passed Feb. 8, 2009, with his family close by, in the home he built in Underhill. He left this earth in the hands of his wife, Connie, who loves him without end. He is reunited with his mother, Arlene (Riggie) Walker, who passed in 1976. He is survived by his father Lawrence; wife Connie (Testut); son and daughter-in-law Ryan and Kelly; son and daughter-in-law Kyle and Catherine; granddaughter Ella; and daughter Stephanie. Born in his favorite town of Island Pond on March 16, 1943, Bobby grew up stoking fires in the steam engines in town, fishing Lewis Pond, and hunting out in Bloomfield. Bob enlisted in the US Army in August 1962 and spent most of his time working nuclear weapons in Germany. Following his service, "R.L." began a dedicated 28 year career at IBM, only missing work for two weeks during deer season each November. In 1968, he and his father built camp. It was always his refuge, and "a nice place to be." Bob married Connie in 1975 and together they raised their family. Dad loved enjoying the simple things of life - his family, the sunshine, and making a good batch of baked beans. All the same, he was never able to stop working. In his ceaseless tradition, Bobby found his choice retirement job at Smuggler's Notch, where he was able to work and share his trades with many of his friends. Dad's talents covered everything and he always had an answer for each question we could conjure. He generously gave his time to the Brighton Fire Department, the Shriners, and the American Legion. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA, an FFL carrier, and a proud Vermonter who believed in the principals this Country was founded on over 200 years ago. Dad was a Firing Squad Commander and led decoration details in Island Pond, participating in countless Independence Day parades, Memorial Day parades, and memorial services. Bob leaves a legacy for us all - his spirit resides with the Lord and is present with all of us. His earthly body lives on through his children and grandchildren. A Catholic service is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 14, at noon, at St. James Catholic Church in Island Pond, with reception to follow at American Legion Brighton Post #80. To Bob/Dad/Papa - We will always love you.
