He spent his youth in Connecticut and Vermont, later settling in Newark with his wife Janet in 1994. Scott attended Oliver Wolcott Technical School in Torrington, Conn. where he excelled in all hands-on skills, especially auto mechanics. As a boy, instead of bringing home stray puppies, Scott brought home an amazing collection of rusty, broken motors, engines and car parts to be taken apart, put back together, and fixed. Scott enjoyed carpentry and built the house in Newark. Scott could repair anything from a tiny wrist watch to a town grader. Many of the furnishings in their home were Scott's creations as were many of the innovative machines in his shop and garage. He was also a self taught musician, singer, and song writer who played with groups throughout New England. For the past two years, he co-hosted the monthly jamboree at the West Burke Senior Meal Site with his friend, Jim. Jeannette A. (Chouinard) Bedor
....show , 75, of St. Johnsbury, VT passed from this life peacefully at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab on March 10, 2016, with her family by her side. She was born in Greensboro, VT on July 16, 1940 to Joseph E. and Marjorie F. (Sheltra) Chouinard. She was the seventh of ten children born to the Chouinards. Jeannette grew up in Greensboro and later married her husband of 51 years, Joseph H. Bedor who predeceased her on June 10, 2011. Joe and Jeannette lived on the Bedor family farm in Stark District, St. Johnsbury, their entire married lives where they took care of Joseph's parents and raised seven children of their own. Jeannette, known more fondly by her family as Meme took great joy over the years in caring for her family and many other extended family members and friends who frequented "The Farm." She always made sure everyone had a full belly when they came to her home, especially her grandchildren who gave her so much joy in her life. Her specialties were Meme's tomato soup which is still a favorite of her grand kids, her yummy apple pies and oh! her chicken pie with biscuits was to die for. She always loved a full house when all her family would come for holiday festivities and Sunday dinners. Her favorite thing to do when everyone got together at the farm was to play a big rowdy game of "Crack", her favorite card game. There are many fond memories by all of us who joined in one of those games. Jeannette and Joe loved to go dancing on Saturday nights when they were younger. In her later years she was still dancing whenever she got the chance such as at her grandson's wedding even though she had to use a walker to help her do it. She was definitely full of spunk and was not one to sit on the side lines. She had a kind of inner strength that was amazing for someone so small and frail. That strength got her through many tough days as her rheumatoid arthritis made life too difficult for her to stay in her home anymore. She had many painful days and this past winter was especially difficult for her but she fought the good fight right til the end and she left this world on her own terms. Jeannette is survived by her children Paul (Leslie) Bedor of St. Johnsbury, VT, Pauline Drown of St. Johnsbury, VT, Louise (Craig) Hartshorn of Concord, VT, Daniel (Janel) Bedor of Siloam Springs, AR, Maurice Bedor (Kim) of St. Johnsbury, VT, Rachel (Casey) Daniels of Lyndonville, VT, and Sylvia Bedor (Shannon Larocque) of St. Johnsbury, VT. Her two brothers Lionel (Marge) Chouinard, Ernest (Noella) Chouinard and five sisters Lorraine Bellevance, Florence (Gene)Dubay, Beatrice (Gaston) Riendeau, Evelyn Rich and Bernadette (Walter) Gallant, four sister-in-laws Claire Chouinard, Lorraine Bedor , Sandra Bedor and Alice Ainsworth as well as seventeen grandchildren, Jason(Elizabeth) Bedor, Fawn, Crystal, Vanessa and Tanya Bedor, Zachary (Beth) and Jacob Drown, Justin Richards (Tina), Curtis (Jessie) Bedor, Conner Bedor, Joseph, Joshua and Keisha Bedor, Desirae and Levi Daniels, Emma and Grace Larocque and four great grandchildren, Faith Richards, Asa and Olin Drown, and Drea Bedor as well as many, many nieces and nephews. Also by her very special care giver Heather Willard Smith, who she adored. She was predeceased by her parents, Joe's parents, two brothers, Roland Chouinard and Emile Chouinard and all but one of Joe's six siblings. Visiting hours will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home, 525 Summer Street, St. Johnsbury on Sunday, March 13th from 7-9 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church on the corner of Main Street and Winter Street on Monday, March 14th at 11:00 a.m. A private family burial on the family farm where she will be layed to rest next to Joe will take place later in the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab., 1248 Hospital Drive, St. Johnsbury VT 05819 in her memory and our family would like to thank them for the wonderful care she received while there and the care they showed to all of us in the days leading up to her death.
Marcia Behr
....show of Main Street, St. Johnsbury, passed away at home with her family late Wednesday evening, March 9, 2016, at the age of 99. Born in Syracuse, New York on August 22, 1916, she was the daughter of Sylvanus Delamere and May (Sedgwick) Ward. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Edward A. Behr on September 22, 2012. Marcia studied drama at Bennington College, graduating in the class of 1938. One of her fondest memories at Bennington was taking a dance class with the legendary choreographer Martha Graham, who slapped her on her posterior and told her not to stick it out too much! Apparently those lessons paid off, because after college she auditioned for and got a job with a vaudeville dance group called The Twinkle Toed Darlings. But acting was her passion, and after a year as a dancer she left to join the Bulgakov Repertory Company in New York City. Perhaps her proudest moment professionally was when the formidable New York Times reviewer Brooks Atkinson favorably reviewed her 1941 Broadway performance in "Kind Lady." During the Second World War, she served in the Red Cross in Australia and New Guinea. Upon her return from overseas, she worked for the New York City theater producer Alfred de Liagre, while she auditioned for roles on Broadway. But as fate would have it she met Edward A. Behr, a journalist with the Wall Street Journal, on a blind date and within a year they married. After their two sons were born, they moved to Washington, D.C. where Marcia continued to work in theater, both performing and teaching. In 1990, she published Coffee and Sympathy, a memoir about her service in the Red Cross. Even well into her nineties she never lost her focus on acting. She was thrilled to learn that her granddaughter Julia was working in Hollywood in the entertainment industry. She asked Julia, "Can you get me a job?" She is survived by her son Edward A. Behr, Jr. and his wife Kimberly of St. Johnsbury. Her younger son Robert preceded her in death in 2013. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Helen Behr of Madison, Wisconsin; Julia Behr of Los Angeles, California; Maximillian Buckminster and Zane Buckminster of St. Johnsbury; by her daughter-in-law Nancy Graham of Denver, Colorado; and by her many nieces and nephews across the country. The family thanks her devoted caregivers: Mindy MacDougall, Crystal Jones, and Janice Lacey for always making sure her tea was a hot as possible (which was never hot enough). A memorial service will be held in the spring.

He was raised and educated in Auburndale, MA, graduating from Brown & Nichols in the class of 1951. He matriculated to Princeton University, graduating Cum Laude from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs in 1955. Doug then served two years in the U.S. Army stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. He was awarded sharp shooter honors and worked as a radio operator. Doug designed and built his vacation home in East Burke, VT in 1971, and made the move permanently to the Northeast Kingdom in 1988. Douglas enjoyed an eclectic array of hobbies and passions. Often he would be seen doting on his daughter "Joaner" as he chauffeured her to-and-fro their favorite local stops, maintaining equal patronage at both the Northeast Kingdom Store and the East Burke Market for afternoon coffee. Doug escorted his wife Diane and Joan to Saturday afternoon masses at St. Elizabeth's Church, faithfully occupying the same pew, in the second-to-last row. And almost without fail, Doug would prepare an evening repast for guests and family, meeting the gourmet standards of Fanny Farmer and Julia Childs. The experience was only further enhanced by the full-flavor provender from his various gardens to rival Provence. Doug's recreational activities varied from decades long membership in the 1st Run Club at Burke Mountain, to "snapping his brutish forearms" as he drove golf balls lofty distances at Orleans Country club with cohorts Gator, Ford, and Fred. And of course there were his near daily forays onto the serpentine paths he carved into the woods near his perch overlooking the mountains. Evenings were spent in his "Patton Room" pouring through dense tomes from his extensive military history library. Douglas will be greatly missed by his family, his friends, his fellow parishioners and all fortunate enough to gather round his Table of Plenty.
