Bruce A. Booth
....show , 76, of Barre, formerly of North Troy, died in Berlin on Friday, September 12, 2014.
He was born on December 17, 1937, in North Troy to Campbell and Freda Mae (Westover) Booth.
He went to school in North Troy and served in the U.S. Army. He was a Sergeant of Arms and a former member of the North Troy American Legion as well as a member of the Moose Club.
He worked at Indian Head Plywood and retired as a supervisor.
He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and traveling over the years.
He is survived by his sister, Edna Stuart, and her husband, Russell; his sister-in-law Dorothy Booth; and by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was also predeceased by his three brothers: William, Harold, and Robert.
A graveside service was held at the North Troy Village Cemetery on September 22.
Lisa DeBlois
....show , 53, of Coventry died on September 15, 2014, after having fought a courageous battle against an aggressive form of cancer.
She was the mother of three beautiful daughters.
Ms. DeBlois had a wicked sense of humor and her humor was contagious to all who knew and loved her. She loved to hunt. One of her most memorable hunts was on October 19, 2009, with her daughter Michelle, when they shot their first moose together on a friends property in northern Vermont. She was very grateful for that opportunity. She also enjoyed fishing for striper bass and camping at Salisbury Beach in Massachusetts, with her family.
She was employed by the state of Vermont as a business manager at Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport, for 11 years. She enjoyed her work and was very thankful for the wonderful friendships she formed there over the years.
She had the most amazing family and countless friends who stood by her and supported her daily throughout her illness.
She is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Stephanie and James of Ottawa, Ontario, Hilairy and Damon of Wheelock, and Michelle and Abby of Coventry. Her love for her three daughters was always foremost in her life.
A celebration of her life will be held at her residence, at 3064 Pine Hill Road in Coventry, on Saturday, September 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please bring a sense of humor and stories to share and please do not park on her lawn, at her request!

Maurice W. Eldred Jr.
....show , beloved grandfather of Randy and Tonya Langmaid of Lowell, died peacefully at the Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton on September 19, 2014.
He was born on January 19, 1927, one of eight children born to Maurice and Hersa Eldred of Belevidere. He often told stories of his happy childhood and of his close family.
He was stationed in Germany during the occupation as an MP, and he rode the trains to keep peace. While there, he met the love of his life, Lydia Gampe. They married on November 11, 1947, and remained so until her death in February of 1996.
They returned to the U.S. on Christmas Eve in 1948. After a brief time in Belevidere, they purchased a house in Lowell where they lived ever since.
Together they had three children: one son, Roland, and two daughters, Nanette and Leta Lydia H.
Mr. Eldred worked over 40 years at the asbestos mines in Lowell, for GAF, then Vermont Asbestos Group. He was a shareholder and on the board of directors. He was known for his hard work, opinions, and outspokenness for peoples rights, but he was famous for his hot temper!
He also was a member of the VFW and past member of the free Masons and a longtime member of the Lowell Congregational Church.
While he wife was alive, he enjoyed yard saling and traveling to Florida, Europe, Michigan and Old Orchard Beach in Maine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his great-grandsons, Ryan and Shane.
After his wifes death, Mr. Eldred spent a lot of time with his cows he and his grandson Randy were raising together.
Due to the fact that his grandchildren Randy and Tonya Langmaid lived close by, they were able to care for him up until and a year and half ago when his health got to the point that he had to stay at Maple Lane. He spent so much time with them at church and school functions that the children and adults called him Grandpa. He wanted everyone to know that he had a good, full life and was looking forward to being with his blessed wife who he missed every day.
He leaves behind a brother and several sisters; his children: Roland and his wife, Mary Lou, of Orlando, Florida, and their children: Roland, Rodney, and Tammy and their spouses and children; Nanette (Eldred) and her husband, David Symonds, and their children and spouses; and by his grandchildren: Tonya and Randy Langmaid and their children, and Sonya Elwood and her children and their spouses and children.
He was predeceased by one brother; two sisters; his precious wife, Lydia G. Eldred; his beloved daughter Leta Lydia H. Eldred; and by his two grandsons: Shane and Ryan Langmaid.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 29, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home at 37 Lake Road in Newport. Friends may call at the funeral home on September 29, from noon until the hour of the funeral. Interment will take place on Friday, October 3, at 2 p.m. at the Mountainview Cemetery in Lowell, with military honors.

Robert Earl Fairbrother

He was born on May 4, 1925, in Newport to Burns and Margery (LaFountain) Fairbrother.
In 1946, he married Mary Elizabeth (Blake), who predeceased him in 2011.
He entered the United States Navy and served his country during World War II.
He was an electronics engineer for United Technologies. He was an officer in the Border Amateur Radio Club in Newport and a lifetime amateur radio operator at W1PYO.
He enjoyed playing bridge, fishing, and he was interested in science fiction.
He is survived by his children: Douglas C. Fairbrother of Newport, Lisa Fairbrother of Newport, Pamela Veilleux and her husband, Denis, of Rutland, and Eileen C. Fairbrother; his grandchildren: Tristen and Jan Veilleux, both of Rutland; his brother Donald Fairbrother and his wife, Joan, of New Port Richey, Florida; and by his nieces and nephews: Barbara, David, Donald, Dennis and Gregory.
He was predeceased by his brother Walter.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, at the Newport Center Cemetery.

Suzanne F. Fell
....show , 83, of Fishkill, New York, and formerly of Barton, died on Sunday, September 21, 2014, at MidHudson Regional Hospital.
Born in Oradell, New Jersey, on June 25, 1931, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence (Prell) Keeney.
On March 31, 1951, in Oradell, she married Franklin Fell, who predeceased her on April 17, 2013.
Ms. Fell was a parishioner at St. Mary Mother of the Church in Fishkill, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Altar Guild.
She is survived by her children: William Fell and his wife, Lynn, of Winterville, North Carolina, Stephen Fell and his wife, Sue, of Pollocksville, North Carolina, Robert Fell and his wife, Liz, of Mahopac, New York, Michael Fell and wife, Marie, of Mission Viejo, California, Patricia Herring of Fishkill, and Frances Lay and her husband, Clive, of Colts Neck, New Jersey; her brother Joseph Keeney of Bergenfield, New Jersey; her sister Martha Pronovost of Westwood, New Jersey; her 11 grandchildren; and by her ten great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Joyce Fell.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home in Hopewell Junction, New York. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Mother of the Church in Fishkill.

Royden "Punk" A. Haskins
....show , 67, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at his home in Boscawen, New Hampshire.
He was born on August 5, 1947, in North Troy. He was raised in Newport before moving to New Hampshire.
He was a resident of Boscawen for about 30 years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Page Belt Company, where he worked as a machine operator.
His hobbies and interests included his cat, Midnight Special, horses, playing cards and buying lottery tickets, scratch tickets, and talking on the phone to special friends.
Members of his family include his sister Nancy (Haskins) Parris of Andover, New Hampshire; his bother Lawrence Haskins of Concord, New Hampshire; three stepsons and two stepdaughters; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Kenneth and mother Irene (Wheeler) Haskins; two brothers and his sister; and by his wife, Mary (Hill) Haskins, in 2007.

Linda J. Kelley

She was born on May 14, 1947, in Malone, New York, to Lawrence and Nancy (Jones) Andrews.
She was a cashier at Jolly Association in Derby.
Her hobbies included crocheting and knitting, much to the delight of her family. She also enjoyed camping in her camper with her longtime companion.
She will be greatly missed by all her family and her cat, Missy Muffett.
She is survived by children: Amy Kelley and her companion, Cable Pennington, Anne Dubois and her husband, Raymond, Terry Kelley, and Tim Kelley and his wife, Laura; her grandchildren: Jennifer, Nancy, Shannon, Nicole, Tamera, Jamie, Ryan, Tucker, Hunter, and Skyler; three step-grandchildren; her great-grandchildren: Christian, Guiliana, Skiler, Whyatt, Addyson, and Silas; five step-great-grandchildren; her sister Patty Gore of West Virginia; her longtime companion, Paul Fortin; and by several nieces and nephews.

Harold J. Lyster
....show , 79, of Derby died peacefully on September 20, 2014, in Newport.
He was born on July 10, 1935, in Fargo, North Dakota, to James and Margaret (McNamee) Lyster.
Known as Hal to his family and friends, he spent a number of years in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, where he worked and retired as postmaster of the U.S. Postal Service.
He previously served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Susan (Berry) Lyster, whom he married on November 7, 1980. After retiring to Vermont, they traveled and enjoyed family gatherings at their home.
Mr. Lyster was a former volunteer EMT for the fire department in Suffield, Connecticut. He enjoyed volunteering at North Country Hospital in Newport, the Newport Welcome Center, and he was an area coordinator for the AARP Tax Preparation Program. He helped establish the Newport-Stanstead area OSHER lecture series.
He is also survived by his daughter Laura Lyster-Mensh and husband, Mark; his son Erik Lyster and his wife, Megan; his son Ryan Lyster and his wife, Stacey; his son Alan Lyster and his wife, Michelle; his six grandchildren: Shelly Kelley, Lianna Mensh, Carlie Lyster, Daniel Mensh, Samantha Lyster, and Nathan Lyster; great-grandchildren Courtney and Isaiah Kelley, and Gabriel and Benjamin Kelley ; his sisters: Jeanette Love and Marcy Cowen; and by several nieces and nephews.
The family will hold private services.

Elizabeth Gray Applebee

She was born to Ora and Eliza (Moore) Cargill in Morgan on November 6, 1918.
She held several different job positions including being a housemother at Champlain College Whiting Hall in the 1980s, a nurses aide at the Orleans County Memorial Hospital, and she also worked at both of the Morgan post offices.
She enjoyed traveling and visiting her family.
In 1936, she married Martin Gray, who predeceased her in 1981.
In 1989, she married Riley Applebee, who predeceased her in 2008.
She is survived by her children: David and Jackie Gray, Brenda Jenks and her companion, Rod Blair, and Brian and his wife, Marilyn Gray; her eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and by several nieces, nephews and stepchildren.
She was predeceased by her children: James and Jane Gray; a brother, Delmar, and his wife, Marion Cargill; and by her sisters: Doris Morse and Wealthy Cargill.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20, at 11 a.m. at the Morgan United Church, with Reverend John Genco officiating. Friends may call at the church on September 20, from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral. Interment will follow at the Morgan Beach Cemetery.

Everett L. "Bud" Carter

He was born in Tenafly, New Jersey, on October 12, 1920, to Everett P. Duke and Franke Carter.
He was a lifelong New York Giants football fan and a World War II veteran. During the war, he served in Libya and Italy for more than three years as a mine-disposal specialist with the 835th Combat Engineers.
In the 1970s, he moved to Vermont and began a career as a real estate appraiser, working throughout the state.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Margaret; his children: Victoria, and John and his wife, Sherrie; his grandchildren: Christina, Peter and Rachel; and by his great-grandson, Kaleb.
He was predeceased by his sisters: Virginia, Marion, and Eleanor; and by his wife, Jule Handwerg Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 19, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Lowell, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Westfield Cemetery.

Geraldine Mae Wilcox Hunt

She was born in Newport on October 26, 1919, to Gertrude Spear Wilcox and Thaddeus Wilcox.
Deanie, as her parents called her, graduated Valedictorian from Newport High School in 1937 and received a degree in commerce and economics from the University of Vermont (UVM) in 1941, and also a Masters of Education from UVM in 1968.
She was executive secretary to the state commissioner of health in Burlington for seven years before moving back to Newport. During World War II, she enjoyed being a USO girl and corresponded with many soldiers around the world.
In 1947, she married Kenneth Hunt, who predeceased her in 1976. She was also predeceased by her brother, Grenville Wilcox.
She worked for the Public Health Department in Newport and then in 1961 began teaching business subjects first at Brighton Academy, and then at North Country Union High School, retiring in 1988.
Gerrie, the name by which she became known after moving back to Newport, was involved in many aspects of the community. She was secretary of the Newport Womens Club for many years and a member of the United Church of Newport. She was also on the board of directors for the North Country Concert Association, the board of directors for the Northeast Schools and Hospital Credit Union, treasurer for the Newport Country Club ladies league, a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Orleans-Northern Essex Retired Teachers Association, a volunteer at the hospital, as well as a member of the North Country Hospital Auxiliary, and a North Country Swinger. She was a member of Community Circle and loved traveling to see the world.
She enjoyed square dancing, round dancing, golf, crafts, and collecting dolls from her travels. She played with the gourmet bridge club and was an avid reader.
In 1964, she bought a camp on Lake Memphremagog, which was her joy. It became her full-time home in 2004 and she could be seen playing her electronic bridge, doing crossword puzzles, and reading by the water if she was not watching a Red Sox or college basketball game.
She always had at least one cat as a companion, spoiling it unmercifully.
In 1982 and 1983, her grandsons Bud and Evan were born and she immediately became an integral part of their lives, babysitting, attending their school functions, watching their sports events, playing games and cards together, and traveling with them. In 2004, her lakefront home also became home for her daughter, Pat, as well as Bud and Evan.
She is survived by Pat Vana, George Bud Vana IV and his girlfriend, Bethany Halliday, and Evan Vana and his fiancée, Andrea Patrikis; as well as by her cats Chessie, Marley, and KC.
Funeral services were held on September 15, in Newport. Interment followed in Pine Grove Cemetery in Newport.

Douglas Ira Kroeger

He was born on March 25, 1980, in Lincoln, Maine, to Gayle (King) Kroeger and the late Richard D. Kroeger Jr.
He graduated from the Penobscot Valley High School in Howland, Maine.
He was a commercial construction worker and he also built and painted custom homes.
He enjoyed playing cards, kayaking, snowboarding, and other outdoor activities. He was an outgoing and free spirited individual who enjoyed his family and especially his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his mother, Gayle Kroeger, of Craftsbury Common; his siblings: Benjamin Kroeger and his wife, Marie, of Craftsbury Common, Andrew Kroeger and his wife, Sarah, of Greensboro Bend, Annemarie Wakefield and her husband, Richard, of Statesboro, Georgia, Ruth Kroeger of Herdon, Virginia, Anita Niles and her husband, John, of Oakland, Maine, and Karen Kroeger of Craftsbury Common; his nieces and nephews: Lauren, Katelyn, Nathan, Kayla, Keagan, Kylee, Kaleb, Kendrick, Cameron, Elizabeth and Liam; and by several aunts and uncles.
He was predeceased by his father, Richard D. Kroeger Jr., in 2002.
Funeral services were held on September 13, in East Craftsbury. Interment followed in Craftsbury Common Cemetery.

She was born on September 23, 1915, in Garfield, New Jersey, to Joseph and Grace (Stiles) Torrey, and lived most of her life in Waldwick, New Jersey.
In later years, she resided with her daughters in Georgetown, Kentucky, and most recently in Morgan.
On September 24, 1949, she married Arthur W. Lockwood, who predeceased her.
During World War II, she served with the Red Cross in Hawaii, and afterward worked at the Radio Division of the United Nations.
She will be remembered for her intelligence and her sense of humor. She often commented, Im 98 years old but I dont look a day over 93.
She is survived by her three daughters to whom she was a dedicated mother: Dr. Frances Lockwood and her husband, Dr. Kenneth Partymiller, of Georgetown, Kentucky, Marcy Lockwood Peterman and her husband, Richard, of Naples, Florida, and Elaine G. Lockwood and her husband, Gerry Hunt, of Morgan; her four grandchildren: Andrew Peterman, Matthew Partymiller, Kyla Grace Lockwood Brooks, and Eliot Lockwood Brooks; two great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Ann Pope, of Ramsey, New Jersey; and by many nieces and nephews.

Lee M. Nelson
....show , 78, of Ipswich, Massachusetts, died peacefully on September 12, 2014.
She was the wife of William T. Bill Nelson.
She was born in New York City, the daughter of Ruth H. Seavey and Robert McDonald Simpson.
She was raised in Garden City, Long Island, and summered in Rye Beach, New Hampshire. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1958 from the business school, one of the only women in her class. Longtime Wenham, Massachusetts, residents, they moved to Ipswich in retirement.
She was a member of First Church in Wenham for 40 years, managed the Wenham Exchange Gift Shop for the Wenham Village Improvement Society, and she volunteered at the Wenham Museum and the Ipswich Museum.
She was an organic gardener, photographer, and she loved clamming and lobstering. She was an avid worldwide traveler and explorer.
In addition to her husband, Bill, she is survived by two daughters: Cathleen T. Wardley and her husband, Frank, of Ipswich, and Drew R. Nelson of Marblehead, Massachusetts; two granddaughters: Elizabeth and Margaret Wardley of Ipswich; and by several nieces and nephews.
The Nelson family has summered in the Barton area for many years.
The funeral and celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, at First Church in Wenham. Family and friends are welcome.

He was born on January 22, 1943, in San Francisco, California, to the marriage of Harry Francis and Isabella Anello Stryker Jr.
He was raised and schooled in San Francisco, graduating with the Balboa High School Class of 1960.
He was an executive manager, owner and entrepreneur of many business ventures.
His many hobbies included photography, gun collecting, hunting, cars, and watching John Wayne movies. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Douglas V. Aronson
....show , "The Ole Troll," died peacefully at home in Woodbury on Friday, September 5, 2014.
Born January 23, 1935, to Harry and Iris Aronson in Hartford, Connecticut, he was one of four children.
Mr. Aronson attended public schools during early childhood in Hartford. With the onset of World War II, he was moved to Woodbury, to live with his grandparents and help work their family farm. At this time, he attended Woodbury Graded School. After WWII, he moved back to Hartford and finished high school. His love of the land and animals led him to continue his education at Vermont Technical College in Randolph, and then to Howell Cheney Technical College in Manchester, Connecticut, where he earned his AS in animal husbandry.
On July 7, 1974, he married Sandra (Trefren) Aronson in East Montpelier. They blended their families to raise a family of nine before having a child together. In 1975, after running a family dairy farm in Berlin, Mr. and Mrs. Aronson bought the Woodbury Country Store and moved to Woodbury. For years, the Woodbury Country Store thrived and diversified as an authentic general store by selling bait and tackle, and having a snack bar and deli. Customers fast became friends, as the store was a hub for the town. Mr. Aronsons love of hunting, fishing, boating, and snowmobiling was obvious to those who patronized the store. His fishing tips and advice soon turned into a radio show on WDEV known as the The Ole Troll.
Mr. Aronson went on to do various jobs including as a meat cutter for Grand Union and in retirement he became a part-time delivery driver for Bond Auto Parts, Inc. Over the years, he served the town of Woodbury, in various capacities including serving on the volunteer fire department and as a justice of the peace. He helped organize the childrens Christmas and Halloween parties, and he worked tirelessly on the town skating rink. He was proud to be a Mason and enjoyed the camaraderie of his brothers.
Those close to Mr. Aronson never knew when they would be on the other end of one of his fun-loving pranks as he loved to laugh, tell stories, pick on people he liked, party, and talk about his large family. He had a huge heart and would help anyone he could he always found the good in someone no matter who they were.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Sandi Aronson of Woodbury; his sons and daughters-in-law: Doug and Maria Aronson of Mt. Hood, Oregon, Carl and Marina Aronson and Scott and Tammy Aronson of Randolph; his daughters: Tammy Aronson of North Fort Myers, Florida, Karen Lilley of Berlin, Kim Aronson of Wilmington, and Ann and her husband, Mike Cookson, of Cabot; his stepchildren: Marilyn Ready of Bristol, Connecticut, Carlos Gomez of Kingman, Arizona, and Diana Lisevick of Bridgeport, Connecticut; and by his 25 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Also surviving are two sisters: Dawna Stewart of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Althea Aronson of Woodbury.
He was predeceased by a brother, Clarence Cal Aronson.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Woodbury Methodist Church in the center of Woodbury Village 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, followed immediately by a graveside service at the South Woodbury Cemetery.

Maxine M. Kelley
....show , 91, of Brownington died peacefully on August 25, 2014, at her daughters home in Brownington.
She was born on August 15, 1923, in Barton, to Perley and Arline (Burdette) Ingalls.
On July 29, 1941, she married Elwin Kelley Sr., who predeceased her.
She was a clipper for Columbia Forest Products, from where she retired after 18 years of service.
She liked to dance, especially the Charleston. She also enjoyed playing darts, going for rides, and going out to eat. She spent many hours crocheting, as the family each received many of her works. She was an avid reader and was always very independent and lived next door to her daughter, Brenda, which enabled her to do so. She was a very big part of her family.
She always enjoyed her many cats and dogs over the years.
She is survived by her children: Brenda Simons and her husband, Earl, of Brownington, Dorine Lombarto of Florida, Wayne Kelley and his wife, Linda, of Quebec, and Dean Kelley and his wife, Pauline, of Alabama; her grandchildren: Kim and Tom Thompson, Terri and Jeff LaClair, Lynn Farrand, Kenni Ann and Joe Hawkesworth, Elwin and Shelley Kelley, Bobbie-Jo and Paul Beauregard, Lisa and Jeff Lanoue, Scott and Shelley Kelley, Chad Kelley, Kelly, Phillip, Sherry, Christine, Robin, Carmen, Tonya, Tammy, Christie, and Skylar; her great-grandchildren: Cassidy, Natalie, Dillon, Perry, William, Ethan, Sheyanne Thompson, Tom Thompson, Dustin, Alex, Caleb, Matthew and Derrick; her great-great-grandchildren: Jessie and Savanna Thompson, Aiden Farrand, Mikalya Farrand, and Kaya Moore; and by her sister, Marcella Dow and her husband, Dick, of Florida.
She was predeceased by her son, Elwin Kelley Jr., in 2008; her special grandson, Josh Simons, in 2011; and by five brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held on August 30, in Brownington. Interment followed at the Derby Line Cemetery.

He was born on October 12, 1951, in Yonkers, New York, to Charles and Marguerite (Farese) Leck.
He was a cook for the North Troy Inn.
During his lifetime, he enjoyed doing woodworking.
He is survived by his mother, Marguerite Savio of North Billerica, Massachusetts; and by seven brothers and sisters: Philip, Richard, Charles, Kathy, Deborah, Elizabeth, and Karen.
He was predeceased by his father, Charles Leck, and by his brother, Michael.
A graveside service was held on August 30, at the Notre Dame Cemetery in North Troy.

Ardis A. Sykes

She was born on June 16, 1929, in Newport Center, to Eben and Carrie (Norris) Wilcox.
On April 4, 1949, she married Raymond Sykes, who survives her.
She was a helpmate to her husband on their dairy farm in Morgan for many years.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and helping her husband with the farm work.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Sykes of Newport; her children: Richard Sykes and his wife, Helene, of Newport, Kenneth Sykes and his wife, Denise, of Morgan, Randy Sykes and his wife, Sharon, of Derby Line, and Gary Sykes and his wife, Christine, of Norton; and by her 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Merna Ashman of Island Pond; and by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two infant sons; four brothers: Marshall, Wendall, Basil and Kenneth; and by two sisters: Shirley and Audrey.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, September 12, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, at 4670 Darling Hill Road in Newport, with the Reverend Richard Whitehill officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on September 12, from noon until the hour of the funeral. Interment will follow in Newport Center Cemetery.

Myrth E. Janes

She was born on June 10, 1927, in Fairfield, to John and Grace (Lemnah) Morgan.
On September 1, 1978, she married Ralph J. Janes, who predeceased her in 2005.
She graduated from Montpelier High School in the Class of 1944. She was an analyst for Digital Corporation in Williston for several years.
Her hobbies included crocheting afghans and donating them to the Winston Salem Hospital in North Carolina. She also enjoyed reading and sewing. Her major passion was her family and to go shopping with her sister, Myrle.
She is survived by her children: Richard Douse and his wife, Abelina De La Rosa, of Barton, Rachel Douse of Milton, Jacqueline Douse of Milton, and David Douse and his wife, Gladys, of King, North Carolina; her seven grandchildren; her 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Myrle Sylva of St. Albans; and by her special friend, Bill Torrisi of Barton.
She was predeceased by her siblings: Boyd, Wade, Bruce, Phyllis, Faith, and June.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Andrew Sumner March
....show , 90, Vermonter, Cape Codder, and retired corporate executive died on August 24, 2014, in Newport.
He was the husband of Elizabeth L. (Savage) March of Newport, progeny of Sandwich, Cape Cod founders Elizabeth and Edmund Freeman and cousin of early American patriot James Otis.
Mr. March graduated president of his high school class in Newmarket, New Hampshire, in 1943. A World War II U.S. Army aviation cadet, he served in the Mediterranean Training Theater of Operations, earning three battle stars.
He is a life member of Alfred Pepin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #798 in Newport.
Mr. March graduated from Mount Union College in 1950. His career identities culminated in international assignments at Curtiss-Wright Corporation where he had technical responsibility for subsidiary plants in the Eastern United States and Canada.
He may be remembered as deacon at the Union Congregational Church in Upper Montclair, New Jersey, elder at First Church of Christ in Simsbury, Connecticut, and parish visitor at First Church of Christ in Sandwich, Massachusetts.
He leaves, in addition to his beloved wife Elizabeth, his son, Andrew II of Ridgefield, Connecticut; his daughter, Susan Pelcher of Newport; his son, Douglas March in Warwick, Rhode Island; and his grandchildren: Lindsay March-DaCosta, Whitney March and Corey Pelcher.
A graveside ceremony was held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Newport on August 28.
Thomas J. Morse
....show of Underhill died on August 16, 2014, at his home in Underhill.
He was born in Island Pond on March 2, 1937. He graduated Salutatorian of his class in 1954 from St. Marys Academy in Island Pond. In 1954, he joined the Air Force and served for four years in Savannah, Georgia.
In 1958, he was hired by General Electric as an armament technician and continued to work with all branches of the military, traveling worldwide installing new weapon systems. He actually had Have Guns Will Travel business cards. He is best known for his installation of weapons in the first gun ship, Puff the Magic Dragon, in Vietnam. Six months later, he was present at Wright Air Force Base, where 24 new gun ships and crews took their last training flight before going to Vietnam. Mr. Morse actually spent time with a Navy Seal floating in the Atlantic Ocean, when during bad weather they were thrown off their gunboat.
In 1961, he married Betty Anne Kane and they had one son, Matthew Thomas Morse. Mr. Morse was a native of Vermont, and established Green Mountain Foam Products (GMFP) in 1967, which for nearly 50 years acted as a resource center in Underhill for the upholstery, slip cover, drapery, automotive, and marine businesses. GMFP helped hundreds of people establish their own businesses by supplying all of the necessities.
He leaves his son; his grandson, Sammy; his brother, Carroll and his wife, Pat; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held in Underhill Center on August 20, followed by burial in the Park Street Cemetery in Underhill.

Marcelle L. Viens
....show , 97, of Burlington died peacefully on August 16, 2014, at the Burlington Health and Rehab Center.
She was born on December 1, 1916, in Morgan, to Alfred and Paula (Marois) Viens.
She worked for the B.F. Goodrich Company in Massachusetts for nearly 30 years and for the State Street Bank in Boston, Massachusetts.
She was a devout Catholic and had been an active member of the St. John the Baptist Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She enjoyed helping elderly people with their errands when she was still able. Going for car rides gave her much enjoyment. She liked coming back to Vermont for visits with family and finally moved to the Burlington area for her final years. Burlington Health and Rehab gave her several years of total happiness, doing many things she had never been able to do.
She is survived by Tillie Fugere, her first cousin; her nieces and nephews: Paul, Claire and Helene Rodrigues of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Pauline Robert and Howard Viens, Joanne Hornung, and Leonard Viens; and her second cousin, Louise Mathews, who had been her caretaker for several years.
She was predeceased by her brothers: Joseph and Leonard Viens; and by her sisters: Martha Rodrigues and Pauline Viens.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Newport, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery in Newport.
