Gerald Bert Powers
....show , 98, of Easthampton, Massachusetts, died peacefully on May 15, 2013, after a short illness.
He was born on November 14, 1914, in Derby, to A. Thomas and Minnie Mae (Shannon) Powers. He married the love of his life, Lucile Gardner, on July 12, 1938. They enjoyed nearly 70 years of marriage before her death in March of 2008.
His lifelong fascination with vehicles began on the familys dairy farm, and he was hooked with the purchase of his first car, a 1928 Model T Ford, for $32. He found his calling driving trucks, first working for George Demers out of Newport and then for St. Johnsbury Trucking. He was the third person in Vermont to sign in for the Teamsters, and was a devoted union man for the rest of his life.
Mr. Powers served as a Private First Class in the U.S Army, Third Infantry Division, during World War II, driving as a messenger throughout central Europe.
Mr. and Mrs. Powers retired to Melbourne, Florida, in 1974, where he competed in shuffleboard tournaments and added to his collection of antique woodworking tools.
He is survived by four sons: Dean, and Charlotte, of West Charleston, Richard of North Hero, William of Tarpon Springs, Florida, and Keith of Easthampton. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, including Dean Powers Jr. of Morgan, Larry Powers of West Charleston, and Jennifer Allen of Derby; and by 15 great-grandchildren.
Michael William Reidy
....show , 57, died on May 17, 2013, at his home in Jay, after a long illness.
He was born on October 18, 1955, and raised in Holden, Massachusetts.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, son and friend. Mr. Reidy, sometimes known as Full Blast, lived his life to the fullest. He was captain of his fishing vessel The Valkyrie, a regatta-winning sailor, and a maritime adventurer. The world was a better place with him in it.
He leaves his devoted wife Michelle; his stepmother Phyllis Handy; his children: Nils, Hannah, and Shon Reidy Jr., Jess and Zander Melo, Missy Ruggles, Kevin and Bethany Bonneau; his siblings: Timothy Reidy of Colorado and Carolyn Reidy-Ruberti, Joseph Reidy, and Susan Huntington, all of Massachusetts; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless lifelong friends.
He was predeceased by his father Edward Reidy, who died in January of 2012; and his mother Ruth (Lynch) Reidy, who died in January of 1991.
There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, June 1, at 3 p.m., at his home in Jay, at 135 Elm Drive, where he lived with his family. Immediately following the celebration, he will be buried in the small town cemetery on Cemetery Road in Jay.

Clair J. Stouffer
....show , 70, of Derby died suddenly on May 25, 2013, in Newport.
He was born on December 8, 1942, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Jean (Malseed) and Clair Stouffer Jr. On June 15, 1982, he married Carolyn Rueckert, who survives him.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a masters degree. He was a teacher at West Point Prep School in Monmouth, New Jersey, for many years. He was a member of the board of Vermont farmers markets and he and his dog, Eddie, were involved with Delta Pet Partners therapy dogs. He loved to display at the various farmers markets.
He is survived by his wife, Linn Stouffer, of Derby; his children: Jason C. Stouffer of Houston, Texas, and Ashley L. Stouffer of Newport; his brother T. Bradley Stouffer and his wife, Nancy, of Holland; his sister Charon Whitesell and her husband, Thomas, of Tequesta, Florida; and by several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Richard "Dick" Webster
....show , 77, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Newport Center, died suddenly on May 20, 2013, with his fiercely devoted and loving family by his side.
He was born on May 27, 1935, in Island Pond, the son of Ernest and Louisa Webster. He attended and graduated from Brighton High School in 1954. On September 13, 1959, he married his wife, Charlotte Elaine Powers. Together they created a family, built their own home, and spent the next 54 years traveling through the entire United States, Canada and Mexico.
He worked all his adult life for the Canadian Pacific Railway, Prouty & Miller, North Country Hospital, and later on for Pick and Shovel. In 1992, they moved to Las Vegas to be near their beloved daughter, her husband, and their grandchildren. In later years, great-grandchildren joined the family. The family loved to hear his stories and he taught everyone so much.
He was a friend to everyone and helped all he knew, from building homes, to baling hay. He was an amazing, funny, selfless, hard working man, loved by all who knew him. He puttered all the time, right up until he passed. He was always building something.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte and their loving children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
There will be no funeral services, as family will have a private ceremony honoring his memory at a place special to him and his family in Nevada.
Therese A. Doyon
....show , 84, of Lowell died on May 19, 2013, in Newport.
She was born on October 4, 1928, in Winooski, the daughter of Leo and Aurore (Charpentier) Bonneau.
On August 16, 1949, she married Gaston Doyon, who survives her.
Mrs. Doyon and her husband farmed in Lowell for 29 years. She was a past member of the Ladies of Saint Anne and she taught catechism in Lowell for many years and she ran the kitchen at St. Ignatius Church. She was always ready to lend a helping hand in the community. She made cakes for different occasions and also ceramic arts and crafts.
She loved to have her family come for visits as she derived great pleasure from her family. She also enjoyed many activities with her husband including playing cards, Bingo, entertaining and traveling. She enjoyed bowling and going to music events with her husband and she was a diehard Red Sox fan.
She is survived by her husband Gaston Doyon of Lowell; and by her children: Madeleine Greenway and her companion, Gerry Green, of Lowell, Marielle Tetreault and her husband, Roger Jr., of Westfield, Marcel Doyon and his wife, Catherine, of Denver, Colorado, Maurice Doyon and his wife, Jacqueline, of Manchester, New Hampshire, Aline Bathalon and her husband, Guy, of Derby, and Paul Doyon and his wife, Pauline, of Westfield; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and by numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother Bernard Bonneau and his wife, Fernande, of North Troy; her sisters: Martha Limoges and her husband, Real, of Troy, and Celine Leblanc and her husband, Norman, of Jericho; and by her sister-in-law Mary Bonneau of Lowell.
She was predeceased by two children: Michael and Agnes; her granddaughter Sandra; her sister Maria Lamarche; and by three brothers: Jean Paul, Gerard, and Ange Marie.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road in Newport. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, at St. Ignatius Church in Lowell, with the Reverend Ladislaus Whelinde celebrating a Mass of Christian burial. Lillian Mary (Allen) Willis
....show , 85, died on Friday, May 17, 2013, in North Country Hospital in Newport, with her family by her side.
She was born on August 3, 1927, in Mansonville, Quebec, to Leon and and Erdine (Gibeau) Allen.
She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, holding many positions in the Troy, Newport and Island Pond chapters until she was no longer able to attend. She worked for many years as a waitress at the Green Valley Restaurant in Troy. She retired from Bogner of America in 1985. After retirement, she kept busy doing various sewing jobs and watching Tyler Paxman, from the time of his birth until he went to school. He became a very special grandson to her.
On May 10, 1947, she married Malcolm (Pete) Willis.
She is survived by the following family: four sons and their wives: Dennis and Linda Willis, Gary and Fay Willis, Keith and Jackie Willis, and Jim and Janet Willis; and seven grandchildren: Rick Willis and his partner, Terry Davis, Robbie Willis and his wife, Marnie, Carrie Lamadeleine and her partner, Justin Wright, Roy Willis and his partner, Athena Farrar, Jessie Willis, Melissa Laramie and her husband, Philip, and Lynn Willis and her partner, Joe Brooks. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-granchildren; her sisters: Pauline Haney and her husband, Tom, Ernestine Monfette, Albertine Woodard, and Maxlene Mongeau and her husband, Rick; her brother Lyle Allen and his wife, Sue; her sisters-in-law: Thelma Willis, Mildren Allen, Esther Allen, and Betty Allen; and by many nieces and nephews in Vermont, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Quebec.
She was predeceased by her husband, Pete; her grandson David; her grandson Jason Lucier; her great-great-grandson Trevor; several brothers; one sister; and by several brothers- and sisters-in law.

Joel Max Andress
....show , 81, of Newport died on April 21, 2013, while visiting his son and daughter-in-law in Clarkdale, Arizona.
He was born July 1, 1931, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the son of Ruth and Joseph Andress. In 1988, he married Joanne R. Sunnie Andress, and they celebrated 25 years together shortly before his death.
As a young boy, his family lived for ten years on the family farm in Beebe, Quebec, where he had many happy times with his Canadian friends and with his uncle and aunt, Edwin and Eileen Earle, in Derby Line. After moving to Wellesley, Massachusetts, he continued his schooling, graduating from Wellesley High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the Coast Guard, serving aboard the Nantucket Lightship and also on Wake Island. After his military service, he attended the University of the Pacific for his B.A. and received his M.A. and Ph.D. in geography from the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Andress joined the Central Washington University faculty in 1966 and taught classes in cartography, climatology, Asian studies and geography.
After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Vermont, a state he loved and remembered fondly from childhood. He enjoyed being close once again to his Aunt Eileen and his much loved cousins, Nancy Earle, Lydia Bredemeier, Eileen Linzi and Peter Earle and their families. He had an extensive knowledge of family history and enjoyed sharing his memories with family and friends. He had a dry sense of humor and made a point of being a Grandpa who thought that each of his grandchildren and step-grandchildren should be a bit of a scamp, and that it was up to him to teach them.
He is survived by his wife Sunnie Andress of Newport; his children: Peter Andress and his wife, Penny, Katy Fogg, Laura Andress, and Rebecca Reid and her husband, Ken; and by his grandchildren: Zachery Andress, Evelyn Reid and Duncan Reid. He is also survived by his step-children: Kevin Henry, Tamara Wilson and Michelle Landis; and by his 18 step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren who have fond memories of Grandpa Joe. He is also survived by his two sisters: Ruth Andress of Wellesley, and Marcia Jester of Longmeadow, Massachusetts; two brothers: Tom Andress of Camarillo, California, and David Andress and his wife, Jeannette, of Newberg, Oregon, and their families; his brother-in law, the Reverend Gary Rolph, and his wife, Jean; and by three nephews: Matthew Rolph, Marcus Rolph and Micah Rolph, and their families.

Reginald Joseph "Reg" Letourneau

He was born on October 10, 1925, in Holland, a son of Napoleon and Albertine (Ouimette) Letourneau. On May 28, 1949, he married Dolorese Roy, who survives him.
Mr. Letourneau owned and operated the family farm in Holland for many years.
He enjoyed gardening, maple sugaring, family gatherings, dancing, listening to music and working in his sugar woods. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, as he was a part of the snow drifters club, and going with his wife to the Pick & Shovel on Sunday afternoons for ice cream. Most of all he enjoyed life, his family and his friends.
He is survived by his wife Dolorese Letourneau of Holland; his children: Bertrand Letourneau and his wife, Susie, of Holland, Yves Letourneau and his life partner, Ruth, and Richard, of Newport, and Cilla Letourneau and her wife, Lauri, of Essex; his grandchildren: Patrick Letourneau and his wife, Sherry, of Vernal, Utah, Jennifer Martin and her partner, Joe, of Holland, Bobbi-Jo Letourneau of Holland, and Shawn Littlefield of Essex; his great-grandchildren: Storm Lamarche of Westfield, Raven Letourneau of Vernal, Charlotte, Annabelle and Chloe-Emma (Pepe Poopoo), all of Holland; his siblings: Paul Letourneau of Derby, Andre Letourneau and his wife, Dolores, of East Charleston, Joseph Letourneau and his wife, Delia, of Derby, Laurent Letourneau and his wife, Alicia, of Derby, Philip Letourneau and his wife, Barbara, of Derby, and Cecile Fortin of Holland; his sister-in-law Denise Bowen (Ray) of Newport; his sister-in-law Simone Roy of Sherbrooke, Quebec; his brother-in-law Sylvia Piette of Coventry; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Marcel Joseph Roberts
....show , 70, of Newport, a well-known local businessman, died on May 6, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 15, 1943, in East Albany, the son of the late John and Angela (Choquette) Roberts.
On March 17, 1962, he married Stella French, who survives him. He attended Champlain College in Burlington, and Riesch Auctioneer School.
He was a prominent auctioneer and real estate broker for most of his life. He was also active in farming and livestock dealings. He was former president of the Cattlemans Association.
In his spare time, he enjoyed frequent visits from his poker buddies for a few hands of cards and the Friday night dinners with the crew at the East Side Restaurant.
He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4329. He enjoyed being part of the annual Orleans County Board of Realtors Christmas charity auction. He was a past member of Newport Elks #2155.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Stella Roberts; three daughters: Lori Poopsie Roberts of Derby, Diane Tootsie DeLaBruere of Monkton, and Sue Suzie Rhodes and her husband, Brent, of Derby; his only son Richard Richie Roberts and his fiancée, Peggy Lamonda, of Coventry; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a special family friend and co-worker, Diane Parenteau of Derby Line.
He was predeceased by two brothers: Roger and Richard.
Funeral services were held on May 10, in Newport. Interment followed in St. Marys Cemetery in Newport.

Alton V. Ryder
....show , 78, of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire, died on April 29, 2013, at Bedford Hills in Bedford, New Hampshire, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Portland, Maine, on December 15, 1934, the son of Ora A. and Adele (Owen) Ryder. He was raised in Barton and graduated from high school in Plainville, Connecticut. His stepfather Lelan Basford is remembered fondly for his guiding hand to Mr. Ryders upbringing. Mr. Ryder studied physics at Brown University, graduating in the Class of 1956.
He made his home in Mont Vernon for the past 50 years. He was curious and engaged in many things. Work, community and hobbies were all embraced with gusto. He had been employed as an engineer for Sanders Associates and Digital Equipment Corporation for many years where he contributed to the safety of our nation and the birth of modern computing.
He loved his community and worked tirelessly on various committees including as a cemetery trustee, supervisor of the checklist, study committee for the library and transfer station, and as a volunteer firefighter. For several years, he served as director of the New Hampshire Cemetery Association. For many years he could be found Easter morning in the church kitchen making pancakes and enjoying the company of his close friends.
He had hobbies many hobbies. A sample includes scout leader, radio-controlled model planes, beekeeping, and woodworking. He deeply enjoyed working with the land and animals. He kept horses, cows, pigs, poultry, and especially geese. He had a voracious appetite for learning new things, which was an inspiration to many of his friends and acquaintances.
Family members include his wife of 55 years, Betty (Buschman) Ryder of Mont Vernon; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Peter Ryder and Kathleen Conk Ryder of New Boston, New Hampshire, and Eric Ryder of Hillsborough, New Hampshire; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Stephen Hauser of Carlisle, Massachusetts; and five grandchildren: Sarah Ryder, Ethan Ryder, Angus Godbout, Declan Godbout and Isaiah Hauser.
There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 25, at 11 a.m., in Green Lawn Cemetery in Mont Vernon, to be followed by an informal gathering in the Round Room at the Mont Vernon Congregational Church.

Trudy Bartlau
....show , 77, of South Burlington, died on April 29, at Burlington Health & Rehab.
She grew up during World War II in Himmelstadt, Germany, daughter of Karl and Margarete (Ritter) Post, and came to this country in 1955 to work as a lab technician at Jamaica Hospital in New York City. Acquiring current medical knowledge was one of her lifelong passions. In New York, she met and married a Prussian immigrant, Alfred Bartlau.
She and her husband moved to Vermont in 1962, first building their own little cabin in the wild in East Haven, then to Coventry to farm, forage, and live off the land on 274 acres. Their love of ice fishing finally led them to the shores of Seymour Lake in Morgan Center. Many will recall that she and her family owned the Morgan Country Store in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Mrs. Bartlau took real pleasure in the natural world. She could make anything grow and loved nurturing animals in need, especially her beloved rabbit, Stretch. Her children fondly remember her resourcefulness in creating something special from the gifts and bounty of nature. She took great pride in these accomplishments.
Her surviving family include her husband of 54 years, Alfred Bartlau of Burlington; her daughter Monika Turner and her life partner, Jonathan Fenton, of South Burlington; her son Peter Bartlau of Westford; her son Walter Bartlau of Shelburne, whom Mr. and Mrs. Bartlau lived with for the past 12 years; and her son Werner Bartlau and his wife, Jennifer, of Cambridge; and by her grandchildren: Joseph Turner, Thomas Bartlau, Katrina Turner, Elise Turner, and Morgan Bartlau.

Madeline Elizabeth (Williams) Bezio
....show , 99, of Newport died on May 3, 2013, in Newport.
She was born in Barre on March 26, 1914, to Fred F. and Ivey (Clark) Williams.
She attended schools in Barre, Williamstown and Barre Town.
She was married to Henry F. Bezio in Washington on June 8, 1929; he predeceased her on April 29, 1979. She lived nearly 50 years in Williamstown and served many years as a member of the Ainsworth Public Library board of directors. She also wrote articles for the Times Argus.
She moved to Newport in June of 1981 and was active in the Seniors Center Group. She loved gardening and flowers and couldnt wait for the earth to warm every spring.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary (Bezio) Hundley, of McAlester, Oklahoma; a son, Charles, and Jean, of Newport and Texas; and one half-sister, Ivey (Williams), and Paul Myers of South Burlington. Survivors also include eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Henry; one sister, Freda (Williams) Bogaczyk; one half-sister, May L. Williams; four half-brothers: Edwin, Henry, Ernest, and Dolor Poulin; one son-in-law, Joe; one grandson, James Hundley; and two great-grandsons: Erick Wahweah and C. Daniel Green.

Arland J. Bowen Jr.

He was born on May 2, 1945, to Irma Bowen and the late Arland J. Bowen Sr.
On February 6, 1965, he married Dawn Bessette, who survives him.
He graduated from Derby Academy in 1964 and from 1964 to 2005 he worked as a machinist at Tivoly in Derby Line. He was on the Derby Line Ambulance Service for 30 years, the Derby Line Fire Department for 35 years, and he was an instructor for hunter safety for 40 years. He loved to hunt and fish. He is survived by his wife Dawn Bowen of Derby Line; and by his two sons: Troy Bowen and his wife, Darlene, and Tracy Bowen and his wife, Kim. He is also survived by his mother Irma Bowen; his grandsons: Brandon and Joshua Bowen; his granddaughter Emma Bowen; his great-granddaughter Brookelyn Bowen; his step-grandchildren: Darwin D. and Becca Dingman, Jason and Michelle Dagesse, and Darian and Samantha Stewart; his siblings: Joyce McDonald, Terry Lumbra and her husband, Deforest, and Raymond Bowen and his wife, Denise; his brother-in-law Oscar Roberts; and by his aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father Arland J. Bowen Sr. in 1975.

Freda Alice Cass

She was born on August 1, 1921, in Magog, Quebec, the daughter of Arthur and Susan (Brill) Tryon. On December 5, 1942, she married Carroll Cass, who predeceased her on September 14, 2002.
She was a member of the Morgan United Church, Charleston Church and Morgan Home Dem Group. She worked as a cook for several years at a boarding house and for a doctor in Long Island, New York. She and her husband both worked on the Morgan sugar-on-snow event, cutting ice in the winter and helping to serve the public in the summer. Mr. and Mrs. Cass owned a farm and Cass Construction, and Mrs. Cass was the right hand man and together they were a hard-working pair and still found time to give to their community, family and friends.
She is survived by her children: Natalie Cass of Florida; Nancy Cass and her husband, Terrill Judd, of Newport; and Nada Parker and her husband, Ferris, of Maryland. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Amanda Jewell and her husband, John, of Derby, Michelle Cass Fortin and her husband, Edward, of Morgan, and Philip Parker. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Sam Joyce of Derby and Marisa and Emily Fortin of Morgan; and by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers: Darcy Tryon and Nelson Tryon; and by two sisters: Ruth Curtis and Mary Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, May 11, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road in Newport. Friends may call on May 11, at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of the funeral. Interment will follow in West Charleston Cemetery.

He was born on March 20, 1928, in Coventry, the son of Clyde and Budd (Wilcox) Columbia. On July 16, 1949, he married Cecile Boisvert, who predeceased him on June 26, 2002.
He was a dairy farmer, and he owned and operated the family farm for most of his life. He was also employed by the state of Vermont from 1955 to 1956. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He enjoyed antiques, gardening, hunting, listening to country music with Thelma, attending music jams and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his sons: Larry Columbia and his wife, Sandra, of Newport Center, and Robert Columbia of Troy; his grandchildren: Eric Columbia and his wife, Nicole, Bradley Columbia, Brock Columbia and his wife, Erin, Travis Columbia and his friend, Sami Johnson, Shawn Columbia and his wife, Carmen, Anthony Columbia and his partner, Sydney Bliven, and Christopher Columbia and his wife, Autumn; and by his great-grandchildren: Nicole Columbia, Erica Columbia, Courtney Columbia, Brandon Columbia, Fayth Columbia, Trent Columbia, Tevyn Columbia, Sylas Columbia, Dylan Columbia, Michaela Columbia, Jesse and Dana Fournier, Shawna Columbia, Cassandra, Brooke and Hailey, Shawna and Madelynn, Brook-Lyn, Ashlyn, GGC, Colby, Brice, and Emmett. Hubert D. (Pin) Freehart

He was born on November 3, 1926, in Barton. On October 28, 1961, he married Patricia Nolan, who survives him.
He was a machine operator for Ethan Allen Manufacturing in Orleans, where he retired after 40 years of service. He and his wife enjoyed going for rides and stopping for ice cream in the summer time. He would sit on the railing at the Old Howard National Bank in Orleans and wave and visit with people as they went by. He was a friendly person to all and would always be ready to lend a hand. Among his hobbies, he enjoyed detailing cars.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Freehart of Orleans; his children: Tim Freehart and his companion, Shirley, of St. Johnsbury, and Linda Gregor and her husband, Joseph, of New Hampshire; his grandchildren: Shawn Chapdelaine and his companion, Linda Simonphone, of Massachusetts, and his step-daughter, Diamond, and Gerald and Lorraine Freehart; his great-great-grandson Shawn Chapdelaine Jr.; and by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister and several brothers.
Ellen Margaret (Berry) Maclure
....show , 60, of Barton died on May 3, 2013, with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on December 3, 1952, in Newport, daughter of the late John and Eileen Berry. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and Johnson State College. A teacher for nearly 30 years, she spent the majority of her career as a third grade teacher at Sacred Heart. Her love for teaching and the children did not end after her retirement as she continued as a substitute teacher regularly in the local elementary schools.
She enjoyed the simple things in life: spending time with her family, sitting on her front porch with her husband listening to the birds, taking walks, and spoiling her grand puppies.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 37 years, Daniel, and their daughter Emily of Craftsbury, and their son Nicholas and his wife, Megan, of Derby. She is also survived by her sister Kathy Berry Bergeron and her husband, Bob, of Jericho; her sister Patsy and her husband, Allen Clark, of Derby; her sisters- and brothers-in-law: Joanne and her husband, David Wursthorn, of Troy, Yves and his wife, Maryellen Maclure, of Newport, Ron and his wife, Robin Maclure, of Palmer, Alaska, Guy Maclure and his partner, Kevin, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Ginette and her husband, Denny ODay, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and by many nieces and nephews.

Henry "Hank" W. Pigeon
....show , 75, of Rockville, Connecticut, husband of 53 years to June (Dickens) Pigeon, died on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, with his family at his side.
Born in North Troy, the son of the late Wilfred and Aurora (Gendron) Pigeon, he grew up and lived in North Troy before moving to Rockville in 1960. Prior to his retirement, he was a custodian in the Vernon, Connecticut, school system for several years. He was previously employed by the Amerbelle Corporation and the Rockville Reminder. He was a U. S. Navy veteran. He was a longtime devoted firefighter with the Rockville Fire Department where he served as Battalion Chief for the ladder company. He was an advisor for the Rockville Fire Department Explorer Post #641 and was a Boy Scout Leader with Troop 815.
He enjoyed hunting, camping and was an avid fan of UConn womens basketball. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Beverly Crowley and her husband, Robert, of Tolland, Connecticut, and Edward Pigeon and his wife, Kelly, of Ellington, Connecticut; six grandchildren: Jessica Crowley and her fiancé, Michael McCormick, Nicole Crowley and her fiancé, Justin Gagnon, Deborah Crowley, Rhiannon Robert and her fiancé, Chad Pelletier, and Nicholas and Emily Pigeon; four sisters: Gabrielle Maguda and her husband, Donald, of Vernon, Connecticut, Anna Parker and her husband, David, of Newberry, Theresa Daigle and her husband, Jacques, of Troy, and Denise Pigeon of North Troy; and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother Wilfred Pigeon Jr.

Born in Bermuda, the daughter of the late Frank and Gloria Dickens, she grew up and lived in Bermuda, and after she married Mr. Pigeon, they lived in North Troy, before moving to Rockville in 1960. Prior to her retirement in 1993, she was employed by the former Acromold Products Corp. in Ellington, Connecticut, for many years. She was previously employed by the former Roosevelt Mills.
She was an advisor for the Rockville Fire Department Explorer Post # 641 and was a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed camping, knitting, traveling and was an avid UConn womens basketball fan. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

His hobbies included playing video games, fishing, watching science fiction movies, coloring and drawing and tinkering around the house.

She was born on September 20, 1907, in Holland, the daughter of Fritz and Ida (Forbes) Osgood. She married Howard C. Allen, who predeceased her in 1971.
Mrs. Allen was a sales clerk for the former Fishmans Store and bookkeeper for the Montgomery Ward Store for over 30 years, retiring in 1971. She loved to read, to go trout fishing, and deer hunting at their camp in Coventry. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting, and traveling.
She is survived by her son Edward Allen of Newport; her daughter-in-law Donna Allen of Wyoming; her grandchildren: Jill Mackey, Melody Toth and her husband, Rich, and James Allen and his companion, Tammy, all of Wyoming; seven great-grandchildren; and by several great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son Howard C. Allen Jr.; her grandson Howard Allen III; her half-brothers: Norman and Clayton Smith; her sisters: Nettie Vancour and Amy Lamb; and by her half-sister Blanche Brooks.

She was born on August 12, 1923, in Derby Line, the daughter of Cyril and Albertina (Lessard) Fortin.
She worked at the St. Johnsbury hospital as a nurses aide and Mt. Sacred Heart in Littleton, New Hampshire. She also was a resident at Michaud Manor in Derby Line from 1994 to 2004, when she moved to Derby Green. She was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church in St. Johnsbury, and also the Alter Society of the Church.
She is survived by her siblings: Viateur Fortin and his wife, Rita, of Derby, Rita Peterson of Lyndonville, and Yolande Osowski of New Jersey; her sisters-in-law: Melvidene Fortin of Derby, and Jeanne Fortin of Connecticut; and by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by the following siblings: Maurice Fortin, Reginald Fortin, Alexander Fortin, and Sister Cecile Fortin.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Derby Line, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Rosalie L. Guyette
....show , 86, of Derby died peacefully on April 24, 2013, surrounded by her family, in Burlington.
She was born on March 18, 1927, in Derby, the daughter of Edmond and Marie (Moeykens) Lippens. On November 30, 1950, she married Arthur Guyette, who predeceased her on May 22, 2011.
Mrs. Guyette graduated from the University of Vermont with a masters degree in education. She was a longtime teacher and started her career in the 1940s, where she taught in a one-room schoolhouse. The majority of her career was at the Newport City schools.
She loved to travel to many locations in every continent except Antarctica. She also lived in French Morocco, Africa, when she was newly-wed. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her children: John Guyette and his wife, Diane, Lisa Boskind and her husband, Scott, and Mary Oliver and her husband, Mike, all of Derby. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Joanne Guyette-Worth of Newport. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Robert Boskind and his fiancée, Kathy Dunn, and Sean Boskind, and Stephanie, Sean and Samantha Guyette; her siblings: Elaine Reid of St. Johnsbury, Lucille Meunier of Newport, Harold Lippens of Florida, Annette Trombly of Derby Line, and Jeanine Martin of Bryan, Texas; and by her brothers-in-law: Leo Guyette and his wife, Joyce, of Newport, and Roland Guyette and his wife, Sandra, of Vergennes. She is also survived by two dear friends: Madeline Roy and Bev White.
She was predeceased by her son Steve Guyette; and by her siblings: Leonard Joe Lippens, Madeline Nault, and by Paul and Pauline in infancy.

She was born on November 3, 1933, in Mansonville, Quebec, the daughter of Wallace and Henrietta (Libby) Julien. On February 3, 1951, she married Gerard John Lacroix.
She attended the Ursaline Convent in Stanstead, Quebec. She enjoyed crafts, painting, knitting, and crocheting. She was very gifted and the most enjoyment to her was cooking and entertaining her family and friends. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies, Community Circle, and Cercle Fermiere in Quebec.
She is survived by her husband Gerard Lacroix of Newport; her precious dog Cuddles, who gave her such joy and never left her side; and by her children: Richard Lacroix and his wife, Francine, of Beebe, Quebec, and Annette Lantagne and her husband, Dennis, of Newport. She is also survived by her grandchildren: David Lacroix and his companion, Annie, of Sherbrooke, Rachel Lacroix of Calgary, Canada, Charles Lacroix and his companion, Ariane, of Levis, Quebec, Crystal Haselton of Boulder, Colorado, Nathan Haselton of Colorado, and Katelyn Lantagne of Newport; and by her great-grandchildren: Gabrielle, Elliott, Felix Antoine, Lohann, and Beatrice. She is also survived by her siblings: Pauline Gilbert of Beebe, Irene Royea of Beebe, and Murray Julien and his wife, Gladys, of Nova Scotia, Canada; and by several nieces and nephews.

She was born on September 29, 1940, in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1959, she married John W. Nicely, who predeceased her in 1978.
She graduated from Johnson State College with a bachelors degree. She was a grant writer for NEKCA, retiring after 20 years, and she spent a few years as an English teacher in Russia. She was an avid reader and a member of the Bread and Puppet Theatre.
She is survived by her two daughters: Shannon Clark of Minnesota, and Christine Douglas of Florida; her grandchildren: April Douglas of Florida, Jimmy McBride of Minnesota, and Jeff McBride of Florida; and by her great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Boese, A.J. Radcliff of Florida, Caitlin McBride and Connor McBride of Newport.
She was predeceased by a brother, Jack Jr. A memorial service was held on April 27 in Stannard.
Marcel J. Paquette
....show , 53, of Amarillo, Texas, died suddenly on April 19, 2013, in Phoenix, Arizona.
He was born on September 13, 1959, in Newport, the son of Reynold Paquette and the late Jeanne (Guillette) Paquette. He enlisted into the U.S. Army for seven years. On September 3, 1989, he married Regina Pietkiewicz, who survives him. He was a postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service for many years.
He is survived by his wife Regina Paquette of Amarillo; his children: Felicia and Allison Paquette, both of Amarillo; his father Reynold Paquette of Newport; his sisters: Yvonne Steinhoff and her husband, Ernest, of Newport, Linda Keifer and her husband, Lloyd, of Clifton Park, New York, and Diane Tanguay of Newport; his sister-in-law Monique Paquette of Lyndonville; and by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Michael Paquette, in 1995.
Funeral services were held on April 27, in Derby Line. Interment followed in St. Theresas Cemetery in Orleans.
Ross A. St. Onge

He was born on December 15, 1923, in Newport Center, the son of Clayton and Carrie (Angier) St. Onge.
Mr. St. Onge and his family were always active in playing music and as kids they were known as the United Farmers Kids and played Sundays on WDEV radio in Waterbury. He and Lucille (Davis) St. Onge were married for 63 years. Mrs. St. Onge predeceased him on January 27, 2012. He and his wife farmed, owned a bowling alley, and were involved in many events in Newport Center where he also worked on the road crew before working for the state of Vermont. They enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, horses, and the outdoors in general and family gatherings. He loved playing his guitar, fiddle and banjo.
He is survived by his children: Bonnie Draper of Troy, Steven Rexford of Colchester, and Gary St. Onge and his companion, Linda Robertson, of Pennsylvania; his grandchildren: Michael Millette and his wife, Jodie, Michelle St. Onge, Darcy Rippon and her husband, Dale, Lisa McGinns, Craig Rexford and his wife, Melissa, Tanya Searles and her husband, Lar, Dan Rexford and his wife, Jessica, Todd Draper and his wife, Vikki, and Tara Wright and her husband, Shawn; his 16 great-grandchildren; his brother Neil St. Onge and his wife, Shirley, of Irasburg; his sisters: Esther Donovan and her husband, Mike, of Newport Center, and Erlah Kennison of Westfield; and by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son-in-law Reginald Draper; his daughter-in-law Gail Rexford; and by his brother-in-law Clifton Kennison.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road in Newport, with the Reverend Richard Whitehill officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on May 4, from 1 p.m. until the hour of the funeral. Interment will follow in Newport Center Cemetery.
