....show , 77, of Derby Line, VT passed away on May 30, 2013 in Burlington, VT. She was born February 25, 1936 in Lowell, VT the daughter Clovis and Albertine (Beausoleil) Ranville.
Mrs. Patenaude was a cook at the Holland and Derby Line Elementary Schools. Her hobbies included canning, knitting, gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, toll painting, and she had a precious angel collection. She was a wonderful mother and meme.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Alphonse Patenaude of Derby Line, VT, by her children: Jeanne OBryan and her husband Mark of Fairfax, VT, Donald Patenaude and his wife Cindy of Brattleboro, VT, Louise Wilson and her husband Tom of Mooers, NY, Danny Patenaude and his wife Rhonda of Derby, VT, Linda Elliott and her husband Wayne of Essex Center, VT, Monique LaPlante and her husband Arthur of Beebe Plains, VT, by her grandchildren: Erin, Monika, Whitney, Ryan, Michael, Tyler, Taylor, Erin, Brandon, and Emma, and by her step grandchildren: Jena and Kati and Charlee. She is also survived by her sisters: Georgette Salafia and her husband Henry of MA, Priscilla Boucher and her husband Phil of Hudson, NH, Anna Gravel and her husband Raymond of Wolcott, VT, and Laurette Beasley of FL, and by her sister-in-law Georgette Ranville of MA.
She was predeceased by her son Michael Patenaude in 1958, by five brothers: Fernand, Roland, Leonard, Ivan, and Alfred Ranville, by her brother-in-law John Beasley.

Steven Sanders Brown
....show , 70, of Glover, Vermont, passed away peacefully in his home on May 29, 2013. He was born August 14, 1942 in Barton, VT, the son of Frederick and Shirley (Sanders) Brown.
Steve was raised in Barton, VT by his grandparents Reta and Fred C. Brown and attended Barton Academy. Steve was selected as a Legislative Page and served daily in his seventh grade year at the Vermont State House in Montpelier. He also attended Champlain Business College in Burlington, VT. He married Isabelle Menard on November 25, 1961. They owned and operated the Candlepin Restaurant, Browns Bowling Alley, the Cave Dance Hall in Barton, VT and retired after 46 years in business.
Steve was a lifetime member of the National Arbor Day Foundation, NRA and NRA Golden Eagles Club, Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and a member of the Orleans Masonic Lodge #55.
Steve loved being with his family and their many gatherings celebrating holidays and birthdays. He especially loved being with his grandchildren and attending their sporting, school
and community activities. Steve throughout his life enjoyed baseball and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. He also was a true Vermont Steward of his land planting trees, gardening, working in the woods, building stone walls and haying the fields. He raised Hereford cows for several years and enjoyed them grazing in the fields surrounding him.
He is survived by his children: Diane Brown of Littleton, NH, Donna Perry and her husband Anthony of Barton, VT, Lisa Brown and Pauline Frisina of Rye, NH, Ted Brown and his wife Andrea of Glover, VT, Carmen Brown and Jeremy Knights of Glover, VT, by his grandchildren: Hannah Brown, Parker Brown, Dayna Knights, Kelby Knights, Rylee Knights and Gabriel Frisina-Brown.
He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law: Pauline and Ralph Nault, Roland Menard, Rita and Bob Benoit, Denise Wilkins, Frank and Sue Menard, Patty Saum, Raymond Menard, Pierre Menard, and Carol and Michael Coggio. He was predeceased by his wife Isabelle Brown on February 12, 2004 and by two sisters: Patricia Wheeler and Jacqueline Nattress.

Gertrude M. Fontaine
....show , 90, of Derby, VT passed away on May 29, 2013 in Newport, VT. She was born July 9, 1922 in Newport, VT a daughter of Charles and Mary Ann (Gokey) Cheney. On December 29, 1947 she married Lawrence Fontaine who survives her.
Mrs. Fontaine was Post Master for the United States Postal Service in the Town of Morgan where she retired after 12 years of service. She also worked as a telephone operator for several years in Troy, VT.
She enjoyed cooking much to the delight of her family and friends. She knitted 11,000 pair of mittens for charity and formerly worked on upholstery.
She and Lawrence made several trips to Florida over many years during the winter months. She was always willing to give a hand to her friends and neighbors.
She is survived by her husband Lawrence Fontaine of Derby, VT, by her children: Stephen Fontaine of Beecher Falls, VT, Dennis Fontaine and his wife Nancy of Twin MT, NH, and Laurie Fontaine of Derby, VT, by her grandchildren: Melanie Walker and her husband David, Stephen Fontaine and his wife Lauren, Sarah Fontaine, Brian Fontaine, Adam Fontaine, and by her great grandchildren: Jacob, Jonathan, and Jessalyn Walker, and by Tyler and Gavin Fontaine and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Sherman Fontaine, by a grandson Matthew Fontaine and by the following siblings: Earl Cheney, Nelson Cheney, Maynard Cheney, Edna Liberty, and Rita Berthiaume.

....show , 94, of St. Albans, VT passed away on May 27, 2013 in St. Albans. She was born August 13, 1918 in Beebe, Quebec the daughter of Joseph and Mabel (Langevin) Martel. On February 21, 1944 she married Rene Chapdelaine who predeceased her in 2004. Among her hobbies, she enjoyed working on cross word puzzles, jig saw puzzles, playing bingo and watching westerns on television.
She is survived by her children: Norman Chapdelaine of St. Albans, VT, and Raymond Chapdelaine of Stowe, VT. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Leo Martel, and by three sisters: Germaine Belleville, Alexandra and Antoinette.

Kenneth W. Page
....show , 91, of Derby, VT passed away on May 26, 2013 in Newport, VT. He was born September 2, 1921 in Morgan, VT, the son of Guy and Freda (Nichols) Page. On April 7, 1950 he married Dorothy White who survives him.
Kenneth was a veteran of WW11. He was a machinist at Linton Industries in Derby Line, VT for many years. His love was his appliance shop at his home Derby, VT where he also enjoyed people coming to visit.
He was a member of the Church of God in Derby, VT.
He is survives by his wife Dorothy Page of Derby, VT by his son David Page of Island Pond, VT, by his brother Bruce Page of Southwick, MA, by his sisters-in-law Phyllis Page of Holland, VT and Anne Page of Florida and by his brother-in-law Charles Moulton of Charleston, VT and by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers: Stanley Page, Andrew Page, Floyd Page, Ronald Page Killed in Action in WW11, Ovis Page as an infant, by his sister Maxine Moulton, by his half brother Ernest Wheeler and by his half sister Ella Grady.

Clair J. Stouffer
....show , 70, of Derby, VT passed away suddenly on May 25, 2013 in Newport, VT. He was born on December 8, 1942 in Harrisburg, PA, the son of Clair and Jean (Malseed) Stouffer, Jr. On June 15, 1982 he married Carolyn Rueckert who survives him.
Clair was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a masters degree. He was a teacher at WestPoint Prep School in Monmouth, New Jersey for many years. He was a member of the Board of VT Farmers markets and he and his dog Eddie were Delta Pet Partners Therapy Dogs. He loved to display at the various farmers markets.
He is survived by his wife Linn Stouffer of Derby, VT, by his children: Jason C. Stouffer of Houston, Texas, and Ashley L. Stouffer of Newport, VT. He is also survived by his brother T. Bradley Stouffer and his wife Nancy of Holland, VT and by his sister Charon Whitesell and her husband Thomas of Tequesta, FL and by several nieces and nephews. Richard (Rick) C. Caples
....show , 65, passed away unexpectedly on Friday May 24, 2013 surrounded by his family at the VA Hospital in White River Junction, VT. He was born in North Troy, VT on June 5, 1947 the son of Edward Caples and Beverly (Bolio) Caples. When Rick was a young he joined the military then worked at Jay Peak, Hayes Ford, Ethan Allen, Butterfields, and IBM.
He married Joyce (Jones) Caples on March 23, 1968. He loved fishing, bingo, and playing cards. Rick is survived by his wife Joyce, by his two sons: Richard Caples, Jr, and Roy Caples and his wife Naomi all of Derby, VT. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Savannah and husband Jason Williams, Ross, Heather, Patrick, Johnny, and Nicholas, by his great grandchildren: Emmett, Wrangler, Denim, and by his ex-daughter-in-law Althea Crocker.
Rick is also survived by his two sisters: Linda and husband Steve Star of Florida, Diane and husband Tim Bleau of Essex, VT, brothers: Spike and wife Mary Caples of Mississippi, and Chris Caples of N. Dakota, and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both his parents and by a brother Kirby Caples.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday June 5, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the North Troy Village Cemetery with full military honors.
Therese A. Doyon
....show , 84, of Lowell, VT passed away on May 19, 2013 in Newport, VT. She was born on October 4, 1928 in Winooski, VT the daughter of Leo and Aurore (Charpentier) Bonneau.
On August 16, 1949 she married Gaston Doyon who survives her.
Therese and her husband farmed in Lowell for 29 years. She was a past member of the Ladies of Ste Anne and she taught catechism in Lowell for many years and she ran the kitchen at St. Ignatius Church. She was always ready to lend a helping hand in the community. She made cakes for different occasions and also ceramic arts and crafts.
She loved to have her family come for visits as she derived great pleasure from her family. She also enjoyed many activities with her husband including playing cards, bingo, entertaining and traveling. She enjoyed bowling and going to music events with her husband and she was a di-hard red sox fan.
She is survived by her husband Gaston Doyon of Lowell, VT and by her children: Madeleine Greenway and her companion Gerry Green of Lowell, VT, Marielle Tetreault and her husband Roger,Jr of Westfield, VT, Marcel Doyon and his wife Catherine of Denver, Colorado, Maurice Doyon and his wife Jacqueline of Manchester, NH, Aline Bathalon and her husband Guy of Derby, VT, and Paul Doyon and his wife Pauline of Westfield, VT, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren and by numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother Bernard Bonneau and his wife Fernande of North Troy, VT, by her sisters: Martha Limoges and her husband Real of Troy, VT, and Celine Leblanc and her husband Norman of Jericho, VT, and by her sister-in-law Mary Bonneau of Lowell, VT. She was predeceased by two children Michael and Agnes, by her granddaughter Sandra, by her sister Maria Lamarche three brothers: Jean Paul, Gerard, and Ange Marie.

Michael William Reidy
....show , 57, born October 18, 1955 and raised in Holden, MA died at his home on May 17, 2013 in Jay, Vermont after a long illness.
He leaves his devoted wife Michelle, step mother Phyllis Handy, his children Nils, Hannah, and Shon Reidy, Jr; Jess and Zander Melo, Missy Ruggles, Kevin and Bethany Bonneau, his siblings Timothy Reidy of Colorado and Carolyn Reidy-Ruberti, Joseph Reidy, and Susan Huntington all of Massachusetts, many nieces, nephews, and cousins and countless lifelong friends.
Michael is predeceased by his father Edward Reidy who died in January 2012, and his mother Ruth (Lynch) Reidy who died in January 1991.
Michael was a loving husband, father, brother, son and friend. Michael, sometimes known as Full Blast, lived his life to the fullest. He was captain of his fishing vessel The Valkyrie, a regatta winning sailor, and a maritime adventurer. The world was a better place with him in it.
We will be celebrating Michaels life on June 1, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. at his home in Jay, Vermont at 135 Elm Drive where he lived with his family. Immediately following his celebration Michael will be buried in the small town cemetery on Cemetery Road in Jay, VT.

Lillian Mary (Allen) Willis
....show (85) passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 in Newport @North Country Hospital with her family by her side. She was born August 3, 1927 in Mansonville, Quebec, to Leon and & Erdine (Gibeau) Allen.
Lillian was a an active member of the Order of the Eastern Stars, holding many positions in the Troy, Newport and Island Pond Chapters until she was no longer able to attend. She worked for many years as a waitress at the Green Valley Restuarant in Troy. She retired from Bogner of America in 1985. After retirement, she kept busy doing various sewing jobs and watching Tyler Paxman, from the time of his birth until he went to school, who became a very special "grandson" to her.
On May 10, 1947, she married Malcolm (Pete) Willis. She is survived by the following family, Four sons and their wives, Dennis and Linda Willis, Gary and Fay Willis, Keith and Jackie Willis, and Jim and Janet Willis. Seven grandchildren, Rick Willis and partner Terry Davis, Robbie Willis and wife Marnie, Carrie Lamadeliene and partner Justin Wright, Roy Willis and partner Athena Farrar, Jessie Willis, Melissa Laramie and husband Philip, and Lynn Willis and partner Joe Brooks. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and four great great granchildren. Sisters Pauline Haney and husband Tom, Ernestine Monfette, Albertine Woodard, Maxlene Mongeau and husband Rick, brother Lyle Allen and wife Sue, sister in laws, Thelma Willis, Mildren Allen, and Betty Allen and by her sister-in-law Esther Allen. Many nieces and nephews in VT, NY, MA, NH, NC and Quebec.
She was predeased by her husband Pete, grandson David, grandson Jason Lucier, great great grandson Trevor, several brothers, one sister, and several brothers and sister in laws.

Reginald Joseph (Reg) Letourneau
....show , 87, of Holland, VT passed away on May 8, 2013 in Newport, VT. He was born October 10, 1925 in Holland, VT a son of Napoleon and Albertine ( Ouimette) Letourneau. On May 28, 1949 he married Dolorese Roy who survives him. Reginald owned and operated the family farm in Holland, VT for many years.
He enjoyed gardening, maple sugaring, family gatherings, dancing, listening to music and working in his sugarwoods. He also enjoyed snowmobiling as he was a part of the snow drifters club and going with Dolorese to the Pick & Shovel on Sunday afternoons for ice cream. Most of all he enjoyed life, his family and his friends.

....show , 70, of Newport, VT well-known local businessman passed away on May 6, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 15, 1943 in East Albany, VT the son of the late John and Angela (Choquette) Roberts.
On March 17, 1962 he married Stella French who survives him. He attended Champlain College in Burlington, VT and Riesch Auctioneer School.
He was a prominent auctioneer and real estate broker for most of his life. He was also active in farming and livestock dealings. He was former president of the Cattlemans Association. In his spare time he enjoyed frequent visits from his poker buddies for a few hands of cards and the Friday night dinners, with (the crew) at the Eastside Restaurant.
He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 4329. Marcel enjoyed being part of the annual Orleans County Board of Realtors Christmas Charity Auction. He was a past member of Newport Elks # 2155.
He leaves his wife Stella Roberts of 51 years, three daughters: Lori (Poopsie) Roberts of Derby, VT, Diane (Tootsie) DeLaBruere of Monkton, VT, Sue (Suzie) Rhodes and her husband Brent of Derby, VT and by his only son Richard (Richie) Roberts and his fiancée Peggy Lamonda of Coventry, VT, 11 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, by a special family friend and co-worker Diane Parenteau of Derby Line, VT. ....show , 91, of Morgan, VT passed away on May 4, 2013 in Barton, VT surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 1, 1921 in Magog, Quebec the daughter of Arthur and Susan (Brill) Tryon. On December 5, 1942 she married Carroll Cass who predeceased her on September 14, 2002. Freda was a member of the Morgan United Church, Charleston Church and Morgan Home Dem Group. She worked as a cook for several years at a boarding house and for a Doctor in Long Island, NY. She and her husband both worked on the Morgan Sugar on Snow event, cutting ice in the winter and helping to serve the public in the summer. Freda and Carroll owned a farm and Cass Construction, and she was the right hand man and together they were a hard working pair and still found time to give to their community, family and friends.
She is survived by her children: Natalie Cass of FL, Nancy Cass and her husband Terrill Judd of Newport, VT, and Nada Parker and her husband Ferris of Maryland.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Amanda Jewell and her husband John of Derby, VT, Michelle Cass Fortin and her husband Edward of Morgan, VT, and Philip Parker, who is in the US Army.
She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Sam Joyce of Derby, VT and Marisa and Emily Fortin of Morgan, VT, and by many nieces and nephews. Hubert D. (Pin) Freehart
....show , 86, of Orleans, VT passed away on May 3, 2013 in Barton, VT surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 3, 1926 in Barton, VT. On October 28, 1961 he married Patricia Nolan who survives him.
Hubert was a machine operator for Ethan Allen MFG in Orleans, VT where he retired after 40 years of service. He and Pat enjoyed going for rides and stoping for ice cream in the summertime. He would sit on the railing at the Old Howard National Bank in Orleans and wave and visit with people as they went by. Pin was a friendly person to all and would always be ready to lend a hand. Among his hobbies he enjoyed detailing cars.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Freehart of Orleans, VT, by his children: Tim Freehart and his companion Shirley of St. Johnsbury, VT, and Linda Gregor and her husband Joseph of NH. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Shawn Chapdelaine and his companion Linda Simonphone of Mass and his step daughter Diamond, Gerald and Lorraine Freehart , and by his great great grandson Shawn Chapdelaine, Jr and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister and several brothers.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Madeline Elizabeth (Williams) Bezio
....show , 99, of Newport, VT passed away on May 3, 2013 in Newport, VT. She was born in Barre,VT on March 26, 1914 to Fred F. and Ivey (Clark) Williams.
She attended schools in Barre, Williamstown and Barre Town.
She was married to Henry F. Bezio in Washington on June 8, 1929 who predeceased her on April 29, 1979. She lived nearly 50 years in Williamstown and served many years as a member of the Ainsworth Public Library Board of Directors there. She also wrote articles for the Times Argus.
Madeline moved to Newport in June 1981 and was active in the Seniors Center Group. She loved gardening and flowers and couldnt wait for the Earth to warm every Spring.
Survivors include one daughter Mary (Bezio) Hundley of McAlester, OK, a son Charles (Jean) of Newport, VT and Texas, one half sister, Ivey (Williams) and Paul Myers of South Burlington, VT. Survivors also include eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry, one sister, Freda (Williams) Bogaczyk, one half sister May L. Williams, four half brothers: Edwin, Henry, Ernest, and Dolor Poulin, one son-in-law Joe, one grandson: James Hundley and two great grandsons Erick Wahweah, and C. Daniel Green.

Gene Charlie Wilcox
....show , 55, of Newport, VT passed away suddenly on May 3, 2013 in Newport, VT. He was born on March 4, 1958 in Newport, VT, the son of Marjorie (Jewett) Wilcox and the late Basil Wilcox. Gene worked for Memphremagog Rentals of Newport, VT and also for Ethan Allen MFG in Orleans, VT when he was younger.
His hobbies included playing video games, fishing, watching SciFi movies, coloring and drawing and tinkering around the house.
He is survived by his children: Amy Wilcox and her husband Steve Woods of Newport, VT, Jennifer Bass and fiancé Justin Gamble of Newport, VT, Gene Wilcox and his wife Ella of NY, Steven Wilcox and his wife Melissa of NY, and Reba and Brittany Wilcox of Newport, VT. He is also survived by his mother Marjorie Wilcox and her companion and Genes step Dad Bud Graser of NY, by his 6 grandchildren: Andrew, Kaleb, Terry, Vlad, Molly, Eric, and by his best friend Doug Spates of Derby, VT. He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Wayne Wilcox of Barton, VT, Danny Wilcox and his wife Mary of WY, Kirk Wilcox of Brownington, VT, Max Wilcox of Enosburg Falls, VT, Mark Wilcox and his wife Lori of Johnson, VT, Beth Little and her husband Pete of Newport Center, VT, Marsha Byers and her husband Scott of Brownington, VT, and Kathy Coderre of North Troy, VT, and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother David Wilcox and his sister Marie Wilcox. Ellen Margaret (Berry) Maclure
....show , 60, of Barton passed away on May 3, 2013 with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She leaves behind her loving husband of 37 years Daniel and their daughter Emily of Craftsbury and their son Nicholas and his wife Megan of Derby.
Ellen was born December 3, 1952 in Newport, VT daughter of the late John & Eileen Berry. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart high school and Johnson State College. A teacher for nearly 30 years Ellen spent the majority of her career as a third grade teacher at Sacred Heart. Her love for teaching and the children did not end after her retirement as she continued as a substitute teacher regularly in the local elementary schools. Ellen enjoyed the simple things in life; spending time with her family, sitting on her front porch with her husband listening to the birds, taking walks, and spoiling her grand puppies.
She is also survived by her sister Kathy Berry Bergeron and her husband Bob of Jericho, VT, her sister Patsy and husband Allen Clark of Derby, VT, her sisters and brother in laws Joanne and husband David Wursthorn of Troy, VT, Yves & wife Maryellen Maclure of Newport, VT, Ron & wife Robin Maclure of Palmer, AK, Guy Maclure & partner Kevin of Anchorage, AK, Ginette & husband Denny O'Day of Colorado Springs, CO and many nieces and nephews.

Gordon C. Columbia
....show , 85, of Newport Center, VT passed away on May 3, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 20, 1928 in Coventry, VT the son of Clyde and Budd (Wilcox) Columbia. On July 16, 1949 he married Cecile Boisvert who predeceased him on June 26, 2002.
Gordon was a dairy farmer where he owned and operated the family Farm for most of his life. He was also employed by the State of Vermont from 1955-1956. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Gordon enjoyed antiques, gardening, hunting, listening to country music with Thelma, attending music jams and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his sons: Larry Columbia and his wife Sandra of Newport Center, VT and Robert Columbia of Troy, VT. Arland J. Bowen, Jr
....show , 68, of Derby Line, VT passed away on May 3, 2013 in Newport, VT. He was born on May 2, 1945 to Irma Bowen and the late Arland J. Bowen, Sr. On February 6, 1965 he married Dawn Bessette who survives him.
He graduated from Derby Academy in 1964 and from 1964-2005 he worked as a machinist at Tivoly in Derby Line, VT. He was on the Derby Line Ambulance Service for 30 years, the Derby Line Fire Department for 35 years and Instructor for Hunter Safety for 40 years. He loved to hunt and fish. His family was the love of his life and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Dawn Bowen of Derby Line, VT, by his two sons: Troy Bowen and his wife Darlene and Tracy Bowen and his wife Kim. He is also survived by his mother Irma Bowen by his grandsons: Brandon and Joshua Bowen, by his granddaughter Emma Bowen and by his great granddaughter Brookelyn Bowen, by his step grandchildren: Darwin D and Becca Dingman, Jason and Michelle Dagesse, Darian and Samantha Stewart, by his siblings: Joyce McDonald, Terry Lumbra and her husband Deforest, Raymond Bowen and his wife Denise, by his brother-in-law Oscar Roberts, and by Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by his father Arland J. Bowen, Sr in 1975.
