....show , 73, formerly of Willey Hill Road, died July 3, 2010, at Rowan Court Nursing Home, Barre, VT, following an extended illness. She was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, June 10, 1937, a daughter of Raymond and Leona (Cooper) Bijolle. For 42 years she worked at the Bradford Veneer and Panel Company in Bradford, VT. She was a member of the Topsham Presbyterian Church where she also sang in the church choir. She married Bert Johnson of April 10, 1959 and he predeceased her on February 28, 2005. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Raymond, Bobby, and Donnie Bijolle and a sister, Thelma Brault. Surviving family members include two sons Wade Johnson, Sr., and wife Debra of Groton, VT, and David Johnson and wife Betsy of West Corinth, VT; two daughters Arlene Johnson of North Haverhill, NH, and Beverly Sinclair and husband Marc of Bradford, VT; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; her mother Leona Bijolle of Dover, NH; three sisters Donna Caron of Fort Kent, ME, Dorothy McCorkle of Lakeland, FL, and Merilda Curtis of Dover, NH; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. The funeral service will be on Wednesday July 7, 2010, at 1 PM at the Topsham Presbyterian Church, Topsham, VT, with Rev. Dan Chamberland officiating. Robert C. Bud Chase
....show , 85, of Goose Lane died on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 in Woodsville, NH, after a period of failing health with his family by his side. He was the son of Forrest and Georgia (LaFrance) Chase, Sr. Bud served in Europe during World War II with the Army Air Corp. He married Noreen Stimson on July 24, 1950. He was a hard working man and in 1967 he inherited the family dairy farm known as the Chase Hill Farm in Bath, NH. Bud and his wife Noreen built the family farm into an award winning dairy operation. He was a director of the Grafton County Farm Bureau and served on several committees. He enjoyed being part of the selection committee for the Green Pastures award. This award picked the outstanding farmer of the year. Bud and Noreen had previously won the award in 1984. He was a director of the Grafton County Holstein Club. His love of the Lord was known and Bud and Noreen were founding members of Calvary Baptist Church in Woodsville. He attended faithfully and served on numerous boards and committees in the church for the past 60 years. Having served in Europe during World War II he was very proud to be a life member of the VFW Post #5245 of North Haverhill, NH. He also served as past vice commander of the post. He was predeceased by his son, Robert D. Chase (USMC) on December 24, 2006; and his siblings, Ruby Haberland, Rita Stimson, Catherine Porter, Forrest Chase, Jr. and William Chase. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Noreen (Stimson) Chase of Bath, NH; his six children, Pastor Steven Chase and wife Marietjie of Bernardston, MA, Peter Chase and wife Stacia of Newbury, VT, Bonnie Henson and husband Douglas of North Haverhill, NH, Sally Chase DeWitt of Glen-Allen, VA, Julie Keith and Rob Ellingwood of Littleton, NH, and Donna Chase of Houlton, ME; a daughter in law, Barbara Chase of Colrain, MA; 18 grandchildren, Dylan Chase, Ryan Chase, Christina Chase Kennedy, Stephanie Chase, Tyler Chase, Hannah Chase, Joshua Chase, Sarah Chase, Jonathan Chase, Josiah Chase, Lisa Chase, Nicholas Chase, Jonathan Henson, Justin Henson, Joy Henson, Alison Keith, Jack B. ....show , 89, passed away at Hanover Terrace Healthcare on Sunday July 25, 2010 at Hanover Terrace Healthcare while surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
She was born June 5, 1921 in Glens Falls, NY a daughter of the late Norman and Madeline (Long) Nadeau. Growing up her family moved several times from Whitehall, NY to Middlebury, VT, then to Bridport, VT and finally settling in White River Jct., VT. In her younger years she worked at Teddy?s Bar & Grille, J.J. Newbury in White River Jct, Shopping International and Dartmouth College before retiring in 1981. Elizabeth also owned and operated her own ceramic business for a time. She was married to Theron Wimett who was killed during World War II in 1945, she later married Charles Larabee who predeceased her in 1977 and then was married to Harold Flemming who predeceased her in 2004.
Elizabeth was a member of the Emblem Club, the Past Master of the Cascadnac Grange in Hartford, VT, a charter member of the Upper Valley Community Grange, Sacred Heart Church, and the Hartford Women?s Auxiliary Fire Department. She also enjoyed baking cakes, making candy and in her later years painting and making quilts which her children and grand children now have in their homes. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by four children Robert and his wife Glenna Wimett; Peter and his wife Sandy Wimett; David and his wife Marian Wimett; Sally Leavitt, two daughter-in-laws Pamela Larabee & Jean Bouchard, 21 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons William Wimett and Lawrence Larabee; two grandchildren Pamela and Rebecca Wimett; a brother John Nadeau and a sister Norma Jean Nadeau, a son in law Robert Levitt and a daughter in law Edith Wimett.

Dorothy graduated from Hingham High School in Hingham, Massachusetts. She married Harold Lovell in 1953. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, watching the birds, and was a lover of cats. She lived in Hingham from 1936 to 1956 and in New London, New Hampshire for 33 years before moving to North Haverhill in 1989. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Lovell on January 20, 1999; a brother, Frederick A. Deering, III; and a nephew, Frederick A. Deering, IV. Survivors include her two daughters, Kendra V. Hatch of North Haverhill and Amanda Lovell of Dorchester, Massachusetts; a son, Merton A. Rusty Lovell, II and his wife Debra of Concord, NH; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two nieces, one nephew, and several cousins. Meghan was born in Hyannis, MA, on January 30, 1984, to John Joseph and Tracy Jean (Smith) Foley. She was a graduate of Barnstable High School, Class of 2002. She attended Teikyo Post University and Middlesex Community College, both in Connecticut, and had received her Associate s Degree. Meghan had lived on the Page Farm in Pike for nearly four years with her children and fiance Jim Page. She enjoyed the mountains and open land that surrounded the farm and took strength from her family and the nature where she lived. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Arthur Alfred and Marilyn Jean Mammie Smith. She is survived by her parents John and Tracy Foley of West Hyannisport, MA; her fiance Jim Page of Pike; her son Lincoln Joseph Foster Page and step-daughter Autumn Marie Page both of Pike; her sister Amber Elizabeth Foley of West Hyannisport; her paternal grandparents William Joseph and Margaret Peggy (McDonald) Foley of South Boston, MA; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Navy during World War II. Myles was an engineer for the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroads. He has lived in Woodsville for the past ten years. He was predeceased by his two wives, Flora (Williams) Glasbrenner in 1963 and Marie (Cook) Glasbrenner in 1981; and his brother, John R. Glasbrenner. Survivors include his three daughters, Regina Treece and husband Robert of Sugar Grove, IL, Myrna Desmond of Conway, SC, and Sandra Scully and husband Robert of Coventry, RI; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren; and his companion, Rilla M. Beverly was born in Sweet Springs, MO, on March 4, 1939, to Harry and Fern (Schrankler) McCoy. She graduated from Bakersfield High School and from beauty school, both in California. In 1983, she moved to North Haverhill, NH. On July 15, 1984, she married Peter D. Zambon and in the mid 1990 s, they moved to Monroe. While in California, Beverly was employed as a hairdresser. While in New Hampshire, she managed Subway shops in both Woodsville and Littleton, retiring in 2001. Beverly belonged to a local quilters group. She also enjoyed freshwater stream and river fishing, as well as target shooting. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Peter Zambon of Monroe; three sons, Michael May of Boise, ID, Robert and Jeff May both of Hanford, CA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one stepson and two stepdaughters; a sister, Diana Sorce of Little Rock, AR; a brother, Bud McCoy of Arizona; a half brother Eugene McCoy of California; and several nieces and nephews. ....show , 81, died on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, NH. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, May 10, 1929, the son of Paul Carl and Jennie P. (Nelson) Carlson. Jean served with the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. He was a bus terminal driver in Chicago before returning to Glencliff, where he helped his father run Sky Top Apple Orchard. He loved music, especially the music from the Big Band Era, and played the drums for many years. He is survived by his sister Sylvia Newton and husband Robert of Warren, NH, two brothers, Robert Carlson of Birnamwood, WI, and Bruce Carlson and wife Sandra of Northwood, NH, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a graduate of Groveton, NH High School, and married Lawrence Aremburg on November 7, 1953. They lived in Connecticut where she was a department store clerk in Middletown and also worked for 26 years for the State of Connecticut at the State Hospital. Gerry moved to North Haverhill in 1989. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Haverhill and was also a member of the women s fellowship. She belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post# 5245 of North Haverhill, Cottage Hospital Auxiliary, and the New Hampshire Circle of Home and Family. For eight years she had volunteered at the Horse Meadow Senior Center and the Grafton County Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence on April 22, 1976. She is survived by three sisters, Mary Deering of Whitefield, NH, Dorothy Beliveau of Lancaster, NH, and Pearl Styles of Northumberland, NH; three brothers, Albert Breault of Durham, CT, Lester Breault of Berlin,VT, and Chester Breault of Groveton, NH; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She graduated from Haverhill Academy, Class of 1938. In the 1960 s, Harriett served as a postal clerk at the Haverhill Corner Post Office. She was a resident of Haverhill until marrying Charlie Thurston in the late 1960 s, when she moved to Bradford. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. While married to Charlie, the two of them enjoyed many hours of fishing at the camp on Norton Pond. She also loved to knit. She was predeceased by her two husbands, Edward B. Norcross in 1958 and Charles Thurston in 2002 and by two brothers, Harry M. Patridge, Jr. and Francis R. Chink Patridge. She is survived by her children Shirley Clement and husband David of Myrtle Beach, SC, Edward F. Norcross and Barbara of Haverhill, NH, Sandra M. Van Norden and husband Richard of Benton, NH, and Larry G. ....show , 73, died on August 19, 2010 at Concord Hospital in Concord, NH. He was born in Manchester, NH, on April 16, 1937, a son of Alton and Alice (Villemure) Johnson. He was educated in Manchester, the military, and through various colleges in California. Richard served in the New Hampshire National Guard and had retired from the United States Marine Corps where he was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. While in the Marine Corps he served as an Infantryman, a training NCO, a Drill Instructor, and as Assistant Brig Warden. He was a life member and officer of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marine Corps League, and Disabled American Veterans Association. Richard attended the Art Students League in New York City. He won high honors for his art work both in New Hampshire and on the West Coast. He was a charter member of the International Poetry Society and in Who s Who of Poetry. He was a charter member and founder of the Americana 1800 Adventure Club of Saugus, CA, where he also served as a National Rifle Association certified rifle, pistol, and shotgun instructor. He also served as a hunter safety instructor with the California Department of Fish and Game. While living in New Hampshire, Richard was a thirteen year member of the Governor s Independent Living Council and the state s Vocational Rehabilitation Advisory Committee. He was a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society Board of Trustees and Chapter Services Advisory Board. Richard also served a three year term as Selectman and three years as Road Commissioner in the Town of Warren, NH. For several years he has authored The Flip Side, a column in the North Country News. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Rebecca J. (Young) Johnson of Warren; his son, Richard Arthur Johnson of Apple Valley, CA; his sisters, Pauline (Rivet) Woodard of Manchester, NH, Jane (Rivet) Mason of Auburn, NH, and Patricia (Rivet) Georges of Winter Haven, FL; and a number of nephews and nieces. Ron was born in Haverhill, NH, on September 26, 1953, to Fred Richard and Ella B. (Bigelow) Lang. He attended Haverhill schools and graduated from Woodsville High School, Class of 1972. Ron worked as a sales representative for Casella Waste Management until his illness led to his retirement in July 2009. He was an avid outdoosrman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and skiing. He especially enjoyed family vacations to the Maine coast where he loved spending time on the beaches. For the past nine years, he had lived in Sunapee. He was predeceased by his father Fred R. Lang on November 7, 2003, and by his sister, Elaine Hope Lang on October 18, 2007. Ron is survived by his two children, Alicia Lang of Sharon, VT and Justin Lang of Thetford, VT; his mother Ella Lang of Haverhill; his brother Richard L. Lang of West Lebanon, NH; two nephews, two grandnieces, two grandnephews, several cousins, aunts, and uncles; and his dear special friend, Heather Melson of Sunapee. ....show , 86, formerly of Benton Road, died August 28, 2010, at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill. Ken was born on July 28, 1924, in Piermont, NH, a son of Fred Kenneth and Leona Margaret (Sawyer) Wheeler. He was educated in elementary school in Haverhill and Woodsville, NH. Upon leaving school he enlisted in the US Navy on December 14, 1943. He served on the USS Pivot, a minesweeper of Nad Falls Brooks, CA for 13 months in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He returned home to work at Glovers Farm in Bath, NH where he met and was married to Marjory Burbank for eighteen years prior to their divorce. He then moved to South Ryegate, VT to work for Kilfasset Farm. Later he worked for Newman Lumber Company where he met and then married Hazel (Powers) Morey on August 29, 1981. He then worked part time doing miscellaneous work for others and also worked for North Haverhill Agway. Ken was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed the outdoors and loved flower gardening. He was a member of the Ross-Wood American Legion Post #20 in Woodsville, the VFW Post # 5245 of North Haverhill, the First Congregational Church of Haverhill, UCC, and is a former member of the Bath Fire Department. He was predeceased by two sisters, Jeannette Thompson and Delphine Benzie and a brother Richard Wheeler. Ken is survived by his wife of 29 years, Hazel of North Haverhill; a daughter, Robin Boutin of Cataula, Georgia; a nephew, Steve Burbank of Bath; one grandson; one great granddaughter; a brother, Gordon Wheeler of Brattleboro, VT; four step children, Marilyn Kidder of Haverhill, Geraldine Paradie of Hudson, NH, Sheila Kidder of Henderson, TN, and Carol Bigelow of Payson, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. David drove truck for more than 40 accident free years and for 31 years he was an owner operator. He married Marjorie Hatch on October 12, 1963. David has always loved owning and restoring classic cars and Farmall tractors at his garage below his home. He enjoyed attending yearly classic car shows throughout New England and belonged to many car clubs. David will be remembered as a caring, kind, gentle, generous man. He was always concerned about his family and making sure that the needs of his wife, children, and family were taken care of. He was a member of the South Ryegate Presbyterian Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Norman Bone on January 12, 1986 and Maydene (Edwards) Bone on March 17, 2007. He was born in Lebanon, NH, April 23, 1938, the son of Peter and Bernice (Pudvah) Tegu. Lee graduated from Woodsville High School, Class of 1957. He served in the U. S. Air Force. Lee married Janet Page on September 2, 1959. They owned and operated the former Chat n Chew Drive-In Restaurant in Wells River, VT. In 1969 they purchased the Meadows Drive-In movie theater in Woodsville. They also operated the Blue Moon Drive-In in St. Johnsbury which was sold in 1985. They sold the Meadows Drive-In in 2005 after operating for many decades. He is predeceased by his parents, Peter and Bernice (Pudvah) Tegu; and a brother, John Tegu. Frank Bernard Stone
....show , 85, a longtime Barnet resident died September 3, 2010, at The Pines Rehabilitation and Health Center in Lyndonville, VT. He was born in Haverhill, NH, April 6, 1925 a son of Oscar and Gladys (Demerritt) Stone. Frank served in the U. S. Navy during World War II as a minesweeper clearing the area leading up to D-Day. He received a Purple Heart during this time. Frank was employed at Fairbanks Scales in St. Johnsbury, VT as a machinist for many years. He worked for Harold Dunbar in the plumbing business and also for Precision Machines in West Barnet. He bought and sold beef cows locally and had his own rubbish route in Barnet Village area. Frank served the Town of Barnet as the sexton of the Pleasant View Cemetery. He enjoyed working in his woodshop making Adirondack chairs, bird houses, and flower stands. Frank enjoyed traveling and made two trips to Alaska in recent years. He also liked watching golf on TV. He was predeceased by four sisters, Bessie Colbeth, Lillian Kimball, Rose MacIntyre, and Isabelle Miles, and a brother, Fred Stone. Surviving family includes two sons, Linwood Stone of Barnet, VT and Oscar Stone of Berwick, ME; three daughters, Sue Robinson of Barnet, Roberta Fontaine of South Berwick, ME and Dorothy Norton, both of Berwick, ME; five stepsons, Manice Corliss of Berwick, ME, Donald Corliss of New York, Richard Corliss, Richard Bryer of Concord, VT, and Everett Bryer of Schenectady, NY; four stepdaughters, Brenda Whitcher and Rebecca Towne, both of Woodsville, NH, Janice Robinson of Post Mills, VT, and Peggy Comstock of Missouri; two adopted children, Samantha Stone and Larry Stone; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jennie Mae (Raymond) Heath
....show , 93, of Pine Hill Road, died on September 7, 2010, at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH, following a period of failing health. Mae was born on August 20, 1917, in Leominster, Massachusetts, the second eldest of seven children of Joseph L. and Jenny Geneva (Palmer) Raymond. Mae attended schools in Claremont, N.H. She moved to Warren and lived with Marion Weeks and worked as a telephone operator in town. She met a Warren native, Elmer Heath and they were married on August 26, 1938. They lived several places in town before buying land on Water Street to build their home. Mae loved to knit and made many wonderful items for family and friends. She enjoyed hand work such as crocheting, cooking, and sewing. She was a leader in 4-H, boy scouts, girl scouts, Warren Grange, and the N.H. State Grange. Mae was a member of the VFW auxiliary, a 63 year member of Pythian Sisters Minerva Temple, the Asquamchumauke Snowmobile Club, and the Warren United Methodist Church. Some of her passions included camping, bingo, and visiting family in Florida. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Elmer H. Heath on April 10, 2002; a daughter, Trudy Lee in 1956; her six siblings, Joe, Ted, Guy, and Harry Raymond, Gertrude Raymond, and Eva (Raymond) King . She is survived by her children, Esther (Heath) McMillen and husband Cliff of St. Cloud, FL, Raymond Heath Sr. and wife Irma, Donna (Heath) Bagley and husband Donald Sr., and Arthur Heath and wife Kelly all of Warren; nine grandchildren, Raymond Heath Jr. and wife Becky of Warren, Charles Heath of Florida, Myrtie Hutchins of Virginia, David Heath and wife Sylvia of Warren, Donald Bagley, Jr. of Warren, Daniel Bagley and wife Lilly of Farmington, Maine, Rhonda Bloom and husband Bryan of Warren, Crystal Heath of Rumney, NH, and Christopher Hunter of Warren; eight great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Hollis was born in Groton, VT, on August 17, 1938, the son of George and Theresa (Legare) Vance. He graduated from Groton High School, Class of 1957 and served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. After discharge from the Army, he worked in the granite industry for 35 years. He also worked for the Village of Wells River, VT, for nine years. Hollis was married to Elizabeth Boyce in 1960 and they divorced in 1979. He lived with his companion, Elaine Cormier for 23 years. Hollis was a member of the Ross-Wood American Legion Post #20 and the DAV Commanders Club. Survivors include his four children Betty Wheeler and husband Chip of Fairfax, VT, Janet Vance and companion Jerry of Corinth, VT, Sharon Patenaude and husband Roy of Colchester, VT, and Harley Vance and wife Sharon of Wells River; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one sister, Anita Klucking of Gaylord, MN; four brothers, George R. Vance of Swanton, VT, Stuart L. Vance of Clearwater, FL, Richard A. Vance and wife Sue of Groton, and William F. Vance of Vernon, NY; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. ....show , 62, died peacefully at home September 11, 2010, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in St. Johnsbury, VT, June 23, 1948, a daughter of Aurelio Reggie and Charlotte (Chamberlin) Venturini and has been a lifelong Woodsville resident. She graduated from Woodsville High School, Class of 1966, and Sheldon Beauty Academy in Burlington, VT. As a cosmetologist she initially managed the Magic Mirror Beauty Shop in Brattleboro, VT and later worked with Carol Bigelow at Coiffeurs by Carol in North Haverhill. Most recently, until her retirement in February 2009, she worked at Alison s Beauty Salon in Woodsville. Linda was a Cub Scout leader in Woodsville, a member of the Woodsville Fire Department Auxiliary, and a Trustee of the Woodsville Public Library. She spent her spare time reading, doing handwork such as knitting, and working in her flower garden. She loved being on the go, traveling, and shopping with her girlfriends Roxanna, Dreamer, Jean, and Sylvia. For several years, with her husband Joe, they were able to spend part of the winter in Florida, and for many years she loved being at camp in Pittsburg. However, she cherished the time spent spoiling her children and grandchildren. Linda married Joseph Maccini on November 25, 1967. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Joseph Maccini of Woodsville; two sons Chuck Maccini and wife Amber, and their children Derek and Conner of West Bath, and Mark Maccini and wife Jennifer, and their children Calef, and twins Ellie and Merrick of Littleton; a sister Judith A. Savoy of Woodsville; and one niece Vicki Olsen and one nephew Jeff Clark, along with several cousins. ....show , 85, died on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at the Grafton County Nursing Home. He was born in Haverhill, NH, September 6, 1925, the son of Leon Heck and Mary (Plante) Bigelow. Lucky served with U.S. Army during World War II from June 1944 to May 1946. He married Alice Smith on October 10, 1947. Lucky worked for 40 years in the grain business. He worked for many local grain companies including Purina Grain Company in Bradford and St. Johnsbury, VT and also for Agway in North Haverhill. He was a member of the North Haverhill United Methodist Church, a charter member of the VFW Post 5245 of North Haverhill, Ross-Wood American Legion Post # 20 of Woodsville, NH, and was a former member of the North Haverhill Fire Department. Lucky and Alice enjoyed many years of camping in their motor home. He loved family gatherings and dancing. Lucky spent many hours watching horse pulling at the North Haverhill and Fryeburg Fairs. He was on the senior bowling league in Woodsville for many years. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Heather (Bigelow) Poor on January 31, 2010; three brothers, Frank Bigelow, Douglas Bum Bigelow, and Arthur Stub Bigelow. Maureen Casey Smith-Nininger
....show , eldest daughter of Gordon F. Smith and the late Nancy E. Adams Smith, long time resident of Barre, MA, died Monday, September 20, 2010 after a 14 year battle with cancer, one day short of her 54th birthday. Maureen was a 1974 graduate with honors of Quabbin Regional High school and a 1976 graduate with honors of Mount Wachusett Community College in the field of Criminal Justice. After graduating, Maureen worked for the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) in the White Mountains of N.H. From 1976-78, she worked as the first woman crew member on the AMC s backwoods hut construction crew. She was the first solo female winter caretaker of Zealand Falls Hut, from 1978-1979. It was during this time that Maureen met and married her husband of 31 years, John Ramsey Nininger, on September 16, 1979. After attending the Michigan School of Horseshoeing, John and Maureen settled in northeastern Vermont where together they founded The Wooden House Co., Ltd., now a nationally recognized log home building business. Later John and Maureen raised 2 daughters, Ida Rose and Nancy Kate. Maureen took on the full time job of home schooling both girls. Maureen was a long time active member of the West Newbury Congregational Church, serving on many of the church committees. More recently, she assisted her father in transitioning closer to her and her sister s family. Maureen s accomplishments also included starting her own horseshoeing business, training and logging with her own draft horse, and assistant teaching at Oxbow Vocational Center (now known as River Bend Career & Technical Center). Along with her father, 88 year old Gordon F. Smith now of W. Newbury, VT, Maureen is survived by her husband John Nininger of Newbury, VT, and two daughters: Ida Rose Nininger, a 2009 graduate with Honors of Butler University in Indianapolis, who after spending a year teaching in Mongolia is now a first year law student at Vermont Law School; and Nancy Kate Nininger a Dean s List student and junior at the University of New Haven, in New Haven, CT; a sister, Patricia Peters of Cornish, N.H.; two brothers, Gordon E. Smith of Falmouth, MA and Paul J. Smith of Paulina, OR; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. Eva was born in Barnet, VT, March 23, 1923, the daughter of Harry A. and Harriet (Cassady) Lackie, Sr. She graduated from Haverhill Academy, Class of 1941. Eva served with the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1953. She married Merwyn E. Pearl on December 4, 1954. Eva and Merwyn owned and operated Pearlmont Farm for many years. She was an excellent farm hand working beside her husband and family. She loved farming and enjoyed running the equipment on the daily operations around the farm such as haying and sugaring. She was very active in 4-H over the years with her children. Eva enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards. She also enjoyed crafts such as knitting and she had made numerous mittens over the years. She was an avid Red Sox fan. She was predeceased by three sisters, Phyllis Lackie, Arlene Swett and Shirley Cate; four brothers, Leslie, Harry Jr., Francis, and James Lackie. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Merwyn E. She was born in Haverhill, NH, March 9, 1935, the daughter of Vern H. and Joyce Irene (Haskell) Frost, Sr. Myrna was a graduate of Groton High School. She attended Barrington Bible College in Rhode Island. She worked for Word of Life Bible Institute from 1956 to 1959. She worked at the shoe shop in Woodsville, NH for 3 years. Along with being a caregiver for her mother, she typed and edited her mom s 9 published books. Myrna married Donald Wetmore on November 7, 1959. Her greatest love was raising her four daughters and spoiling her seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. She found her joy in baking sweets for others and playing the piano and assisting with music at Calvary Baptist Church. Above all else, she wanted her life to honor and glorify her Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she loved with all her heart. She was predeceased by her parents, Vern H. Frost, Sr. on December 11, 1990 and Joyce Irene Haskell on June 12, 1998; a grandson, William Scott Quelch on April 7, 1993; and a brother, Vern H.
