. She was looked after by her nephew, Lawrence Larrabee, in West Springfield, Mass., until moving to White River Junction in 1994 to be closer to her niece and guardian Shirley Brochu. She was predeceased by a brother Raymond; and four sisters, Bernice, Eula, Ethel and Beaulice. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Monday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. in the Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick. Arrangements are under the direction of the Knight Funeral Home. , 84, died at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital on Friday, Nov. 9, 2001. He was born in Norton Mills, Vt., on Aug. 4, 1917, to Joseph W. Duguay and Oliva (Eva) Lacroix. He lived most of his life in St. Johnsbury. He was a member of Vermont National Guard, 172 Infantry Company D and served his country in the Pacific during World War II where he was decorated with the Bronze Star. On April 29, 1946, he married Geraldine M. Gracie. He worked for over 40 years for The Peck Company and was a parishioner of Notre Dame de Victories. He especially enjoyed helping people in any way he could. He loved to fish, hunt and garden, but his greatest joy in life was his family. He spent countless hours with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and he taught them through his example that love and family are the true riches in life. He was predeceased by his parents and by his sisters, Gabrielle Duguay and Margaret Brinkerhoff. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gerry; his son Joseph; daughters Theresa, Nancy and Mary; the children of his heart, Anita Lynaugh and Bruno Ravel; son-in-law Richard Swanson; sisters Celina Deming, Pauline Collins and husband Chauncey, and Patricia Rutherford and husband Ivan; mother-in-law Dorothy Gracie; brother-in-law Richard Gracie and his friend Susan Dugan; numerous loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends; close family friends Michele Laberge and Brian Reak. Chelsea was very fond of horseback riding, music and swinging on her tire swing. Her husband, Alex, whom she married April 12, 1954, predeceased her on Feb. 26, 2000. Their son, Timothy, predeceased her in 1964. Mr. Tubman served in the Army for 20 years, retiring Aug. 1, 1968. The Tubmans returned to St. Johnsbury in 1976. Pat was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. A sports fan, she rooted for the New York Yankees and the North Carolina Tarheels. She collected figurines, Elvis memorabilia, and did lots of knitting. She is survived by two brothers: Robert Freeman of the Union House in Glover, Charlie Freeman and wife Donna of Asheboro, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Stearns of St. Johnsbury; Alex's sister: Gloria Lang of St. Johnsbury; nieces and nephews. , died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at Kendal at Hanover in Hanover, N.H., after a long and valiant struggle with cancer. She was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Portland, Maine, the only child of Charles E. and Georgia Sherry Carlton. She grew up in Cambridge, Mass., and attended the Buckingham School and Radcliffe College. In August 1945 she married Gordon M. Browne Jr., and they moved to the North Shore of Chicago, where her husband taught in independent schools. They lived in Illinois for 13 years, during which time all six of their children were born. In 1949, the family began spending vacations on Cape Cod, which Edith had loved as a child, and in 1958 moved to the Cape Cod village of Cotuit. Edith became active in village life, serving as president of the Cotuit Nursery School, as an election judge for the town of Barnstable, of which Cotuit is a part, and as a member of several local committees. She joined Sandwich Monthly Meeting of Friends and worshipped at South Yarmouth Preparative Meeting. Over time, she served as presiding clerk of both meetings and as editor of the Sandwich Meeting newsletter. Though not a political activist, she felt keenly that racial discrimination and war were morally wrong. She was one of the founding group of the Cape Cod branch of the NAACP and joined other branch members in demonstrations aimed at ending lunch-counter discrimination in Woolworth's stores. She and her husband became military tax resisters in the early 1960s and continued that witness throughout her life. Her primary interest, however, was in family life, and she made her home a place of comfort, humor and love. Her devotion to her husband and children was salted with a sharp wit, patient firmness, and delight in harmless fun. She was an excellent cook and amateur painter. She loved the sea and the marshes and local birds and flowers, and those enthusiasms she shared with the children. In 1966, as a retreat from summer crowds on Cape Cod, the family acquired a small farm in the hills of Peacham, which they all came to love. When the children were grown, Edith and Gordon spent two years in New York representing Quakers at the United Nations. Edith organized the office library, entertained diplomats and visiting Quakers, and enjoyed the opera and theaters of the city. But home was still Cotuit in winter and Vermont in summer, and they returned gratefully to those delights when their appointment at the U.N. ended. Only two years later, however, Gordon was appointed to work with Friends World Committee for Consultation, the International Quaker organization that keeps Quakers worldwide in touch with one another and working on common concerns, and they moved to Philadelphia. His responsibilities were primarily in the Americas, but he and Edith traveled widely, including trips to visit Quakers in Northern Ireland, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kenya, Japan and Korea. Edith was a full-time volunteer in the FWCC office, doing whatever useful work she was asked to do. Edith and Gordon retired in 1988 and returned to Cotuit, but three of their children and their families had settled in their own homes on the farm in Vermont. That led Edith and Gordon to move there, too, in 1990. They joined Plainfield Meeting of Friends, and Edith edited the meeting newsletter for several years. In 1999, they moved to the Quaker-sponsored retirement community in Hanover, N.H., Kendal at Hanover, where Edith had excellent and compassionate medical care until her death. She is survived by her husband; her daughter Sarah Polito of Cataumet, Mass.; her son Charles Browne of Peacham; her daughter Rebecca Lafferty of Peacham; her daughter Deborah Carpilio of East Providence, R.I.; her daughter Elizabeth Klaus of Carlisle, Iowa; her son Richard Browne of Peacham; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. , 89, died Sunday afternoon, Nov. 18, 2001, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. She was born in Cambridge, Vt., Feb. 1, 1912, the daughter of William A. and Etta (Gregory) Newell. Her husband, Howard B. Clifford, whom she married Feb. 2, 1928, predeceased her Sept. 7, 1991. The Cliffords returned to the area from Connecticut in 1983 and resided at the Maple Ridge Trailer Park in Lyndonville. She made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Alana and Willy St. George, at 210 Winter St., St. Johnsbury, for the past five years. Her greatest source of joy was always her family. In Connecticut she was a machinist for Pratt and Whitney engine manufacturing and Colt Industries firearms manufacturing. She was last employed at Szabo Food Service, which principally served Pratt and Whitney. She is survived by four children, A. Barbara Masciangioli and husband Anthony of New Britain, Conn., Duane Clifford and wife Catherine of Ellington, Conn., Bruce Clifford and wife Nancy of East Hartford, Conn., and Alana St. George and husband Wilfred of St. Johnsbury; 17 grandchildren, Debra Gibbs, Barbara Masciangioli, Toni Masciangioli, and Joy Linnick; Tamara, Andrea, Michael, and Gary Clifford; Laura Mello and Kim Allen; Duane Drown; Willy's children, Yven, Phil, Andre, Monique, Marc and Martin St. George; 19 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Howard Jr. as an infant, and Gary at 17; and two brothers, Lynn and Wayne Newell. In lieu of services, friends and family are invited to gather at the Sayles Funeral Home this Saturday afternoon, Nov. 24, from 1-2 p.m. for reflections and remembrances. , 71, of Sheffield, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. He was born July 21, 1930, in Barre, the son of Matthew W. and Gertrude T. (Coughlin) O & #039;Hagan. Mr. O & #039;Hagan was educated in the Barre schools and attended St. Michael's College in Winooski before enlisting in the U.S. Marines in 1950. After his service he returned to Barre and took over the Roux Granite Company following his father's death. He was commander of the American Legion in Barre, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. On Sept. 29, 1956, he married M. Patricia "Pat" Hanley of Seymour, Conn. After a short stay in Connecticut they moved to Massachusetts and brought up their five children in North Chelmsford, Mass. Mr. O & #039;Hagan was in sales for many years and eventually had his own business as a manufacturers & #039; representative. Before retiring to Vermont he was involved in telemarketing sales. Mr. O & #039;Hagan retired to Vermont with his wife in 1995. He was a member of St. Elizabeth's Church in Lyndonville and was active in the Sheffield Historical Society. He particularly enjoyed fishing and treated his family with trout dinners. He also enjoyed drawing and painting, and was an avid reader. Both he and his wife liked to travel. They spent several winters in Florida and also traveled to Spain, Ireland, Greece and Turkey. Besides his wife, Pat, he is survived by his daughter, Maureen M. O & #039;Hagan of Marblehead, Mass.; four sons, Matthew E. and wife Deborah of West Bloomfield, Mich., Shawn P. and wife Maria of Manchester, N.H., Terence D. and his fiancee Susan Molloy of Winchester, Mass., and Mark and wife Mary of Bolton, Mass.; two granddaughters, Toni and Kelly of Michigan; four grandsons, Matthew of Michigan Nicholas and Cory of New Hampshire, and Quinn of Massachusetts; two sisters, Margaret Ayer of Montpelier and Mary Gregg of Hampton Beach, N.H.; three sisters-in-law, Gaylene Johnston of Prospect, Conn., Rosanne Dahn and husband Richard of Meriden, Conn., and Susanne Dolan of Seymour, Conn.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, and five siblings, who died in infancy. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lyndonville, with the Rev. Stephen Nichols celebrant. , 81, of Newark, Vt., formerly of North Caldwell, N.J., died at the home of his daughter, Jill Agostini, in North Caldwell. Born in Hoboken, N.J., he resided in North Caldwell for most of his life before moving to Newark in 1975. He retired as a standards engineer for Kearfott-General Precision of West Paterson, N.J., after 25 years. Previously, he was employed at Reaction Motors of Rockaway, N.J., and Federal ShipBuilding of Kearny, N.J. Mr. Hombach was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was an avid bowler. His daughter, Janice Ellen Hombach, predeceased him in 1953. Survivors include his wife, the former Eileen DeVisser; his daughter, Jill Agostini and her husband Charles Jr. of North Caldwell, N.J.; and five grandchildren, Jody Agostini Rusin and her husband Ronald, and Chas, Mark, Kaitlyn and Brian. , 80, of Route 122, Wheelock, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 21, 2001, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury, with his family at his side. He was born May 3, 1921, in Lyndon, the son of Herbert H. and Grace (Hill) Stahler. After being schooled in Lyndon he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On July 27, 1946, he married Norma Johnson. He operated a dairy farm for 20 years on Route 122, where his family still lives. After he sold his cows he had a Christmas tree plantation on his farm. He also was a partner with Bob Beausoleil, operating a real estate and logging business in the Northeast for seven years. With the help of his three sons he operated R.A. Stahler and Sons Inc. on Broad Street in Lyndonville, selling farm machinery and recreational vehicles for 20 years. He was very proud of the high quality equipment they sold and even more proud of his three sons, and enjoyed working with them daily. His family was most important to him. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Norma Stahler of Wheelock; three sons and their wives, David Sr. and Rena of Lyndon, Larry and Carol of St. Johnsbury, and Michael and Diane Stahler of Lyndon; 10 grandchildren, David Jr. and his wife Erica, Daniel, Nathan, Renee, Heather, Seth, Michael A., Logan, Elizabeth Stahler and Gabi Novick; two great-grandchildren, Tammi Brooks and Paytyn Pope; his brother, Howard Stahler and his wife Mildred of East Barnet; two sisters, Beverly Platt of Southington, Conn., and Marjorie Zamoic of Meriden, Conn.; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Stahler of Lyndonville, June and her husband Gordon Ellis, and Anna Johnson; a cousin, Evelyn and her husband Phil Pillsbury; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Francis Stahler. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. at the Lyndonville First Congregational Church with the Rev. , 89, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at the home of her daughter, Barbara D. Dodge, 25 Blaney Road in Bethlehem. Her family was by her bedside. She had suffered from Parkinson's Disease for many years. She was born Jan. 30, 1912, a daughter of Zack and Ida (Smallwood) Harris in Aiken, Minn. She was the well-known pastry cook at the Bonnie Briar Restaurant in summer and at the Mittersill Inn in winter. Mrs. Derrington's greatest enjoyment came from her family and love of flowers and gardens. Surviving family includes her daughter, Barbara D. Dodge of Bethlehem; her son, James G. Derrington and wife Sherry of Bethlehem; three grandchildren, Kimberly Knighton, Scott Derrington and Kristin Dodge; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Garfield Derrington, in 1988. There are no calling hours. The funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 11 a.m. from the Littleton First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Joseph Beardsley officiating. , 74, of the McKee Inn, Lancaster, died Saturday evening, Nov. 24, 2001, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., after a recent illness. Mrs. Cito was born in Mineola, Long Island, N.Y., May 11, 1927, the daughter of Joseph T. and Nettie L. (Zorn) Florick. Raised on Long Island, she was a 1945 graduate of Hempstead High School. She went on to attend Zwerin's Secretarial Studio, also in Hempstead. In 1947 she married her first husband, James H. Graham. In 1958 she married her second husband, Fred Cito. Fred predeceased her in 1972, the same year they purchased a home in Lancaster, and she continued with the move. For 17 years she was employed with George M. Stevens Insurance, Lancaster. She was employed with Weeks Home Health, Lancaster, at the time of her death. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who also loved her cats. She was a volunteer at Weeks Memorial Hospital, member and past president of Colonel Town Senior Citizens, Lancaster, and a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Berlin. Family members include three daughters, Jacqueline Graham of Anchorage, Alaska, Colleen Cassady of Lancaster, and Phyllis Gonyer of Littleton; eight grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and a brother, David Florick of Albany, N.Y. She was also predeceased by infant twins Jean and Joan; a brother, Joseph T. Florick Jr.; and two sisters, Dorothy Kopy and Delia Kane. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday afternoon and evening, Nov. 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. David Rose, pastor of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, will officiate. 67, of 54 Pine St., Lisbon, passed away peacefully at his residence, Sunday morning, Nov. 25, 2001. He was born in Littleton, the son of Harry and Alta Pauline (Foster) Dodge, and was a lifelong resident of Lisbon. He worked as a truck driver for many years for Jake Fineman, cattle dealer, and for the past 23 years had been employed at the Irving Oil Company, from which he retired in March of this year. He was a member of the Lisbon Fire Department for 20 years prior to retirement, and was a former member of the State, Pomona and National granges. He also had been a member of the Lisbon Stump-Jumper Sno-Mobile Club. He is survived by his wife Joyce (Alexander) Dodge; two sons, Bryan Dodge, and Jeffrey and Patty Dodge, all of Lisbon; and 10 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Ross Funeral Home, Lisbon Chapel, Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. There will be no visiting hours. Burial will take place in the Grove Hill Cemetery in Lisbon. , 85, of West Burke, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, at the Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center in Lyndonville. He was born Feb. 16, 1916, in West Burke, the son of the late Louis and Josephine (Norcolla) Chabot. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the West Burke Methodist Church. Before retiring, he worked as a foreman for Western Union. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. , 58, of Needham, Mass., died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001 at her home after a long illness. Born in Waltham, Mass., Carolyn was a resident of Needham for 53 years. She graduated from Needham High School, Class of 1961, and later graduated from LaSalle College with an art degree in 1963. Carolyn was a freelance calligrapher for many years. She was very active in the Christ Episcopal Church in Needham, serving the Alter Guild on various committees, and was a past director. Carolyn's love for art was reflected in her creative cooking, painting, stenciling and sewing. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, David W. Lombard; her three daughters, Kristin and husband Jeff Smith of West Chester, Ohio, Heidi and husband Tripp Johnson of Medfield, Mass., and Erica and husband David Stahler of Wheelock, Vt.; her mother, Catherine (Vara) Doucette of Needham; a sister, Michelle Doucette of Franklin, Mass.; and grandchildren Brian and Carolyn Smith, and Abigail, Matthew and William Johnson. She was predeceased by her father, George J. Doucette. , 78, of St. Johnsbury, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. He was born in Sabastin, Quebec, Canada, May 20, 1923, the son of Antonia and Juliette (Bergeron) Lapierre. Mr. Lapierre went to school in Milan, Quebec, later working for the Canadian Pacific Railroad both in Canada and St. Johnsbury. In 1981, he retired. On July 12, 1952, he married Ethel (Widger) Lapierre of St. Johnsbury, who survives him. Survivors also include three children, Danny and wife Kim Lapierre of Monroe, N.H., Marilyn and husband Archie Fournier of Lyndonville, and Nancy Bijolle of St. Johnsbury; four brothers, Raoul and wife Gisele Lapierre of St. Johnsbury, George and wife Christine of St. Johnsbury Center, Rejean and wife Marireine Lapierre of Montreal, and Jean Guy and wife Denise Lapierre of Montreal; seven sisters, Pauline Gingue and husband Joe of St. Johnsbury, Therese Paunault, Georgette and husband Roland Benoit, Cecile and husband Betrand Turcotte, Suzanne and husband Gervais Brault, Mariette and husband Leo Grenier, and Bibiane Lapierre, all of Canada; five grandchildren, Justin and Celise Lapierre, Jennifer and Shawn Bijolle and Christena and husband Rob Desjardins; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. , 59, of Lyndonville, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at his home on Charles Street. He was born Sept. 1, 1942, in Utica, N.Y., the son of the late Edward and Dorothy "Jill" (Purdy) Quinn. John served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1961 until 1965. John was store manager for Ames Department Store on Portland Street in St. Johnsbury for nearly 20 years. He had also been manager of Rich's Department Store in St. Johnsbury and manager of the Lincoln Inn Restaurant there as well. Most recently he was manager of Brooks Drug Store in Littleton, N.H. For many years he owned and operated Caledonia Property Management, a personal business from his home. Memberships include the St. Johnsbury Jaycees and the Kiwanis Club. John worked for many years on the fireworks displays in the Lyndon and St. Johnsbury area. A man loved and respected by those who knew and worked with him, he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his son, Shaun Quinn and his wife Jeanne of Greenland, N.H.; two daughters, Amanda McKenney and her companion John Andrews of Newmarket, N.H., and Sara Quinn of Enfield, N.H.; three granddaughters, Oshun Quinn, and Morgan and Paige McKenney; a brother, Richard Quinn of Florida; two sisters, Heather Quinn of Camillus, N.Y., and Susan Wells and her husband Mark, also of Camillus, N.Y.; one niece and five nephews. 65, of Jewell Hill, Lyndon, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 27, 2001, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury. He was born July 25, 1936, in South Paris, Maine, the son of the late Freeman K. and Dorothy (Harvey) Abbott. Following high school Fred entered the Marine Corps, where he served three years. After his discharge he joined the U.S. Army, serving 20 years. He served in Germany and two tours in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Purple Heart, and completed his duty stateside as an army recruiter for many years. In 1970 he recruited Jane Poginy into the U.S. Army, and married her July 27, 1974. After his discharge in 1977, Fred and Jane moved to St. Johnsbury. He was a Boy Scout leader for several years. He worked at the unemployment office in St. Johnsbury for two years, helping fellow veterans find jobs. Later, he worked for Norcross Office Equipment, selling and repairing office equipment for approximately 10 years. Fred was a member of AMVETS and held life memberships in the DAV, the VFW, and the American Legion in St. Johnsbury. He enjoyed dancing and was a member of the Country Corner Squares. He also enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and the great out-of-doors. He is survived by his wife Jane of Lyndon; their son, Keith Abbott and fiancee Tanika Marcy of Lyndon; two daughters, Loretta Grantham and her husband Charles of Pine Mountain Valley, Ga.; and Jennifer Harris and her husband James of West Burke; a grandson, Charles Wayne Grantham III; two brothers, Steve Abbott and his wife Mary of Albuquerque, N.M., and Ron Abbott of Bangor, Maine; three sisters and their husbands, Dorothy and Harold Sabens of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, Sharon and Terry Fortin of Sidney, Maine, and Laurel and Jesse Akers of North Vassalboro, Maine; his mother- and father-in-law, Oliver and Mary Poginy of Derby; four brothers- and sisters-in-law, James and Nettie Poginy of Connecticut, Carolyn and Jerry Heath of Hyde Park, Barbara and Gordon Fisher of Littleton, N.H., and Jerry Poginy of Derby; and nieces, nephews and many close friends. , 46, of Quint Road in South Ryegate, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at his home following a period of failing health. He was born in Windsor, Vt., Sept. 19, 1955, the son of Andrew and Natalie (Allen) Tie, and was a lifetime Vermont resident. He was a graduate of Springfield (Vt.) High School. He had been employed as a woodworker and furniture maker at Pompanoosic Mills and Copeland's Furniture Manufacturing. Alan loved the outdoors. He also loved fishing, hunting, camping, fairs and animals. He enjoyed being with his family, especially the grandchildren. His hobbies included working with wood. Members of his surviving family include his wife, Gail Marie (Tolbert) Tie of South Ryegate, whom he married Feb. 14, 1988; a step-daughter, Sharon Eastman and her husband David of Claremont, N.H.; two step-sons, Walter Young and his wife Patty of East Orange, Vt., and Richard Titorenko and his wife Teresa of Bath, N.H.; many grandchildren; a brother, Clayton Tie of Springfield, Vt.; two sisters, Sharon Picard of Chester, Vt., and Linda Allen of Springfield, Vt.; and several nieces and nephews. , 77, of 329 Railroad St., Littleton, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001 at Littleton Regional Hospital, of natural causes. Born Aug. 17, 1924, he was a son of A. Michael and Loretta (Schlaug) Becker. Previous to his retirement, Charles had worked for Crowe's Logging of Littleton, and earlier for Paul Douholuk Construction. He enjoyed hunting, was an avid sportsman and trapper. Surviving family members include his wife Christine of Littleton; six children, Donna, Marcia, Jill, Charles, Richard and Aaron; a sister, Francis Mooney of Littleton; a brother, Fred Becker of Calais, Maine; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren in addition to nieces and nephews. , 56, of Morrisville, Vt., died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001 in Copley Hospital, Morrisville, following a long illness. He was born in Barre, March 22, 1945, the son of Cleon M. and Nellie (Richardson) Cady. He married the former Harriet Kidder, June 10, 1994. Most of Raymond's working career was as a self-employed logger. His love of the outdoors led to his enjoyment of hunting and fishing. Raymond also possessed creative skills, doing nature settings in carved wood and burnt etchings, and he was skilled in carpentry, having built his garage. Besides his wife Harriet, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Nellie Cady of Morrisville; a daughter, Laurie Carpenter and husband Robert of Lyndonville; three sons, Ricky and Raymond of Spokane, Wash., and Rocky of St. Johnsbury; three brothers, Francis of Hardwick, Robert of East Hardwick, and Richard and wife Carol of Coventry; two sisters, Beverly Patrick and husband Vern, and Lucille Bentley and husband Curtis, all of Hardwick; seven grandchildren; four step-sons, Roger Dixon Jr. of Fairfax, Rodney Dixon of Morrisville, Robert Dixon of Orange, and Ronald Dixon of Bakersfield; a step-daughter, Robin West of Morrisville; 14 step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Raymond was predeceased by his father; a son, Randy; a grandson, Joseph; and a brother, Cleon "Junior." , 91, of 60 Academy Lane, McIndoe Falls, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at her residence after an extended illness. She was born in East St. Johnsbury, Nov. 8, 1910, the daughter of Alfred and Mary Elizabeth (Hadley) Gravett. Mrs. Woolson worked for First National Warehouse in North Haverhill, N.H., and for 25 years, until her retirement, she worked in the kitchen at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, N.H. Surviving relatives include three daughters, Hazel Pearl and husband Russell of McIndoe Falls, Dorothy Davidson, and Sylvia Patten, both of North Haverhill; one son, Richard Williams and wife Grace of Warwick, Mass.; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, Louis Hadley of Morgan, Vt.; and several nieces and nephews.
