DALTON – Reginald Blakslee Stevens
....show , 96, died Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center in Lancaster. Mr. Stevens was born in Dalton on March 1, 1914, the son of Roscoe Gardner and Bessie (Blakslee) Stevens. Reginald was a former paper mill worker and one time road agent for the Town of Dalton. He also served as a Dalton selectman. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, visiting with friends, playing cards, singing and country music. During WWII he served with the US Army as a medical technician in all the major campaigns of the European Theater. He was a 70-year member of the North Star Lodge #8 Free and Accepted Masons. Other memberships included the Scottish Right, the American Legion Post #41, Whitefield, and the Northeast Kingdom Senior Citizen Club in Gilman. Family members include a sister Dorothy Stevens St. Cyr of Dalton; two step-daughters, Jeanette and Harriet; three nephews, Ronnie Stevens and wife Sara, Victor St. Cyr and wife Tammy, Richard St. Cyr and wife Julie; a niece, Paula Stevens and husband Bob; three grand-nephews, Shawn St. Cyr and wife Brynn, Corey St. Cyr and wife Haley, Brian Stevens and wife Bryanna; and a great-niece Misty Stevens. He was predeceased by his wife Gladys (Noyes) Stevens; brothers Richard Stevens, Roscoe “Junior” Stevens, Paul Stevens; one sister Pauline Stevens; and a step-son Buster Noyes. Visiting hours will be held Sunday evening, January 9, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Masonic service will be held at during visiting hours at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Monday morning at 11:00 AM at the Dalton Congregational Church. Rev. Dennis Bowman, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Cushman Cemetery, Dalton.
STARK – Jeannine F. Astle
....show , 62, died Thursday January 6, 2011, at Country Village Genesis Healthcare Center. Mrs. Astle was born in Berlin, February 13, 1948, the daughter of Herman and Simone (Poisson) Beaudet. She was also raised in Berlin where she graduated from Notre Dame High School and for a time worked for the Brown Company. On September 12, 1970, she married David E. Astle and has been a resident of Stark for 30 years. For 20 years she was a teacher’s aide at the Stark Village School. She enjoyed line dancing, knitting and being with her family and the children she taught in school. Family members include her husband David of Stark; a son Scott Astle of Claremont, NH; a daughter Carrie Anne Irving of Groveton; grandchildren Sean Irving and Zachary Astle; a twin sister Jeannette Morin of Berlin; and two brothers Donald Beaudet of Rochester, Raymond Beaudet of Berlin. A brother, Father Richard Beaudet, predeceased her. There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring in the Emerson Cemetery, Stark. JEFFERSON, NH – Evelyn Christenson
....show of Jefferson, NH, died peacefully at home on January 8, 2011. Evelyn was born and raised in O’Neill, Nebraska. As a young woman she moved to Denver where she met her husband Harold. She traveled with him to his Air Force postings then spent many years in Bordentown, NJ, near his last assignment. Upon retirement, Evelyn moved to North Port, FL, enjoying many years there before relocating again to be near her daughter. Evelyn was a devout Catholic. She was also a staunch Democrat because of her belief in equal opportunities for all, social justice and social responsibility. Evelyn epitomized a life of compassion lived out in volunteer service, especially touching the lives of many women and children while sharing the ministry of her daughter among the Sisters of Mercy and at Epiphany House in New Jersey. Evelyn was an accomplished artist, a talent shared by her son. She’d like to be best remembered for her love of God, family and friends. Evelyn is predeceased by her parents Tom and Edna Coyne and her husband, Harold “Chris” Christenson. She is survived by a son Jerome of Lancaster and daughter Janet Christenson of Jefferson; grandson Jerry Christenson, his wife Jennifer and Ev’s great grandchildren, Jack and Reese, who reside in San Antonia; and her beloved sister Winnie Kelly of Denver. JEFFERSON – Arnold Kenneth Turner
....show , 88, formerly of Stag Hollow Road, died Wednesday morning, January 12, 2011, at the Coos County Nursing Hospital, West Stewartstown. Mr. Turner was born in Lunenburg, VT, on February 3, 1922, the son of Harold S. and Mildred M. (Kimball) Turner. He attended school in Lunenburg and also the St. Johnsbury Trade School. For a time he worked with the Civilian Conservation Corp until Pearl Harbor Day in 1941 when he enlisted with the US Army. . During WWII he served with the US Army on a mortar crew in the Pacific Theater. He also served with the National Guard. Most of his life he worked as a woodsman and had various other jobs at local saw mills and he was once employed with Vermont Central Power. He also helped his with chores and farm work for his uncle Elwyn Kimball in Lunenburg. During his last years of employment he worked as a grounds keeper at the Spalding Inn, Whitefield, and at several summer homes on Mt. View Road. For 50 years he was married to his late wife Virginia Dare Estelle (Clark) Turner. Arnold and Ginny had large gardens and each year and enjoyed canning the fruits of their labor. He was a long time member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars. Family members include a daughter JoAnn Garland Dobson Pearce of Lancaster; a sister Marion Rattigan of Peoria, AZ; three grandsons, Kenneth Dobson Sr. of Jefferson, Vernon Dobson of Alna, ME, Frederick Dobson of Nobleboro, ME; a granddaughter, Dareleen Dobson of East Boothbay, ME; 10 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; a nephew Harold Rattingan and family of Falmouth, MA and several nieces and nephews in Maine. One of his nephews, Clarence Freeman, along with wife Guyline, were frequent visitors. At Arnold’s request there are no visiting hours. Mrs. Perkins was born in Hartford, CT, on May 13, 1940, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Poloski) Brazalovich. Patricia was raised in Connecticut and later met and married William Perkins. They resided in Florida for seven years and then moved permanently to the Lancaster. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and chocolate but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the VFW Ladies auxiliary and the Toys for Tots program. Family members include her husband Bill of Lancaster; four children, Laurie Taylor of CT, Nanci Mealey and husband Michael of Jefferson, Dana Perkins and wife Rachel of Northumberland, Stacy Perkins of St. Johnsbury; five grandchildren, Rickey, Alex, Tanisha, Zoie, Rownen; two brothers, Richard Brazalovich and Walter Brazalovich of CT; a sister Mary Ratti of CT; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter Erika and three brothers, Harold, Dinney, and Matthew. Mr. Canario was born in Fall River, MA on January 5, 1947, a son of John and Olivia (Medeiros) Canario. Raymond was raised in Fall River and was a graduate of Durfee High School. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving with the US Coast Guard. Then he went on to graduate from the Rhode Island State Police Academy. He was a Rhode Island State Trooper for 23 years retiring as a Lieutenant. He lived most of his life in Riverside, RI before moving to Northumberland 8 years ago. He was an avid boater, enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved to make people laugh with his stories. He was a member of the Lancaster Assembly of God, the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the VFW in Riverside, RI. Family members include his wife Constance Canario of Northumberland, NH, four children Stephen Canario, Kim Chouinard, Raymond “Randy” Canario Jr. and Victoria Canario all of N. Dartmouth, MA, two stepdaughters Gretchen Castleberry of Ringgold, GA and Jessica David of Capital Heights, MD, a brother Dennis Canario of Middletown, RI and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Harold was raised in Lancaster and was a graduate of Lancaster Academy. He served 10 years in the US Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. For a time he worked for Topsom Industries and for Timberland Machine for 20 years, he retired from Nash Equipment in Colebrook in 2002. He enjoyed playing cards and welding, which he was well known for. Memberships include the John Weeks VFW Post 3041, Lancaster and the Military Order of the Cooties and for a time was the Commander. Family members include three sons, Guy Way of Littleton, Danny Way of Dalton and Brad Way of Maine; two daughters, Mary Ellen Bishop of Savannah, GA and Ann Marie Dubreuil of Lancaster; a brother Richard Way of Lancaster, 22 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. ....show , 75, passed away peacefully Thursday evening January 20, 2011, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon. Mr. Baker was born in Whitefield on October 14, 1935 a son of Wallace and Olive (Lamotte) Baker. Wally was raised in Lancaster and was graduated from Lancaster Academy in 1954. He served 4 years in the US Army. For a time he worked as a lineman for Western Union and a heavy equipment operator for several local contractors and for 18 years he worked for the New Hampshire Department of Transportation in the maintenance department, retiring in 1998. After retirement he spent many hours in his wood working shop, he was well known locally and even as far as Iowa and Michigan for his fine work, he enjoyed Open Mic nights at the Methodist Church and classic country music. He was an avid NASCAR fan and was also a dedicated WMRHS sports fan; he and his wife received the “Booster Club Fan" award in 2005. His other interests included riding his motorcycle, gardening and especially fishing with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the John W. Weeks VFW Post 3041 and a past member of the Lancaster Fire Department. Family members include his wife of 49 years Prudy Baker of Lancaster, two sons Gary Baker and his wife Robyn of Lancaster and Brian Baker and his wife Kristine of Maidstone, VT two daughters Becky Bates and her husband Bob of Newport, NH and Lori Dicton of Rutland, VT, four sisters, Betty Gosselin of Gorham, Mary Fogg of Stark, Theresa Carey of Mont Vernon, NH and Alice Melville of Temple, ME, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. BEDFORD, NH- Norma Carolyn Amadon Patria
....show , 76, formerly of Lunenburg, VT passed away on Saturday, January 22, at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester after a long illness. She was born on March 20,1934 in Lunenburg, Vermont, the daughter of R. Carman Amadon and Nina Pond Amadon who both predeceased her. Norma attended Barre City schools in Barre, Vermont, except for two years during World War II when she went to school in Portland, Maine. She played violin in the Spaulding High School Band and the Barre City Orchestra. She was a dedicated church goer and was also a member of a 12 Step Program for over 45 years She is survived by, three sons, Lloyd Edward Lemieux, Jr., Neil Andrew Lemieux and Timothy Jon Lemieux. She also leaves behind her brother, Richard C. Amadon Jr., of Poultney, Vermont, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her sister, Linda Amandon Alexander, of St. Johnsburg, Vermont, preceded her in death. A graveside service will be held at the Riverside Cemetery in Lunenburg, Vermont on Saturday, May 21st at 1:00 p.m. Were she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, David Patria, and other family members.
LUNENBURG – Clive A. Pond died on Sunday
....show , January 23, 2011 at his home in Lunenburg at the age of 75. He was a lifelong resident of town. Clive was born in Lunenburg on June 18, 1935, the son of Delmar W. and Dorothy L. (Leighton) Pond. He was a four-year member of the US Air Force, working as a jet mechanic and attaining the rank of Corporal. After his military service, he married Marilyn (Colby) Parks on July 5, 1962. Clive worked most of his life as a skillful carpenter, and was employed for many years with Temple Construction of Lunenburg. He was involved in every stage of construction from the foundation to the interior finish work. He was also employed for a time with the Gilman Mill. As a hobby, he created furniture, lamps and wooden toys. He was a Boston Red Sox fan, enjoyed observing and recording the weather, and using his computer. Summer visitors would often join him on the back porch, where he could show them his productive vegetable garden. Family members include his son Gary R. Pond of Haverhill, Mass.; stepchildren Eleanor (Parks) Frechette of Hartland, Vermont; Brian D. Parks & wife Terri of Dalton, NH; brother Blayne L. Pond of Winter Haven, Florida; grandchildren Adam Frechette of West Springfield, Mass., Sarah (Frechette) Taylor of Windsor, Vermont, Katrina (Parks) Mackenzie and Nathan Parks of Dalton, NH; great-grandson Andrew Taylor of Windsor, Vermont; and sister-in-law Marcia (Colby) Pond of Lunenburg. He also had many nieces, nephews and cousins. Clive was predeceased by his parents; his wife Marilyn in 2006; and siblings Verona Elizabeth Pond, Lyle Walter Pond, Delmar W. Pond, Jr., Vaughn Ilda (Pond) Hartwell and Elaine (Pond) Young. At his request, a private family service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Lunenburg in the spring. LANCASTER, NH – Kevin P. Sullivan
....show , 69, formerly of First Street, Lancaster, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 30, 2011, at The Morrison, Whitefield, NH.
Mr. Sullivan was born in Somerville, MA, on August 25, 1941, the son of Herbert J. and Gladys (Habelo) Sullivan.
He was raised in Littleton, MA, and was a 1958 graduate of Littleton High School. He acquired a BS in accounting at Northeastern University in 1963. Most of Kevin’s life accounting was his background but he was also an accomplished entrepreneur. While residing in Massachusetts he was the one time owner of Johnston Badge Co. in Somerville. In Lancaster he owned several businesses including the North Star Gun Shop, Nancy’s Video, and Lancaster Video. He acquired his real estate license and worked for Peter Powell Real Estate in Lancaster and was the former owner of Century 21 in Lancaster. His accounting work was with companies such as Foster Grant, Groveton Paper Company, and White Mountain Mack.
Kevin also served as a Deputy Sherriff in Middlesex County, MA, and once had the honor of being a body guard for Ronald Reagan.
Marksmanship was his unique talent and he was a member of many sportsman’s clubs. He competed in and won many marksmanship competitions.
He was a wonderful caretaker of his late wife, Sandra M. (St. John) Sullivan, and he enjoyed doing so.
Family members include two sons, Gregory Sullivan and wife Christine of Nashua, NH, Sean Sullivan and wife Sheena of Twin Mountain, NH; and 5 grandchildren, Sarina, Jaydah, Madison, Cole, and Ryder.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Thursday evening, February 3, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 210 Main Street, Lancaster, NH.

WHITEFIELD - Bessie R. Prince
....show passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at the age of 94, at The Morrison in Whitefield, N.H. She was born in Beeville, Texas, on June 12, 1916, to Frank A. and Sallie M. Robie, who predeceased her.
She lived most of her life in Franklin and Salisbury, N.H., moving to the North Country in 1977. Her greatest joy was having been a farmer’s wife and a homemaker. She had a great love for all children.
Bessie was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women, in Whitefield, N.H. She was also a 50 plus-year member of the Ionic Ragged Mt. Chapter 20, Order of the Eastern Star in Franklin, NH.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald S. Prince, in 1977, two daughters, Lauretta (Prince) Locke, and Nancy Lee Prince; and a sister, Ruth Mary Robie. Survivors include her daughter, Betty Lou Fenmore of Whitefield; sister Deloice Lutz of Duncanville, Texas; granddaughter Sara Lee Locke of Ithaca, N.Y.; grandson Toby L. Locke of Andover, N.H.; two great-grandsons, Christopher and Charles Cloutier; and niece Sandra Flood.

LANCASTER, NH – Dennis L. Dowse
....show , 58, passed away Thursday evening February 3, 2011, at his home.
Mr. Dowse was born in Lancaster, NH on September 25, 1952, a son of Howard A. and Marion P. (Daley) Dowse.
Dennis was raised in Stratford and was a graduate of Stratford High School. After high school he worked for Ethan Allan Furniture in Beecher Falls, VT, then he was employed by, Groveton Paper Company for 32 years as a machine operator. After the mill closed he worked for a time at PJ Noyes and Burndy’s in Lincoln.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing and walking his dog Kirby. Without being asked he was always there for family, friends and neighbors.
Family members include his wife Arlene (Pelletier) Dowse, two sons, Nathaniel Dowse and his wife Spring of Vancouver, WA and Ryan Dowse of Lancaster, one grandchild Kennedy Ryan Dowse, two brothers Peter Dowse of Lancaster and Terry Dowse of Stratford and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Monday February 7, from 4-6 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM, Father Raymond Ball, pastor at All Saints Church, will officiate. LUNENBURG – Bertha B. Goodwin
....show , 78, of River Road, died Friday morning, February 4, 2011, at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center.
Mrs. Goodwin was born in Walden, VT, on January 19, 1933, the daughter of Howard and Jospehine (Provencher) Brown.
She was raised in Peacham and later met her husband Roy L. Goodwin and lived in Concord, VT. For five years she worked at Ned’s Restaurant. Bertha was a LNA and for fifteen years worked for the State Hospital in Concord, NH. She was also employed five years at the Franconia Nursing Home and ten years at Dartmouth Hitchcock in Hanover. She enjoyed knitting, cooking and her dog “Brat” but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family members include a son Leighton “John” Evans Jr. of Alabama; five daughters, Cheryl Lucier of Mims, FL, Darlene Egan and friend Stephen Burt of Lunenburg, Brenda Mackay and husband Kevin of Lyndonville, Robin Monahan and husband Norman of Gilman, Hope Yeargle and husband Michael of Littleton; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a sister in law Pauline Brown of Marshfield; and a god daughter Linda Foss of Enosburg. Her husband Roy predeceased her in 2007.
There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held June 11 in Riverside Cemetery, South Lunenburg. The precise time will be announced at a later date.

JEFFERSON – David Allen Foster
....show , 60, died on Friday, February 4, 2011, at his home in Jefferson surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born in Lancaster on January 12, 1951 the son of Maurice and Doris (Hartford) Foster.
David married his high school Sweetheart Jennifer Hicks and together they created a home in Jefferson where they raised their family. He enjoyed camping and was a regular at all the local fairs, especially fond of the horse pulling events. He loved farming, woodworking, the outdoors and most of all his family and home.
He leaves his wife of 40 years, Jennifer (Hicks) Foster; a son, Jason Foster and his loving partner Rebekah Dumont of Jefferson; two daughters, Heather Towle and husband John of Brownfield, ME, Jessica Foster Hebert and husband Timothy of Jefferson; he was “Bumpa” to Jaymi and Nick Foster, Karter and Lexi Deming, Laci, Lexi and Mandi Towle, and Emmi and Sophi Hebert. He also leaves his parents Maurice and Doris Foster of Antrim, New Hampshire; a brother, Craig Foster of Antrim, NH; three sisters, Judy Nortier of Sodus, NY, Diane Hadley of Williamson, NY, Karen Finch of Ontario, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

....show , 73, of Lancaster, NH, Tobey Island, MA, and Edgecomb, ME, died Tuesday February 8, 2011, following a stroke.
Rev. Jackson was born in Boston, MA on December 21, 1937, the son of James and Sally (Pratt) Jackson.
John graduated from The Westminster School, Yale College and the Berkeley Divinity School. He was a devoted priest, most recently in the Dioceses of Massachusetts and New Hampshire and was an enthusiastic teacher in OK, NJ and MA. He also served as a school chaplain, chaplain of the fire department and hospice chaplain and volunteer.
He loved family summers on Cape Cod, where he sailed. He was a curious traveler, especially enjoying special trips taken when each of his oldest five grandchildren turned 13. He was an avid birder and was pleased to make recent birding trips to the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica and Mallorca. A loving husband, father and grandfather. John is survived by, his wife W. Anne Jackson of Lancaster, his son, John T. P. Jr. and his wife Ellen Todd of Groton, MA and their children, John T.P. Jackson III, Clark Jackson and Nathan Turner and his wife Monica; his daughter Martha Jackson Gegan of Davis, CA and her husband Brian and their children Caroline, Natalie and Lydia Gegan; his son Benjamin Jackson of Brooklyn, NY and his wife Martha Lee and their children Sophie and Oliver Jackson; his stepson Peter B. Sahlin of Lyndon, VT; his former wife Beatrice Vincent; his brothers Michael and Timothy Jackson and his sister Phyllis Mills and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by, a brother Jimmy Jackson and his stepdaughter Amy Sahlin.
A memorial service will be held Saturday February 12, at 1:00 PM, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Lancaster, The Right Rev. Gene Robinson and Rev. Noel Bailey will officiate.

LANCASTER, NH - Daniel C. Scirocco
....show , 74, died Wednesday evening, February 9, 2011, at Country Village Genesis Elder Care, Lancaster, after a long illness.
Mr. Scirocco was born on April 10, 1936 in Brockton, MA the son of Schirocco.
He was raised in Arlington, MA. He served with the United States Army and was a decorated Korean War Veteran. For a time he was a professional bull rider and for several years he worked as a Butler. He has been a resident of the North Country for 22 years.
Daniel had a lust for life and was very proud to have been a bull rider.
He was a member of the Jefferson Christian Church and the Rotary Club.
Family members include his five children, Lynn Weston of Dorchester, MA, Denise Scirocco of Shirley, MA, Nancy Cheney, Pamela Simms and Daniel Scirocco and his wife Jennifer all of Townsend, MA, 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and several other family members and friends. They will all dearly miss him.
A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon, February 19, at 2:00 PM, at the Jefferson Christian Church. Rev. Dean A. Stiles, pastor, will officiate.
LANCASTER – Salvatore Scott
....show , 80, died Monday, February 14, 2011, at Country Village Genesis Health Care Center, Lancaster.
Mr. Scott was born in Asbury Park, NJ, on April 20, 1930, the son of Joseph Scott Sr. and Mary (Viola) Scott.
He was raised in New Jersey and resided in Neptune for many years where he owned and operated Sal’s Refrigeration. In 1978 he moved to Florida and then to Lancaster in 2007.
Salvatore served with the US Army in the Korea Conflict. He was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church.
Family members include his wife Charlotte (Kravits) Scott of Lancaster; a son Paul Scott of Naples, FL; a daughter, Virginia Crane of Lancaster; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; a brother John Scott of Fort Myers, FL; and a sister Rosalie Freeman of Marlborough, NJ. He was predeceased by three brothers, Harold, Joseph and Anthony; and two sisters Margie Mildner and Minnie Burretts.
A visiting hour will be held Friday evening, February 18, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at the Mountain View Baptist Church. A service will follow immediately after at 7:00 PM. Rev. Donald Williams, pastor, will officiate.
Burial with military honors will be held in the spring in Summer Street Cemetery.

GROVETON – Gloria J. Covell
....show , 64, died Friday, February 18, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon.
Mrs. Covell was born in Lancaster, NH, on December 24, 1946, the daughter of Alfred and Doris (Brien) Gagnon.
She was a lifetime Groveton resident graduating from Groveton High School and working for a time at Styles Drug Store. She was also a secretary for Timberland Machine in Lancaster, and was employed 20 years as guidance secretary at Groveton High School, a job she particularly enjoyed working with her students.
Gloria had many hobbies including knitting, sewing, gardening, puzzle making, shopping and traveling. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren, especially on family trips to Disney World. She will be remembered for her generosity and as a loving and caring person.
Family members include her husband Thomas R. Covell of Groveton; two daughters, Tricia Gainer and husband James of Lancaster, Trina Beattie and husband Shane of Lancaster; her mother, Doris Gagnon of Bellows Falls, VT; four grandchildren, Breanna Hurlbutt who is attending Plymouth State College, Tyler Beattie, Spencer Beattie and David Gainer all of Lancaster; a brother Alfred Gagnon and his wife Carol of Cumberland, Maine; three sisters, Oriole Hawksley and husband Lee of Groveton, Theresa Germain and husband Ron of Lancaster, Lorraine Knowlton and husband Arnold of Bellows Falls, VT; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Her father Alfred predeceased her in 1999.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, February 22, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 10:00 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Groveton. Reverend Daniel Deveau, pastor, will officiate.

HANOVER - Roxanna M. White
....show , 63, formerly of Lancaster, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Hanover Terrace Healthcare.
Mrs. White was born in Lancaster on April 30, 1947, the daughter of Maynard “Mink” and Jeanette (Fournier) Lewis.
Roxanna was raised in Lunenburg and was a graduate of Lancaster High School. She earned a degree in nursing and worked many years at Weeks Medical Center. During that time she returned to college to become a registered nurse. For a time she was also employed with Weeks Home Health. She enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.
Family members include her husband Durwood White of Avoca, NY; a son Steven Bennett of Canterbury; a daughter Jennifer Beach of Dover; a stepson Michael White; and two granddaughters, Madeline and Jeanette. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister Arlene Lewis.
There are no visiting hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Lunenburg.
GROVETON, NH - Frederick Ernest Phelps
....show , 84, passed away Thursday morning, March 3, 2011, at the Morrison Nursing Home, Whitefield.
Mr. Phelps was born in Jefferson, NH on October 7, 1926, a son of Frederick and Hazel (Ingerson) Phelps.
Fred served in the US Navy. He worked for several years at Sargent’s Manufacturing He enjoyed fishing and going to camp and especially loved his dogs Sarge and Diamond.
His memberships included, the Groveton Moose Club, Groveton American Legion Fredonwarell Post #17 and the John W. Weeks VFW Post #3041.
Family members include two sons, Donald Phelps and his wife Jeanette of Lancaster and David Phelps and his wife Margaret of CT, two grandchildren Michael and Shawn Phelps, two great grandchildren Samantha and Nicole Phelps, two sisters Beverly of CT and Shirley of Arizona and his dear friend Nancy West of Lancaster. He was predeceased his wife Harriet, two grandchildren Donald Wayne Phelps and Michelle Phelps and four siblings Celest, Mille, Pricilla and Odell.

MAIDSTONE, VT - Dawn M. Lovell
....show , 40, passed away unexpectedly, on March 13, 2011.
Mrs. Lovell was born in Saint Albans, VT on June 26, 1970 a daughter of John R. Lingenfelter and Marie (Papineau) McKinnon.
She served in the United States Coast Guard and was a graduate of Johnson State College earning a bachelors degree in English and Psychology. For a time taught at the North Country Charter School and Easter Seals. Most recently she has worked for Donovan Engineering and Construction as an assistant project manager.
Dawn was family orientated and especially loved spending time with her husband Scott; together they worked hard building their home from scratch. She was always there to lend a helping hand and there was nothing she couldn’t do. Her hobbies, included fishing, yard sales, riding motorcycles, and reading and was known to have a green thumb. She also truly enjoyed taking care of the holiday festivities.
She was a member of the John W. Weeks VFW Post #3041 Ladies Auxiliary.
Family members include her husband Scott Lovell of Maidstone, a son Robert Worrell of Champlain, NY, her mother Marie McKinnon of Champlain, NY, two sisters Karla Juneau and Michelle Katon also of Champlain, NY, a grandson Ian Kennett; special young man, Cory Gilman who she thought of as a son; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Her father predeceased her.

DALTON - David W. Tupper
....show , 71, died Wednesday afternoon, March 16, 2011, at his home.
Mr. Tupper was born in Glens Falls, New York on May 23, 1939 a son of Milton and Leona (Wall) Tupper.
Dave was raised in Bridgeport, CT and was a 1957 graduate of Basick High School. He was employed as a field engineer for Schlumberger in Ridgefield, CT. His worked required extensive worldwide travel and training in Japan. He retired in 1982 and moved from Bridgewater, CT to Dalton. He also served with the US Navy.
His hobbies included watch repair, restoring antiques and crossword puzzles.
Family members include his wife Sharon (Wall) Tupper of Dalton, a son David M. Tupper of Antrim, NH, two daughter Pamela Zelasky of Lisbon, CT and Karen Semmelrock of Franklin, CT, a brother Milton Tupper of Huntington, CT and a sister Maryellen Chenas of Bethlehem, CT and 8 grandchildren.
At David’s request there are no services.

Lancaster – Mildred M. (Cummings) Congdon
....show , 95, died peacefully on March 21, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at Sterling Village Nursing Home, Sterling, MA.
Mildred was born in Lancaster, NH on May 15, 1915, the daughter of the late Moses and Lucian Vallie Cummings. Her family lived in Groveton where she attended her first three years of school then they moved to Lancaster where they purchased a farm known as the Cummings farm on Reed Rd. Mildred graduated from Lancaster Academy in 1933. She received training from the School of Modern Kindergarten in California and operated a private kindergarten for seven years. She was one of the first employees when Santa’s Village opened. She also worked at Lancaster National Bank and then retired from George M. Stevens Insurance.
Mildred was a Communicant of All Saints Church, past Regent of the Daughters of Isabella, past co-president of the Tabernacle Society. She was a member of the Coos County RSVP for over 20 years and the Coos Quilters. She was a 1500 hour volunteer at Weeks Medical Center. She was a past member of the Weeks State Park and the Historical Society. Mildred’s greatest joy was to be surrounded by her loving family. She enjoyed her gardening, quilting, sewing, and knitting.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Andrew Congdon, her daughters Lucy Berry of White River Jct., VT and Ann Lavers and husband Richard of Fitchburg, MA, five beloved grandchildren Michael Lavers of Falmouth, MA, Kevin Berry and wife Rachel of Roslindale, MA, Stephanie Franz and husband Eric of Norfolk, MA, Brian Berry and wife Lesley of Claremont, NH, and Richard Lavers and wife Christen of Concord, NH, Loving grandmother to eight great grandchildren Alexis Berry, Timothy Berry, Mathew Franz, Eric Franz, Nolan Franz, Grace Berry, Jacob Berry, and James Lavers. She also leaves her loving sisters Gladys Stark of Lancaster and Esther Greenwood of Lancaster. She was predeceased by her brother Edmond Cummings, and sisters Olive Paine, and Elizabeth Meldrum.
Calling hours will be held Thursday March 24, 2011, from 4 to 6 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 10 AM at All Saint's Church, Lancaster. Burial will be held in the spring in the Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster.
