Jane Chouinard Davis
....show - Jane, 65, died at her home in Albany Sunday, July 29, 2012, in the loving care of her family, following a valiant battle with cancer. She was born in Newport, February 17, 1947, the youngest daughter of Gerard and Aldea (Gendron) Chouinard. She was a 1965 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Newport and a 1969 graduate from Trinity College in Burlington receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a minor in Elementary Education. On December 21, 1968, she married Terrrence “Terry” Davis. They made their home in Newport until they built their home on Lake Hosmer in Albany in 1980.Jane taught at several schools in the area, including Sacred Heart, Newport City, Coventry, and Newport Center but mostly in Albany teaching grade 4 from 1996–2004. She had also been employed for 2 years, 1985-1987, as the Head Teacher – Acting Principal for grades K-6 at the Albany Schools. She was a member of the Albany PTC for 15 years, served on the Vermont Council of UVM Members for 6 years, served as the Orleans County Girl Scout Cookie Chairman in 1976-77, Cadette Leader from 1978-79, was a member of the North Country Hospital Auxiliary and the Orleans County Home Dem. Club from 1971–1980. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and also a member of the St. John of the Cross Church in East Albany and St. Mary’s Church in Newport.Jane enjoyed gardening, cross country skiing, cooking, traveling, reading and her pets, Matilda and Scarlett. But mostly, she enjoyed time with her family, especially her four grandsons, whom she adored. She leaves a daughter, Jessica and husband Adam Trevits, and a son, Jonathan Davis and wife Lindsay all of Albany; four grandsons: Connor and Nicholas Trevits and Asa and Elijah Davis; three sisters: Geraldine Galpeau and husband Reynold of Pittsfield, MA; Rosemarie Allard and husband John of Oakridge, TN; and Monica Chouinard and companion Maurice Cote of Derby; two brothers-in-law: Richard Davis and Blaine Davis and his wife Mary, all of Albany, as well as nieces, nephews, and many extended family and friends, including her special companion, John Adams III of Enosburg, VT. She was predeceased by her husband, Terry Davis, parents Gerard Chouinard and Aldea Gendron Chouinard Patenaude, and her parents-in-law Dr. Everett and Isabelle Davis. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 3, 2012 at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newport. There will be no visitation. The graveside service in Albany Village Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family. Please join the family for a luncheon and celebration of memories following the funeral. ....show - August 5, 1940-July 22, 2012 Brian Albert Goulet, 71, passed away suddenly in a tragic accident on July 22, 2012, while working on his beloved farm. He was born August 5, 1940 in Vermont to Albert Joseph Goulet and Beatrice Nugent Goulet and was raised in Island Pond, Vt. Brian graduated from Brighton High School in Island Pond, served in the U.S. Army and, shortly after being discharged from the military, he met the love of his life, Judith Flow. Brian married Judith on July 7, 1962; they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Vermont with family.Brian and his wife moved from Vermont to Alexandia, Virginia where he started his career in automobile sales and quickly became the general sales manager for Koons Ford. Later he joined his father-in-law in the heating and air conditioning business. Brian became the president of M.E. Flow and expanded the business from Alexandria to Leesburg and Winchester, Virginia. Son, Scott, and daughter, Michelle, joined Brian to create a very successful business. A friend once said that Brian "walked the walk" without anyone dictating to him what he "must do." He simply "did it" by living his life and running his business in such an admiral way.Brian was a beloved member of the communities of Leesburg, Virginia and Island Pond, Vermont. Brian was active with the Leesburg Lions Club, the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, Interfaith Relief, and other charities in Virginia and Vermont. He was generous and always gave back to his community. Brian never forgot his Vermont heritage. He always wanted to be home around his family, friends, horses, dogs, and farm. He was especially proud of his grandkids and attended many of the games and events in which they participated. Brian was generous, cheerful, and funny with a charismatic personality.Brian is survived by his wife, Judith D. Goulet, son Scott B. Goulet and his wife Teri Goulet, grandchildren Michael, Ben and Krista Goulet of Hamilton, Virginia, daughter Michelle Goulet-Swart and husband Frankie Swart, granddaughter Amanda Swart of Hamilton, sisters Bonnie Goulet Maurycy of Niskayuna, NY, Claire Goulet Barnes of Island Pond, brothers Craig and Albert Goulet of Island Pond, and Aunt Roberta Harvey of Manchester, NH.Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church in Leesburg, Virginia. Russell Lee Cook, Sr.
....show - October 10, 1949-June 18, 2012 Russell L. Cook, Sr., 62, passed away June 18, 2012 in Florida with his family by his side from complications of cancer. Russell was born October 10, 1949 in Barton, Vt. to Charles Burt and Lorraine (Wheeler) Cook. He attended Glover Graded and Barton Graded School and graduated from Enfield High in Connecticut. After graduation Russell enlisted in the United States Navy and served honorably for four years. After returning home from Vietnam he became an electrical apprentice under his father's tutalage. Russell was a journeyman electrician until he retired for health reasons in 2009. Russell married Ruby Wood of Island Pond in June 1976. Russell and Ruby relocated to Bradenton, FL in 1978. Russell and Ruby had two sons, Jamie and Russell Jr. Russell was very active in his sons’ lives. He coached his sons' teams for many years in soccer and baseball. Russell held leadership positions and even refereed youth soccer. This support continued with his grandchildren which he attended and cheered at countless recreational league basketball games. Later in life Russell was active with organizations such as the Moose Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars , and the American Legion. Russell devoted countless hours at American Legion Post #312 in Oneco, FL. He was proud to wear many hats for the American Legion. He could be found helping in the office, kitchen, calling bingo, or organizing various charity events, and was honored to have been a past commander for the American Legion. Russell was survived by two sons Jamie Cook and his wife Cristi of North Port, FL; Russell Cook Jr. and his wife Crystal of Fort Walton Beach, FL; five grandchildren: Connor, Emily, Ben, Ayden, and William; his mother, Lorraine Cook Carter of Newport, VT; two brothers: David and Larry Cook; two sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Cook and Linda Cook; an aunt, Wilma Devost; an uncle Wayne Wheeler, and close cousins Chuck Cook and Diane Parenteau, along with nieces Kristine, Jodie and Kim, and nephew Lance.He was predeceased by his father Charles Burt Cook of Greensboro and step-father Richard Carter of Albany. A graveside service with full military honors will be held Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Westlook Cemetery in Glover, VT. Louise was born in Lawrence on February 24, 1940 and was the daughter of the late Albert Uliano and daughter of Emma (Borrelli) Uliano of North Andover, and was the wife of 53 years to Richard E. Manzi Sr. of Methuen. She was educated in Lawrence Schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School class of 1957 and went on to Boston Dispensary School for a degree as a Laboratory Technician.Louise worked for many years for the City of Lowell at the Water Treatment Plant and later worked at University of Mass Lowell in the science department. She was known for her cooking, her great gardening ability, and would love time by the lake with family and friends. While she lived in Vermont she was very active in water conservation and served on the water conservation commission on Lake Memphremagog, VT, she was also an avid Red Sox fan. But most of all her love and passion were her children and grandchildren and her one and only great-grandson was very important to her. She was also a big supporter of all their activities.Besides her husband, Louise is survived by her daughters: Paula Jean Manzi and Vincent Vanluvender of West Charlestown, VT; Lauri Ann Thompson and her husband Daniel J. of Pelham, NH; her son Richard E. Manzi Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Plymouth, NH; sisters: Jean Abel and her husband Richard of Newburyport; Paula Travers and her husband Joseph of Bradford; and Christine Parks of North Andover; her 10 grandchildren: Morgan, Matthew, Mason Manzi and Abigale Vanluvender, Jaclyne Ainlay, Alyssa Dauer, Richard E. He attended Orleans Elementary School, graduated from Lake Region Union High School in 1998 where he stood out as a cross country skier, and attended the University of Alaska at Anchorage. He received an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts from the Arts Institute of Fort Lauderdale in 2008.After living in the Northeast Kingdom, Anchorage, AK, and Boston, MA, Jim settled in Fort Lauderdale where he was owner of PassionFood, a private chef and catering company. He loved antiques, yoga, scuba diving, and standup paddle boarding.He will be greatly missed by his parents Joanie and Larry Austin of Orleans; his siblings: Bobby Raftery of Brattleboro, VT; Derek Austin and his wife Jenn of Chesapeake, VA; Kathryn Raftery of Culpeper, VA; and Chesley Austin and her partner James Peverill of Canton, MA; his partner of seven years, Michael Lenihan of Fort Lauderdale; his grandparents, Lois and Warren Austin of Orleans, VT; his aunts, Karen Bennett and Ann Austin of Orleans; and his baby nieces, Chessa and Riley Austin of Chesapeake. Up until then, he had been living in Port Charlotte, Florida where he and his perfect match (Marcella, whom he married 66 years ago) have been enjoying retirement for 32 years. He passed without much discomfort after dealing with failing health for the last few years. This comfortable home was their pride and joy; with beautiful gardens, fruit trees and vegetables that the neighbors envied for many years.
