Michael S. Majarian
....show , 80, of Monkton, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013. He was born in Colchester on Feb. 6, 1932, the son of Michael and Lena (Francis) Majarian. He was educated in Colchester schools and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On Aug. 27, 1955, he was married in Winooski to Barbara Baker. She predeceased him on Feb. 14, 2005. Mike had worked for many years and retired from the Lane Press.
He is survived by his four children, Barbara Swisher and husband, John, of Greencastle, Pa., Michael Majarian and companion, Tracy Giroux, of Milton, Ann Majarian of Monkton, and Donna Phinney and husband, Robert, of Alstead, N.H.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandsons; sister, Marguerite Majarian of Colchester; brother, Harry Majarian of South Burlington; also many nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a son, George "Bub" Hall in 1989; and brother, Walter Brown in 1996. The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to Kristen Salter for taking special care of their Dad for the past year. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Essex Junction. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in East Monkton Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Sandra Marie Aylward
....show , age 60 years, lost her battle with cancer Tuesday morning May 14, 2013, at her Pion Road residence with loving family at her side.
Born on April 11, 1953, she was the daughter of Homer Paradis and the late June (Dew) Paradis. She graduated in 1971 from Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans and on August 5, 1972, married the love of her life, Lester Aylward. They made their home in Fairfield with their three children.
Sandy will be most remembered for her establishment of "Sandy's Quik Stop" where she loved working and serving the public for 21 years. After closing the store she became associated with Vicki Isham at Howard's The Flower Shop. Several of her hobbies included cooking, entertaining family and friends, knitting, craft shows, bowling, traveling, and spending time with family. Sandy will always be remembered for her big heart and being there for anyone in need. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Parish and for the past 11 years very active in the Franklin County Relay for Life Cancer Walk.
In addition to her husband Lester of 41 years, Sandy leaves her children, Stacey Remillard (Kris) of Fairfield, Tiffany Hughes (Joseph) of Mesa, AZ and Adam Aylward (Alissa) of St. Albans; grandchildren, Devin, Jade and McKenna Remillard, Chase, Graham, Calvin, Kennedy and Brady Hughes, Arika and Alivia Aylward; Her father, Homer Paradis of St. Albans Bay; mother-in-law, Theresa Aylward of Fairfax; siblings, Rita Langlais, Larry Paradis, Mike Paradis, Debbie Begnoche and Glenn Paradis. Also surviving are several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sandy was predeceased by her mother June (Dew) Paradis and father-in-law, Arthur Aylward.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday May 18, 2013, at 11 a.m. from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 116 Church St., Fairfield Center. Father William P. Giroux will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at a later date in the Soule Cemetery, Fairfield.

James Patrick Brown

Born in Burlington on June 14, 1950, he was the son of the late Jeannine LaRiviere and Robert Brown. He attended Burlington High School and on November 8, 1980, was married to the former Kathleen Burnell who survives him.
Jim was self-employed for most of his working life owning and operating video stores in Swanton, Milton and Alburgh as well as the Broken Yoke Cafe in Swanton. He was also the owner of Three Forks Pizza in Randolph, South Royalton and Champlain, NY, Papa Jim's Pizzeria in St. Albans and most recently New England Treasures - Antiques and Restorations. In earlier years he had been employed as a printer for Bertek.
He was a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting with his sons and friends. He was an amazing storyteller and a man that was bigger than life, a compassionate, dedicated family man and friend to many.
Jim is survived by his wife and soul mate of 33 years, Kathleen M. Brown of Swanton; three sons, Adam Brown and his wife Alli of Burlington, Kyle Brown and wife Jennifer of Jeffersonville, Casey Brown and wife Heather of Swanton and his granddaughter Ryan Brown of Burlington. He also leaves nieces, Nicole and Samantha Burnell; nephews, Robert Burnell III and Alex Burnell and his mother and father-in-law, Robert Sr. and Jean Burnell. Also surviving are his adopted brothers, Christopher Conant and his predeceased wife Denise Conant, Robert Chevalier and his wife Kelly and Peter Chevalier and wife Jayne.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday May 22, 2013, at 6 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. Father Emmanuel I. Ajanma will officiate.

William W. Zweeres
....show , age 92 years, a lifelong Swanton resident, died early Wednesday morning May 22, 2013, in the Saint Albans Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Swanton on November 13, 1920, he was the son of the late Willard and Josephine (Hakey) Zweeres. He attended Swanton schools graduating from St. Anne's Academy in 1936. On January 16, 1946, he married the former Hazel Winters who predeceased him on April 23, 1983. On May 27, 1995, Bill was married to Germaine Gauthier Creller who survives him.
As a veteran of World War II, Bill served in the United States Army, Company A 360 Engineers, Ground Service Regiment in both Northern France and Rhineland. He received his honorable discharge on December 8, 1945. He was longtime member of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 of St. Albans and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Charles DaPrato Post 778 in Swanton.
For 26 years Bill was employed as a property clerk and parts manager for the Union Carbide Corporation of St. Albans. He was also well known throughout the area as a professional painting and wall papering contractor.
As a lifelong parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, he volunteered at the parish in many ways. He was head usher for many years and a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Edmund of Canterbury Council 7669. He and his wife Germaine were also active members of the Hi-Swans and Franklin County Senior Citizens.
In addition to his wife Germaine of Swanton, Bill leaves his daughters, Linda Brooks and her husband Norman of Greenville, NC; his sisters, Anita Honsinger of Swanton, Dorothy Gignac of St. Albans and Shirley Patterson of St. Albans Bay.
He was predeceased by six brothers, Nelson, Willard Jr., Donald, Alfred, Earl and Roy Zweeres.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday May 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton. Father Emmanuel I. ....show , age 86 years, a native of Noyan, Quebec and for the past 15 years a resident of S. Burlington, VT died Tuesday morning May 28, 2013, in the Franklin County Rehab Center in St. Albans.
Born in Noyan, Quebec Canada on May 15, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Clifford Hardy and Ruth May (Naylor) Hardy She attended schools in Canada and on November 23, 1955, was married to Hebert Peter Petersen who predeceased her on July 6, 2006. She became a naturalized citizen of the United States on July 7, 1994. She will be remembered as a devoted housewife who spent many years taking care of her mother and father.
Isabel leaves her cousins, Lorna and Erwin of Alburgh, VT, Sheila, Dianne, Donald and Richard, Rene, Alan, and Rose; Elaine, David, and Harold Nielson all of Quebec; longtime friends, Carroll and Joanne Lawes, Irene Hendee, Norma Hurteau and Ann Campbell and great neighbors, Laura Bousquet and Susan Haggerty.
Besides her husband of 50 years, Isabel was predeceased by a cousin, Joyce.

Merrill Joseph Corbiere
....show , age 73 years, a lifelong Swanton resident died Monday evening May 27, 2013, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility with loving family at his side.
Born in Swanton on February 23, 1940, he was the son of the late Archie and Dorcus (Duprey) Corbiere. He attended St. Anne's Academy and on September 19, 1959, was married to the former Lorraine Bean who survives him.
For 42 years Merrill has been associated with the Swanton Lumber Company. He thoroughly enjoyed working there and continued to work part time despite his long illness. In earlier years he had been employed at the Sheldon Pulp Mill, St Albans Town Highway Department and worked in sales for WWSR Radio. Merrill also faithfully served his country in the Vermont Army National Guard for nine years.
Merrill was well known throughout this area as an accomplished musician and composer. He was very proud of his Swanton heritage and one of his greatest accomplishments was composing and recording the song "Embers Glow on Merchants Row" which commemorated the tragic fire in 1970 that destroyed Swanton's business district. Over the years he played in several bands including the Waymen, County Classics, C&C Express and Red Wing. He also gave many guitar lessons and was a member of ASCAP. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan with Dustin Pedroia being his most favorite player. He coached Swanton Little League for many years and enjoyed gambling especially at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino.
He attended Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus St. Edmund of Canterbury Assembly #2207 in Swanton.
In addition to Lorraine his wife of 53 years, Merrill leaves his daughter, Kim Oakes and husband Victor of Sheldon; two sons, Randy Corbiere of Swanton and Robert Corbiere and wife Jennifer of St. Albans; grandchildren, Kalie and Joe Severy, Kellsey Oakes, Shawn and Erin Corbiere, Brady Corbiere, Danielle Corbiere, Kendall Corbiere, Ashley Dubuque, Andrew Corbiere and one great grandson, Brody Severy. Also surviving are two sisters and a brother, Ariel Berger, John Corbiere and wife Linda and Joan Lussier all of Swanton as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Susan Marie Rusnak
....show , age 44 years, a native of Swanton and more recently of S. Burlington died very unexpectedly Sunday May 19, 2013, while returning to Vermont from vacationing in California.
Born in St. Albans on February 16, 1969, she was the daughter of George and Mary (Cota) Rusnak. She graduated from Missisquoi Valley Union High School in 1987 and continued her education receiving in 1991 a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems from Clarkson University and in 1999 a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Vermont. She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority.
Susan began her career in the health services beginning with IDX and continuing until the time of her death as a Senior Software Support Analyst with GE Healthcare of S. Burlington. She was a team leader for the Health Ahead Physical Activity Element Team, directing the team to 100% certification. She was also a member of the Medical Response Team. Susan was also a certified Personal Trainer for the Aerobic and Fitness Administration as well as being certified in CPR and First Aid and since 1998 has been active in the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life in Franklin County.
Susan leaves her father and mother, George and Mary Rusnak of Swanton; her sister, Diane Szubrych, husband Steve and their daughter Alexa of Carpentersville, IL; her brother, Mark Rusnak his wife Amy and their two children Lindsay and Carly of Clifton Park, NY; her maternal grandmother, Anna Cota of Swanton as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Ida and George Rusnak, maternal grandfather, Leo Cota and her niece, Abby Szubrych.

Albert S. Nadeau, 97
....show , died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Copley Hospital on Sunday, May 26, 2013.
He was born on February 6, 1916 in Chicopee, MA, the son of Alfred and Elmire Nadeau, who shortly thereafter moved their young family to a farmstead in Johnson.
He married Anita Fournier of Johnson on July 9, 1940, and together, raised their nine children.
Albert led an active outdoor lifestyle, and was involved in all sorts of heavy construction and mining his entire adult life. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling, and raised AKA beagles for competition trials at venues throughout the northeast.
He joined the Army as a volunteer at the Albany, NY induction center in 1942, but his orders were soon rescinded by Washington officials when they realized that his many talents would be better utilized serving the war effort for the Defense Plant Corporation. His special "knack" for anything industrial, was put to use at several mines in the Adirondacks, which had been nationalized by President Roosevelt, with an intense focus on mining titanium for aircraft, and other military applications. He worked tireless hours on special welding projects and associated equipment.
When WWII ended in 1945, he moved his family to their current location in Johnson, where he founded Albert S. Nadeau Washed Sand and Gravel, the sand and stone company in operation to this day.
Albert was often consulted by others on various subject matters throughout the years, as his council was well respected regarding his humble, expert opinions and vast experiences. He was well known for his immense knowledge of three-phase electrical power, and special welding techniques, especially the difficult task of joining dissimilar metals, in addition to his many other natural attributes.
Albert is survived by his nine children: Andre' and wife, Sally, Essex, VT. Arthur and wife, Mary, Hartford, VT. Daughter Annette, Johnson, VT. Adrian and wife, Bonnie, Johnson, VT. Armand and companion, Debbie, Vernon, VT. Albert "Bert" and life-partner, Linda, Johnson, VT. Alex and wife, Lisa, Johnson, VT. Aime' and wife, Barbara, Hyde Park, VT. Daughter Aline, Westborough, MA. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and their spouses and significant others. A brother, Maurice, Lakeport, CA. Two sisters, Yvonne Allen Nye and husband, Norm, Johnson, VT, and Rita Davidson and companion, Winston, Craftsbury, VT.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Anita, the mother of his children, in 1996, and his brother, Roland, and sister, Vivianne Dezaine.
He married Jean Tourville on January 1, 1999. She added eight of her own children into the family, and several grand and great grandchildren. Jean has been a loving and constant companion and caregiver to us all through sickness and health.
Visiting hours are Friday, May 31, 2013, 4:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m., at Saint John The Apostle Catholic Church, St. John's Street, Johnson, Vermont.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013, also at Saint John's, 12:00 p.m. A burial service will follow at Lamoille View Cemetery, with a reception at VFW Post 7779 in Hyde Park. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Charlene F. Young
....show , age 60, a resident of the Machia Road died Tuesday morning June 4, 2013, at the Northwestern Medical Center with loving family at her side.
Born in St. Albans on November 26, 1952, she was the daughter of Pauline (Santor) Bruley and the late Harold Santor. She was raised and attended schools in Alburgh and on December 22, 1970, was married to Richard Edward Young who survives her.
As a devoted wife and mother Charlene adored her grandchildren. She was a life member of the Weight Watchers Program and enjoyed sitting in the sun. She often attended St. Anne's Shrine in Isle La Motte.
Besides her husband of 42 years, Charlene leaves her mother, Pauline (Bruley) Santor of S. Alburgh; her son Adam Young and his wife Melinda of Milton; two grandsons, Zachary and Thomas Young of Milton; three sisters, Carol Tyrrell, Colleen Pare and Cherrie Santor and a brother, Carlton Santor and his wife Rhonda all of S. Alburgh as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, Harold Santor, Charlene was predeceased by a son, Aaron Young and a sister Carmella Santor.

Ronald James Campbell
....show a lifelong Swanton resident died Friday evening June 7, 2013, on his 78th birthday, in the Franklin County Rehab Center with loving family at his side.
Born in Swanton on June 7, 1935, he was the son of the late Raymond and Bernadette (Lauzon) Campbell. He graduated from St. Anne's Academy and on February 8, 1958, was married to the former Raymona Brow who survives him. He was employed with Ayerst Laboratories in Rouses Point, NY retiring after 40 years of service. He was a loving and supportive father who took the time to laugh, play and dance with his children. He will always be remembered for his love of deer hunting and was known to spend the entire hunting season at his deer camp in Rochester, VT.
Ronald faithfully served his country in the Vermont Army National Guard receiving his training at both Ft. Knox, Kentucky and Ft. Benning Georgia. He was honorably discharged as a Captain on March 3, 1973.
In addition to his wife Raymona of 55 years, Ronald he leaves his five children, David Campbell and his wife Wendy of Swanton, Kathie Campbell of Milton, Lori Choiniere and husband Luke of Highgate Center, Ann-Marie Ross and husband Paul of Milton and Ronald Campbell and his wife Lisa also of Milton; grandchildren, Thomas and Shawn Reynolds and Justin Campbell; Kyle Costella; Rosie, Tony, Stephen and Lily Choiniere; Sean and Alyssa Ross; Lexi Boudreau, Raymond Merola III and Ashley and Nathan Campbell; great grandchildren, Olivia and Abigail Reynolds, Audrey and Ben Reynolds; Alexis Choiniere and Kiara Costella. Also surviving is a brother, James Campbell and his wife Nancy of Swanton and a sister, Stephanie Campbell of Morgan Hill, CA as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Rita LaBier and a brother, Donald Campbell.

Ida Rae (Mulheron) Barney

Born in St. Albans on January 13, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Ezra and Ella (Lashway) Mulheron. She attended St. Anne's Academy and was later married to Gerald Barney who survives her.
In addition to her responsibilities as a devoted wife and mother, Rae was employed by the Softlite Company in Swanton and later at IBM of Essex Junction. She was a lifelong parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Besides her husband Gerald of 62 years, Rae leaves two sons, Patrick Barney of Texas and Joseph Barney of California; two daughters, Sally Krupp and her husband Robert of St. Albans and Kelly Heinlein and husband John of Highgate; grandchildren, Matthew and Courtney Aucoin of Windsor, Emily Aucoin of Colchester, Aubree Bovat and James Bodaky of St. Albans and Ashley Bovat of Boston; great grandchild, Nya Aucoin and step great grandchildren, Evelyn Krupp Gordon, Kaidon and Zander King; Step-grandchildren, Jeremy and Christine Heinlein of North Carolina, Katherine Heinlein and Devin Quinlan of St. Albans, Kaili Krupp and Bobby Krupp of St. Albans. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Lorraine Mulheron of Florida, a special niece and friend, Myrna Flanagan of Highgate as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Rae was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sara Rae Aucoin; a son-in-law, Mark Aucoin and her brothers and sisters, Ezra "Zing" Mulheron, Anthony "Ralph" Mulheron and his wife Mona, Arthur Mulheron and wife Hazel, Hazel Allen and husband William, Harriet Rocheleau and husband George and Mildred Brennan and husband Gilbert.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 1, 2013, at 12 Noon from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. The Reverend Anne Torrance Bachmann will officiate. Interment will follow at the Craig family lot in the East Highgate Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, July 1, 2013, from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of the funeral.

Eleanor Louise Gaboury
....show , age 76 years, died unexpectedly Saturday June 22, 2013, at her home on Maquam Shore.
Born Eleanor Louise Hatfield on November 24, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (Brosseau) Hatfield. Eleanor was raised in St. Albans, VT with five sisters, Carol, Betty, Sally (deceased), Beverly (deceased) and Patricia. She attended Holy Angels Parochial School graduating in the Class of 1954.
On November 24, 1954, Eleanor married Paul Edward Gaboury, they were married for nearly 59 years and raised six children.
Eleanor loved her husband and children dearly and dedicated her life to her family. After raising her children, she enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as "GG". She was a very kind, generous and unselfish woman, always willing to lend a helping hand to a friend in need and put everyone else's needs before her own. She was also involved in volunteer work throughout the community including the Swanton Community Food Shelf and volunteering at the Northwestern Medical Center and the Franklin County Rehab. Eleanor enjoyed spending time with her family, especially gatherings at camp, playing Bingo, cards and watching old movies. She also loved animals.
In addition to her husband Paul E. Gaboury, Eleanor is survived by five of her six children, Paul C. Gaboury (deceased), Robin Gaboury, Melissa and Dale Colgan, Cindy and (Paul Medor, (deceased), David and Lori Gaboury and Christopher Gaboury; grandchildren, Melissa Medor, Nicky and Arthur Houle, Jason and Ashley Medor, Kelcey Colgan, Nikita and Chad Hatin, Eric Colgan, Logan Gaboury and Leah Gaboury; great grandchildren, Brianna Lyford, Jason Medor, Jr., Mason Medor, Mikayla Medor and Gage Rembert.
Eleanor touched many lives as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend and she will be missed dearly. She will be remembered by her family as the "best" grandmother ever.
At Eleanor's specific request there were no public calling hours. A private family funeral service was held Wednesday June 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home. Father Emmanuel I. Ajanma officiated. The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Gaboury family lot in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery. The bearers were Dale Colgan, Eric Colgan, Jason Medor, Art Houle and Logan Gaboury.
Renée Helen Boucher
....show , age 23 years, died unexpectedly Sunday June 30, 2013.
Born in St. Albans, Vermont on January 13, 1990, she was the daughter of Denis and Deborah (Toof) Boucher. Renée was a 2008 graduate of Missisquoi Valley Union High School and participated in several varsity sports as well as most of the schools extracurricular activities. Over the past several years she worked at least two jobs at a time while continuing her education attending Wagner College on Staten Island, Champlain College, Johnson State College and Community College of Vermont.
Since high school Renée's main focus in life was working and helping people in need. She worked in several area schools concentrating on the education and development of young people, especially those with special needs. At the time of her death she was working in administration for the family business, G. Boucher Fertilizer and Boucher Farm. She had great love and sense of pride for her family, friends and pets. Renée was always willing to be a friend and make a friend.
Besides her parents, Denis and Deborah Boucher of Highgate Center, Renée leaves her sister, Cassandra Boucher and special friend Dustin Circe; paternal grandparents, Gilbert and Gemma Boucher of Highgate Center; maternal grandparents, Ann Clark and Loren Lothian of Franklin and Richard and Carolyn Toof of Essex Junction; aunts and uncles, Dan and Dawn Boucher, Giles and Kim Boucher (Godparents), Patrick Boucher and fiancée Sharon Stafford, Pam Toof, Mark and Melissa Toof, Eric and Dawne Meyers, Laurie Serianni and Richard and Pauline Serianni; cousins, Kevin, Paige, Kayleigh, Brooke, Saige, Jack, Matt and Megan. Renee is also survived by very special family friends and extended family, Sister Mary Ellen Theriault, OSU of Weston and Tim, Martha, Danielle and Desiree Magnant of Franklin.
Renée was predeceased by her very special friends, great uncle Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE on August 23, 2009 and Sister Joan Sirtowt, OSU on June 11, 2010.

Arthur Gaylon Davis
....show , age 81 years, died early Monday morning July 8, 2013, in the Northwestern Medical Center with loving family at his side.
Born in Johnson, Vermont on July 29, 1931, he was the son of the late Gaylon Perkins Davis and Evelyn (Sanborn) Davis. He was raised on a dairy farm, attended Johnson schools and for several years worked various jobs. He will be best remembered for the nearly 30 years that he served as a Park Ranger for the State of Vermont Division of Forests and Parks.
Arthur faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Era and was a member the American Legion, Post #12 in Richford. He was also a longtime member of the Waterman Lodge, #83, F&AM.
He leaves his son Arthur Davis Jr. and his wife Diane of Franklin; his daughter, Evelyn Menard and her husband Michael of Swanton; four grandchildren, Tina Pelletier and her husband John, Melissa Davis and partner Paul Rainville, Heather Davis and partner Joshua Poirier and Michael Menard; four great grandchildren, Brenden and McKenna Pelletier, Arthur Jeffrey Dennett and his father Jacy Dennett and Owen Davis-Tinker; two brothers, Gordon Davis and Wilmer Davis and wife Carol all of Johnson; a sister-in-law, Claudette Davis of Johnson as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Warren Davis on February 8, of this year.

Fernand Julian Dupere
....show , age 91 years, a longtime Alburgh resident died Tuesday afternoon, July 9, 2013 in the Franklin County Rehab Center with loving family at his side.
Born in Bromptonville, Quebec Canada on December 19, 1921, he was the son of the late Joseph and Esmeralda (Godbout) Dupere. On June 8, 1944, he married the former Agnes Jerry who survives him. For most of his working life, Mr. Dupere owned and operated several area dairy farms and was very involved in logging. He also was associated for several years as groundskeeper for Saint Anne's Shrine in Isle La Motte.
He will be remembered by all who knew him to be an avid fisherman who also enjoyed his pipe, drinking Pepsi and reading western novels. He was a longtime parishioner of Saint Amadeus Parish in Alburgh and regularly attended Saint Joseph's Mission in Isle La Motte.
In addition to Agnes his wife of 69 years, Mr. Dupere leaves three sons and their wives, Kenneth and Veronica Dupere of Champlain, NY, Fernand Jr. and Cynthia Dupere of Southampton, MA and Dennis and Diane Dupere of St. Albans, VT; two daughters and their husbands, Marie and John Quain of Rouses Point, NY and Jeanette and Donald Pageau of Merrill, NY; 13 grandchildren, Bridget Graham, Megan Quain, Michele Durocher, Lt. Col James, Jeffrey and Jacqueline Gonyo, Jennifer Bouzidane, Russell, Adam, Jesse, Christopher, Jason Dupere and Amber Bogacz; three, step-grandchildren, Heather Gaebel, Christopher Pageau and Michelle Gamache; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Jerry of Northfield, VT and Rita Jerry of Sun City, AZ; 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son Rosaire Dupere in February of 1962; four sisters, Mary Jane Valliere, Olivet Brassard, Felecia Calarco and Madeline Tafflin; three brothers, Maurice, Oscar and Camile Dupere and two very special fishing friends, Arthur and Stanley Aylward.

Ronald Clee Whitesell
....show , 79, passed away Friday afternoon July 12, 2013, at his Alburgh Springs home.
He was born on February 4, 1934, in Washington, DC, the son of the late Clee and Virginia (Davidson) Whitesell.
Ron is survived by his wife of 40 years, the former Joan Tremblay of Alburgh Springs; his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Michael Lasko of Woodbridge, VA; his son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Lisa Whitesell of Stafford, VA and, his son and daughter-in-law, David and Severina Whitesell of Stafford, VA.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Gregory and Kelly Ames, Holly, Thomas, Jordan, Emily and Clee Whitesell and one great grandson, Andrew Sylvester-Ames.
Ron served in the U.S. Navy Reserve for three years and the U.S. Army Reserve for nine years. He was employed by the U.S. Geological Survey in Reston, VA as a Cartographer for over 30 years.
He was a 50 year member of the Free and Accepted Masons, belonging to Columbus Lodge No. 11 in Alburgh and Columbia Lodge No. 285 in Arlington, VA. He was also a member of Columbia Chapter No.76, Order of the Eastern Star in Alburgh.
Ron's hobbies included Corvette restoration and photography. He loved attending and competing in car shows. He belonged to Corvette Clubs and Cruise Clubs in both Virginia and Vermont.
Graveside services will be held at a later date.

Carlton "Cullie" Sturgeon
....show , age 89 years, died Friday morning July 12, 2013, at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford where he has resided for the past four years.
Born in Alburgh on August 3, 1923, he was the son of the late Nelson and Mable (Hunter) Sturgeon. He attended Alburgh schools and on March 9, 1943, was married to the former Ruth Aubin who predeceased him on October 24, 2010.
Natives of Alburgh Cullie and Ruth have lived in the Isle La Motte community for many years. They were lifelong parishioners of St. Amadeus Parish Alburgh and St. Joseph's Mission in Isle La Motte.
From 1964 until retiring in 1986 they lived in Connecticut where Cullie was employed for 21 years at the University of Connecticut Dairy Farm. He will be remembered by many for his love of hunting, ice fishing and gardening.
He leaves his daughter, Shirley LaBombard and her husband Tom of Isle La Motte; two sons, Carlton Sturgeon, Jr., and his wife Marie of Isle La Motte and Duane Sturgeon and his wife Fay of Champlain, NY; a son-in-law, Robert LaBombard of Alburgh; five grandchildren, Aimee and Mark Grimes of Isle La Motte, Karen Favro and companion Ron of Champlain, NY, Shane Sturgeon of Grand Isle, Melanie LaBombard of Isle La Motte and Robert LaBombard and wife Alissa of East Alburgh; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and his wife Ruth, Cullie was predeceased by a daughter, Norman Jean LaBombard on September 13, 2008; two sisters, Leona Jordan and Arlene Ingram and a brother Adrian Sturgeon.

Mrs. Beatrice Madeline Gagne
....show , age 97 years, died early Tuesday morning July16, 2013, in the Northwestern Medical Center with loving family at her side.
Born at home in Highgate Center on May 29, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Edouard and Ozanna (Gagne) Laroche. She attended a one room school house in Highgate and on September 12, 1932, was married to Pierre Charles Gagne who predeceased her on May 22, 1976. In earlier years she had worked as a seamstress for Pedigree USA.
A native of Highgate Center, Bea lived for 35 years in the Springfield, Mass area returning to Highgate and Swanton in 1971. She was a lifelong, faithful and devoted parishioner of Saint Louis Roman Catholic Church serving as a religious education teacher and member of the Ladies of Saint Anne for many years. She and her sister Alberta also provided music for countless Masses that were celebrated over the years at Saint Louis. Bea had a fervent devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary as well as a great love for her children, grandchildren and all of her family.
Bea leaves two sons, Jean Louis Gerard Gagne and his wife Pauline of Chicopee, MA and Cyrille Leonide Gagne and his wife Karen of Highgate Center; three daughters, Lina Alberta Roberge and husband George of Montague, MA, Rolande Cecile Renaud of Chicopee, MA and Dianne Rita Laroche and husband Gerald of Highgate Center; 26 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and many many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Beatrice was predeceased by a daughter, Lillian Annette Stenta on July 7, 2002; a grandson, Carter Leonide Gagne on March 10, 2011; seven brothers, Albert, Henri, Omer, Narcisse, Wilfred, Leonide and Gedeon Laroche and three sisters, Valida Pinsonnault, Blanche Kirouac and Alberta Gagne; two sons-in-law, Mark Stenta Sr. and Anthony Renaud, a daughter-in-law, Rita Gagne and 12 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Bea's family would like to express their sincerest thanks and appreciation to all of her extended family and special caregivers at the St. Albans Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for all that they have done for Bea during her nearly three year stay with them.

Born in Magog, Canada, on May 15, 1927, of Arthur and Marianna LeBlanc. Rita and her husband Francis owned and operated a store and meat market in Vermont. She retired in Lake Worth Florida before settling in Lexington.
Rita is pre-deceased by 3 brothers and one sister.
She leaves her beloved husband, Francis, of 65 years. She leaves her two son’s Mike Ste. Marie, and Phil and wife MaryLou Ste. Marie, and daughter Diane Ste. Marie. She leaves 5 grandchildren, Tracy Ste. Marie and husband Daniel Yohannes, Christopher and wife Jamie Ste. Marie, Chad Ste. Marie and Shanna, Chelsie and husband Christian Novak, and Bethany Anderson. She leaves 3 great-grandchildren, Nico, Zachery, and Camryn; and one great-grandson on the way.

Harold John Lemnah
....show , age 86, a longtime resident of 47 Greenwich St., died late Thursday afternoon, July 18, 2013, in the Saint Albans Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center with loving family at his side.
Born in Fairfield on September 13, 1927, he was the son of the late Azos and Helen (Tabor) Lemnah. He received his early education in Fairfield and later attended BFA-St. Albans. On September 8, 1956 he married the former Marlene Gonyo who survives him. For 31 years Harold was associated as a flooring installer at the former Wood & Kidder Furniture Store in St. Albans Town In earlier years he had been employed by the Gilbert Candy Co in Swanton. and H.P. Hood of St. Albans. He was an avid red Sox fan and gardner.
He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was a longtime member of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post #1 St. Albans and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Charles DaPrato Post 778 in Swanton.
In addition to his wife Marlene of 57 years, Harold leaves his daughter Kelly Chevalier and her husband Robert of Swanton; two sons, Michael John Lemnah of Swanton and Shaun Thomas Lemnah and his wife Helene of Quincy, CA, two sisters, Marion Reynolds of St. Albans and Ruth Lemnah of Burlington; five grandchildren; Shaun Chevalier, Matthew Chevalier, Nicole Carpenter, Alex Lemnah and Emmanuel Lemnah; eight great grandchildren, Ashton, Lucy and Madison Chevalier, Aidan, Olivia, Emma, Parker and Finn Carpenter and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Austine Desautel and three brothers, Robert, Carlton and Allan.
A Private Funeral Service was held today, Monday July 22, 2013, at 3 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Father Emmanuel I. Ajanma officiated. Music was provided by soloist Claire Chevalier Hungerford accompanied by Harold's son-in-law, Robert Chevalier. The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Lemnah family lot in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery. Full Military Honors were accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Army National Guard, Funeral Honors Team.
Tyler Mitchell Rheaume
....show , age 16 years, a resident of Maple Glen Road in Sheldon died Friday July 19, 2013, from injuries received in a tragic automobile accident.
Born in St. Albans on July 1, 1997, he was the son of Mitchell Roy Rheaume and Shannon Yvonne Gazaille. A student at Missisquoi Valley Union High School Tyler was about to enter his junior year. He enjoyed school sports playing junior varsity basketball and was about to enter Missisquoi's Varsity Basketball Program. He had also been very active in playing middle school baseball.
Tyler enjoyed fishing, four wheeling, dirt biking and especially working construction with his Dad at their business M&T Drywall. He loved his nachos, chocolate chip cookies and strawberry short cake. Tyler will be remembered for his infectious smile and for always wearing his Christian Cross.
He leaves his father, Mitchell Roy Rheaume and his step-mom, Carrie Robtoy of Sheldon; his mother Shannon Yvonne Gazaille of Alburgh; three brothers, Ryder Rheaume of Sheldon and Wyatt and Elias Lussier of Alburgh; Paternal Granna, Betty Ann Gamache and Pappa, David Barnum of Franklin; Pappa Roy Mitchell Rheaume and Cathy Zweeres of Swanton; maternal grandfather, Luke Gazaille of Bedford, Quebec and great-grandmother, Eva Rheaume of Georgia. aunt and uncle Rachel and Joel Jarvis and their children, Brianna and Trey of Highgate; special family members, Eric and Laurie Kurtz and family; best friend, Emily Robtoy and her family as well as many many additional family members and friends.

Born in Swanton on January 30, 1947, he was the son of the late Sylvio and Ruby (Wells) Quilliam. He attended the former Saint Anne's Academy and has worked on the family dairy farm all of his life. He was a lifelong parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
David leaves his two sisters and their husbands, Agnes and Clayton Bouchard of Swanton and Eileen and Andy Gagne of St. Albans; two brothers, Edward Quilliam of St. Albans City and Robert and his wife Shirley Quilliam of Swanton as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents David was predeceased by a brother, Paul Quilliam in 2011 and a sister-in-law, Jane Quilliam in 2005

Georgieanna (Wagner) Arms
....show , 87 of Randolph, Vermont passed away peacefully in the loving comfort of her family on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
Georgianna was born in Oak Park, IL on November 26, 1925, the daughter of the late George and Lucille (Walsh) Wagner. She was very adventurous as a child she enjoyed travelling on her own at a very young age, taking long train rides to visit family and friends. She enjoyed trips to Chicago, riding the “L” for shopping sprees with her mother. One of her greatest passions as a child was dance she became an accomplished ballet dancer. During the war years she was a factory worker. Georgie attended Michigan State University where she completed her bachelor’s degree. While at Michigan State, she met the love of her life, Dr. Robert Chadwick Arms. Georgianna and Bob were married on October 11, 1947 in her home town of Oak Park, Illinois. Shortly after marrying, Georgie and Bob moved to Randolph, Vermont where they settled into the rhythm of life, starting a family and running their business – the Randolph Animal Hospital. Bob was the local veterinarian and Georgie supported the business as the office manager and book-keeper. Georgie was quite social enjoying the company of friends and family. In her later years she found enjoyment doing her daily pool exercises at VTC, taking pleasure in the physical activity but mostly good laughs and social times with the girls. Georgie was an amazing cook. She loved trying new recipes and sharing good food and good cocktails with her family and friends. She was a voracious reader, reading anything and everything that she could get her hands on from the Harry Potter series, to new cookbooks and the bible. Over the years she developed a very close relationship with Barbara Arms updating each other on family events with their weekly Sunday morning calls. She loved hosting family gatherings at her home in Randolph at any time but especially during the holidays. She loved the many reunion trips with family at the Cape and in Rockport, MA – being “porch potatoes” and enjoying a variety of other vacation activities.
Georgianna was predeceased by her husband Dr. Robert Chadwick Arms on July 14, 2001. She is survived by her sons Robert, Richard and Ronald Arms and their families. She has five grandchildren and three great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews.
Georgie was an amazing strong woman, a loving mother, wife and friend. We will miss her strength, her courage and her level-headed guidance but her passion and love of family will live on in the lives of those she touched most. We will carry her strength and her spirit with us always and ensure that her legacy of love continues on.
Visiting hours will be held at Day Funeral Home, 4 Franklin St. Randolph, Vermont on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM with a memorial service at 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Lakeview Cemetery, Burlington, Vermont. Clinton "Calhoun" Deo
....show , age 88 years, a lifelong resident of the Isle La Motte Community, died from natural causes Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the Northwestern Medical Center.
Born at home in Isle La Motte, he was the son of the late Minnie Bushway. He attended schools in Isle La Motte and on August 19, 1949, was married to the former Elaine Griggs who predeceased him on March 8, 2000. Mr. Deo owned and operated a dairy and beef farm on the island for most all of his working life. In earlier years he had also worked for the Isle La Motte Quarry.
He is survived by his daughter, Totyona (Deo) Hall; his son, Wayne Deo; former daughter-in-law, Dinah Deo; grandson, William (Bill) Deo; granddaughters, Tamara (Hall) Washburn and Rebecca Hall and a great grandson, Aiden Washburn.
At Mr. Deo's request there will be no public visiting hours or funeral at this time.
Ellen Rose Dimick
....show a lifelong resident of Hardwick died August 2, 2013 at Copley Hospital in Morrisville. She was born in Cabot August 31 1922 the daughter of Edward and Gertrude (Baylaw) Gamble. During her life she assisted her husband David in their rubbish collection business, was employed at Woolworth’s store in St. Johnsbury, Ware-Knitters, of Hardwick, St. J. Gloves and McFeeters Store in East Hardwick. In addition Ellen worked for several local families.
Survivors include her son Lawrence (Larry) Dimick and his wife Darleena as well as 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Ellen was predeceased by her husband David, her brothers: Richard, John, William and Robert Gamble. Also by her sisters: Marjorie Rodgers, Mary Salls, Rosetta Gamble and Lena Wilkins.
Graveside services will be at a later date.
Leo Oscar Lemay
....show , 71, of Walden died at home on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 in the loving care of his wife.
He was born March 23, 1942, in Walden, Vermont to Ovila and Alice (Messier) Lemay. At age 24, he met and married the love of his life, Louiselle Lemay. They were married on June 11, 1966, and were blessed with four daughters.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Louiselle; 4 daughters; Lisa Searles and husband, Paul, Patricia Loura and husband, Aaron, Linda Lemay-Richard and husband, Shawn, Karen Field and husband, Dana; 7 grandchildren; Denise Searles, Tonya Searles, Haley Loura, Shelby Loura, Ashley Field, Chelsea Field and Ryan Richard; 2 great grandchildren; Devon Katon, Kaylee Searles.
The funeral will be on Tuesday, August 6th at 11 am at St. Michaels Church in Greensboro, Vermont.
Ernest George "Buck" Lockerby, Jr.
....show , age 64 years, died early Sunday morning, August 4, 2013, in the Saint Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Isle La Motte, Vermont on, December 29, 1948, he was the son of the late Ernest George Sr. and Blanche Irene (Curtis) Lockerby. He attended Isle La Motte schools and served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam Era.
Buck will be remembered for his sense of adventure from parachuting to deep sea diving and was always ready to tell or laugh at a good joke.
He leaves behind nephews, John and Jeff Fleury and their families; seven additional nieces, nephews and their families and many great and great great nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents Buck was predeceased by his sister, Laura Fleury and two brothers, Clarence and David Lockerby.
Funeral Service will be private and at the convenience of the family.
David Everette Duprey, Sr.
....show , age 72 years, a resident of the Parizo Road died unexpectedly Friday afternoon August 9, 2013, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility.
Born in St. Albans on September 11, 1940, he was the son of the late Abraham and Ines (Robinson) Duprey. He attended schools in St. Albans and on March 30, 1962, was married to the former Barbara Bohannon who survives him.
He was a truck driver and self-employed for many years.
David will always be remembered as a very kind and gentle man, always making himself available to anyone in need and expecting nothing in return. He participated in several bowling leagues receiving many trophies, enjoyed four wheeling, Bingo and especially participating in the LCI Fishing Derby with his son and grandson. He will also be remembered by many in the area for selling his beautiful Christmas trees.
In addition to his wife Barbara of 51 years, David leaves two daughters, Judy Durenleau and her husband Ronnie and Tina Duprey all of Highgate; his son, David Duprey Jr. of Swanton; three grandchildren, Justin Fadden Duprey, Riley Fadden Duprey and Shaylyn Durenleau; a brother Buddy Duprey; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jake and Claireta Sartwell of Highgate, Floyd Bohannon of Swanton and Robin Pierce of St. Albans as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents David was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Pierce.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday August 14, 2013, at 10 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. The Reverend Anne Torrance Bachmann will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Amy Butler Bruce
....show , age 35 years, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning August 11, 2013, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts, following a short but valiant struggle with Auto Immune Hepatitis.
Born in St. Albans, Vermont on June 19, 1978, she was the "beloved" daughter of Steven and Kathy (Burns) Butler and was a 1996 graduate of Missisquoi Valley Union High School. For the past 10 years Amy has been associated in inventory control at the St. Albans Cooperative Creamery.
Amy enjoyed interior decorating, camping, zumba and especially shopping. However spending time with her family including nightly phone calls with her mother, Sunday dinner and working at the sugar house were the most important things in her life.
In addition to her parents, Kathy and Steve of West Swanton, Amy leaves two beautiful daughters, Brooklyn Bruce and Bailey Popple and her fiancé, Cory Popple all of Highgate Springs; her brother, Jason Butler and his wife Carrie and two very special nephews, Jaden and Grady Butler all of Franklin; maternal grandmother, Shirley Burns of St. Albans; paternal grandmothers, Beverly Beyor and Shirley Butler both of St. Albans as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Lewis Burns and paternal grandfathers, Francis Butler and Carlton Beyor.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday August 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. The Reverend Anne Torrance Bachmann will officiate. Interment will follow at the Butler family lot in Riverside Cemetery.
