....show , 89, died Saturday afternoon, March 31, 2012, at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Maker was born in Chichester, NH, on June 18, 1922, the daughter of Daniel and Bessie (Ingerson) Reed.
Raised in Chichester until 7 years old Katie then moved to Lancaster where she resided for the rest of her life. During her working years she was employed at Gilman Paper, Morse’s Lodge, and the Lancaster Diner. She dedicated her last 20 years of employment as a caregiver to senior citizens. Since 1989 she has been a resident of McKee Inn.
Surviving family members include 8 children, Wallace Maker of Windham, Catherine Maker of Littleton, Gloria Chase of Lancaster, Donna Trombley of Litchfield, Frank Maker of Jefferson, Bonnie Locke of Littleton, Candie Powell of Littleton, Ronnie Bryant of Nashua; her sister-in-law of 70 years, Irene Murphy; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Earl Maker Sr. in 1986; two sons, Earl Maker Jr., Daniel Maker; a daughter Roberta Beland; infant twins; a brother George Reed; and 2 sisters, Florence Dresser and Alice Sterling.
Visiting hours will be held Monday April 2, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM at the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster. Rev. Ron Bruce, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
Lancaster, NH- Richard Joseph Brisson Sr.
....show , 85, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. He was born in Lancaster, NH on December 12, 1926, a son to Kenneth E. Brisson and Ruth Merrow. He was pre deceased by his parents as well as a sister, Mary Smith of Lancaster and a brother, Kenneth E. Brisson Jr. also of Lancaster.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Navy who served in World War II in nearby Okinawa. Spring was a favorite season for Dick. It meant he could start planting his garden, mowing the lawn, and the start of Red Sox season. Dick had many passions in life including cooking, the latest technology and gadgets, vacationing in Maine with his family, Vegas vacations and a love for the outdoors. He had a fondness for old Western movies and TV shows and loved listening to the music of Jim Reeves, Hank Williams Jr., Daniel O’ Day, and many others. He also had a deep love for his pet dogs, Brittany and Abby.
Dick had numerous jobs in his life time. Some of them included- selling popcorn at the Rialto as a youngster; a photographer; mechanic; worker at Peter, Paul Mounds in Connecticut; worked for Raymond Bakery also in Connecticut; oil truck driver; a manager at Giant/Ames department stores; co-owner of Dick’s Fish Market; worked in the finishing room at James River Paper Company; grounds keeper at Santa’s Village and evening custodian at Coos County Court House.
He is survived by his former wife, Gloria (Davenport) Brisson; five sons, Richard (Ricky) Jr. and wife Denise of Lancaster; Kenneth (Kenny) and his wife Karen of Barrington, NH; Jeffrey and his wife Joanne of Charlton, NY; Randall of Belmont, NH.; Jeremy of Abington, Mass., and six daughters, Sharon and husband Edgar Cormier of Whitefield ; Judith Sheryl Watkins of Indialantic, Fl; Deborah and husband, Robert Hevey of East Hardwick, Vt; Tami and husband David Roy of Berlin, NH; Lori Goodwin of North Ft Myers, FL; and Erica of Northfield, NH. He also has 26 grandchildren and 26 great- grandchildren.
Per request of the deceased, there will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster.

DENNEHY, Jeanne
....show , 84, of Stark, New Hampshire and of Tampa, Florida, passed away on March 23, 2012. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Dennehy; parents Robert and Pearle MacFarland; and siblings Alfreda Ferguson and Richard MacFarland. She is survived by loving family and friends. She graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music. Although her first love was music, shortly after graduation she became a flight attendant. A few years later she began her long career until retirement in sales management with the Boston Globe, where she met the love of her life Joseph who was a Photographer. The residents of the Stark area will always remember Jeanne and Joseph's love for the conservation of land, community involvement, and of those delicious Dennehy Farm Strawberries.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 14 at 11:00 at Bailey Funeral Home, 210 Main Street, Lancaster. Interment will be in Emerson Road Cemetery, Stark.
Heinmuller, Douglass C.
....show of Lunenburg, VT and Baltimore, MD died on March 14, 2012 at Northeast Vermont Regional Hospital, St. Johnsbury of leukemia, at age 68. He was born in Baltimore, MD to parents Carl, Jr. and Carolyn Heinmuller, who predeceased him.
A 1961 graduate of the McDonogh School, McDonogh, MD, he served in US Army Intelligence in Germany, 1964-67. In 1977 he married Patty Windsor of Baltimore and they moved to Bethlehem, NH in 1978, where they had a son, Matthew. Doug founded a thriving business restoring fuel system components for antique and classic cars. He also provided carburetors to the US Army for the M48 tank. An avid railroad enthusiast, he enjoyed travelling the rails in New England in his Fairmont Motor Car. He also bought and sold antiques, collected railroad lanterns, and Lionel electric trains.
He had many friends who provided much caring and support during his illness. He is survived by his former wife Patty Breen of Littleton, NH, their son Matthew, of Lincoln, NH, and two brothers, David A. of Catonsville, MD and Dwight R. of Sparks, MD.

GROVETON – Milanie Dupuis
....show , 86, of 26 Main Street, died in the evening of Monday, March 12, 2012 at her home after a brief illness. Her loving husband Leon G. Dupuis and children were at her side. Born and raised in Berlin NH, her parents Roman and Elizabeth Litvin predeceased Milanie. She was born September 23, 1925. During and after high school she was an avid ice and roller skater. In earlier years, she and her husband skated and did ballroom dancing with their friends. She worked at New Hampshire’s grand hotels until she married. After marrying Leon, they settled in Groveton where she devoted her life to her husband of 61 years and five children.
She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church and a past member of the Daughters of Isabella. Milanie frequently volunteered her time to support various church events and activities.
Milanie’s life was spent as a homemaker. She loved to knit and crochet and was proud to make scarfs, and mittens for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was especially proud to make baby blankets for the baptisms of her great-grandchildren. Although she loved craftwork, playing family card games, and reading mysteries her greatest passions in life were travelling with her husband and family, and being with family as much as possible. She enjoyed attending all activities her children and grandchildren participated in; always making an effort to be there to support their endeavors.
The last few months of her life were spent with her husband and children. She frequently discussed her joy of life and fortune to have lived so long. She was a wonderful, caring and loving mother. Holidays were always special with the latest Christmas being a typical one bringing 23 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren home.
She will be remembered as being a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.
Also surviving are her son James and his wife Diane of Barrington, NH, son Daniel and his wife Wanda of Ocean City, Maryland, daughter Nancy and her husband Gilbert Major of Andover MA, son Gary and his wife Elena of Amherst MA, and son Peter and his wife Julie of Milford NH; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; her brother Robert Litvin of Berlin, sisters Elizabeth Forestall of Berlin and Mary Jewell of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. Her brothers William Litvin, Peter, John, Alexander, and Michael Kluchnick and sister Vera Barbin predeceased Milanie.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Saturday March 17 at 11 AM. Father Daniel Deveau will officiate. Visiting hours at Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster, NH will be held on Friday March 16 from 6:30 to 8:30. An internment service will be held at the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in the spring.

Whitefield- Walter F. “Bud” Eastman
....show , 93, passed away on Saturday March 10, 2012 at Country Village Genesis Eldercare. He was born in Whitefield on September 8, 1918 a son to the late Dana John and Lucy Ella (Henry) Eastman.
Mr. Eastman was raised in Jefferson and graduated from Jefferson High School. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the European Theatre. Mr. Eastman worked for the NH Liquor Commission as a store clerk for ten years and was at one time the Golf Pro at the Waumbek Country Club.
Mr. Eastman was a member of the VFW Post 3041 in Lancaster, the American Legion Post in Whitefield and North Star Lodge No. 8 F. & A.M where he was also a Past Master. One of the highlights of Bud’s life was being presented with the 2000 Mel Gallup Volunteer of The Year Award at Weeks Medical Center.
Mr. Eastman was predeceased by his wife Evelyn Irene Eastman and his five siblings. He is survived by two daughters, Toni Farnham of Lancaster, Tara Kilby of Manchester, a son Dana Eastman and his wife Monica of Lunenburg, VT, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by three stepsons: Danny Lufkin and his wife Sherri, Brad Lufkin and his wife Terri, David Lufkin and his wife Louise and one stepdaughter Kathy (Lufkin) Edney and her husband Chet; and their children and grandchildren.

Lunenburg, VT- On March 8, 2012, Quentin Peavey
....show passed away at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
He was born on February 1, 1933, a son to Ernest E. and Shirley (Colby) Peavey.
Quent was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked as a machinist at the Groveton Paper Mill for 27 years.
He loved to hunt and fish and extended this love to each member of his family. He also enjoyed working in his machine and wood workshop.
Quent is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary (Lamotte) Peavey along with two sons, Jeff Peavey and his wife Dana, Darren Peavey and his wife Debbie; three granddaughters Heather (Peavey) Pinsonneault and her husband Mark, Hannah D. Peavey and Gracie Lyn Peavey and a grandson Quentin D. Peavey.

LANCASTER - John Minichiello
....show , passed away on Tuesday February 21st, 2012.John was an avid fisherman, and a talented gardener. His giant pumpkins brought joy to communities throughout New England. A long time business man of the upmost integrity and generosity, he was beloved by his community.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Minichiello and his two daughters LeeAnn and Lara. He had a large family including his sister Joan, his late sister Mary Ann, brothers Bob and Paul, his cousin Diane and many nieces and nephews, and his best friend Hack. He will be remembered as a thoughtful and wise man with a great sense of humor, zest for knowledge and a very large giving heart. He will be dearly missed by those close to him and all who had the honor of knowing him.

LANCASTER – Lawrence S. Wright
....show , 91, died Saturday morning, February 18, 2012, at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Wright was born in Lunenburg, VT, on July 16, 1920, the son of Clayton E. and Leona V. (Carbee) Wright.
He was raised on the family farm in Lunenburg and resided there until moving to Lancaster in 1968. For his entire life he worked as a self employed logger and truck driver. During that time he also owned and operated his own trucking company. In his spare time he enjoyed going to his favorite stops to socialize over a cup of coffee.
Family members include his wife of 60 years, Mary L. (Brainard) Wright of Lancaster; three daughters, Deborah Dubois of Jefferson, Nancy McVetty of Dalton, Marcia Parkhurst of Columbia; two sisters, Dorothy Kulisek of Oregon, Muriel Cloos of Ohio; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer, Mark, Amy, Christopher, Eric, Phillip, Jeffrey, Ashlynn; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Jeffrey Wright; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, February 25, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A service will be held immediately after at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. A private burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery.
LANCASTER – Michael W. Beattie
....show , 68, died Friday morning February 17, 2012, in Lancaster at his brick house on Main Street.
Mr. Beattie was born on October 29, 1943, the son of Stanley J. Beattie and Addie E. (Hillier) Beattie.
Mike was a lifetime resident of Lancaster. He served as selectman for 18 years and was also a longtime member and Assistant Chief of the Lancaster Fire Department. He was a charter member of the Lancaster Snow Drifters where he served as chairman of the Snowmobile Grand Prix
and was Trail Master for 8 years. For many years he served on the Board of Directors at Siwooganock Bank.
He was a Communicant of All Saints Church, Lancaster.
In 1966 he started Beattie Enterprises which constituted several businesses including ownership of Riverside Speedway for 14 years. Other business included the startups of a Montgomery Ward Agency, the Lancaster Colonial Mart, the Detour Truck Stop, WLGW Radio Station and his long time running construction business. He also enjoyed hot rodding, hunting, snowmobiling, auto racing, and going to camp. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
Surviving family members include his wife Sally (McLaughlin) Beattie of Lancaster; his son Shane Beattie and wife Trina of Lancaster; two daughters, Sandy Belanger and husband Marc of Whitefield, Kricket Ingerson and husband Mitch of Jefferson; and seven grandchildren, Adrienne, Mercedes, Tyler, Benjamin, Spencer, Katherine and Gracie. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Susan Beattie Carpenter.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, February 20, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10:30 at All Saints Church, Lancaster.

Lancaster- Charles Arthur “Squeak” Frenette Sr.
....show 66 passed away on Thursday February 9, 2012 at Weeks Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on June 11, 1945 in Concord, NH a son to the late Clayton Arnold Sr. and Viola (Zanes) Frenette.
Squeak started working for Timberland Machines he worked for the State of New Hampshire Department of Transportation for over 30 years, retiring in 2001. He also had his own firewood business and truck for deliveries for several years. Squeak was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend to all of us. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved his time at camp in New York and Maine. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He enjoyed playing cars and scratching lottery tickets. He was a member of the Moose Club and the VFW Men’s Auxiliary John W. Weeks Post 3041 where he was the Chaplin. He was also a former member of the Odd Fellows and the SEA Association.
Mr. Frenette was predeceased by his parents, a brother Clayton Arnold Frenette Jr. and a sister Joan Grattage. He is survived by his wife (Lorna Nichols) Frenette who he has been married to for 46 years and was his high school sweetheart, two sons, Charles Arthur Frenette Jr., Wayne Frenette and his wife Tricia, a grandchild Camille Frenette, several nieces and nephews.

LUNENBURG - Nila Louise Pond Powers
....show , 90, passed away on Tuesday February 7, 2012 at Country Village Genesis Eldercare.
She was born in Lunenburg on October 19, 1921 a daughter to the late Marshall and Lota (Carbee) Pond.
For seventeen years Mrs. Powers worked for Stinehour Press in Lunenburg. She served on the PTA and helped cook meals. For many years she volunteered her time for the Lunenburg Little League. Her hobbies included knitting and she enjoyed watching television and listening to musicals.
She was a member of the Lunenburg Methodist Church.
Surviving family members include a brother John Pond of Lafayette, NY and a sister Geneva Blay of Schenectady, NY. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Percy Powers, a son Kenneth Powers; and two sisters Margarete Pelletier and Joyce Fernald. .
There are no services. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Riverside Cemetery, S. Lunenburg.

DALTON – Beryl S. Boyle
....show , 95, died Sunday afternoon, February 5, 2012 in Littleton.
Mrs. Boyle was born in Dalton on May 24, 1916, the daughter of Elizabeth M. (Gallagher) Smith and Thomas F. Smith.
A lifelong resident of Dalton, she was a longtime member of the Dalton Congregational Church where she was an organist and the Ladies Aid Society of the church. Other memberships include the Riverside Grange of Dalton for more than 75 years, the Northern NH Pomona Grange, the NH State Grange and the National Grange. She was also a Trustee of the Trust Funds for the Town of Dalton and a member of the Dalton Historical Society. She traveled from Colebrook to Ashland installing officers of the Grange. Beryl was known for giving monologues at various events along with organizing and directing plays and programs at social functions in town.
She worked in the offices of the Gilman Paper Company for many years, law office of Atty. Harry Weistrop in Whitefield in the 1960s and the Supervisory Union in Littleton in the 1970s.
Family members include her son Gary W. Boyle and his wife Joan of Littleton; three grandchildren Connor, Kerry and Cavan; sister Beverly Stewart of Dalton; sisters-in-law Irene Lynde of Littleton and Catherine Brown of Manchester, Conn.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband William E. Boyle in 1990 and by her siblings Nila Aldrich, Kenneth Smith, Thelma Fearon and Arline McMann.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday evening, February 11 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Sunday February 12 at 12:00 noon at the Dalton Congregational Church with a reception to follow at the Dalton Town Hall. Burial will be in the spring in Cushman Cemetery in Dalton.

GROVETON - Patricia Ann McLeod
....show died on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the Country Village nursing home with her family by her side.
Patricia was born on September 23, 1932 the daughter of the late Antonio and Nancy (Young) Gilman. She lived in Groveton most of her life.
On April 4, 1951 she married her husband of 60 years Norman McLeod. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, always trying out new recipes and preparing new dishes for her family and friends. Always the cook at heart, she catered several weddings in the 70’s along with her dear friend Roselyn. Pat's hobbies were reading, keeping up on political happenings in Washington DC, roller-skating, dancing and often times would help volunteer at the old Groveton Town Library. She enjoyed bird watching and loved cats and took upon herself the task of feeding a hot dish for the many stray cats in the winter months often trying to find a home for them. She was a member of St. Marguerite d’ Youville Parish, St. Francis Xavier Church and the Groveton American Legion Auxiliary.
She leaves behind her husband, Norman McLeod and three children, Darlene Collins and her husband Clifford of Spring Creek, Nevada, Bonnie Auger and her husband David of Groveton, John McLeod and his wife Betty of Groveton, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, sisters Constance Connary of Island Pond, Vermont, Anita Tilley of Groveton and a brother Richard Gilman of Stark.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Robert, Donald and John Gilman and a grandson Michael McLeod.

John J. Smith
....show , 94, passed away on Thursday January 26, 2012 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on August 27, 1917 the eldest son of the late John and Mary (White) Smith. Mr. Smith graduated from Lancaster Academy in 1934, receiving a scholarship for debating to Bates College. He was a member of championship debate teams for both high school and college.
Mr. Smith was drafted in the Army in 1942 where he became a classification specialist obtaining the rank of sergeant before his discharge in 1946. He married Ann Elizabeth Woodward in 1947. Mr. Smith worked for Grolier Publishing Company from1938 until his retirement in1984; holding various editorial positions becoming executive editor of Encyclopedia Americana in 1964. After his retirement Mr. Smith became a professional photographer in New York having his work published in numerous books and magazines. On Mr. Smith’s 94th birthday he finally had his book that he wrote and illustrated “Wildflowers of New England” published. Later in his retirement he returned to Lancaster to live at the family farm and presented slide shows of nature and travel at the local library. Mr. Smith was a member of the Sierra Club, National Wildlife Federation, Audubon Society and a Smithsonian Institution National Associate.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife Ann Smith in 1996, his three brothers George M. Smith, Arthur P. Smith and Paul A. Smith. He is survived by nieces Elizabeth Barber, Connie Smith a nephew Matt Smith, a great nephew Andy Smith, a god daughter Nancy Woodward, his loving caregiver Cheryl MacKillop, along with many other nieces and nephews.

Ruth Alice Hafford Beattie
....show , at the age of 96, died peacefully in Woodstock, VT, January 25, 2012 with her daughter and sons by her side. Additional to her daughter, Carla B. Bucklin and sons, Ross H. Beattie and John S. Beattie, she is survived by 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased in 1995 by her loving husband, David P. Beattie.
Born in Groveton, NH on February 22, 1915, she was raised in Groveton and graduated from Groveton High School in 1933 as President and valedictorian of her senior class. After graduating in 1936 from Plymouth Normal School, Plymouth, NH, Ruth became a highly respected, dedicated high school Business Teacher, serving in schools at New London, Whitefield, Stratford and Groveton, NH until her retirement in 1976. She was an active member of Delta Gamma Sorority. As a life-time member of the United Methodist Church, Ruth was deeply involved with church activities including youth activities and teaching Sunday School. During the late 1950’s she served as Methodist Lay-Preacher for the congregations in North Stratford, Stark, Milan, West Milan and Errol, New Hampshire. She was an avid sports enthusiast her entire life - fishing, playing and refereeing basketball, and playing golf with her family and friends well into her mid ‘80s. Ruth was devoted to her family and attended as many children and grandchildren sports and school activities as possible while enjoying traveling with her husband, David. She was an avid reader and always looked for the challenge of a tough cross-word puzzle. Before returning to NH in 2004 for home care and assisted living, Ruth lived for several years in Sun City Center, Florida where she enjoyed the warm weather and the comfort and camaraderie of many close friends.
In lieu of a memorial and church service, there will be an 11:00 a.m., August 11, 2012 graveside service at the Ridgewell Cemetery in Guildhall, Vermont. LANCASTER — Edith “Polly” E. Chessman
....show , 76, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. She was born on January 17, 1936 in Berlin, a daughter of the late Elwin and Lyndall (Call) Brown.
Mrs. Chessman was a nurse’s aide at Weeks Medical Center for 31 years. She enjoyed being active in the Scottish Dancing group, Senior Citizens of Lancaster, attending music events, fairs, lighthouses, traveling and cats. Mrs. Chessman loved spending time with her family and was a former Girl Scout Leader.
She was predeceased by two brothers Elwin and Clarence Brown, two sisters Lillian Brown and Winona Couturier. She is survived by her husband John Chessman of Lancaster, four children, Lyndall Demers and her husband Albert of Lancaster, David Chessman and his wife Ramona of Lancaster, Joyce Ball (her husband Jeffrey passed away in 2006) of Lancaster and John F. Chessman of Boston, Mass.; one brother William C. Brown, seven grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters.
Family and friends are invited to memorial visiting hours on Sunday, January 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 30, at 11 a.m. at the Christ United Methodist Church in Lancaster.

John Richard McEvoy III
....show of Lunenburg, died unexpectedly on January 23, 2012. John R. McEvoy III was born May 28, 1955 in Andover MA. He was an avid sports enthusiast especially golf, animal lover, and motorcyclist. John enjoyed spending time with his dogs, and taking long rides through the countryside on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. John also enjoyed boating, Skiing and was a gun enthusiast. John had a long and successful career as a professional welder.
He leaves behind his wife Katherine (Goewey) McEvoy, three brothers and two sisters; Elizabeth Stern of Hampton NH; Mary Ellen Lawlor of Haverhill, MA; David McEvoy and His wife Karen of Methuen MA; Tyler McEvoy and his wife Mary-ellen of Wells, ME; Walter McEvoy and his wife Fran of Amesbury, MA; 15 nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews, and his beloved dogs.

MORRISVILLE, VT - Norma Mildred (Woodbury) Briggs
....show , a resident of Hyde Park, VT and a long time resident of East Windsor, CT passed away January, 21, 2012 in Morrisville, VT. Norma was born in East Concord, VT on March 9, 1924. Norma was employed for several years by The Kraft Bag Division of the Gilman Paper Co. In 1945 she wed Claude Henry Briggs. They resided in Lancaster, NH, East Concord, VT and moved to East Windsor, CT in 1957. While living in Connecticut Norma provided childcare to many. Her care for her niece Janet (Woodbury) Esterguard, Barbara (Flanagan) LePage and David Flanagan developed into very special, loving and lasting relationships. Norma enjoyed knitting, crocheting and many crafts. For several years she volunteered at the Broadbrook, CT Senior Citizen’s Center. Norma was grateful for the assistance given in recent years while living in CT by a devoted friend and neighbor, Debbie Bretton.
Norma was predeceased by her husband in 1986, her parents Howard O. and Mabel (Fisher) Woodbury, a sister Beverly Mae, a brother Howard Jr., and his wife Emma Woodbury, a nephew John Woodbury and brother-in-law Leslie C. Briggs. Norma is survived by her sister Phyllis E. Briggs of East Concord, VT, nephews Lindsey and Gary Briggs, Frank and Jay Woodbury, Robert Stevens, plus nieces Janice (Briggs) Boulais, Janet (Woodbury) Esterguard, and Luanne (Woodbury) Krzykowski and her very special friend Barbara LePage.

Lancaster, NH- Dr. Carl Yunghans, M.D.
....show , 82, passed away on Thursday January 12, 2012 at Weeks Medical Center. He was born in Mount Vernon, NH on March 26, 1929 a son to the late Emil and Sarah (Jones) Yunghans.
Dr. Yunghans graduated from Waltham High School in Waltham, MA. He went to college and medical school at Tufts University; serving his internship in the United States Navy from which he was honorably discharged in 1957. Dr. Yunghans began practicing medicine in Lancaster in 1957 working independently out of his office in the House of Seven Gables until 1972. In 1972 he became a founding member of the Regional Medical Professionals Association. He married Sandra Nada Placey in 1982. Dr. Yunghans retired from practicing medicine in 1993.
Dr. Yunghans was a Director of the Lancaster Fair, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a past member of the Elks, American Legion and the Snow Drifters. In his free time Dr. Yunghans enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time at his Camp on Neal’s Pond. Family meant the world to him and were always put first above all else.
Dr. Yunghans was predeceased by his parents and a sister Janette Balben. He is survived by his wife Sandra Yunghans, two daughters Ellen Chapman of Crawfordville, FL, Lyn Ross of Concord, NH, three sons Wayne Yunghans of Warrenton, VA, Glen Yunghans of Plymouth, NH, Lance Placey of Derry, NH, two brothers Herman Yunghans of Limerick, ME, Emil Yunghans of Watertown, MA 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

GROVETON – Betty Mae Barry
....show , 68, died Wednesday morning January 11, 2012, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Barry was born in Norwich, Connecticut, on April 8, 1943, the daughter of William and Roberta (Kenny) Haviland.
Raised in Preston, CT, she resided there until moving to Groveton in 1987 with her husband Alan Barry of Groveton. She always had a passion for Indian folklore and artifacts which carried over to her business, Tall Lady Indian Jewelry. She was also a member of the National Rifle Association.
Family members include a son Charles Reuther of Oregon; a grandson Josh Hickey; two sisters, Roberta Goldman of Waterford, CT, Corrine Swan of Preston, CT; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband Alan predeceased her.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Lake Cemetery, Pittsburg.
LANCASTER – Grace R. Hinkley
....show , 86, passed away Wednesday noontime January 11, 2012, at The Morrison in Whitefield.
Born Grace Pearl Rayburn in LaGrande, Oregon, on January 20, 1925, Grace was the seventh and last child of Orville and Mary Jane (Birdwell) Rayburn. Her five brothers and one sister have all predeceased her.
After graduation from high school in wartime 1943, Grace worked briefly as a station agent for the Union Pacific Railroad. In 1944 she took a position as a civilian employee of the U.S. Army at Fort Richardson, Alaska, working as a cryptographer decoding Japanese military messages.
While in Alaska, she met Major Walter D. Hinkley, serving in the Army on the Aleutian Islands. They were married in his parents' home on Prospect Street in Lancaster on December 22, 1944 while Walter was home on leave. Grace returned to Oregon to live with her family until her husband was discharged from the Army in June 1946. They returned to Lancaster and purchased a home on Winter Street. Grace lived in that home until she took up residence at The Morrison in Whitefield for the last two years of her life.
Grace was the mother of two children: Andrew H. Hinkley, now of Charleston, Maine; and Deborah D. Tilton, now of North Attleborough, Massachusetts. At the time of her death she is survived by five grandchildren: Veronica Hinkley Reck of Alameda, California; Mariah Daley of Boerne, Texas; Benjamin Hinkley of St. Paul, Minnesota; Joseph Hinkley of Arlington, Virginia; and William Hinkley of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York; by a step-granddaughter, Jennifer Schultz of Vienna, Virginia; and by six great-grandchildren.
Grace's husband Walter, a well-known attorney and District Court judge in Lancaster, predeceased her in 1991.

Mrs. Malanson was born in Brownington, VT, on May 5, 1923, the daughter of Walter Raymond and Mable Bell (Bennett) Young.
Pearl was a longtime Lunenburg resident and homemaker who loved crafts, playing cards, going to auctions, word searches, sewing, music, and spending time with family.
Family members include her children, Phyllis Martin and lifetime friend Sandra Laughy of Northfield, NH, Robert Malanson of Northumberland, Mable Fox and husband David of Lunenburg, Linda Krauss and husband Wally of Lunenburg, Bonnie Cotter and husband Norman of Northumberland, Diane Malanson of St. Johnsbury, VT; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis Gertrude Higgins of Laconia, Stella Ruth Merrow and husband Richard of Littleton, Vera Beatrice Andrews of Moultonborough; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur Stanley Malanson; a daughter Mary Malanson; three brothers, Gordon Young, Dale Young, Maurice Young; and a sister Pauline Godbout.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, January 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will follow Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring in Summer Street Cemetery.

LANCASTER – Joy V. Pedersen
....show , 71, of Grange Road, died Friday, January 6, 2012, at the Littleton Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Pederson was born in Quebec, Canada, on April 19, 1940, the daughter of William and Theresa (Beaudrey) McKinnon.
Raised in Burlington, MA, she attended Burlington High School and in 1965 move to the North Country. She resided for a short time in Colebrook before moving to Lancaster where she worked as a nurses aid for many years. After earning a degree as an LPN at NH Community Technical College she was employed at Genesis Eldercare in Lancaster for 20 years.
Joy had a love for gardening; she cultivated many flower gardens and was an herbalist. She also loved to travel and was a reiki master.
Surviving family members include two daughters, Valarie Pedersen of Lancaster, Lee Ann Dorr and her husband Jefferson of South Berwick, Maine; two sisters, Kizzie Sullivan and Roberta Lajoie both of Lancaster; three brothers, Roy McKinnon and David McKinnon both of New Hampshire and Jeffrey McKinnon of Maine. Her husband, Harold C. Pedersen, predeceased her.
Services will be held in the spring.
GROVETON – Pearl Priscilla Demers Gilcris
....show , 87, of Thompson road, passed away with her family by her side on January 4, 2012, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Lewiston, ME, on September 30, 1924, the daughter of Alfred and Louisa (Lemieux) Demers. Growing up in Dummer she later moved to Groveton at the age of 16 to work and has lived there the rest of her life.
Pearl’s early employment was housekeeping before working at the Plywood Mill in Stratford for 9 years. From there she took employment at the Groveton Paper Mill until retiring there in 1986. Not one to sit still for too long Pearl decided to work at PAK 2000 until that department closed.
She loved cooking, sewing, knitting, reading, crocheting, making puzzles, play solitaire on the computer, gardening and spending time with her family.
Family members include two daughters and their families:
Dorothy (Gilcris) Powell, her spouse Walter and children, Cindy, William, Melody, Kelly, Vern, Todd and Dorothy, their spouses, children and grandchildren.
June (Gilcris) Goulet, her spouse Wayne and their children DeWayne, Tammy, her spouse Mac, Dawn, her spouse Randy, Darcie “Dee”, Angela Andrew and significant other Jen, Samantha and her spouse Chad Hurley.
Four sons and their families:
Roger (deceased) and spouse Sylvia and children, Robin, her spouse Alan Iserman, Ann Marie, her spouse Kevin Malloy, their children and son Christopher.

Pearl is best known as “Mim” and lived with her daughter June. She was very close to the immediate family that lived with and around her. These include great-grandchildren, Lauralyn and spouse Jeremy cross, Toby Kenison, Sabrina, Jessica, and Randee Dawn Pelletier, Robert McLain, Toria Clark, Andrew Jr., Alyssa and Andrew Goulet, Kaitly Adam, Kayleigh Higgins, Adrianna Veliz, Nathaniel and Zachary Goulet. Her great-great-grandchildren Hailleigh Pelletier and many special friends and relatives to numerous to mention were also very important to her.
She is predeceased by her parents, 8 siblings and her son Roger passed away in 2010.
Calling hours will be held Friday afternoon, January 6, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A service will follow immediately after at 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring in Emerson Cemetery, Stark.

Goffstown, NH- Alfred Arthur Nolette
....show , 84 of Goffstown and formerly of Lancaster passed away on Wedsnday January 4, 2012 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. He was born in Berlin, NH on October 5, 1927 a son to the late George and Aurore (Boucher) Nolette.
Fred was honorably discharged from the Navy on July 27, 1946. He married Rita Cloutier on September 4, 1950 in All Saints Parish in Lancaster. They made their home in Lancaster where he was a police officer for a period of time and also worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles as a licensing officer.
Fred had a passion for hockey; playing for the Berlin Maroons for five years and later coaching youth hockey in Lancaster. He also enjoyed playing golf and loved spending time with his family. He is a past member of the Bradley Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in which held several offices.
Fred was predeceased by his parents and two brothers George Nolette, Lucien Nolette and two grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Rita Nolette; two sons Michael Nolette of Londonderry and Peter Nolette of Cornish, one daughter JoAnn Felisme of Manchester, a sister Anne Louise Beaudet of Rochester, five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
