Marjorie L. Glodgett
....show , 73, of Brownington, beloved wife of Louis Glodgett, died on September 18, 2015, at her home with her family at her side.
She was born on February 16, 1942, in Middletown, Connecticut, the daughter of Harold and Bessie (Ennor) Rounds.
She graduated from Orleans High School.
Mrs. Glodgett enjoyed gardening, canning, hunting and fishing, yard sales, working in her flower gardens, embroidering, cooking for her family and for others who showed up at meal times, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and boating. She and Mr. Glodgett enjoyed doing most of these things together as they were very family oriented.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Glodgett, of Brownington; by her children: Forest Glodgett and his wife, Kara, Reginald Glodgett and his wife, Joanne, Lorrieann Glodgett, Lisa Hinton and her husband, Mark, Michael Glodgett and his wife, Cheryl, Christopher Glodgett and his wife, Christy, Sheila Davis and her husband, Brian, Louis Glodgett and his wife, Wanda, Tammy Bowman and her fiancé, John Zelanski, Rhoda Margolla and her husband, Remberto, and David Glodgett; by her 31 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; by several nieces and nephews; by her sister Alice Button and her husband, Richard; and by stepbrother Steven Rounds.
She was predeceased by a brother, Newton Rounds, and her grandson Joshua.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 21, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home at 4670 Darling Hill Road in Newport. Interment followed in Brownington Center Cemetery.

Elizabeth Gale Lewis
....show , 88, formerly of Barton died on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at the Bel-Aire Center in Newport.
She was born on November 9, 1926, in Newport. She was the daughter of Bert and Avis (Whitehill) Lewis.
After she graduated from Derby Academy, she attended Hesser College for nursing and business school in Manchester, New Hampshire. During World War II she was a plane spotter.
She worked for the former Howard Bank in the loan department in Barton for 25 years. Her second career, and also her hobby, was being an antiques dealer for 29 years. She would travel around and buy antiques. Her family was the heart of her life.
She enjoyed plants, gardening, cooking, antiquing, and collie dogs. She was also fascinated by history, especially by her Scottish heritage.
She met many friends through the years. She loved traveling, especially with her sister Irma. They went on several trips to Maine and Nova Scotia. Ms. Lewis played the violin in her younger years. She had a strong faith and was committed to the Barton United Church.
She is survived by many cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 26, at 11 a.m., at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Newport, with the Reverend Evelyn Coupe officiating.

Norma Alice (Ashe) Major
....show , 76, died on Friday, September 18. Her faith was her rock and as Jesus taught her, when muscular dystrophy was the cross she was given she valiantly took up that cross and followed her Lord. When that cross became heavy it was her unwavering faith in God and the love and prayers of her family and friends that helped her continue on.
Mrs. Major was born on December 6, 1938, to Merton Toots and Myrtle (Robertson) Ashe. She was the youngest of seven children. Her two surviving sisters are Althea Gillis of Colchester and Beverley Chaffee of Montpelier.
On September 5, 1959, she married the love of her life, Paul Major, who survives her. Her greatest job in life was being a mother, at which she excelled. The children, who were blessed to call her Ma, are Penny Wood and her husband, John, of Stratham, New Hampshire, Linda Curtis and her husband, Clark, of Newport, Christine Smith and her husband, Jim, of Newport, and Deb Prue and her husband, Bill, of Newport. God continued His blessings on her with ten grandchildren: Geoffrey Wood and his wife, Christina, of Dover, New Hampshire, Michael Wood and his companion, Jenn, of North Berwick, Maine, Laura Mullen and her husband, Brendan, of Kensington, New Hampshire, Adam Curtis and his wife, Suzanne, of South Burlington, Spencer Curtis of Newport, Faith Curtis of Newport, Molly Smith of Newport, Bud Prue and his companion, Courtney, of Waterville, Maine, Taylor Prue and his companion, Megan, of Biddeford, Maine, and Chandler Prue and his companion Angela of Newport. To make her joy more complete she was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Connor and Jack Mullen, Nicholas and Stella Wood, and Liam Curtis; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Peter Paul Major; her granddaughter Elizabeth Helen Smith; her sisters: Barbara Powers, and Helen Farrow; and her brothers: Buster, Harold and Butch Ashe.
A woman of faith and the heart of the Major family, Mrs. Major shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example, always willing to give of herself for others. She spent many hours praying for the unborn children, and for those who were suffering. Her pastimes included following politics and keeping up with her growing family.
To celebrate her life, the funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 23, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Newport.

Lena B. Patenaude
....show , 90, of Newport Center died on September 20, 2015, at the Bel-Aire Center in Newport.
She was born on December 22, 1924, in Augusta, Maine, the daughter of Arthur and Gertrude (Belle) Quintal.
In 1945, she married Leo Normandin who predeceased her in 1960. She later married Armand Patenaude in 1977, and he also predeceased her in 1983.
Ms. Patenaude enjoyed embroidery, cooking, and puzzles.
She is survived by a grandson Thomas Deslandes and his wife, Kelley, of Newport Center; a sister Gilberta Quintal of Newport; and dear friends Rachel Westover and her husband, Lary Bean, and Tammy and Victoria Westover, all of Newport Center.
She was predeceased by her daughter Beatrice Deslandes in 2002; her granddaughter Lisa Deslandes in 2001; and by a brother Louis Quintal.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Newport.

He was born on April 6, 1950, in Barton to Alden Blanchard and the late Alva (Spaulding) Blanchard.
He was employed by the Newport Daily Express, Northeast Kingdom Mental Health, and Metal Flex. He was interested in the history of Newport and surrounding areas.
He will be dearly missed by his dad who was always interested in his well-being.
He is survived by his father, Alden Blanchard; his wife, Marilyn, of Newport; his aunts and uncles; and several cousins.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Noamie N. Chaffee
....show , 73, of Irasburg died on September 10, 2015, at her home.
She was born on June 24, 1942, in Newport to Niles and Constance (Rushlow) Bean. She married James Chaffee, who predeceased her in 2006. Her hobbies included going shopping and playing games on her iPad.
She is survived by her children: Dawn Gaudette and her fiancé, Tim Centeno, of Irasburg, and Robert Chaffee and his wife, Wanda, of Hendersonville, North Carolina. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jonathan Chaffee, Bradley Chaffee and Ryan Centeno; her siblings: Sunny (Yolanda) Bean of North Troy, and Joyce Pray and her husband, Ronald, of Irasburg; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, at the Mountainview Cemetery in Lowell.
Robert Joseph
....show , 78, of Derby died suddenly at his home on September 9, 2015.
He was born January 6, 1937, to Lessel (Coutts) Joseph and George "Joe" Joseph.
He graduated from Derby Academy in 1955, and went into the Navy. He was a hardworking, generous and kind man who took care of his mother until she died. He worked for many years at Union Butterfield Tivoly in Derby Line, Agway in Newport, and 20 years at Ducharme Excavating in Derby Line. He was a workaholic who liked to keep busy, and who went until he just couldn't go any more.
He loved to help others and he loved his community. He enjoyed working in the woods year-round. He would ride on the groomer with Mike Judd in the winter and help in the sugarbush in the spring. He liked to help with haying in the summer months and he often talked about spending summers out on the Aldrich family farm growing up. He spent his last 18 years with his cousins, where he wanted to settle and retire.
His interests included classic and muscle cars, especially Chevys, and also Farmall tractors and old farm equipment. He owned two Monte Carlos and two old Farmalls, until recently. He liked to go to frequent car and tractor shows at the fairgrounds.
He is survived by his brother "Huz" Joseph of Newport; and his children: Susan Marie Mason, Brett Joseph, Hayley Joseph, Robyn Joseph Robar, and Gary Joseph; his sister-in-law Ruthy Joseph and her daughters: Cindy Joseph Shepardson and Jennifer Joseph Koslowsky; several grandnieces and -nephews; and three great-grandnephews. He is also survived by several cousins, close friends, and neighbors who loved him dearly and certainly thought of him as family. He was especially close with his cousins: Robert and Dean Aldrich, and Beatrice "Sis" (Aldrich) Nelson and her husband, Roger, Doug and Keith Gray, and Mike and Brad Judd.
Mr. Joseph was predeceased by his parents; a sister Patricia "Tisha" Joseph; his brother Alfred "Al" Joseph; his cousins: Bill and Jim Aldrich; and his best friend Dwight "Shine" Judd, with whom he spent several winters in Florida.
At his request, there will be no formal services. There will be a gathering for friends and family to reminisce about Mr. Joseph, which will be announced at a later date. Something will also be done in the spring at one of his favorite spots on the hill near the Aldrich and Judd family farms where he spent many of his childhood years.

Odila Del LaCasse

She was born on April 21, 1940, in Burlington, the daughter of the late Ovila and Juliette (Hebert) Quintin. She was married on October 12, 1973, to the love of her life, the late Freeman Bud LaCasse.
She loved to crochet, was an avid traveler, and lived in Alaska and Arkansas, always returning to her roots in Vermont. She loved baseball, especially the Cardinals, and loved to laugh and enjoy her family.
She is survived by one sister, Rosalie Paquette of Massachusetts; by one brother, Albert Quintin of Vermont; her in-laws and extended family, the LaCasse Family; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter Sandy Simpson; her husband; four brothers: Phil, Ernie, Paul and John Quintin; three sisters: Cora Martin, Alice Perrow and Laura Fleming.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, September 12, at St. Luke's Catholic Church. Interment followed in St. Luke's Cemetery in Fairfax.

Reginald Gordon Lacoss
....show , 79, of Irasburg, died on September 7, 2015, in Glover.
He was born on February 25, 1936, in Orleans to Archie and Katherine (Johnson) Lacoss.
On August 15, 1958, he married Shirley Simino, who predeceased him on July 20, 2011. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Lacoss was a machinist at Butterfields Union Twist Company in Derby Line, where he retired after 30 years of service.
The Lacosses sold Christmas trees for many years on the Orleans Road, and did income taxes for over 50 years. They loved their horses and their dog Tanner. Mr. Lacoss would go hunting when he was younger and he and his wife loved to dance, play golf, and attended all of his class reunions.
He is survived by his siblings: Michael Lacoss and his wife, Betty, of Westmore, Robin Lacoss and his wife, Claire Talbot, of Newport Center, Bonnie Chartier and her husband, Joe, of Orleans; his sister-in-law Merrilyn Lacoss; his brothers-in-law: Dale Simino and his wife, Shery, and Gary Simino; and by many nieces and nephews, as well as his wife's niece and nephew: Maxine and Harry Carbonneau, who spent many hours taking care of their horses and spending time with the Lacosses. He is also survived by special friends and neighbors: Steve and Tammy Jewett.
He was predeceased by his siblings: Rodney Lacoss, Betty Moquin and her husband, Francis, Phyllis Vallier and her husband, Conrad, and Judith Wilcox.

He was born on August 31, 1959, in Newport to Darrell and Phyllis Russell.
On September 1, 1984, he married Kim Nadeau, who survives him.
He worked for his brother as a mechanic for Russell Service in Orleans. He played baseball, softball and various sports. He was a member of the Newport Country Club for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Russell, of Derby; his children: Douglas Russell of Derby Line, and Tracy Russell of Derby; his mother, Phyllis Russell of Orleans; his grandchildren: Connor, Madison, and Parker Russell; his brother Kevin Russell and his wife, Anita, of Barton; his nephews: Tommy Russell of Colchester, and Tim Russell of Barton; his close cousin Pat Russell of Barton; and several aunts and uncles.

She was born on March 5, 1942, in Island Pond to Bernard Clifford Worth and Josephine Margaret (Ball) Worth.
She graduated from Brighton High School in Island Pond. On May 21, 1964, she married Peter Castonguay who predeceased her in 1993.
She was assistant town clerk in Island Pond for over 25 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 80 of Island Pond. She loved to travel, read, cook, and spend time at the cabin in Morgan. She enjoyed visiting with people and she never met a stranger.
She is survived by her children: Mark Castonguay and his wife, Robin, of Island Pond, and Catherine Hilliker and her husband, Todd, of Delaware; her grandchildren: Garrett Hilliker of Delaware, Kristen VanHekle and her husband, Dave, of Delaware, Shelby Castonguay, and Brandon Castonguay, both of Island Pond; her great-granddaughter Stella Grace VanHekle of Delaware; her long-time special companion Wendall Lacoss of Wallingford, Connecticut; her siblings: James Worth and Sheila of Island Pond, Gloria Gaboriault of Island Pond, and Gayle Perry of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was born on May 20, 1942, to Lucien and Clarice (Lafleur) Messier. On October 3, 1986, he married the former Marlene Carpenter who survives him.
He was a dairy farmer most of his life. He loved hunting, fishing, and helping others wherever needed. He also loved working the farm, tending to his vegetable and flower garden, and feeding the birds. Leo and Marlene loved going to the ocean in Plymouth, Massachusetts, dining on seafood dinners, especially lobster rolls.

Travis L. Stuart

He was born on April 15, 1974, in Newport, a son of Richard Stuart Jr. and Barbara (Sweeney) Stuart now of Glover.
Mr. Stuart was a carpenter and loved crafting cedar furniture as well as many different jobs. He loved his birds and his best friend Holly Dog.
He is survived by his son Anthony Stuart of Ferrisburg; a grandson Tanner Stuart of Ferrisburg; his parents; his companion Linda Major of Newport; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was predeceased by his brother Todd Stuart.

He was born on January 10, 1966, in Webster, Massachusetts, to Charlotte (Sargent) Vinal and the late Raymond Vinal.
He was employed for many years as a painter for Memphremagog Rentals in Newport. He was a very kind hearted man with a great wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed watching football, the Boston Red Sox, fishing, and he loved his two dogs Sheba and Molly.
He is survived by his daughter Desiree Vinal of Lyndonville; his grandson Ryker J. Vinal, of Lyndonville; his companion Tammy Teaster of Newport; his mother, Charlotte Vinal of Newport; his siblings: David Vinal and his wife, Pat, of Whitney Point, New York, Ricky Vinal of Newport, and Linda Bowen and her husband, Michael, of West Charleston; and his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
