Wayne formerly was employed by Ethan Allen MFG of Island Pond. He was a member of Brighton Baptist Church in Island Pond. He loved to read his bible, going to church and singing in the choir. He enjoyed helping people in need. He is survived by his brother Rev. Roland "Butch" Barney and his wife Jocelyne of Island Pond, VT, by his two sisters: Wanda Ovitt and her husband Alan of Lithia Springs, GA, and Goldie Buffi of Brownington, VT, and by his nieces and nephews: Bernard Barney of Hartford, CT, Cynthia Bowen of Dalton, GA, Terrie Ann Walker of Simi Valley, CA, Robert Leigh of Carrolton, GA, Shawnda O'Keefe and her husband Roger of Ferdinand, VT, Frankie Lee Buffi of Brownington, VT, Lance Buffi of Brownington, VT, and by a great nephew Jacob O'Keefe of Ferdinand, VT and by 5 other great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Leon Barney and his brother-in-law Frank Buffi. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday May 5, 2012 at the Brighton Baptist Church in Island Pond with the Pastor Roland Barney and Rev. Alan Ovitt co-officiating. Marilyn was employed by Columbia Forest Products where she retired in 2000 after 38 years of service. She enjoyed NASCAR, and baseball as she was an avid red sox fan. She is survived by her sister Sheila Joyal of South Burlington, VT, by her life long friend Helen Corliss of Island Pond, VT, and by sister-in-laws Rachel Page and Gabriel Page and by several nieces and nephews. , 85, of Glover passed away May 25, 2012 in Newport, VT. She was born October 2, 1926 in Glover, VT a daughter of Leslie and Bernice (Davis) Clark. On July 11, 1948 she married Donald Wheatley who survives her. She graduated from the University of Vermont with a Batchelor of Science Degree. Mrs. Wheatley was a teacher at the Glen Carlyn School and the Arlington, Virginia School System. She was a member of the Glover Community Church and she was an ordained deacon of the Southern Baptist Church in Arlington, VA. Among her hobbies she enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking and attending family gatherings. Mrs. Wheatley was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Barton, VT, the retired teacher's association and windjamming cruises. She is survived by her husband Donald Wheatley of Glover, VT, by her children: Kathleen Wheatley and her husband Steve McHenry of San Diego, California, and Clark Wheatley and his wife Heather of Weston, Fla, by her grandchildren: Sarah, Loretta, Hillary, Caitlin, Davis, Cameron, Jenna, and Margaret and by her great grandchildren: Ariel, Addie, Hannah, and John. Ellen Ruth (Stone) Hommel

, 90, of Orleans died on May 25, 2012, at Derby Green in Derby surrounded by the caring staff and her loving family. She was born on July 24, 1921, in Orleans, Vermont, the second daughter of George Harrington Stone, II and Ella Almeida Allard Stone. She married J.G. Desmond Hommel on June 16, 1940 from whom she was later divorced and who predeceased her in February 1979. Mrs. Hommel graduated from Orleans High School in the Class of 1938 and subsequently had to assist her mother in raising her four younger siblings after the death of her father shortly after her graduation. She then started working for Bray Wood Heel Company as office staff person later in 1938. After a few years, she started her accounting career with Amico in Orleans, concurrently working for the Orleans High School in their business office. In 1954, Mrs. Hommel commenced her long time career with Ethan Allen, Inc. where she held her position as Plant Accountant for the next 44 years until her retirement in 1998. In her retirement years, and before, Mrs. Hommel enjoyed traveling with her family and friends, visiting such locations as Colorado, Texas, New Hampshire, Mississippi, Maine, Florida, St. Maarten, Virginia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York, Washington D.C. to enjoy local landmarks, museums, local attractions and more! She liked taking day trips with her friends to golf, see summer playhouse productions, or just enjoy a luncheon out at local restaurants. She was a supporter of the Orleans Country Club where she was the Clerk for many years as well as organizer for State Days. She spent much time golfing with friends and her two grandsons. Mrs. Hommel spent an enormous amount of quality time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings and cousins - she thoroughly enjoyed participating in family events and family adventures, as well as watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and participate in all their different activities. She enjoyed time spent throughout her lifetime at her family's camp on Echo Lake, fishing, swimming, watching the ducks, skating, canoeing and summer barbeques. Her and her sisters would enjoy winters cross-country skiing from Orleans to Barton where they would enjoy lunch and a glass of wine to celebrate yet another successful trek well into their 60's and 70's! In her younger years, Mrs. Hommel had a go at horseback riding and her love of horses and other animals carried her through her retirement years as she enjoyed spending time with her four-legged and fuzzy "grandchildren." Mrs. Hommel is survived by: her sister, Glenn A. (Stone) Dow and her husband, Arthur, of Newport, VT; her daughter Barbara E. Mason of Morgan; and her son Richard D. Hommel and his wife, Alida, of Whitinsville, MA. She is survived by her grandchildren: Kristin E. Mason and her partner, Ron Roberge, of Morgan, Korey A. Mason and his wife, Amy, of Williamsburg, VA, Richard C. Hommel and his wife, Lisa, of Waterbury Center, VT, and Tracy L. (Hommel) Ferreira and her husband, David, of Milford, MA. She is survived by great-grandchildren: Lindsay and Ryan Mason of Williamsburg, VA; RJ Hommel, Samantha and Eli Winters of Waterbury Center, VT; and Carly and Jake Ferreira of Milford, MA. Mrs. Hommel is also survived by her very special niece and nephews in Washington, Texas, Virginia and Vermont. She was predeceased by her parents, George Harrington Stone, II and Ella Almeida Allard Stone; her sister Beryl Macdonald, her sister Virginia Gregory, her sister Norine Marsh, her brother A. Allyn Stone, her brother George H. Stone, her granddaughter Kimberly Mason and her beloved son-in-law Kenneth A. Mason. A graveside service will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Orleans on Saturday, June 30th, 2012 at 11 a.m.

, 29, of East Charleston died suddenly on May 27, 2012 in Newport, VT. He was born on November 27, 1982 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He graduated from North Country Union High School in the class of 2001 and later completed an electrical journeyman course and became a licensed electrician. Andy enjoyed building things, tinkering around the house and played soccer during his school years. Andru will be missed more than the heart can bear by his parents: Debi and Neil Mead, by his precious daughter Rabecka, sharing in profound grief are his brothers and their families: James, Philip and Bo Johnson, his maternal grandparents: Brenda and Bob Thomas, his step brothers: Christopher and Joseph Mead and by his nieces and nephews: Kaydence and Blane Johnson, Lauren, Jacqueline, Caroline, Joey, and Owen Mead. , passed away on May 29, 2012 in Glover, VT. Jerry was a resident of Union House Nursing Home in Glover, VT for the past four months. He died peacefully with friends at his side. Jerry was born in St. Johnsbury, VT in 1918 son of Fred and Ruth (Wheeler) LeMoine. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served on the USS Massachusetts unitl he was wounded and was honorably discharged in October of 1945. He worked in New Haven, CT at the Winchester Repeating Arms and the also at Goodyear Tire. He also worked as a maintenance and painting contractor at Jay Peak and for Francis McDowell painting contractor in St. Johnsbury, VT. Jerry married Charlotte Hall who predeceased him. They had two sons: Forrest and Bradley. Jerry married Carol on October 1, 1992 the love of his life, so he used to say. Jerry and Carol took many trips to Wells, Maine. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, his friends and rides in the country. He loved making people laugh especially his caregiver Bonnie. Jerry leaves his wife Carol, his sons: Forrest LeMoine and his wife Melanie of Shelburne, VT, and Bradley LeMoine and his friend Debbie Lawrence of Greensboro, VT, by his step children: Joe Hall of Waltham, MA, Ginny Perry and her husband Wilfred of Brownington, VT, Jon and Jane Hall of PA, and Beatrice and Bill Boyden of Townsend, MA, by his grandchildren: Jeremy LeMoine and Lucas and wife Rose of Fla, Marisha of Shelburne, VT, Lilly, Bailey and Zoe of Brownington, VT, Aislin, Elisabeth and Riley of Townsend, MA, Tref Hall of Marion, PA, Ceilidgh, and Devany of MA, and a very dear friend and care giver Bonnie Young. On June 11, 1955 he married Mary Brainard who survives him. Mr. Cargill served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. In 1959 he married Cecile LaFlamme who survives him. David worked for Columbia Forest Products in Newport from 1969 and retired in 1996. He was involved greatly in bringing the computer age to Columbia Forest Products both in the office and in the manufacturing area. David enjoyed spending time with his family at his camp in Maine and collecting and trading antiques. Mr. Provencher was a member of the ELKS, Fostoira Glass Society, Memphremagog, Greenwood, Maine, and Gorham, New Hampshire Historical Societies. On May 20, 1940 she married Harvey Beauchesne who predeceased her March 20, 2008. Mrs. Beauchesne was devoted her family. She loved the outdoors, gardening, snowmobiling, fishing, hiking, and especially loved to spoil her grandchildren. She held membership with the Snow Drifters Snowmobile Club, Derby fish and Game Club and a she was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church. She is survived by her children: Donald H. Beauchesne and his wife Penny of Hopkinton, NH, and Dennis R. Beauchesne and his wife Anita of Derby, VT and by her grandchildren: Mark, Jason, Briana, and Raymond Beauchesne, Erin Moreira, Regan Viane, Norman, Andre, and Louise Fortin and by Joanne St. Onge and by 19 great grandchildren and by her brother Andre Guillette and his wife Julie of Derby, VT and by several nieces and nephews. Clara Belle (Rogers) Domina Rowland

passed away on May 16, 2012 in Newport, VT. Born August 31, 1922 in Wheelock, Vermont, the third of four daughters to Olaff and Grace Bartlett Rogers. Clara attended schools in Greensboro and Greensboro Bend and graduated from Greensboro High School as Valedictorian of her class. She was stricken with Polio at the age of four which affected both legs. With numerous surgeries and the help of a loving, understanding and supporting family, she was able to live a normal life; however, later in life the Polio returned as Post-Polio Syndrome which limited her daily activities. Attended Lyndon Normal School and graduated in 1943, the year Lyndon became a 4-year college. Her first position was in the primary grades in Glover, Vermont. She taught the first four grades and had twenty-eight students, a real challenge for a young beginning teacher. After two years, she transferred to the Campus School in Lyndon Center, a demonstration school for Lyndon State College. Here, she had three grades with thirty-three children. She then went to Orleans where she had one grade, but large classes. Except for four years in Newport, most of her teaching career was in Orleans. Clara enjoyed working with small children, although it was a demanding, challenging work, keeping up with active five and six year olds. She found their eagerness to learn very rewarding. In her teaching, she stressed attitudes of appreciation and respect. Some of her teaching units were published in the Vermont Course of Study. In 1960 she married Harold Domina but continued her teaching career. Harold died in 1984 but she continued living in their large home until she sold in 1987 and moved to Barton. Clara and Bradford Rowland married in 1988 and they enjoyed 14 happy years together. They traveled, bought a home in Florida, where they spent winters, returning to Vermont for the summers.

, 81, of Derby Line, VT passed away on May 12, 2012 in Newport, VT. He was born November 9, 1931 in Holland, VT a son of Louis and Anna (Fontaine) Fortin. On June 18, 1960 he married Jeannette Beauvais who survives him. Mr. Fortin was a machine operator for Columbia Forest Products in Newport for 38 years. He loved sugaring, fishing and working in the woods. He also loved family gatherings at the lake with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Jeannette Fortin of Derby Line, VT, by his children: Marcel Fortin and his wife Mary Kaye of Newport, VT, Gerald Fortin and his wife Christine of Newport Center, VT, and Julie Fortin of Newport, VT; by his grandchildren: Mark Fortin and his fiancé Samantha of Newport, VT, Jaclyn Fortin of West Lebanon, NH, Bridget Fortin of Newport, Sarah and Paige, Abigail and Shelby all of Newport Center, VT. He is also survived by a great grandson Braedyn, and by the following brothers and sister: Lionel Fortin and his wife Simone of Holland, VT, Rene Fortin and his wife May of Holland, VT, Raymond Fortin of Derby Line,VT, Robert Fortin and his wife Christine of Derby Line, VT, and Germain Gosselin and her husband Bill of Derby Line, VT, and by numerous nieces, nephews , cousins and friends. He was predeceased by a twin sister Lucienne in 2011, and by sisters Yvonne Lacroix and Rita Dagesse. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday May 16, 2012 at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Derby Line, VT where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. , of Orleans, Vermont passed away on May 11, 2012 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon, NH. He was born to George H. and Bernice (Allyn) Stone, Sr on April 6, 1927. Mr. Stone served in the U.S. Navy. Upon his discharge he was employed in the milling department at Litton Industry which is now known as Tivoly, Inc. Then he was employed at the Orleans Postal Service as a postal clerk until he retired. He was a past Master and 60 year member of Valley Lodge 106 Free & Accepted Masons; he was also secretary and treasurer for the lodge for many years. He was a Past High Priest of Keystone Chapter # 16 of Royal Arch Masons of Barton and for many years its secretary and treasurer. In 1974, George was accorded the high honor of election as the Most Excellent Grand High Priest of Royal Arch Masons of the State of Vermont. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, North Star Chapter # 25 of Island Pond. He was a member of the Orleans Council # 19 Royal & Select Masters of Newport and a member of the Malta Commandery # 10, Knights Templar of Newport. George was one of the founders of the Past Master Association of District # 10 of F. & A.M. He was also a member of the Charleston Historical Society of Charleston, Vermont. Mr. Stone loved to spend time at his camp and he enjoyed being on the lake. He also enjoyed sharing his ducks and chipmunks with those who visited him. He enjoyed visiting with his family and friends sharing life to the fullest. He is survived by his sisters Ellen Hommel of Orleans, Vermont and Glenn Dow and her husband Arthur of Newport, Vermont. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by three sisters Beryl MacDonald, Virginia Gregory, and Norine Marsh and her husband William and by one brother A. Allyn Stone. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday May 25, 2012 at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Road, Newport. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday May 25, 2012 from Noon until the hour of the funeral. Members of the Eastern Star will conduct a service at the funeral home on Friday May 25, 2012 at 1:30 P.M. Interment will follow in Pleasantview Cemetery in Orleans with full military honors and Masonic services.
