LANCASTER – William C. “Willie” Brown
....show , 79, of Riverside Drive, died at his home Thursday morning June 6, 2013 surrounded by his family.
Mr. Brown was born in Berlin on February 14, 1934 the son of Elwin and Lindall (Call) Brown.
He was raised and attended schools in Berlin and Lancaster. For many years he worked for Jay Gould and was also self employed as a logger. For 10 years he was employed with Central Paving until he retired due to health.
Willie loved stock car racing and was a former race car driver. In 1965 he was the track champion at Riverside Speedway in Groveton. He also enjoyed the outdoors and travelling.
Family members include his wife Anne K. (Libby) Brown of Lancaster; four children, William Brown of Florida, Richard Brown of Lancaster, Susan Roby of Groveton, Timothy Brown of Lancaster; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There are no visiting hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
William (Bill/Bucky) King Bucklin Sr
....show , 76, of Lunenburg, Vermont, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 13, 2013. Bill fought a long and courageous battle with Mesothelioma (asbestos cancer) and passed away at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on July 23, 1936, in Rutland, Vermont, Bill was the oldest son of Nathaniel and Evelyn (King) Bucklin. Married on October 14, 1972, Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Marian Ellen LaValley-Bucklin of Lunenburg, Vermont.
Bill is survived by his oldest son William K. Bucklin Jr. of Merrimack, NH; 2 daughters, Laurie A. Comings of Lancaster, NH and Karen L. White of Stuttgart, Germany, step-son Howard (Marsh) Johnson of New York; Brother, Robert Bucklin and wife Carla Bucklin of Plainfield, NH; 2 sisters, Linda Kenison of Concord, NH and Nancy Bucklin-Malaney of Lewiston, MT; 9 Grandchildren Abigail Bucklin, Hillary Bucklin, Aaron W Comings, Alicia M Coming, Katrina N White, Raymond R White, Stephanie Johnson, Howard M. Johnson Jr., Helen M Johnson, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by step-son Bert Johnson of Lunenburg, VT.
Bill, a true Vermonter through and through, enjoyed a variety of hobbies and passions from snow machines to automobiles. Known to his dear friends at Sherman Motors as “Buckshot,” Bill never met an automobile (or a good deal) he did not like! He loved antique cars and trucks; he had an extensive knowledge of all things with motors and wheels! Bill was a lifetime member of the Lancaster Snow Drifters Association. As a world class snowmobile racer, Bill was the first winner of the coveted Kilkenny Cup in 1966. As an active member of his church, Union Baptist in Waterford, VT, Bill took three volunteer missionary trips to Victory Bible Camp in Sutton Alaska. Bill loved to travel, spending time in Florida, Germany, Mexico, Alaska and Hawaii. Bill was an avid hunter and woodsman...competing and winning several chainsaw racing contests. He served as a volunteer fireman for the Lancaster and Lunenburg fire departments. A Veteran of the U.S. Army and trained in topography and photolithography, Bill was a member of the American Legion in Groveton, NH. “Bucky” loved reminiscing with his family and friends, and his frequent walks down memory lane brought many a smile and a laugh.

GUILDHALL, VT – William L. Berry
....show , 48, of Fellows Road, died peacefully at his home Tuesday morning July 9, 2013 surrounded by his wife and family.
Mr. Berry was born in Augusta, Maine on November 28, 1964 the son of Harold E. and Nancy L. (Bean) Berry.
In the late 70’s he moved with his family to Lancaster and attended White Mountain Regional High School.
Eventually moving to Guildhall he built his own home from the land he cleared there.
Will was a self employed logger who enjoyed the outdoors.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, jeeping, four wheeling and gardening, sharing his harvest with friends and family.
Other favorite pastimes were going to camp in Maine, creating rock gardens at his homestead, grilling for family get-togethers, sitting around his burn pit with family and friends, competing in the dart league and spending all his time with his best friend Axle. Fall was Wills favorite time of year.
Family members include his wife Lynn R. (Fontaine) Berry of Guildhall; a son Eric Berry of Lunenburg; a step-son Charlie Burt of Lunenburg; his mother Nancy of Lancaster; a granddaughter Dazie Berry; a brother Andy Berry and wife Lori of Guildhall; two sisters Carol (Berry) Stickney and husband David of Lancaster, Lorie (Berry) Sullivan and husband Kevin of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews. His father predeceased him in 1995
Memorial visiting hours will be held Thursday evening July 18 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ, Lancaster, NH.
A memorial service will be held there Friday morning at 11:00 AM.

....show , 63, of Bunker Hill Street, died Monday December 23, 2013 at the Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, NH.
Mrs. Theroux was born October 18, 1950 in Willimantic, CT the daughter of Elmer G. and Claire (Tremblay) Sargent.
She attended Northwest Catholic High School, West Hartford, CT, graduating in 1968.
In 1970 she graduated from the Art Student League in New York, NY.
In 1986 she graduated from Mitchell College in New London, CT with an associate’s degree in psychology and in 1988 graduated from Connecticut College in New London with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology Magna Cum Laude.
Terri was a former recreation director at Mary Kenny Nursing Home in Waterford, CT and she owned and operated Dream Design, LLC, an arts and crafts home business.
She was also a licensed instructor for Japanese bunka embroidery for Waterford Parks and Recreation and was a member of the marriage encounter team for 3 years in Waterford, CT.
Her greatest joy was staying at home and caring for her family, among them her husband Paul and her two children Christopher and Rebecca.
She maintained her love of writing, arts, crafts, quilting, and other related pursuits throughout her entire life.
She moved with her family to Lancaster, NH in November 2002 where she would stay for the remainder of her life.
She is survived by her husband Paul, and two children, Christopher and his wife Kelly of Montpelier and Rebecca of Lancaster.
She was predeceased by her parents, Elmer and Claire Sargent, and five children, Chad, Heather, David, Paul and Hope.

WHITEFIELD – Thomas J. Weitbercht
....show , 71, of Hall Road, died at his home Monday morning, November 25, 2013.
He was born in St. Louis, Missouri the son of Thomas S. and Catherine K. Weitbercht.
Mr. Weitbercht was former pilot for the US Coast Guard and was licensed to fly planes and helicopters.
For a time he was also a tractor trailer driver.
Residing in the North Country since the late 1980’s he was best remembered for the many years he delivered local Meals on Wheels.
He is survived by his wife Theresa (Brun) Lelievre-Weitbercht of Whitefield.
There are no visiting hours.
A private graveside service will be held in the spring.

MAIDSTONE - Timothy Stephen Gormley, Sr.
....show , 73, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Maidstone Lake, Vermont, died on July 6, 2013 at his home on the lake after a long illness.
He was born in Lancaster on Elm Street.
His parents are the late Franklin Joseph and M. Patricia O’Leary Gormley.
He is survived by his sisters, Sally Hanaway of Port Orange, FL, and Susan Jacklin of Alton, NH.
He was predeceased by his sisters Nancy Bue and Patricia Hall.
He loved his Irish heritage.
Timothy was a retired school superintendent in two states (Maine and New Hampshire) and taught and administered on all levels of public school education.
At age 17 in his senior year at Lancaster Academy, he left high school and joined the United States Air Force.
He served as an air traffic controller and earned his high school equivalency.
He went on to graduate from Plymouth State, the University of New Hampshire, and Boston University, earning advanced education degrees.
He was a charter member in Vermont of Phi Delta Kappa. He was a life member of the National Education Association.
In his public service, he received many awards, including Rotarian of the Year and Andrus Award recipient, AARP.
He served in many capacities, a favorite AARP as Executive Board Member, New Hampshire, and President, Concord Chapter.
Timothy was nominated to serve on the State Committee on Aging (SCOA) by Governor John Lynch.
He also served on the Executive Board of Northeast Quality Healthcare Foundation.
His family includes his loving wife, Geraldine, of 48 years, who cared for him when he was a patient in home hospice. They have two sons, Timothy, Jr., a radiologist in Washington, and F. Joseph, a founder of the law firm Baldwin, Kagan, and Gormley, LLC, Annapolis, Maryland.
When the boys were early teens, their father offered them flight lessons, and both did solo flights at 16.
So that they could do trail rides at Maidstone, each was given a 125 Kawasaki motorcycle, which was also street legal. A favorite treat was the purchase of comic books, one for each.
Tim, Jr., and his wife, Miriam, have four children, Timothy III, Gillian, Gretchen, and John. Timothy III continues with flight lessons.
F. Joseph and his wife, Erin, have two sons, Matthew and Ben.
Most of all, the grandparents enjoyed their time at Maidstone with their six grandchildren. There are no visiting hours.
A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday July 20 at 1:00 PM at All Saints Church in Lancaster. The family requests that in Tim’s honor in lieu of flowers that you help a senior citizen and be kind to children.
LANCASTER – Virginia R. Richardson
....show , 88, of Kilkenny street, died at her home Sunday September 22, 2013.
Mrs. Richardson was born in Lisbon on January 6, 1925 the daughter of Wilfred L. and Mona (Coffin) Owen.
Virginia was raised for a time in Danville until her family moved to Berlin.
She graduated from Berlin High School and attended the University of New Hampshire.
Her life passion was working as a librarian.
For a brief time she was a librarian in the Berlin Public Library and for approximately 40 years she served as librarian at Weeks Memorial Library.
She was also an accomplished musician and was once first chair All New England on the clarinet.
Reading and knitting were her favorite pastimes and she donated countless items to the community Mitten Tree for years.
Family members include her two daughters Barbara Long of Oakham, MA, Leslie Richardson of Nashua; a brother James Owen and his wife Lucia of E. Stoneham, ME; 3 grandchildren; a great-grandson and nieces and nephews. Her husband Joseph C. Richardson predeceased her in 2004.

JEFFERSON, NH – John B. Nay
....show , 83 of Jefferson, NH died on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Weeks Memorial Hospital in Lancaster, NH.
He was the son of Harford and Roma Nay and is survived by his wife of 38 years, Bernadette Nay; his children, Diane Nay White of Strafford, VT, John Nay Jr. of Arlington, MA, a stepson Edward Breagy of Concord, NH and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
John attended local schools, graduating from Lancaster Academy in 1948.
He received his Bachelor of Education from Keene State College in 1952 majoring in Industrial Arts.
Following graduation he served in the US Army as an instructor at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds.
Upon discharge he became a faculty member at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH where he remained for 11 years as an Industrial Arts teacher and Guidance Counselor.
During this period and in subsequent years he earned his Masters Degree in Education and a Certificate of Advanced Study.
He was director of Guidance at Groveton High School from 1965 to 1969 when he became a one year recipient of a Ford Foundation Fellowship.
He then became a founding member of North Country Education Services until he became a consultant in the New Hampshire Department of Education where he remained until his retirement in 1991.
He was active in the Masonic Fraternity where he twice served as the Master of North Star Lodge No. 8 in Lancaster.
He participated in Scottish Rite Masonry serving as president officer of the Lodge of Perfection and Rose Croix.
He was also an elected officer of the NH Consistory and was awarded the 33rd degree in Pittsburgh, PA in 1989.
He was also a member of the Easter Star and York Rite Masonry.
John enjoyed golf as a hobby in the North Country as well as in Ocala, FL at his winter home until 2008.
John researched, compiled and published a document of the descendants of John and Abigail Webster Nay over a period of several years.

Whitefield - John B. “Jack” Ross, Sr.
....show , 79, died December 27, 2012 at his home. He was born in Littleton, June 4, 1933, the son of Harold “Bill” and Isabel (Nute) Ross.
Mr. Ross worked most of his adult life for the New Hampshire Department of Transportation., beginning in 1951 as a member of a survey crew. He was called to military service in 1953.
After serving with the U.S. Army in Korea, he earned a degree in civil engineering at University of New Hampshire before returning to work with the D.O.T.
In 1968 he moved his family to Whitefield and assumed the duties of District Engineer, District One, with headquarters at Lancaster. He held that position until retirement in 1997.
He was a Master Mason, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion, The National Rifle Association and several conservative organizations. As a member and past commander of the American Legion, he and his wife operated the Whitfield Legion’s youth baseball program for many years.
He enjoyed his family, his friends, people, his dog Piper, his piece of “God’s green garden” and his John Deere tractor. He also took pleasure in driving folks as a volunteer for the Caleb Interfaith Caregivers.
He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Barbara (Richardson) Ross in 2006.
Mr. Ross is survived by his companion, Diane Barber of Bradford, VT; three sons Matthew S. Ross of Concord, Mark S. Ross of Mt. Juliet, TN., and John B. Ross, Jr. of Whitefield; a daughter Brenda J. Ross of Lancaster; a brother Ralph D. Ross of Littleton; four sisters, Nancy J. Stearns of Gilmanton, Mary Ann Foley of Gilford, and Terry Dee Atwood of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, a great grandson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre deceased by a sister Judith Bagley of Alton.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

LANCASTER – John C. "Jackie" Kenney
....show died unexpectedly on December 31, 2013 in Lancaster, NH at the age of 57. John was born on June 10, 1956 the son of Clifford Kenney and Rita (Bragg) Kenney of Twin Mountain.
John was raised in Twin Mountain and attended local schools. He worked in construction and also in the manufacturing field.
For many years John lived in Lincoln moving to Lancaster in 2012.
He leaves a sister Judy and her husband Dennis Hammond of Lancaster; a half brother Denis Skora and his wife Dru and family of Lancaster; nephews Clifford Whiting Jr. and his wife Tonya and family of North Concord, VT; John Allin II and his companion Jennifer Taylor and family of Berlin, VT; a niece Amy Landry and companion Craig Clemmer and family of Lancaster and many cousins.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in St. Margaret’s Cemetery, Twin Mountain, in the spring.

JEFFERSON – John H. Mason
....show , 67, died Sunday March 10, 2013 at his home on Jefferson Notch Road.
Mr. Mason was born in Lancaster on September 14, 1945, the son of Eugene B. and Ruth E. (Oldham) Mason.
He was raised throughout New Hampshire and graduated from Simonds High School in Warner. He served in the US Army Reserves where he worked as a cook. Most of his life he has worked in maintenance and was employed for at time with the State of NH. For many years he worked at the Cog Railway and in recent years at Santa’s Village in Jefferson. He also devoted his life to caring for his parents who he now joins with.
John loved to travel. He made three trips to Alaska and various other trips including Utah and Montana. For 15 different winters he drove to Florida. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and making wood ornaments.
A quote from John he asked to include in his obituary: “I hope and pray there will be peace on earth. That would be a gift from heaven from God. Amen”.
Family members include a brother Ronald Mason of Spokane, Washington; a sister Sandra Bent of Brookline, NH; and several nieces and nephews.
At John’s request there are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Hillside Cemetery, Jefferson.

TWIN MOUNTAIN, NH – John R. McGee Sr.
....show , 83, of Parker Road, died Thursday January 31, 2013 at Weeks Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. McGee was born in Twin Mountain on November 11, 1929 the son of John V. and Mary (Mullen) McGee.
John graduated from Twin Mountain High School and then served two years with the US Army. On December 1, 1956 he married Roberta Merrow and they had four children.
He was a carpenter by trade and worked for several contractors. For over 30 years he was employed as a carpenter at the Mount Washington Hotel and retired as the shop foreman.
At home he enjoyed sitting on the front porch whittling canes and weather sticks or spending time outdoors working in his yard. He liked to make people laugh and most of all loved spending time with his family.
John was a Communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Twin Mountain and was a member of the American Legion.
Family members include his wife of 56 years Roberta McGee of Twin Mountain; a son John R. McGee Jr. and Corena of Twin Mountain; three daughters, Anne McGee and Dennis Ranson of Barrington, NH, Karen Malette and Brian of Bow, Carla McGee and Michael Healey of Twin Mountain; five grandchildren, Laura, Violet, Kimberly, Reilley, Michael; two brothers, Herbert McGee and Thomas McGee both of Twin Mountain; six sisters, Irene Thompson of Goffstown, Phyllis Ricardi and Theresa Jellison both of Twin Mountain, Stella Lemieux of Gorham, ME, Pauline Boynton of Whitefield, Catherine Mountain of Barrington; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Janet Wessels.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Twin Mountain. Rev. Matthew Mason, Pastor will officiate. ....show , 73, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday June 11, 2013 in Lancaster. He was born on March 14, 1940 in Boston, MA the only son of Joseph and Bertha (McGary) Hoey.
Mr. Hoey worked for the paper mill in Groveton. He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his wife Margaret (Leahy) Hoey of Lancaster.

LANCASTER - Kevin Kopp
....show , 67, of Lancaster passed away July 7, 2013 after a 10 month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Whitefield, NH on May 22, 1946, the son of Alexander and Joan (Malone) Kopp.
Kevin was raised in Whitefield. He graduated from Whitefield High School and attended Champlain College. He served 8 years in the New Hampshire National Guard.
After school he began a 42 year career at North Country Ford in Lancaster, 18 as a dealer partner with his father, and 10 additional years partnered with his two sons. Twice as dealer principal he was the recipient of the President’s award, Ford’s most prestigious award recognizing outstanding customer sales and service satisfaction. Kevin was referred to by his employees as “The Captain”.
Kevin was a 40 year active member and past president of the Lancaster Rotary Club. He spent 27 years on the board of directors of the Siwooganock Bank, the last 6 as chairman. Kevin also served on the boards of New Hampshire Automobile Dealers Association and the Morrison Nursing Home. As a business man and board member, he was known for his honesty and common sense.
Kevin was an early member of the Lancaster Ambulance Corp, spent time as a hospice volunteer, and enjoyed washing the pots at St. Paul’s weekly soup night. He enjoyed being a steward of the land, by improving his wood lots and bush hogging his fields. He was a member of the American Tree Farm Program.
Kevin was well known for his lifelong love for collecting, restoring, showing, and touring of old Fords, taking pride in his craftsmanship and knowledge of his automobiles. He loved Model T’s, Model A’s, flathead Ford’s, all types of Ford trucks, and early style Ford hot rods. Highlights of his hobby include a long time membership with the Central NH Model T Club and a 1995 cross country trip of 8,300 miles with his wife Mary in a 1926 Model T roadster pick-up he had completely restored. Many of his closest friendships revolved around his old car hobby.
In 2008, Kevin retired to his hobby shop to begin building the hot rod of his dreams, a flathead powered, 1931 Model A pick-up. Due to his illness, the last phase of his project was completed with the help of many of his friends and fellow auto enthusiasts. His hot rod made its debut in Lancaster’s 4th of July parade driven by his sons while Kevin followed behind as the parade’s Grand Marshal.
Kevin was predeceased by his father, Alexander J. Kopp. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary Schurman Kopp, his mother Joan Kopp of Whitefield, his two sons, Michael and Keith, and daughters-in-law Sharon and Amy Kopp respectively, five grandchildren, Alexander, Laura, Annie, Matthew and Emily Kopp all of Lancaster, sister Kathleen Kopp of Whitfield,
sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Robert Maroon also of Whitefield, an aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

JEFFERSON – Lee E. “Skip” Eastman Jr.
....show , 53, of Turnpike Road, died at his home Sunday afternoon December 22, 2013 after he lost his courageous battle with brain cancer.
Mr. Eastman was born in Lancaster on February 5, 1960 the son of Lee E. Eastman Sr. and Constance (Whitcomb) Eastman.
Raised in Lancaster Skip was a graduate of White Mountain Regional High School and later attended the Thompson School at UNH.
He had a vast knowledge of the outdoors, construction and mechanics.
With this knowledge he worked most of his life as a self-employed builder.
He was also a caretaker and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His pride and joy was his hunting camp.
He built it himself and loved spending as much time as he could there.
Family members include his long time companion of 25 years Denise Desjardins of Jefferson; his daughter Lindsay Cote and her husband Jake of Lancaster; his mother Constance Eastman of Lancaster; his 2 year old grandson Braeden Cote; three sisters, Tawnya Finkel and her husband Ned, Tamra Eastman and her husband Scott Cramer, Trisha Eastman and her husband Ken Bolland; three nieces, Abby Finkel, Molly Finkel, Hanna Rivard and a nephew Joshua Rivard.
He was predeceased by his father Dr. Lee E. Eastman Sr. in 2008.

Lancaster - Leighton C. Pratt
....show , 90 died June 11, 2013 at The Morrison in Whitefield, NH. He was born in Hartford, CT on April 23, 1923, the son of Calvin and Jessie (White) Pratt. He was predeceased by his four brothers and four sisters. He spent his youth in Worcester Vt. and graduated from Montpelier VT High School. He was a World War II veteran serving in the US Coast Guard from 1942-1946.
Leighton received his Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from the University of Vermont in 1951 and his Master of Science in from the University of Rhode Island in 1953. While at URI he managed the college the fruit farm. He was the State Plant Pathologist for the Vermont Department of Agriculture from 1953 to 1962, then taught high school science in Cabot and Newport Vt. In 1969 he moved to Lancaster, NH to become the Coos County Agricultural Extension Agent. Following his retirement he served in the NH House of Representatives from 1991-2005 where he was an advocate for the agricultural industry and issues affecting the North Country. He received the Tom Corrigan Award for service to the Coos County Republican Party. He was recognized by the Farm Bureau for his service to the agricultural community. Gardening was one of his favorite hobbies and he developed one of the first "pick your own" blueberry and raspberry farms in the North Country which he managed up until two years ago.
He was a long time member of the Lancaster Rotary Club.. In 1986 he was the team leader for a six week Rotary Exchange to Brazil. He also was involved with the Rotary Youth Exchange programs. Other organizations he belonged to were the VFW, Lancaster Congregational Church, a 60 year member of the Washington Lodge, No. 3 F & AM Masonic Lodge, Farm Bureau, Weeks State Park Association. He and his wife Sally enjoyed traveling to many places; one of the most special was a trip to New Zealand. Dancing to”Big Band" music was one of his greatest pleasures.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Sally (Burgess) Pratt, sons Randall of Portsmouth, NH; Bruce and his wife Ashley and grandson Alex and granddaughter Tori of Bedford, NH. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. He coached his sons in Little League and assisted at their ski races. In later years he enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their various sports. The Red Sox and Celtics were his favorite sports teams.
Services: There will be a celebration of his life on June 28 at the Lancaster Congregational Church at 11:00 AM with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Morrison Staff Education Fund, 6 Terrace St., Whitefield, NH.
Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
WHITEFIELD – Leon J. “Butch” Eason
....show , 46, of Highland Street, died suddenly at his home on January 5, 2013.
Mr. Eason was born in Lancaster, NH on August 2, 1966 the son of Leon James and Dorothy Eva (Barrows) Eason.
Butch was a longtime resident of Easthampton, MA where he worked for a time as an auto body repairman in his youth and later was also a longtime driver for Starvos. In October of 2012 he moved to Whitefield.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and going for rides. He also enjoyed wearing and owning anything that was camouflaged. He was a longtime member of the Loyal Order of Moose of Easthampton.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening January 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 210 Main Street, Lancaster. Burial will be in the spring in the Brookside Cemetery, Easthampton, MA.
Twin Mountain - Leo P. Lavallee
....show , 96, passed away on Wednesday night August 7, 2013 at The Morrison in Whitefield. He was born on November 6, 1916 in Winooski,VT a son to the late Ernest and Amanda Lavallee.
Mr. Lavallee was raised in Rhode Island near Providence. From 1940-142 he was a champion speed skater winning many titles throughout New England. He served with the US Navy during WWII
Mr. Lavallee worked for Black and Decker as a plastic engineer. He moved to Twin Mountain after marrying Dorothy Dale on August 3, 1980. Mr. Lavallee was a former school board member for the White Mountain School District, for the years 1991-1994. He enjoyed skiing at Cannon Mountain and did so until he was 87 years old, and was also a former ski patroller in Maryland. Mr. Lavallee enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Profile Golf Club. Surviving family members are Anthony and Lynne Notari, Jill and Ed Knox, Paul and Marie Notari, Amy and Mark Crory, Molly and Dave Barnes, Charles Notari and James Notari.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday August 10 at 1 PM in the Straw Cemetery in Twin Mountain with the Reverend Matthew Mason officiating.
A memorial service will be held in September, details to be announced at a later time.

GUILDHALL, VT – Leslie B. Menzies
....show , 100, passed away peacefully December 22, 2013 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen surrounded by his family.
Les was born in Manchester, NH on October 19, 1913 to William B. Menzies and Zella M. (Adams) Menzies.
He received his education in the public schools of Manchester, Boise, Idaho, Goffstown, NH, and Concord, NH graduating from Concord High School in 1932.
There he was a member of the Track & Field Teams and a member of the State Champion Cross Country teams in 1930 and 1931.
While still in high school he joined the NH National Guard and served in the 197th Coast Artillery Headquarters Battery.
This unit saw service in the Amoskeag Mill riots in Manchester.
He is best remembered for his boxing ability in the 1930’s as undefeated Golden Glove and Diamond Belt Champion in the Light-Heavyweight Division.
He joined the Concord, NH Police Department in April 1936 and in 1937 became the first Trooper to enlist in the newly created Department of State Police.
He had a long and distinguished career of over 34 years with the State Police, retiring in 1972 with the rank of Lieutenant.
In 1940 he became New Hampshire’s first recipient of the Medal of Valor as a result of a shoot-out with a holdup murderer in Swanzey.
In 1941 he was awarded the first Valor-Honor Bar by the New England Police Revolver League.
Around 1950, with the Departments Backing, he set up a police training school in Henniker which was heavily attended by town and city police officers from central and southern NH.
At various times he also served as Troop Commander of Troops C in Keene and Troop F in Twin Mountain.
Promoted to Lieutenant in 1962 he was assigned to duty of setting up patrols on the newly created Interstate Highway System.
He served as Firearms Instructor for 22 years and was the Riot & Crowd Control Instructor and saw action in the riots of Hampton Beach and Weirs Beach in the 1960’s.
He was also Captain of the State Police Pistol Team.
After his retirement from the State Police he became Chief of Security for the NH State Legislature, retiring in 1983.
He then moved from Hopkinton to Guildhall, Vermont in 1985, where he resided 37 years.
He was a member of Harmony Lodge #38 F & AM of Hillsboro.
He had been a member of the National rifle Association since 1938.
Les was an avid hunter, fisherman and target shooter.
He loved sailing and built many of his own sailboats.
He and his wife Alice were members of the Winnipesaukee Yacht club for 30 years.
He also was an avid motorcyclist, beginning in the late 1920’s with a 1928 Harley-Davidson, and continued to ride into his 70’s.
He was predeceased by his wife Alice of 59 years in 2007.
He is survived by a sister Alice Beardsley of Aurora, Colorado; a daughter, Shirley Stemska of Goffstown, NH; a son Douglas Menzies and his wife Rose of Groveton; a daughter Patricia Guay and her husband Stephen of Hopkinton; 8 grandchildren, Jay, Robert, Heather, Jennifer, Abigail, Aaron, Eric and Autumn and 10 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Saturday December 28 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 210 Main Street, Lancaster, NH. Burial will take place in the Spring at the Ridgwell Cemetery in Guildhall, VT.

WHITEFIELD – Lillian G. Ramsdell

Mrs. Ramsdell was born in Guildhall on November 28, 1919 the daughter of Clement and Abbie (Lewis) Lamotte.
Raised in Guildhall Lillian later moved to Whitefield to pursue work as a housekeeper and a cook and for a time was employed for a doctor in Boston.
In 1942 she married her late husband Lovell H. “Bud” Ramsdell and moved to Lancaster.
She continued housekeeping and chamber maid work and was employed for a time at Lancaster Shoe Shop.
She was a strong independent New Englander who loved her two boys.
The staff at The Morrison had a close bond with Lillian and brought her much happiness.
Surviving family members include her two sons Daniel L. Ramsdell of Lyndonville, James R. Ramsdell and his wife Judy of Dalton; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday evening October 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster.
A funeral service will be held Monday morning at 11:00 at the funeral home.

GROVETON – Linda Gail Simonds
....show , 76, died May 13, 2013 at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester after a period of declining health. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Simonds was born in Lancaster on April 14, 1937 the daughter of Clarence E. and Gladys L. (Rich) Nourse.
Gail was raised in Lancaster where she attended local schools. In 1953 she married Arthur A. Simonds and they worked in partnership operating a dairy farm in Maidstone for 25 years. Retiring from farming in 1978 she then worked at Lancaster Hardware as a manager until 1992. Later in life she completed her schooling and acquired her GED.
Together Gail and Arthur enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, long rides, and country music. Her greatest enjoyment was the time she cherished with her family. Gail was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
For 50 years she was a member of the Lancaster Olive Branch Chapter #1 Order of the Eastern Star and past member and secretary of the Essex County Farm Bureau. She was also a founding member and past president of the Groveton High School Booster Club.
Surviving family members include her devoted husband of 60 years Arthur of Groveton; four children, Linda Simonds of Howard, Colorado, Arthur “Butch” Simonds and wife Brenda of Jarreau, Louisiana, Edward Simonds of Barre, VT, Lisa Grimes and husband Tom of Groveton; seven grandchildren, Courtney, Cade, Brent, Krista, Josh, Jake, Elizabeth; seven great-grandchildren, Kyle, Jace, Aidana, Ethan, Cloe, Adrian, Braylee; and two very special nephews and a very special niece. She was predeceased by her parents and a granddaughter Tegan Elane Simonds.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday afternoon May 15, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. An Eastern Star service will be held at 6:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at a later date.

....show , passed away on Monday January 14, 2013 in the comfort of her home with her family by her side. She was born on May 13, 1937 in East Stratford, NH to Ruth Christie Bordeau and Maxie Bordeau.
Sally was a graduate of Stratford High School and Mansfield Beauty Academy, Boston, MA. She worked as a hairdresser for 55 years. She had her beauty shop in her home so that she could “be there” for her children as they grew up.
Sally was a loving wife, mother, nana, great-nana, sister, aunt and friend.
She was pre deceased by sisters Claire Curtis Bartlett and Judith Bordeau.
Sally is survived by her husband of 54 years Ronald LaCasse; daughter Deborah LaCasse Locke and her husband Dana of Loudon, NH; daughter Lynn LaCasse of Loudon, NH, grandchildren Alicia Locke Brooks, Allison Guy Zanis, Dustin Ronald Locke, Marisa Guy, Denis Guy II, great grandchildren Natalie M. Brooks and Ava-Lynn Zanis. Mrs. Covey was born in Keene, NH on March 10, 1950 the daughter of Charles and Bessie (Reed) Garfield.
She was raised throughout Vermont but has been a 45 year resident of Gilman.
Shelia enjoyed camping, arts & crafts and being a homemaker.
She was a volunteer at the Gilman Senior Center.
Surviving family members include her husband John R. Mrs. Savage was born in Brighton, VT, on September 8, 1936, the daughter of Oler Cyrus and Gladys Elva (McKenney) Scott.
Shirley has resided most of her life in Groveton with the exception of several years in West Stewartstown. During her life she always worked as a cook and was employed in the kitchens of many local schools and restaurants and at one time Weeks Medical Center. Recently she has volunteered her time at the Groveton Thrift Shop.
She enjoyed sewing, crafts and of course cooking. A well know specialty where her donuts that were enjoyed by many.
Family members include a son Keith H. Savage and his wife Debbie of Groveton; three grandchildren, Sarah, Amber, and Troy; a great-grandchild Riley; a brother Clifton Scott of West Stewartstown; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harold L. Savage; a son Stephen J. Savage; two infant daughters, Mary and Jodi Lynn; and a sister Betty Hubbard.

Mr. Correia was born in New Bedford, MA on August 10, 1933 the son of Manuel and Elmira Correia.
Manny has worked most of his lifetime as an auto body repairman and has lived and worked in Massachusetts, Texas and Florida.
Approximately 10 years ago he moved to Lunenburg. He loved to barter and wheel & deal. Manny also enjoyed tinkering.

GUILDHALL - Marion Elsie Hodge Klinefelter
....show , 88, died at her home March 6, 2013 as was her wish. Born March 29, 1924 in Guildhall, Marion was the daughter of John and Winifred (Daniels) Hodge.
She graduated from Groveton New Hampshire High School and received her RN from Mary Fletcher Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She practiced both bedside and office nursing in a variety of settings as she accompanied her husband, John O. on tours of naval duties on both coasts of the United States and Guam. She was predeceased by her bellowed husband in 2008 after a marriage of 48 years.
Marion enjoyed being an active member of her small community serving on the school board and the committee for renovating the Guild Hall, participated in Guildhall Old Home Days with both floats and programs, member of the Upstreamers and Happy Healthy Hand Helpers 4-H clubs, supported the Benton Library, and was a member of the Willena Benton Chapter #96 EOS and the Guildhall Community Church.
She had a lively spirit and love dancing with her husband, enjoyed cooking, gardening, crafts, local and family genealogy, and sewing clothing for her extended family especially her grand-nephews, Walter and Edward Polkey, who lived with her during their high school years. She lived her summers in Fredericksburg, VA and winters in Davenport, FL. Her neighbors in VA became cherished lifelong friends. Marion is survived by her ten nieces and ten nephews, and many grand and great grand nieces and nephews as well as her cherished Yorkshire terrier Jocko and Johnny’s cat Big Rust.
Calling hours will be held Friday evening, February 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Saturday March 9 at 11 AM at the Guildhall Community Church. Rev. Gerry Piper will officiate. Family and friends are invited to a gathering at the Guild Hall immediately following the service. Burial will be in the spring in Ridgwell Cemetery, Guildhall.

DALTON – Marjorie B. Couturier
....show , 85, of Dalton Road, died Saturday afternoon November 16, 2013 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Couturier was born in Whitefield, NH on July 21, 1928, the daughter of Herbert and Claribel (Curtis) Blakslee.
"Margie", also known as "Bridget" to many, was a lifelong resident of Dalton, NH. She attended schools in Dalton and was a graduate of Littleton High School. She was the grand marshall of the graduating class in 1945. For one year she attended Burdett College in Boston MA, studying accounting. She was a longtime employee of Whitefield Savings Bank serving in many capacities throughout her career, including head teller and loan officer. At one time she was employed at the Gilman Mill and at the Spalding Inn.
Margie served her community in many ways, including Dalton Town Treasurer, school board member of White Mountain Regional High School, and a volunteer for The Caleb Group. She was the house-to-house census taker for Dalton in 1960 and 1970.
She held memberships to the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Dalton Ladies Aid Society, held a 50-year membership with the Riverside Grange, and was an active and devoted member of the Dalton Congregational Church where she served as church auditor, handled floral arrangements and sang in the choir.
Music was her passion. She played the piano and later the organ and her beautiful voice was heard by many at home, at church, at weddings and for a time with the North Country Chorus. She loved to read, knit, do crossword puzzles, play cards, tend her flowerbeds and travel. She enjoyed her trips with her brothers, sisters and friends all over the United States, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and the tropics.
Nothing however, compared to the love she had for her family and the special times she spent with them at her home, at Ida's camp on Forest Lake, and on the mountain.
She was blessed to be able to spend her last months at home under the loving care of her granddaughter Allison, Allison’s partner Chuck Correll and great-granddaughter Gabrielle Couturier.
She is survived by her son Bruce Couturier and wife Vickie of Gilman, VT and Etowah, TN; two daughters, Ann Fitz and husband Gary of Litchfield, NH, Debbie Timson and husband Danny of Lunenburg, VT; 5 grandchildren Allison Couturier, Karen Bolduc, Patrick Couturier, Eric Fitz, Greg Fitz; 6 1/2 great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Margarette, Rachel, Seth, Noah, Isaac; brothers Ralph Blakslee of Danville, VT, John Blakslee of Concord, VT, Robert Blakslee of Punta Gorda, FL; sisters Eva Lavoie of Littleton; Ida Blakslee of Dalton, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur H. Couturier; a sister Berta Holden and a brother Charles Blakslee.

....show , 79, passed away peacefully in the arms of his daughter with his granddaughter Tanisha by his side; on July 1, 2013 at Littleton Regional Hospital. He was on in Bethlehem on April 17, 1934 a son to the late Forrest and Leola (Virge) Huntoon.
Mr. Huntoon was raised in Bethlehem until he was six years old moving to Whitefield where he has resided ever since. He worked for the Mountain View Golf Course, Nuroco Woodworking and the Whitefield Landfill until his retirement. He was a member of the Whitefield Advent Christian Church.
Mr. Huntoon was pre deceased by his parents, his wife Sally (Rosebrook) Huntoon, two brothers Lyle and Leonard Huntoon. He is survived by his daughter Judy Russell of Whitefield a son Donald Huntoon of Morgan, VT a grandson Mark Huntoon, two granddaughters Tanisha Russell and Andrea Huntoon.

Norma was born in Lancaster on March 29, 1948, oldest daughter of Robert and Hazel (Gonyer) Baker.
She was raised in Lancaster, graduated from Lancaster Academy. For a time she worked at the Lancaster Diner. In 1984 she married Wilbur Singer. they moved to Florida in 1989 where they made their home. Norma worked as a concierge for a Hotel in Fort Lauderdale for many years.
Family members include, her son Mark Baker, her beloved step daughter, Marie Singer Miles of Fort Lauderdale, FL, three brothers, Wayne "Butch" Baker of Lancaster, NH, Craig Baker of Lancaster, NH and Kevin Baker of Manchester, NH, one sister Lynn Baker of Manchester, NH and a half sister Nancy Baker, many nieces and nephews.
Norma was predeceased by her parents, her husband Wilbur Singer in 2004, and a sister Roberta L. Malanson in 2011.

Mrs. Blakley was born in Anglewood, NJ on July 10, 1930 the daughter of Milton and Gertrude (Sawyer) Driggs.
Patricia resided most of her life in New Jersey and summered in Lancaster for years.
She moved here permanently in 1990.
Pat lover her apartment at the McKee.
She always had her door open and enjoyed all visitors.
She also had an open heart, she was generous beyond belief, she had a loving spirit and made friends easily.
Her sweet kind nature seemed to capture everyone’s hearts.
She was an incredible listener.
Pat was a dedicated Patriots and Red Sox fan, she thoroughly enjoyed this championship season.
She loved animals, cats, dogs and horses.
She had a variety of employment such as modeling, cashier at K-Mart, and her favorite, the concession stand at Giants Stadium.
She loved to travel and was always up for an adventure.
One of her favorite hobbies was flying remote control airplanes. Pat had a collection of angels and also had the traits of being one herself. Now the time has come that she has earned her wings to become one of her own collection.
Pat’s favorite quote was “You only live once, but if you do it right once is enough”.
She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving family is her son Kevin Blakley of Moonachie, NJ.
Pat had numerous friends some of which were nurses and homemakers that helped her remain in her home.
Special friends were Dr. Pancras van der Laan, Harriet Beattie, Lois Cardin, Laura Arpin, and Allan, Karen, Katelyn and Nicholas Ryder.
Her first husband William Blakely predeceased her.
At Patricia’s request there are no visiting hours or services.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
Family and friends are invited to gather at 11:30 AM Saturday November 16 at the Summer Street Cemetery then everyone is invited to a celebration of Pat’s life at 12:00 noon at the McKee Inn, Lancaster.
Lunch will be provided.

East Concord, VT - Phyllis Esther (Woodbury) Briggs
....show a resident of East Concord, VT passed away at age 93 March 18, 2013 at The Manor in Morrisville, VT. An injury sustained in November 2012 requiring surgery led to declining health. For nearly a year Phyllis happily resided at Forest Hill Residential Care Homer in Hyde Park, VT.
Phyllis was born on September 17, 1919. She attended Vermont schools in St. Johnsbury, East Concord and Concord High School. Phyllis’ employment included: Factory work in Gilman, VT and Littleton, NH, Retail sales in Lancaster, NH and St. Johnsbury, VT, Avon representative, served as Postmaster in East Concord, VT and often worked at the Lower Waterford and East Barnet, VT Post Offices.
She had membership in the East Concord United Methodist Church and its associated UMW group. She belonged to the VT Order of Eastern Star Adar Chapter # 39 occupying all chairs at one time or another. As member of Concord Historical Society she often served as host at the Museum’s annual Open House. For many years she was active in the Essex County Extension Service assisting with 4-H and Home Demonstration programs. While her children were in school she was active locally and statewide with PTA and often assisted with area school health clinics. Phyllis enjoyed working on and organizing church dinners plus assisting with various fund raising events. Phyllis would often play her piano. Growing African violets provided much pleasure for her.
Phyllis was predeceased by: parents Howard O. and Mabel (Fisher) Woodbury, husband of 71 years Leslie C. Briggs (Leslie died on 1-5-2009), sisters Beverly, Norma and husband Claude Briggs, brother Howard and wife Emma Woodbury, Sister in Law Bette Roach, Brother in Law George Grant, and nephew John Woodbury.
Phyllis married Leslie C. Briggs on September 26, 1937. She is survived by a daughter Janice Boulais of Plaistow, NH son Lindsey of Littleton, NH and Irvine, CA and son Gary and wife Linda of Morrisville, VT, Brother in Law Raymond Road of Pooler, GA, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great great grand child plus several nieces, nephews and some very special friends.
The Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster, NH will at a later spring date provide information regarding a graveside service to be held at the Riverside Cemetery in South Lunenburg, VT. A social gathering is planned for that date as well. ....show , 82 of Lancaster, NH went home to be with her Lord, January 7, 2014, at Morrison Nursing Home.
Born April 14, 1931 in Schenectady NY., the daughter of Gordon and Arlene Minehardt. She was raised by her grandparents Harry and Ethel Kilmer. After High School she trained at Ellis Hospital Training School where received her RN. She continued her education at Columbia University receiving a BS degree.
She joined the Air Force Reserve as an RN and was discharged with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
During WW II the family changed the spelling of their surname to appear less Jewish. So Joyce grew up in a neighborhood of Jewish people but did not know she was Jewish until years when later her father told her.
She was introduced to the Jewish Jesus by a friend that sent her on a journey to find out her Jewishness through Him. She attended Pine Crest Bible Training Center and Berean School of the Bible where received certificates in Ministry and was ordained as a Jewish Rabbi in 1990 at Gospel Crusade Ministerial Fellowship in Bradenton FL.
Her love for her Lord and His Word became the focus of her life. Her desire was to share the Word with as many people as possible and teaching them their Hebraic Roots of Christianity. Though she was never married she had a large spiritual family and many spiritual children.
She is survived by a brother Allen, a nephew and niece. Her close friend and co-worker in the Lord, Muriel Trefry and her little companion, a dog named Samantha. She was predeceased by a sister, Patricia, both parents and grandparents.

Mila Rizzo was born on June 13, 1948 in the Czech Republic to Mr. and Mrs. Josef Vojta. She attended Charles University in Prague where she earned a degree in Natural Sciences. After she graduated, Mila immigrated to the United States where she lived between Chicago Illinois and Beverly Hills, California, and, eventually, settled down in Lancaster, New Hampshire.
During her time in Chicago and Beverly Hills, Mila worked in the travel industry, in which her occupations evolved from flight attendant to manager of a Czech Airline branch to a business partner of an airline agency.
While her first career path was Travel, since childhood, Mila’s heart had always been with the animals.One of her first brushes with animal activism occurred when Mila was eight years old and living in Tabor in the Czech Republic. Upon witnessing an owner beating his horse, young Mila stepped infront of the grown man and started kicking and screaming to come between horse and abusive owner.This early incident reflects, and would become one of many examples of, her fierce spirit and commitment to the humane treatment of all creatures. When she lived in Chicago, Mila was highly engaged with The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and Shedd Aquarium.
After she relocated to Lancaster, NH, along with her husband and son, in 1980, between 1984 and 1985, Mila opened up a local health food store, “Nature’s Basics,” as well as the LancasterHumane Society.
Lancaster Humane Society is one of the first no-kill shelters in the country.
Mila was also a licensed wildlife rehabilitator for the New Hampshire Fish & Game Department.
Along with her love of animals, Mila’s passions included, hiking, gardening, cooking, swimming and spending quality time with her son, Peter, and Jack Russell Terrier, Tessa. Through and through, Mila held a deep reverence for all life and touched the lives and hearts of everyone with whom she connected.
Mila is survived by her son, Peter Rizzo, 34, her sisterSvetlaBalysova, her nieces, PavlaVernerova ,Kristyna El-Hassanova, and VeronikaVerner, as well as her nephew, Jiri Verner.

WHITEFIELD – Ray C. Willey Jr.
....show , 82, of Jefferson Road, died suddenly Tuesday evening October 15, 2013 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mr. Willey was born to Ray and Iva (Hood) Willey on October 5, 1931 in Jefferson.
He attended schools in Jefferson.
After school he lived with Mr. and Mrs. Mike Murphy to help on their farm.
From there he joined the US Army in 1949 and was honorably discharged in 1953.
He then started working in the woods and later moved on to Gilman Paper Company.
He was a house painter when not working at the mill.
In 1963 he married Janet “Jan” Lyon.
To this marriage she brought five children and they had three sons of their own.
He was a good father to all the children and a good husband to his wife and worked hard to care and provide for the family.
His gardens were his pride and joy and he was quite generous with what was produced.
Ray loved company and was a great story teller.
He also enjoyed hunting and loved his animals including his pigs, cows, chickens, ducks, geese and sheep.
Ray was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
Surviving family members include his wife 50 years of Janet E. (Bailey) Willey of Whitefield and their six children, Doug Lyon & Diane of Dalton, Ray “Bud” Willey and Tia of Jefferson, William “Joe” Willey and Tonia of Dalton, Jane Schmucker of Colorado, Melanie Whitney of Lancaster, and Lisa Wheeler;16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother Robert Willey and Gillian of Whitefield; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; 2 sons, John Lyon, Robby Willey; and 9 siblings, Fred Willey, Edward Willey, William Willey, Clarence “Spike” Willey, Pearl Clement, Margaret McLain, Dorothy Samson, Pricilla Hale, and Beverly Kenison.
There are no visiting hours.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday morning, October 19, at 11:00 AM in the Forest Vale Cemetery, Jefferson.
Life Cycle Celebrant Wendy K. Macdonald will officiate.

Whitefield - Rene Joseph Girouard
....show , 85, passed away on Tuesday February 12, 2013 in comfort of his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Coaticook, PQ Canada on February 10, 1928 a son to the late Amedde and Anna (Bouly) Girouard.
Mr. Girouard was a carpenter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, playing horseshoes and working with his hands.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne Y. (Sigouin) Girouard, four sons; Roger of Jefferson, NH, Paul of Brookline, NH, Robert of Antrim, NH Norman of Amherst, NH, a daughter Theresa Girouard of Jefferson, two sisters, Cecile McLure of Canada, Marie Jeanne Marion of Canada, a brother Arsene Girouard of Ontario, 10 Grandchildren, 6 Great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday February 15 at Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster from 6-8 PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday February 16 at 11 Am at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Whitefield with Reverend Matthew Mason officiating. Whitefield - Reverend John Chase Gregory
....show , 87, passed away on Monday July 22, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on April 17, 1926 in Johnsonburgh, PA a son to the late J. Howell and Esther Anne (Wessman) Gregory.
Reverend Gregory grew up in Wheaton, Ill. He attended the University of Illinois graduating with a Bachelors of Science degree, University of Cincinnati with a Masters in Chemistry and the Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge, MA. Reverend Gregory worked for Andrew Jergen’s Co. developing new cosmetics. He also worked at the WMRHS as a chemistry teacher, Littleton Regional High School as a math and chemistry teacher; he was also an Analytical Chemist and eventually an Executive Vice President for the PJ Noyes Company. Reverend Gregory was the pastor of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and St. Mark’s Parish from 1959 till 1969, a long time Chaplin at Weeks memorial Hospital, as well as having a ministry in many NH and VT neighboring towns. Reverend Gregory is also a veteran of the United States Army Air Force.
Reverend Gregory enjoyed studying the bible in many languages, music, chemistry and math. As well as learning Hebrew and many other languages. He also enjoyed flying and was the Chaplin for the Civil Air Patrol.
He was predeceased by his first wife Pat (MacDonald) Gregory, two brothers William and George Gregory and a son Craig Hersom. He is survived by his wife Clara (Ball) Gregory of Whitefield, three sons Rev. John Gregory-Davis of Meriden, NH, James Gregory of East Burke, VT, Nathan Hersom of Sanbornton, NH; three daughters Rebecca Bernard of Groveton, NH, Kathi Mitchell of Woodsville, NH, Jennifer Chauvette of Groveton, NH, 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a niece and nephew.
A visiting hour will be held on Monday July 29 from 1 PM to 2 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A funeral will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lancaster at 2:30 PM following the visiting hour with the Father David Taylor officiating.

Jefferson - Richard M. Wheeler
....show , 81, of Jefferson died suddenly on Wednesday, August 21, 2013.
He was born in New London, Connecticut on September 29, 1931 to Martin and Rena Wheeler and in his teens the family moved to Alton, New Hampshire. After graduating high school he joined the U.S. Navy serving with the Marines as a navy corpsman during the Korean War. On his return he attended and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor’s degree in soils and subsequently worked for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service in New Hampshire and Montana. He then returned to the University of New Hampshire receiving a master’s degree in chemistry and for many years taught chemistry in high schools in New York and New Hampshire before his retirement from White Mountain Regional High School in Whitefield.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of more than 40 years, Charlene, his children, his son Jason Wheeler and his wife Laura of Marysville, WA; his son Mark Wheeler and wife Virginia of Tallahassee, FL; his daughter Ruth Walters and Husband Greg of Hays, KS; his grandchildren Aislinn Walters, Bailey Wheeler, and Brian Wheeler, and a brother John Wheeler if Alton, NH.
Arrangements are under the care of Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A private service for immediate family will be held at their convenience. Rita A. (Powell) Bell
....show , 89, of Luneburg, Vt., passed away on September 6, 2013, at the Saint Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center in Saint Johnsbury, Vt.
Rita was born July 28, 1924. Her parents, John, T. and Sadie (Hagan) Powell, as well as her sister Catherine McLaughlin, and her brothers William and James Powell, all have predeceased her.
She lived most of his life as a resident of Lunenburg, Vt. During World War II she was employed at the Gilman Mill. She married Vincent Bell on December 23, 1945 at Saint Leo’s Catholic Church in Lunenburg, where they were both Communicants. They were married 63 years before Vincent passed in 2009.
Rita leaves behind five children and their spouses: Daniel Bell and Mary (Quimby) of Wheelock, Vt., Diane and Bruce Thomas of Lunenburg; Anna and Carl Lavallee of Monkton, Vt.; Mary Lou and Gary Ingalls of Lunenburg; and Amos Bell also of Lunenburg. She has 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed camping, boating, visiting with her family, and for a few years, “snow birding” in Florida with friends.
A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held September 14th at 11 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lunenburg. The graveside committal service will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster, N.H. After the committal service a luncheon will be offered at the Gate of Heaven Parish Hall in Lancaster, N.H. There will be no calling hours.

Rita (Falkenham) Blakslee

th after a short period of declining health. She was born in Gilman, VT to Josephine (Denonville) and Oriel R. Falkenham, but lived most of her 87 years in Dalton NH.
In June of 1948, she graduated from Plymouth Teachers College and married her husband of 58 years, Charles H. Blakslee, who predeceased her in 2006. Together they rescued the house on the Blakslee homestead and welcomed family and friends to their home to stay or to gather. And they did! The home on the mountain was where lives have been shared and memories have been made for five generations.
Rita (Mrs. Blakslee to many) taught business education at Littleton High School, Whitefield High School, White Mts. Regional High School, and Groveton High School. As teacher, as chairperson, as curriculum developer, as the teacher who embraced technology, she sent many high school graduates on to employment and careers in associated fields. Right through the last days of her life, she enjoyed hearing, “You were my teacher.” “Because of you, I have a career/employment.” “You made a difference in my world.”
In her lifetime she was an active member of the Dalton community. She was a member of the Dalton school board, Superintendant of the Sunday school and faithful member of the Dalton Congregational Church, a member of the Ladies Aid Society, a member of the Dalton Grange, auditor for the town of Dalton, a board member of Weeks Memorial Hospital, champion for the building of the Dalton Elementary School and White Mts. Regional High School, a gatherer of her childhood/high school friends, a gatherer and supporter of her class and alumni association of Plymouth State College, Class of 1948 , and for over 40 years, a sister to so many wonderful women in her Delta Kappa Gamma sorority.
She was mother to Charlotte (and Jack) Nelson of Manchester, NH, Allen (and Evie) Blakslee of Dalton, and Peter (and Dianne) Blakslee of Littleton, NH. She was “Grammie” to all of their 5 children. “Great Grammie” to 4 ½. She was “sister” to Dr.Elwin (and Mary Jane) Falkenham of Lancaster, NH and Glen (and Joy) Falkenham of Salem and Jefferson, NH., and loved as a sister by her husband’s family : Ralph Blakslee of VT , Margie Couturier of Dalton, Eva Lavoie of Littleton, NH, Bob Blakslee of Punta Gorda, FL, John Blakslee of Concord, VT , Ida Blakslee of NH and FL, Sylvia Blakslee of the NH Lakes Region, and David Holden of Jaffrey, NH. She was “Aunt Rita” to her many nieces and nephews and cousins, too. And so, too, their children. For many, she made her home their home. For several decades she hostessed the annual Blakslee Christmas Eve gathering. And pancake and Blakslee syrup suppers on Sunday night!
On Oct. 26th we will gather in Dalton to celebrate her life. A private service will be held at 11:00 at Dalton Congregational Church for family, class members of Dalton High School class of 1944 and guest, class members of Plymouth Teachers College 1948 and guest, sisters of Delta Kappa Gamma, her church family, and others by request or invitation. (To those who wish to be with her in her little white church feel free to request @ 603-837-9071) (The Dalton Town Hall by the church will be open.) Following services at the church, we will gather at the Johns River Cemetery.
In lieu of calling hours and following services, family, friends, students, church family, and the community is invited to the Dalton Municipal Center (the Dalton Elementary School) beginning at 1:00 PM for a luncheon and a celebration of her life.

JEFFERSON – Robert A. Robinson Jr.

Mr. Robinson was born in Lancaster, NH on September 20, 1968 the son of Robert Robinson Sr. and Ellen (Stone) Robinson.
Bob was raised in Whitefield and for a time he worked as a carpenter.
He enjoyed NASCAR racing, the Red Sox, hunting and fishing.
Family members include his mother Ellen Robinson of Littleton and Florida; his long time partner Tammy Dupont of Jefferson; a sister Pam Robinson and her significant other Dave Currier of Littleton; and two nephews Chad Robinson and his wife Mary Beth and Dave Currier.
He was predeceased by his father Robert A. Robinson Sr., his paternal grandparents James and Madeline Chase Eaton; and his maternal grandparents Ted and Mary Ann Portigue Ramsdell.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Friday evening December 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster.
Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Arlington, VA - Robert (Bob) Dee Milligan
....show (KI4MB) passed away on 22 May 2013 in Arlington, VA He was born 27 February 1935 in Loogootee, IN to Richard C. and Vangie (Lyon) who predeceased him. He attended school in Loogootee, before joining the Army in 1950. He earned the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star while in Korea and spent time in Germany, as well as being stationed state side. After leaving the Army he worked as a Taxi Cab driver in Arlington before entering the government service with the Federal Aviation Administration as a teletype repairman. He worked his way up to become an electronic technician and retired in 2000. In retirement he enjoyed his Amateur Radio hobby, as well as spending time on the farm in Loogootee, IN.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Mary (Maillet) three sons, Robert Neil of Catlett, VA; Leonard of Arlington, VA; Michael of Richmond, VA and a daughter, Frances (Scott) Meeker of Manassas, VA. He also leaves five sisters, Vera (James) Casper, Anna Dye, Virginia (Marvin) Arvin, Mary Miller, Ruth (Paul) Van Hoy and two brothers John and Keith (Nene). One brother, Foster, pre deceased him.
Burial was in the Northumberland Cemetery in Northumberland, NH. Honorary Pall Bearers were his sons, Robert, Leonard and Michael and daughter Frances.

Ruth Elva Foss
....show , 83, passed away on February 13, 2013, at Weeks Memorial Hospital in Lancaster, NH. She was born on November 26, 1929, in Burke, VT to Alton and Christie (Walter) Lee.
Ruth grew up in Whitefield, NH, and attended Lancaster High School. She worked for B.D. Weeks Hospital for many years as a nurse’s aide on the Skilled Nursing Floor.
Ruth married Eugene H. Foss, Sr. of Lancaster NH in 1948. They were happily married for 43 years. Ruth was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, NH. She filled her retirement years with ministering to family and friends and strangers through her gift of hospitality. She enjoyed many happy hours volunteering at Shiloh Retreat Center, Jefferson, NH. Her greatest joy however was her children , grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Alton and Christie Lee, her sisters Sandra Gooden and Rita Gray, her brothers Reginald, Clyde, and Robert Lee, and by her daughter Diana (Foss) Hicks.
A funeral service will be held at the Jefferson Town Hall, Route 2, Jefferson, NH, on Sunday, February 17th, at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will be held at the Jefferson Town Hall, Route 2, Jefferson, NH, on Saturday, February 16th. The family will be greeting friends and relatives from 5-7:00 p.m.
Light refreshments will be provided by the members of Faith Presbyterian Church following the funeral service on Sunday, February 17th, at the Jefferson Town Hall. The family encourages you to stay and celebrate the life of Ruth Foss, a woman after God’s own heart.

Gilman, VT - Ruth “Bucky” McMann
....show , passed away on her 98th birthday February 8, 2013 at the Pines Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Lyndonville, VT. She was born in Lancaster on February 8, 1915 one of five children to the late Edward and Jessie (Tuttle) McMann.
At the age of 15 months the family moved to Gilman where her father went to work as an engineer for the Gilman Paper Company. Ruth graduated from Lancaster Academy in 1932 going to work for the Paper Mill as a Private Secretary where she worked for 52 years. She was a member of the Gilman Methodist Church and the Senior Center.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents and sisters; Evelyn, Dotty, Bunny and Ellie. She is survived by a niece Patty Greene of Co, a nephew Frank Pires of FL, a great nephew Rick Bartlett, grand niece Tristen Bartlett and her son Karson Jacob Theroux, cousins, Irene Lynde of Littleton, Kay Brown of Hartford, CT and Frank Pitman of Rome, GA.
At Ruth’s request there will be no visiting hours or funeral. Burial will take place in the spring at Glenwood Cemetery in Littleton.

Ruth S. Couture
....show , 91, wife of the late Albert A. Couture died on Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at the Meriden Center after a brief illness. Ruth was born in Island Pond, VT on Aug. 24, 1922, the daughter of the late Walter and Hazel Pelow Sequin.
She had resided in Meriden since 1962. Ruth was employed by Spartan Tool Manufacturing from 1969 through 1987. She was a member of Family Living Worship Center in Meriden. Ruth enjoyed her grandchildren, doing puzzles and reading.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Alberta Roy of Meriden, Suzanne LeHerissien and her husband Paul Larouche of Meriden, and Laurie Collins of Meriden; two sons, Donald Couture of Suffield and Dennis Couture of Terryville; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one sister, Francesca “Anna” Jodrey of Gorham, NH. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Greiser; two sisters; and two brothers.
A funeral was held on Dec. 16 in Meriden, CT. Locally a visiting hour will be held Saturday May 10th at 10:00 at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A graveside committal service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster.
