MADELYN J. KINGSLAND
....show BRATTLEBORO - Madelyn J. Kingsland, 84, originally from Essex Jct., died Aug. 21, 2010 in Brattleboro after a short battle with Alzheimer's. Born in E. Bolton, Quebec, Canada, daughter of the late William E. Juby and Minnie Bell (Clark) Juby. Married to the late Malcolm "Mac" Kingsland and they were married for over 40 years. She lived in Essex Jct. for many years before living in Williston and Waterbury respectively. She moved to Brattleboro in 2008 to be closer to her daughter. Madelyn retired from Fanny Allen Hospital after working there for 11 yrs. She was a member of the Bethany Chapter #71, Order of the Eastern Star, Essex Jct. for several years. She held an office with that order. She was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Essex Jct. along with being a member of the church choir. Before moving to Vermont she was a member of the St. Francis Badminton Club in Canada and won both the Ladies Singles and Doubles tournaments in 1952 and 1953. In her younger years she was an avid downhill skier and spent winter vacations skiing throughout Canada and Vermont with her husband. She was also a great swimmer and loved the outdoors in general. Her other love was music and it was her life. Madelyn is survived by her daughter, Laura L. (Kingsland) Kennison and her son-in-law, Andrew E. Kennison and their two sons, Drew Malcolm and Jared Frederick Kennison. She was predeceased by her husband, Mac, in 1990, along with three brothers and four sisters. She leaves many nieces and nephews within the U.S. and Canada. Upon her wishes there will be no wake or funeral service. There will be a private burial service next to her husband in the Memorial Garden at St. James Episcopal Church, Essex Jct. at a later date. ....show HINESBURG - Muriel S. Kinkel, 82, died Dec. 23, 2010 in Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, Vt. Mrs. Kinkel was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on Jan. 27, 1928, the daughter of J. Federick and Elsie (Misch) Sebastian. She worked as a medical assistant and as a home health provider in New York where she was raised and educated. In 1951, she and her family moved to Queens where she met and married Walter J. Kinkel in 1966. They were summer residents of Hinesburg, Vt. until 1977 when they retired and moved there permanently. Mrs. Kinkel was a member of the United Church of Hinesburg. She joined Hope Circle of the Vermont Branch of the International Order of the King's Daughters and Sons in 1970 and served as Circle Secretary and Treasurer, County President, Branch President and International Director of the Student Ministry Scholarship Department thus becoming a Life Member of Central Council of which she was humbly proud. In 1977 Muriel and Walter joined LaPlotte Chapter Number 64, Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron and Secretary as well as other stations in the Chapter. She had the honor of serving as Grand Representative, District Deputy, Grand Chaplain and was President of Charlotte Morris Past Patrons Association of Vermont. She also was active in the Order of Rainbow for Girls and earned the privilege of receiving the Grand Cross of Colors. She leaves her precious surrogate family, Roger and Anne Donegan and their three sons, James, Joseph and Kevin and their families. She also leaves her good friends, Suzy and Jim Barth; Walter's niece, Joyce Slighter and her husband Warren; as well as a wide circle of friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter on Jan. 6, 2010. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the United Church of Hinesburg, Hinesburg, Vt. Visiting hours will be held in Gifford Funeral Home, 22 Depot Street, Richmond, Vt. on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will take place in the spring. WALTER J. KINKEL
....show HINESBURG - Walter J. Kinkel, 89, died Jan. 6, 2010, at Mayo Healthcare in Northfield. Mr. Kinkel was born in Manhattan, New York, on March 5, 1920, the son of Christopher and Charlotte (Hoyer) Kinkel. He resided in Brooklyn, New York and at the age of six, moved to Hollis in Queens, New York where he lived for 51 years in the same house until his retirement in 1977 when he moved to Hinesburg, Vermont. During WWII, Walter served three years in C Company of the 603rd Engineer Camouflage Battalion. After the war, he continued his education at Pratt Institute and graduated with a B.A. in Art Education. He worked as head of the interior art department of Gimbles Department Store and studied stone sculpturing under Jose Decreet at the Art Students League. He went on to graduate from Columbia University's Teachers College with a Masters Degree in Art Education after which he taught art in the Roosevelt, Island Trees and Bethpage school systems in Nassau County, Long Island, for 30 years. On May 29, 1966, he married Muriel Sebastion, and in Feb. 1972, he took a seven month's sabbatical and together they toured the United States in a Winnebago motor home, concentrating on the arts and history of our country. Walter designed and created liturgical banners for Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hollis, New York, where he and his family were members for fifty years along with designing and donating two memorial stained glass windows. When becoming a member of the United Church in Hinesburg, he continued making banners for a while. Walter was Past Master of Patriot Lodge #33, A. and F.M., and Most Wise Master of the Delta Chapter of Rose Croix in Scottish Rite. He also was a member of LaPlotte Chapter #64, Order of the Eastern Star and served as Worthy Grand Patron with Joanne T. Keyler of Sharon, Vermont, in 19891990. During this time be became known as "Mr. Sunshine." He designed and made settings for Grand Chapter sessions for twenty years which was a most enjoyable time for him. He served as President of the Treasurers Association, Secretary, Host and President of the Grand Representative Association, Second Vice President of Charlotte Morris Past Matrons and Past Patrons Association of Vermont, and President of the Past Grand Matrons and Past Grand Patrons Association. He also was active in the Essex Assemble of the Order of Rainbow for Girls and served twice as a Rainbow Dad and as president of the Advisory Board. Along with his beloved wife, Murial, he leaves his niece, Joyce Slighter and her husband, Warren, and their children and grandchildren; his great nieces and nephews and Suzanne Kinkel. Also his extended family, Roger and Anne Donegan; their sons, Kevin, Joseph and his wife Emily, and James and his wife, Sara; and many friends. He was predeceased by his brother John; his sister-inlaw Velma Kinkel; and nephew Albert. Memorial Services will be held in the United Church of Hinesburg on Jan. 16, 2010, at 11 a.m. with an Eastern Star service by the LaPlotte Chapter. ....show NORTH HERO / ST. ALBANS - Paul D. Kinney, 82, a longtime resident of North Hero died on, July 22, 2010, after a long period of failing health. Born in Berkshire on July 13, 1928, he was the son of the late Hugh and Margaret (Deuel) Kinney. On Aug. 16, 1949 he married the former Helen Saulters of Richford who survives him. Paul was a dairy farmer for many years and retired as a lineman. Paul served his country, as a communication specialist, in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. In addition to his wife, Helen of 61 years, Paul leaves six children and their spouses, Bill and Sandra Kinney, Paula and David Ballentine, Susan Hansen and companion Peter Bergeron, Jim, Steven, and Lisa; two brothers, Ross and Karl; one sister, Wilma; as well as eight grandsons and six great-grandchildren. Paul was also predeceased by a sister, Esther. In keeping with Paul's wishes there will be no public funeral services. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph. DONALD FRENCH KINSLEY
....show FLETCHER - Donald French Kinsley, 95, a lifelong resident of Fletcher, passed away peacefully in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans on Monday morning, July 26, 2010, following a long period of declining health. Don was born in Fletcher June 27, 1915, the only son of Oscar and Iva (French) Kinsley. He celebrated his 95th birthday on June 27, 2010 with family and friends and really enjoyed seeing everyone. As a young man, Don worked in sawmills and with his dad on the family farm, Fernhill. After his dad passed on in 1939, he ran the farm to support his mother. He loved making maple syrup and even worked at it, with help into his late 80's claiming his was the "Best Syrup in Vermont." Don married Mildred Baraw on Sept. 27, 1944 in Johnson. Together they farmed for many years and raised four children. Don also drove a school bus for the town of Fletcher during that time. After they sold the farm in the 1970's, Don worked at Bell Gates Lumber Co. in Jeffersonville as a fork lift operator, retiring at the age of 75. On July 23, 1977, Don married Florence Willequer in Bakersfield, thus becoming stepdad to five children. Don is survived by his wife, Florence; son, Leon Kinsley; three daughters, Donna (Jerry) Papariello and their son, Michael, (Beth) who is serving his country in Afghanistan and their children, Kevin and Kyra; Joan (Robert) Hanson; Betty Tassie and her children, Elizabeth and James; a sister, Ethel Hunter and several nieces, nephews, cousins and sister and brothers-in-law. He also leaves a step-son, Paul Willequer and his daughter, Mariah; his stepdaughters, Mary Morris and her children, Micah Erno, who is serving his country in Afghanistan, Megan Juaire and her children, Alaina and Marley, David (Domonic) Erno and son, Dezmere, Kim Willequer and her children, Malissa Willequer and her son, Lucas, and Jesse Wells, Susan (Tony) Lapan and her children, Shashanah and Rebecca Kennet, Bonnie (Kevin) Root and her children, Jeremy, Nicholas and Jessica Dickson. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Iva and Oscar; his first wife, Mildred; an infant son, Oscar Frank; and his sister, Alice Wells Planck, who died just 11 days ago at age 99. In 2009, after a fall, Don's health deteriorated and he went to live at St. Albans Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, where wonderful care was extended to him. He came to like his "apartment" and made friends there. The family extends sincere thanks to all the staff for making the past year an easier time for all of us with your kindness, patience and professionalism. Friends and family are invited to Don's funeral service which will be held on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. The Rev. Patrick Hoadley, pastor of The Lighthouse Assembly of God in Berkshire, will officiate. Private interment services will be held at the convenience of the family. ....show MILTON - Leslie Paul Kinville, 63, died Monday morning, Dec. 20, 2010 in the Fletcher Allen Health Care, following a four-year battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. "Paul" was born on Feb. 19, 1947 in Burlington, the son of Clifford "Sonny" and Mary (St. Amour) Kinville. He graduated from Rice High School. He married Daria Jo Calcagni on Nov. 11, 1967 in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Burlington. He retired from Sears with over 41 years of service. Working in many departments, with most of his career as Shop Foreman in Automotive. Paul served 10 years in the Army National Guard and then 10 years in the Air National Guard before retiring with 20 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, boating and just sitting on his porch bird watching. He especially loved his motorcycle and Cadillac. In addition to his loving wife, Jo Kinville; Paul is survived by his children and spouses, Michelle McSweeney and her husband, Jack Jr., of Colchester, Jessica Iler and her husband, David, of Florida, Paula Bombard and her husband, Paul, of Milton; his granddaughters, Chelsey McSweeney and Kaitlyn Bombard; his sister, Cathy Bushey and her husband, Karl, of Burlington; his mother-in-law, Elda Calcagni of So. Burlington; and his very close friends, Tom and Sue Evanchuk of So. Burlington; and by several nieces, nephews, friends and his special buddy, Jake. ....show BURLINGTON - Simone A. Kinville, 82, died on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at her home with family that she loved by her side. She was born in Burlington on March 8, 1928, the daughter of William and Norma (Duhamel) Morin. She was predeceased by her husband, William, on June 21, 1984, and her brothers, Louis and Armand Morin. Before retirement, Mrs. Kinville worked in the cafeteria of Rice Memorial High School for 25 years. She was always there for her children, grand and great-grandchildren, never missing a ballgame no matter what the weather was. Simone was also an avid bingo player at Christ the King and Rice schools. She is survived by her children and their spouses, William Jr. and Mary Kinville, Robert Kinville and Debbie Bushey, all of Colchester, Peter and Donna Kinville of So. JOHN J. KIPP
....show PANTON - John J. Kipp of Panton, Vermont, passed into eternal life early Friday morning, Feb. 19, at the age of 84. John was born on May 21, 1925, in Paterson, N.J. to William Leonard and Jeanette Vermuelen Kipp. He attended elementary school in the Dutch hamlet of Prospect Park, N.J. and high school in Hawthorne, N.J. John joined the Army-Air Force in 1942, and served in aviation maintenance as a mechanic in India, China and Burma during World War II. Following the war, he attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich. where he met and married his wife of 59 years, Mary E. Kipp (Betty). They lived in Hawthorne,N.J. for twenty years. John worked for Reaction Motors of Denville, N.J. as an engineer's tech and was proud of his contribution to rocket fuel testing and the Gemini and Apollo space program. John moved his family to Ferrisburgh, Vt. in 1970, upon purchasing the Skyview Motel which they operated for sixteen years. John was employed by Vergennes Union High School for sixteen years and enjoyed the challenge of maintaining and upgrading the physical campus. He retired in 1989. During his retirement he volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels in his local area. He spent time weekly with his grandchildren since their birth. He loved Lake Champlain and the natural beauty of Vermont. He was a member of the Champlain Valley Christian Reformed Church since 1970. John was a charter member of the Lake Champlain Walleye Association, American Legion Post 14, Vergennes, and the Vergennes Lions Club. John is survived by his wife, Betty; son William John and his wife Dee of Middlebury; son John James and his wife Bridget of New Haven. His extended family includes eight grandchildren two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his only sister, Ruth and her husband Jonathan Travis, of Carlisle, Pa. John was eleven when his father died in 1936. His mother passed on in 1987. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m., at the Champlain Valley Christian Reformed Church in Vergennes. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund of the Champlain Valley Christian Reformed Church or the Addison County Humane Society.

A former insurance agent and agency principal in Orleans, he leaves his mother, Florence Kipp; son, Justin; brother, Steve; sister, Martha Lanham; and girlfriend, Sarah Carpenter. Gail was born at home in Essex Junction on Feb. 20, 1960, the only daughter of Archie and Catherine (Gates) Donaghy. Gail will be missed by her loving family and many friends; the love of her life, Dean Marchacos of Huntington; her daughter, Jennifer Pease and husband Brendan of Fairfax; son, Joseph Miller of Hardwick; her daughter, Jamie Russell and partner Randy of Swanton; her mother, Catherine Donaghy of Hinesburg; five grandchildren, Johnathin, Tyler, Caleb, Abigail and Hannah; her four brothers and their spouses, John and Gloria Donaghy of Hardwick, Lee and Cindy Donaghy of Florida, Dale and Jane Donaghy of Barton, Archie and Lyn Donaghy of Hinesburg; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Archie Donaghy, Sr. in 1992. Gail enjoyed her gardening, hunting, fishing, and loved her home on the mountain. EDWARD KNIGHT
....show BURLINGTON - Edward Knight died peacefully at his home in Burlington on Sunday. He was 83 years old. Ed was a seventh generation Vermonter. He grew up in Windsor, where he was a center on the high school football team and played saxophone in a local jazz band. When he was 17, he traveled to nearby Woodstock to enlist in the army. After serving in the War, he moved to Boston and attended Northeastern University and Harvard Business School. Subsequently, he moved back to Vermont and worked at Westinghouse for the rest of his career. During his life, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was an avid bibliophile, philatelist, crossword aficionado, classical music fan and nature lover. Ed is survived by his wife of 55 years, Martha Fitzgerald; and their children, Paula and Jim Marden, Morris and Christine Knight, Eric and Susie Knight, and Yolanda Knight; and grandchildren, Erica, Alex, Maoz, Danielle, Margaret, Abigail and Tom. Ed's beloved son, Ted, died two years ago. A celebration of Ed's life will be held on Friday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. at the Unitarian Church in Burlington.

....show BURLINGTON, VT - Elizabeth F. Knudsen of Burlington, Vt. died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010 at her home surrounded by family. Born in Cork, Ireland, July 3, 1913 to Anne (Cullinane) and James Walsh, she came to this country in 1928 and settled in the Boston area. After marrying John Knudsen, they moved to Nahant, Mass. where they raised their four children. Her happiest years, after retiring, were spent on a hillside in Cambridge, Vt. tending her prolific organic garden, her grandchildren at her side. Devoted to her family, she loved to cook and bake for grand gatherings. Her chocolate chip cookies were famous! She was kind, wise and loving. Her family will love her always and miss her greatly. Elizabeth is survived by three sons and their wives: Jon and Anna Knudsen of Springhill, Fla., Carl and Lee Knudsen of Naples, Fla., Rolf and Shirley Knudsen of Jamestown, R.I. and a daughter, Elizabeth A. Knudsen of Burlington with whom she made her home. She also left 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. ....show SOUTH BURLINGTON - Marianne Greene Kory died peacefully on June 5, 2010 after a brief illness. She was born in the Bronx, N.Y. in 1931 to Belle and Hyman Greene. Marianne was the first woman Phi Beta Kappa graduate of City College of New York in 1952. She taught school briefly in Columbus, Ga. after marrying Peter Kory. She then moved to Cincinnati, OH where she focused on raising her children. In Cincinnati, she worked in the schools and as a social worker. Marianne was an outspoken and committed activist, a member of many organizations including Another Mother for Peace, Zero Population Growth, NARAL and NOW. She founded the first chapter of Amnesty International in Cincinnati . In her 40's, Marianne earned a JD from N.Y. Law School, followed by an LLM in Marine Law at University of Washington. Ever the advocate for the disadvantaged, she pursued a career representing individuals who were unjustly denied Social Security Disability benefits, winning over 95% of her cases. In her office she displayed a poster proclaiming, "Everyone has the right to my opinion!" Marianne retired only two+ years ago. Marianne loved music, particularly opera, classical and jazz classics. She loved to sing. Marianne also appreciated beauty in art, nature, dance and poetry. She was an avid reader of all sorts of books from esoteric philosophy to paperback mysteries. She was very fond of animals, particularly cats. Marianne was a very devoted and beloved mother and grandmother. She leaves her children, Erich Kory and AnneBruce Falconer of Ayers Cliff, QC and Lisa Kory and Dallas Cooper of Richmond; grandchildren, Dana, Avery, Ari, and Ross Cooper of Richmond and Zacharie Gagnon of Ayers Cliff; and brother, Joel Greene of San Francisco. She also leaves her lovable cat, Umbertino. Marianne was buried in a private ceremony at Hebrew Holy Society Cemetery in South Burlington on June 6, 2010. Friends are invited to make a contribution in Marianne's name to an organization that supports animals.

....show PEABODY, MASS. - Mr. Peter A. Kourkoulis of Peabody, Mass., age 49, died suddenly on Monday, May 24, 2010 in Union Hospital, where he was taken after being stricken ill. He was the husband of Deborah Ann (Mayer) Kourkoulis, his wife of 10 years. Born and raised in Burlington, he was the son of Athas "Arthur" and Angeliki "Kiki" (Koutroubis) Kourkoulis of Nahant, Mass. An honors student, Peter received his Bachelors Degree in Management from the University of Vermont. He had also attended Columbia University. Peter was co-owner of the Continental Restaurant in Saugus, Mass. and Angelicas Restaurant in Middleton, Mass. A wonderful person with a heart of gold, Peter was a loving and "Great Dad." He possessed a very good sense of humor and was very athletic in his younger years. Peter was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a son, Damion; two brothers, Paul Kourkoulis of Nahant, Mass. and Chris Kourkoulis, of North Reading, Mass.; and three nieces and three nephews. His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 29 at 10 a.m. in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn, Mass. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nahant, Mass. ....show WILLISTON - Theodore J. Krampitz, 90, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010 in Birchwood Terrace Healthcare in Burlington. He was born on May 19, 1920 in Vergennes, the son of James E. and Matilda (Nichols) Krampitz. He served in WWII attached to the 489th Bombardment Squadron Division of the U.S. Air Force. He had worked at the Addison Independent as an advertising manager. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 14 of Vergennes, V.F.W. Post 6689, of Essex. Theodore was a former member of the Elks club in Rutland and also Union Lodge #2 F & A.M. of Middlebury. Among his many enjoyments, he and his wife enjoyed attending reunions of his Bombardment Squadron. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed going and watching local school sports in the Middlebury area. He enjoyed horseshoes and assembling model cars, airplanes and boats. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Murdock) Krampitz; and sons, James Krampitz of Center Harbor, N.H., Ronald Krampitz of Bristol, and Robert Krampitz and his wife, Lori, of Monkton; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Fred Krampitz; and his sister, Anna Krampitz. A calling hour will be Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 from 10 to 11 a.m. at SandersonDucharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main Street, Middlebury. ....show BURLINGTON - Pavle Kreckovic died on Monday Aug. 2 at Fletcher Allen Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 31, 1922 in Cacak, Serbia, to Stevan and Sofia Kreckovic. He fled his country in the turmoil of WWII. After the war, he studied at the University of Goettingen, Germany, and he came to the United States in 1950. Having lived in Milwaukee, Wis. for a number of years, he came to Burlington in 1966. He was employed as a chemist at the Regulatory Service at Morrill Hall, UVM until his retirement in 1986. He is survived by his wife, Vaiki Laurimaa Kreckovic; his son, Peter and grandson, Thomas; as well as two nieces in Serbia; and a nephew in Milwaukee. He is predeceased by his daughter, Lili, who died in 1989. The family wishes to express thanks for the compassionate care and kindness shown by his physician, Dr. Melissa Brandes; his visiting nurse, Julie Ingalls; and the staff at Birchwood Terrace nursing home. Arrangements are in the care of Stephen C. Gregory and Son Cremation Services. Services will be held later at the convenience of the family.

....show BURLINGTON - Harriet Krieger, 81, of Burlington, died in Fletcher Allen Healthcare on May 11, 2010. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of Harry "Hick" and Belle (Pechersky) Treelisky. Harriet was educated in Pittsburgh public schools and graduated with a B S. in Biology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1949. She worked as a substitute teacher at Burlington High School for over 12 years. Harriet was a longtime member of Ohavi Zedek Synagogue, serving on the Board and also for many years as the Synagogue Membership Chairperson. Over the years, she participated in volunteer activities for many community organizations, most recently volunteering at the Echo Leahy Center for Lake Champlain in Burlington . She enjoyed writing humorous and whimsical poems for birthdays and special occasions for friends and family. Recently, she and her son, Howie, wrote and illustrated a children's book, entitled "Vegetables". Harriet is survived by her husband of 60 years, Arnold Krieger; their three sons, Howard of Burlington, Daniel of Washington Crossing, Pa. , and Thomas Krieger and his wife, Linda, of Wheaton, Ill.; four grandchildren, David and Carrie Krieger, and Sam and Anna Krieger; a niece, Susan Silversmith of Pittsburgh, Pa. and her son, Jed Silversmith of Washington, D.C.; a nephew, Hal Treelisky of Pittsburgh, Pa. and his son, Adam of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a niece, Joyce Yamaguchi of Edinburg, TX and her son, Joshua, and daughter, Jennifer. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Alfred "Buddy" Treelisky; and her sister, Reva Frankle. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today, May 14 at Ohavi Zedek Synagogue, 188 N. Prospect St., Burlington, with Rabbi Joshua Chasan officiating. Interment will follow at the Hebrew Holy Society Cemetery, Patchen Rd., S. Burlington. ....show LUNENBURG - Armand R. Labbe, 66, died Sunday morning, Oct. 3, 2010 in Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. Mr. Labbe was born in Nashua, N.H. on May 25, 1944, a son of Arthur and Blanche (Cote) Labbe. He was a 1962 graduate of Nashua High School and married Lorette Sigouin on Sept. 5, 1964 at St. Francis Xavier Church in Nashua. They recently celebrated 46 years of marriage. Armand was a licensed ham band radio operator and worked for Simpson Paper Co. in Gilman, retiring after 27 years. He was a licensed minister through the United Christian Faith Ministries and Maranatha Ministries, for many years he ministered at the Northeast Correctional Facility in St. Johnsbury. He raised pedigree-racing pigeons, was a member of the Champlain Valley Racers Club and received several first place trophies. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, with a great passion for the outdoors. He was loved and will be greatly missed. Family members include his wife, Lorette Labbe of Lunenburg; two sons, Patrick and Philip; and a granddaughter, Megan; six siblings, Doris Gagnon of Leesburg, Fla., Georgette Leveille and husband, Robert, of Laurel Hill, N.C., Alice Landry of Nashua, Lorraine Bariteau and husband, Aime, of Leesburg, Lawrence Labbe and wife, Ellen, of Leesburg, and Rolande Suchocki and husband, Edward (Nap), of Nashua; and many nieces and nephews. His parents and a brother, Arthur (Pete) Labbe; and a sister, Irene Vien, predeceased him. At his request there are no calling hours. She was born on Jan. 3, 1935, in Barre, the daughter of Alfred and Nadine (Hatch) Brigham. She was married to Kenneth J. LaBounty Sr. on March 13, 1954; they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2004. Ken predeceased her on May 13, 2004. She worked at Fletcher Allen Healthcare for 23 years. She became involved while working at the hospital with the Children's Miracle Network and helped start the annual bowlathon. Roberta was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth Jr. and his companion Deborah McCaffey, and Karl and his wife Norma; her daughter Roxanna Stearns and her husband Gerald; 12 grandchildren, Katie, Kenny III, David, Stacey, Karl Jr., Lucas, Amy, Mark, Anthony, Hannah, Aydan, and Elijah; 11 greatgrandchildren, Jacob, Matthew, Kristen, Sera, Emma, Ashley, Evan, Isaac, Adryian, Albert, and Jared; her five brothers and sisters; sisters-in-law, Mary King and Marry Ann LaBounty. (Bushey) LeClaire on Oct. 7, 1927. She leaves behind her three sons and one daughter, Joseph J. Campbell of Winooski, Roy Allen and Glenn Rodney King of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Gale L. LaClaire of Burlington; several grand and greatgrand children; a sister-inlaw, Jeanette LeClair; and close cousin, Louise Kimball from Bluefield, W. Va.; several nieces and nephews; grand-nieces, grandnephews; and many close and dear friends who gave their time and support. Beatrice was predeceased by her husband, Harry E. LaClair; along with her parents; one sister, Matilda Barbara, who died at birth; and her two brothers, Kenneth and George LeClair. Her family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Frank Landry and Rosemary Dale for their many years of care, and to all of Hospice and Vermont Respite, and to special friends, Phyllis Camley and Wendy Burbo for all their help, time and support. ....show SOUTH BURLINGTON - Joan L. Ladd, 66, of South Burlington died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010 in Burlington Health and Rehab after a long illness. She was born on Sept. 13, 1944 in Randolph, the daughter of the late Robert and Ruth (Lyon) Larsen. Joan graduated from Randolph schools and later attended Champlain College. She then worked for Dr. Montgomery in Burlington as a dental hygienist for many years before starting her family. She was married on Dec. 11, 1972 to Brig. Gen. (Ret.) David L. Ladd. He later predeceased her on Feb. 15, 2003. Joan is survived by her daughter, Alison and her husband Brian Oldfield of Colchester; her step- daughter, Lisa and her husband Tim Quinlan of Kingston, N.Y.; her sister, Judith of Massachusetts; her cousin, Nada and her husband Charles Steele of Springfield, Vt.; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Peter Ladd and his companion Janice Fleury, Dennis Ladd and his wife Sharon, Mildred Hunt and her husband Edward. The family would like to thank the Armisted Care Giver Team for their special care and kindness. Also a very special thanks to Lt. Col. (Ret.) Mike Pressey and his wife Marcia for their faithful care and support over the years. A graveside service will be held in the spring in Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph. ....show SHELBURNE - Loren Eldon Ladd "Bubby", 48, died peacefully at home on Saturday morning, April 24, 2010. He was the son of Carl Ladd and Dorothy (Dick son) (Salls) Ladd. Born in Burlington March 15, 1962. Graduated from CVU in 1980. Loren was a well known antique dealer in the area. Loren had a big heart and was very devoted to his family. He was a member of the Burlington South Congregation of the Jahovah's Witnesses. His faith and love of many spiritual brothers and sisters helped him through a time of failing health. He was predeceased by his father, Carl Ladd, in 1989. Loren is survived by his mother, Dorothy Ladd; his sister, Diane Collins; and his beloved nephew, Shawn Collins Jr.; also by aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service will be held at a later date for family and friends.

....show WOODSTOCK - James Warren Ladue, 81, died at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday evening, Dec. 2, 2010. Mr. Ladue was born on Sept. 25, 1929 in Bronxville, New York,.Y., the son of Col. Ralph and Mary Ladue. Mr. Ladue graduated from the Hotchkiss School and Yale University. He was a senior executive for his family owned business, John David, a chain of men's clothing stores headquartered in New York City. He later became a vice president for Springs Mills Industries, retiring in 1981. James Warren Ladue and Jeanne Theresa Bennett were married in 1950. Together they lived and raised their family in Darien, Conn. for 53 years before moving to Woodstock in 2004. Mr. Ladue loved the outdoor life including sailing, golf, gardening and camping with his family. He enjoyed history, literature and classical music. He was well known for his sense of humor and his love for life. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne of Woodstock; his four children, Jay Ladue of Pleasanton, Calif., Suzanne McMaster of Darien, Conn., Jan Sudbay of Charlotte, Betsy Barrett of Woodstock; and his ten grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a son, Rick Ladue; and a brother, Ralph E. Ladue, Jr. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Darien, Conn. Bones graduated from Cathedral High School, class of 1941, and later from Norwich University, class of 1945. Francis served in the United States Army during WWII. He later was married to Elaine "Prof" Lafayette in Winooski on May 14, 1949. She later predeceased him on Feb. 13, 2010. Bones was a former member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Essex for over 50 years, the Ethan Allen Club in Burlington and the Burlington Country Club. He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Lafayette and her husband, Donald Bennett, of Naples, Fla., Deborah Lafayette of Fort Collins, Colo., Lisa Lafayette and her husband, Alan Hansen, of Centennial, Colo.; and his grandsons, Cuyler Cameron and Jack Hansen. ....show VENICE, FLA. - Arlene LaFountain, 82, of Venice, formerly of Shelburne, Vt. died at home Feb. 23, 2010, following a long and courageous struggle with Parkinson Disease. She was born June 3, 1927, in Syracuse, N.Y., the daughter of Martin and Muriel (Burt) Stebbins. Arlene lived most of her life in the South Burlington, Vt. area. She was a 1945 graduate of Burlington High School. She married Eugene LaFountain on Sept. 13, 1947. Arlene was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved music and playing the piano, enjoyed working in her flower gardens and playing bridge with her many friends. She is survived by her husband, Eugene; children: Steven and his wife Noella LaFountain of North Port, Fla. David and his wife Kim LaFountain of Phoenix, Ariz., Carol and her husband Larry Sheltra of Venice, Fla., Robert and his wife Cindi LaFountain of Peru, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sisters, Phyllis Chittenden of Winooski, Vt. and Marilyn Wheelock of Williston, Vt.; brothers, Rupert Stebbins of Guntersville, Ala. and Randy Stebbins of Milton, Vt. He graduated from NCCS in Champlain, N.Y. and on May 9, 1992 was married to the former Sonya Nugent who survives him. In addition to his wife Sonya of Alburgh, Ricky leaves his mother, Marian of Rouses Point, N.Y. and three brothers, Jerry LaFountain of Troy, N.Y., Randy LaFountain of Rouses Point, N.Y. and Billy LaFountain and his wife Julie of Mesa, Ariz. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Shelby Nugent of Alburgh and brother-in-law Tim Nugent and his partner Tom of Oakland, Calif. as well as several nieces, nephews, cousin and friends. ....show MILTON / EDGEWATER, Fla. - Albert Joseph Lalonde, 76, of Milton and Edgewater, Fla. died peacefully Dec. 30, 2009, in the Hospice of Volusia, Fla. Albert was born in Elyria, OH, the son of Alexander (Laura Travis) Lalonde, and lived in Milton before moving to Florida. He served in the United States Air Force in Korea and as a communications and radar instructor. He also worked for IBM, retiring after 26 years. At IBM, Albert was a design and test engineer during the developmental years of computer hardware. His family remembers his enjoyment and love of fishing on Lake Champlain, hunting with his brother Bill, his grandchildren, traveling and refurbishing old electronics, clocks and radios. Born in Newport on Jan. 1, 1948, he was the son of Raymond and Ruth (Brown) LaMare. He graduated from Craftsbury Academy in 1965 and served his country with the Vermont National Guard. Leo enjoyed spending time with his family, grand- children and great-grandson. He also enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and camping. He worked in the area as a carpenter for many years.
