Harold John Birch, Sr
....show , 93, of Franklin Park, NJ, and Peacham, VT, died October 1, 2010 in New Jersey. He was born in New Brunswick, NJ, November 13, 1916, a son of Nelson and Katherine (Steinmacher) Birch, attened grammar school in New Brunswick and later graduated from New Brunswick High School. Following graduation, he worked for the Cronk Box Company in Highland Park. During World War II, his company made wooden boxes for the transport of war supplies to the troops in Europe. In 1942, the box company sent him to St. Johnsbury, to be near the ready supply of trees felled by the 1938 hurricane. While in Vermont he met and in 1943 married Frances Farrow. In 1950 he moved back to Franklin Park, NJ to work for Mr. Switzgable at the Ridge Door Company in Monmouth Jct., NJ. He continued with this company until his retirement in 1988 at age 72. After retiring, he spent his summers in Peacham and winters in New Jersey. He was a member of the Six Mile Run Reformed Church in Franklin Park since 1950, where he has served as a Deacon and Elder at various times. He also attended the Peacham Congregational Church. He was also a member of Washburn Lodge # 92 F&AM of Danville for more than 60 years. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Thelma Hoover and a grandson Trevor Jablonski. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Frances (Farrow) Birch of New Jersey and Peacham, four children Harold J. Birch, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Tennessee, Carol Jablonski and her husband Robert of New Jersey, Anita Vann and her husband Harry of Vermont, and Warren Birch and his wife Carmel of New Jersey; five grandchildren Clinton Birch and his wife Crystal, Brian Birch, Eric Jablonski and his wife Lisa, John Cappellano and Julie Cappellano and her husband Derek Whitaker; three great grandchildren Jake Jablonski and Caitlyn and Connor Birch, two brothers Nelson Birch and Ralph Birch and his wife Lillian, along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1 to 3 PM with the funeral service beginning at 2:30 PM at Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home, Milltown, NJ. There will also be a funeral service on Saturday, October 9th, at 11 AM in the Peacham Congregational Church, with Rev. Dr. Robert Potter officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Peacham Village Cemetery. Nathan Bradley "Nate" Minard
....show , 25, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at DHMC in Lebanon, following a tragic accident. Nate was doing what he loved to do most, riding dirt bikes with his best friend Jake. He was born in Hanover, NH on October 1, 1985, son of Theodore J. Minard, Jr. and Joyce (Smith) Colt.
Nate?s greatest passion was competing in hill climbs, racing cars, snowboarding and many other competitive sports. He had a love for New England sports specifically the Celtics, Bruins and Red Sox. Nate?s greatest gift and achievement was his art work that was displayed while in high school at Lebanon High School?s art shows. Nate continued creating art pieces for his own pleasure. He had a contagious smile and a terrific sense of humor that had the ability to make those around him laugh.
Predeceasing him in death was his grandfather Theodore J. Minard. Survivors include his Dad, Ted and Step-mother Brooke, step-sister, Hunter, step-brother Reign, his Mother, Joyce Colt and half-brother Christopher Cole, Paternal Grandmother, Jacqueline Dulac Minard, Aunt, Tricia Minard, Uncle, Jim Minard and Aunt Sheila Burrows and cousin, Katie Minard, and Paternal Great Grandparents, Francis and Lillian Dulac and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

....show , 62, of Woodsville Road, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010, surrounded by her loving family and friends after a very courageous five year battle with cancer. Sally was born in Littleton, NH, June 7, 1948, the daughter of Archie and Florence (Carpenter) Pelletier. She was adopted as an infant by Donald and Elsie (Burroughs) Hall. Sally lived in Monroe all her life and was a graduate of McIndoe Falls Academy, Class of 1968. She married William E. Dimick, Jr. on May 5, 1967. She was a homemaker and loving mother. She loved moose, bird watching, her beautiful flower gardens, playing games, going for rides, laughter, and funny jokes. She was a member of the Monroe Grange # 49 where she served as a Past Lecturer and Past Master. She was also a member of Pomona, State, and National Grange. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Adelma Foss. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, William E. Dimick, Jr. of Monroe; two daughters, Belinda Emmons and husband Keith of Barnet, VT and Mary Dimick and fianc Richard Fournier of McIndoe Falls, VT; a son, William E. Dimick, III and fianc Jennifer Labounty and her son, Dillion of Monroe, NH; two grandchildren, Micheal and Max Fournier; three brothers, Robert Pelletier and wife Sue of New Durham, NH, James McCabe of Murray, UT, and George Phillip Hall of Monroe; a sister in law, Marion Guertin of Manchester, CT; a brother in law, Jason Dimick and wife Suzie of Monroe; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a life long friend, Marla Caron of Monroe. David Ellis Johnson, Sr.
....show , 87, died October 17, 2010, at Brookside Nursing Home, White River Junction, VT following an extended illness. He was born in Swiftwater, NH, October 7, 1923, the son of David H. and Ethel (Tewksbury) Johnson. He graduated from Bath High School and entered the U.S. Army on March 17, 1943. He served with Battery D 776th Antiaircraft Artillery in Europe and was discharged as a Corporal on December 8, 1945. On July 26, 1949, Dave was one of 26 men who formed the Heavy Mortar Company, 195th Regimental Combat Team National Guard in North Haverhill. Of those eight original veterans, Dave was the last survivor. Dave was a life member of VFW Post # 5245 of North Haverhill, NH, and served as its Commander on two separate occasions. He was a member of the Woodsville United Methodist Church. He always enjoyed pitching horseshoes and woodworking. Dave was a self employed electrician and had also worked for Henry Hartley and George Huntington. He married the former Elsie Lamarre on August 12, 1943. Survivors include his wife of 67 years Elsie Johnson of Wells River, VT; a son, David E., Jr. and wife Kathryn of Woodsville, NH, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; a niece, several nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by two sons, Stephen E. and Gary A. Johnson, and two sisters, Margaret Estes and Mildred Smith. Leona Irene Foote
....show , 82, died on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, NH after a brave struggle with Alzheimer s. She was born on Trussel Road in Thetford Center, VT, April 23, 1928, the daughter of Harry and Helen (Savery) Paige. She grew up in Thetford Center attending Thetford schools and graduated from Thetford Academy in 1946. One week later, on June 14 she married the love of her life, Claude Robie Foote of Piermont, NH. In the early years, they worked and lived on logging jobs in the area. Leona and Claude lived briefly in Haverhill, NH, Newbury, VT, Piermont, and Center Harbor, NH before buying the Foote Farm, a family farm for five generations, in Warren, NH in 1952, where they lived the rest of their married life. Leona was a fiercely loyal and loving matriarch to her family. She took excellent care of her family and loved to cook, sew, and knit for people she cared for. Leona was a hard worker. When young, she did camp laundry, baby sat, and as a teenager she spent summers cooking for a family on the Ridge in Orford, NH. All her married life she opened her home to boarders and hunters. As a farm wife, she also picked up and delivered milk cans on her way to Hatch Dairy in Plymouth, NH. When her children were in high school she went to work as a cook and dietician at the Glencliff Home for the Elderly until her retirement after 20 years. Leona was an excellent business woman who did all the books for the farm, Claude s logging business, and their successful sugaring business. Leona was most proud of earning the prestigious Carlisle Trophy from the NH Sugar Makers Association for the best maple syrup in NH. Leona was devoted to her community. When her children were young, she was a Girl Scout leader and was involved in the PTA. She was a 50 plus year member of the Minerva Temple #40 of the Pythian Sisters in Warren, and held local and state offices. She had been a member of the Warren United Methodist Church since 1953 and was active in the Christmas Club and the Women s Fellowship. She was involved with many Town suppers over the years that raised money for good causes. She was a proud alumna of Thetford Academy, attending many alumni weekends and founder s days. Around 2004, Leona was a very active member of the family support group for Operation Iraqi Freedom, based out of Plymouth, NH, when her grandson was deployed. Leona s zest for life lead her to compete in horse and mule riding competitions and dog racing, travel to 48 States and 5 Canadian Provinces, and to be the first woman to ride a snowmachine to the top of Mt. Moosilauke. She was also a successful hunter. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Alvin Paige and Edwin Paige; and her son-in-law, Ralph Harlow. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Claude R. Foote of Warren, NH; a daughter, Jeanne I. Harlow of East Thetford, VT; a son, Charles A. Foote and wife Nancy of Glencliff, NH; six grandchildren, Jonathon Foote and wife Wanda of Wentworth, NH, Heather Sackett and husband Chuck of Warren, Wanda Vaughan and husband Jeff of East Thetford, Christine Busby and husband Paul of East Thetford, Drew Foote and wife Joye of Rumney, NH, and Buck Foote and wife Jen of Ashland, NH; four step grandchildren, Jamie Weikert of Bozeman, MT, Jeffrey Weikert and wife Melissa of Crestview, FL, Shannon Weikert of Florence, SC, and Jean Taggart of Medfield, MA; nine great grandchildren; a special niece Kim Cole and husband Bucky of Wells River, VT, whom she helped raise as a baby and stayed close to until her last days. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Lois Paige of Thetford Center, VT and Louise Kimball of North Haverhill; as well as many nieces and nephews. ....show , 25, died unexpectedly on October 22, 2010. Seth was born in Haverhill, NH on April 19, 1985, to Philip R. and Kimberly P. (Ramsay) Conrad. He was a graduate of the Class of 2003 from Woodsville High School and attended New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, NH. He worked for Orion Wire in North Haverhill, NH in shipping and receiving as well as with information technology. He also worked with previously for Steenburgh Auctioneers. Above all, Seth loved his family and their special family gatherings. He had a great passion for pets, especially German Shepherds and cats. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as swimming, off-roading and motorcycling. He loved watching all of the New England sports teams, reading, playing cards and playing video games, particularly Call of Duty, online with his brothers and his cousin, Chris. Seth was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, John M. Conrad, Jr. on January 28, 1987, his maternal grandfather Dale V. Ramsay on March 2, 2010, his uncle Thomas M. Conrad on September 28, 2005, and his cousin Kaitlyn R. Conrad on July 25, 2001. He is survived by his parents Phil and Kim Conrad of Pike; two brothers, Tyson Conrad of Tilton, NH and Ethan Conrad and wife Jessica of Penacook, NH; his paternal grandmother, Betty Conrad of Pike; his maternal grandmother, Estella Ramsay of Warren, NH; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his dear friend Marcia Belyea of Bath, NH. ....show , 87, died at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH on October 23, 2010. Reginald was born in Haverhill, NH, on April 15, 1923, to William Albert and Florence (Avery) Minshull, Sr. He served in the US Army during World War II from Feb. 24, 1943 until Jan. 4, 1946 and was a member of the Army National Guard until his Honorable Discharge in 1955. He worked as a self-employed building contractor and as a carpenter for other contractors in the area. Reginald belonged to the Ross Wood Post #20 of the American Legion in Woodsville and the Haverhill Memorial Post #5245 of the VFW. He was an avid reader and outdoor enthusiast who loved wildlife and walking in the woods. He was a builder and craftsman, well known for his great birdfeeders and birdhouses. He will be missed by all who knew him and admired his gentle manner. He will be remembered for his commitment to his country. Most of all, he will be remembered for his infectious laugh. He married Fernwood Aremburg in 1950 and she predeceased him in 1960. He was also predeceased by his two brothers, Richard Minshull on January 11, 2003 and William A. Minshull, Jr. on July 22, 2007. He is survived by his caring and devoted sister, Elizabeth Santaw of Ryegate, VT; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and longtime friends Phyllis Vogel and Janet Frazier, both of Newbury. David Worthen Choate, Sr.
....show , 87, a life long resident of Monroe, died at home with his wife and family by his side, on Saturday, October 23, 2010. David was born in Monroe on October 2, 1923, to Raymond and Glenna (King) Choate. David loved music his whole life, starting at age 9 with baritone horn lessons by George McClure. Seven of his siblings played also, nearly enough for their own band. At age 14, David was chosen as 1st baritone at the Allstate Music Festival in Burlington, VT. He continued with McClure s Band until his graduation from McIndoe Falls Academy. Like many of his generation, David answered the call to arms. Still he found time for music, playing popular tunes of the day with fellow servicemen while stationed in England. David manned a 50 caliber gun mounted on a halftrack for his unit, the 474th AAA Auto Weapons Battalion which participated in the invasion of Normandy, the St. Lo breakthrough, and the Battle of the Bulge. On June 24, 1943, he married Nellie Carter. Along with Nellie, David owned and operated the Sears Catalog Store in Woodsville, NH until retiring in 1988. David was a member of the Monroe Church and a former member of the Monroe Men s Club. As a member of the Woodsville-Wells River Rotary, he was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award. He was active as a manager of the McClure s Alumni Band. David enjoyed puttering around his home and property. He loved his family and his animals and enjoyed his cottage at Old Orchard Beach. He was predeceased by two sisters, Carolyn Stillings and Anna West and four brothers, Clifton, Erwin, Frank, and Emerson Choate. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nellie Choate of Monroe; five children, Sharon O Connor and husband Bill, Deane Moore and husband Don of Peacham, VT, Maurie Choate of Pahrump, NV, David W. Choate, Jr. and wife Mary Saucier Choate of Monroe, and Carter Erwin Choate and partner Dan Wheeler of Standish, ME; six grandchildren, Donald Moore, Jr. and wife Lisa of Peacham, Heather Hudson of Peacham, and Heidi Moore of Danville, VT, Lea Colleen O Connor, Amy Leigh O Connor, William John O Connor, Jr.; five great grandchildren, Jennifer and Donald Moore III, and Colton, Bailey and Pearl Hudson; a sister, Doris Blodgett of Littleton, NH; two brothers, Richard Choate of Lisbon, NH and Carroll Stub Choate of Twin Mountain, NH; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was born in Lowell, VT, November 28, 1919, a daughter of Bertrand and Viola (Smith) Powers. Hazel was a longtime Woodsville / North Haverhill resident and was formerly employed at Woodsville Industries and the Lisbon Shoe Factory. Hazel was predeceased by her first husband Gerald Morey on June 3, 1980, and her second husband Kenneth Wheeler on August 28, 2010, and brothers Archie Powers and Roger Powers, and a daughter Nancy Hazlett. ....show , 22, most recently of Boston, MA, died on October 24, 2010. Josh was born in Littleton, NH on March 27, 1988, to Jeffrey Alan and Jane Marie (Tuttle) Stimson. He was a 2006 graduate of Woodsville High School. He attended the Advanced Studies Program at St. Paul s for Mathematics. Josh majored in Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, for a year and a half prior to transferring to Boston University in 2008 and graduating from the School of Management in 2010. He had recently started to work for Accenture as an analyst in Boston. Josh enjoyed the outdoors, mixed martial arts, boxing, and golf. He played rugby at RPI, and helped establish competitive paintball teams at both colleges. He was on the ski team in high school and at both colleges. Josh played on consecutive Class S championship soccer teams. He had a keen interest in investing and served three internships with Bank of America in New York City. Josh operated his own web design business. He enjoyed wide variety of music and attended concerts frequently. He was an avid fan of all Boston sports. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents J. Forbes and Dorothy Tuttle and his paternal grandparents Erville and Roberta Stimson. Survivors include his parents Jeffrey and Jane Stimson of North Haverhill; two brothers, Jonathan F. and Jason C. James Mercer Lewis Sr
....show , 89, died on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the Grafton County Nursing Home following a period of failing health. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, March 7, 1921, the son of George Sherman and Frances C. (Peters) Lewis. He attended grammar school in Boston, and graduated from Mechanics Arts High School and Burdett Business College. Jim served as the co-owner, treasurer, and general manager of Lenk, Inc. Automotive Wholesale Distributors, an automotive parts business, around Boston and Alston, MA and Hartford, CT. Jim moved to the Haverhill area in 1962 and owned and operated the Woodsville Motel which is now the All Season s Motel in Woodsville, NH. He worked for 10 years as the sales manager for the North Country News Independent, retiring in 1988. Jim served on the Town of Haverhill Budget Committee and was a communicant of St. Joseph s Catholic Church in Woodsville, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Quincy, MA. He married Liberty M. Usle on April 29, 1944 and she predeceased him on June 30, 1996. He was also predeceased by a son, Stephen R. Lewis on October 9, 1988 and by a daughter, Linda Jewett on May 10, 2010. Later he married Mary Ann Dellinger on August 30, 1997. Survivors include his wife of 13 years, Mary Ann Lewis of Woodsville; a son, James M. Lewis, Jr, .and wife Alana of Littleton, NH; two step daughters, Deborah Russell of San Diego, CA, and Peg Wahl and husband Peter of Bennington, NH; two step sons, Walter Dellinger and wife Julie, and Chris Dellinger and wife Grace, both of North Haverhill; also eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. ....show , 83, died Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH. She was born in Barre, VT, May 2, 1927, the daughter of Charles and Faustina (Maker) Robar. She married Clarence Martin on November 24, 1945 and had seven children. She divorced and later remarried Donald Brigham on September 17, 1965 and together they had one child. Ruth worked as a cook for many years at Fric s Restaurant in Barre, VT. She later moved to White River Junction, VT, where she worked as a cashier at the Tally House and a hostess and cashier at Howard Johnson Restaurant. She moved to West Newbury in 1985 and retired shortly after. She loved to travel and meet people as well as visiting her family and grandchildren. She loved to travel back roads with her friends, and shopping. Ruth was a member of the West Newbury Congregational Church and West Newbury Women s Fellowship. She was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl Davis; three sisters, Esther Martin, Evangeline Lamphere, and Betty Cameron; and a brother, Frederick Robar. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Donald Brigham of West Newbury; her children, Charles Martin and his wife Doris of Barre, VT, Terry Martin and his wife Lynda of Thetford Center, VT, Cyndi Carbrello and her husband Rich of Palm Coast, FL, Carol Palmer of North Ferrisburg, VT, Barry Martin of West Lebanon, NH, Edward Martin of New Braunfels, Texas, and Peter D. Brigham of Seattle, Washington; many grandchildren and many great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Robert was born in Tremont, Illinois, March 3, 1935, the son of George T. and Annette (Blue) Lane. Bob served his country for 22 years with the U. S. Marine Corps and the U. S. Air Force. After his retirement from the U. S. military, he was employed with the U. S. Postal Service. He worked in the White River Junction, Vermont and in Wyoming postal facilities. Later, Bob worked for Burndys in North Haverhill, NH and at Wal-Mart in Littleton, NH prior to his retirement in 2008. He was a member of the Haverhill Memorial Post # 5245 of the VFW in North Haverhill and was a member of the Masons. He enjoyed reading, aviation, science fiction shows, watching television, and spending time in the outdoors in his gardens. He is survived by a daughter, Karla Chase and husband Preston of Landaff, NH; two sons, Bret Lane and wife Virginia of Dalton, NH and Shawn Lane and wife Elaine of Pelham, NH; twelve grandchildren and one great grandson; a brother, George T. (Learmouth) Locke and Raymond C. Locke Jr. Harold graduated from St. Johnsbury Trade School in St. Johnsbury, VT, class of 1967. He married Carrie Somers on January 9, 1988. Harold had worked for various trucking companies before starting his own trucking operation in 1983, hauling logs, pulp, and chips to mills in VT, NH, ME, NY, and Canada. Harold spent 5 years as an over the road truck driver leased on with his own truck for KNM Transport in Monroe, NH. He later went back to hauling logs to area mills. He enjoyed pickup truck pulling, trucking, and being at the garage with his friends telling stories . He was predeceased by his father, Raymond Charles Locke, Jr. on February 24, 1993 and his aunt, Ann Langmaid. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Carrie (Somers) Dunbar of Barnet; a son, John Harold Dunbar, of Barnet; his mother, Phyllis Locke and step father, Dale Kendall of Barnet; a sister, Janet R. He was born in Brockton, MA, March 6, 1933, a son of Lawrence Morton and Marguerite (Palmer) Nelson. Larry graduated from Brockton High School and earned an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University, Boston. He worked as a civil engineer for the Division of Waterways for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, retiring in 1970. Larry married Bertha Betty Clinton on Nov. 4, 1982. He was a custom builder in Southern N. H. for many years and built their own home on Hall s Lake Road in 1977. Larry and Betty moved to Newbury in 1980. Locally, he was a custom builder and remodeler of homes in the early 1980 s. He served as the Lister for the Town of Newbury for over 16 years. He was a longtime member of the Lake Morey Country Club in Fairlee, VT. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts and Boy Scouts International. Larry enjoyed woodworking and spent countless hours building and remodeling his home and maintaining his property. He was predeceased by his parents, and two sisters, Carol Nelson and Margaret Picanzi. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Bertha Betty Nelson of Newbury; five sons, James Nelson and wife Ruth, Robert Nelson, Scott Nelson, Shawn Page and wife Rose Marie of Newbury, and Dennis Page and wife Renee of Tempe, AZ; four grandchildren, Jacqueline Laferriere, Zachary Page, Cameron Page, and Cassie Page; two sisters, his twin Joan Griffin of Orange Beach, CA, and Jean Kuel of Hooksett, NH; three brothers, Donald and Michael Nelson both of Brockton, MA, and Peter Nelson of Yarmouth, MA. Joel was born in Woodsville, NH on November 4, 1968 a son of Alfred Cuddy and Marie (Emmons) Dupuis. He was a 1986 graduate of Woodsville and went on to Keene State College where he majored in Business Administration graduating in 1990. He began a longtime employment with the Grafton County Deeds Office starting part time in July 1986 and then full time 1991. He served as the Register of Deeds from January 2003 until January 2007. He was elected to the Town of Haverhill Selectboard in March of 2007. He was predeceased by his mother, Marie in 1998 and his father Cuddy in 2008. Joel is survived by his brother Shawn Dupuis and sister in law Claudine of Gainesville, VA; a maternal aunt, Jeanette Albanese of Wilder, VT, along with numerous cousins. A lifelong area resident, Steve had worked in the construction and logging industries most of his working life and locally for Morrill Construction and Garys Fuels both of North Haverhill. He also ran his own trucking business in the area and for the past 10 years he has worked at Hatchland Farms of North Haverhill. Steve served with the United States Army National Guard during the Vietnam era. He was an active member at Ross-Wood American Legion Post # 20 of Woodsville and the American Legion Post in Lincoln, NH. He married Beatrice Smith on January 16, 1986. Survivors include his wife Bea of North Haverhill, a daughter, Stephanie Davis-Randall of Laconia, NH; four step children, Peter Smith of Mulberry, FL, Pam Mack, Robert Hanson, Jr. and Debra Hanson; a sister, Nancy Onfer of Constable, NY; a brother, Norman Davis of Beekmantown, NY; grandchildren, Mary Margaret, Marin, and Mark Jack Randall; and several nieces and cousins. John was born in London, England, March 13, 1943, the son of Reginald Walton and Florence Marie (Gilling) Vowles. He graduated from Dulwich College in London, England, where he studied Modern Languages. John served as a Captain with the British Armed Services in the Territorial Army for several years. In England, he worked as a Chartered Tax Advisor for Guiness Brewers. John moved with his family from England to Montreal, Canada in 1975. In Montreal, he worked for the Royal Bank of Canada. They moved from Montreal to the Upper Valley, living in Lebanon, where he worked for AMCA International as a tax consultant. Later he lived in Piermont, NH and then moved to Pike, NH in the mid 1990 s. While in Pike he was a personal tax advisor. John was an automobile enthusiast, history buff, and loved animals. He was predeceased by his parents, Reginald Walton and Florence Marie (Gilling) Vowles; and a son, Warren John Walton Vowles in 1998. Survivors include his son, Peter R. Vowles and wife Christy of Thetford, VT; a sister, Jane Durden-Vowles of Leicester, England; two step grandchildren, Sarah and Graham Batchelder; an aunt, Winifred Blackstaffe of Bromley Kent, England; two nieces, Lucy and Jennie; two nephews, William and Oliver; six great nieces and nephews; and two cousins, Michael and Christopher. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and St. Helenas Church in Enfield, NH.
She is survived by her husband, Gerard Lozeau, children, Richard Lozeau and his wife Carmen; Andrew Lozeau and his wife Shirley; Anthony Lozeau and his wife Francine; Marie Stebbins and her husband Stephen; Regina Gaudette and Denise Bean and her husband Dana; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; two sisters Regina Dauphinais and Lena Dauphinais and many nieces and nephews.

....show , 69, of Harrison Street, died on Monday, December 6, 2010, at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia. Junior was born in Haverhill, NH on March 29, 1941, to Orman Mann Red and Isabelle R. (Moulton) Thayer, Sr. He was a graduate of Haverhill Academy Class of 1960. Following high school, he drove the milk truck for his uncle, Harold Pete Thayer. Later, he worked for Camille Roy doing foundation work and for his uncle Irving Thayer on the farm. Junior married Alice Mae Murray on September 6, 1975. In 1978, they moved to Laconia where he worked for the Red Dunn Paving Company and AARM. For the past 24 years, he was a truck driver for All Metals Industries in Belmont, NH. Junior served in the National Guard out of the Woodsville Armory. In his younger years, he was active in 4-H. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He loved attending the North Haverhill Fair, especially the horse pulling events. He assisted with the Grafton County Holstein Association on the Bred Heifer sale. Junior always appreciated being with his father, driving around their farm. He was predeceased by his father, Red Thayer on October 30, 2006. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Alice Thayer of Laconia; three daughters, Angela Ricker of East Ryegate, VT, Allyson Hobby and husband J.P. of Laconia, and Aime McCrea and husband Brent of Laconia; a son, Pete Thayer and wife Michele of Piermont, NH; seven grandsons, Cody Ricker, Dalton Thayer, Jordan McCrea, Trevor Smas, Ryan McCrea, Bryce McCrea, and Nathan Hobby; his mother, Isabelle Thayer of North Haverhill, NH; his sister, Barbara Thayer Norcross of Haverhill, NH; his brothers, Wayne F. She married Joseph E. Desrosiers on August 7, 1961. She spent her early years in Nevada and had also lived in California and Utah. Joseph and Ethel settled in Barnet in 1979, where they purchased a dairy farm. Her interests included reading, cross word puzzles, and board games. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Wilma Hussey and Audrey Hussey; and two brothers, Thomas Hussey and James Hussey. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Joseph E. Desrosiers; a daughter, Dawn Onalfo and husband Len Ferrier of Brentwood, California; three grandsons, James Hernandez, Angelo Joseph Onalfo, and Michael Onalfo; nine great grandchildren; and two brothers, Richard Hussey of Reno, Nevada and Harry Hussey of Georgia. She was born January 24, 1931 in Warner, NH a daughter of Leonard and Julia (Prescott) Ordway. She grew up helping on the family farm, and after high school worked at the Cardigan Mountain School as a housewife for the Headmaster for a time before going to work at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital as a Nurses Aid. She married Thomas E. Neily, Sr. on December 21, 1972 and together they operated the Canaan Cash Market. She will be remembered by those that knew her as a very hard worker.
She was predeceased by her husband on September 20, 2007 and a brother Arthur Ordway.
She is survived by a son Richard Watkins of Canaan and a daughter Evelyn Young of Dorchester, NH; as well as three step children Martha Neily of Richmond, VA; Thomas Neily, Jr. also of Richmond, VA and Linda Ware of Canaan; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother Eddie Ordway of Warner, NH and many nieces and nephews.

Bertha was born in Bloomfield, CT, May 11, 1922, the daughter of John Frederick and Bertha K. (Hertzch) Lamb. She graduated from high school in Bloomfield, CT and then worked for Travelers Insurance in Hartford, CT for 18 years. Bertha married Arthur D. Hebebrand on August 29, 1959. They moved from Connecticut to North Haverhill, NH in 1960. They owned and operated the Hebebrand sawmill. A family run mill, everyone in the family worked around the sawmill, even Bertha. It allowed her to be outdoors and with her family. Along with having Hereford beef cattle, she enjoyed her cats and dogs that were around the farm. Bertha belonged to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses in Bath, NH. She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Arthur Hebebrand on October 17, 1993. Survivors include her daughter, Jeannette E. Hebebrand-Rings and husband George of Haverhill, NH; two sons, Arthur J. Hebebrand and Allen D. Hebebrand both of North Haverhill, NH; two grandchildren, Steven A. Wanamaker-Hebebrand and Janeen L. He graduated from Peacham Academy, Class of 1939 and attended Long Island School of Agriculture. On August 19, 1945, he married Vera Lillian Johnson. Together, they owned and operated the MacLeRoy Farm in West Barnet, a Tricentennial dairy farm that has been in the family since 1785. He was a long time Vermont Maple Sugar Producer. Joe was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Barnet at West Barnet, where he held numerous offices. He also served as a member of the Lakeview Grange of West Barnet, the Caledonia County Farm Bureau, Peacham Academy Alumni Association, and was a former Barnet selectman. He was predeceased by his wife, Vera Roy on August 31, 2009 and by his two brothers, Allan V. and Blake C. Roy. He is survived by his children, Patricia L.R. Willey and husband Duane of West Barnet, Bruce L. Roy and wife Catherine of West Barnet, Joanne R. Temple and husband David of East Burke, VT, Robert P. Henry was born in Bath, NH, on March 2, 1930, to William Henry and Leora Marguerite (Greenwood) Prue. He joined the US Army at the end of the Korean War, attained the rank of Corporal, and received his Honorable Discharge on March 26, 1960. Following his time in the service, he worked as a logger in Connecticut. Later, he worked as a self-employed contractor and carpenter and built a number of log homes in the area. Henry was a member of the First Congregational Church of Haverhill, UCC and served as a deacon for a number of years. He enjoyed woodworking and built various pieces of furniture for folks in the area. He also spent time bird-watching and flower gardening. Henry married Dorothy Sue Paige on August 3, 1957 and she predeceased him on April 26, 1996. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Teresa Ann Towne on June 4, 2002 and a brother, Robert M. Prue on December 1, 2005. He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Jean Prue and Carroll Chambers of Abingdon, MD and Lenora Lee Davidson and husband Harry of Haverhill; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Wyllian Thompson and Elaine Hill, both of Center Haverhill, NH; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. For many years he resided on the west coast and more recently lived Ossipee, NH and North Haverhill for the past four years. Franklin loved cooking and his faithful companion Red , a golden retriever. At Franklin s request there will be no services.

Arlene (Barnes) Perkins Eastman
....show , 87, died peacefully at her home on Witherspoon Road on Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Arlene was born in Topsham, VT, October 8, 1923, the daughter of Rolla and Myra (Jones) Barnes. She was a graduate of Groton High School and married Gordon Perkins on October 24, 1941. They purchased and operated the Hall Dairy farm in Ryegate Corner until his death on April 19, 1971. On July 8, 1976, Arlene married Carroll Tappy Eastman. They lived in Ryegate, and after retirement they enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. Arlene worked as a teacher aide at Blue Mountain School in Wells River for many years. She also worked for Gary and Jean Darling in Ryegate, as well as Chip and Carol Harris in North Haverhill taking care of their homes and children. She was an active member and trustee at the Ryegate Corner Presbyterian Church and was a past president of the Presbyterian Women. She also enjoyed serving as a volunteer for the Caledonia Hospice. Arlene received the Blue Mountain Grange Community Service Award and was presented with a lifetime membership to the Ryegate Historical Society. She had been an active leader in 4-H and was a member of the Vermont 251 Club. She always had an open door and mothered many over the years. She was predeceased by her first husband, Gordon Perkins on April 19, 1971; two sons, Gordon D. Perkins, Jr. and Richard Ricky Perkins on December 27, 2005; her second husband, Carroll Tappy Eastman on April 5, 2009; a grandson, Jeffrey G. Leonard on March 24, 1999; and four siblings, Clifford Barnes, Alton Barnes, Shirley Welch, and Ivis Minshull. She is survived by two daughters, Laura Clark and husband John of Williamstown, VT and Linda Leonard and husband Daniel of Ryegate Corner, VT; two sons, Gene Perkins and wife Nancy and Darryl Perkins and wife Dottie, both of Ryegate Corner; three step daughters, Ruth Hatch of South Ryegate, VT, Codie Gay Rockwood and husband Tim of Hartland, VT, and Lois Farley of Nashville, TN; two step sons, Dean Eastman and wife Pamela of Sutton, VT and Robert Eastman and wife Victoria of Port Orchard, WA; a sister Marie Amell of Claremont, NH; a brother George Barnes and wife Laura of Weathersfield, VT; a daughter in law, Phyllis Perkins of West Burke, VT; 17 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive family and friends on Sunday, January 2, 2011from 2 to 4 PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH 03785. A memorial service will be Monday, January 3, at 1 PM at the Ryegate Corner Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Dwight White officiating. Earl Shepard Haskell
....show , 80, died December 29, 2010 at his home on Old School House Road following a period of failing health. He was born in Groton, VT, February 1, 1930, a son of George and Vesta (Carpenter) Haskell. Earl was a gear shaper and a foreman in the cutter shop in Springfield, VT. Following his retirement he worked at the former Butson s Supermarket in Woodsville, NH and was a self-employed woodworker. Earl lived in Springfield for many years before returning to Newbury in the mid 1980s. He enjoyed woodworking, painting, singing and dancing, hunting, fishing at Ticklenaked Pond in Ryegate, VT, cooking and making pastries and gardening. He looked forward to his family s annual gathering for the pig roast and bean hole beans. Earl married the former Katherine M. Welch on June 25, 1949 and she predeceased him on June 7, 1996. He was also predeceased by a son Ronald E. Haskell on November 24, 1996, a great grandson Kody Smith, and his siblings Joyce Frost, Faye Jordan, Shirley Darling, and Glenn and Guy Haskell. Survivors include his wife Jean E. (Foster) Chase Haskell of Newbury, VT, to whom he was married on July 7, 2001; a daughter Lori Losee and husband Peter of North Springfield, VT; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two step sons, Brian Chase and Jon Chase, both of Newbury, VT; two brothers, Kent Haskell of Groton, VT and Vern Haskell of Olivebridge, NY; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at 2 PM at the South Ryegate Presbyterian Church with Pastor Candace Ricker officiating. John Paul Jack Spisak
....show , 76, of Littleton Road, died on Thursday, December 30, 2010, in Littleton Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness. John was born in New Haven, CT, on August 15, 1934, to John and Dorothy (Fortune) Spisak. Upon graduation from high school, John entered the US Navy and served during the Korean War doing ship navigation. After his discharge, he married Amy Arents on April 4, 1959. John owned and operated John Paul s Pub in West Haven, CT. After selling the Pub, he moved to Monroe. Later, he was a cook at the Merry Meadows Farm in Bradford, VT, retiring in 1999. John was a member of the Ross-Wood American Legion Post #20 of Woodsville, NH and of the VFW in St. Johnsbury, VT. He enjoyed cooking and gardening and was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan. His grandchildren loved him dearly and affectionately called him Poppie. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Amy Spisak of Monroe; two daughters, Deborah Sommo and husband Ronald of Clinton, CT and Jacqueline Lamothe and husband Norman of McIndoe Falls, VT; seven grandchildren, Les Clement, Ronald Sommo, Matt Sommo, Ashley Lamothe, Vinnie Sommo, Sam Lamothe and Cheryl Lamothe; a brother, Raymond Spisak of White River Junction, VT; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from 6-8 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 conducted by Father Jeffrey Statz. A graveside service will be held in the spring in the Monroe Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of one s choice.

Carolyn "Caddy" Boisvert
....show , 87, died Thursday, December 30, 2010 after a short illness. She was born on February 15, 1923 to the late John F. & Florence (Downer) McNamara in North Acton, MA. In 1924 her family moved to Meriden, NH. Carolyn graduated from Lebanon High School in 1941 and then attended Brattleboro Business Institute. She worked in the office of Cone Automatic Machine in Windsor, VT from 1942 to 1945. Later she worked in the office of the Treasurer of Kimball Union Academy of Meriden, NH.On July 7, 1945, she married Clement R. Boisvert. She worked 28 years in the office of H.W. Carter & Sons until they closed; she then worked for Mascoma Savings Bank until her retirement. In 2005 she relocated to Lugoff, SC and enjoyed extended visits with her other sons and families in NH and KS. Caddy enjoyed flowers, crossword puzzles, and visits with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by three sons Barry Boisvert (Mary Beth) of Hooksett, NH, Brian Boisvert (Robin) of Wilson, KS and David Boisvert (Kim) of Lugoff, SC, a brother John McNamara of Meriden, NH, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Clem (2005), brothers Basil McNamara and Ronald McNamara, and her sister Persis Barker. Calling hours will be 4pm - 6pm, Friday, February 4, 2011 at Ricker Funeral Homes & Crematory, 56 School Street, Lebanon, NH. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon on Saturday February 5, 2011 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Valley Cemetery.
