, age 51, of Richmond, died at his home on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008. He was born in New York City on Nov. 8, 1957, the son of Claire Tuohy Reiner and the late Vincent Karl Reiner. He received a BA from Queens College and an MBA from Georgia State University. Keith started his career in hospitality finance in Atlanta, and later worked for Swissôtel in Atlanta, Boston, and Zurich Switzerland before joining Ritz Carlton, Kapalua HI. He married Denise Sullivan in 1991; they had three children. In 2000 he and his family moved to Vermont, to become CFO for The Garrett Hotel Group in Burlington, where he oversaw all financial operations of the holding corporation and for five exclusive hotels and restaurants. Keith is survived by his mother Claire, brother Vincent, both of Queens, N.Y.; former wife Denise Sullivan, his beloved three children Erin, Michael, and Emma of East Montpelier, his close friend Sandy Kapsalis of Shelburne and close friends he considered brothers for life. Keith derived his greatest joy from his children, traveling many miles to attend their concerts, sporting events, and school functions. He very much appreciated Vermont's considerable beauty through canoeing, climbing mountains and skiing, enjoyed yoga and classic movies, and was a Monty Python fan of long standing. As a way to give back to this community that had become his own, he volunteered his time and financial expertis to J.u.M.P., a local charitable ministry organization. Irene Mildred (Lynaugh) Bishop

died suddenly on Jan. 1, 2009. She was born April 15, 1939, in Concord to Harland and Goldie Lynaugh. She is survived by her husband, Lee Edgar Bishop. Lee and Irene were married on March 22, 1958. hey resided in Passumpsic until 1974, when they moved to Concord where they have made their home for the last 35 years. She was a school bus driver for the town of Barnet and then worked at A&P in St. Johnsbury until they closed. She was a faithful employee to Fairbanks Scales until her retirement in 1996. Irene was known for her fudge at Christmas time, her favorite time of the year. She and her husband Lee always decorated their house (The Gingerbread House) in Concord and loved being surrounded by their family and friends. She enjoyed staying at their camp in Granby and working in her flower gardens. She especially loved exercising with "The Girls," who were some of her closest and dearest friends. She was also known for her generosity and kindheartedness. She was a great wife, mom, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be missed dearly. Irene is survived by her husband Lee of 50 years (PO Box 262 Concord, VT 05824); their three children, Diana Bishop Merrick, Andrew Todd Bishop and wife Jane, and Susan Bishop Morse and her husband Mike; a sister, Leona Nichols; her grandchildren, Cassie and Johnny Merrick, Anne-Marie Bishop Gasiorowski and husband Michael, Andrea and Christopher Bishop, Jennifer Perry and Fred Kiefer; great-grandchildren Kyla, Hailey and John Michael Gasiorowski; Isaiah Clogston, and Bethany and Shelby Kiefer. She is also survived by her niece, Marilyn Eldred, who was like a daughter to her, and many other relatives too numerous to mention. She was predeceased by her mother and father Goldie and Harland Lynaugh, two sisters Viola and Albertie and a brother, Archie Baird. She touched many hearts in her lifetime. , 92, of St. Johnsbury, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center, after an extended illness. Phyllis was born in Haverhill, N.H., May 1, 1916, the daughter of Harry A. and Amy (Morrill) Willey. She formerly worked at the East Corinth Bobbin Mill, Bradford Veneer Company, Channell Mills and Sprague Electric. Phyllis lived in the Bradford and Corinth area most of her life, until she moved to Concord, Vt., in 1995 to be nearer to her son, John. She was predeceased her husband, Phil Hood; three daughters, Phyllis Minshul on Jan. 24, 2005, Marion E. Deschamps on April 23, 2006, and Marjorie Salomaa on Aug., 28, 2008; a son, Harry A. Oliver on Oct. 24, 2002; and by her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Betty Madden of North Port, Fla., and Nancy Bean of Saratoga, N.Y.; her sons, John S. Oliver of Concord, Vt., and George W. Oliver of East Corinth, Vt.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on June 20, at 11 a.m., in Pine Grove Cemetery, Swiftwater Road, Woodsville, NH. , born Donald James Singer, born in Bethel, Conn., Nov. 19, 1929, the son of the late John and Mary Singer of Danbury, Conn., died Dec. 31, 2008, at his home in East Burke, Vt., with his loving wife, Victoria, at his side. Kurt received a B.S. from Western Connecticut State University and an M.A. from Yale, where he was a John Hay Fellow and a Fellow of Calhoun College. Kurt joined the faculty of Lyndon State College in 1964 where he was the American Literature specialist and also taught Advanced Composition, Shakespeare, Modern Fiction and Modern Poetry. He served as chairman of the English department for many years, retiring in 2002. In 2007, the Vermont State Colleges board of trustees conferred emeritus status upon him. Kurt was a poet and had published a number of collections, including: "Lyrics, Laments, and Some Words for Dead Americans," "Widows" and "Aging and Other Poems." He is survived by his wife, Victoria of East Burke, Vt.; his first wife Dorothy Singer of South Burlington, Vt.; and five children, Lisa and her husband Ken Miller of Jericho, Vt., Haydn Singer of Colchester, Vt., Erika and her husband Tom Reeves of Newtown, Conn., Tristan Singer of Essex, Vt. and Stephanie Singer of Burlington, Vt.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother John Singer, age 85, of Riverdale, Ga.; and his grandson Mark Reeves, age 8, of Jericho. It was Kurt's request that there be no funeral service. , 74, of Springfield, Mass., and formerly of Enfield, Conn., entered into eternal rest on Wednesday Dec. 31, 2008, in Mercy Medical Center with her family by her side. Bea was born in St. Johnsburry, Vt., on Jan. 30, 1934, a daughter of the late Chester "Chet" and Margaret "Pat" (Lamontagne) Buck. She graduated from St. Johnsburry Academy and retired from WESTVACO Envelope Division (1978-1996) in Springfield, and had worked prior at W.T. Grant Company in Enfield, and Springfield. Bea was a member of the Moose Club in St. Johnsburry. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading (especially the Harry Potter series), her Sunday morning lottery tickets, computer games, traveling, her high school reunions, and shopping. Bea enjoyed life, but received the most enjoyment when she was with her family and friends. Bea is survived to cherish her memory by her loving and devoted husband of 33 years, Stanley W. Vilakis; three cherished children, Toni A. Buck of Enfield, Vikki J. Stokes of Chicopee, Mass., and Marc E. Burrington and his wife Vicky of Sheldon, Iowa; seven cherished grandchildren, Kevin, Robert, Richard, Kelly, Matthew, Shawn, and Daniel; eight cherished great-grandchildren, Dawn, Austin, Joseph, Aiden, Tristen, Donovan, Kaliegh, and Tyler; five siblings, James Buck and his wife Linda, Thomas Buck and his wife Ginny, David Buck and his wife Louise, Dayne Rae Hall, all of Vermont, and Debra Chase and her husband Mark of New Hampshire; three brothers-in-law, James Vilakis and his wife Mary of Maine, Charles Vilakis and his wife Rachel of Blandford, Mass., and Ronald Vilakis of Springfield; her former husband, Robert R. Burrington of Saxton, Pa.; many nieces, nephews and close friends; and her beloved dog and cat, Pepper and Buffer. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Tracie Crisetelli; and a brother, Richard Buck. , 98, longtime resident of South Main Street in St. Johnsbury, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, with family at her side. She had resided at the St. Johnsbury Health & Rehab Center since February of 2006. She was born in St. Johnsbury on Sept. 5, 1910, one of 14 children born to Arthur and Serena (Webber) Wilkins. Her husband John passed away on Oct. 10, 1983. She was also predeceased by an infant son David. Grace graduated from Brightlook Hospital as a registered nurse. She served as night supervisor there for many years. She finished her nursing career with Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital and retired in the mid 1970s. She is survived by five children: Betty Remick and husband Gene of Danville, Janice Wakeham of Danville, Barbara Daniels and husband Rodney of St. Johnsbury, Edward Wakeham and longtime companion Kathy Mackenzie of Virginia Beach, Va., Reginald Wakeham and wife Patty of St. Johnsbury; 13 grandchildren; Paul, Nancy, Larry, and Mark; Michelle and Diane, Brian and David; Scott and Deborah; Cynthia, Cheryl, and Shawna; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and even one great-great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by her 13 brothers and sisters: six brothers: Lewis, George, Charles, Wilbur, Everett, and Harold Wilkins; and seven sisters: Marion Sheltra, Dorothy Bush, Florence Garfield, Winifred Norcross, Emily Coache, Evangeline Ouellette, and one as an infant. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Lyndon Center Cemetery on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Robert H. Sargent will officiate. There will be no public visiting hours. , 88, formerly of 130 Plain Road, West Dummer, N.H., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at Country Village in Lancaster, N.H. She was born in West Dummer, N.H., on March 3, 1920, the daughter of Eldin H. and Saloma (Leighton) Howland and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of the West Milan United Methodist Church, the West Milan Christian Women, was a correspondent for the Berlin Reporter for 34 years and was a former member of the Women's Aglow. Irene was an avid gardener and took pride in the vast amount of ribbons that she won over the years at the Lancaster Fair. She will always be remembered as a caretaker and as a hospitable community member. She will also be remembered for her quaintness and her use of proper etiquette. Members of the family include a sister Mrs. Ernestine Comeau of Lyndonville; nephews Gene Comeau of Lunenburg, Wayne Comeau and Lucien Comeau, both of Lyndonville; nieces Patricia Parks, Gloria Gammell and Robin Larocque, all of Lyndonville, Barbara Grant of Lisbon, N.H., Linda Brown and Donna Payette, both of St. Johnsbury. She was predeceased by her brothers Melvin, Alvin, Kermit, Jesse, Paul and Ernest Howland. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin, N.H. Spring burial will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery in West Dummer, N.H. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from noon to 1 p.m., prior to the service. , of East Concord, passed away at the age of 91 due to complications of Alzheimer's disease on Jan. 5, 2009, at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Aug. 4, 1917, in St. Johnsbury, Vt. On Sept. 26, 1937, Leslie and Phyllis E. Woodbury were married. Except for a brief time after first being married and for the last two years while receiving care in St. Johnsbury Leslie resided in East Concord. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Leslie attended East Concord Elementary School and Concord High School where he graduated and completed post graduate work. He also attended classes at Michigan State and Temple University. For many years he was employed at Gilman Paper Company and then was the foreman for the Cellucord Corporation in Gilman. He was later employed with the State of Vermont Departments of Employment and Unemployment and was manager of the Unemployment office in St. Johnsbury at the time of retirement. For several years both before and after retirement, Leslie wrote for The Coos County Democrat and The Caledonian-Record. He was a 60-year member of Moose River Lodge #82 Free & Accepted Masons, Haswell Chapter #11 Royal Arch Masons, Caledonia Council #1 Royal & Select Masons, Palestine Commandery #5 Knights Templar, Mount Sinai Shriners Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine and the Vermont Order of Eastern Star Adah Chapter #39. Leslie was also a member of the East Concord United Methodist Church and elected as member of the Concord School Board. Leslie often worked with other community volunteers on many projects and events. In 1934, as young man, he assisted other volunteers by using the family horses to help excavate a basement large enough for the "new" school in East Concord to have a gymnasium. He usually read newspapers from cover to cover and would often clip articles from them to save or give to others. His fondness of writing and frequent contributions to the "Caledonian" made his decision to accept the job with the state of Vermont difficult, since at the same time The Caledonian-Record Publishing Company had offered him a reporters job. Leslie and Phyllis worked to help establish the Concord Historical Society an organization in which he served many years as an officer. He and Phyllis usually worked at the Concord Historical Museum during the annual "open house." He was instrumental for and worked with the late Senator Graham S. Newhall of St. Johnsbury in having East Concord become the location for a Vermont Historical Sites marker. The marker was for Rev. George L. Fox. Rev. Fox was one of the four Chaplains who on the USS Dorchester in WWII gave up their life jackets to other soldiers. Rev. Fox's last sermon before entering the war was given at the East Concord United Methodist Church. Leslie worked to have Memorial Day Observances in East Concord that also included participation of the Grant-Nichols Fife and Drum Corps to continue a tradition since 1866. Leslie is survived by his wife of 71 years Phyllis E. (Woodbury) Briggs of East Concord; Lindsey A. Briggs and special friend Janet Blaisdell, Littleton, N.H.; Gary L Briggs and wife Linda (Deth) of Morrisville; a daughter, Janice (Briggs) Boulais of Plaistow, N.H.; a daughter-in-law, Noreen (Langsner) Briggs of Sacramento, Calif.; former son in law, Michael Boulais of Arizona; a twin brother Raymond Roach of Pooler, Ga., (as twins Leslie and Raymond were separated shortly after birth. At the age of 37 they were reunited on the stage of the CBS television show "I've Got A Secret"); grandchildren, Stephanie (Briggs) and Michael Lyons, of Norwich, Glenn and wife Kendice Briggs of Irvine, Calif., Sheila (Briggs) and Mark Scafine of San Mateo, Calif., Karen (Boulais) and Bruce Butler of Randolph, Laura (Boulais) and Brian Foley of Epping, N.H., Carlyle and wife Kami Boulais of Texas, Shawn Boulais of Plaistow, N.H., Rhonda (Boulais) and John Keough of Plaistow, N.H., Chad Briggs of Eden, Seth Briggs of Baltimore, Md.; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his father Horace C. Briggs; his mother Grace (Steere) Briggs; a sister Arlene Merriman; and a brother George Grant. Visiting hours will be held Friday evening Jan. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. Sister St. Dorothy

, FCSCJ (Gilberte Trottier), Daughter of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, passed away on Jan. 5, 2009, at Mount Sacred Heart Provincial House and Infirmary in Littleton, N.H. Trottier was born in Barre, Vt., on Oct. 25, 1926. She was the daughter of Maurice and Helene Naude. Sister St. Dorothy professed her vows with her religious congregation on July 23, 1945. During her 63 years of religious life, Sister Dorothy, as she has been known to most, served in various missions in Champlain and Morrisonville, N.Y.; Newport and Barre, Vt.; and Colebrook and Littleton, N.H. She dedicated much of her religious life to education in elementary schools, being an exceptionally talented artist. In 1992, Sister Dorothy joined the community at Mount Sacred Heart and ministered in a number of ways to the sick - especially reading for the sight impaired and faithfully serving breakfast for the Sisters of the infirmary. Over the years Sister Dorothy enjoyed sacristan duties, also using her artistic skills for decorating appropriately for feasts and celebrations. She was beloved by many in Littleton and served St. Rose of Lima Parish as a volunteer, and for many years did the calligraphy for sacramental certificates. She visited the sick and consoled the bereaved. She was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Bellefleur #1208, leading the group in its opening and closing prayer. Sister Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, her brother Marcel, and three brothers-in-law. She is survived by her brother Benoit, three sisters - Fernande Bisson, Jeanne d'Arc Love, and her twin Dorothy King. Besides her sisters in the religious community, Sister Dorothy is survived by several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at Mount Sacred Heart Provincial House Chapel, 226 Grove Street on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 4 to 8:30 p.m., and Thursday, Jan. 8, 9 to 11 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Spring interment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, Newport, Vt. Jeanette A. Miller

, 85, of Canterbury Inn and formerly of the St. Johnsbury House and Brightlook Apartments, died Jan. 6, 2009, at DHMC in Lebanon, N.H., of multiple organ failure. Jeanette was born in South Portland, Maine, on May 25, 1923, one of five children of David and Ruth (Goss) Donaldson. After graduating from Lyndon Institute in 1941, she entered nursing school at Brightlook Hospital. Marriage to her high school sweetheart, Harold Miller, on May 31, 1943, in Kansas ended her nursing training. After the war ended, they returned to Vermont. She took great pride as a homemaker who actively raised her two children and tended her homes in Springfield and Brattleboro, supporting her husband's career in education. Jeanette faithfully attended school events and encouraged her children and their friends while keeping fresh baked desserts in the kitchen. Her interests, besides providing a loving home, were antiques, birds, African violets, walking, big band music, knitting, and reading. Jeanette leaves her two children, a daughter Cathy Bennett and husband Gary of Irasburg, and her son Dr. Bradford Miller and wife Dr. Wanda Venters of Aurora, Colo.; four grandchildren, Alyssa Bennett, Erin, Jon and Kelly Miller; one sister, Pauli Converse of Newport; two brothers, David Donaldson of California and Harvey Donaldson of New Hampshire; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband on April 5, 2000; her 13-year-old grandson Nathan Bennett on June 16, 1993; and her sister Arlene Foster. Jeanette's children would like to thank the following people or organizations for all they've done for their mother: Canterbury Inn, St. Johnsbury House community, Jane, St. Johnsbury firemen, CALEX personnel, ER and NVRH staff, Steve, local taxi drivers, the staff at DHMC, and posthumously Dr. John Elliott. , age 75, of Lyndon Center, passed away in the comfort of his own home Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009 surrounded by his family. Thomas was born Sept. 22, 1933 in New haven, Conn., the son of the late George and Rose Keithan. Thomas was a veteran of the Korean war. He worked for 20 years at St. J. Trucking where he was an amazing mechanic and assistant foreman. He retired from Sunflower Carriers in Deland, Fla., in 1999. He enjoyed camping, dancing, and NASCAR racing. He was Jeff Gordons biggest fan. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family who he loved and adored. Thomas is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years Clarice Keithan, 73, of Lyndon Center; his four children, Thomas Keithan, Jr., and wife Julie of Sheffield, Wendell Keithan and Sally of Shoreham, Dawn Blodgett and husband Fred of Lyndon Center, Howard Keithan and wife Ivy of Lyndon Center; a brother-in-law Dwight Davis and wife Caroline of Kirby, a sister-in-law, Lisa Turecek and husband Jim, their son Austin of Ansonia, Conn.; his grandchildren Heather, Scott, Davey, Emily, Luke, Vincent, Nicholas, Jenna, Adam, and Sadee Rose; numerous great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly. Thomas shared a special love for his granddaughter Victoria who, along with her daughter, Madison, was his primary caregiver. The family would like to thank his favorite nurse, Sarah Sharett for all her support and the special bond she shared with Tom. A memorial service wil be held at the Lyndon Bible Church Saturday, Jan. 10, 11 a.m. Join us as we celebrate of Thomas E. , of Penacook, N.H., and formerly of Lisbon, N.H., passed away peacefully on Jan. 6, 2009, at Concord Hospital in Concord, N.H., with her children by her side. Pauline, daughter of Adam and Emma (Lemay) Prech, was born on April 16, 1927, in Bellows Falls, Vt. Pauline graduated from Lisbon High School in 1945 and worked at Lisbon Shoe Company for many years. After moving to Manchester, N.H., Pauline worked as a Nurses Aid for many years at Elliot Hospital in Manchester. Her interests included knitting, sewing, gardening, growing house plants and collecting baseball cards. She had a passion for baseball and was an avid Yankees fan. She also loved animals and enjoyed the companionship of her cat, Dusty. Above all, she loved her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was generous in giving of herself to her family.
