Mrs. Arena was born in New York City on March 7, 1911, the daughter of Francesco and Rose (Anastasi) Cannata.
She studied music at New York University and Columbia and was an accomplished violinist. Later she worked for Sperry Gyroscope on Long Island and set up a computer library for Polaris submarines. She came to Whitefield in 1969 along with her daughter and son-in-law and purchased the Kimball Hill Inn. She was the inn’s chef and became well known for her culinary talents, particularly the old way of cooking learned from her Italian heritage.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Lancaster and present holder of the Boston Post Cane in Whitefield.
Family members include a daughter Annett McMahon and John of Whitefield; a son John Arena and Lucy of NY; a sister Yolanda Mastrelli of NY, 2 brothers, Anthony Cannata of NY, Joseph Cannata and Nancy of Whitefield; 6 grandchildren including Lisa McMahon and Joyce Hutchings of MA, Jim McMahon and Candace of Whitefield, George Thomas and Vivanne of NY; 8 great-grandchildren including Devin McMahon of CO, Victoria Thomas of NY, and Keb and Jude Hutchings-McMahon of MA. Predeceased relatives include her husband Giovanni “John” Arena; an infant son; a daughter Catherine Thomas; and three sisters, Sebastiana Cannata, Domenica Cannata and Elvira Petriccione.
There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 6, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Church, Lancaster. Rev. Noel Bailey will officiate. Interment will be in the spring in St. Paul’s Memorial Garden.

STRATFORD - Carlene R. Stone
....show , 61, passed away on April 4, 2011, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, with her family by her side.
Mrs. Stone was born in Rumford, Maine on October 9, 1949, a daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Smith) Mills.
She was raised in Bethel, Maine and has been a resident of Stratford for 40 years. For 13 years she worked as a cook for Tri-County CAP Head Start Program in Groveton. Many of the children there referred to her as a “Good Cooker”.
Carly had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing, reading, going to the ocean, and she could tell the best stories. Her laughter was contagious and her smile would light up a room. Her greatest love was her grandchildren.
Family members include her husband Samuel C. Stone of Stratford; her mother Elizabeth of Rumford; her children Melanie Stone of Colebrook, Joshua Stone of Stratford, Melissa White of Lancaster, Samantha Stone of Stratford, Sara Willey of Twin Mountain, Jakelene Stone of Stratford and her step son Samuel D. Stone; her brothers Charlie Mills of Salem, Oregon, Randy Mills of Bethel, Ronnie Mills of Mexico, ME and Scott Mills of Rumford; her sisters Bonnie Marshall of Bethel and Roxanne Corriveau of Gilead; 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her father, a brother David Mills and a granddaughter Sammy Jo Wright, predeceased her.
At Carlene’s request there are no calling hours. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday afternoon April 10th at 2 PM, at the Kimball Hall in Stratford Hollow.
Burial will be held in the spring in the Center Cemetery in Stratford.

LANCASTER – Leonard F. Fontaine

Mr. Fontaine was born in Berlin, NH, on August 18, 1927, the son of George A. and Mary Rose (Gagne) Fontaine.
During World War II he served in the US Army as a military police officer and for many years was employed as a working line foreman for Seaward Construction Company. Leonard enjoyed snowmobiling, gardening, family get togethers and food.
Memberships include the Veterans of Foreign Wars, of which he was life member, the Retiree’s Club of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the Senior Citizens Club at Colonel Town, and the senior citizens exercise group at Colonel Town.
Family members include his wife Eunice Mary (Holt) Fontaine of Lancaster; 8 children, JoAnne Mary Emerson and her husband Leslie of Lancaster, Richard Lionel Fontaine and wife Beatrice of Lancaster, Mary Ann Baird and husband Steve of Beckly, WV, Rosanna Mae Currier and husband John of Lancaster, Nannette Marie Stone and husband Charles of Healy, AK, Dennis “Ben” Leonard Fontaine of Jefferson, Bonnie Lee Bryant and husband Delbert of Milan, Roger Lucien Fontaine and wife Brenda of Lancaster; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a brother Nelson Fontaine and wife Barbara of Groveton; a sister Doris Woodward of Berlin; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hannon was born in Gorham, NH, on July 21, 1930, the daughter of Tom and Marguerite (Barlow) McLain.
Lydia was a former desk clerk at the Lancaster Motor Inn for many years.
Family members include a daughter Heidi Arcuri of Long Island, NY; two sisters, Phyllis Viets of Unity, ME, Shirley Rideout of Jefferson; four grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, and Vincent all of Long Island, NY, and Mary Ann of Pensacola, FL. Her husband Harold Hannon and a brother Thomas McLain predeceased her.
Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. An announcement will be published at that time. Burial will be in Forest Vale Cemetery, Jefferson.
LANCASTER - John A. Emerson
....show , 22, died suddenly Sunday, April 17, 2011, at his home on Summer Street.
John was born in Hanover, NH, on January 25, 1989, the son of Mark M. and Teresa A. (DeVoid) Emerson.
He attended local schools and was a graduate of White Mountain Regional High School in 2009. John was employed as a fire fighter for the Lancaster Fire Department and as an Explorer for Lancaster EMS. He had presently been training to become a first responder. He also worked with Common Ground, Whitefield, assisting with the Meals on Wheels program.
He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster, where he volunteered his time helping with dinners and the Food Pantry run by his grandmother Myra Emerson. He was also a participant in the Special Olympics.
John was outgoing and well known in the Lancaster community.
Family members include his parents of Lancaster; his sister Amber Emerson of Lancaster; his paternal grandmother, Myra E. Emerson of Lancaster; his maternal grandparents George & Judy DeVoid of California; his aunts Holly H. Emerson of Puyallup, WA, Roxie A. Severance and husband John of Whitefield, Lorraine J. Emerson and husband Michael Dauphinais of Westminster, MA, Tammy R. Lazott and husband William of Lancaster, Debra Piper of California; and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by a brother Michael Lee Emerson and his paternal grandfather Fred A. Emerson.

Mr. Dupont was born in Canada on September 23, 1919, a son of John and Rosana (Bennett) Dupont.
Lionel lived in Nashua for several years before moving to Jefferson 46 years ago. He worked many years at Bretton Woods as a plumber. After retirement he worked during the summer at Santa’s Village.
Family members include his wife Marion (Willoughby) Dupont, a son Bruce Dupont and his wife Diane of Jefferson, two daughters Amber Boudle and her husband Rodney of Jefferson and Bonnie Smith and her husband Brian of Jefferson, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by, 2 sons Frederick and Robert, 3 brothers George, Richard and Gerald and 4 sisters Pauline, Phyllis, Catherine and Beatrice.

DALTON – Robert P. Bigelow
....show , 80, of Dalton Road, died Friday morning April 29, 2011, at the Veterans Adminstration Hospital, White River Jct., after a long illness.
Mr. Bigelow was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, February 11, 1931 the son of Maurice Ellsworth and Elsie Hattie (Peck) Bigelow.
He was raised in Danville and attended schools there. During the Korean Conflict he served with the US Army artillery division. He has worked various jobs including mill work, construction, including the Comerford Dam, and was employed for a time with St. Johnsbury Trucking Company. For 19 years he worked for Connors and Hoffman in St. Johnsbury. For 6 years he lived and worked in Florida.
He was a former member and Assistant Chief of the Dalton Fire Department. Other interests include hunting, gardening, and watching stark car racing.
Family members include his wife Evelyn M. (Rodger) Bigelow of Dalton; seven children, Katherine Merry Leach of Littleton, Kenneth Edward Flood of Concord, NH, Donna Lee Sleep of Whitfield, Lillian Harriman of Whitefield, Rose Szakmary of Twin Mountian, Brenda Rosebrook of Reynolds Station, Kentucky, Lois Flynn of Lancaster; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters Beulah Hutchinson of Danville, Margery Fields of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant brother and two sisters Dorothy Loren and June Withers.

JEFFERSON – Franklin H. Gray
....show , 61, of Presidential Highway, died suddenly at his home Saturday, April 30, 2010.
Mr. Gray was born in Lancaster on July 23, 1949, the son of Dewey Alonzo and Mildred (Cass) Gray.
Frank was a lifelong resident of Jefferson. For a time he worked as a groundskeeper for the Spalding Inn, Whitefield. He has been an employee by the Town of Jefferson for many years. Initially he worked for the highway department and later was boss of the Jefferson transfer station.
He loved animals, children, flowers, gardening and collecting things. He was a loving and likable man who had many friends.
He is remembered as a wonderful brother by his two sisters, Roberta Gray of Jefferson, Barbara Sheep, and her husband Mathew, of Bloomington, Illinois, and his brother Michael Gray, and wife Catherine, of Jefferson. Other surviving family members include a special cousin, who he affectionately referred to as “my cousin”, Joyce Dupont of Jefferson, and other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, William Gray, Wayne Gray, Murray Gray and Clayton Gray.

Mr. Beaulieu was born in Whitefield, NH, on September 12, 1948, the son of Roland and Beulah (Rines) Beaulieu.
Oscar was a longtime North Country resident raised in Twin Mountain. He served in Viet Nam with the US Marine Corp. For many years he was employed on the bridge crew with the State of NH Highway Department. His job included work on Mount Washington and the preservation of the Old Man of the Mountain in Franconia Notch. He also worked for many years as groundskeeper at the Maplewood Golf Course in Bethlehem.
Memberships include American Legion Post #41, North Star Lodge #8 F&AM, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks, and the Disable American Veterans. Oscar enjoyed hunting fishing and golfing in his spare time.
Family members include two sons, Ron J. Beaulieu and Rob J. Beaulieu; two daughters, Brandy Lee Farias and Carey Lynn Landry; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a sister, Georgia Courchaine and three brothers, Bruce O. Beaulieu, Bryant R. Beaulieu, and Dennis J. Beaulieu. A brother Dwight D. Beaulieu predeceased him.

Florence was born in Concord, VT, on February 28, 1956, the daughter of Fredrick and Alyce (Howland) Brown.
She was a longtime resident of Gilman and held various jobs in the North Country. At one time she was employed at the Four Dorrs Restaurant, Lancaster, for several years she was a certified nurses aid at Country Village Genesis Health Care Center, Lancaster, and was recently employed as an assisted living caregiver for Human Service of NH, Littleton.
Her interests in life included Nascar racing, watching sporting events, attending truck pulls and arts and crafts. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her family and her extended family, especially summer trips with her grandchildren.
Family members include two daughters, Cheryl LaPoint and husband Michael of Gilman, Karen Call and husband Rubin of Concord, VT; her husband of 34 years William Donaghy of Gilman; two grandchildren, Alyson Brown, Brandon Call; four brothers, William Brown and his wife Donna of Gilman, Everett Brown of Brattleboro, Douglas Brown and Kenneth Brown both of East Concord, VT; two sisters, Carol Lane and husband Dennis of Gilman, Mary Jean Brown of Lunenburg; her extended Donaghy family; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jackson was born in Groveton, NH, on March 11, 1925, the son of Edwin H. and Edith L. (Sheltry) Jackson.
Raymond grew up in Groveton graduating from Groveton High School in 1943. During World War II he served with the US Navy and was honorably discharged as an FIC in 1946. He returned to Groveton and went to work at Groveton Paper Company retiring there when owned by James River Corp. He was the supervisor of the electric department there for 46 ½ years.
He was an avid fly fisherman and he enjoyed dancing and woodworking.
His wife of 56 years, Justine Claire (Gessner) Jackson and a sister Geneva Jackson Kondrat, predeceased him. Surviving family members include 8 nieces and 2 nephews living in other states. A third nephew predeceased him.

LANCASTER - John A. Farnham
....show , 64, died Friday May 6, 2011, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon.
Mr. Farnham was born in Hanover, NH on May 6, 1947, the only child of Joseph and Persis (Parker) Farnham.
He was a lifelong resident of Lancaster graduating from Lancaster Academy in 1966. During Vietnam he served with the US Army, serving as a Combat Infantryman with the 101st Airborne Division and the 3rd Battalion 187th
Regiment “Rakkasans”. He was awarded a Bronze Star and Combat Infantrymen’s Badge. He worked for over 20 years at Groveton Paper Co. retiring there in 1997 when owned by Wausau Paper.
His hobbies included collecting memorabilia and postcards from the local areas.
He was a member of the John Weeks VFW Post 3041, Lancaster and the Fredonwarell American Legion Post 17, Groveton.
Family members include his wife Sara (Holroyd) Farnham, a son Bevan John Farnham of Walpole, NH and a daughter Kelly Caterino and her husband James of New Milford, NJ, two stepdaughters Heather Vermette of Lancaster and Hillary Morris and her husband Joel of Birmingham, AL and 6 grandchildren.

Mrs. Cutting was born in Wolfeboro, NH, on June 23, 1919, the daughter of Carl L. and Beatrice (Kimball) Young.
Barbara was raised in Wolfeboro and graduated from Brewster Academy. After attending business college she worked various secretarial jobs until starting a family with her late husband Earl L. Cutting of Warner, NH. They resided throughout New England but were longtime residents of Portland, Maine.
She was a talented pianist and organist and has performed for the Order of the Eastern Star and in various churches. Late in life she became an avid Red Sox fan.
Church memberships include the Central Square Baptist Church, Portland, Maine and the Congregational United Church of Christ, Lancaster, NH. She was past worthy matron of the Deering Chapter #59, OES, and was recently made a lifetime member of Colonel Town Senior Citizens, Lancaster. NH.
Family members include a son C. Wayne Cutting and wife Sydnie M. Smith of Kennebunk, ME; a daughter Linda C. Hutchins and husband Dave of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Greg Hutchins and companion Billie Andersen, Stacey and Steve Desrosiers, Lisa and Derek Courchaine, Lori and Phil Alexander, James and Maria Companion; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Her husband Earl predeceased her in May of 2010. They were married for 69 years.

Mrs. Brown was born in West Stewartstown on June 13, 1943, the daughter of Clark and Dora (McKee) Nason.
Shirley was raised in Colebrook and graduated from Colebrook Academy. She married Glen E. Brown of Granby and lived there the duration of her life. In her spare time she enjoyed making puzzles and raising her pet birds.
Family members include five children, Tami May Edwards, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Edwin Brown of Granby, Thomas Brown of East Concord, Diana Brown and Peter Brown both of Brattleboro; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Mary Ellen Uran of Beecher Falls and Linda Hunter of Springfield, VT. Glen predeceased her in 1996.

Mr. Powell was born in Lancaster on August 25, 1971.
Michael was a lifelong resident of Lancaster graduating from White Mountain Regional High School in 1990. He worked many jobs including the Gilman Paper Co., Martins Farm and Asplundh and for 15 years he was a member of the Lancaster Fire Dept. For the past few years he has been a proud stay at home Dad, which he took great pride in. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending his time with them.

Powell of Lancaster, his companion of 17 years Cari Hodgdon of Lancaster, two children Adam Michael Powell and Hannah Marie Powell; three sisters Laurie Isenburg of Tyrone, PA, Tina Desrochers of Lancaster and Tammy Gawronski of Hanscom AFB, MA and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by, a brother Lawrence C. Powell Jr.

June was a longtime Lancaster resident. She attended Lancaster Academy and earned her diploma in 1953. In 1985 she took nursing courses at Berlin Technical College. She married Joseph Franklin Harold Monahan on March 7, 1953. He predeceased her in 2008.
Her many interests included reading, knitting, crocheting, going shopping, going out for lunch and spending time with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a great faith in God.
Family members include daughter and son-in-law, Kim (Monahan) and Lloyd Ingerson of Jefferson, son and daughter-in-law Rodney and Elaine Monahan of Stark, daughter and son-in-law, Jodi (Monahan) and Wes Welcome of East Concord, VT, daughter Penny (Monahan) Bradford of Lancaster, daughter Peggy (Monahan) Burchardt of Afghanistan, son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Robin Monahan of Gilman; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her parents Norman Wheeler and Ruth Howland; her father and mother-in-law, Frank and Esther Monahan; and three brothers.
Visiting hours will be held Friday afternoon and evening, May 20, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Reverend Seth Frink, pastor of the Lancaster Assembly of God, will officiate. Cremation will follow with a graveside committal service to be held Saturday, June 4 at 2:00 PM in Northumberland Cemetery. \

GROVETON - Nancy L. Cass
....show , 69, died Friday evening May 20, 2011 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon with her daughters by her side.
Mrs. Cass was born in Morristown, NJ on November 4, 1941, the daughter of Ellsworth and Marjorie (Teets) Sanders.
She lived in New Jersey for several years until moving to Crawford Notch in 1976, where she and her family owned and operated Mt. Nancy Rest Stop and Campground. In 1981 she moved to Lancaster and opened the Cosmic Palace Arcade. She was also a foster mother and a personal care attendant for NFI North. She later moved to Groveton, where she has been a resident for several years.
Nancy enjoyed knitting, crocheting, yard sales, watching Westerns and the food channel. She especially enjoyed going for rides, getting ice cream and watching the sunset. She was a people person and had many friends.
Family members include her daughters Donna Marie Weckesser and companion Dave Hill of N. Conway, Annette Samson and companion Raymond Dubreuil of Lancaster, Michelle Severino of Lancaster and Deborah McCarthy and companion Robbie Baker of Littleton, a brother John Sanders and his wife Linda of Denville, NJ, 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, her first husband Anthony Severino of St. Johnsbury and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by, her parents, her second husband Stephen Cass and a brother William Sanders.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday May 28th, at 2:00 PM, at the home of Annette Samson and Raymond Dubreuil, 51 Causeway St, Lancaster.

GROVETON, NH - Wilbur J. “Web” Barnett
....show , 80, died Friday morning, May 20, 2011, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, with his wife by his side.
Mr. Barnett was born in Lancaster on September 19, 1930, a son of True Wilbur and Helen M. (Gallagher) Barnett.
Web was a lifelong resident of Groveton graduating from Groveton High School. He proudly served with the US Navy. He worked for the succession of companies at the Groveton mill including Diamond International Paper, Groveton Paper Company and Wausau Paper from where he retired. During his career at the paper mill he was the president of the Union Local 61 for 27 years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his biggest love was his grandchildren and looked forward to their visits.
Family members include his wife Dorothy (Reynolds) Barnett of Groveton, two step-sons George Nugent of MA, Brent Nugent and his wife Jane of Salisbury, NH, a brother Howard Barnett and his wife Pauline of Gorham, NH; 6 grandchildren, Benjamin, Amanda, Kristie, Michael, Matthew and Ashlee; 5 great grandchildren; and 2 nephews Brian and Jay Barnett. He was predeceased by, his brother Dean Barnett.
Visiting hours will be held Monday evening May 23, from 6-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Rev. Richard Phillips will officiate. Burial will follow in the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.

LANCASTER – Warren A. Bartlett
....show , 90, of Gore Road, died Sunday evening, May 22, 2011, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mr. Bartlett was born in Berlin, NH, on January 17, 1921, the son of Harry and Elsie (Lowell) Bartlett.
Warren was raised in Berlin and was a graduate of Berlin High School. During World War II he served in the US Army 10th Mountain Division as a ski trooper in Italy and the Aleutian Islands.
For 35 years he was Register of Deeds in Coos County. He was a professional photographer and owned and operated Bonnie Lee Studios in Lancaster. He was a former Boy Scout leader and Explorer and started the annual tradition of the cross lighting on Mt. Cabot.
Warren loved the mountains and was an avid skier and hiker. He was a member of the Four Thousand Footer Club.
He was a member of the 10th Mountain Division New England Chapter and the VFW Post 3041, Lancaster.
Family members include his wife Shirley M. (Young) Bartlett of Lancaster; four children and their spouses, Brewster Bartlett and Michele of Loudon, Beverly Gallegos and Joe of Lancaster, Bonnie Beyer and Stephen of Concord, NH, Rebecca Crawford and Barry of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Christopher Beyer, Matthew Beyer, Carly Lombardi, James Dufour, Jennifer York, Warren J. Bartlett; and several great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will held Wednesday morning, May 25, at 11:00 in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster. Rev. Sharon van der Laan, pastor of the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ will officiate. A 10th Mountain Division Memorial Garden Service (69 Gore Road, Lancaster) will be held Thursday, July 14, at 11:00 in Warren’s memory. Military honors will be performed at both services.

CONCORD, NH – Linda L. Smulski
....show , 65, died Tuesday evening, May 24, 2011, at Epsom Healthcare Center.
Mrs. Smulski was born in Lancaster, NH, on November 3, 1945, the daughter of Guy and Bertina (Collins) Hawes.
Linda was raised in Groveton, NH, and attended schools there. Her life’s work was in healthcare and she has been employed in the medical field as a nurse’s aid, LPN, and an EMT. For a time she worked at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, and she served on the Groveton Ambulance Corp. For ten years she resided in Twin Mountain and later moved to Concord to be near family. Most recently she was employed with the Concord Visiting Nurse Association until retiring due to health.
She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and the Red Hats.
Family members include two sons, Daniel Stonecipher of Concord, Michael Anderson of Berlin; a daughter Kris Lang of Boscawen; three brothers, Winston Hawes and Gordon Hawes of Groveton, Robert Hawes of Groveton and the Philippines; and 7 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel Smulski and a son Scott Anderson.
There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday morning, May 28, at 11:00 in the United Methodist Church, Groveton. Rev. Aaron Cox, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Northumberland Cemetery.
GUILDHALL, VT - Helen Patricia Boswell
....show , 89, of Guildhall, passed away peacefully May 24, 2011, at Country Village Nursing Home, Lancaster.
She was born on September 3, 1921 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Willard and Estella (Fearon) Hubbard.
As a young child, she moved with her family to Guildhall. Helen graduated from Groveton High School in 1939 and Keene Teachers College. In 1943 she married John A. Boswell. She taught school for many years in Guildhall and Groveton. After retiring, she was a dedicated volunteer at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster.
Helen and her husband were avid skiers. She also loved music, knitting, sewing, gardening and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by her three sons, John “Jay” Boswell and wife Rachel of Berlin, James and wife Janice of Nashua and Kevin and wife Cheryl of Rumney, as well as 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a sister Elizabeth Odell of Country Village Nursing Home in Lancaster. Helen was predeceased by, her husband John, who passed away in 1995 and a granddaughter, Sarah Boswell.
At Helen’s request, she will be cremated and there will be no funeral services. A private graveside service will be at the Ridgwell Cemetery in Guildhall at a date to be determined by the family.
LANCASTER – Philip G. Page, VMD
....show , 70, died May 26, 2011 at home with family after a period of declining health.
He was born April 2, 1941 to Dr. H. Gordon Page and the late Louise Doe Page in Burlington, VT. In 1963 he married the love of his life Nancy Reynolds Page who survives him along with his daughters, Lauri and husband Michael Boivin, Suzanne and husband Andrew Pyszka, Sarah and husband Aly Hirji, and son, Scott and wife Suzanne. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Katie Boivin, Tom Boivin, Michael Pyszka, Ashlee Hirji, Shayla Hirji, Nicole Page, Erica Page and Kevin Page. He leaves behind his sisters, Julia Paton of Huntington Beach, CA and JoAnn Nielson of Burlington, VT as we as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dr. Page graduated from Burlington High School in 1959 and the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine in 1966.
He first practiced in Middlebury, VT, Concord, NH and Dover, NH, before moving to Lancaster to establish his own practice in 1969. He built and practiced in the current Lancaster Veterinary Hospital until his retirement in 2006. He initially treated both large and small animals later choosing to focus on small animals. He has a special interest in cardiology and orthopedics at a time when veterinary specialist were not readily available.
Dr. Page has been a member of the Christ United Methodist Church since 1970. He joined the Lancaster Rotary Club in 1969 and helped to organize the first Rotary Auction in 1970 and chaired the committee for 30 years.
He served on the Lancaster Budget Committee, Col. Town Spending Committee and the Lancaster Zoning Board. He also helped to organize and incorporate the Lou Leaver memorial Fund in 1993.
An avid sportsman, Dr. Page enjoyed skeet, sporting clays, archery as well as hunting and fly fishing. He was active in the Groveton Fish and Game Club, having held several offices over the years and worked with the local chapter of the Friends of NRA. He started the 4-H shooting sports club, Coos Sharp Shooters.
Dr. Page was well versed in Civil War history and enjoyed visiting battlefield parks as well as building reproduction muzzle loading pistols and rifles, which he gifted to family members.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Christ United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 9 at 1:00 PM.

STARK - Tracey L. Abbott
....show , 49, died Tuesday evening June 14, 2011, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mr. Abbott was born in Lancaster on February 5, 1962 a son of Reginald and Alice (Cryan) Abbott.
Tracey was raised in Lancaster graduating from WMRHS in 1979 and went on to graduate from Berlin Vo. Tech. For several years he worked at the local ski areas making snow and as a ski technician. He also worked as a CNC Lathe Operator for Burndy’s in Littleton.
He was very active in sports especially skiing, soccer and hockey and also enjoyed fishing.
Family members include his father Reginald of Lancaster, a brother Stephen Abbott and his wife Elizabeth of Alexandria, VA; a sister Penny Durgin and her husband William of Lancaster; his nieces and nephews, Michael Abbott, Chad Abbott and his wife Tasha, Nathan and his wife Dani all of VA, Scott Durgin and his wife Wendy of Dorset, VT and Gretchen Colby and her husband Brett of Leland, NC and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by, his mother in 2006 and a brother Terry Abbott in 1966.

....show , 71, died suddenly on June 15, 2011, at his sister and brother in-laws home in Dalton.
Mr. Bergquist was born on August 21, 1939 in North Conway, NH at Memorial Hospital a child of, Andrew and H. Betty (Davis) Bergquist Sr.
He attended schools in Marblehead, MA, Warwick, RI and graduated from Whitefield High School in Whitefield, NH.
Jack worked for local farmers and went into the forestry industry, which he enjoyed most of his life. He also enjoyed recycling in his later years.
He was a kind and thoughtful man that would do anything that he could do to help his many friends and always ready to make new ones. He also loved to teach youngsters the value of work to gain self-esteem in doing a good job.
Family members include his sons, Brett Bergquist and his wife Trudy and their children Taylor and Steven of Watertown, CT and Bart Bergquist and his wife Cindy and their children Logan, Emma and Madison of Berlin, his siblings, Richard C. Bergquist and wife Sally and their son William, sister Nancy J. Rexford and her husband Rodney and their children Dennis Rexford, Karen LaRoche, Robin Rexford Pilotte and her children Tyler and Crystle, Allen Rexford and his wife Nancy E. and children Katelyn and Jennifer, Wendy Rexford and her children Samantha and Timothy and niece in-law Bethany Rexford and children Jessica and Lauryn, his sister Sherry Conniff (Moon Dragon) of Alburg Denmark and children Morgan of MD, Emma of PA and Torin of FL.

Mrs. Pearce was born on November 28, 1934, in Whitefield, NH a daughter of Frank and Virginia (Glidden) Garland.
JoAnn worked for many local businesses, for 15 years she was an assistant manager for the Lancaster Motor Inn.
Family members include her children, Kenneth F. Dobson Sr. and his wife Barbara of Jefferson, NH, Vernon Dobson and his wife Elizabeth of Alna, ME, Dareleen Dobson of East Boothbay, ME and Frederick Dobson of Nobleboro, ME, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by, her parents, her stepfather Arnold Turner, her 1st husband Frederick Vernon Dobson in 1973 and her 2nd husband Ralph Pearce in 1976.

NORTHUMBERLAND – John A. Knapp
....show , 49, passed away Sunday evening June 26, 2011, at his home with his loving wife by his side.
John was born in New Haven, CT, on October 10, 1961, the son of Robert Knapp II and Sandra (Davis) Knapp.
On September 14, 1985 he married his sweetheart Mary Shea and a year later they moved to New Hampshire where John started working for Riley Tire in Lancaster. Several years later he became the owner and operator of an auto repair shop on Route 3 in Groveton known as "The Garage". For the past several years he has also worked for D&S Auto in Groveton. Automobiles were John’s passion in both his personal and working life. He will be remembered as being a loving, caring husband and father, a hard-working man and for always being there for friends, family, and his customers.
Family members include his wife Mary Knapp of Northumberland; his daughter Crystal Santy and her husband Scott of Landaff; his father Robert Knapp II of Branford, CT; his mother Sandra Knapp of Niantic, CT; a brother, Robert Knapp III of Lowell, MA; three sisters, Kim Nemeth-Hardy of Old Lyme, CT, Robyn Oswald of Branford, CT, and Kathy Wisting of North Branford, CT. His first grandchild is expected in the next few weeks.

LANCASTER - Janice A. Ronish
....show , 64, died peacefully, on June 27, 2011, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Lancaster on October 10, 1946, a daughter of Francis J. and Carrie (Remick) Haley.
Janice attended the Christ United Methodist Church and graduated from Lancaster Academy in 1964. She graduated from MacMurray College in Jacksonville with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education.
After teaching in Concord, Janice worked for Stinehour Press as a proofreader and quality control for academic journals and museum exhibitions.
She was a devoted mother, a kind and thoughtful woman, with a deep loyalty to her family, friends and community.
Family members include her sons, Cabot Ronish and his wife April and their children Taima and Ayanna of Whitefield, Cedar Ronish of Jefferson and his children Haley of Hill, NH and Summer of Lancaster, her sister Marcia (Haley) Hammon and her husband Art of Whitefield, one niece, two nephews and several cousins.
Memorial calling hours will be held Thursday evening June 30, from 6-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A memorial service will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Lancaster. Reverend Noelle Bailey, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
