....show - September 5, 1939-September 21, 2012, Theodore “Ted” J. Quintin, 73, of Montgomery Center, VT passed away on September 21, 2012 at his home. He was born September 5, 1939 in Houlton, Maine, the son of Romeo and Hilda (Norway) Quintin. Ted graduated from Sacred Heart High School, class of 1957 and attended Norwich University. Ted was honorably discharged as a reserve commissioned officer of the army. He was owner and operator of Granny Grunts, Grampa Grunts Lodge, Grannys II Restaurant, and the Thirsty Boot Bar; and was a pillar of the community in Montgomery Center for 40 years. He was a member of the Jay Peak American Legion Post 28, and he was the first paid ski patroller at Jay Peak. He loved the action of playing cards especially bridge, Texas Hold'em, and craps. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his children: Jay Quintin and his girlfriend Wara Cerretti of Lake Tahoe, CA; Brad Quintin and his wife Greta of Montgomery Center, VT; Karie Quintin and her boyfriend Travis Startwell of Montgomery Center, VT; by his grandchildren: Brody, Kayden, and Mason Quintin; by his sister Carol Ann Temple and her companion Wayne Blake of Newport Center, VT; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Pauline Dubois. ....show - July 12, 1920-September 15, 2012, Barrett Skoll, 92, of Huntington, WV passed away September 15, 2012 in Lexington, KY. He was born on July 12, 1920 in Newport, VT, son of the late Oscar and Celia Skoll. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Elaine Rose Skoll and his sister, Sera Skoll. He joined the Marines in January 1942. He was a Sergeant in the tank battalion of the 4th Marine Division Company C. He saw action in the Pacific including Iwo Jima. After the war, he came to Huntington and started the business Veterans Auto Supply with his cousin Marshall Cohen. He was an avid golfer and had numerous holes-in-ones. He played with the same foursome every Thursday afternoon for many years. He was an active member of the B’NAI Sholom Congregation. He is survived by two daughters: Diane (John) Sensenig of Lexington, KY and Ronda (Ernie) White of Hatfield, PA; six grandchildren: Scott Sensenig of Providencetown, MA; Kristina Sensenig of Lexington, KY; Wendy Hawkins of Sulphur, KY; Joseph (JC) Hill of Lansdale, PA; Monica (Moni) White of Clermont, FL; eight great-grandchildren: Joseph (LJ) Hill, Loren Marie Hill, Robert (Bobby) Hill, Ashley Simmonds, Renee Simmonds, Natalie Simmonds, Samantha Zimmer, and William (Will) Zimmer who shared the same birthday and his passion for golf. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 by Rabbi Jean Eglinton at Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV, followed by a reception at the B’NAI Sholom Congregation. He was the son of Russel Alfred Benway and Hazel Watson Benway. He worked on construction for many years and was the Road Commissioner for the Town of Glover for over 20 years. He loved his horses and his faithful dog, Emma. Also two granddaughters: Jennifer and her husband Jeremy LeBlanc of North Troy, VT and Andrea Webster of Glover, VT. He also leaves a special neighbor who was like a daughter to him, Mary Christiansen, her husband Johan and their son Wyatt.He was predeceased by his two sons: Alfred and Owen, his brothers: Bob and Wayne, and his sisters: Mertha Simpson, Dora Prue, and Betty King.There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, September 22 at 1 p.m. at his home on Dexter Mountain in Glover with a pot luck lunch to follow. Duane I. Wilson
....show - November 9, 1920- November 18, 2011 Duane was born November 9, 1920 in Westmore, Vermont as the youngest son of Isaac Allen Wilson and Ina Elizabeth (Hinton) Wilson. He spent his early years in Island Pond, Vermont and Hartford, Connecticut. He graduated from Bulkeley High School in 1937 and from Trinity College in 1949 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in General Science. Duane served in World War II in the U.S. Army's 156th Battalion from 1942 to 1943. He married Helen Henrickson of Granby, Connecticut in April of 1943 and their beloved son Keith was born in March of 1949. Duane began his early career in management with the Roerig division of Charles Pfizer in Boston and Chicago and then with Lloyd Brothers (Hoechst Pharmaceutical) in Michigan. In 1963 he went on to establish and run an executive search and career coaching firm in Michigan entitled Duane I. Wilson Associates. Finally, he established another company, VERITAS: Truth in Capabilities, which was a background verification company from which he never seemed to actually retire.Duane experienced profound sadness in this life with the loss of his first wife Helen in 1985 and the death of his dear son Keith in 2000. Duane was the last of his siblings, 10 in all, to pass away. Duane remarried in April of 1995 to Ellen Clarke. Duane and Ellen had known each other since working together at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in Chicago. Duane was a resident of Troy, Michigan from 1961 until his death. He and Ellen split their time between Michigan, Southern California and Vermont until his health failed. Duane leaves behind his wife Ellen of Laguna Woods, California as well as his nephews John Wilson of Del Mar, California and Earl Wilson of Connecticut. Duane had a keen mind and many interests. He held several patents for inventions, belonged to many organizations and was an avid writer. He loved to golf, bowl and was a professional horseshoe pitcher. He enjoyed stamp collecting and joined a stamp collecting club in his later years. He was always researching current events with his computer and belonged to a computer club in California as well. Duane was active in Masonic organizations as a member of Corinthian Lodge #241, King Cyrus Chapter #133 Royal Arch Masons (serving as High Priest in 1979), Detroit Commandery #1 Knights Templar, Monroe Council #1 Royal Select Masters, and Detroit York Rite College #1. He was a former member of the Detroit Concert Band and Masonic Temple Association in Detroit. Duane was an active Rotarian and a member of the Bloomfield Hills Rotary Club and its Board of Directors. He was a member of the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Independent Business.Finally, Duane liked people and people liked Duane. He was a wondrous storyteller with an imagination as big as a child's. He had a deep and abiding faith that sustained him in times of deep sorrow of which he surely did experience. Though successful in business, his most profound success is his legacy of love and care. Duane passed away on November 18, 2011 at home with his wife Ellen in Laguna Woods, California.Interment is at Hillside Cemetery in East Charleston, Vermont.

....show - April 9, 1934 - August 30, 2012 Mrs. Anita Marie Pizza passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2012 in Marianna at the age of 78.She was survived by seven sisters, three sons, four grandsons and Jack, her husband of 55 years. Jack is USAF retired from Tyndall AFB, FL. Anita and Jack lived in Panama City, FL from 1968 until 2006 when they moved to Marianna, FL. Anita was a world class musician, having performed at private occasions for many notables, including President John F. Kennedy, and the King of Saudi Arabia. She has also performed at the Vatican in Rome. She has performed both free and paid performances in Bay County, including concerts in the Downtown Park and at the Martin Theatre. Anita’s jazz trio was famed on Cape Cod for 5 years. She was considered a budding star in both New York City and Los Angeles as a solo jazz and Pianist and Vocalist. She was invited to compete for the Miss America Contest in Vermont, but that was declined by her parents for religious reasons. She, as a volunteer, formed and then directed the choir at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Panama City for 25 years.Anita’s funeral service was held at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 3, 2012 with Father George Sammut officiating. Interment followed at 1 p.m. in the Cavalry Cemetery, a Catholic cemetery in Sunny Hill, FL where she elected to be buried.
