Jean Adkins
....show , 87, of Maple Hill Road in Marshfield died at her home on Sunday, January 10, 2010.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 5, 1922, the daughter of Arthur and Anna (Kuzcek) Zubov.
On May 4, 1947, she married Lorato Adkins.
Survivors include two daughters, April Adkins of Tasmania, Australia and Lorita Adkins of Plainfield, VT; two sons, Adrian Adkins and Larry Adkins, both of Chicago, IL.
A private memorial service has been held.

Rose "Rosie" Marie Ainsworth
....show , 56, of Three Mile Bridge Road, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
Rosie was born in St. Albans, Vermont on February 11, 1953. She was raised in Enosburg Falls, Vermont by her parents Charles and Madeline (Lackey) Burns. Rosie met the love of her life, Peter Ainsworth of Middlesex, Vermont through her sister, Irene and Wilfred Bedore. Pete and Rosie later married on July 10, 1971.
Rosie always put her family first. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother with a great sense of humor. If you came to visit, you better be prepared to be "picked on." She had a nickname for many family members and close friends. She was very passionate about several things including: her grandchildren, her son's racing career, and the family business, Pete's Auto where she was known as "the boss".
When Rosie wasn't working in the shop, playing with her granddaughters, or rooting her son on at Thunder Road, you could find her cooking great meals in the kitchen, growing beautiful roses in her gardens, or decorating the house for the holidays.
Rosie is survived by her husband of 39 years, Peter of Middlesex; her daughter Nichole Hallock and her husband Brad of Williamstown, their daughters Emma-Lee and Elizabeth; her son Peter Ainsworth, Jr. and his wife Mary Jane of Berlin; her six sisters: Elizabeth Billow and her companion Gordon Thompson of Enosburg Falls, Irene Bedore and her husband Wilfred of Berlin, Theresa Gilbar and her husband Sherman of Richford, Bonnie Winot and her husband Ronnie of Enosburg Falls, Joyce Ouellette and her husband Joe of Milton, Brenda Jewett and her husband Michael of Richford; her three brothers: Robert Burns and his companion Mary Babb of Enosburg Falls, Jim Burns and his wife Dale of Enosburg Falls, Bradley Burns and his companion Tracey Ingel of Enosburg Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
Rosie was predeceased by her parents Charles and Madeline Burns, her son Wendell Ainsworth, her brother David Burns and his wife Claire.
There will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 12:00 pm, Saturday, January 23, 2010 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Montpelier. A reception will follow after the Mass in the parish hall. Burial will be held at a later date.

Luis Cipriano Amor
....show , 81, died Friday, October 29,2010 at Rowan Court in Barre, VT. Born in Montpelier, on September 29, 1927, he was the son of Cipriano Victor and Maria Maza Amor. Luis was a graduate of St. Michael's High School in Montpelier. He joined the U.S. Army after graduation and later apprenticed with his father at Anderson-Freiberg Granite in Barre as a toolmaker/blacksmith. Luis enjoyed hunting, traveling, and sports as a young man. He especially enjoyed watching Yankee baseball games. He is survived by his sisters, Amparo Amor Bliss of Montpelier, VT. and Dolores Amor Monks of Andover, MA. as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Isabel Amor Irwin of Kittery, ME.
A private family burial will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010, in the Berlin Cemetery.
Guy G. Amundsen
....show of Moretown, Vermont died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 14, 2010 while engaged in an activity he loved dearly - cross-country skiing at Ole's Cross Country Center in Warren, Vermont. He was 72 years old.
Guy was born September 15, 1937 in Norwalk, Connecticut to Roland and Elma (Northrop) Amundsen. He was educated by the Norwalk school system and graduated from Norwalk High School in the class of 1955. After completing his education, he entered the United States Marine Corps, where he served for four years, eventually achieving the rank of sergeant.
Guy spent most of his adult life as a salesman in the import automobile business, primarily employed by ToyotaNorth in Mt. Kisco, New York, where he was awarded highest honors for sales by the national office, Toyota Sales.
In 1984, Guy moved to Vermont to be closer to Alpine skiing. This is when he also took up Nordic skiing and became deeply involved in cross-country activities. In 2000, he was hired by Ole's Cross Country Center after earning certification from the Professional Ski Instructors of America. Also in 2000, Guy began participating regularly in cycling events that raised funds to find a cure for MS.
His hobbies include skiing, both Nordic and Alpine, sports car racing, and cycling. He was the president of the Norwalk Ski Club and presided over the club's decision to emphasize a family atmosphere and encourage families to participate in club activities. Guy was also an enthusiastic volunteer who freely and willingly gave his time to many causes, especially athletic events.
Survivors include his life companion, Ann Rago; his sister Pamela Smith, nieces Michele Brescia, Laura Luizzi and Leslie Smith, and nephews Tim Allen and Jonathan Allen. He was predeceased by sisters Lynn Jennings and Sally Allen.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on January 24, 2010 at 3:30pm at Ole's Cross Country Ski Area in Warren. All who knew and loved Guy are welcome to attend. There will be a short ski in Guy's honor for those who want to join in.

Sherri E. Austin
....show , wonderful mother and grandmother, much-loved sister and daughter, incredible friend, and an amazingly brave and independent woman, died Saturday, July 30th surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Sherri was born Cheryl Elaine Austin, August 12, 1950 in Montpelier to Daniel and Margaret (Minott) Austin. She attended Montpelier schools and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1969. On August 19, 1972 she married Michael Emmons. During their marriage they had a son, Brian Emmons, born in December of 1976. They later divorced.
Sherri worked for the United States Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for over 30 years. She enjoyed her work as well as the people she worked with and developed many wonderful friendships over the years.
Sherri was a fun loving and active person who had many interests. She enjoyed taking trips with family and friends with the Maine Coast being one of her favorite destinations. Other trips to New Orleans, the US Virgin Islands, and out west inspired her to dream of future travel. Kayaking, gardening in her flower gardens, biking, snowshoeing, walking with friends, motorcycling, and swimming were some of her other many interests. Most of all she adored spending time with her two young granddaughters, Lea and Sylvia, who were her greatest joy. She took any opportunity to spend time with them, delighting in everything about them. An energetic Nana, she was always up for whatever they wanted to do, whether it was taking them for walks, endlessly running around the yard with them pushing them in their toy cars, or running up and down the ramp at the nearby post office with them. Sleepovers at Nana's house were also a much loved event.
Sherri leaves behind her son Brian Emmons, his wife Linda, and beloved granddaughters Lea and Sylvia of East Calais; her mother, Margaret Garcia of Montpelier; her siblings, Pamela Smith and her husband Jim of Barre; Terry Austin and his wife Jill Mckeon of Williamstown; Robert Austin and his wife Liz of Los Angeles, California; and Cindy Singleton and her husband David of East Calais; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Daniel Austin. Graveside service will be held Friday Aug. 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Warren Village Cemetery. Philip Paul Backus
....show , 59, of Three Mile Bridge Road, Middlesex, died at his home on Tuesday, October 26, 2010.
He was born in Montpelier on May 30, 1951, the son of Paul and Dorothy (Perkins) Backus. He graduated from Northfield High School in 1970.
Phil worked at the former Capital Market on Main Street in Montpelier for 20 years, then later for National Life as a Security Guard for 10 years.
Phil loved animals and NASCAR racing, he enjoyed walking and socializing with friends. He loved summers and going to beaches in Florida and Burlington.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Backus and her companion, Sumner Small; two brothers, Steven Backus and his companion Marijane Barber of Randolph, VT; and David Backus and his wife Judy of Northfield, VT; two nieces and one nephew.
He was predeceased by his father Paul H. Backus in 1978.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm on Friday, October 29th 2010 at the Berlin Corners Cemetery.

Norbert Bador
....show , 72, formerly of Worcester, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 at Rowan Court Health and Rehablitation Center in Barre, after a long illness.
He was born in Woodbury on August 26, 1938 to William and Madeline "Bailey" Bador. He attended school in Worcester.
He was married to Dorothy Burns, who predeceased him in 1966.
Norbert was a self employed contractor., a former member and director of Washington County Trappers Association and a member of the Elks Club.
He is survived by sons Cliff and Dennis Bador of Worcester., sisters Jennie, Sylvia and Kay; brothers Victor, Walter and Dennis; six grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was pre-deceased by a son, Scott, and a sister, Beverly.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Barber & Lanier Funeral Home , 139 Main St., Montpelier, VT.
Fernande (Fern) Blouin Barnes
....show , 86, of Montpelier, died on October 22, 2010 at the Central Vermont Medical Center with her three daughters at her bedside.
She was born in Websterville on May 12, 1924, the daughter of Elina (Crete) and Alvida Blouin. She attended East Cabot schools and graduated from St. Michaels High School in 1943.
On June 15, 1946 she married Thomas G. Barnes in Montpelier and they resided and raised their family in Middlesex. She was predeceased by her husband in 1971 and later moved to Independence Green in Montpelier, where she resided for 27 years. During the past three and a half years she lived at Heaton Woods in Montpelier.
Fern worked for the State of Vermont at the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Adoption Agency, and the Department of Corrections. She was an administrative assistant for a number of Commissioners, including Con Hogan and Kent Stoneman. She retired in 1986 after approximately 35 years.
After her retirement from the State of Vermont, she was an active volunteer in the RSVP program and worked in the Governor's office for several years.
Fern was a member of the Catholic Daughters and Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She was also a skilled painter, and has left a legacy of beautiful paintings for her family and friends. Knitting and sewing were also crafts she loved.
In addition to her husband, Fern was predeceased by her infant son, Thomas Jerome, her sisters Lorraine Blouin, Denise Dufresne , Rita Laperle, and by her brother Marcel Blouin.
She leaves behind three daughters: Nancy Morse of Weymouth, MA and her husband Robert, Sally Benvenuti of Barre Town and her husband David, and Susan Carey of Calais and her husband Conrad; five grandchildren: Tommy Morse of Weymouth, MA and his wife Betsy, Paul Morse of East Weymouth, MA, Brian Benvenuti of Albany, NY and his fiancé Kate Thomas, Amy Benvenuti of Brookline, MA, and Chris Carey of Calais and his girlfriend Ashley Hopkins; three great-grandchildren from Weymouth, MA: Jackson, Gabrielle, and Avery Morse.
She also leaves behind her siblings: Pauline Redmond of Montpelier and Roger Blouin of Barre Town and his wife Joyce, as well as many loving nieces and nephews, Heaton Woods caretakers, friends and neighbors.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 11:00am at St. Augustine's Church, 16 Barre Street in Montpelier. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in the Green Mount Cemetery in Montpelier.

Louise Pearl Barnes
....show , 89 , of Elm Street, Montpelier passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Woodridge Nursing Home.
She was born May 24, 1920 in Westfield, Massachusetts the daughter of Jabez and Pearle (Crawford) Barnes.
Louise attended schools in Montpelier and graduated from Montpelier High School and Johnson Normal School. She took advances studies at the University of Vermont and the University of Connecticut.
Louise taught school in Barnet and Putney, Vermont before spending 34 years as a teacher and Director of Reading in Springfield, Vermont. She was an exchange teacher in England for a period of time and retired after 41 years in education.
After her retirement she spent winters at her home in Briny Breezes in the Town of Boynton Beach, Florida. She was a volunteer in the library and her church there. She spent summers at her brother's home in Montpelier and much of this time was spent at her brother's camp at Curtis Pond. Louise loved it there and enjoyed having her family and friends join her there.
She leaves a brother, Robert Barnes of Montpelier; and nephews, Steven Bolles and his family of Fairlee and a Douglas Bolles of Barre, VT
Louise is predeceased by her sister, Shirley Bolles.
She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Bethany Church, Vermont Council on Reading, Washington County and Vermont State Teachers Association.
A grave side service for immediate family will be held at Cutler Cemetery, East Montpelier.

Geneva Rose Barney
....show , 92, of Heaton Woods, Montpelier died Friday, May 28, 2010 at her home. She was born on July 26, 1917 in Orleans, VT the daughter of Glenn A. Barney & Grace Edith (Croft) Barney.
Geneva attended school in Orleans and graduated from Orleans High School. She moved to Montpelier and worked at the Brown Derby Restaurant as waitress until she began her career at New England Telephone Company.
She retired after 40 years of service as a supervisor and as Chief Operator in Barre and Montpelier Offices. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and Telephone Pioneers of America.
Geneva was pre-deceased by her brothers Vernal, Cecil, Earl and Ralph and her long time friend, Howard E. Sweeney who died Jan 27, 1995.
She is survived by a few cousins and many friends. She will be missed profoundly by her friends and staff at Heaton Woods and by her former neighbors on Liberty Street.
Geneva loved Montpelier. She was an avid reader and a great
storyteller. While living at Heaton Woods Geneva participated in Janet Hewitt's writing group and discovered that putting pen to paper was a wonderful way to share her stories with a greater audience. She also loved going out to lunch with friends and was a firm believer that a
Margarita enhanced almost anything on the menu. She had a wicked and wonderful sense of humor and was a kind and generous soul. Nothing pleased her more than hosting a holiday cocktail party for all her friends at Heaton Woods. She enjoyed living there.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 2nd at St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 10:00 until 10:30 at Guare & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Orleans, VT.

Dan Bertrand
....show died Sunday Jan 31, 2010 at his home in New City, NY, in the presence of his children and grandchildren. His wife of 51 years, Patricia Flannery of Montpelier, VT predeceased him on Sept 12, 2008. He was born In Montpelier, VT in 1934, the son of Dr. George and Dolores Mallory Bertrand.
He is survived by his five children; Daniel, Jr and his wife Ellen of New City, Julie and her husband Col. Ray Coia of Camp Lejeune, N.C., David and Liza of San Diego, Douglas and his wife Marie of Stony Point, NY, and Mary Beth and her husband, Scott Brantner of Waldwick, NJ. Also his brother, Frederic and his wife, Elinor of Bonita Springs, FL; Sister-in-law Jeanie (Flannery) Ormsbee, Brother-in-law John Flannery and his wife Sandy, all of East Montpelier VT. Also grandchildren Kristen, Tony, Bobby, Brianne, Danielle, Tricia, Samantha, Richie, Kevin and Carly. Also many nieces and nephews.
Dan graduated from St. Michael's High in Montpelier in 1952 and Norwich University in 1956, where he was Captain of the Rifle Team. Following service in the U.S. Army as an Officer at FT Knox, he joined the VT State Police and was assigned to various Troops around the State. In 1962 he joined the FBI and served in field offices ranging from North Dakota to Virginia before being assigned to the New York City Office in 1968. At various times he was a supervisor of firearms Instruction, head of the Fugitive Squad, the Hostage Squad and the FBI SWAT team for the NYC Field Office. As Commander of the SWAT team he was responsible for many important operations including the 1982 capture of a Liberian supertanker that had been taken over by a mutinous crew off the coast of New Jersey. Also the clandestine transfer of the Shah and Empress of Iran from NY Hospital to Lockland AFB, Texas, a successful operation that earned him a personal commendation from President Carter. Following his retirement from the FBI after a 26 year career, he became the first national President of the FBI Agents Association.
In 1988 he joined the New City Volunteer Fire Dept and was an active member up to the time of his death. In addition to being a firefighter, he also led many fire safety programs and inspections. He and Patty also enjoyed the social occasions with their many friends In the Department. He was also a member of the Rockland County Shield Association, a fraternal organization of law enforcement officers.Dan and Pat enjoyed many trips to Atlantic City, and they enjoyed each other's company throughout their marriage. After her death it was evident that he missed her very much.
Dan was very, and justifiably, proud of his law enforcement and firefighting careers. However, when asked about his accomplishments, he would point to the picture taken at Patty's 75th birthday party, with he and Patty, their 5 children, 5 spouses, and 10 grandchildren and remarked, "That Is my greatest accomplishment".
The Higgins Funeral Home in New City is in charge of arrangements. There will be afternoon and evening calling hours from 2-4 and 7-9pm Tuesday, Feb 2, at the Higgins Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Feb 3, at l0:00 am at St. Augustine's Church in New City.

Worcester; Robert "Bob" Evans Blanchard
....show 73 died on December 23, 2010 after suffering several strokes. Bob was born in Windsor, VT on May 22, 1937 and leaves his wife of 49 years, Barbara Hamner Blanchard and sons Christopher of Palmer MA, Jonathan Lee of Worcester, VT Robert Evans, Jr. of Hartland, VT and his sister, Betty Blanchard Michael of North Ferrisburg, VT.
Bob leaves 5 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Col. Weston L. Blanchard and Ila Blow Blanchard.
Bob spent most of his life living all around the United States, one year in Hawaii and one year in Istanbul, Turkey with his animals and in and around the automotive business. Bob always had pets ranging from dogs and cats to horses , beef cattle and baby raccoons as attested to in photographs. His life in the automotive field included wrenching, owning a gas station, a peed shop, selling speed equipment all over New England out of New Jersey, and automobile sales.
Bob loved to play polo and fox hunt on his favorite horse, target shoot competitively and his native State of Vermont. Bob lived his life to the fullest and as he chose.
Burial will be scheduled in the Spring in Windsor, Vermont and a celebration of his life is being planned for May 29, 2011 at his home.
Napoleon Omer Blanchette
....show , 90, of 12 Edgewood Ave., Barre, died September 18 after a brief illness. He lived for 30 years with his daughter and son-in-law, Denise (Blanchette) and Daniel L. Pudvah, before moving to Woodridge Nursing Home earlier this year.
He was born May 2, 1920 in Berlin, N. H. one of ten children of Napoleon Blanchette, Sr. and Amanda (Gagne) Blanchette, eight of whom pre-deceased him: Florence; Irene; Blanche; Rene; Jeanette; Louis; Yvonne; and an infant girl. He was married to Antoinette Marcotte of Berlin, N.H. who pre-deceased him in 1962.
He moved to Hartford, CT to work in a Defense plant during World War II, following which he returned to work in the Gilman, VT Paper Mill. He moved to Montpelier in 1958 and for many years managed the Blind Artisan's Cafeteria at the State Administration Building.
He was a longtime member of St. Augustine Parish prior to moving to Barre, where he was a member of St. Monica Parish. He was a Fourth Degree member of the Charles Jasman Assembly of the Bishop Brady Council, Knights of Columbus.
His only surviving sibling is Henry Blanchette and his wife, Yvette of Manchester, N.H. Also surviving are his daughter Gloria Heidenreich and husband, James of East Corinth, daughter Pauline Copping and husband, Pete of Plainfield, son Raymond Blanchette and wife, Judy of Barre and daughter Denise Pudvah and husband Daniel of Barre. Also surviving are grandchildren Jeremy and Megan Heidenreich of Newmarket, N.H., Christopher and Jacqueline Heidenreich of Pennsylvania, Trace and Millie Heidenreich of North Carolina, Lara Heidenreich of New Hampshire, Ryan Copping of Plainfield, Antoinette and Alfredo Quinonez of Barre, Araminta and Alicia Pudvah of Barre. He was predeceased by granddaughter Amanda Pudvah of Barre. Surviving great-grandchildren are Connor and Daniel Heidenreich of Newmarket, N.H., Carolyn Rose Heidenreich of Pennsylvania and Joseph Quinonez of Barre. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family would like you to join us in celebrating that our dad is with the Lord who he has so loved all of his life.

Maria Nieves (Cano) Bond
....show , 86, of Dunpatrick Circle, Montpelier passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 19th 2010 with her beloved husband Bob and daughters Lisa and Shari by her side. "Ivis" was born in Websterville May 17, 1924 one of seven children born to Nieves and Jacinto Cano.
Ivis graduated Montpelier schools and began her career with AT&T as a switchboard operator and later supervisor for New England Telephone. She met her husband-to-be Bob at the Wayside Restaurant in Berlin. They wed at St. Augustine's Church May 29, 1954. In 1955 Ivis and Bob left Vermont to begin a new life in Tucson, Arizona where her eldest daughters, Linda and Shari, were born. After returning to Vermont in 1964, to be near family whom she missed dearly, her youngest daughter Lisa arrived.
Ivis and Bob traveled extensively, spending several months overseas with their daughter Linda and son-in-law Mark while Mark was stationed in Germany in the Army. During this trip, Ivis was thrilled to be able to visit Santander, Spain where her parents were born. Proud of her Spanish heritage, she loved speaking her first language with her beloved siblings and cousins.
In 1975 Ivis and Bob purchased their home at One Dunpatrick Circle where they resided for thirty-five years. Her daughter Lisa lovingly cared for her the last three and a half years until she entered Berlin Health and Rehab in September. Ivis fought a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Sadly, Ivis leaves behind her husband Bob and daughter Lisa of Montpelier, daughter Shari Bach of Barre, daughter Linda Visbeck and her husband Mark of Springfield, Virginia. Five grandchildren: William Visbeck, Patrick Visbeck, James Visbeck all of Springfield, Virginia, Vanessa Bach of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Mariah Bach and her fiancé Robert Keene of Barre. Sister Concha Buzzi and her husband Dario and cousin Angie Zorzi, reside in Montpelier. Ivis also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ivis was a long-time member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Telephone Pioneeers. She was predeceased by brothers Jacinto Cano, Louis Cano, Victor Cano, Stephen Cano and sister Vicenta Bordas.
A private viewing for the family will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 23rd at Guare & Sons Funeral Home in Montpelier, followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Church. Burial will be held in Berlin Cemetery.
Ramona J. Brown
....show , 65, of Graniteville Road died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at her home in Williamstown.
She was born on April 3, 1944 in Montpelier the daughter of Howard A. & Bernice (Sweeney) McQueen.
Ramona was married to William E. Brown on December 15, 1960 in Northfield.
She attended St. Michael's Grade School in Montpelier and graduated from Williamstown High School. Ramona worked for Vermont Mutual Insurance Company and Union Mutual Insurance Company of Montpelier; Rabbit Hollow Knitting Mill and Mayo Nursing Home both of Northfield. Ramona was a home maker and Mother raising 3 daughters. She enjoyed camping, fishing, motorcycle riding, crocheting, flower gardens, cake decorating and spending time with her family and friends.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and American Legion Auxiliary Unit #10.
Ramona is survived by her husband, Bill of Williamstown; daughters, Jeannie Brown of Barre, VT; Penny Brown of Barre, VT and Janice Brown of East Montpelier, VT; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was pre-deceased by her parents and three sisters, Delores Dunbar, Brenda Davis and Loretta Gerrish.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 am, Saturday, March 13th, from St. Augustine Catholic Church, Barre Street, Montpelier. A memorial reception will follow at The Canadian Club in Barre. Burial will be in Waterbury Center Cemetery at a later date.

Virginia J. Bunning
....show , 96, formerly of 171 Main Street, Montpelier, died Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the Woodridge Nursing Home.
She was born on November 29, 1913 in Cedarhurst, NY, the daughter of Frank R. and Eliza W. (Pettit) Jennings. She was educated in the Cedarhurst Elementary School and Lawrence High School on Long Island, NY. After High School she attended secretarial school where she received a secretarial certificate. Following her graduation Virginia worked for her parents at the F. R. Jennings Pharmacy, in Hewlett, NY, until April of 1943 when she enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. Virginia was honorably discharged from the Coast Guard in September of 1945.
On March 15, 1944, Virginia married Henry F. Bunning at her parents home on Long Island, NY. They made their home in Jamaica, NY from 1944 until 1973 when Henry passed away. She then moved to Cedarhurst, NY. In 1994 she moved to Montpelier to be closer to her Daughter, Son - in - law, and grandchildren.
Virginia was an active member of the Alter Guild and was recently honored at the Christ Church in Montpelier for her 75 years of involvement with the Guild. She had also been active in Victoria Congregational Church and Trinity-St. John's Church, both in NY. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Head of Women's Fellowship, a member of the Waves National, the Eastern Star, and the Vermont Association of the Blind.
Virginia was especially fond of Sunday dinners that she shared with her family, and will be greatly missed especially on Sundays.
She leaves behind her daughter, Dorothy Redmond, and her husband Mark of Montpelier; her son, Edward Bunning, and his wife Kathy of San Diego, CA; her grandson, Mark H. Redmond , his wife Jennifer, and their children Brian and Brenna of Jericho, Vermont;her grandson, David M. Redmond, his wife Marla and their children Matthew and Eliza of East Barre; and a sister, Marion Plantamura,of Newtown Square, PA as well as many nieces and nephews.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Henry, her brother, Theodore R. Jennings, her brother, David A. Jennings, her sister, Dorothy Charleton, her sister, Lois Kahkonen, and her grandson, Brian E. Redmond.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Christ Church in Montpelier.

Elva Belle Buska
....show age 82 of Marshfield, Vermont went to be with the Lord on September 5, 2010. She was surrounded with her family by her side in the comfort of her daughter's home in Michigan at her time of passing.
Elva was born January 4, 1928 in Hazel Park, Michigan, she was the third oldest child of Frederick & Eva (Hutchinson) LaPan, and stepdaughter of Bertha LaPan. She was a lifetime member of the Montpelier VFW Women's Auxiliary.
She received her education in Cumberland, Maine. Elva was employed for many years at the Coffee Corner, Fisherman's Galley and Wayside Restaurant before retiring to spend her time with her family. A few of her favorite pastimes were dancing, listening to music, playing cards, and especially spending quality time with her family & friends.
Elva married Myers (Pete) Buska on July 18, 1945 in Cumberland Center, Maine. They were married 56 years before he preceded her in death on October 8, 2001.
Elva is survived by her 5 children: Joseph (Lisa) Buska, Linda (Ken) McGregor, Debra (Roger) Bauer all from Michigan and Dennis Buska and David (Susan) Buska of Vermont, 14 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren. Other survivors include her siblings: Verniece (Henry) Royce of Vermont, Darlene (Edward) Leaor of New Hampshire, Jack (Kathleen) LaPan of Michigan, Gloria (Bud) Allen of California, Eva (Larry) Parks of Arizona, and Shirley (Ken) Morrison of California and her step mother Bertha LaPan of Massachusetts. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Elva was predeceased by her Mother & Father and also a brother Frederick LaPan Jr.
Calling hours will be Friday September 10, 2010 from 5.00 - 8.00 PM at Guare & Sons Funeral Home, Montpelier, VT.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday September 11, 2010 at 11.00 AM in Montpelier at Saint Augustine Catholic Church.
Burial will take place in Barre at Hope Cemetery immediately after the funeral mass.

Ira J. Bylow
....show entered into eternal rest on Wednesday May 19, 2010 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield MA.
Born in Barre, Vermont, he was the son of the late Vernon & Gladys Bylow. Ira leaves his loving wife of 59 years Consuelo (Gomez) Bylow, his brother-in-laws Ramon, Rudolf, Noel Gomez and his wife Jackie. Sister-in-laws Chiquita Gomez, Helen Gomez and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Vernon, Benjamin, Thelma, Ellen and Oland.
He graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre, received his Bachelors degree from American International College, his Masters Degree from Westfield State College and attended Graduate School at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
He began his career working for the Barre Recreation Department as an umpire for little league baseball and a basketball official for various high schools in Vermont. He was a social worker in Warehouse Point, Connecticut and for twenty eight years Ira was employed by the West Springfield School System as a Teacher and Guidance Counselor retiring in 1993. He had served as both president and treasurer of the School Adjustment Counselor Association.
He served in the United States Army from 1950 - 1952 and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church.
A private funeral will be entrusted to Guare and Sons Funeral Home, Montpelier, Vermont on Wednesday May 26th at twelve noon with internment at the Berlin Corners Cemetery.

Nettie, nickname "Nettles", Patricia Cacicio
....show , 82, long time resident of the Blanchard Block, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Berlin Health and Rehab Center.
She was born in Montpelier on November 21, 1927, the daughter of Michael and Victoria (Gecco) Cacicio. She attended Montpelier Elementary School.
For thirty years she worked for Reddy Plastic Company as a mold operator. After her retirement, she worked part time for Heney Reality as a custodian until the age of 80. She helped maintain different apartment buildings in Montpelier including the Blanchard Block.
She was known for growing sunflowers behind the Blanchard Block in Montpelier and was once featured in an article in the Times Argus. She was known by many as a "spitfire". A quality that many people were fond of.
Survivors include a sister, Irene Atkinson of Hudson, FL and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Norma Morse, Diane Eilena Morse, Sylvia Johnson, Delia Martin, Olga Martin, Michael Cacicio, and Joseph Cacicio.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at the Guare and Sons Funeral Home. Calling hours will begin at 10:00 am. Committal prayers will be offered immediately following the service at the Berlin Corners Cemetery.

Edward Matthias Cannon
....show , 83, of Upland Ave, died June 12, 2010 at home after spending the day visiting with his family.
He was born on December 19, 1926 in Northfield, VT, the son of John Alfred and Myrtle Ellen (Church) Cannon and attended schools in Northfield.
On November 6, 1954, he married Florence Messier in Northfield, VT. After the marriage ended, he married Mary (DeForge) Gilman on April 10, 1976 in Northfield, VT. Mary predeceased him on November 28, 2009.
He worked for Rock of Ages for 19 years in various positions, then drove delivery truck. After that he worked in the construction as a Explosive Specialist and helping to build many parts of the State of Vermont Interstate system to include Route 62 in Barre, Vermont. He retired from Bombardier as a crane operator in 1995. He was a life time member of Post 709 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Montpelier, VT.
On February 27, 1945 he enlisted into the United States Army during World War II serving in the Pacific Theater, then transitioned into the Army Air Force on March 6, 1946. He was honorably discharged on December 5, 1946.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Hannigan of Barre and step daughter, Anne Wilson of New Hampshire; sons, Joseph Cannon of Barre and James Cannon of Northfield Falls; steps sons, Steven Gilman of Berlin; Stanley Gilman of Florida; Michael Gilman of NH; Gary Gilman of Barre; and Brian Gilman of Barre; sister, Bertha Muennink of Northfield; 21 grand children, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two daughters, Helen Cannon and Susan Cannon; two brothers, Alan Cannon and Robert Cannon; three grandchildren, Randy Cannon, Natoshia Cannon, and Steven Gilman Jr.
Calling hours will be held at Guare & Sons Funeral Home on Thursday, June 17, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held 11:00 am on Friday, June 18, 2010 at St. Monica's Catholic Church.
Committal prayers and military honors will be offered at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery following the mass.
