, 80, formerly of Island Pond, died in Waverly, Virginia, on April 4, 2010. She was born December 3, 1930, a daughter of Lillian Mae (Goff) Perry and Thomas Perry. She married Richard Vieria in 1953. They relocated from Massachusetts to Island Pond in 1972 to retire and to be close to Mrs. Vieria's parents. Island Pond is where she spent joyous days with their pet dog Buttons, numerous hours enjoying watching game shows on television, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and making crafts. Her true love was playing bingo several times a week. It was not uncommon for her granddaughters to spend several weeks of their summer vacation at Nana's house joining in the bingo games, and learning to knit and make crafts. Although it was a positive decision to relocate to the warmer climate in Florida in 2001, Mrs. Vieria found it difficult to be so far away from her family. She looked forward to her visits with the great-grandchildren, as they were often well overdue. After a near fatal surgery in 2004, it was necessary for her oldest daughter, Sandi, and her husband to relocate to Florida to care for her. She relocated to Waverly, Virginia, in 2009 as she began her battle with cancer and spent her final days with other family. She is survived by Richard Vieria of Zephyr Hills, Florida; daughters Sandra L. of Barton died on Sunday, May 2, 2010, after an unsuccessful struggle with cancer. She died peacefully at home with members of her family around her. Mrs. Voss was born on April 11, 1937, in Los Angeles, California, the youngest of five children of Marinus and Evelyn Feenstra. She grew up in Redlands, California, where she graduated from Redlands High School in 1954. She attended Hope College in Michigan for two years before marrying Howard Snyder with whom she had three children. During the marriage she lived in several places including Hawaii, Virginia, and Northern California before returning to Redlands after her Air Force husband retired. In 1981, she married David Voss. They spent the first 15 of their 29 years together in California before moving to Christ Church, Virginia, in 2006. Mrs. Voss is survived by her second husband; her two daughters, Holly and Kelly; her son, Philip; one granddaughter; four grandsons; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Ron and Kenneth; and her sister, Marilyn. She will be best remembered for her involvement in quilting, which began as a hobby but grew into a lifetime of artistic expression. Although she worked in several quilt stores where she taught quilting, she will be remembered for inspiring would-be quilters, many of whom became lifelong friends. Her knack for blending colors and fabrics into traditional quilt patterns was truly amazing as was the prodigious number of quilts she completed, most of which were given away to family members and friends. Several of her individually pieced and hand-quilted creations won prizes in quilt shows, but she was much more motivated to teach others to quilt than to win prizes. A memorial service in her honor will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Newport, where she and her husband had been members since moving to Vermont. Memorial contributions may be made on her behalf to the Orleans-Essex Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice, Inc., without whom her peaceful and untroubled passing would have been impossible.
