LANCASTER – Mi Hwa Bell
....show left this world quietly in her sleep at home, with her loving husband by her side, March 17, following a yearlong battle with cancer
Born July 17th, 1948 in South Korea she was separated from her family at an early age. The Korean War brought many challenges to her life, however, it was during this time she met her lifelong partner and husband Charles M. Bell. Charles was serving a tour of duty in the US Army and they were soon engaged, which would be immediately followed by an exchange of nuptials on June 23, 1971 in Fort Devens, MA.

LUNENBURG – Joyce Ann (Monahan) Fournier
....show , 89, of Lunenburg, Vermont, ended her fierce battle against the ravages of age and illness and went to meet her Lord on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster after a brief final illness.
Joyce was born at the old hospital on Main Street in Lancaster on April 30, 1927, daughter of Ernest and Hazel (Davis) Monahan. She was raised on the Monahan farm, overlooking Neal Pond in Lunenburg. Her fondest memories of growing up on the family farm at the edge of “North Star Country” were of tramping through the woods with her big sister Barbara, poking around the old lumber camps and enjoying the wildflowers. This bred in her a great love of being outdoors in the fresh air that she carried with her throughout life.
Joyce attended the one-room school in the Pierce District through 8th grade, then went one year to Lancaster Academy before going out into the working world. She was employed at Gilman Paper Company in Gilman for a time during World War II, then trained as a telephone operator and worked for New England Telephone and Telegraph in Lancaster until she married.
On August 5, 1946, Joyce married Eugene Raymond Fournier of Lunenburg, and they set about making a life together and raising their three sons. In the early 1950s, they built the camp at Neal Pond, where they spent many happy times with children and extended family. In 1955, they moved into the first home they ever owned, converted from the West Neighborhood school where Gene had been a pupil. During these years, Joyce could often be found with ax or “spud” in hand, working in the woods at her husband’s side.
In 1965, the family moved to the farm on Fournier Road in West Neighborhood, the place where Joyce would spend the rest of her days. Over the next 20 years, she and Gene worked impossibly hard, wresting a farm from the rocky hillside and gaining a reputation as excellent farmers. With Joyce as chief herdswoman, they built one of the finest and most awarded small dairy herds in the area. After the dairy herd was sold in 1987, she maintained the farm and raised replacement heifers as long as she was able, and could often be seen riding the tractor, tedding or raking hay.
In addition to being a tough but loving mother, Joyce was a wonderful dessert cook – a gift she had from her mother and her sister Margaret. She also loved reading, gardening, bird-watching, and Irish, Scottish, and old-time fiddle music.
She is survived by three sons: Michael and wife Rosalene, of Lunenburg; Alan and wife Jeannine, of Loganville, Wisconsin; and Gary, of Lunenburg. She is also survived by two beloved grandchildren: Jacob, of Lunenburg; and Lydia, of Kittery, Maine.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gene, in 1986; by two sisters, Margaret Jane Colby and Barbara Mary Wolfe; and by her big brother, Kenneth Monahan, whom she adored. A brother, Donald, died in infancy.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 19, at 11 am, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Lunenburg. Rev. Matthew Mason, pastor of the Gate of Heaven Parish, will officiate.
Donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to Top of the Common Committee, PO Box 195, Lunenburg, VT 05906; or to Riverside Rescue, 236 Riverside Ave., Lunenburg, VT 05906.

Jeannine went home to be with the Lord, whom she loved and served, following a brief illness on June 29, 2016. She was born in Geneva, New York on August 2, 1933, the daughter of Ralph W. and Viola E. (Furness) Emerson.
She later graduated from Owego Free Academy, Owego, NY in 1950 after attending her first three years of high school at Newport High School in Newport, Vermont. On April 8, 1951, she married her high school sweetheart and life-long best friend, Ronald A. Gardner, who predeceased her on September 15, 2009.
To them were born four children, Dana R Gardner (wife Karen) of Tiverton, RI; Ronni Jean Fedele, who predeceased Jeannine on October 30, 2002; Laurie L Gardner (significant other Peter Kramer) of Reading, MA; and Glenn R Gardner (wife Lori Jo) of Littleton, NH.
She was blessed with 8 grandchildren whom she loved and prayed for; Heather Gardner, Andrea Kegelman, Jaclyn Paglia, Aaron Ward, Allison Fulford, Isaac Gardner, Cassady Hantz, and Reannan Young. Jeannine also enjoyed her 8 great-grandchildren; Brian Bourquez, Mia Buonarosa, Ronni Brynn Kegelman, Aaden Ward, Logan Ward, Chase Belisle, Emerson Fulford, and Garrett Cole; and would eagerly await updates of each one of them.
She is also survived by two sisters, Sherill Marciano (husband John) of Ramona, CA and Maryon Lopez of San Diego, CA. She was predeceased by another sister, Luann Harding of Caballo, NM.
Jean, as she was known to many, was an L.P.N. having graduated from Household Nursing Association School of Practical Nursing in Boston, MA in 1955. She later earned her Associates Degree in Nursing from Vermont College in 1987. An accomplishment of which she and her entire family were quite proud. She worked in various hospitals in MA, NY, TX, and VT and finished her career employed at Orleans and Northern Essex Home Health Agency of Newport, VT.
Among her many interests and passions, Jean was an avid reader. Right up until her death she would always have one and most often two different fiction novels, biographies, or historical narratives together with her cherished Bible under her purview. She was smart, well read and taught each of her children and several of her grand-children the joy of reading.
She also had a keen interest in both live theater and the cinema. She fondly recalled when she was a young girl her mother, Viola, and she would sneak away from the rest of the family for Saturday matinees at the local movie house. She often spoke of those times as amongst her most favorite. Later on, her daughter Ronni Jean started a tradition that stands to this day of taking Jean to the Weathervane Theater to celebrate her birthday. After Ronni’s passing, daughter Laurie willingly and happily carried on. She would always be so excited when the new schedule would come out each year as she would ponder which shows she would want to see and would be eager to share them with all of her family. Jean enjoyed acting herself and participated in drama and theater in her younger years.
In her own words, her greatest enjoyment was time she spent with her family and friends. Her deepest wish for them was that they might come to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord as she did and so to have an assurance of meeting together in heaven in His presence where she now awaits. She was an active member of the Whitefield Baptist Church, Whitefield, NH.
Arrangements are being managed by Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster, NH. A celebration of life and memorial service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016, at 11:00 am at the Whitefield Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Vigne officiating. Interment will take place at the Derby Center Cemetery in Derby, VT at a date to be determined by the family.

JEFFERSON – Joseph A. Doiron
....show , 93, died Sunday morning, December 27, 2015 at The Morrison in Whitefield.
Mr. Doiron was born and raised in Berlin, NH, the son of Andre and Marie Rose (Landry) Doiron. He worked as a carpenter during his time in the Navy during WWII and for over 60 years built and remodeled numerous homes in the Northern part of New Hampshire. He took pride in every task treating it as his own.
A devoted father and husband, he and his wife, Jacqueline (Clermont) Doiron, raised three children and in 1969 moved his family to Jefferson where they had, ten years prior, purchased and ran the once Woodford House but now renamed the Clermont after his wife’s family name.
In the late 1970’s he and his son set about the engineering task of building a solar home which he and his wife moved into in the mid 1980’s following the sale of the Clermont.
After his wife’s death in 2004 he, at the age of 82, with the help of his son-in-law, built the beautiful home he has lived in until July of this year when he became a resident of The Morrison due to failing health.
An avid organic gardener, there was never a spot inside or outside of the house that did not show off his expertise nor did a day go by where he lacked a new joke to share and only in the more recent years have his tackle boxes collected dust.
His final days were spent at The Morrison where, in his knowing what lie ahead, looked forward to leaving the cares of this earth to bask in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Young and old family and friends awaited his arrival on the other side.
Tenacious of character he was respected and loved by many. He leaves behind wonderful, caring friends.
Surviving family members include his three children, Gerald Doiron and wife Sandra of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Rachel Shutt and husband Samuel of Phoenix, AZ, Denise Chase of Jefferson; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by Jacqueline in 2004; two granddaughters Christen Kenison in 2000, Patty Card in 2015; and 8 siblings.
A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon, January 16, at 1:00 PM at the Jefferson Christian Church. Pastor Dean A. Stiles will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Kilkenny View Cemetery, Jefferson.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Jefferson Christian Church Haiti Mission.

ELIZABETH CITY, NC - On the afternoon of January 20, 2017, at the age of 94, Marie Evangeline Pelletier
....show departed this world to be with her Lord and her beloved family.
Marie was born in Saint-Ephrem De Fitch Bay, Quebec Canada on December 22, 1922. She was predeceased by her Father Pierre Pelletier, Mother Marie-Anne Rioux-Pelletier and twelve other brothers and sisters: Marie Anne, Zephirin, Edouard, Valeria, Aurore, Robert, Augustine Joseph, Joseph Victor, Andre Joseph, Adrien, Marie Louise and Theresa.
Marie or “Be” as she was fondly called moved with her family to the United States as a young girl speaking only French at the time. They ultimately settled in Lancaster, NH where the family farmed the land, and raised numerous milking cows. Her calling in life was not to marry and have children of her own; she chose to dedicate her life to lovingly care for her parents, immediate family members, and others she held dear to her heart.
Along her family’s side she worked hard on the farm. In the early 1950's she worked at a nursing home in Lancaster, NH and then later in the 50's and early 60's, she worked at Weeks Memorial Hospital in Lancaster, NH as a dietitian. She also spent many years helping others through Home Health Care. Marie also lived and worked in Chicopee, MA for a short time to be with her sister Aurore "Pelletier" Morin and niece Pauline Morin. In 1979 she moved to Littleton NH with her sister Aurora and a grand-niece. Within the first few years in Littleton she worked at home for the Littleton Shoe company lacing shoes at home. In 1982 she was asked to help an elderly friend at home during this friend’s illness. Marie was a loyal friend, confidant and employee and as such she never refused helping her friends like Ms. Bobbie Pollard and her husband, Lyle in their store retail store, "The Hideaway Shop" in Lancaster, NH.
In the pursuing years from 1983 to 2003 she along with her sister Aurora retired in Littleton enjoying their time with her great-grandnephew Nathan Lloyd and great-grandniece Nicole Lloyd Whipple as well as helping and caring for anyone in need.
In the fall of 2004 at the age of 83, just prior being diagnosed with dementia, she moved to Elizabeth City, NC where she lived for the last ten years of her life in the home with her great-niece and spouse Rita and David Cornelius, and their children, Justin, Brianna, and Aunt Be’s "little doll," Kayla. She enjoyed the warm climate and her family there for as long as her memory allowed.
When her health severely declined, she was then taken care of by the caring staff of The Kindred Care Nursing Home in Elizabeth City, NC until her passing.
She leaves behind a trail of many fond memories by nieces and nephews and others she touched with her kind heart and caring hands.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday May 12th at 11:00 AM at All Saints Church in Lancaster. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster.
