LUNENBURG – Albert James “Bert” Morin
....show , 80, of Lake Road, died peacefully June 5, 2014 at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, St. Johnsbury, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Morin was born in Lancaster, NH, on September 15, 1933, the son of Alfred J. and Yvette (Lussier) Morin.
Bert worked as a potato farmer and truck driver for A.J. Morin and Sons. He was also employed for a time at Timberland Machine in Lancaster. In the mid 50’s he served in the United States Army.
In 1955 he married Laura Janice Carpenter in Barre, VT.
He was a Communicant of All Saints Church in Lancaster and honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. Bert was also a past member of the Lancaster Snow Drifters Snowmobile Club.
Surviving family members include his wife Laura of Lunenburg; four daughters, Cheryl Stearns of Cornelius, North Carolina and her children Lauren and Patrick, Sherry Morin-Barton and her husband Henry of South Burlington and their children Hannah, Jake and Sage, Shelly Hirn of Wilton, CT and her children Jordan and Alexa, Launa Morin-Glover and her husband Douglas of Sugar Hill, NH and their son Ben; three sisters, Marguerite “Sis” Moffett and her husband Don of Penacook, Cathy Olexa and her husband Jerry of Ohio, and Loretta Colby of Gilman. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Joseph Morin.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday June 28 at 11:00 AM in Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster. Rev. Matthew Mason, pastor of the Gate of Heaven Parish, will officiate.

WHITEFIELD, NH – Anna Lou Holman
....show , 80, died Monday evening January 5, 2015 at The Morrison in Whitefield.
Mrs. Holman was born in Greenup, Kentucky on May 5, 1934 the daughter of Walter E. and Nancy R. Hannah. After the death of her mother, she was adopted by Frederick J. and Della E. (Newton) Yost.
Raised in Lexington, Kentucky she was a graduate of Lafayette High School. In 1952, she married John H. Holman, Jr. ("Jack"), with whom she had three children. She worked tirelessly and lovingly to raise their family, while pursuing a successful career in banking, retiring as Vice President of the Star Bank in northern Kentucky.
Known for her kindness and love of animals Anna raised orphaned raccoons for the wildlife service. She was also a talented and avid flower gardener. She was very fond of antiques and enjoyed decorating her home with restored treasures found in flea markets and at auctions. Her grandchildren were bright lights in her life and she loved nothing more than spending time with them.
Surviving family members include her son John David Holman of Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky; two daughters Pamela Sansoucy and husband George of Lancaster, Ginger Woodard of Edgewood, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren David Sansoucy, Austin Sansoucy, Matthew Sansoucy, Andrew Woodard, Hannah Woodard; and four great grandchildren Ava, Jackson, Caiden, and Winslow.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

LANCASTER – Arthur D. Collins
....show , 92, of Ice Pond Road, died Sunday morning February 2, 2014 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mr. Collins was born in Lakeport, NH, on July 18, 1921 the son of Albert and Jessie (Ingerson) Collins.
For most of his life Arthur worked as a heavy equipment operator and for 20 years was a local auctioneer. He retired in 1990. At one time he served on the Civilian Conservation Corp. Arthur loved to hunt and fish especially with family.
Family members include his son Ronald Collins of Manchester; a sister Pauline Emery of Lancaster; 7 grandchildren, Joseph Poirier of Dallas, TX, Bonnie Pettigrew, Arthur Collins, Dennis Collins, Brad Collins and Patrick Collins all of Manchester; and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Olive H. (Walker) Collins; a son Donald Collins; a daughter Barbara Smalley; a grandson Marvin Smalley; a step-son Howard Ripley; and two step-daughters Irene Raymond and Elaine Hastings.
At Arthur’s request there are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Forest Vale Cemetery in Jefferson.
LANCASTER – Barbara A. Luckey
....show , 61, died at her home Thursday afternoon December 26, 2013 surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Luckey was born in Syracuse, NY on October 13, 1952, the daughter of Richard and Leona (Cole) Holden.
Raised in the Syracuse area Barbara moved with her son to Bonita Springs, FL in 1973.
In 1977 she met R. Floyd Luckey Jr. and they married in 1980.
Together they operated the Bonita Beach Plantation Resort for many years while spending summers in Lancaster.
In 2008 they moved to Lancaster permanently.
Barbara took pride in the fact that she was a friend of Bill for 35 years.
Over the years she has helped many others find that friendship, even in the final days of her life.
She loved to paint, she enjoyed her flowers, and she was a member of the Lancaster Historical Society.
Family members include her husband R. Floyd Luckey Jr. of Lancaster; her son William T. Palya and his wife Alicia of Littleton; two granddaughters, Lindsay Palya of Lancaster, Grace Palya of Heath, Ohio; two step-children, Bob Luckey and Patty Rohman both of Florida; two brothers David Holden and Chuck Holden both of Florida; and two sisters Debra Oliver of Tennessee and Linda Clark of Ohio.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday evening December 28 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 12 Noon at the funeral home.
Her nephew Irving Luckey will officiate.
Burial will be in the spring at Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.

....show , 92 of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 28, 1922, in Manchester, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Paul and Ethel Carter.
For over 30 years she traveled North to spend her Summers with family and friends in New England specifically in the Lancaster, NH and Guildhall, VT areas.
Barbara was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing in Florida and the Waumbek Country Club in Jefferson, NH.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years Paul (Bud) Scott Willey, a daughter Cynthia Willey of Lancaster, NH, a son Alan Willey of Port Orange, FL , 3 grandchildren Katie Christopher McMann of Lancaster, NH, Kristen Dewar of Ft. Pierce, FL, and Thomas (TJ) James Willey of West Palm Beach, FL and 2 great-grandchildren Addison and Mallory Dewar of Ft. Pierce, FL.

MANCHESTER – Bert J. Howe
....show , 89, formerly of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday morning October 7, 2014 at Catholic Medical Center.
Mr. Howe was born in Lancaster on December 20, 1924 the son of Harlie and Ester (Forbes) Howe.
During the Korean Conflict he served with the US Army and was stationed in France. For 35 years he was employed at the Wambec Mills, a manufacturer of fabrics, and then worked 10 years in custodial services for AIG Insurance.
Surviving family members includes a son Alain Howe and his wife Donna of Manchester, granddaughters Melissa Carder and her husband Heath, Megan Pothier and her husband Craig. He has two great grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. and a sister Harlene Huntoon and he husband Bernard, along with several nieces and nephews.
His wife Jeannine Howe and his sister Mary Mezey predeceased him.
In his earlier years Bert was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed spending time with his dad and son fishing and hunting in the North Country. In his later years he enjoyed his retirement watching his grand children and great-grand children grow.
He spent his later years vacationing with his family at Moosehead Lake in Rockwood Maine. His son and daughter-in-law felt blessed to have him live with them for the last eight years.
A visiting hour will be held Friday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

LANCASTER - Betty-Anne Sunderman
....show , 94, of Whitefield died after a short illness on Friday December 12, 2014 at Weeks Medical Center.
Mrs. Sunderman was born on September 13, 1920 in New Rochelle, New York, the daughter of Dorothy (nee Douglas) Davis and George Moulton Davis.
Betty attended the New Rochelle schools and graduated from Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts in 1942. She married Lieutenant Irwin Sunderman USNR on October 14, 1944. After WWII they lived in Westfield, New Jersey, and Greenwich Connecticut. After vacationing in the White Mountains since the 1920’s they moved permanently to Whitefield in 1983.
Mrs. Sunderman worked as a volunteer for the hospital auxiliary guilds in New Jersey and Connecticut. More recently, she was a member of the White Mountain Garden Club and the Sugar Hill Historical Museum. She was very active each summer on the alter guild of the chapel of the Transfiguration in Whitefield. During the year she was a regular parishioner at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lancaster.
A daughter of the American Revolution on both sides of the family, she is survived by her husband, Irwin “Win” Sunderman; 2 daughters, Anne (Mark) Patterson of Saratoga Springs, New York; and Laurie (Randall) Atcheson of Greenwich, Connecticut; a grandson, Stephen Patterson and his partner, Stephanie Knapp of Vero Beach Florida.
There will be a private service for the family. Internment will take place in the spring in New Rochelle, New York at the Davis family plot.
The family would like to think the Whitefield Rescue Squad, and Dr. Benson and the nurses in the emergency room and ICU at Weeks Medical Center. “We will always be grateful to her caregivers.”
JEFFERSON – Carroll E. Ingerson
....show , 86, died Tuesday afternoon March 12, 2014 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Mr. Ingerson was a lifetime resident of Jefferson. He was born there on July 12, 1927 the son of Albert and Helen (Page) Ingerson. He graduated from Lancaster Academy and for 22 years worked for the Ingerson Dairy. He then worked 23 years for Timberland Machine and several years at Santa’s Village.
Carroll was a spiritual man and for many years taught adult Sunday School. He also assisted area churches by conducting Sunday services to cover for pastors who were away or for churches between pastors. For the town of Jefferson he served as a selectman for 32 years.
His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family members include his wife of 64 years Gladys L. (Boudle) Ingerson of Jefferson; two children Brenda Manuel and Lloyd Ingerson both of Jefferson; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters Stella Paschal of Jefferson, Marilyn Wetmore of Brandon, VT; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Elliott Ingerson.

MANCHESTER, CT - Catherine (Boyle) Brown
....show , 97 of Manchester, CT died on January 23, 2015 at the assisted living facility Mountain Laurel in Glastonbury, CT. where she had resided for approximately one month.
Kay was born on January 10, 1918 in Dalton, N.H. and was one of eleven children born to Annie Boyle and William Boyle. She is survived by one sister, Irene Lynde of Littleton, N.H. along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Lewis Boyle, Bernard Boyle, William Boyle and Clarence Boyle and sisters Rena Savage, Agnes Palmer, Marion Bishop, Margaret Boyle and Hilda Corrigan.
Kay graduated from Dalton High School in 1936 and then worked at the Mount Cranmore Inn in North Conway, N.H. where she “skied every afternoon”. She subsequently worked in Boston before moving to the Hartford, CT area where she worked at Aetna Insurance for years and then worked as an administrative assistant at Damato Enterprises in Manchester, CT. She also worked a second job in the office at Fountain Village where she resided in Manchester, and she retired from her jobs after she reached 90.
Kay enjoyed traveling primarily throughout the northeast and especially enjoyed trips to Ogunquit, ME and walking the Marginal Way organized and accompanied by her niece Daryl Corrigan Buswell where they were joined by other family members. For decades Kay was caring and generous with her nieces and nephews. Numerous nieces and nephews helped Kay during her last year of declining health.
Services will be scheduled for the spring, followed by burial at the John’s River cemetery in Dalton, N.H. in the Boyle family lot.

LANCASTER - Cecile Renaud Dubois
....show was born April 9, 1919 in Berlin, NH and passed away on October 12, 2014. She was the last living sibling of Mary (Taylor) and Edouard Renaud. Together, they had nine children. Cecile was educated at St. Regis School in Berlin, and attended high school in Granby, Quebec . She was soon asked to return to her home in Berlin to help her sister, Yvette, with beautician work.
She married Normand Dubois on July 4, 1940, and together they worked as dry cleaners and clothiers until the early 1950’s in Lancaster, NH. Normand used to boast that Cecile could iron 50 pair of pants in one day. Their mode of transportation was a bicycle built for two. They had such fun riding their bike throughout Lancaster, and were quickly loved by the community. In 1947, they had the Dubois block built, and began Dubois Cleaners and Clothiers.
In 1953, they founded Santa’s Village in Jefferson. They managed and grew the theme park for decades. She inspired many Helpers by her love and dedication. The importance of providing JOY to the guests who visited the park was on top of her list! After Normand’s death in 1986, Cecile lovingly continued to work there until her late 80’s.
She was a wonderful cook, and loving matriarch to her family. She traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Florida during the winter months, and had wonderful friends who helped her live there on her own. Recently, she moved from her home to the Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, NH. She loved living there, and was loved by all who knew her.
She was a devoted communicant of the Gate of Heaven Parish, and a long time member of the Tabernacle Society. Her deep faith guided and sustained her throughout her life.
Cecile is also predeceased by their son, Paul, who passed away in 1990. He had three children with wife Margaret (Hanlon): Nicole Albert of Fryeburg, ME, Ryan Dubois of Middletown Springs, VT, and Bridget Hilarides, of Chatham, NH. She is survived by two daughters: Elaine and Mike Gainer, and Norma and John Ahern both of Lancaster. Grandchildren include: Susan Gainer of Seattle, WA, Melanie Staley of Lancaster and Christian Gainer of Monson, MA. Meghan Ahern of Cranston, RI, Allison, Andrea and John Paul Ahern all of Lancaster. She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren, and many close nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 18th at 10:00, All Saint’s Church, Lancaster. Reverend Matthew Mason, pastor, will officiate. DALTON – Charles B. Falkenstrom Jr
....show , 67, of Faraway Road, died suddenly at his residence Saturday morning November 1, 2014
Mr. Falkenstrom was born in Bridgeport CT on February 3, 1946, a son to Charles and Stephanie Falkenstrom.
Chuck as many people knew him, was raised in Bridgeport and is a graduate of Roger Ludlow High School. After graduation he enlisted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. Upon Chucks discharge from the Army, he then attended the University of Connecticut where he graduated with an associate’s degree in marketing.
In 1974 Chuck moved to Groveton and was employed as a meat cutter in the small markets in the surrounding towns of Groveton, Lancaster, and Whitefield. I 1983 he bought his property in Dalton and continued his work as a meat cutter in the surrounding towns until settling into working at Mac’s Market.
Chuck loved to cut wood primarily for his personal use and it is told that if you went to visit and he was not in the house he could be found out back cutting his wood. When he would have some time to get away, he would go to Bar Harbor a place that he loved to visit. He also enjoyed music, so much that when a song came on he could tell you the name of the artist and even the name of the person who first sang the song.
Chuck was predeceased by his parents; and a Brother – in – law Joseph Bodnar

....show , 62, of Starr King Park, died Monday morning March 31, 2014 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster after a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Huntington was born in Lancaster on March 25, 1952 the son of Leslie S. and Elinor (Aldrich) Huntington.
Charlie was a graduate of White Mountain Regional High School and the New Hampshire Police Academy. For 25 years he has worked as a lineman for Public Service of New Hampshire. For over 30 years he has served as a police officer in Lancaster and Jefferson. He also served as Jefferson’s Health Officer. He enjoyed horse pulls and Nascar racing and most of all spending time with family. He was also a big support of 4-H.
Family members include his wife Deborah (Samson) Huntington of Lancaster; four children and their spouses, Shelli Roberts and Michael of Lancaster, Michael Huntington and Stephanie of Lancaster, Kelly Noland and James of Lunenburg, Katrina Stewart and Randy of Lancaster; eight grandchildren, Cameron, Michaela, Brooke, Hollie, Matthew, Scott, Kyleigh, Emree; five siblings, Roger Huntington of Lancaster, Donald Huntington of Rindge, Sharon Bushaw of Lancaster, Sidney Huntington of Jefferson, Cynthia Smith South Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother Herbert Huntington.

DALTON – Charles J. Packard
....show , 64, of Whitefield Road, died Saturday afternoon, November 15, 2014 at the Littleton Regional Hospital.
Mr. Packard was born in Whitefield on October 11, 1950 the son of Clare and Marion (Provencher) Packard.
Charlie was a 1969 graduate of White Mountain Regional High School and he attended the Whittemore School of Applied Science at the University of New Hampshire. He worked in the construction business with his father who he bought out in 1981 which became Packard Construction.
Over the years he was a Dalton Selectman, Dalton fire fighter of which he served as fire chief for 37 years and Dalton Town Moderator for 15 years. He was also SAU 36 school moderator for 10 years, served on the Mount Washington Regional Airport Commission and ran a post office to post office mail route for 6 years.
In 1998 Charlie was diagnosed with Parkinson Disease but continued to run his mail route for 5 years and worked in his shop to keep busy.
He leaves behind his wife of 43 years Ellyn; a son Aaron and his wife Patricia; a daughter Charity and her husband Bill; three granddaughters, Andrea, Jordon & Olivia; a brother Peter and his wife Susan; two sisters Katharine and husband Gerry, Loretta Grace; 4 nieces, 3 nephews, 7 grandnieces and 5 grandnephews.

GUILDHALL. - Charles (Charley) Schwirzer
....show , 94, of Route 102 died Wednesday night July 9, 2014 at Country Village, Lancaster.
Charley was born in Weiden, Germany, on December 17, 1919, the son of John and Marie (Bingold) Schwirzer.
Charley came to the United States when he was 7 years old. He worked as a dental technician and butcher before being drafted into the Army during WW II. He went on to serve 3 years in the Pacific. Once Charley completed his service in the Army, he worked as a window washer in New York City for many years. He resided in New York City, Long Island, Queens, and the state of Maine. For a time he resided in the town of Groveton, NH while building his home in Guildhall. He was an avid reader and was a very talented artist who enjoyed painting, drawing and playing the violin.
Family members include his wife, Irene (Matta) Schwirzer of Guildhall; son, Michael Schwirzer of Windmoor, PA; two daughters, Marie Thompson of Lancaster, Edie Bell of Whitefield; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

LANCASTER – Charlotte M. Scott
....show , 83, formerly of Garland Road, died peacefully Saturday August 23, 2014 at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center.
Charlotte was born in Metuchen, NJ on May 1, 1931 the daughter of Alexander and Mildred (Hawkins) Kravits. She worked as a Telephone Operator and then went on to earn her cap as an LPN from Fitkin Hospital, Neptune, NJ in 1964. She worked for Fitkin Hospital until she move to Florida where she went to work as a nurse for Cape Coral Hospital in Cape Coral, FL until she retired. She then went to work for Sprint until 2006 when she moved to New Hampshire.
Charlotte and her husband, Salvatore, who passed on February 14, 2011, lived in Neptune, NJ until 1979 when they moved to Florida.
She was a devote Christian and went on several mission trips to South America.
Family members include her children Virginia “Ginny” Crane and husband Ron of Lancaster, Paul Scott and his wife Diane of Naples, FL; a sister Dorothy Taylor of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a niece and several nephews . She was also predeceased by a brother Alex Kravits.

Mr. Gonyer was born in Lancaster on May 1, 1936 the son of Wilfred Clyde and Verna (Newman) Gonyer.
For 38 years Bucky was employed at the Groveton paper mill. He worked there as a foreman and later in the boiler room. After retiring he worked several years at Santa’s Village, Jefferson. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of fish and game clubs and the NRA. For 6 years he served in the Army National Guard.
Family members include his wife Margaret (Lamotte) Gonyer of Lunenburg; his children, Paul McGoff and wife Kerry of Santa Clara, CA, James McGoff and wife Debra of Orford, NH, Theresa Taylor and husband Harold of Orford, NH, Chris Gulick and husband Kenneth of Ely, VT, Gloria Kenyon of Bradford, VT, Rita Kenyon and husband Mark of Lunenburg, Sylvia Ball and husband Brian of Lunenburg; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Smith and her husband Edward of Lancaster, Mary Wheeler, of Weaver, Alabama, and several nieces and nephews.
There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held Saturday afternoon, May 31, at 2:00 PM in the Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster. Rev. Matthew Mason, Pastor of the Gate of Heaven Parish will officiate.

....show , 61, of Lancaster Road, died January 12, 2015 at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center after a long period of declining health.
Mr. Peel was born in Stark on June 21, 1953 the son of David F. Peel Sr. and Theresa Etta (Gibson) Peel.
Raised in Stark David was a graduate of Groveton High School. For many years he resided in the Boston area where he attended Northeastern University. He worked for the Boston Children’s Hospital until 1994 and then was self employed for a time. He returned to college where he acquired two associate degrees, one in electrical engineering and the other in energy management at Lakes Region Tech.
Returning to Groveton he served on the school board and was an active member of the Groveton United Methodist Church.
Surviving family members include his mother Theresa E. Peel of Groveton; his wife Susan (Geyer) Peel of Groveton; three brothers Dean Peel of Groveton, Durwood Peel and wife Donna of Massachusetts, Danforth Peel and wife Patricia Styles of Stark; two nephews Douglas Peel and wife Alyssa of Massachusetts, Julius Peel of Stark and a niece Dominique Peel of Stark. He was predeceased by his father and a brother Douglas Peel.
Visiting hours will be held Friday evening January 16 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Sunday January 18 at 1:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Groveton. Reverend Daniel Rodrigues, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in the Emerson Cemetery, Stark.

JEFFERSON, NH – Denise C. Deery (Lafortune)
....show , 62 of Jefferson, NH made her journey to Heaven, Tuesday, September 23, 2014 ending her long battle with Cancer. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born to the late Raymond R. Lafortune and Doris T. Lafortune (Morency) in Lowell, MA. Denise graduated from St. Louis Academy in Lowell, MA. She married John B. Deery at St. Williams Church in Tewksbury, MA on December 10, 1971. They began their lives together in Lowell, MA, then relocating to Washington, DC where her husband John Deery was a Metropolitain Police Officer. Following her husband through his career they lived together with their family in Derry, NH, Londonderry, NH, Canaan, NH, Salem, NH, Windham, NH, Twin Mountain, NH and retiring in Jefferson, NH.
Denise worked at the Cardigan Mountain School, Canaan, NH before entering her career within Hospitality Management at Higbea Motel, Holiday Inn Salem, NH and Holiday Inn, Tewksbury, Andover, MA before she and her husband purchased The Northlander Motel, Twin Mountain, NH fulfilling a life long dream of owning their own motel. They retired together in Jefferson, NH selling their motel in 2008.
Denise will always be remembered for her devotion to god. In every community she and her family lived she was always so proud to be active both spiritually and musically within the catholic parishes. Denise was known for always opening her home to anyone in need. She and her family enjoyed producing many variety shows that helped many charitable organizations. She loved the ocean, visiting as many light houses as the road would take her to, trips to Hyanis, MA and Florida.
Denise is survived by her husband John B. Deery of Jefferson, NH, daughter Marjon D. Licks and husband Michael P. Licks of Canaan, NH, daughter Denise M. Biathrow and husband Cliff R. Biathrow of Grafton, NH, son John B. Deery Jr. of Jefferson, NH and daughter Christine A. Labore and husband Jason D. Labore of Lancaster, NH, her nine grandchildren Brendin, Sarah, Jordan, Alexis, Ryan, Josh, McKenzie, Desiree and Khale, her brother Raymond Lafortune Sr. and wife Colleen Lafortune of Lowell, MA, her brother Gerry Lafortune, her brother Andy Lafortune and wife Beth Lafortune of Tewksbury, MA, her sister Anne Marie Gauthier and husband Roland Gauthier of Hudson, NH and sister Renee Ronin of Tyngsboro, MA. her godchildren Lindsay Lafortune of Tewksbury, MA and Matthew Lafortune of Lowell, MA. Mr. Rexford was born in Lancaster on January 12, 1958 the son of Rodney and Nancy J. (Bergquist) Rexford.
Most of his working life he was a truck driver and drove for his father Rodney. Dennis enjoyed fishing, computer games and watching his grandchildren.
He is survived by his parents of Dalton; his first wife Doris Mitton and their children, Jamie Rexford and wife Mary Beth of Merrimack, NH, Adam and wife Laura of Manchester, NH; his daughter with his second wife Carol (predeceased), Michelle Murphy and husband Kevin of Littleton; four grandchildren, Lucas, Christopher, Savannah, George; his sisters, Karen LaRoche of Dalton, Robin Pilotte and husband Eric of Whitefield, Wendy Rexford of Concord, NH; a brother Allen and wife Nancy of Dalton; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.

GILMAN – Diana Parker
....show , 76, formerly of Gilman, died Wednesday evening February 19, 2014 at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center, Lancaster.
Born in Falmouth, Maine on May 24, 1937, Diana was the daughter of Clinton Rupert and Anena Catrina (Madsen) Parker. She was raised on the Portland Waterfront and later Westbrook, ME. For a brief time she also lived in Westbrook, CT until she settled in Lunenburg, VT in 1969.
Raising her family in Lunenburg, Diana was a dedicated homemaker who was known for her generosity to others. Many of her neighbors and friends of her children were welcome at her home and partook of her good cooking.
For a time she worked as a meat cutter at Butsons Supermarket and was also a pottery maker at Mountaine Meadows Pottery. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crosswords, swimming, long rides and was a big fan of Stephen King.
Family members include her children Keith Parker of Lunenburg, Stephen Parker of Hardwick, James Parker, Tracy Dunnells and Veronica Heyes all of Lunenburg; 13 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and her many close friends. She was predeceased by a daughter Victoria Parker of Danville, VT in 2010 and a brother Donald Parker.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Sunday afternoon February 23, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster, NH. Burial will be at a later date in Maine.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Newport, VT on May 3, 1936 the daughter of Cleon and Alice (Prevost) Wells.
She attended the local schools in Newport where she lived until moving to Lancaster later on into her adult years.
Doris worked as a chamber maid at the Mount Washington Hotel until her retirement. After her retirement her main focus in life was her children and grandchildren. Family and friends say that she had a smile that could light a room.
Surviving family members include her son Clement H. Johnson Jr. of Groveton; 4 daughters, Heidi Johnson and husband Jeffrey of Lancaster; Tammy Keller of Lancaster; Lisa Brown of Lancaster; Debbie Johnson of Groveton; 13 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a special friend Cathy Bishop of Lancaster.

Mrs. Walter was born in Dalton on February 6, 1917 the daughter of Maurice W. Pilotte and Mary E. (Boswell) Pilotte*. Raised in Dalton she was a graduate of Dalton School and in 1938 she married Maurice Walter from Vermont. For many years she was employed at the Gilman Paper Mill and worked at various shoe shops in Littleton.
Earline loved her home especially tending her vegetable and flower gardens. Through the years she enjoyed hunting and fishing with Maurice and was a cat lover.
Family members include 3 nieces and a nephew, Ann Pelotte of Guildhall, Linda Henry of Dalton, Maurice Pelotte of Littleton and Penny Pelotte of Lisbon. She was predeceased by her husband Maurice; a sister Leona Covey; a brother Clifford Pelotte and a nephew Kenneth Pelotte.

Mr. Robbins was born in Concord, MA on April 22, 1933 the son of Edgar LaForest Robbins and Ceva Branch Kennie Robbins.
He worked most of his life as an auto service technician and ran his own repair shop called Ed's Place in Maidstone, VT.
Ed enjoyed flying, building model airplanes, skiing, snowmobiling, and attending auto races. He had a love of music and in his youth enjoyed playing the guitar.
Edgar was a Free and Accepted Mason and served with the US Army.
Family members include his son Bert Loring Robbins and his wife Toni of Derry, NH; two daughters, Debra Lynn Bailey and her husband Eric of Pepperell, MA. Cheryl Lee Boswell and her husband Kevin of Rumney, NH; 6 grandchildren, Nathan Bowker, Justin Bowker, Eric Bailey, Laura Bailey, Taylor Robbins and Tucker Robbins; two sisters, Rebecca Loring Pennucci of Manchester, NH and Martha Fredinburgh of Belchertown, MA

LANCASTER - Edward C. Smith Sr.
....show 90, of Lancaster, NH died Thursday December 4, 2014 at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center. Edward was born in Lancaster, NH on January 4, 1924, the son of Gordon and Lillian (Newton) Smith. He was raised in Lancaster and attended the Lancaster Academy.
On April 3, 1948 Edward married Joyce M. Thomas (Newman) and on April 30 1948 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was a boiler technician on the ships he served.
He was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean Conflict and served on the USS Niblack and the USS Macon before his final and honorable discharge in 1952 from the Navy.
After the Navy he moved to St. Johnsbury and worked for Fairbanks & Morse Scale Company. Eventually he moved back to Lancaster and became part of the spare crew of the Boston & Maine Railroad. Then moving on to Gilman Paper Mill in Gilman Vermont.
After recovering from an injury to his arm in a paper machine accident, Edward owned and operated Smith’s Mobile Station in Lancaster for 10 years. During his retirement, Edward enjoyed collecting coins, watching westerns, his flower gardens, talking about the Navy with other servicemen and especially any time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was also a lifetime member of the John W. Weeks post 3041 of Lancaster and the Military Order of the Cooties serving as a past Grand Commander and Quartermaster.
Surviving family members include his wife of 66 years, Joyce M. (Thomas) Smith; a son, Edward C. Smith Jr. of Lancaster; two daughters, Verna M. White of Lancaster and Jodi A. Rooney and husband John of Lancaster; a brother, Walter Smith of Newburyport, MA. Seven grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in the Spring at Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster and will be announced at a later date. Mr. Samson was born in Jefferson, NH on November 12, 1938 the son of Philip J. and Lucille (Clevette) Samson.
Surviving family members include four children, Deborah A. Huntington of Lancaster, Edward J. Samson Jr. of Lancaster, Cindy L. Bennett of Lancaster, Tina M. Samson of Lancaster; a brother Paul Samson of Lancaster; a sister Helen A. Coulter of Jefferson; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Corrine (Gonyer) Samson in 1995; a son James Samson and an infant son Phillip.
Ed was raised in Jefferson on the family dairy farm. He went on to work for 25 years in the road construction business and was employed with R.S. Audley and later Cook & Ross construction companies. He then he purchased the Elms Hotel Restaurant & Lounge in Lancaster which he owned and operated for 25 years. In the more recent years he resided in Bloomfield, VT where he enjoyed raising Scottish Highlander cattle.

LANCASTER – Everett W. “Hooper” Rexford
....show , 84, of Causeway Street, died at his home Saturday March 29, 2014 after a long illness surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Rexford was born in East Burke, VT on January 13, 1930 the son of Carroll I. and Myrtle (Danforth) Rexford. For a short time he was raised there until his family moved to Whitefield where they operated a dairy farm.
Eventually Hooper moved to Middle Street in Lancaster where he raised his family. At first he went into the logging business with a two year hiatus to serve in the US Army in an artillery unit during the Korean Conflict. Returning home he continued in the logging business and also started a scrap metal business.
He was a determined entrepreneur who operated several other businesses. For a time was in the building construction business and built many homes in the Lancaster area. He also started Rexford and Son Construction Company and from 1981 to 1987 he ran Hooper’s Auction House. In 1988 he opened Hooper’s Furniture and retired in 2000.
Hooper served his community for 22 years on the Lancaster Fire Department where he was a former assistant chief. Memberships include the Kiwanis Club and the American Legion.
Many things in life brought him enjoyment including fishing, berry picking, gardening, casino gambling, auctions and travelling. He also loved riding his Segway and being with his dog Buddy.
Surviving family members include his wife Phyllis (Manville) Rexford of Lancaster; his five children and their spouses, Wayne & Tina Rexford, David and Linda Rexford, Gary and Terri Rexford all of Lancaster, Susan and Mario Audit of Groveton, Randall and Patricia Rexford of Lancaster; two stepchildren and their spouses, Ronald and Lisa Manville of Lancaster, Bonnie and Robin Reynolds of Groveton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother Rodney Rexford and wife Nancy of Dalton and a sister Gail Cormier and husband Eugene of Whitefield. He was predeceased by a brother Wendell Rexford and his twin sister Evelyn “Sue” Eastman.

GUILDHALL – Fred D. Shannon
....show , 77, of North Road died suddenly at his home Monday afternoon March 3, 2014.
Mr. Shannon was born in Sussex, New Brunswick on May 2, 1936 the son of Ralph Freeze and Ida Helen (Barlow) Shannon.
At 10 years old he moved stateside with his family to Groveton. Fred was raised in Groveton and Stark and was a 1954 graduate of Groveton High School. He served in the National Guard and later the US Navy where he was a radioman on the SSK Cavalla 244. For 44 years he was employed at the Groveton Paper Mill. He worked in various jobs there over the years and retired in the maintenance department.
Fred had many things in life he enjoyed. He loved to hunt and fish, look for critters with his friend John and most of all spend time with his grandchildren. He was an accomplished musician and played several instruments but was best known for his guitar, especially playing bluegrass with his friend Vic.
He was a member and past master of the Benton Lodge #88 F.&A.M. and also served as past District Deputy Grand Master District #12.
Family members include his wife of 56 years Sandra Lee (Goad) Shannon of Guildhall; six children, Kathy Shannon of Groveton, Karie Bresnahan of Northumberland, Bradley Shannon of Guildhall, Lynn Bourgault of Ossippee, Brian Shannon of Guildhall, Brenden Shannon of Guildhall; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother Joe Shannon of Stark; three sisters, Mary Shannon of Lancaster, Helen Shannon of Delaware, Jean Fairweather of South Carolina and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased last March by a grandson Zach Shannon. He was also predeceased by
two brothers, Edwin Shannon Sr. of Stark and Otis Shannon of Groveton.

Gerry Piper, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Springfield, VT will officiate. A committal service with military honors will be held in the spring in Northumberland Cemetery.
DALTON – Frederick G. Mason
....show , 74, born on October 10, 1939 passed peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, daughter Debbie and grandson Michael at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on February 1, 2014 after a brief illness.
Fred has been a life-long resident of the Whitefield, Dalton area. He worked at Saunders Bros. sawmill in Dalton for 36 years. After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening. He was an avid Nascar fan.
His biggest joys in life were spending as much time as he would with his six grandchildren, his daughters and his wife of 32 years.
He also loved running his bait shop, Northwoods Bait in Dalton. At his request his wife and grandson are running the bait shop in his honor and will keep it open for the entire 2014 season.
His parents William and Roberta Mason and his son Allan Bryant predeceased him.

Mr. Ploss was born in Danvers, MA on October 20, 1959 the son of Charles and Maralyn (McKay) Ploss.

Gary moved to Northern New Hampshire at a young age and was a graduate of White Mountain Regional High School. After graduation he enlisted in the Army. Upon Gary’s discharge from the Army he found employment as a master carpenter and had last worked with Tile Etc. When Gary was not working he enjoyed playing drums and guitar and played in a local band named Black Sunrise. He also enjoyed hunting and bike riding during his free time.

LUNENBURG – Gary W. Damiani

Gary was born in Waterbury, CT, on June 5, 1941 the son of A. William Damiani and Lillias (Hurlbut) Damiani.
He was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed projects at home. Gary preferred a simple life and organic cooking for a healthier lifestyle. He also enjoyed hiking and spending time on the internet.
He is survived by two brothers, Donald Damiani of Cheshire, CT and Bruce Damiani of Waterbury, CT.

JEFFERSON – George W. Jordan
....show , 93, of Turnpike Road, died Wednesday June 11, 2014 at the Littleton Regional Hospital.
Mr. Jordan was born in Marshall, Texas on September 6, 1920 the son of George W. Jordan Sr. and Anna Naomi Donaldson Jordan. He was a graduate of Punchard High School in Andover, MA and earned a BA at Morehouse College in Atlanta.
George was a World War II veteran and served as a Captain in the US Army Quarter Master Corp. He went on to a long career with the US Treasury Department as a Special Investigator for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. During his career he also had the occasional opportunity to serve with the Secret Service at the White House. A distinction he was very proud of.
George was a photographer and enjoyed reading and flying. He earned a pilot’s license which gave him the opportunity to fly private planes at his leisure. For a time he was also a college professor.
He was a good Christian man and was a Communicant of the Catholic Church and member of the Knights of Columbus.
Remembered as a good family man and parent George is survived by his wife Emmaline “Amy” (Bohannon) Jordan of Jefferson; three children Achille Edward Jordan of Tucson, AZ, Blanche J. Skurnick MD of Englewood, NJ, Gail Naomi Jordan of Sewell, NJ; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A daughter Cheryl F. Jordan predeceased him.
Friends may visit at Bailey Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Tuesday morning June 17th. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM in All Saints Church, Lancaster. LANCASTER – Georgia I. Libby Fraser
....show , 95, of Lancaster passed away Monday afternoon December 30, 2013 at the Lafayette Center in Franconia.
Mrs. Fraser was born in Lancaster on June 21, 1918 the sixth child of Annie E. Butcher Libby of Plymouth, England and Franklin B. Libby of Portland, Maine.
On Thanksgiving Day the 26th day of November 1936 she married Kenneth F. Fraser Sr., the son of Berthia Ross and James A. Fraser. They were married at St. Paul’s Church in Lancaster by the Reverend Richard P. McChuitock.
Georgia took care of others all her life. She loved quilting and made quilts for all her children and grandchildren. She won many blue ribbons at the Lancaster Fair for her handy work. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, flowers, knitting, making dolls, Christmas puddings and keeping photos in albums.
She was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and belonged to the Ladies Guild. She was also a 55 year member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving family members include six children Kenneth F. Fraser Jr. and his wife Linda of Lancaster, Marilyn Fraser Ayer of Arizona, May E. Fraser Sampson and her husband Paul of Lancaster, James O. Fraser and wife Linda of Concord, NH and Florida; Allen R. Fraser and his wife Val of Hill, NH, Donald R. Fraser and wife Chris of Lancaster; 15 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Sr.; a son-in-law Jack Ayer; two grandchildren; and siblings Herbert Libby, Cecil Libby, Edgar Libby, Owen Libby, Minnie Libby Brown, and Bill Libby.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening January 2, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Friday morning at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Church, Lancaster. Burial will be in the spring in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
Hazel Savage 89 of Lancaster
....show , died on September 14, 2014 at home with her Family. Mrs. Savage was born in Northumberland on April 15, 1925. The youngest daughter of John A. Currier and Jennie L. (Hill) Currier.
They had twelve children. She is survived by her brother Fred Currier of Lancaster. Hazel and Gilman were marred on Hazels birthday April 15, 1943. They had six wonderful children, 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
She loved her family very much. Hazel was a Dairy Farmer and Homemaker and could use the hay kicker better than her husband and sons.
When Hazel was 14 she went to work in Colebrook to cook, clean and take care of a family of 5 children for a $1 a day.
She met Gilman and they were together for 70 yrs. When they got married her father said it wouldn’t last 6 months.
Hazel loved her family dearly especially her children and was so happy when her daughters were born. She hated what drinking and money did to people and thought it was the root of all evil.
The Currier family where carpenters and painters and wallpaperers. Hazel was no exception; she loved to decorate, paint and paper her home and was always changing curtains. She loved flowers and cooking.
Making donuts that everyone loved and donut men that every grandchild was treated with each time they were made. Another specialty of Hazels was her homemade mac & cheese.
When you sat at Hazel’s table you were sure to be polite and always wash your hands, take your hats off and never reach over anyone’s plate. She played Barbies with her grand daughters as long as they kept their clothes on. She didn’t like the way girls and women dressed today and would tell them that the cloths made for young girls these days were hideous and if they dressed like that they were told to get their butts back in the house and change to look like a young sophisticated lady.
Her Grandsons couldn’t resist a home cooked meal by gram whether they had already eaten or not but were always taught to wash their hands, remove their hats and keep their pants pulled up.
One of them would even throw a fit until he got his way every time he went past the house to go and have dinner or a hot coco whether he had eaten or not. She looked forward to her phone calls and visits with Louise, her life long friend.
Along with her visits with Sharon and brother Fred Currier. Hazel’s health started to decline about 6 or 7 yrs ago when she couldn’t go too far.
This summer her oldest daughter Sharon got to take her places that she use to go. She was so happy and looked forward to her weekends and spending time with her family. Hazel was very proud of her children; grandchildren, and great grandchildren, family was everything to her. Hazel will be missed very much by everyone that knew her.
Hazel was predeceased by her oldest son Richard Savage in February of 1989. Richard was awarded the Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam. Her husband Gilman Bradley Savage, a very proud Dairy Farmer, also predeceased her in January of 2013. Other surviving family members include her second son Edward Savage and wife Loretta, their two daughters Wendy Berkowitz and Husband Dana along with their three children Justin and Girlfriend Whitney, Quintin and Camden of Vermont; and Sharney with her children Dustin, Brendan, and Mindy with son Dominic all of Vermont.
Hazel’s third Son Daniel Savage and wife Jessie of Lancaster. Their children include Danny Jr. and his fiancé' Shayna Raymond with their children Kaydren, Kandrah, and John; Shawn Savage and his children Dominic and Makayla; Emily Savage and boyfriend Jason Ruggles and son Carson.
Johnathan Savage and wife Vanessa; Carol Savage and Fiancé' David Thurston along withchildren Keagan and Tristan; Bradley Savage and Stacey Savage. Hazel’s oldest daughter Sharon Savage of Plymouth, NH.
Hazels youngest son Bruce Savage and wife Robin of Lancaster, their children Bruce Savage II and girlfriend Emma Bussiere, Matthew Savage, Lindsey Savage, T J Fontaine and wife Tiesha, Savanah Turgeon and boyfriend Jimmy Samson, Barbara Swift and husband Josh.
Bruce and Robins grandchildren Bailey Lucian Fontaine, Seth Joseph Savage, Hailey Alyssa Savage, Kyliegh Rose Swift, Logan Jeffery Turgeon and Samantha Lee Turgeon. Hazel’s youngest Daughter Jennie Lund and Husband Robert with sons Kory and Dylan.

Helen Carter Goodwin
....show of St. Johnsbury, Vermont passed away on May 14th, 2014 at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, New Hampshire after a period of declining health. She was 91 years old.
She was the daughter of Levi Hubbard Carter and Ruth Ward Carter of Gilman, Vermont born in March 1923. She attended Dalton High School walking six miles to and from school from her home in Gilman, Vermont.
She worked in the Gilman Paper Mill during World War II. She married Oral Goodwin in 1951 and they lived in Hartford, Connecticut for a time until moving to Gilman, and then St. Johnsbury, Vermont. She is predeceased by her husband and one son, Lance Carter Goodwin.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Virginia DiMaria and Marjorie Brunette, her brothers, Lester Dixon and Clifford W. Carter, Sr. She is survived by her brother, Richard G. Carter, of South Burlington, Vermont, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Helen K. Gessner
....show ,93 passed away peacefully early Easter morning at the Weeks Hospital in Lancaster, NH.
Helen was born in Fitchburg, MA on the first day ofSpring, March 20, 1921. Her parents, John E. and Lisa Hemlin, were hard working and industrious immigrants from Finland and she was one of ten siblings raised in Ashby, MA. An excellent student who taught herself how to read and write Finnish, Helen was also stickler for proper use of English grammar and spelling. Helen met Stanton J. Gessner when he was stationed at Fort Devens ,MA prior to his WWII overseas deployment. They married August 11, 1945 following his return from his service.
Helen was employed as a cook for in the Lancaster school system and subsequently as an office clerk at Timberland Machines, Inc. in Lancaster. She volunteered at the Weeks Library and the United Methodist Church. Her interests included reading, cooking and raising raspberries. She was the main cook at most family gatherings, a whiz at crossword puzzles anda strong advocate foreducational opportunities available to family and friends. An avid exerciser, Helen enjoyed daily long walks in all seasons for over a decade with her neighbor and good friend, Rita Whipple.
Following the death of her husband in 1996, Helen moved to Hurley, NY to be closer to family. In 2011 she returned to Coos County becoming a resident at the Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, NH. There she continued to demonstrate her humility, foreign language skills and wonderful sense of humor.
Helen is pre-deceased by her husband and siblings. She is survived by two sons; Dr. James and Ann Gessner of Boston, MA, with daughters Sarah Gessner, Hartford, CT and Abigail Gessner, Boston, MA. Dr. William and Judith Gessner ofWhitefield, NH and their sons, Christopher, his wife Cara Gessner and three month old Isabella of Guangzhou, China and Eric Gessner of Salt Lake City UT. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside ceremony will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster, NH. Rev. Richard Boyden, pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster, will officiate. Interment will be followed by a brief reception at the United Methodist Church in Lancaster.

Mrs. Benson was born in Springfield,MA on October 30, 1926 the daughter of Clarence and Myrtle (Dygert) Austin.
Raised in Springfield she was a graduate of the Springfield High School of Commerce. For a time she resided in East Long Meadow, MA before moving to New Hampshire. For 18 years she lived in Lisbon and then relocated to Lancaster in 1991.
Jacqueline enjoyed painting and was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary Forest Park VFW 7352, Springfield, MA.
Family members include two sons, Clark Benson and his wife Valerie of Lancaster, Larry Benson and his wife Shari of Littleton; a daughter Carla Cooper and her husband Jim of Springfield, MA; 5 grandchildren, Heather Kline, SSGT Todd A. Forward (Ret.), Christopher Benson, Katherine Cullen, Patrick Cullen; and 5 great-grandchildren Nicholas, Harley, Ashley, Emily, Tyler. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph A. Benson in 2004 and a sister Elizabeth Anderson.

Beloved wife of the late Ralph Selby Anderson (6/20/2005) whom she had married in 1946. Dear mother of Margaret (Hugh) Smith of Arizona, Eric (Janet) Anderson of Stevensville, MI, Christina (Ray) MacLean of Davison and Jill (Kim) Calhoun of Grosse Ile, MI; loving grandmother of 11 and great-grandmother of 12; sister of Cecily Jones of White Haven, PA. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Freeman.
Jean attended Boundbrook High School in New Jersey, Swathmore College and Michigan State University, obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in 1969 and her Master’s Degree in 1974. She taught special education for Brighton Schools from 1969 until retirement in 1988. She was a Girl Scout Troup leader; member of Ashley’s Friends and Friends of the Library in Howell. She loved birding, motorhome traveling throughout the United States with her husband, Ralph of 59 years; visiting family and friends and spending time in their summer home in New Hampshire. Jean was an avid MSU fan and attended the 1987 Rose Bowl. She resided with her daughter, Christina and son-in-law, Ray at the time of her death.

WHITEFIELD – Joan M. Kopp
....show , 91, of Hall Road, died peacefully at her home Friday morning November 21, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Kopp was born in Freeport, Long Island, NY on May 15, 1923 the daughter of Raymond and Grace (Holmes) Malone. She was raised in Freeport and graduated from Freeport High School in 1941. Furthering her schooling she later worked as a draftsman for Columbia Aircraft in Valley Stream, Long Island.
On July 1, 1945 she married Alexander Kopp and moved to Whitefield in 1947 to raise their family away from the city. For a year they owned and operated the Spruces Hotel and later purchased a farm house on Hall road providing continued accommodations to guests. Al went on to establish North Country Ford in Lancaster. Joan taught ceramics in Whitefield and had her own shop for five years. She was a ceramics artist selling her work at gift shops such as the Cog Railway and special orders including gold leaf eagles for offices in the Pentagon and the large nativity at St. Matthew's church in Whitefield.
She was a Communicant of St. Matthews Church in Whitefield and was a member of the Central NH Model T Club. A favorite hobby was making beautiful handmade braided rugs for her family.
She will be dearly missed by her two daughters Kathleen Kopp of Whitefield, Sally Anne Maroon and husband Bob of Whitefield and Boothbay Harbor, ME, and daughter in law, Mary Kopp of Lancaster; a sister Mary Eileen Ahern of Whitefield; 5 grandchildren Michael Kopp and wife Sharon of Lancaster, Keith Kopp and wife Amy of Lancaster, Allison Marro and Steve Kenison of Lancaster, Ethan Marro and wife Alexandra of Pepperell, MA, and Casey Maroon and wife Sarah of Whitefield and Boothbay Harbor ME, eight great-grandchildren, as well as her wonderful caregivers. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 and a half years, Alexander in 2009, her son Kevin Kopp in 2013, and brother Raymond Malone of Freeport, Long Island, NY.

....show died unexpectedly on December 31, 2013 in Lancaster, NH at the age of 57. John was born on June 10, 1956 the son of Clifford Kenney and Rita (Bragg) Kenney of Twin Mountain.
John was raised in Twin Mountain and attended local schools. He worked in construction and also in the manufacturing field.
For many years John lived in Lincoln moving to Lancaster in 2012.
He leaves a sister Judy and her husband Dennis Hammond of Lancaster; a half brother Denis Skora and his wife Dru and family of Lancaster; nephews Clifford Whiting Jr. and his wife Tonya and family of North Concord, VT; John Allin II and his companion Jennifer Taylor and family of Berlin, VT; a niece Amy Landry and companion Craig Clemmer and family of Lancaster and many cousins.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in St. Margaret’s Cemetery, Twin Mountain, in the spring.

LANCASTER – John S. Cardinal
....show , 92, of Holton Park, died Tuesday afternoon July 15, 2014 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mr. Cardinal was born in Conway, NH on December 25, 1921 the son of Fred and Isabel (Gordon) Cardinal.
Raised in Conway he was a 1941 graduate of Kennett High School. During WWII he served the Pacific Theater with the US Marine Corps. He attained a Purple Heart when wounded in action during the battle of Okinawa.
On January 1, 1947 he came to Lancaster for on the job training with Thompson Manufacturing and was a machinist with them for 6 years. He then worked 14 years as delivery man for Cushman Baking Company, Portland, Maine, making deliveries throughout the North Country. From there he worked many years at Groveton Paper Company until his retirement.
John was a Communicant of St. Paul’s Church, Lancaster where he served as a former Jr. Warden.
Memberships include the John W. Weeks Post #3041 and the Lancaster Historical Society.
Surviving family members include his wife Constance (Rines) Cardinal of Lancaster; a son William J. Cardinal of Lancaster; a daughter Charlotte Sweeney of Venice, FL; and a grandson Benjamin Cardinal.

GILMAN – Josephine Helen Cantin Ball
....show , 82, of Commercial Avenue, died May 13, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Ball was born in Lancaster on March 17, 1932 the daughter William Charles and Anna Elizabeth (Hardy) Cantin.
Josephine was a member of the Gilman Senior Citizens where she volunteered much of her time. She was a member of the ALTA & Rosary Society since the 1960’s. She was a certified exercise instructor for the Vermont Department of Health and taught the Strong Living Program. The program promoted wellness for all ages building healthy communities thru physical activity. She served on the committee to take back Gilman Fire Department for the town of Lunenburg and was a 4-H instructor. In the 1960’s she operated a wedding cake business called Jo’s Wedding Cakes. For two years she was president of the Gilman-Lunenburg Altar Society.
Josephine was mother not only to her own children but to many others, especially her nieces and nephews.
Her husband Myrlin Richard Roy Ball Sr. predeceased her in 1998.
Surviving family members include three sons, Myrlin R.R. Ball Jr. and his wife Gail of Lunenburg, James David Ball and his wife Joan of Gilman, Alan Thomas Ball and his wife Jolene of Highgate Center, VT; a daughter Anna Marie Ball Charlebois and her husband Raymond of St. Augustine, FL; two brothers, Harland Cantin of Guildhall, Leonard Cantin of East Haven; her best friend James B. Messer Sr. of Gilman; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by four brothers, Phillip Cantin, William Cantin, Arnold Cantin, Wallace Baker and two sisters, Virginia Caron and Madeline Rosebrook.

GILMAN – Joseph Roch Rodrique Bourbeau
....show , 68 of 29 Jefferson Ave., died at this home after a very long illness, Saturday morning February 15, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Bourbeau was born in Grand Mere Quebec, PQ, Canada on March 28, 1945 the son of Lucien J. and Gisele M. (Pothier) Bourbeau.
Joe was raised in Canada until immigrating to Northern Vermont in his early teenage years. He worked at Roberts Motor Sales in Lancaster as an auto reconditioner and later at Nuroco Woodworking in Whitefield as a furniture maker. Joe was also employed at St. Johnsbury Fire Department as a fireman. During his time there he rescued many kitties. His later years he was employed at the Gilman Paper/Georgia Pacific/Simpson Paper for 25 years as a paper maker and worked in various departments. He was a “Jack of all trades” doing many side jobs from painting, carpentry, auto mechanics, cooking and various other things. He also volunteered at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster and the AVH Hospital in Berlin.
Joe loved outdoor activities that included flower gardening, camping, hunting, fishing, bird watching, attending Native Pow-Wow’s, walking in the woods, country western music and most of all rocking the new babies of the family.
"Booboo" is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn (Markham) of Gilman; his son Joshua Matthew of Gilman; his daughter, Cecelia Louise and her children Pacey and Logan of Austin, Texas; his daughter Michelle Carolyn and her husband David M. DeMontigny and their children Cassandra and Christopher of Gorham; his daughter, Elaine Marie and her husband John Fuller of Lunenburg and their children Jonathan and Thomas; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister Luce and her children, Tony and Nancy Boisvert of Hull Quebec, PQ; a brother, Allen and his wife Judy of Waterford and their children Danielle (Drogalis) and Denise (Moses); several cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends and lastly but not least Joe’s beloved feline friend and companion ”Baby” aka Solo.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother Pierre and a granddaughter Celena Michelle DeMontigny.

Mrs. Elgin was born one of seven children in Keyser, WV on January 20, 1947 the daughter of Theodore W. and Betty J. (Stocker) Rosier.
For 39 years she worked as an LPN and for many years resided in Florida. In July of 1990 she married Joseph C. Elgin in Amarillo, TX. They moved to Lancaster, NH in 1991 and to Dalton, NH in 1996.
In her free time, she enjoyed reading, playing video games, spending time outdoors and playing with her cats. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Family members include two sons Teddy Johnson of Concord, NH, Shane Johnson of Goffstown, NH; grandchildren Amanda, Brittany, Kristen, Liam and step-grandchildren Melissa, Christian, Rosie. Joe predeceased her in 1996.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 29 at 11:00 AM in the Cushman Cemetery in Dalton. Reverend Donald Williams of Lancaster will officiate.
LANCASTER – Kevin J. Truland
....show , 58, of Middle Street, died Monday evening May 12, 2014 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by family and friends.
Mr. Truland was born in Lancaster on July 5, 1955 the son of Daniel J. and Shirley (Moulton) Truland. He was raised in Lancaster and served a 20 career with the United States Air Force. During that time he was stationed in Lackland, Texas, Bolixi, Mississippi, Wurtsmith, Michigan, Loring AFB, Maine and Kadena Air Base in Okinawa. Returning home worked at Martin’s Agway in Lancaster for 5 years.
Kevin’s interests included building and flying radio controlled airplanes, basket making and Harley Davidson motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Colleen E. (Corrigan) Truland of Lancaster; his son Matthew K. Truland of Lebanon; three brothers, Bruce Truland and wife Yao of Lancaster, Earl Truland and wife Sharon of Riverhead, NY, Alan Truland of Magalloway, Maine; three sisters, Lynnette Siteman and husband Frank of Winchester, MA, Maureen Ingerson of Lancaster, Kathy Truland of Lancaster and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.

Mr. Eastman was born in Lancaster on February 5, 1960 the son of Lee E. Eastman Sr. and Constance (Whitcomb) Eastman.
Raised in Lancaster Skip was a graduate of White Mountain Regional High School and later attended the Thompson School at UNH.
He had a vast knowledge of the outdoors, construction and mechanics.
With this knowledge he worked most of his life as a self-employed builder.
He was also a caretaker and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His pride and joy was his hunting camp.
He built it himself and loved spending as much time as he could there.
Family members include his long time companion of 25 years Denise Desjardins of Jefferson; his daughter Lindsay Cote and her husband Jake of Lancaster; his mother Constance Eastman of Lancaster; his 2 year old grandson Braeden Cote; three sisters, Tawnya Finkel and her husband Ned, Tamra Eastman and her husband Scott Cramer, Trisha Eastman and her husband Ken Bolland; three nieces, Abby Finkel, Molly Finkel, Hanna Rivard and a nephew Joshua Rivard.
He was predeceased by his father Dr. Lee E. Eastman Sr. in 2008.
There are no visiting hours.
A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon December 28, at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Lancaster.
Reverend Brendan Whittaker will officiate.

DALTON - Leo G. Richard
....show , 84, of Bridge Hill Road, died Sunday afternoon June 15, 2014 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mr. Richard was born in Gardiner, MA on January 17, 1930 the son of Alyre and Anita “Bonnie” (Gerard) Richard.
During his lifetime Leo has been a dedicated construction worker and truck driver. For 20 years he was employed with Pike Industries and almost another 20 with Currier Trucking. He also worked for the NH State Highway department as a patrolman. He patrolled throughout the North Country including the Franconia Notch Parkway.
Travelling in his RV was one of his favorite pastimes. He once drove from Prince Edward Island to California. The Amish country was another favorite stop. Other interests included bird watching and bicycle repair. Leo was known as “The Bike Man” and for many years operated Leo’s Repair Shop from his home. He also enjoyed watching TV and visiting with friends. He liked telling stories to make people laugh and keep them guessing.
He loved animals in general especially dogs. He will be missed by his beloved companion Princess who was always by his side during his illness.
Family members include his wife Mearline “Jill” (Tillotson) Richard of Dalton; his children Leo “Jerry” Richard and wife Nancy of Tucson, AZ, Thomas Richard of Ramona, CA, Carol Annie Richard of Chambersburg, PA, Doreen Brado and husband Barry of Dalton; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Annette Lee of Manchester, NH, Gloria Wilson of Groveton, Pat Gamache of Manchester, NH, Marylou Stafford of Littleton; his close friend Mike Osgood and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Marjorie Vigenault of Manchester, NH.
A funeral service will be held Saturday morning June 21, at 11:00 AM at Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Reverend Diane Raymond, pastor of the Dalton Congregational Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Cushman Cemetery, Dalton.
LANCASTER - Leola I. Sheptor
....show passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014, at the age of 96 at The Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, NH after a lengthy illness.
She was born on June 30, 1918, in Lancaster, the daughter of Theodore Vashaw and Zella (Morin) Vashaw Tripp. She was a lifelong resident of Lancaster until 2007 when she moved to The Morrison due to her illness.
She attended Lancaster Schools and Graduated from Lancaster Academy in 1936. She worked for the NH Highway Office until her marriage to John Sheptor of Berlin in November of 1948. In 1960 they welcomed their first child, a son, into their home and she began her most favorite career as mother and homemaker. In 1962 they were again blessed and welcomed into their home a second child, a daughter. She was a wonderful wife, mother, nana, great-nana, aunt, and friend who will never be forgotten by her family and friends.
She was very active at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lancaster and was President of the Churchwomen’s Group for over 25 years.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband John on March 12, 1978, her brothers Randall Vashaw, Clarence “Coo” Vashaw, and Richard Tripp.
She is survived by her son, John C. Sheptor and wife Tiba Parsa of Bethesda, MD; her daughter Cindy Sheptor Winget and husband Don of Lancaster; her grandchildren Jennifer Sheptor Attila and husband Selly of Virginia Beach, VA; John Michael Sheptor and wife Emma of Kansas City, MO; Stephen Sheptor and wife Hallie of Kansas City, MO; Sarah Sheptor of Columbia, MO; Briana Sheptor of Lancaster; Alyssa Sheptor of Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Vitoria Sheptor of Sao Paulo, Brazil, great-granddaughter, Zoe Lewis of Virginia Beach, VA; sister-in-law, Ruth Tripp of Largo, FL; brother in-law Fred Smith and wife Julie of Berlin; brother in-law Edward Kowalewski of Glen Bernie, MD; her best friend Ronnie Gardner, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

GROVETON - Leon G. Dupuis
....show , 89, formerly of 26 Main Street, died at Riverside Rest Home in Dover, NH on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from kidney disease. Fortunately he experienced no pain from the disease. His loving wife, Milanie Dupuis predeceased him in March 2012. They were married for 61 years. Born and raised in Berlin, NH, his parents Philias and Leona Dupuis of Groveton predeceased Leon. He was born on December 21, 1924 in Berlin, NH. During his early life, he was an avid summer and winter outdoor enthusiast, athlete and sportsman. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 to fight in World War II. After marriage, he and his wife settled in Groveton where he continued working at the Groveton mill. They brought up five children in Groveton. They were active members of the St. Francis Xavier Church and active in community school activities. About 50 years ago, he was one of the principal organizers of the St. Francis Annual Penny Sale and served as the Master of Ceremony for the first few years of the event. He played ball on the Groveton softball league, was an active outdoor enthusiast; and frequently enjoyed hunting and trout and salmon fishing in Canada, Alaska and in the United States with his sons and friends. He especially enjoyed frequent rounds of golf with his sons and grandchildren, and held various golf memberships at Waumbek, Mountain View Resort and Bethlehem where he played in various membership events for seniors until he was in his early 80s.After serving in the paper industry for over 45 years, he retired from James River Corporation in December 1988 from a leadership position. He was well known for his calm demeanor, great senses for respect and humor, love of family and life, and bringing out the positive aspects of any challenge.
His greatest passions in life were traveling with his wife and family, and being with family as much as possible. He enjoyed attending all activities that his children and grandchildren participated in; always making an effort to be there in support of their endeavors. After the passing of his beloved wife, he resided with his son James and his wife Diane at their home in Barrington, NH for over a year where he was able to continue the frequent interactions and special events with family. His daughter, Nancy, provided care during this time. In June 2013 he became a resident of the Riverside Rest Home where he received exceptional care and became known for sharing his exceptionally positive attitude about life with others from the home. Over the years and until the week prior to his passing, he frequently enjoyed playing his favorite game of cribbage and 500.
Surviving him are his son James and his wife Diane of Barrington, NH, son Daniel Leon and his wife Wanda of Ocean City, MD, daughter Nancy and her husband Gilbert Major of Andover, MA, son Gary and his wife Elena of Amherst, MA, and son Peter and his wife Julie of Milford, NH; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His brothers Ernest, Albert, Lionel and Norman, and sister Arlene predeceased him.

GUILDHALL, VT – Leslie B. Menzies
....show , 100, passed away peacefully December 22, 2013 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen surrounded by his family.
Les was born in Manchester, NH on October 19, 1913 to William B. Menzies and Zella M. (Adams) Menzies.
He received his education in the public schools of Manchester, Boise, Idaho, Goffstown, NH, and Concord, NH graduating from Concord High School in 1932.
There he was a member of the Track & Field Teams and a member of the State Champion Cross Country teams in 1930 and 1931.
While still in high school he joined the NH National Guard and served in the 197th
Coast Artillery Headquarters Battery.
This unit saw service in the Amoskeag Mill riots in Manchester.
He is best remembered for his boxing ability in the 1930’s as undefeated Golden Glove and Diamond Belt Champion in the Light-Heavyweight Division.
He joined the Concord, NH Police Department in April 1936 and in 1937 became the first Trooper to enlist in the newly created Department of State Police.
He had a long and distinguished career of over 34 years with the State Police, retiring in 1972 with the rank of Lieutenant.
In 1940 he became New Hampshire’s first recipient of the Medal of Valor as a result of a shoot-out with a holdup murderer in Swanzey.
In 1941 he was awarded the first Valor-Honor Bar by the New England Police Revolver League.
Around 1950, with the Departments Backing, he set up a police training school in Henniker which was heavily attended by town and city police officers from central and southern NH.
At various times he also served as Troop Commander of Troops C in Keene and Troop F in Twin Mountain.
Promoted to Lieutenant in 1962 he was assigned to duty of setting up patrols on the newly created Interstate Highway System.
He served as Firearms Instructor for 22 years and was the Riot & Crowd Control Instructor and saw action in the riots of Hampton Beach and Weirs Beach in the 1960’s.
He was also Captain of the State Police Pistol Team.
After his retirement from the State Police he became Chief of Security for the NH State Legislature, retiring in 1983.
He then moved from Hopkinton to Guildhall, Vermont in 1985, where he resided 37 years.
He was a member of Harmony Lodge #38 F & AM of Hillsboro.
He had been a member of the National rifle Association since 1938.
Les was an avid hunter, fisherman and target shooter.
He loved sailing and built many of his own sailboats.
He and his wife Alice were members of the Winnipesaukee Yacht club for 30 years.
He also was an avid motorcyclist, beginning in the late 1920’s with a 1928 Harley-Davidson, and continued to ride into his 70’s.
He was predeceased by his wife Alice of 59 years in 2007.
He is survived by a sister Alice Beardsley of Aurora, Colorado; a daughter, Shirley Stemska of Goffstown, NH; a son Douglas Menzies and his wife Rose of Groveton; a daughter Patricia Guay and her husband Stephen of Hopkinton; 8 grandchildren, Jay, Robert, Heather, Jennifer, Abigail, Aaron, Eric and Autumn and 10 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Saturday December 28 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 210 Main Street, Lancaster, NH. Burial will take place in the Spring at the Ridgwell Cemetery in Guildhall, VT.

Mr. Dubois was born in Lawrence, MA on August 12, 1946 the son of Eugene and Lillian (Hamel) Dubois.
For many years he resided in Lawrence and worked as a mattress maker for Legget and Platt and later was manager of a cabinet warehouse for Merrimack Valley Wood Products. In the early 90’s he moved to Twin Mountain.
He is survived by two sisters Mary Vignault, Evelyn LaCroix; several nieces and nephews; and his lifelong friend Jay Ouellette and his wife Sue of Twin Mountain.
Visiting hours will be held Monday evening August 4th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A prayer service will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours. ....show , 88, of Turnpike Road, died Wednesday morning August 6, 2014 at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center, Lancaster, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Lauzon was born in St. Malo, Quebec, Canada on June 21, 1926 the daughter of Wilfred and Cora (Gagnon) Couture.
Louise was raised in Canada and in 1945 she married Henry J. Lauzon at St. Albert’s Church, Stewartstown, NH. For several years they resided in Groton, VT and for over 50 years she has lived in Jefferson. She worked in local shoe shops, the Saranac Glove Company, Manchester Knitting and retired from the Campbell Paper Company. She was a member of the Tabernacle Society and sang in the choir. She loved to sew and knit. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Family members include two sons Yvan Lauzon and wife Monique of Jefferson, Michael Lauzon and wife Shelley of Groton, VT; a daughter S. Marguerite Davis and husband Fred of Whitefield; two brothers, Jean-Paul Couture and Julien “Chick” Couture both of Jefferson; one sister, Ghislaine Dubois of Jefferson; fourteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Cora, a daughter Hugette Lauzon in 1959; a son Antonio Lauzon in 1998; and three brothers, Albert, Rosaire and Antonio Couture and sisters Josette Pelletier and Solange Couture.
She was a Communicant of St. Agnes Church, Jefferson and All Saints Church, Lancaster.

She was born in Lancaster, September 11, 1936, to George and Elizabeth (Kidman) Placey and brought up on the Brook Road where her father ran a sawmill for years. For the last 17 years she made her home with her caregivers, Peg and Andre Desautels of Lancaster, where she was loved as a family member.
She was predeceased by her parents and half-brother, Neil LaFlamme.
She is survived by a brother, James and his wife Jeanette of Lancaster, nieces and cousins.

Mrs. Fortin was lifetime resident of Lancaster born there on May 12, 1918 the daughter of Charles Sabin and Maryetta (Brown) Sedgell.
Maida was a homemaker who for many years assisted in the operations of the family dairy farm. She not only worked in the creamery but cooked the meals for her family and the farm hands. For a time she worked at the Lucas Tourist Home and for many years was secretary for the Summer Street Cemetery Association. She enjoyed knitting, cooking and gardening.
Family members include her daughter and son-in-law Renee and Royce Hutchinson of Lancaster and many nieces and nephews. Her husband John G. Fortin predeceased her in 1992. She was also predeceased by her twin sister Roxadelle Placey, a brother Charles Sedgell and a sister Lillian Lucas.

Mrs. Clapp was born in Hanau/Main, Germany on November 11, 1939 the daughter of Willi and Katharine (Koch) Stein.
Margarete was predeceased by her parents and husband Alvin Russell Clapp who died in September of 2011. She is survived by a son Steven Clapp of Virginia; two daughters Heike Dani and Christa Clapp both of Germany.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lancaster on Tuesday May 20th at 1:00 PM. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Summer Street Cemetery.

LANCASTER – Margaret E. “Peggy” Guilmette
....show , 79, of Holton Park, died after a sudden illness Sunday evening April 27, 2014 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, surrounded by her loving family.
Miss Guilmette was born in Lancaster on October 5, 1934 the daughter of Reynold and Margaret (Preston) Guilmette. She devoted her life to education and was a long time teacher and reading specialist. In 1956 she acquired her Bachelor of Education degree from Keene State College. She taught in several different grades in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and New York. From there she acquired a Master in Education from the University of Maine and took advanced reading courses from the NDEA Institute of Advanced Study in Reading, the University of New Hampshire and the University of Rhode Island. She was certified as a Reading Specialist in 1966.
Peggy was a reading specialist for the White Mountain Regional School District for many years and retired in 2001. She was very involved in many of the State of New Hampshire reading committees including the Granite State Council of International Reading, NEA, NHEA, WMEA, Frameworks and Language Arts Content Committee for state tests in grades 3, 6 and 10 and Treasurer for the North Country Reading Association. She served as a member, chairperson and co-chairperson in many of these organizations. She was also active in her sorority Delta Kappa Gamma serving as president and secretary as well as the chair for their 50th anniversary in 1993.
After retirement she was a volunteer at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster and the Lancaster School. Peggy was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox.
She was a devoted Communicant of the Gate of Heaven Parish serving on the Parish Council and was chairperson of CCD for 3 years. She was also a long time member of the Tabernacle Society.
Surviving family members include two brothers, Peter J. Guilmette Sr. of Greensboro, NC, Richard Guilmette of Intervale, NH; a sister Mary Fitch of Maidstone, VT; 11 nieces and nephews, Peter J. Guilmette Jr. of Chelmsford, MA, Alison Guilmette of Lexington, MA, Marilyn Foss of Guildhall, VT, Charles W. Fitch III of Lancaster, Patricia Rexford of Lancaster, John Fitch of Lancaster, Margaret Cliche of Lancaster, Rick Guilmette of Weare, Cindy Johnson of Bloomington, Illinois, Jim Guilmette of Hopkinton, Beth Key of Cincinnati, Ohio; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Margaret Carr
....show passed away on Sunday, April 13, in the gentle, loving care of the staff at The Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield. Family and friends kept constant vigil as she was tenderly eased to eternal life.
Margaret was born in Lancaster on April 28, 1911, the only daughter in a family of eight children born to Rollo and Jessie (Gallagher) Savage.
She attended the Great Rock School and graduated from Lancaster Academy, class of 1928. She worked at the Mountain View Grand Hotel in Whitefield before marriage to Richard Carr in 1932. They had been married 67 years when Richard died in 2000.
She was predeceased by an infant son, Richard William Carr, Jr. a daughter, Marilyn LaCroix , and a grandson, Daniel Wheeler, and by all seven of her brothers: Ernest, Arthur, Lyle, Sidney, Norman, Gilman and Leo.
She leaves a son, Allan Carr, of Lancaster, a daughter, Elizabeth Gilmore and her husband, Tony, of Hopkinton, and a son-in-law, Leon LaCroix, of Groveton, 11 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was active in the life of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lancaster and St. Timothy’s Chapel in Lost Nation, where she was married. At St. Paul’s she served as director and treasurer of the altar guild, taught Sunday school, served on the vestry and was president and secretary of the St. Paul’s Churchwomen.
She was a member of the Merry Homemakers’ Extension group and was chosen Homemaker of the Year for Coos County in 1993. She belonged to the Unity Club for over sixty years and was an active member of the Lancaster Historical Society.
Margaret loved her family and her town. For many years she was the local correspondent for the Coos County Democrat and took special pleasure in writing features about local history. Her correspondences were delivered to the Democrat in lovely, very readable, longhand throughout the years. She was also intensely interested in family history and gathered information and shared her knowledge and memories of this history with others.
In 1996 she was interviewed for a Fritz Wetherbee episode of “Up the Road”; was the 2001 Lancaster Fourth of July Parade Marshal; and was awarded the 2003 Most Distinguished Alumnus Award of Lancaster Academy at the annual reunion, honored for ‘taking an active part in keeping alumni informed of events of importance in the community and elsewhere’.

GUILDHALL – Marie Stevens Judge
....show , 90, died at the Country Village Nursing Home on January 23, 2015 surrounded by her family and friends.
Marie was born in Epsom, NH on September 10, 1924 and was the oldest of three daughters of Edgar and Ruth (Pike) Stevens. She moved to Lancaster, NH in 1938 with her family, attended Lancaster Academy, was employed at Frank Smith’s and later was introduced to the love of her life, Wayne Judge, on a blind date (orchestrated by none other than Dick Monahan). After marriage they took up residence at the Judge Farm in Guildhall, Vermont where they raised their family and her roots remained for over 70 years. Wayne predeceased her in 1979.
In her day she was active in Eastern Star and was an honorary Worthy Matron of the Willena Benton Chapter in Guildhall, the Guildhall Community Church, the Guildhall School Board, the Busy Beavers 4-H Club. She was always on a committee for various fund raisers, hunter suppers and charitable events, her biggest event was being involved in the Guildhall’s 200th
bicentennial celebration. She worked for many years as a waitress and hostess at the Lancaster Motel, the Mountain View and later at the Lancaster Diner.
For many years she was the bus driver for the Guildhall School, driving and maintaining her own bus. Many a story she would tell of “pikin” off a partridge with the bumper of the bus on her way home from delivering her kids to school. She made an awesome partridge pie (it took about 8 hits to feed a family of seven).
She loved cooking, gardening, flowers, birds, nature and the outdoors. Preserving natures beauty was a hobby she enjoyed by collecting and pressing flowers, ferns, leaves and butterfly wings which she crafted into lamp shades and picture frames to give as gifts. She loved game shows, eating chocolate, popcorn and playing skip-bo, but her favorite all time treat was eating lobster whenever possible!
She loved people and had a great sense of humor, but mostly she loved her family. She leaves behind her five children, William Judge and wife Susan of Wakefield, NH; Kendall Judge and wife Dorothy of Dillingham, AK; Bonnie Judge of Guildhall, VT; Steven Judge and wife Carrie of Kenai, AK; Wesley Judge and wife Janet of Buxton, ME; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Judge, Valerie Gainer, Joshua Judge, Geanina Shillings, Alec Judge, Shane Judge, Gregory Judge, Erin Judge and 6 great-grandchildren. Marie was predeceased by her sisters Laura Stevens Gonyer, Madeline Stevens Jenkins and three grandchildren, Ryan and Heather Judge and Trapheme Angason.
There will be no calling hours at Marie’s request. She wished to be remembered as you knew and loved her. A celebration of her life will be held at the Whitefield Christian Church, 3 School Street, on Saturday evening, February 7
th at 5:00 PM. Reverend Lou Going, pastor, will officiate. A reception will follow at the Church for family and friends. Burial will be at a later date at the Ridgwell Cemetery in Guildhall.

Marita was predeceased by two husbands, Richard Anthony Campbell; and Morris Meacham.
Marita leaves behind one son, Scott Campbell and his wife Ellen; five grandchildren, Nicholette; Anthony; Alexander; William; and Christopher. She also leaves behind many cherished friends at the McKee Inn as well as her beloved caregivers from Northwoods Home Health.

LANCASTER – Marlene K. Cocchi
....show , 75, former longtime Lancaster resident, died Friday morning February 21, 2014 at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center. She has been a resident there for approximately 10 years.
Marlene was born in Charlestown, MA on May 6, 1938 the daughter of Milan F. and Marian (Fitchette) Creaser.
She was raised in Massachusetts but resided most of her life in Lancaster. Marlene had many interests including country music and scouting weekend yard sales. She collected many types of knick knacks including her favorites, little pigs.
Marlene enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She was also an animal lover and her favorite companions where her cats Sparky and Tammy.
Family members include her daughter and son-in-law Brenda J. Pineo and Harold of Littleton; a sister Barbara A. McGee of Pepperell, MA; a granddaughter Shaina A. Tiews of Littleton; a grandson Michael E. LaBonte of Littleton; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her parents predeceased her.
There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held Wednesday afternoon February 26, at 1:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Burial will be at a later date in the Cushman Cemetery, Dalton.
Mary Brown
....show , aged 86 years, died at Country Village in Lancaster, NH on January 16, 2014 following several years of declining health. Born May 11, 1927, she was the daughter of Ronald and Dorothy Perham. She had a happy childhood in Groveton, even through the Depression years, making many life-long friends. Just before her senior year, her family moved to Lisbon, where she lived for nearly 60 years.
During her adult life Mary worked as a bookkeeper in Lisbon’s PSNH office. She raised her daughter, Andrea, taught Sunday School, helped with Girl Scouts, sewed, knitted, and developed her many talents of piano playing, writing, drawing, and painting. She was thrilled by parties, celebrations, and entertaining.
In the early 1960’s she met John Brown III, a teacher in Lisbon, and they were married in 1964. During their 48 years together, they golfed, fished, listened to music, went to movies, cooked wonderful meals, participated in productions of the Upstage Players, and spent as much time as they could at their Maine camp, which became a gathering place for neighbors, friends, and a growing family.
As they aged, the Browns moved to Lancaster to be closer to Andrea and her husband David, who wanted to participate in their care. As Mary and John required more assistance, they moved to Holton Point in Lancaster.
Mary is predeceased by her husband John, her parents, her brother Richard, her sisters Beverly and Marcia, and many cousins. Mary is survived by her daughter Andrea Craxton and husband David, her grandson Ronald Josselyn, her granddaughters-in-law Ivana Josselyn and Crissy McAllister, and her great grandchildren, Adam and Kaitlyn Josselyn; Mary's sister-in law Arlene Accavallo and husband Don from Rutland, VT, their granddaughter Brittney, and several of John's cousins. Other survivors include her brother David Perham and his wife Sue from West Palm Beach, FL; three nephews: Victor Snell and his wife Patricia from Bingham, ME and his stepchildren, Jeff Perham and his wife Heidi and their two sons from Alexandria, VA, Charlie Perham and his wife Crissy and their two sons from Las Vegas, NV; and one niece, Marta Clark from Lisbon, NH and her two children, Christopher and Elizabeth.
A memorial service will be held at the Congregational Church in Lancaster, NH on Saturday, January 25 at 11:00 a.m. Fellowship following the service will include a joyful display of Mary’s art and handiwork.

Mrs. Peavey was born in Maidstone, VT on April 22, 1933 the daughter of Louis Phillip Lamotte Sr. and Mildred C. (McGoff) Lamotte. She was raised in Guildhall and was a graduate of Lancaster Academy.
On June 20, 1958 she married Quentin Peavey of Lunenburg. For a time she worked for Bell Telephone Company in the Gilman, VT and Littleton offices. She served the town of Lunenburg for many years on the Lunenburg School Board. She also drove school bus and cooked at the Gilman Middle School. Mary also enjoyed cooking at home and loved her flower gardens.
Surviving family members include her two sons, Jeff Peavey and his wife Dana, Darren Peavey and his wife Debbie all of Lunenburg; three granddaughters Heather (Peavey) Pinsonneault, Hannah D. Peavey and Gracie Lyn Peavey; a grandson Quentin D. Peavey; two brothers Rod Lamotte of East St. Johnsbury, VT, Louis Lamotte of Lunenburg; three sisters, Rachel Nason of Tampa, FL and Hannibal, Missouri, Anna Fain of Tuttle, Oklahoma, and Ruby Lauber of Summerfield, FL. Her husband Quentin predeceased her on March 8, 2012. She was also predeceased by two infant children Gary and Tina; and a brother Philip Lamotte.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Friday evening April 11 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 11:00 AM at All Saints Church in Lancaster. Rev. Matthew Mason, pastor, will officiate. Mrs. Tillotson was born in Lancaster on January 22, 1932 the daughter of Clifton H. Ingerson Sr. and Thelma (French) Ingerson.
Mary attended schools in Jefferson and Lancaster. She was a parishioner of the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ. Memberships include the Eastern Star, the Grange and the Lancaster and New Hampshire Historical Societies. At one time she was an active leader for 4-H. For many years she worked with Lillian Lucas at the Church Shop on Main Street in Lancaster. For a time she was employed at the Lancaster Elementary School cafeteria. In recent years she has been making hats for premature babies born at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
Family members include her husband of 64 years Aldine J. “Jack” Tillotson of Lancaster; a son John Tillotson and his wife Jewel of Grantham, NH; a daughter Cynthia Colby and her husband Robert of Lancaster; grandchildren Mandy Tillotson, Jesse Tillotson, Christopher Feugill, Zachary Colby and his wife Jamie, Marcus Colby; 4 great-grandchildren Wolf, Madison, Lily, Parker; a brother Clifton H. She was born in 1937 in Scotland, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of William Ralph and Tirzah (Hendershot) Crane.
In February of this year she was widowed by the loss of her husband Michiel “Mitch” Vermeersch. They were married for 60 years.
Myrna worked as a production leader at Wagner Electric and after her retirement she enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, crafting and dancing. Her philosophy was to have an all around good time with life.
Surviving family members include her daughter Robin Vermeersch and her partner Gary Weiser; her son Dean Vermeersch; one granddaughter Tacy Long and her husband James; and great-grandsons Jensen and Emmett; two brothers Alfred and Beverly; nieces Sarah, Debi, Jennifer, Kim and a nephew Alan. She was predeceased by two brothers Ronnie and Glenn.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Mrs. Roberts was born in Stratford, NH on May 14, 1933 the daughter of Ezra and Lena (Melville) Robie. She was raised in North Stratford and was a 1951 graduate of Stratford High School. One of her favorite memories was winning the State Basketball Championship.
For a time she lived in Maine and worked as a secretary for Travelers Insurance Company in Portland. Norma was longtime resident of Lancaster and was the wife of her late husband John D. Roberts Jr. She was an active member of the community and was involved with many local volunteer organizations. Memberships included the Fluffies and The Birthday Girls. She was an active follower of Facebook and loved keeping up with family and friends. She enjoyed surrounding herself with laughter, good times, and positive thoughts.
Surviving family members include her children George David Roberts of Lancaster, J.D. Roberts of Lancaster, Pamela Roberts of Lancaster, Lynn Emery and husband Roger of Maidstone, VT, Cindy Normandeau and husband Dennis of Lancaster, Heather Bailey and husband Kolin of Lancaster; a sister Elsie Bradway of Hampden, MA; her cherished 11 grandchildren, Brian Roberts, Katie Gray, Stacie Roberts, Becky Roberts, Sammi Jo Roberts, Nicholas Emery, Mitchell Emery, Breanna Birt, Tucker Campbell, Kylee Bailey, Kaden Bailey; and 3 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Angelicola was born March 6, 1919 in Patterson, NJ the daughter of Francis Maynard and Mabel (Wheeler) Maynard. She spent most of her childhood in Ridgewood, NJ where she graduated from Ridgewood High School and then attended secretarial vocational school.
After completing vocational school Patricia worked for Wright Aeronautics as a secretary in where she became a lead secretary. After marrying Ernest F. Angelicola, her husband of 70 years, Patricia then devoted her time to her family and raising her children in Pompton Lakes, NJ. She enjoyed playing the piano and writing poetry. After moving to Jefferson in 1986 she joined the Jefferson Adult Citizens where over the course of 20 years she served as President and Secretary. She was also recognized as the oldest citizen in Jefferson.

Paul was one of 5 children born in Lowell Mass on June 6, 1939, the son of Margaret Cleghorn & Paul Richardson.
Paul was raised in Lowell Mass, but 26 years ago moved to northern NH which he had grown to love while hunting as a child with his parents and friends. For many years he owned and operated his own construction company-Creative Building & Remodeling in Lowell. He then built & operated his own woodworking shop in Lancaster, Kapp Discount, creating many pieces of beautiful furniture for both family and his many friends. He enjoyed traveling, cooking, rooting for the Red Sox & Patriots and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife Karen Miles of Lancaster, daughter Paula Winter of Loudon, son Allan Miles of New Market, grandsons Brice & Wyatt Winter of Loudon, sons Paul, Russell and Jeffrey of Mass.

Mrs. Mosher was born in West Stewartstown, NH on March 15, 1921 the daughter of Edwin Franklin and Ida A. (Libby) Parker.
For a time worked for Dr. Ferguson and then married James H. Mosher. After raising her family she worked as a housekeeper and assisted with the care of her grandchildren. For 17 years she was employed with Manchester Knitted Fashions in Whitefield.
Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, embroidery, sewing and crafts. She made mittens for Toys for Tots and one year made 300 pair.
Family members include her daughters, Anna Eastman of Anchorage, AK, Betty McLeod and husband John of Groveton; a step-son John H. Mosher of Florida; 5 grandchildren, Tom Jr. and fiancée Amy, Jamie and wife Tania, Tanya and husband Kevin, David and wife Melissa, Krystal; 8 great-grandchild, Haile, Brady, Dillon, Breanna, Carly, Chandler, Kenley, Devin; one brother, Robert Parker of Illinois; 2 sisters, Edwina Adair of North Stratford, Rachel Langlois of Goffstown, NH and many nieces and nephews. ....show , 82 of Lancaster, NH went home to be with her Lord, January 7, 2014, at Morrison Nursing Home.
Born April 14, 1931 in Schenectady NY., the daughter of Gordon and Arlene Minehardt. She was raised by her grandparents Harry and Ethel Kilmer. After High School she trained at Ellis Hospital Training School where received her RN. She continued her education at Columbia University receiving a BS degree.
She joined the Air Force Reserve as an RN and was discharged with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
During WW II the family changed the spelling of their surname to appear less Jewish. So Joyce grew up in a neighborhood of Jewish people but did not know she was Jewish until years when later her father told her.
She was introduced to the Jewish Jesus by a friend that sent her on a journey to find out her Jewishness through Him. She attended Pine Crest Bible Training Center and Berean School of the Bible where received certificates in Ministry and was ordained as a Jewish Rabbi in 1990 at Gospel Crusade Ministerial Fellowship in Bradenton FL.
Her love for her Lord and His Word became the focus of her life. Her desire was to share the Word with as many people as possible and teaching them their Hebraic Roots of Christianity. Though she was never married she had a large spiritual family and many spiritual children.
She is survived by a brother Allen, a nephew and niece. Her close friend and co-worker in the Lord, Muriel Trefry and her little companion, a dog named Samantha. She was predeceased by a sister, Patricia, both parents and grandparents.

JEFFERSON – Raymond Everett Mardin
....show , 86 of Wheeler Drive, died suddenly at his home Monday morning March 17, 2014.
Mr. Mardin was born in Lisbon, NH on January 25, 1928 the son of Albert and Esther (Fellows) Mardin. He was raised on the family farm in Landaff and went off to serve with the US Army during WWII. His tour was in the Pacific Theater including Iwo Jima and Saipan.
Returning to Landaff he later moved to Berlin where he met and married his first wife Alice (Caswell) Mardin. He worked most of his life as a truck driver and was employed at Brown Company, St. Johnsbury Trucking and more recently George Ramsey and Son Trucking in Gorham. He retired in 1990.
Raymond has always been a gentleman farmer raising beef, horses and chickens. He also enjoyed working with his tractors. Memberships include the VFW and American Legion both of Whitefield.
Alice predeceased him in 1995. On July 1, 2000 he married Anne (Eastman) Wheeler of Jefferson.
Family member include his wife Anne of Jefferson; four children, Katherine M. Bouffard and husband Dennis of Sutton, VT, Sheila R. Leavitt and husband Roger Littleton, Steven R. Mardin and his wife Deb of Bloomfield, VT, Scott R. Mardin and wife Jennifer of Jefferson; three step-children, Julie Welch and her husband Ellison, Ted Wheeler, Bill Wheeler Jr; two brothers Elwood Mardin of Lisbon, Curtis Mardin of Littleton; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews. Mr. Ouellette was born in Lawrence, MA on August 5, 1925. He was long time resident of the Boston area and was employed for many years as an aviation mechanic. He retired in 1989 and moved to Twin Mountain in 2010. During World War II he served with the US Navy on Lake Michigan.
Family members include his three children Jay Ouellette of Twin Mountain, Laurence Ouellette of Londonderry, Cynthia Ouellette of Londonderry; and 4 grandchildren.

Reginald Hervey Abbott
....show , 88, of Lancaster, died peacefully at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in White River Junction, VT on Saturday, January 17, 2015.
Reg was born in Troy, NH on January 23, 1926 the son of Hervey Abbott and Corinne Marotte. He had been a resident of Lancaster most of his life.
Reg was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He served as a motor machinist’s mate on several small warships and saw action in the Pacific theater.
After a brief post-war stay at Plymouth State College and then Oklahoma to finish an education interrupted by war, he and wife Alice (Cryan) settled in Lancaster to raise a family. Reg spent most of his working years at P.J. Noyes Company in Lancaster. But as a hardworking New Englander and devoted family man he was up well before dawn on most days to handle several part-time jobs in Lancaster over the years including
various duties at the Weeks Memorial Library, the Democrat offices, and the Siwooganock Bank. In his spare time he ran “Abbott’s Clock Shop” out of his home.
After “retiring” he enjoyed working at the Walmart in Littleton in the garden shop and later as a greeter. Reg also did some volunteer work for Meals on Wheels during the last years of his life.
Reg took great joy in spending time outdoors. He was an accomplished skier and better than average tennis player as many local players can attest. In his later years he particularly liked hiking Mt. Prospect in Lancaster and riding his bike for miles near town and in Vermont after crossing the Connecticut River.
Reginald is survived by a son, Stephen Abbott, of Alexandria, Virginia; a daughter, Penny Durgin, of Lancaster; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Reginald was predeceased by his wife of more than 50 years, Alice, who died in 2006; and two sons, Terry Michael (U.S. Marine killed in Vietnam, 1968), and Tracey Lee who died in 2011.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation, or the Meals on Wheels Association of America.
A graveside service for Reginald and Alice will be held Thursday afternoon July 9, at 4:00 PM in Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster. Military honors will also be conducted in Mr. Abbot’s memory.

Richard was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on March 24, 1948 a son of George B. Birt Sr. and Dorothy E. (Kehrer) Birt. He lived in Ohio in his early years and then he and his family moved to Connecticut. He graduated from Darien High School in Connecticut in 1966. Richard attended college in Boston, Massachusetts where he studied Marine Biology for one year. Richard was drawn to the sea and had a passion for boating. He spent as much time as possible out on Long Island Sound. He worked for Bloom Brothers Oyster Company in Norwalk, Connecticut as an oyster fisherman. Richard served in the United States Coast Guard from 1968 to 1972 during the Vietnam War. He met Christine while he was in the Coast Guard and they were married on August 19, 1972. He worked as a lobsterman, a carpenter and a diesel mechanic while they lived in Connecticut. Richard and his wife Christine moved to Vermont in May of 1982. They purchased an old dairy farm that had not been in operation since the 1960’s. Richard worked as a diesel mechanic for Boydston Ford Tractor in Lancaster for almost two years. Then he and his wife renovated the dairy farm, purchased Jersey cows and started shipping milk. They named their farm Misty Valley Farm. In April of 2004 lightning cased a fire and they lost their cows, barns and other buildings. They weren’t able to get back into dairy farming. Instead they focused on growing and selling hay to other farmers and selling sweet corn, pumpkins and apples from their farm stand.
Richard enjoyed farming and working in the woodlot. His other interests included various outdoor activities – snowmobiling, four wheeling, skiing and fishing. He was an avid reader. Spending time with his family was of the utmost importance to him. Richard was an exceptionally wonderful father, grandfather and loving husband.
He is survived by his wife, Christine of 41 years; his son, David J. Birt and wife Megan and their son Jaxon (grandson); his son Justin M. Birt and fiancée Bree L. Campbell; his brother George B. Birt Jr. of Dayton, Ohio; his sister Diane E. Lis and husband Frank of Southbury, CT; his brother-in-law Andrew E. Bialous and wife Lisa of Mapleville RI; his sister-in-law Hedy Grkovich and husband Dan of Buffalo Grove Illinois; and his sister-in-law Ann M. Rominger and partner Dennis Woodward of Bristol, NH as well as several nieces and nephews.
Richard was predeceased by his father George B. Birt Sr. and his mother Dorothy E. Birt. He was also predeceased by his brother-in-law Walter G. Bialous and Walter’s wife Patrice of Elizabeth City, NC.
There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at the Christ United Methodist Church in Lancaster, on Friday, January 17th at 11:00 AM. Reverend Richard Boyden, pastor, will officiate.

LANCASTER - Robert A. Bresnahan
....show , 61, of Bridge Street, died suddenly Wednesday January 29, 2014.
Bob was born in Lancaster on February 11, 1952 the son of Gerald and Reta (Montgomery) Bresnahan. He was a 1970 graduate of White Mountain Regional High School and a 1972 graduate of Berlin Votech. For several years he worked for a cable company in the North Conway area and then enlisted with the US Navy. His tour of duty lasted 10 years. During that time he travelled the world and proudly served on the USS Nimitz.
Returning home Bob was employed with ABB Group operating and programming Accuray Systems for quality control in the pulp and paper industry. He later went into the construction business as a safety office. “Safety Bob” was well known through the various companies he worked for including Engelberth, Bell Heery, and Cianbro. He worked throughout New England and was the safety office for various construction projects including the Tenney Mountain and Georgia Mountain wind farms and the Berlin Federal Prison.
Bob enjoyed spending time at the family camp on Neal Pond in Lunenburg. He also enjoyed photography, playing poker with his friends and making maple syrup. He was a dog lover and will be greatly missed by his cocker spaniels Toby and Cooper.
Family members include his wife Linda (Rogers) Bresnahan of Lancaster; his parents Gerald and Reta Bresnahan of Lunenburg; his three children Shane Rogers of Stark, Morgan Rogers of Lancaster, Jessie Hartshorn and her husband David of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Michael Bresnahan and wife Margaret of Lunenburg, Rebecca Haskins and husband Terry of Richmond, NH, Timothy Bresnahan and wife Marcella of Flagstaff, AZ, Andrew Bresnahan and wife Debbie of Liverpool, NY, Suzanne Bresnahan of Marlow, NH, Carol Gillen of North Woodstock, NH, Peter Bresnahan of Brookline, MA; his mother-in-law Janice Rogers of Stark and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday afternoon and evening, February 2, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10:00 AM at All Saints Church, Lancaster. Reverend Matthew Mason, pastor, will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the spring in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.

Rosemary Ann Martin
....show of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Rosemary was born on April 10, 1957, in Lancaster, New Hampshire, where she attended Lancaster Elementary School. Her early years were spent at Roclawn Farm on Lost Nation Road, and when her family relocated to Mount Dora, Florida, in 1966, Rosemary attended Roseborough Elementary and Mount Dora High School, where she was inducted into the National Honor Society. Graduating Cum Laude in June of 1975, Rosemary attended classes at Berry College in Rome, Georgia; the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida, and Lake-Sumter Community College in Leesburg, Florida.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Currier Martin, and is survived by her father, Winston Page Martin, and sister Beth (Martin) Cochran, both of Tucson; brother George Winston Martin of Hendersonville, North Carolina; nieces Shannon Cochran, Paige (Cochran) DeKoster, Alicia Martin, Amanda Martin; and great-niece Ava DeKoster.
Rosemary’s career spanned many years in the airline industry, first in Atlanta, Georgia, and then in Tucson. She was employed by American Airlines as a reservationist until the date of her passing.
Gifted with a glowing smile, Rosemary had a great love of cooking, as well as music and crafts.
Funeral arrangements are being made by Adair Funeral Home of Tucson, and Bailey Funeral Home of Lancaster. A memorial is planned for a later date, at which time Rosemary will be laid to rest in the Martin family plot at Summer Street Cemetery in Lancaster.
JEFFERSON – Ruth A. Walker
....show , 89, of John Walker Road, died at her home Sunday evening May 18, 2014.
Mrs. Walker was born in Morrisplains, New Jersey on April 25, 1925 the daughter of Charles and Dorothy (Willey) Enman.
She attended schools in Morrisplains and Morristown, NJ, moving to Jefferson in 1944. That same year she met her husband Richard H. Walker and married him in 1945. When Richard predeceased her in 2005 they had been married for 60 years. For a time she worked for the hot lunch program in the Jefferson and Lancaster schools. Ruth enjoyed crafts and loved going to church.
Surviving family members include a son Thomas Walker and his wife Alberta of Jefferson; two daughters Lora Ruth Ashton and husband Gary of Barton, VT, Dorothy Wright and husband Gary of Fresno, CA; 9 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elaine Kenison of Port Orchard, Washington, Marietta Ingerson of Jefferson, Barbara Connel, of Sandy, Utah. She was also predeceased by five brothers, Robert, Donald, Charlie, Lawrence, Bruce and a sister Eleanor Cloyd.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening May 21, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the Jefferson Christian Church. Reverend Dean Stiles, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Vale Cemetery, Jefferson.

Ruth S. Couture
....show , 91, wife of the late Albert A. Couture died on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at the Meriden Center after a brief illness. Ruth was born in Island Pond, VT on Aug. 24, 1922, the daughter of the late Walter and Hazel Pelow Sequin.
She had resided in Meriden since 1962. Ruth was employed by Spartan Tool Manufacturing from 1969 through 1987. She was a member of Family Living Worship Center in Meriden. Ruth enjoyed her grandchildren, doing puzzles and reading.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Alberta Roy of Meriden, Suzanne LeHerissien and her husband Paul Larouche of Meriden, and Laurie Collins of Meriden; two sons, Donald Couture of Suffield and Dennis Couture of Terryville; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one sister, Francesca “Anna” Jodrey of Gorham, NH. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Greiser; two sisters; and two brothers.
A funeral was held on Dec. 16 in Meriden, CT. Locally a visiting hour will be held Saturday May 10th at 10:00 at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A graveside committal service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster.
LANCASTER – Sally White Carter
....show , 84, of Stebbins Hill Road, died Sunday March 30, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon.
Mrs. Carter was born in Lancaster on September 5, 1929 the daughter of Almon D. and Esther (Rines) White. Raised on the Wedare Farm on Stebbins Hill, her present home, she was a horsewoman who learned to raise and show morgan horses at an early age.
For almost her entire life she lived in Lancaster. She graduated from Lancaster Academy and attended Keene State College. On September 29, 1951 she married George Francis Carter. They resided in Boston for a time where she was employed at Jordan Marsh. They returned to Lancaster and in the early 70’s she acquired a realtors license. She was employed with various realtors until she and George founded Carter Associates Realtors operating from 1976 to 1998. She was very successful in her career and was once voted as Realtor of the Year for the North Country Board.
Along with George her love for Morgan horses continued throughout her life. From the 1940’s to the late 70’s she raised and showed morgans. In 1963 they sold a morgan named Windcrest Musicman which was one of the highest priced morgans in its day. They regularly won awards for their accomplishments and Sally was a founder of the White Mountain Riding Club.
Family members include her husband George F. Carter of Lancaster; a son George C. “Kit” Carter of Lancaster; a granddaughter Catherine Carter of Lancaster and a grandson George Christopher Carter of New York City.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday April 3, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday April 5 at 1:00 PM at All Saints Church, Lancaster. Burial will be in the spring in Summer Street Cemetery.

LANCASTER – Sharon A. Foss
....show , 64, died peacefully Wednesday afternoon, March 19, 2014 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, surrounded by her loving family.
Sharon was born in Lancaster on July 13, 1949 the daughter of Stewart R. and Jean C. (Marshall) Foss. She was raised in Stoughton, MA until she was fifteen. Her family returned to Lancaster and in 1967 she graduated from Lancaster Academy. For a time she resided in Manchester and Barnstead where she worked as an administrative assistant for New Hampshire Insurance.
She was a person who loved spending time with family and friends. There was nothing she liked better than an interesting conversation with a good friend. Sharon could have an engaging conversation with anyone. She especially enjoyed going to the Community Camps, taking rides out East and the Hallmark Channel.
Sharon is now reunited with her Mom, Dad and grandparents whom she always held near and dear to her heart. They were a great comfort in her life. The family extends their gratitude to Holton Point and the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for their kindness.
She was a Communicant of the Gate of Heaven Parish.
Surviving family members include her five brothers and their spouses, Mark Foss and Rita of The Villages, FL, Douglas Foss and Cindy of Pittsfield, MA, Andrew Foss and Carole of Belmont, Thomas Foss and Marilyn of Guildhall, Kevin Foss and Janet of Penacook; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her former husband and friend Elwin H. “Sonny” Hopps.

DALTON – Sheilah Mae Raynor
....show , 68, formerly of Dalton and Lebanon, NH, went home to be with the Lord April 4, 2014 at the Lafayette Center in Franconia after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born in Littleton as Sheila Corliss on September 22, 1945.
Sheilah enjoyed fishing, gardening, bird watching, cooking and animals. She enjoyed working for the VNA and Lebanon Housing Authority as a caregiver for many years. Most of all she loved her family and spent as much time as possible with them.
Her husband Edward J. Raynor predeceased her on October 20, 2013. She was also predeceased by a step-sister Leah.
Surviving family members include her children, Harry Daisey and wife Shannon of Littleton, Lisa Doenges and boyfriend Clayton Peters of White River Jct. VT, Anthony Daisey and wife Shawna of Dalton; a brother, Richard Corliss of Elberton, GA; a sister, Sharyn Palisoul and husband Dave of East Orange, VT; a sister-in-law Barbara Curran of Lebanon; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 nieces; 2 nephews and a step brother Hans of Rhode Island.

LANCASTER – Sonja L.M. Ingerson
....show , 76, of the McKee Inn, died Sunday evening May 18, 2014 at the Catholic Medical Center, Manchester.
Mrs. Ingerson was born in Lebanon, NH on September 4, 1937 the daughter of Frederick and Vera (Messier) Burgess. She was raised there and later moved to Jefferson when she married Raymond H. Ingerson Jr.
Sonja loved to read and cook and for a time spent her winters in Arizona. She once served as supervisor of checklist in Jefferson. For several years she has resided in Lancaster.
Surviving family members include her children Karen Hewitt of Arizona; Fredrick Ingerson and Carrie of Jefferson; Justine Ingerson of Twin Mountain, Lisa Parks and Pete Whitney of Lancaster, Michael Hatfield and Tracie of Jefferson; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond and two sons, James Ingerson and Richard Ingerson.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

NORTH PORT, FLORIDA - After a long battle of illness, Stephen "Steve" Douglas Kipp
....show , 70, of North Port Florida passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia L. (MacKillop) Kipp, daughter Nathalie Rowlette, son Jeffrey Donovan, daughter Mary Crowley, daughter Pascale Edwards, his twin sister Stephanie Peltz and his brother Charles Kipp. He has seven grandchildren, Samantha, Brittany, Jessica, Hannah, Alora, Hunter and Madison and three great grandchildren Skyler, Keegin and Arabella.
Stephen was born in Lancaster NH on August 3, 1943 son of the late William and Mary Kipp. Steve was a graduate of Lancaster High School in 1962. Steve was a member of many organizations to include the Masonic lodge, YMCA, NH Alarm Assoc., American Motorcycle Assoc., Shiners, VFW, NRA, Boy Scouts, Valley of Nashua, & Provast Guard. He was a camp counselor in his youth at Camp Belknap. He was a SSG in the US Army (satellite communications) during which he served overseas and received badges and awards for his dedicated military service. Upon returning from the military he worked at MaBell - New England Telephone for several years. Stephen was a member of the Lancaster Fire Department for 20 plus years. He worked his way up the chain of command from, Lieutenant, to Captain, to Assistant Chief to Chief. He established Kipp Alarm Service in 1976 and Kipp Alarm Service Central Station in 1984. He was the proud owner and operator of Kipp Alarm Service for 22 years. He was an avid motorcyclist. He owned several motorcycles over the years for which he loved to ride. He enjoyed many cross country trips taken with his wife and grand-daughter Samantha.
Calling hours will be Friday, July 18th from 5 to 8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A masonic service will be held at 7:00 PM. The funeral will be Saturday, July 19th at 11 am at the Methodist Church in Lancaster NH. Burial will be at the Summer Street Cemetery immediately following the service. The Lancaster Fire Department will be holding a reception after the service at the Methodist Church in honor of Chief Stephen D. Kipp.
Stephen was loved by many and will be greatly missed!

....show , 73, of Wilton, NH and Port Richey, FL died suddenly Monday morning September 22, 2014 while visiting family in Lancaster, NH.
Mr. Mudgett was born in Meredith, NH on April 29, 1941. His mother, Adella Mudgett, predeceased him at an early age and he was raised in Woodsville, NH by his aunt and uncle Alice and Sumner Taylor who have also predeceased him.
At 18 years of age he moved to Milford, NH. He resided there and in Wilton, NH for many years where he owned and operated S. Mudgett and Sons Paving Company. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and pig pickins. Stephen was a jack of all trades who could fix or repair almost anything. He will be dearly missed.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Florida.
He dearly loved his wife Sherry M. (Blake) Mudgett of Wilton, NH and Port Richey, FL; his two daughters, Robin Savage and her husband Bruce of Lancaster, NH, Anne Fitch and her husband Fred of Orange, VT; his son Stephen J. Mudgett Jr. of Wilton, NH; his 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and his mother-in-law Barbara Blake of Mont Vernon, NH.

Mrs. Theroux was born October 18, 1950 in Willimantic, CT the daughter of Elmer G. and Claire (Tremblay) Sargent.
She attended Northwest Catholic High School, West Hartford, CT, graduating in 1968.
In 1970 she graduated from the Art Student League in New York, NY.
In 1986 she graduated from Mitchell College in New London, CT with an associate’s degree in psychology and in 1988 graduated from Connecticut College in New London with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology Magna Cum Laude.
Terri was a former recreation director at Mary Kenny Nursing Home in Waterford, CT and she owned and operated Dream Design, LLC, an arts and crafts home business.
She was also a licensed instructor for Japanese bunka embroidery for Waterford Parks and Recreation and was a member of the marriage encounter team for 3 years in Waterford, CT.
Her greatest joy was staying at home and caring for her family, among them her husband Paul and her two children Christopher and Rebecca.
She maintained her love of writing, arts, crafts, quilting, and other related pursuits throughout her entire life.
She moved with her family to Lancaster, NH in November 2002 where she would stay for the remainder of her life.
She is survived by her husband Paul, and two children, Christopher and his wife Kelly of Montpelier and Rebecca of Lancaster.
She was predeceased by her parents, Elmer and Claire Sargent, and five children, Chad, Heather, David, Paul and Hope.
Contributions may be made in her name to the charity of the donor’s choice in lieu of flowers.

TWIN MOUNTAIN - Watkins, Thomas Charles
....show of Twin Mountain, died suddenly in a tragic accident on Monday afternoon, February 2, 2015 in Lancaster. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 16 years Stacey Ann Watkins PhD (Welch), his brother-in-law, Robert L. Welch of Tucson, his nephew and godson James Rowe of Newmarket, sisters Patricia Rowe of Florida and Marguerite Presnall of Texas. He is preceded in death by his brother James Watkins of Dover and sister- in- law Cheryl Welch (Young) of Tucson. He is also survived by his dear friends Jim and Mary Brodeur of Twin Mountain, Denise Chase of Bethlehem, Tyler Gooden of Whitefield, Maridel Green and Bruce Armstrong of St John, NB, Jeff and Ellen Beals, Raymond and Dorothy O’Leary and Bill and Saadia Miles all of Massachusetts, and his childhood friend and ice climbing partner John “Gonzo” Metivier.
Tom was born and raised in Dover on the family farm on Knox Marsh Road and attended Dover public schools before entering the military. Tom was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was stationed at Yokota Air Force Base in Japan. After being honorably discharged in 1974 he worked heavy construction for 25 years building power plants, shopping malls, bridges and roads throughout New Hampshire finishing his career with Cianbro Construction in Maine. Tom and Stacey met by sheer chance at a friend’s home in Northumberland in 1998 and fell in love at first sight. She left her position as a college professor in Providence, RI and he left his home in Dover in order for them to spend the rest of their lives together in the beautiful White Mountains. They married on September 9, 1999 and were residents of Jefferson for 4 years before becoming the proprietors of the Boulder Motor Court in Twin Mountain, where they have worked tirelessly side by side for the past 11 years.
Tom enjoyed the havoc he caused by being a Yankees fan in the midst of Red Sox nation but was also a hardcore Patriots’ fan. How wonderful it was that he was able to see the Pats win the Super Bowl on Sunday, the night before he died. But most people knew Tom best as an avid and expert angler. He could be spotted daily from the 4th
Saturday in April until mid-October in search of the infamous “Walter” at the boat launch at Mirror Lake in Whitefield, Martin Meadows Pond in Lancaster, or behind St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Twin Mountain where he claimed to be “getting religious”. He was happiest when casting his line.
My dearest Tommy: Thank you for always making me feel that I was the most important part of your life. I will forever cherish every moment we had together and may you rest in eternal peace with the full conviction that you are and always will be the love of my life.

Lancaster, NH - Todd Jason-Gilbert Leavitt
....show , 34, passed away September 28, 2014. He was born on February 28, 1980 in Nashua NH.
Todd attended Sunapee High School in Sunapee, NH. and was active in ski jumping and skiing. He worked for several painting companies in the area while in his teens and early 20’s. For the past 10 years, Todd lived in the White Mountain area. He worked at several restaurants in Franconia and enjoyed cooking.
Todd loved the outdoors, hiking and fishing. He excelled in photography and was honored with several awards. He loved skiing at Mt. Sunapee, Loon and Bretton Woods. He also received a certificate in Phlebotomy while living in Littleton NH. He was an avid guitar player and created an impressive vinyl collection.
Todd is survived by his longtime companion, Lora Recor, his parents, Bradley and Jessica Leavitt, his sisters, Tia Tighe and her husband Sean, Karen Humphrey and her husband Jeff. He is also survived by his grandfather, Arthur C. Leavitt and his grandmother Margaret Twyon Leavitt, ten aunts and uncles, twelve cousins, eleven second cousins, a niece, Madison Tighe, and a nephew, Trever Humphrey.
He was predeceased by his grandparents George and Anne Gundersdorf and his step grandfather George Williamson.
A celebration of Todd’s life will be shared with immediate family.

Vera was born on March 28, 1917 in St. Louis Missouri, the daughter of Charles A. Flynn and Lillian Rice Flynn. The family moved to New York City, NY where she attended public schools. She was a graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University, New York City and had a long career in teaching, retiring from the City of New York system.
Vera married Edgar C. Smith of Dalton, NH on September 29, 1945 and together they enjoyed travel, by station wagon in the early years, then by private plane and later by RV. They loved the outdoors. Edgar predeceased her on July 27, 1990.
Vera was by all definitions a “lady”. She had a ready smile, was gracious, vibrant, and always found the positive in everything. She enjoyed people, never being judgmental, and liking to help where she could. Travel remained a passion, with her last family camping trip when she was 91 years old, and arm chair travel after that. She felt that she had lived a rich, fulfilling and adventuresome life. She was a member of the Dalton Congregational Church, where her great-grandfather, Thaddeus Metcalf Jr. was a deacon in July 1866. Vera was a member of the Dalton Historical Society, the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests and the Connecticut River Watershed Council. Vera was an active volunteer at the Gilman (VT) Senior Center over many years and a devoted supporter of the Weathervane Theater. She supported the JROTC at the White Mountains Regional High School and had provided scholarships to worthy members of the nursing program at the White Mountains Community College in Berlin NH. Vera served as supervisor of the Dalton Checklist for many years.
Surviving are her daughter Nancy L. Smith and husband Wayne A. Smith of Dalton, grandson Bryant W. Smith and his daughters Macee and Piper of Dalton. Vera was predeceased by an older sister Kathleen B. Lynch.
Memorial service arrangements and care have been entrusted to Bailey Funeral Home Lancaster NH. Viewing hours are on Tuesday November 18, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The Memorial Service will be on Saturday November 22, 2014, at 4:00 PM at the Dalton Congregational Church. Rev. Diane Raymond, pastor, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations in her memory to Dalton Congregational Church or the Gilman Senior Center.

Mrs. Marvin was born in Beacon, NY on December 1, 1943 the daughter of Antonio and Maria (Spezziolli) Faciani.
For 25 years she was employed with IBM in Fishkill, NY.
Family members include a son David Marvin and his wife Kimberly of Houston, TX; a daughter Dawn Gordon and her husband James Gordon Sr. of Hyde Park, NY; a brother Steven Fasciani of Poughkeepsie, NY; 4 grandchildren, Benjamin Marvin, Allison Marvin, Evan Marvin, James Gordon Jr; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband Phillip Marvin predeceased her in 2011.

GROVETON – Virginia A. “Ginnie” Crawford
....show , 89, formerly of Stratford Road, died Thursday morning August 21, 2014 at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center, Lancaster after two years of declining health.
Mrs. Crawford was born in West Stewartstown, NH on October 9, 1926 the daughter of Wesley and Myrtle (Shaw) Mills.
She was raised in Stewartstown and for 20 years worked as a sander and pre-finisher at Ethan Allen Furniture in Beecher Falls. In 1972 she retired there and married Raymond W. Crawford and moved to Groveton.
Ginnie loved fishing, cooking, antiquing and in her later years word search puzzles. She was a devoted member of the Assembly of God Church where served as former secretary and treasurer. She will be fondly remembered trucking kids to Sunday School and Bible vacation in her red VW bus.
Surviving family members include her husband Raymond of Groveton; four children, Roderick James Crawford of Manchester, Gary Raymond Crawford of Tennessee, Sheila Mae Lovering and her husband David of Concord, NH, Kathy Dee Wiles and husband Dean of Groveton; a brother Albert Mills of Texas; two sisters, Ethel Goodrum of Colebrook, Eva Stevens of West Stewartstown; four grandchildren, Jamie Lovering, David Lovering, Loren W. Locke, Sabrina R. Zanes; a great-grandchild Julian Lovering; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Willis Treffrey; a brother Waldo Mills and two sisters Mary Phillips and Dorothy Mills.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday afternoon August 23, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the Lancaster Assembly of God Church. Reverend Seth Frink, pastor, will co-officiate with former pastor Bruce Lee. Burial will follow in Northumberland Cemetery.

LEBANON - Virginia Mary Alden
....show , a life-long student of the Great Questions went to meet her God, Answerer of all Questions, when she passed peaceably, May 3, 2014 at the age of 93.
Born in Lancaster New Hampshire to William and Sarah Alden September 17, 1920, Virgina was the youngest and last surviving member of her of nine sibling family: Mina Brown, Lucy Cole, Harold , Bertha Osborne, Alfred, Clayton, Gladys Anderson and Dorothy Carr.
Virginia attended Gore School, a one room school house, and Lancaster High School. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1941 with a Bachelors of Arts degree. She taught English in schools in Windam, VT, and North Stafford and Whitefield New Hampshire. Before living at Genesis Health Care, Lebanon New Hampshire, Virginia had lived previously in Indiana, New Jersey and California. She also lived in the Lancaster and Manchester areas of New Hampshire. At one point in her life she worked for IBM and the federal government during the Cold War. at a time when our country operated under conditions of great secrecy and distrust which contributed to her personal battles of mental illness that ravaged and robbed her life of familial and societal connections.
Virginia married and later divorced Harold Crary of Springfield Vermont. Together they had a son, Robert Alden Crary who survives her along with his wife Dawn and their three children Melissa Robb, Adam Crary and Alison Griffin. She is also survived by great grand children Hunter and Elena Robb, Clark and Flint Crary and Laila Griffin. Virginia is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Virginia was an avid reader, especially enjoying what she felt were academic and classic writings. She wrote poetry with the poetic voice of those such as Virginia Wolfe and other strong women who wrestled with the burdens and constraints of an era that was just beginning to recognize the voice of women. She was proud to have had some of her poems published in the Poetry Society of New Hampshire. Most of her life was spent in searching for Answers to the Great Question of God and religion. Her searching led her to read copious tomes on religion which she worked to translate through her knowledge system into a manuscript which she so wanted to have published. All of which will be laid to rest with her spirit as she now will walk and talk with Him.
Those who wish are invited to attend a service of remembrance in Lancaster New Hampshire at the Bailey Funeral Home on May 16, 2014 at 1:30. Burial will be directly following.
LANCASTER – Wendell Albert Burke
....show , 84, passed away December 15, 2013 after a long and courageous battle.
Born in Whitefield, NH July 28, 1929 he was the son of Benjamin and Lena (Kiser) Burke.
He will be missed by his loving wife of 27 years Marilyn (Lantigne) Burke and dog Trixie.
As well as his son Gary Burke of Big Lake, Alaska; three stepsons, Lawrence Lantigne of Berlin, Paul Patridge and wife Joy of Concord, VT, Jason Patridge and wife Marcy of Lyndonville; one stepdaughter Marie O’Brien and husband Mike of St. Johnsbury; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Ann Burke; nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; 2 sisters, Olivetta Eastman, Etta Collins; 1 brother Randall Burke; and his first wife Olive Ramsdell Burke.
He worked in farming, logging and retired after 39 years at Groveton Paper Mill working his way up to 1st Class Millwright.
He enjoyed stock car racing and drove car #12 at Groveton Speedway.
He also loved hunting, fishing, snow machining, four wheeling, playing with his grandchildren and hugging the women.
Gone but never forgotten. There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held in the spring.
DALTON – William C. Bolduc
....show , 71, of Faraway Road, died at his home Thursday morning February 13, 2014.
Mr. Bolduc was born in Concord, NH on April 2, 1942 the son of Ernest J. and Corinne (Miner) Bolduc.
Raised in Concord, NH he attended Concord High School and later served in the US Army with the 82nd
Airborne Infantry. During his lifetime he has worked as a self employed logger, a loom mechanic at the Stevens Woolen Mill, Franklin, NH and for 10 years was a houseman at the Mount Washington Resort.
Bill loved outdoor activities that included hunting, fishing, and hiking. From his time in the military he attained a passion for sky diving that carried over to his personal life. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.
Family members include his wife Joan Overton of Dalton; his children, Jason Overton of Dalton, Joshua Overton of Jefferson, Japheth Bolduc of Lancaster, Joseph Bolduc and his wife Karen of Dalton, Scott Bureau of Center Harbor, NH, Lori Bolduc of Concord, NH,, Billy Bolduc of Concord, NH; 13 grandchildren; a brother Richard Bolduc of Clay City, Kentucky; a sister Linda Hawkins of Webster, NH and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Ernest J. Bolduc Jr. and a sister Margie Taylor.
There are no visiting hours. A memorial gathering will be held Sunday afternoon, February 16, at 2:00 PM at the Dalton Congregational Church, Route 135, Dalton, NH. Pastor Diane Raymond will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date.

LANCASTER – William D. Thompson II
....show , 86, of Fletcher Street, died Tuesday February 11, 2014 at his home.
Mr. Thompson was born in Lancaster on June 4, 1927 the son of William D. Thompson I and Inza Thompson. He was a graduate of Lancaster Academy. During WWII he served with the Army Air Corps (US Air Force) in the Pacific Theater. This was a start to Bill’s long military career as he continued to serve in the US Navy and the National Guard. He would proudly state his enlistment lasted 44 years, 11 months and 16 days.
Returning to Lancaster he worked various job including Santa’s Village and the NH Sweepstakes Commission from which he retired. Bill also volunteered at the Lancaster Historical Society where he shared many life stories of his hometown and the military.
He was a member of the John Weeks VFW Post #3041 and served as commander from 1969 to 1970.
Family members include his five children Eldon Middleton of Oregon, William D. Thompson III of Lancaster, Wyatt D. Thompson of Lancaster, Wenda Thompson of Groveton, Wynta Samson of Lancaster; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and his close friend Julie Hodgdon of Gorham who he affectionately called “the crazy lady from Gorham”. He was predeceased by his wife Helen (Middleton) Thompson.

Bill was kind, caring and thoughtful, a true gentleman, a Naval Officer, and an avid grandparent supporter of his grandchildren's athletic and music events. He served on the Lancaster Farmers Market Board, Weeks Medical Center Board of Trustees, the Jefferson Conservation Commission, Coos County Extension Advisory Council, and Weeks State Park Board.
Bill was a man who made the extra effort to be inclusive and attentive to the needs and interests of others. He treated all equally with great respect. Honest and ethical thought processes were hallmarks of his leadership style.
Bill is survived by Peg his wife of 59 years, son Ken and his spouse Dennis Harris of Windsor, CA, son Doug, his wife Andrea and grandchildren Colby and Allison of Oakland, Maine, three nieces Jean Erickson, Nancy Hoey and Carol Fischang and sister in law Rosetta Watson.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at the Congregational Church in Lancaster on June 28 at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
GILMAN – William T. Sullivan Jr.
....show 88, of Jefferson Avenue, died Thursday morning April 17, 2014 at The Morrison in Whitefield.
Mr. Sullivan was born in Northumberland, NH on December 10, 1925 the son of William T. Sullivan Sr. and Nettie (Bean) Sullivan.
He was raised in Gilman and moved to Littleton in his teens. While there he supported himself by living and working at the Thayers Inn. He graduated from Littleton High School and was the quarterback for the football team. He was also vice president of his class, an honors student, sports editor for the "Record", Captain of Football, Athletic Association President, and member of the Hi-Y 4 Club. He returned to Gilman and worked 40 years at the Gilman Paper Mill retiring as supervisor of maintenance. He left for a time to serve with the US Army during World War II and was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne.
William was a fine athlete and enjoyed sports. For a time he coached basketball and baseball in Gilman and he was a good skier and skater. He also enjoyed travelling the countryside and bird hunting.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Family members include a son William P. Sullivan and his wife Elizabeth of North Hampton, NH; a daughter Gayle MacDonald and her husband Stephen of North Danville, VT; a daughter in-law Joanne Sullivan of Waterford, VT, four grandchildren, Tammy Cady and her husband Dave of Lyndonville, VT, Troy Sullivan and his wife Katie of Pennsylvania, Robbie “Frank” Briggs of Littleton, Kimberly Augeri and her husband John of Walden, VT; six great grandchildren, Caleb Augeri, Gracie Augeri, Jake Cady, Jordon Cady, Brody Sullivan and Sierra Sullivan. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia Anne (Boyle) Sullivan in 2009 and a son Timothy W. Sullivan in 2008.

....show , 84, died Saturday evening January 18, 2014 at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Boucher was born in Colebrook on April 13, 1929 the daughter of Noel J. and Rosa E. (Beauchemin) Benoit.
In her early years she worked as a nurse at Weeks Medical Center and was a partner in the family auctioneering business. For several years she owned and operated the Linscott & Smith stationary store in Lancaster. After the sale of the store she worked at the former Pilgrim Furniture store in Lancaster.
Yvonne was a homemaker who loved life, children and her many friends. She enjoyed yard sales, gardening, cooking, knitting, walking and dancing. Her greatest pleasure was caring for children especially her own grandchildren. Many local residents will remember her for her babysitting services and trips to the children’s room at the library.
Family members include her four children and their spouses, Robert Martin and Barbara of Lancaster, Jerry Martin and Helen of Guildhall, Nancy Sanborn and David of Lancaster, Mark Boucher and Nancy of Bow, NH; she is also survived by four brothers; a sister; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Fred Martin; her second husband Raymond Boucher; and four brothers.
At Yvonne’s request there are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Summer Street Cemetery. An announcement will be published at that time.
