LUCAS AARON TENENBAUM SHAK
....show SOUTH BURLINGTON - Sadly, on Oct. 25, 2010, Luke Shak died suddenly, after a long and brave battle with heart disease. Luke, born on Jan. 30, 1980, was the son of Suzy Tenenbaum and J. Shak, and the stepson of Steve Lane and Beth Shak. He was as beloved as any son could be, and the older brother to Sam Lane and Sasha TenenbaumLane, and Marcus and Nina Shak. He leaves behind his longtime love, Jamie Mendillo, whom he intended to marry. He also leaves behind Grandma Helen, Grandma Judy, and Grandpa Ned, as well as uncles, aunts, cousins, and many dear friends. Although Luke lived with heart disease since birth, he had a full life and an attitude that embraced life. Amazingly, even when very sick, Luke assumed a posture of good health. He never complained and continued to look forward to good times. He showed valiant strength and tenacity through two heart transplants in Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1996 and 2006. Luke's love of life took him on many adventures: the 1987 Super Bowl, fishing in Alaska, a Make a Wish vacation to Club Med with all nine members of his family, the US Tennis Open, the US Golf Open, an NFL playoff game and a recent trip to Disney World. He lived a short while in Los Angeles, Calif., where he was an extra in movies and television shows. Sports were Luke's greatest joy. He was an avid Jets fan. While attending South Burlington High School, Luke was an intern for WCAX sport news, working alongside JJ Cioffi, where he later did some work behind the camera. Eventually, Luke did an internship for ESPN, where he fulfilled a lifelong dream for a short time. Those who knew Luke appreciated his upbeat personality, easy laughs, his memorized Seinfelds, the way he would crinkle his "squishy" nose, and his knowledge about wrestling. He was a tremendous joy to many and will be missed beyond words. A Celebration of Luke's life will be held in Connecticut on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, and at the Unitarian Universalist Society in Burlington on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to Vermont Make A Wish Foundation.
