Joyce Marion Aldrich
....show , 71, of Derby died on April 30, 2014, at her home, with her family by her side.
She was born on January 20, 1943, in Stanstead, Quebec, to James and Beatrice (Kenneson) French.
On November 6, 1964, she married James Aldrich of Derby and moved with him to the family farm. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and homemaker and worked side by side with Jim in the family business.
She was one of Jehovahs Witnesses and it was an important part of her life. She enjoyed being active in the ministry, teaching people about the Bible and the positive message it contains. She had several hobbies, including sewing, cooking, painting, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, James, of Derby; her daughter Leah and son-in-law Charlie Heath of Newport; and by special friends: Cindy Turner, Garri Favreau, Nancy Poston, and Chesley Stone.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Beatrice French of Rock Island, Quebec; and by her sister Joan Perrault of Ottawa, Ontario.
A celebration of her life was held on May 10, in Derby.

David Thomas Barrett
....show , 83, of Sherburne, New York, died on Friday, May 2, 2014, at the New York State Veterans Homes in Oxford, New York.
He was born on February 11, 1931, in Syracuse, a son of Mary Barrett.
He was a graduate of Sherburne High School in 1949.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in July of 1950, serving with the First Shoran Beacon Unit in Korea, and he was honorably discharged in February of 1952.
On April 16, 1955, he married Agnes Teresa Blaszczyk at St. Malachys Church in Sherburne.
He worked for Proctor & Gamble in Norwich, New York, and was a postal clerk at the Sherburne Post Office until his retirement. He had previously worked for the Utica Knitting Mill, T.A.C.O. and the Ontario and Western Railroad.
He was a communicant of St. Malachys Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post #876 of Sherburne.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Agnes; his daughter Denise L. Foster of Sheffield; two grandchildren: Teresa Foster-Jones of Norwich, New York, and Jason Foster of Beaufort, North Carolina; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on May 7, in Sherburne. Interment with military honors followed in St. Malachys Cemetery in Sherburne.

Herbert L. Blake
....show , 90, of Newport died peacefully on May 10, 2014, in Barton.
He was born on January 11, 1924, in Newport, to Raymond and Julia (Leavens) Blake.
On December 24, 1966, he married Lorraine Gray, who survives him.
Mr. Blake was a veteran of World War II.
He was employed by Yankee Milk Co. in Troy for several years.
He loved his horses and attending horse shows and raising laying hens.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #21 of Newport and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #798, both of Newport.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine Blake of Newport; his children: Linda Hahn and her husband, Raymond, of Wallingford, Connecticut, Donna Laplume and her partner, Joe Desrochers, of Newport Center, Robert Blake of Florida, and Lisa Desroches and her husband, Alan, of Coventry; his stepchildren: Harold Gage and his wife, Jocelyne, of Derby, and Larry Gage and his wife, Pauline, of Newport; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and by his sisters: Mary Jean Pierce and her husband, Ken, of Newport, and Hazel Fontaine of Newport.
He was predeceased by his brother Charlie Blake; his sisters: Marion Kerr and Lucille Lague; and by his stepdaughter Rosalyn Cook.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., on Sunday, May 18, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, at 4670 Darling Hill Road in Newport, with the Reverend Norm Brown officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on May 18, from 2 p.m. until the hour of the funeral. Interment will follow in West Charleston Cemetery, with full military honors.

Raymond H. Collins Jr.

He was born on November 22, 1938, in Lebanon, New Hampshire, to Raymond and Emma (Besaw) Collins Sr.
Mr. Collins was a machinist at Tivoly in Derby Line, where he retired after 35 years of service.
He enjoyed playing cards, playing bingo, telling jokes, hunting, fishing and camping. His favorite dog, Snoopy, died a couple of years ago but he recently had his dog, Bear.
He is survived by his beloved wife Birdena Collins of Brownington; his children: Mark Collins of Newport, Douglas Collins Sr. and his wife, Gloria, of Brownington, and Lori Collins and her fiancé, Roger Calloway Jr., of Derby; his grandchildren: Reginald Collins Jr., Travis Collins, Dereck Collins, Tonya Calloway, Doug Collins Jr., Amanda Collins, Jacob Calloway, Dakota Calloway, and Kevin Collins; his great-grandchildren: Olivia Collins, Iziah Allen and Ayriel Allen; his sister Beverly Armstrong of Florida; his daughter-in-law Debbie Collins of Newport; several nieces and nephews who would stop by and play cards with him; and by his special friend, George Greenwood of Brownington.
He was predeceased by his son Reginald Collins Sr.; his brothers: Wayne and Bruce Collins; and by his sister Marion.
A celebration of his life and potluck will be held at noon on Saturday, May 17, at his residence, at 3212 Willoughby Lake Road in Brownington.

Patricia Ann Hislop
....show , 71, of Morrisville died peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2014, at Copley Hospital in Morrisville, with her loving family at her bedside.
She was born on May 15, 1942, in Lowell, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Howard and Ruth (Coolbeth) Salls. She attended Greensboro public schools.
On November 5, 1960, she married Donald Willey Hislop in Greensboro.
In her earlier years, she stayed at home to care for her young children. She later was employed for many years as a seamstress and inspector at Concord Manufacturing and until she retired she worked for Vermont Fleece, both in Morrisville.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Greensboro, the Lamoille Grange #233, and the Morrisville Swingers Square Dancing Group.
She loved family gatherings and shared a love for auto racing with many friends and family. She loved camping, traveling, horses and family. She was a sincere and kind-hearted woman, full of life and love, and feisty by nature!
Survivors include her loving husband, Donald of Morrisville; a sister, Jennie Allen, of Rock Hill, South Carolina; one son, Daniel Hislop, and his wife, Lorilee, of Greensboro Bend; three daughters: Debora Cote and her husband, Brian, of Morrisville, Gwen Hislop of Morrisville, and Donna Hislop of Richford; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Edward Salls, in 1997.

Robert James Pasho
....show , 78, of Derby died on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 21, 1936, to Marie (Longe) and Marce Peter Pasho, in Burlington, where he lived, attended schools and married Eunice Harper on October 14, 1957.
Mr. Pasho was a jack-of-all-trades, but his main passion was capturing the beauty of the Northeast Kingdom on paper, canvas and wood, using oils, acrylics, watercolors and pottery.
As a lifelong resident of Vermont, he never found another place that filled him with so much love and peace. It was his hope, that in some small way, he could help others take a second look at life around us and enjoy what we see, and know how wonderful nature really is.
He is survived by his wife of 56 and a half years, Eunice; three daughters: Joan White and her husband, Robert, of Underhill, Robyn and Tom LeFebvre of Milton, and Eloise Pasho of Huntington; six grandchildren: Chris, Sarah, Liza, Ryan, Corey and Kristy; one sister, Dorothy Cross, of Huntington; many nieces and nephews; and by many close and very special friends.
He was predeceased by his only son, Robert James Pasho II; his parents; his sisters: June Barron, Lorraine and Nancy Lee Pasho; one brother, William Pasho; and by many extended family members and friends.
Roderick Charles Phillips
....show , 78, died peacefully in Tucson, Arizona, on January 12, 2014.
He was born on December 24, 1935, in Irasburg, to Clare and Barbara (Lanou) Phillips.
He went to Irasburg Graded School, graduated from Orleans High School in 1953, and attended Saint Johnsbury Trade School.
In 1955, he enlisted in the Air Division of the Navy and was stationed in Alameda, California, while spending time overseas patrolling the seas of Japan.
He married Marlene Skeet Lafoe in 1956. After 47 years of marriage, she predeceased him in 2003.
In 1959, he returned to Vermont, and he purchased the Gulf Service Station in Barton, where he and his wife made their home. They ran the business for 17 years which provided towing, snowplowing, and auto mechanic services. They sold the business in 1977 and he went to work for Barton Motors, where he was employed for 20 years. After retiring, he continued to keep busy by delivering parts for Sanel in the Northeast Kingdom in the summer, selling pumpkins, Christmas trees, and fireworks in West Palm Beach, Florida, and then traveling west meeting up with fellow snowbirds in Arizona.
He traveled to every state with his fifth wheel camper, except Hawaii. All across America he made friends with all he met as he truly enjoyed people and loved to share his stories through his unique style and one could count on him to voice his opinion. In his spare time, he enjoyed snowmobiling, entertaining at camp, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
He supported his community and belonged to the Barton Fire Department, the Orleans Legion Post #23, and the Orleans Lions Club, through which he received the Melvin Jones Fellow award.
Survivors include his daughter Martha Perron and her husband, David; his son Michael; his grandchildren: Phillip Perron and his wife, Laura, Elizabeth Perron and her fiancé, Bruce Thomas, Roy Phillips and his wife, Annie, and Courtney Phillips and her partner, Ryan Ovitt; his great-grandchildren: Willow, Ember, Colby, Claire, George, Jillian and Natalie; and his nephew Bradley Chase and his special lady friend, Mary Anne Lisk.
He was predeceased by infant sons, Mark and Carl; his parents, Clare and Barbara; his wife, Marlene Skeet; and by his sister Rolinda (Dinny) Chase.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, May 21, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, at 12 Elm Street in Barton, with the Reverend Donald Vincent officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on May 21, from 11 a.m. until the hour of the funeral. He will be laid to rest where he began his life, in Irasburg, with full military honors.
Sister Solange Poutré
....show , of Daughters of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Sister Marie-Germain), died on May 7, 2014, at Mount Sacred Heart Provincial House Convent in Littleton, New Hampshire, after several months illness, at the age of 85.
Ms. Poutré was born on November 25, 1929, in Troy. She was the daughter of Alcide Poutré and Almida Choquette.
She professed her vows with her religious congregation on August 1, 1948. During her 66 years of religious profession, she served in various missions in Newport, Burlington, St. Johnsbury, and Lyndonville in Vermont; Champlain and Rochester in New York; Portland, Maine; and Colebrook, Whitefield, and Littleton in New Hampshire.
She was a dedicated educator in schools and religious education resource centers for many years, turning to the nursing profession in 1980, and more recently as a volunteer for charitable organizations, and she worked in hospitality for groups seeking to make spiritual retreats or to meet for planning their benevolent organizations activities.
In July of 2013, due to her health, she joined her sisters at Mount Sacred Heart in Littleton. She was known for her spirit of generosity and diligent work ethic, and would enthusiastically support worthy causes. Her ready sympathy and sense of compassion made her a good advocate when someone needed practical help for surmounting their difficult personal or family circumstances.
She is survived by three brothers and one sister: Fabian and Beverly of Newport, Jean-Guy and Marielle of Plattsburgh, New York, Rejeanne and Paul McGee of Point Claire, Quebec, and Denis and Judy of Venice, Florida; many nieces and nephews; and by her sisters in the religious community.
She was predeceased by her parents and several relatives, including six sisters and brothers: Réal, Fernand, Sister Carmelle, Hermance, Gervais, and Germain.

Funeral services were held on May 12, in Newport. Interment followed in St. Marys Cemetery in Newport.
Susan F. Sarracco

She was born on June 21, 1939, in Newport, to Harold and Evangeline (Foster) Lewis.
On September 5, 1959, she married Lewis Sarracco, who survives her.
She enjoyed going to yard sales, playing golf, and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and going for walks. She loved animals, especially her two cats, shopping with her granddaughter, and attending her grandsons hockey games and her great-granddaughters basketball games.
She is survived by her children: Donna Blais and her husband, Jim, of Newport, and Lewis Butch Sarracco and his wife, Teri, of Northfield; her grandchildren: Shanna Pinheiro and her husband, Paul, of New Hampshire, and Shaun Sarracco and Jordan Sarracco, both of Northfield; her great-grandchildren: Haidyn Pinheiro and Milel Pinheiro; her brother Mickey Lewis and his wife, Mona, of Newport; her sister Jeralyn Wolcott of Franklin, West Virginia; four step-sisters: Rita Fortin of Newport, Jeanne Bates of Florida, Annette Bliss of Rutland, and Terry Lesperance of New Hampshire; and by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister Cecile Lower; and by her brother-in-law Bill Wolcott.
Calling hours were held on May 8, in Newport. Interment will follow at the convenience of the family.

She was born on January 13, 1934, in Berlin, New Hampshire, to Omer and Ruth (Hobbs) Lurvey.
On October 25, 1952, she married Elmer Webb, who predeceased her.
Mrs. Webb was tax collector for the town of Brighton.
She enjoyed maintaining her property and mowing the lawn. She loved flower gardening, playing the piano, bird watching, traveling throughout Vermont and making arts and crafts. She was also an avid reader.
She is survived by her children: Sharon Patenaude and her husband, Rene, of Newport Center, Susan Webb of Island Pond, James Webb of Island Pond, and Sandy Frizzell and her husband, Marty, of Island Pond; her grandchildren: Shawn and Jason Patenaude, Celine Cote, Jimmy and Ashley Webb, and Brittany and Fraser Frizzell; her great-grandchildren: Dawson and Jordan Cote, Mya Patenaude, Elijah Patenaude, and Tyler Webb; her sisters-in-law: Shirley Dunn of North Troy, and Laura Morrissette of Johnson; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She loved her dog, Newt.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Wayne and Wendell Lurvey.

She was born on February 14, 1923, in Concord, to Will and Jennie (Williams) Dodge.
She married Ralph A. Wheeler Sr., who predeceased her in 1970.
Mrs. Beliveau attended high school in Concord. She was a cook at Lyndon Institute and also operated a dress store in Lyndonville. She was also a clerk at the May Store in Lyndonville at one time.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart League in Troy, and at one time a member of the Methodist Church in Lyndonville.
She later married Roger L. Beliveau on January 1, 1972. He predeceased her in 1998.
She is survived by her sons: Warren Wheeler of Southington, Connecticut, and Arthur Wheeler of Bristol; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews: Roland Beliveau and his wife, Judy, of Hyde Park, Monique Lafley and her husband, Douglas, of Morrisville, Andre Beliveau and his wife, Debra, of Wappingers Falls, New York, John Beliveau and his wife, Marie, of Westfield, Reginald Beliveau and his wife, Rita, of Swanton, Denise Bergeron and her husband, Kenneth, of Derby, Aline Breton and her husband, Dennis, of Gilford, New Hampshire, Alain Beliveau and his wife, Dorothy, of Clifton Park, New York, Anita Prouty and her husband, Peter, of Swanton, Paul Beliveau and his wife, Amanda, of Milton, Paulette Jones and her husband, Brian, of Hyde Park, Diane Ash of Bath, New Hampshire, Leonard Bowen of Derby, and Shirley Clark of North Carolina, and by many, many more. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Germaine Beliveau of Morrisville.

Harriet "Hat" Champlin
....show , 89, of Albany died peacefully at home on Thursday, May 1, 2014.
Mrs. Champlin was born in Lyme, Connecticut, on April 7, 1925, a daughter of Joseph and Rosa (Latham) Rand.
She graduated from Pratt High School in Essex, Connecticut.
A self-taught musician, she and her brother and sister formed a band, Ells Rand and Sisters. They played at the local Grange suppers, firehouse suppers, and even won a radio contract at a talent show.
She was a school driver for 50 years in Connecticut, Colorado, and Florida.
Moving to Albany after retirement, she and her sister, niece and grandnephew formed the Albany Hillbillies and entertained with their lively music at variety shows, nursing homes and churches.
She was an amazing cook and loved to invite family and friends to share. She had artistic talent as well. She painted many beautiful canvases.
She leaves a niece, Jacalyn Tollmann and her husband, Robert; a grandnephew, Chad Tollmann, and his wife, Jennifer; a great-grandniece, Mollee Tollmann; and two nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Richard Champlin.
She was laid to rest in the family lot in the North Lyme Cemetery in Hamburg, Connecticut.
Ruth Seguin Couture
....show , 91, wife of the late Albert A. Couture, died on Friday, December 13, 2013, at the Meriden Center in Meriden, Connecticut, after a brief illness.
She was born in Island Pond on August 24, 1922, daughter of the late Walter and Hazel Pelow Seguin. She had resided in Meriden since 1962.
She was employed by Spartan Tool Manufacturing from 1969 through 1987.
She was a member of Family Living Worship Center in Meriden.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, doing puzzles, and reading.
She is survived by three daughters: Alberta Roy of Meriden, Suzanne LeHerissier and her husband, Paul Larouche, of Meriden, and Laurie Collins of Meriden; two sons: Donald Couture of Suffield, Connecticut, and Dennis Couture of Terryville, Connecticut; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Francesca Anne Jodrey of Gorham, New Hampshire; and by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Greiser; two sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral services were held on December 16, 2013, in Meriden. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster, New Hampshire.
Fernand J. Forcier Sr.
....show , 93, of Newport died on April 27, 2014, in Glover.
He was born on January 1, 1921, in Newport Center, to Oscar and Cornelie (Trudel) Forcier.
On June 2, 1952, he married Mary Anna Anita Guyette, who predeceased him on December 5, 2011.
He was a veteran of World War II. He was a truck driver for Worthmore Feeds of Newport for 40 years. He was employed by Ethan Allen Manufacturing for 16 years, and after retiring from there, he was a driver for RCT for 17 years.
In his earlier years, he played tennis with the Azur boys. He loved to tinker with many things, such as cars, TVs, radios, lawn mowers basically anything he could tinker on. He loved watching tennis on TV and enjoyed taking his daily walks, which allowed him to visit with his friends around town.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #798 of Newport.
He is survived by his children: Fernand Forcier Jr. and his wife, Linda Cookie, of West Charleston, and Lynn Forcier of East Burke; his grandchildren: Shawn and his wife, Tarrah, Jeremy, Dawn-Marie, Michael and his fiancée, Brittany, Keira Gann and her husband, Adam, and ChrisitannaNoelle Hurd; and by his great-grandchildren: Olivia, Conner, Donovan, Trinity, JayShawnand Payton. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law: Leo Guyette and his wife, Joyce, of Newport, and Roland Guyette and his wife, Sandra, of Vergennes; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers: Conrad and Morice Forcier; his sister Valeda Labrecque; his half-sisters: Maryann Pelletier, Corona Lavoie, and Alice Chamberlin; and by his half-brothers: Donat Dube, Joseph Dube, Valmore Dube, Julian Forcier, and Roland Forcier.

Ray "Skip" Kelley

He was born on October 10, 1952, in Newport, to Leona (Jewett) and Gordon Kelley Sr.
On September 22, 2012, he married Brenda White, who survives him.
He was an inspector for quality control at Tivoly in Derby Line, for 41 years.
He graduated from North Country Union High School where he played in the band. He played the drums in the Newport Rotary Festival from 1968 to 1972.
He was formerly a member of the Newport Center Fire Department and was secretary and treasurer of the Advent Christian Church in Newport Center. He attended the Church of God, played softball for Tivoly, enjoyed bowling, and he was an avid Red Sox fan. He loved his church, singing, and he was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post #21.
He was also a member of the Cars of Yesteryear and he enjoyed traveling and family gatherings.
He is survived by his wife Brenda Kelley of Derby; his children: Danielle Blake and her husband, Andy, of Morgan, Eric Trucott and his girlfriend, Paula Kimball, of Holland, and Craig Trucott and his fiancée, Samantha Shaw, of Derby; his grandchildren: Taylor, Garrett, Chelsea, Brooke, Aidan, Amelia, Alden, and AraBella; his brothers: Gordon R. Kelley Jr. and his fiancée, Brenda Turgeon, of Newport, and David Kelley of Newport; and by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and cousins. He also survived by very supportive, special friends: Paul and Bernie White, and Brian Kimball.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, May 7, at the Church of God in Derby, with the Reverend Laurence Wall officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasantview Cemetery in Orleans.

Dean Alexander King
....show , 90, of Island Pond died peacefully on May 1, 2014, in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
He was born on April 3, 1924, in Norton, to Alexander and Kathleen (Foster) King.
On July 24, 1949, he married Martha Boucher, who survives him.
He was employed for 40 years at the United States Post Office as a postal clerk.
For 30 years, played the saxophone, clarinet and drums in a seven-piece band with the Dean King Orchestra.
He held many positions for the town of Island Pond including town selectman. He was also at one time on the board of North Country Union High School.
He is survived by his wife Martha King of Island Pond; his children: Bexie Devost and her husband, Roland, of Alburg, Heather Goulet and her husband, Albert, of Island Pond, Brent King and his wife, Betty, of Seattle, Washington, and Ward King and his wife, Kelley, of Bozeman, Montana; his grandchildren: Kristie, Tiffany and her husband, Craig Bertrand, Jamie and his wife, Brandy, Joshua and Ashley King, Austin and his wife, Katie, and Wesley; eight great-grandchildren; his siblings: Brian King and his wife, Mary, of Barton, Gayle Currier and her husband, Vernon, of Media, Pennsylvania, Lois Webster of Enosburg, and Sherry Pinard of Littleton, New Hampshire; his sister-in-law Anita King of North Stratford, New Hampshire; his brother-in-law John Boucher and his wife, Suzanne, of Stanstead, Quebec; his many nieces, and nephews; and by his special friends: John MacDonald and his wife, Allison.
He was predeceased by his brothers: Reid and James King; his sister Gloria Canario; his parents, James A. Pop King and Kathleen Foster King; his brothers-in-law: Royce Pinard, Robert Webster and Edwin Bruhmuller; and by his sisters-in-law: Evelyn Bruhmuller, Glenna King and Marion Boucher.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Dale Alan Martin
....show , 53, of Nashua, New Hampshire, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at his home.
He was born on October 13, 1960, in Newport, a son of Earl Sr. and Ruth (Wood) Martin.
He loved going to the movies, doing crossword and Sudoku puzzles, fishing, motorcycling and spending time in Vermont with his family. He also enjoyed going to the Rockingham Track.
Mr. Martin was an electrician in the Nashua area and a carpenter by trade. He enjoyed volunteering his time on many Nashua community projects.
He is survived by his two sons: Adam Martin and Cody Martin, both of Derry, New Hampshire; his sister Tammy Barrup of Island Pond; three brothers: Earl Martin Jr. of Island Pond, Robert Martin of Florida, and Denis Martin of Morgan; his special friend Nancy Dyer Clayman of Nashua; and by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his maternal grandmother Irene Woods; and by a special friend, Bonnie Stupak.
A graveside service was held on May 5, at the Lakeside Cemetery in Island Pond.

Fred S. May
....show , 76, of Barton died peacefully on May 1, 2014, in Newport.
He was born in Elmhurst, Illinois, on September 20, 1937, and he always said, "I was a Chicago born Vermonter."
He graduated from Barton Academy in 1955 and from the University of Vermont in 1959. He received a Masters in education from Bishops University. He came back to teach at his alma mater, Barton Academy, and taught there until he started at Lake Region Union High School, where he was chairman of the math department. He also coached soccer, basketball and baseball there.
With John St. Onge, they started Little League baseball in the Barton-Glover area. He also coached soccer at Barton Academy and he was later the assistant principal and athletic director at Lake Region, where he left in 1980. He worked at E.M. Brown & Son until his retirement.
He was a member of the Barton Fire Department for many years and was one of the original ambulance squad members. He was in one of the first classes of EMTs that were trained at North Country Hospital in Newport. He was also a member of the Barton Medical Clinic Board, which was responsible for creating the Barton Medical Clinic. He was on the board of directors of North Country Hospital for 15 years and he served as chairman for a number of years. Mr. May was elected to the Orleans Northeast Essex Athletic Hall of Fame.
He enjoyed playing basketball, softball, and golf. After his retirement, he enjoyed working at the Barton Golf Club, which was built on the farm he grew up on.
He is survived by his wife Jane May of Barton; his children: Mark and Christine May of Jacksonville, Florida, David and Lisa May of Canton, Georgia, Kathy and Steve Jones of Morrisville, and Peter and Sherry May of Brownington; his sisters: Mary and her husband, Brian King, of Barton, and Dorothy and her husband, David Hathaway, of Barton; his grandchildren: Nathan May and Kelsey Cochran, Ian Jones, Eric Haselton, and Steve Martin; and by three great-grandchildren: Tyson, Nathan Jr., and Makayla.
He was predeceased by his parents: Harold and Jessie May.

Leo A. Perron
....show , 86, of Newport died peacefully on May 1, 2014, in Newport.
He was born on April 3, 1928, in Glover, to Ernest and Maria (Gagnon) Perron.
On March 29, 1948, he married Ruth Menard, who survives him.
He graduated from Berdett College in Massachusetts with a degree in accounting.
He enjoyed building camps with his wife and they also built their home together.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.
Mr. Perron started his career as an accountant and after 45 years he retired from Hayes Ford in Newport, in 2001. He also enjoyed selling cars.
He held memberships with the Knights of Columbus and Newport Elks Lodge #2155.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth Perron of Newport; his children: Jeannine Mislak and her husband, Jody, of Plainfield, and Joanne Lalime and her husband, Mark, of Hyde Park; his grandchildren: Michael Mislak and his wife, Mandy, Stephanie Kevin and her husband, Matt, Jillian Gray and her fiancée, Tyler Cochran, and Jonathan Gray and his fiancée, Amy Williams; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his siblings: Richard Perron and his wife, Marilyn, of Glover, Walter Perron and his wife, Dee, of Connecticut, Eddie Perron and his wife, Carol, of Glover, Nelson Perron and his wife, Ginni, of Arizona, Rita Haag of Colorado, Estelle Parmeter of Massachusetts, Martha Alexander of Glover, Yolie Chamberlain and her husband, Dale, of St. Johnsbury, and Cecile Davignon and her husband, Ernest, of New Hampshire.
He was predeceased by his son Leo Perron Jr.; and by four brothers and two sisters.

Linda R. (Metcalf) Reick
....show , 70, died on Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois.
She was born in Irasburg on May 19, 1943. She graduated from the Irasburg grade school, Orleans High School in Orleans, and Champlain College in Burlington.
She married John Reick on September 19, 1964, in Irasburg.
She began her career with Glenwood Medical Group in Joliet, and then she was office manager for Dr. Warren Wunderlich. She also worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Coventry.
She was a deaconess and former member of the Irasburg United Church in Irasburg. She attended Grace United Methodist Church in Joliet.
She enjoyed quilting, antiques and traveling. She was actively involved with the Orleans High School Class Alumni Committee.
She is survived by her husband John P. Reick; two sons: Jon C. Reick and his wife, Andrea, of Peoria, Illinois, and Jeff R. Reick and his wife, Michelle, of Channahon, Illinois; four grandchildren: Courtney, Jacob, Samantha and Curtis Reick; her sister Janine and her husband, Raymond LaMarche, of Coventry; her brother Brady Metcalf and his wife, Mariette, of Irasburg; and by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ray and Dorothy Metcalf; and by a brother, Wayne Metcalf.
A memorial service will be held in Irasburg at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Irasburg United Church will be appreciated.
Jessica J. Whittemore
....show , 33, of Newport died suddenly on May 3, 2014, in Newport.
She was born on January 5, 1981, in Morrisville, to Dean and Sandra (Welch) Whittemore.
She was full of love and laughter. She was an outstanding daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and companion. She spoiled her nieces and nephews with all the love in the world.
Her contagious laughter and personality brightened every room. The love she bestowed upon her family and friends will last forever.
Being the oldest of eight siblings meant she was a second mother, best friend, and a shoulder to lean on.
She was a dedicated LNA and worked at the Manor Nursing Home in Morrisville for 14 years. The residents and her co-workers looked forward to seeing her smiling face. She took pride in the care she provided. There is a hole in the hearts and lives of everyone she left behind.
She also enjoyed traveling whenever she got the chance.
She will never be forgotten.
