....show , 79, died on Monday, October 3, 2011 at the Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH. He was born in Warden, Quebec, March 17, 1932, the son of Angus and Claudia Cora (Hamel) Sheppard. He graduated from McIndoe Falls Academy and an automotive tech college. Lee served with the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married Ann Willey Pollard on December 28, 1957. He was automotive service technician for many years at the Volkswagon dealership in Barre, VT. He also owned and operated Sheppard Auto Repair in East Ryegate. For more than 25 years he was a rural paper carrier for the Caledonian Record. He delivered newspapers from St. Johnsbury, VT to Woodsville, NH. Lee was a 56 year member of the Ross-Wood Post #20 American Legion in Woodsville and a member of the VFW Post #10038. He loved to fish, and when he was younger he enjoyed hunting with his brothers. He loved to cook and socialize with people. Lee will be sadly missed. He was one of the most liked people, was very caring, and always helped everyone. Lee never gave up in anything he did. Lee s greatest love was his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered as a caretaker for his family. He was predeceased by his brother, Laurent Sheppard. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Ann W. ....show , 80, of Highland Street, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill, NH with her family by her side. She was born in Haverhill, NH, August 1, 1931, a daughter of Erville and Roberta (Miller) Stimson. Barb graduated from Woodsville High School, Class of 1949 and then attended the Bennington School for Nurses in Bennington, VT. She worked as an LPN at Cottage Hospital for 42 years and among her many duties there she loved rocking the hundreds of babies she helped bring into the world. Barb was a member of the Woodsville United Methodist Church for over 50 years and served as the former president of the Girls Club. Barb was involved with every aspect of the church, including organizing church suppers and rummage sales, singing in the choir, making and delivering Christmas baskets, and participating in the Couples Club at the church. Barb loved to go dancing with her husband Gordon and she loved her dog Britney. She will be fondly remembered for her love of children and for attracting children to her side. Barb married Gordon C. Robinson on March 28, 1953. She was predeceased by her parents, Erville Stimson on February 4, 1964 and Roberta Miller Stimson on January 14, 2001; her husband Gordon C. Robinson on September 30, 1984; a sister Norma Stimson Ackroyd; and a nephew, Joshua M. Stimson on October 24, 2010. Survivors include her daughter, Linda J. Robinson Goss and her husband Tom of Woodsville, NH; a son, James G. ....show , 73, of Powder Spring Road died at his home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, October 7, 2011. Bill was born in Lyndon, VT on May 24, 1938 to Floyd and Margaret (Randall) Randall. Bill graduated from Lyndon State College, Class of 1961 with a BS in Education and a minor in Psychology. In 1978, he received a Masters in Education from the University of Vermont. Over the years, he continued his own education. Bill was involved in education for over forty-five years. He served in a variety of roles as an English teacher, special educator, or principal at the Guilford Elementary School in Guilford, VT, the Stowe Middle School, in Stowe, VT, the Blue Mountain Union School in Wells River, VT, the Peacham Elementary School, Peacham, VT, and at the Waits River Valley Elementary and Middle School in Waits River, VT. His professional achievements included being appointed to the Vermont Certification Review Board by the Commissioner of Education in 1973-74, being the Vermont Headmaster s Representative on the Governor s Committee on Children and Youth in 1976-77, being appointed to the Vermont Special Education Advisory Board by the Commissioner of Education from 1971-78, and being a Quest Facilitator and presenter for high school instructors of Alcohol and Drug Awareness from 1984-86. He was proud of the time he spent at the Chatrwittaye School in Bangkok, Thailand in 2002 where he taught middle school English as a second language. Bill was a certified instructor for the Impaired Driver Education Program under the auspices of TRI-County CAP in Berlin, NH. As an educator, he realized the importance of training students in communication skills and self-esteem building. Volunteerism was important to Bill. He volunteered at Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in North Dakota, was a lay speaker for Methodist churches in the Lyndonville area, volunteered with drama students, mentored incarcerated inmates at the Grafton County Correctional Center, taught hunter safety courses, and helped at the Groton Fall Foliage chicken pie suppers. Along with his busy professional career, Bill kept busy in other ways. He always appreciated the latest gadgets and technology. He was very active in AA. Bill was an avid reader of many different genres including Harry Potter, politics and science fiction. He liked watching the Star Trek series. He and his friends met regularly for coffee. The Tunbridge Fair was an annual event for him. Bill thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Bill was predeceased by his parents; a brother James Randall; a sister, Beverly LaPlant and husband Bernard; a brother-in-law, Lyman Nichols; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Randall. He is survived by his wife Patricia L. (Baumann) Randall, of Groton, VT, whom he married on August 18, 1962; their daughter Erin Randall-Mullins and husband Brian of Colchester, VT; two grandchildren Maddie and Will; a brother, Robert Randall of East Brunswick, NJ; a sister, Esther Nichols of Bellows Falls, VT; three brothers-in-law, William Baumann and wife Shirley of Randolph, VT, Charles Baumann and wife Joan of Virginia, and Gary Baumann and wife Janet of Long Island, NY; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. ....show , 18, died on Friday, October 14, 2011 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born in Hanover, NH, August 23, 1993, the son of Brian Keith and Lisa Ann (Clough) Hill. Taylor was a senior at Blue Mountain Union School in Wells River, VT, where he played basketball and in his earlier high school years had played baseball. Taylor attended the River Bend Program at Oxbow High School where he was enrolled in the Agricultural Program. He was very passionate about the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, go four wheeling, mudding, and snowmobiling with his buds. He maintained a strong interest in old muscle cars and had been accepted into the high performance program at the University of Northwestern Ohio. He always liked being in the company of his brothers and friends! He enjoyed going to his grandfather s to go camping, fishing and hunting. His true passion was his lifted 1996 F-150. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Patricia V. Hill on February 28, 1996. She was born in Woodsville, a daughter of James and Mary (Higgins) Moran, and graduated from Woodsville High School, Class of 1938 and then from the University of New Hampshire in 1942. Alice had a long career with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture as a microbiologist having worked in Kentucky, Georgia, Iowa, and Washington, DC. She was predeceased by her parents, a sister Winnifred Moran, and twin sister Catherine Moran. Survivors include numerous cousins. ....show , 87, of the Bayley Hazen Road, died at his home on October 18, 2011. Maurice was born in Peacham on November 8, 1923, to John Gilman and Gertrude Marion (Peck) Chandler. He was a graduate of Peacham Academy. Maurice married Ruth Bartlett on June 20, 1948. He was a dairy farmer and later worked as a milk tester for the Vermont DHIA, retiring in 2001. Maurice served the Town of Peacham as Moderator, Selectman, and former Chair of the Board for 27 years. He was a member of the Peacham Board of Civil Authority and was still serving as a fence viewer. He received a commendation for his forty years of dedication as a public servant. He was a member of the Peacham Congregational Church where he had been a deacon, head usher, moderator and treasurer. Maurice was a 50 + year member of Washburn Masonic Lodge of Danville, VT. He belonged to, and was a former Master with the Lakeview Grange in West Barnet, VT, where he was currently the Overseer. He was a former board member of the Cabot Creamery. Maurice was a lifelong sugar maker and was especially partial to fancy syrup and sugar-on-snow. He enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Caledonia Farmers Market. He was a dynamic cribbage player. Above all, Maurice was a family man and truly enjoyed contributing to the annual family reunion that is held on the farm. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth B. Chandler on July 28, 2003; a grandson, Robby Blake; a brother, Clifton Chandler; a half-brother, George Chandler; and a half-sister, Marion Libby. He is survived by two daughters, Gloria J. Chandler and husband Francis L. Keith III of Pittsford, VT and Patricia N. Blake and husband Robert F. of West Rutland; two sons, Alan M. Chandler and wife Donna L. of Georgia, VT and Paul L. She married Frank W. Wadley in 1937 and he predeceased her on February 8, 1973. He was born in Woodsville, NH, November 19, 1929, the son of Edward Everett and Mary Ann Florence (Hart) Darby. Roger served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. He married Marion Chamberlain on July 9, 1952. He worked for 35 years and 7 months as a truck driver for St. Johnsbury Trucking Company, St. Johnsbury, VT. On April 1989, Buster received the Million Mile Award at St. Johnsbury Trucking. He was a former member of Teamsters Union #597 and was a member of the Ross-Wood Post #20 American Legion in Woodsville, NH. Roger also attended the United Methodist Church in Woodsville. He married Pauline (Holmes) Broe on May 15, 1997. He was predeceased by his wife Marion L. (Chamberlain) Darby on September 20, 1994; a daughter, Alice M. Eastman on July 17, 2000; four sisters, Pricilla Leonard, Marilyn Bailey, Virginia Bowley, and Beverly Johnson; one brother, Ronald Darby; and a son in law, Terry Bunnell. ....show , 65, of Plateau Acres, died on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Hanover, NH, May 5, 1946, the son of Thomas and Marion (DeGoosh) Wilcox. Robert graduated from Thetford Academy, Class of 1964. He married Pamela Bacon on November 26, 1967. Robert lived in Lyme, NH for 35 years, before moving to Bradford 7 years ago. For many years he was an oil burner technician for Johnson and Dix, before retiring in 2000 due to health issues. He attended the Fairlee Community Church and later the Lyme Congregational Church. In the late 60 s and early 70 s he enjoyed stock car racing at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, VT. Robert was an avid golfer and was a longstanding member of the Lake Morey Country Club. He loved square dancing and was a member and former President of the Connecticut Valley Swingers. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and woodturning. He was a member of the Twin State Woodturners Association and former member of the White River Bowling League. Robert enjoyed the New England Sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots and enjoyed playing baseball. Robert and Pamela traveled extensively while being involved with square dancing. The last couple of years he participated in local farmers markets. He also enjoyed gardening and knitting socks along side his wife. His true passion was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Pamela (Bacon) Wilcox of Bradford, VT; two daughters, Hilary Scruggs and her husband Michael of Thetford, VT and Mina Smolinski and her husband Christopher of Westminister, MD; a son, Ryan Wilcox of Fairlee, VT; 7 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Townsend, Lauren Townsend, Alaina Scruggs, Nathan Smolinski, Mitchell Smolinski, Owen Smolinski, and Lila Smolinski; a sister, Connie Landry of Hooksett, NH; an aunt, Sylvia Swift and her husband Denzil of Wilder, VT; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ruth was born on April 8, 1917, in Meriden, CT, to John E. and Hannah (Taylor) Reynolds. After graduating from Meriden High School, she attended Meriden Junior College. On August 21, 1943, she married Lyle Gilbert Lang. As long-time residents of Connecticut, they retired to Monroe 30 years ago. Along with being a homemaker, Ruth served as a secretary for the Catholic Cemetery Association in Connecticut and as the secretary for St. Joseph Catholic Church in Woodsville, NH. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and a member of the Women’s Club, and the Parish Council. Ruth was a devoted mother and Nana. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Lyle G. Lang on April 3, 2007 and by a brother, Raymond Reynolds. She is survived by three daughters, Joan I. Lang of Passumpsic, VT, Linda M. Hall and husband Phillip of Monroe and Ann L. Fillion and husband John of Littleton, NH; two sons, John G. Lang and wife Sandy of Monroe and David L. She was born in Methuen, MA, January 25, 1913, a daughter of Arthur and Margaret (Stanhope) Booth. She moved to Lewiston, ME at age 4 with her family and graduated from Jordan High School Class of 1931. Arline graduated in 1934 from Central Maine General Hospital in Lewiston as a registered nurse and practiced in Lewiston where she became the Head of Obstetrics at Central Main General. She married Cecil D. Ross on March 1, 1936 in Lewiston. Together they moved to Newbury, VT where she began work in the antique business, making hundreds of lampshades. From 1965 to 1988 she worked first for Richard Darling Antiques and then for Ralph and Barbara Perry of Oxbow Antiques & Lampshades both of Newbury. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Newbury and the Women s Fellowship, as-well-as the Newbury Historical Society. She was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, Cecil D. Ross, on July 19, 2009 and a sister, Evelyn Booth Rolfe. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia R. VanWagoner of Epping, NH and a son, Stephen B. Ross and wife Virginia of South Ryegate, VT; five grandsons, David E. VanLuven and wife Isabelle Bleecker, Mark C. VanLuven, Jeremy M. Ross and wife Carrie, Timothy A. Beverly was born in Littleton, NH, July 6, 1933, a daughter of Frank and Marion Pearl (Bedell) Lewis. She graduated from Woodsville High School Class of 1951. Beverly married Wendell Ernest Estes on November 29, 1951. In her younger years she worked at the Happy Hour Restaurant as a waitress. She also worked for 13 years at Plymwood Furniture in Lisbon, NH. For many years she worked for New England Wire in Lisbon, until retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Pine Grove Grange in Bath. Beverly loved crossword puzzles, watching birds, caring for all the stray cats and dogs in neighborhood, and having yard sales. Her greatest passion was her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was very hard working. Beverly was a very caring and devoted wife and mother to her family. She was predeceased by a son, Keith Wendell Estes on December 4, 2009; a sister, Delores Poppy Clough; and a brother, Rodney Lewis. Survivors include her husband of 59 years Wendell E. ....show , 86, of Witherspoon Road, died on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at her home. She was born in Norwich, CT on November 21, 1924 to George Leon and Florence (Holloway) Randall. Florence graduated from the University of Connecticut and then began her teaching career in Peacham, VT. While teaching in Peacham she met, fell in love with, and married James Richardson Kinerson and they bought a dairy farm in Ryegate. In the early 60 s Florence taught at the One-Room Schoolhouse in Ryegate Corner and after its closing she continued teaching in the Ryegate and Bradford schools for many years. She enjoyed teaching 5th grade but teaching science, phys ed, and coaching girls basketball were her passion. She enjoyed going to the basketball games at BMU and enjoyed watching the UConn girls basketball games on TV. Florence was a member of the Ryegate Corner Presbyterian Church, Blue Mountain Grange, and Gideons International. Three of her grandchildren, Mary, Hannah and Charles had the honor of being her caregivers when she needed constant care at home. Florence loved playing chicken dominoes, she enjoyed having her Bible and devotional read to her, she was soothed by violin music played to her by her son-in-law, and she was thrilled to be able to talk to/see several of her grandchildren and meet her newest great-granddaughter, Ariella, who was born October 6th in Japan, via Skype. Florence was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Jim; her brothers David Randall, George Randall, and Paul Randall; her brothers-in-laws Russell Kinerson, Cliff Kinerson, Jim Quimby, and Bill Kinerson; and her sisters-in-laws Dolly Randall and Louise Kinerson. Survivors include a daughter, Ginny Gray Achilles and husband Wayne of Burnt Fort, GA; a son, Jack E. He was a graduate of the Woodsville High School, Class of 2006, where he participated in the Special Olympics all four years. Always smiling, Bryan enjoyed working at WalMart in Littleton, NH, as a greeter, cashier, and stocking shelves. Bryan attended the McIndoe Falls First Congregational Church and continued to support the Special Olympics. He loved and cared for his cat, Ony. He loved sports, particularly NASCAR, the Green Bay Packers, and the New York Yankees. He grabbed any opportunity he could to have a discussion with Red Sox fans! Guy was born in Haverhill, NH, on August 19, 1930, to Guy H. and Jennie (Plamandon) Burrill, Sr. He graduated from McIndoe Falls Academy and attended West Virginia Wesleyan College. On October 20, 1950, he married Marjorie Marge Page. Guy entered the US Air Force on November 27, 1951 and received his Honorable Discharge on November 26, 1955 having attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his time in the service, Guy worked for New England Power as a hydro operator at both the Comerford and McIndoe Falls Stations. He also enjoyed farming. Guy was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of the Ross-Wood American Legion Post #20 both in Woodsville, NH. He was a sports enthusiast who loved baseball, football, golf, snowmobiling, hunting and attending the sporting events of his sons and grandchildren. He coached Little League in Monroe for thirteen years. He enjoyed boating and fishing along the Connecticut River along with numerous family camping vacations. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marge Burrill of Monroe; 7 sons, Bob Burrill of Gorham, NH, Steve Burrill of Monroe, Ken Burrill and wife April of Justin, TX, Scott Burrill and wife Karen of Somersworth, NH, John Burrill of Dover, NH, Mark Burrill and wife Karen of Monroe, and Rodney Burrill and wife Jane of Albany, NH; twelve grandchildren and one great grandson; two half sisters, Peggy Lugo and Jeanne Greever both of Boca, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. ....show , 83, of Plains Road, died November 22, 2011 at the Hanover Terrace Healthcare, Hanover, NH. He was born in Wells River, VT, February 24, 1928, a son of Alfred and Gladys (Baker) Vielleux. For many years prior to his retirement he worked for Palazzi Construction doing bridge and highway work. He married the former Marjorie Hunt of Monroe and she predeceased him on August20, 1984. He was also predeceased by a brother Joseph Vielluex on January 28, 2011, and since his death in November his sister Joanna Bemis died on December 9, 2011 and his brother Frederick Vielleux January 23, 2012. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in laws. Burial beside his wife Marjorie will be in the Monroe Village Cemetery in the spring of 2012.

David was born in Brockton, MA, December 2, 1939, the son of Elmer P. and Olga (Cheyunski) Bryant. He grew up in Princeton, ME and Barnstable, MA. David moved to Vermont and married Edna Frances Proulx on May 14, 1982. He worked in construction his entire life. David was a talented brick mason and plasterer, working for himself as-well-as for Dartmouth College. When working for the College, he and his wife worked together on projects. David and Edna moved to McIndoe Falls in 2006. They loved Vermont and spent many days together RVing around the Eastern Coast, especially in Maine and around Cape Cod. He loved fresh and salt water fishing, shell fishing, hunting, and playing the guitar. David enjoyed football, baseball, hockey, and watching college ball. His joy in life was being able to spend time with his wife and family. He was predeceased by two sons, Craig Bryant and Kevin Bryant; and a brother, Les Bryant. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Edna F. Bryant of McIndoe Falls; a daughter, Sherri LeMay of West Yarmouth, MA; a sister, Linda Lumatinen and her husband William of Marstons Mills, MA; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. ....show , 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2011, at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Marvin A. Minkler, Sr. in 2002. A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, she dedicated herself to her family, and filled her home with pictures and photograph albums of every one of them. Elizabeth was born and raised in Newport, VT, but spent most of her adult life at her home in Darien, CT. In the last few years she lived at her daughter s home in Piermont, NH. A working mom, Elizabeth was employed in Stamford, CT at Laminated Shim, Cerro Copper and Brass, and for years at Saint Joseph s Hospital. Elizabeth is survived by her son, Marvin Minkler Jr., and his wife Mary of St. Johnsbury, VT and her daughter, Betty Frate and her husband Ron of Piermont, NH; her sister, Mildred Langevin, and brothers Reg Fox of Waterford, CT, and Lawrence Fox of Norwalk, CT. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, and beloved aunt to dozens of nieces and nephews. They all filled her life with joy and laughter, and endless memories. Besides her family, Elizabeth loved to tend to her flowers and gardening at her home. Her love of reading often found her in her den, coffee at her side, and a book in her hands. There will be no calling hours. He was a graduate of Woodsville High School and then served in the US Army from January 16, 1946 to January 15, 1949. Following his Honorable Discharge, he attended and graduated from the University of New Hampshire. In his early years, Bud worked at the former Adams Paper Company in Wells River, VT. From 1970-1981, he was the bartender at the American Legion Home. Later, he worked as a clerk at the former Scruggs Hardware Store in Woodsville. He married Everdene Irwin on November 28, 1982. Bud joined the Woodsville United Methodist Church in 1934. He was a 52 year member of the Ross-Wood American Legion Post #20 in Woodsville. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, watching all New England sports teams (especially the Red Sox), bowling at the lanes in Woodsville, Littleton, NH and St. Johnsbury, VT. Bud was known to play a game of cribbage or two. He also appreciated music and attended summer band concerts in the area. He was predeceased by his siblings Priscilla Leonard, Marilyn Bailey, Virginia Bowley , Beverly Johnson, Ronald Darby and Roger Buster Darby. Sylvia was a member of the Order of Iona-Lafayette OES of North Haverhill. She enjoyed all sorts of handwork, gardening, reading and cooking. She will be affectionately remembered as a caring mother and friend. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Paul Robertson on November 28, 2000 and by a granddaughter, Kim Ash. Newbury, VT David Alan Boyce
....show , 67, of Tenney Pond Road, died on Sunday, December 18, 2011, at the Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH. He was born in Haverhill, NH, December 17, 1944, the son of Earl and Rhubertha (Oliver) Boyce. David attended a one room schoolhouse in Boltonville and the Newbury High School. He married Mary Lou Burroughs on August 1, 1964. David was first employed at the former Gulf service station in Wells River. He later drove truck for the former Armour Meat Company in Woodsville. For many years he hauled cheese from the Wells River Creamery to Connecticut for Gerald Beckley as well as driving school bus in the Blue Mountain Union school district. He also worked for his brother-in-law, Cliff Wright of Bradford. In 1987, he began his own excavation business, Dave s Trucking and Excavation. Each winter Dave could be seen on the Wells River Main Street clearing snow from the latest snow storm. He thoroughly enjoyed maple sugaring season, producing many gallons over the years. He enjoyed hunting camp, deer hunting, and playing horseshoes. David faithfully attended the sporting events of his children and grandchildren. He coached and sponsored Dave s Trucking Team in the Men s Softball League in South Ryegate from 1989 to 2005. Each morning he would make the rounds with his coffee group, starting at the Jiffy Mart, then to South Ryegate at Alley s Market, stopping at P&H Truck Stop and finally ending up back at Jiffy Mart. He had many memories on several deep sea fishing trips. He was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Rhubertha Boyce; and a brother, George E. Boyce on April 15, 2009. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mary Lou Boyce of Newbury; three children, Wanda Kosakowski and husband Stan of South Ryegate, twin sons, Bruce Boyce and wife Tania of Newbury and Brian Boyce and wife Cindy of Wells River; eight grandchildren, Josh, Zach (Hillary), Kim, Brandon (Cassie), Derick, Justin, Haley, and Shanon; one great granddaughter, Camille; two sisters, Beverly Wright of Bradford, VT and Barbara Welch of Newbury, VT; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Donald graduated from high school in Pennsylvania. He married Myrna Irene Frost on November 7, 1959. Donald served with the U.S. Coast Guard from February 19, 1957 to February 17, 1961. He worked most of his life in the Granite Industry around the Barre, VT area. Donald was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Woodsville, NH. He had a passion for photography, the Red Sox, sports, and news. He was predeceased by his wife, Myrna I. Wetmore on September 26, 2010; a grandson, William Quelch, on April 7, 1993, and a sister, Betty Jean Dale. Woodsville, NH Emaline Mary McFarland
....show , 88, died December 21, 2011 at the Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill, following a period of failing health. She was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, April 30, 1923, a daughter of Ernest and Mabel Stearns. For many years prior to her retirement she worked for the Burndy Corp. in their Littleton and North Haverhill facilities. Emaline enjoyed traveling, especially to Maine, camping, fishing, and walking. She was predeceased by her husband James McFarland. Emaline was one of 17 children and is survived by her brother Charles Stearns of St. Johnsbury, and her very dear friend Mary Hesseltine of North Haverhill, and her daughter Linda Speer of Ryegate, VT, along with several nieces and nephews. Memorial calling hours will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, from 1-3 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH.
Woodsville, NH iola Mae Grenier
....show , 95, died December 27, 2011 at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, following a period of failing health. Vi was born in Bath, NH, October 8, 1916, a daughter of Arthur and Leona (Noyes) Young. She was a graduate of Bath High School, Class of 1934 and from the Concord College of Business in 1939. Vi worked as a bookkeeper at the Laconia State School and as a stenographer for the Exeter, NH Manufacturing Company. During World War II, she served with the WAVES and was stationed in San Pedro, CA, where she was in charge of personnel records for enlisted men. She served from May 1944 to March 1946 receiving her Honorable Discharge as a Yeoman First Class. For many years following, Vi was a legal secretary for the former Harold K. Davison Law Firm and later at Dearth Insurance Agency, both in Woodsville. A gifted seamstress, she enjoyed sewing and needlework and taught sewing to 4-H classes for many years. She was a member of Ross-Wood American Legion Post # 20 and Auxiliary of Woodsville where she served as the Auxiliary secretary for more than 50 years. Along with her sister, Zellene Burt, they altered and repaired the uniforms for McLure s Student Band, and in recent years she was a volunteer with the local RSVP. Vi was married to Frederick J. Grenier on June 12, 1948 and he predeceased her on February 25, 2010. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Isabelle White, Elsie Willis on January 4, 1999, and Zellene Burt on March 21, 2004. Survivors include a daughter Cheryl Garside and husband Jeffrey of Fair Haven, NJ and a son Michael Grenier and wife Delia of Concord, NH; four grandchildren, Timothy, Christopher, Kimberly, and Amie; and four great grandchildren Emily, Ashley, Logan, and Olivia; half sisters, Florence Ruggles of Littleton, NH and Irene Breault of Ryegate, VT; and a half-brother, Alfred Young of Concord, NH; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. The funeral service will be on Friday, December 30, 2011, at 11 AM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. Spring burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Woodsville. Woodsville, NH Milton Leroy VanNorden
....show , 77, died December 28, 2011 at his home, following a period of failing health. He was born in Chelmsford, MA, November 21, 1934, a son of Lemert and Mary (Colbeth) VanNorden. Van served from June 1956 to June 1958 in the United States Army. He married Joanne Wilkins on August 31, 1969. For 25 years Van was a long haul truck driver for the former St. Johnsbury Trucking Company. Then, he worked for Currier Trucking in Lancaster, NH. Later, Van was a bus driver in the Haverhill Cooperative School District; first with Clough Transportation and then for ten years with First Student. He worked at McDonalds in Woodsville for four years, including their opening day. He is a member and former Deacon at the Wells River Congregational Church. For over 25 years, Van was well-known for playing Santa Claus in the area. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Richard VanNorden. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joanne VanNorden of Woodsville; his children, Kevin VanNorden and wife Nicole of Woodsville, NH, Michael VanNorden of Woodsville, Robert VanNorden and Karen and Susan; granddaughters, Paige and Kathleen; a great granddaughter; two sisters, Esther Greenwood and Ruth; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 6-8 PM, at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A brief Prayer Service will follow the calling hours with Rev. Elizabeth J.A. Siwo Okundi of the Wells River Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Pine Grove Cemetery, Woodsville.
