, 58, of Westfield, VT, beloved husband of Debora and father of Danielle passed away in Newport, VT on February 3, 2012. He was born in New Haven, CT on July 2, 1953. Harold spent most of his life in Connecticut, before moving to Vermont with his wife in 1991. He was a former employee of the Hospital of St. Raphael for over ten years and he also worked as a real estate agent for several years. He graduated from the University of New Haven and he was a past member of the Marchegiana Club. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and caring for his horse Ben. Harold and Debora loved to travel, most memorable was their time spent in Alaska. He also enjoyed taking his daughter fishing. He owned and operated Gabucci Rubbish Removal and he always enjoyed friendly visits with his customers as he went about his daily runs. He is survived by his wife Debora Gabucci and by his daughter Danielle Gabucci of Westfield, VT, his parents Harold and Terese Gabucci, Sr of Northford, CT, by his brother Mark Gabucci and his wife Joanne, by his sister Gina Gabucci and her partner Nancy Gierwielaniec, by his mother-in-law Averil DeMichael, by his sister-in-law Sharon Lynn, by his brother-in-law Steven DeMichael and by several nieces and nephews. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Newport Center, VT. Lucky was a self employed construction truck driver, dairy farmer and logger. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. His hobbies included Party Poker, NASCAR his favorite being Dale Earnhardt, wintering in Florida in their RV, camping, snowmobiling, and spending time with his dog Abby and his cats Lily and Hemi. He also enjoyed his 1970 Plymouth Road Runner. He held memberships with the American Legion Post 23 of Orleans, VT and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7779 of Hyde Park, VT. , 88, of Newport Center passed away on February 6, 2012 in Newport. She was born on November 4, 1923 in Newport Center a daughter of Henry and Margaret (Mason) Collins. On February 12, 1941 she married Clarence Hill who predeceased her in 2006. Anita retired in 1985 after working as a cook at the Bel-Aire Nursing Home for 19 years. Her hobbies included making quilts, painting, doing jig saw puzzles, going to yard sales and caring for her Great Dane dogs, in the past, which she truly loved. Anita was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends. She is survived by her two sons: Gilbert Hill and his wife Linda of Lowell and Richard Hill and his wife Claudette of Newport Center, six grandchildren: Susan LeBlanc, Barbara Hill and her companion Scott Gray, Lisa Pion and husband Frances, Mary Hill, Erin Oeschger and her husband Scott, and Michael Hill, 15 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, predeceased by her husband Clarence Hill, and by three brothers and three sister. , May 3, 1918 - February 6, 2012, Marjorie Ella Noe Rossier Burdick, of Orleans, died peacefully in Glover Monday evening, February 6, 2012. Born May 3, 1918 in North Derby (what is now East Main Street, in Newport), she was the middle child of Henry and Lucinda (Kinney) Noe. She attended schools in Orleans and decided not to attend high school, so her mother had her take the eighth grade over again, a common educational practice of the time. Marjorie's first husband was Bernard L. Rossier, Sr. He was hurt in a severe accident at the Anderson Manufacturing Company in Orleans, and was hospitalized for the rest of his life. She then married Willard "Gus" S. Burdick, who died February 12, 1984. Throughout her life, Marjorie enjoyed various clubs and activities in and around Orleans. She belonged to the Pythians, the Christmas Club, the bowling league (winning many trophies), and she was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary of Post 23 in Orleans, a job she held a few times. One of her most favorite activities was bingo. She enjoyed it and played the game all over Orleans County, as well as games at the Union House in Glover. Baptized an Episcopalian, Marjorie belonged to the St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Newport, as well as the Orleans Federated Church. She is survived by her two sons Everett "Nick" and his wife Cora Ann of Albany and Lawrence and his wife Gertrude of Orleans. She also leaves daughters-in-law Eileen of Myerstown, PA; Susan of Brownington Center; and Tracey of Derby. Additionally, she leaves seventeen grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and both of her husbands, Marjorie was proceeded in death by daughters Christine and Patricia, and sons Bernard, Edwin, and Terrence "Terry," two grandchildren, her big sister Dorothy, and her little sister Stella. The family will receive friends at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, 4670 Darling Hill Rd., Newport on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be at the Orleans Federated Church, School St., Orleans, VT on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Harvey Bartlett officiating. On October 5, 1945 she married Max Marsh who predeceased her in 1980. Mrs. Marsh graduated from Unity High School in Unity, Maine in 1938. Her many hobbies included cooking, knitting, crocheting, working on puzzles and she was an avid cat lover. She is survived by her son Leroy Marsh of Hendersonville, Tenn, her daughter Faye Brunelle and her husband Stephen of Huntington, VT, two grandchildren Adam of Hendersonville, Tenn, and Max of Denver, Co, her nieces and nephew: Rae Rudisill of Gettsburg, PA, Brian Clifford of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla, Brenda Booton of Port Orange, Fla, and Rita Ashford of Maine. She was predeceased by a brother Robert Ashford, two sisters: Louise Lufkin and Evelyn Clifford and by her daughter-in-law Patricia Marsh. , 83, of Derby, Vermont, died peacefully February 8, 2012, in Newport, Vermont. Leo was born June 6, 1928, in Medford, MA, son of Leo Sr. and Annie Irene (Roach). He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Elizabeth Corrie Barrett. He resided in Gloucester, New Bedford, Milton and Newburyport, MA, and later in Wilmington, DE, before moving to Vermont. Leo was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in Alaska. Leo was an ordained Episcopal priest for 25 years, serving churches in Massachusetts and Delaware. In 1980, he moved to Vermont and owned the General Store of Barton. In 1983, he began working as an alcohol and drug counselor for Northeast Kingdom Human Services. Leo was an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Newport, Vermont. He loved boating and working with wood. Leo is survived by his wife, Corrie, of Derby, VT; by his children: Leo Barrett III of Delaware, Nancy Turner and her husband, David, of Delaware, Christopher Barrett and his wife, Betty, of Newport Center, VT, and Jonathan Barrett and his wife, Grace, of Delaware; by his grandchildren:Samantha, Matthew, Natalie, Audrey, and Beth Ann; and by his great-grandson, Matthew. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Elizabeth Cope and her husband, Joel, of Brighton, VT, and James Landolt and his wife, Bess, of Virginia; and by his stepgrandchildren: Alex, Sam, and Ben. : formerly of Newport, died at home on February 10, 2012 in Lyndonville, after battling cancer. Son of Raymond and Anna (Franz) Smith, he was born on August 21, 1927. He served for his country in the United States Navy from 1945-1946 and again from 1950-1953. Franz worked as a tradesman while attending college. He graduated from Lyndon State College in 1959. Following college, he worked as a schoolteacher from 1959 until his retirement in 1988. Franz taught his students as he lived his life, humorsome, methodical and caring. Besides college, his accomplishments included a lifelong membership in the American Legion, owning a garage and service station in Lyndonville, obtaining a license in real estate, acquiring a lifetime membership of the Vermont Vocational Teacher Association, and past Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He was an active member of the Football Association, the Lions Club, and the NRA. His pastimes included hunting, fishing, and boating. Franz enjoyed his time as a ski instructor, Vermont State Police Auxiliary Trooper, Orleans County Deputy Sheriff and member of the Newport Police Dept. He was preceded be his wife of 42 years, Jetta (Ramsey) Smith, daughter Toni Smith, two sisters Vivian Monahan and Delores Towle. Franz was an accomplished entrepreneur and a beloved family man. He is survived by his loving companion of 22 years, Beverly Tripp and family, son William Smith, daughter Jetta (Smith) Grant, 5 granddaughters and 9 great-grandchildren Graveside services will be held in the spring. On April 21, 1939 she married Leo F. McOsker who predeceased her. She graduated from Saltonstall High School in Salem, MA. Her hobbies included reading, knitting, and gardening. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Kevin, Coleen and Jennifer McOsker. She was predeceased by a son William McOsker and by two brothers Arthur and Francis Henshaw. Virginia Craft Powers Boudreau

, age 84, died February 13, 2012 in Lowell, VT. She was born July, 23, 1927 in Parsonsfield, Maine daughter of Noble J. and Ethel Warner Craft. Virginia was married to Archie E. Powers until his early death in 1985. Together they raised four children and enjoyed many grandchildren. Later she married Richard J. Boudreau of Florida, who died in 2010. They had returned to Vermont in 2005 to be closer to grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Over her lifetime she was involved in and interested in much, but she surely did shine as a teacher. After retirement, she put that same enthusiasm into genealogy and once again she helped others by researching endlessly. Her hard work is now housed in the historical society in Barre, VT. As her health declined, the family was able to provide private, professional care. Virginia's family members extend their heartfelt gratitude to both Debra Lamphere and her very supportive husband "Larz", who lovingly cared for Virginia during her illness. Virginia was pre-deceased by her parents and two husbands, Archie and Dick, as well as an infant son (1947). Also predeceasing Virginia were Rudy Craft (half-brother), and Brian Boudreau (step-son). She is survived by: her four adult children, Ethel Chase, Robert Powers, Eloise Vittum, and Nanette Bonneau, their spouses, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving Virginia are her brother, Noble Craft of California, half-sisters Cynthia Smith and Ruth Craft, step-daughters Janine and Nicole of Maine, and their families, as well as nieces and nephews. To honor her wishes, there will be no funeral service at this time. A memorial service will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery in Lowell, VT at the time of internment, which will be at a later date. Should friends desire, contributions in Virginia's memory may be made to the Lowell Mountain View Cemetery, as she stated often that the upkeep of headstones is vital to genealogical research.

, Jr 82, of Westfield, VT passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at his home with several of his family members present. He was born on December 28, 1929 in Westfield, VT a son of Clifton, Sr, and Florence (Hackett) Kennison. Junior graduated from Newport Center High School in 1949. He married Erlah St. Onge on December 23, 1950 who survives him. Junior was a past member of the Newport Elks and he was road commissioner for the Town of Westfield for over 30 years until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and conversing with his many friends in the area and he always did so with his wonderful sense of humor. He was a man who liked his work both for the Town and for his own construction business. Junior especially loved his family, their visits and the family gatherings at the pond. He is survived by his wife Erlah Kennison of Westfield, by his children: Deborah Murphy and her husband Michael, Dorothy Deslandes and her husband Russell, and Larry Kennison. , 85, of Barton died peacefully in Burlington, VT, on February 14, 2012. She was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec to Francois and Marguerite (Boucher) Bedard. On April 26, 1951 she married Rene E. Thibault who predeceased her in 1987. Helene lived in Barton for nearly 50 years. She took great pride in raising her children. Her favorite saying was "It is not what you have but who you are." In her younger years she was an avid downhill and cross country skier. She loved to read, listen to music and do puzzles. She encouraged her children to participate in sports and further their education, which they did. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother. She also loved to chat with friends on her daily walks to the C & C and the Post Office. Mr. Demers was a truck driver for Pike Industries for 30 plus years. In his earlier years he worked on several farms and the former Natole Motor Company. Phil enjoyed going to Short Stop for coffee with the boys and spending time with Alexis and Clarissa, his beloved grandchildren. He also liked to go bowling and he also plowed snow for Foster Whipple and several yards for himself. Phil was a member of the Eagles. He is survived by his children: Doug Demers and his wife Johanna and their children Alexis and Clarissa of Westfield, VT, and by his step daughter Tammy Gilfillan and her husband Ron of Holland, VT. He is also survived by his mother Norma Demers of Newport Center, VT, and by his step grandchildren: Jordan, Courtney, and Crystal and by a great grandson Cedar. , 61, of West Charleston passed away suddenly on February 25, 2012 in Newport. VT. He was born October 21, 1950 in Norwich, CT, a son of Arnold and Esther (Hemel) Beaudoin. On November 15, 1984 he married Shirley Baker who survives him. He enlisted in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. While in Korea he was a personal driver for the Post Commander. He also was in the color guard and was a pallbearer for President Lyndon B. Johnson’s funeral service. Mr. Hand was a maintenance man for Ethan Allen MFG in Orleans, VT and by Pine Knoll Nursing Home in Lyndonville, VT. He was also a mechanic for small engine repairs. His hobbies included camping, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved his Kubota Tractor and working on small engines. He is survived by his wife Shirley Hand of West Charleston, by his children: Tammy Hand and Arnold Hand both of Montreal, Quebec, by his step children: Allen Marsh and his companion Hope of Island Pond, VT, Mark Marsh Sr and his wife Linda of West Charleston, VT, Todd Marsh and his companion Patty Sargent of North Troy, VT, Christopher Marsh and his wife Ashley of Island Pond, VT, and by his daughter-in-laws Sherry Marsh of Newport, VT and Kristi Powers of Orleans, VT. He is survived by 19 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He had a special nickname for all his grandchildren. (95) passed away Tuesday, February 28th, in Newport, VT. She was born March 25, 1916 to Lee Allen and Alice (Carlson) Allen. She attended Shrewsbury, MA schools and continued her education at Wheelock College in Boston, MA. She operated her own kindergarten until she married Arthur Swenson on June 14, 1941. She was a school crossing guard for several years and also taught in the Head Start Program. Carolyn had a special love for children. She leaves her two sons, Clifford, and his wife, Joan, of Barton, VT and Alan of Shrewsbury, MA; two daughter-in-laws Dorothy of Salisbury, NH and Linda of Worcester, MA. She leaves six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. David and his wife, Tonya, and their two daughters, Annika and McKinley of S. Whitley, IN, Paul and his wife, Ellen, and their three sons, Samuel, Hazen, and Noah of Newport Center, VT, Linda Murray and her husband, Rob, of Grafton, MA, Thuri Swenson of Spencer, MA, Melissa Underhill and her three children, Brittany, Bryan, and Bradyn of Belmont, NH, and William Jr. and his two children, Michael and Jacoby of Salisbury, NH. She also leaves one nephew, Howard Allen of Shrewsbury, MA and one niece, Elizabeth Waterhouse of Windsor, CT. Carolyn was predeceased by her husband of 63 years in 2004, her son, William Sr. in 1993, her grandson, Eric in 1997 and two brothers, Dr. Roger Allen and Howard Allen. Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, jig saw puzzles, word finds and reading. She enjoyed time with her family and especially her great-grandchildren. During Arthur and Carolyn’s retirement years, they lived in Eastham on Cape Cod in a home that Arthur had built. She enjoyed walking the beach and watching the birds. She was a member of a knitting club. After Arthur’s death, she moved to Kingsbury Village in Derby, VT to be closer to family. She had some "special friends" in the 4 1/2 years in VT. , 86, beloved mother and grandmother died peacefully in her home in Lowell, VT on Wednesday February 29, 2012. She was born January 1, 1926 in Greenwich, CT. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Clarke of Lowell, by her granddaughters: Erin Dutton and her husband David of Irasburg, VT, Tara Clarke of Bennington, VT, and Keri Willey and her husband Ben of Lowell, VT and by several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband George and by her three sons James, George and Richard Clifford. Florence was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Parish in Lowell, VT and the Vermont Cursillo. She enjoyed a variety of crafts, particularly making Christmas ornaments and miniatures. She loved to watch birds and wildlife and reminisce of her days growing up on her island in CT. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday March 2, 2012 at St. Ignatius Catholic Parish in Lowell, VT with the Rev. of Island Pond, VT passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 29th, 2012 in Newport, VT surrounded by her loving family at the age of 83. She was born Alice Ruth Carr at the home of George and Clara (Langmaid) Carr on July 23rd, 1928 in Newark, Vt. Alice was 4th and last remaining of eight children. She married Archie Joseph Gillis on February 2, 1952. She was a loving mother of six children. Alice enjoyed reading, knitting, quilting and spending time traveling to various parts of the country visiting family with Archie. She also traveled to many exciting places with her friends from the Sunrise Manor. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Community Circle and volunteered for various organizations over the years. She enjoyed working at and retired from the Senior meals site in Island Pond. She was adored by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She is survived by three sons: David Gillis and wife Linda of Yuma, AZ, Brian Gillis of Island Pond, and Steve and Laura Gillis of Sterling AK. Two Daughters: Betty Biggs of Barre, VT, and Donna Chesney and her husband Roger of Island Pond, VT; 14 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. She was Predeceased by her husband Archie Gillis and their son Scott Allen Gillis, 4 Brothers: Alton, Earl, Merton and Robert Carr, and three sisters: Thelma Cutting, Florence Meyette and Elaine Carr. She is also survived by her many grandchildren: Vincenzo D'Auria Jr., Nikko D'Auria, Jessica Berry, Shane Greene, and Jeremy Greene of Vermont; Pellegrino D'Auria Jr., Michele D'Auria Jr., David D'Auria and Jessica D'Auria of Connecticut; Mia Scherber, Ava Scherber and Micah Scherber of New Hampshire; and Stephen Scherber, Meagan McDowell, Michael John and Devon John of Vermont. , 64, of Barton died Febuary 10, 2012, after a struggle with cancer. She was born September 19, 1947, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to Catherine and Joseph Mascia of Waterbury. Mrs. Vezina was a wonderful wife and mother. In 1983, She volunteered at Greenshire School in Cheshire, Connecticut, with children with special needs, then became a special education teacher for many years at Greenshire School. She then retired from the state of Connecticut and moved to her dream place, Vermont. She then met her husband Romeo Vezina of Barton. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to feed her birds, nature, old books and reading. She leaves behind her loving husband Romeo Vezina of Barton; and her five children and four grandchildren: Victoria Johnsbon of Woodbridge, Virginia, and her three children: Ashley Givens, Yasin Johnson, and Tianna Johnson; Richard Brochu of Waterbury; Donald Brochu of Walden; Theresa Bellerive and husband, Kevin, of Watertown, Connecticut; and Alice Magoon and her husband, Bob, of Walden and their son Corey. She also leaves behind her four stepchildren: Marie Breault of Glensfall, New York, John Vezina of Belleview, Florida, Debbie Vezina of Irasburg, and Douglas Vezina of Derby.

, 67, of Canton, New York, died on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, of heart failure, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. Mrs. Lawrence was born in Ballston Spa, New York, on June 14, 1944, a daughter of Erwin H. and Ruth N. (Melander) Miller. Her education began in Burnt Hills Elementary School in New York, and she graduated from Vestal Central High School in Vestal, New York, and received her bachelor's degree from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She worked for General Electric in Schenectady, New York, and Utica, New York, and worked part-time for the village of Canton. She was a licensed private pilot and she had her New York State small water plant license for the Woodmere Community Water System. Mrs. Lawrence married the love of her life, Kendall G. Lawrence of Albany, on September 16, 1972. Together they raised their incredible son Nathan and she deeply loved her daughter-in-law Sarah and beloved granddaughters Morgan and MacKenzie Lawrence. These have been the light of her life as devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She cherished living in Canton, New York, and raising her family in a community full of close friends with the same values and character that she held so dear. She loved her family, her wonderful dog, Dora Rose Lawrence, music, and she loved St. Lawrence hockey. She accompanied her husband to games, served at FFA fund-raisers, traveled on annual family vacations, hunting trips and to musical concerts. She treasured spending time with family and friends at their sugarhouse and at Black Lake. Mrs. Lawrence is also survived by a sister, Shirley (Jeff) Riley; by a brother, Alan (Darlene) Miller; by her sisters-in-law: Lorraine (Mel) Barlow and Cindy (Gordon Lougee) Lawrence; by her cousins: David, Delia, Wendy, Dan and Mike; and by several beloved nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all. A memorial service was held on February 18, in Canton. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be directed to Canton Rescue, Canton United Methodist Church, or the American Heart Association.

, formerly of East Charleston, died on February 13, 2012, after a long illness caused by cancer. She was born in 1942, a daughter of Anatole and Rita Trudeau of East Charleston. In her teenage years she worked at the East Charleston Country Store owned by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sloan, then went to work for several years at the Brown Company plant in North Stratford, New Hampshire. She married Jacques Marcoux in Derby Line. After her husband graduated in the pastoral field, they lived in Sherbrooke, Quebec, and Montreal, Quebec. She was a stay-at-home mom and is survived by her two children and her mother, Rita Trudeau, who is now 93 years old. She also has two brothers and five sisters all living in this country. She was predeceased by her father in 1990 and by a brother, John Paul, in 1956. Funeral services will be held on February 25, at eglise Le Portail in Laval, Quebec, at 3:30 p.m.
