, 87, of Kenyann Drive, Wolfeboro, N.H., died July 21, 2009, at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro. Patricia was born on June 16, 1922 in Lancaster, N.H., the daughter of the late Trevor and Edith (Currier) Matson. She grew up in Vermont and Massachusetts and graduated from Medford High School. During WWII she joined the Cadet Nurses Corp. Mrs. Claverie graduated from Cambridge City Hospital School of Nursing and then worked at Weeks Memorial Hospital in Lancaster and the Massachusettes Blood Bank. In 1952 she married her first husband Preston MacMillan of Littleton, N.H., who died in 1978. In 1984 she married Sumner Claverie of Wolfeboro, who died in 1990. Survivors include a sister Nancy Sullivan of Peabody, Mass., several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours are Friday, July 24, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Baker-Gagne Funeral and Cremation Service 85 Mill St., Wolfeboro. Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 27, at the Pillsbury Funeral Home located at 101 Union Street in Littleton. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery in Littleton.

, 84, of Belmont, N.H., formerly of Wall Township, N.J., died on July 22, 2009, at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, N.J., with his loving family by his side. Mr. Winans moved to New Hampshire in 1996 and worked in the Maintenance Department at the New Hampton School before retiring in 2004. Mr. Winans was predeceased by his beloved wife Marilyn of 52 years and his loving son Thomas. Surviving him are his daughters Elizabeth Fusco of New Jersey, Bonnie Winans-Martin of New Hampshire, and Julie Winans of Georgia. Also surviving are three sisters, a brother, his daughter-in-law Marilyn G. Winans and his very special grandchildren Sarah, Ruth, and Rachel. Burial services will be held in New Jersey under the direction of the Johnson McGinley Funeral Home Wall Township, donations in his memory can be made to the Saint Francis Rehabilitation Center 406 Court Street, Laconia, NH 03246.

, 52, of Breer Road, went to Heaven from her home on Friday, July 24, 2009. Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Robert and Tomiko Modracek on Oct. 6, 1956, she spent her young life in Los Angeles, Calif., before marrying her husband, Bradford Towle in April 1982. In 1990, after having two children they moved to Barre. She was the Vice President of Human Resources for the Passumpsic Savings Bank. Among her many hobbies, she participated on several committees, including VABIR, Vermont Parent Association in Rutland, and the Human Resources Group for Banking. She also enjoyed traveling to see family, gardening, and taking long walks with her dog Roxy. She was a member of Barre Congregational Church. She leaves behind her husband, daughters, Lauren, 25, and Lindsay, 23, her mother and her sister, Peggy. Her life will be celebrated Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the Barre Congregational Church at 2 p.m. Friends may call at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home on Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m. All are welcome. , 82, died Friday, July 24, 2009, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, N.H. Mrs. Rexford was born in Whitefield on May 12, 1927, the daughter of Asa C. and Gertrude (Blakeslee) Smith. Her mother predeceased her at a young age and her father later married her stepmother Rose A. (Paquette) Smith. Marilyn was a lifetime resident of Whitefield and graduate of Whitefield High School. She married Wendell C. Rexford of Whitefield and through the years worked as a bookkeeper for his various businesses. She was also employed for a time at Mell & Quincy, Whitefield, but the work she loved most was waiting tables at the Spaulding Inn, Whitefield. Many of her interests included cooking, canning, reading, crosswords, bingo, bird watching and gardening. Her greatest enjoyment came from being a mother and grandmother and being in the company of family and friends. She also enjoyed time with Wendell at their winter home in Spring Hill, Florida. Marilyn was a longtime member of the Advent Christian Church, Whitefield. Family members include two sons, Carroll W. "Butch" Rexford and his wife Marion of Whitefield, Larry D. Rexford and his wife Kathy of Whitefield; a daughter Kimberly R. DesRuisseaux and her husband Marc of Auburn, NH; six grandchildren, Sharon Duffy, Kelli Bradbury, Bryan Rexford, Keith Rexford, Alexandra DesRuisseaux, Danielle DesRuisseaux; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Wendell predeceased her on June 11, of this year. Her father and stepmother along with a brother, Hugh Smith, and a sister, Virginia Mayhew, also predeceased her. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday afternoon and evening, July 28, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at the Advent Christian Church in Whitefield. The Rev. Lou Going, pastor will officiate. , of Corey's Mobile Home Park, Littleton, N.H., passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Littleton Regional Hospital. Born Dec. 25, 1945, in Knoxville, Iowa, Greg was the son of Clyde and Eva (Moon) Foster. Greg graduated from Knoxville High School prior to moving to NH in the mid 1970s. Greg was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching several sports and following the NASCAR circuit. Greg worked for 40 years as a meat cutter, for various food stores and chains, including Grand Union, P & C and, most recently, the Littleton Food Co-op. Greg is being remembered by his many customers and co-workers as a friendly and outgoing person, whose primary concern was for customer satisfaction. Greg was predeceased by his father, mother, and his daughter, Colleen Foster. Greg leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Cindy (Pageau) Foster and his son, Corey Foster, both of Littleton, N.H.; his children Kelly (Foster) Adams, Padriac Foster, Michael Foster and Shawn Foster; several grandchildren, one great-grandchild, many nieces and nephews and one brother, Arlen Foster of Lineville, Iowa.

, a Lyndonville resident, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009, at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. He was 89. The son of Wilbur Francis and Emma Ada (Vancour) Morse, he married Doris John on May 9, 1942, in Lyndonville. She predeceased him Sept. 20, 1982. He later married Hilda Clark on Feb. 14, 1986, in Lyndonville. Joseph served in the U S Army Air Force during WWII. He worked for Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut for 30 years. Following retirement he returned to Lyndonville in 1984. Joseph is survived by his wife Hilda of Lyndonville; daughter Patricia Gay Morse of Yalesville, Conn.; daughter Sharon Ann Wielgosh and husband Robert of Yalesville, their children, Jamie Rielly and husband Donald of Meriden, Conn., and their daughter, Morgan Rose, Keri Anne Nash and husband Matt of Watertown, Conn., Robert John Wielgosh of New York City, N.Y., and Ashley Rose Weilgosh of Yalesville; son, Gary Joseph Morse and wife Doreen of Meriden, their children, Steven Morse and wife Michelle, Gregory Morse and wife Nicole both of Massachusetts; three sisters, Katherine Pixley of Colorado, Maidene Whitney of St. Johnsbury, Annabelle Sullivan of Gilman; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers and one sister. Visiting hours will be Thursday, July 30, noon until 2 p.m., with services following. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

She enjoyed crafts, needlework and quilting. Nina is survived by her husband, Eugeniusz of Barton; a son, Eugeniusz Milewska and wife Linda of New York; five grandchildren including a special granddaughter, Wiesia Milewska of Lyndonville. , 77, Springfield, Vt., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 23, 2009. Marjorie was born on June 27, 1932, in Lyndonville, Vt., attending school there and graduating in 1952. She was the seventh of eight children born to Louise and Burleigh Drown. Marjorie married "Bud" Buxton in 1952. He predeceased her in 1996. She is survived by her six children, John and wife Laurie of South Carolina, Howard "Jay" and wife Carla of South Carolina, Michael and wife Regina of Sprinfield, Robert and wife Ginger of South Carolina, Charlene Bacon and Mark, and Regina Snyder and Charles of Springfield; two sisters and one brother, all of Lyndonville, Mona Colby, Cynthia Johns, and Donald. She leaves seven sisters-in-law, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 69 nieces and newphews and uncountable friends. Marjorie spent the last eight years living at the Springfield Health and Rehab Center in, Springfield, being cared for by many of the young people who were chums with her children from school and the neighborhood, or children of her friends from the Park Street Bowling Alley. , a former Lyndonville resident, passed away, Monday, July 27, 2009, at her home in Massachussets. Born March 2, 1918, in Barnet to William T. and Elizabeth (Placey) Surridge she attended school in Waterford and graduated from the 8th grade. In 1935 she married Oliver L. Fisher, he predeceased her in 1983. She enjoyed cooking and watching the birds and animals. Alice worked for Tenny Farms in Northfield, Mass., Erving Paper Mills in Erving, Mass., Pine Knoll Nursing Home in Lyndonville, and ran a Community Home for the Elderly and Disabled for 19 years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Post 10038 for 15 years. Over the years she attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, United Methodist Church, Lyndonville First Congregational Church. Alice is survived by her children, Oliver K. Fisher of Georgia, Calvin and Erla Fisher of Massachussets, James and Sandy Fisher of Maine, Diane and Harold Burrington of Maine; a special son-in-law, Richard Zuron, and a special niece, Debra Zuron both of Massachussets; a sister Nellie Surridge of New Hampshire; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Clarice Zuron, son, Allen Fisher, two grandchildren, Little Butchy Fisher, and Peter Fisher. Visiting hours will be Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Pearsons Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Lyndonville. Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Danville Green Cemetery, Danville. , 87, formerly of Glendale, NY, died Tuesday morning July 28, 2009, at the Pines Rehabilitation and Health Ctr. in Lyndonville, Vt. She was born Nov. 6, 1921, in Heidenheim, Germany the daughter of Eugene and Katherine (Rau) Berthold. In 1950 she married Henry Slater. He predeceased her in 1993. Ellie was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She also volunteered at Martin Luther High School's Thrift Shop in Maspeth, N.Y., for several years. In 2004 she moved to Vermont to be near her family. Survivors include two children, Karen Brown and husband William of Kirby, Vt., and James Slater and wife Patricia of Massapequa Park, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Keri Anne Slater, and Justin Slater; a brother, Henry Berthold and wife Frances of Mamaroneck, N.Y.; and a sister, Elsie Kopsick of Franklin Square, N.Y. A short Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 29, at 2 p.m., at the Guibord Funeral Home with the Rev. Joel Battaglia officiating. , 69, of Wilton, N.Y., died at home on July 30, 2009, after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Lyndon, Vt., the son of the late Raymond and Alma Peak Noyes. He was a self employed carpenter in Vermont. Later he worked as a carpenter for Boyd Associates, Greenville, N.C., after retirement. He also worked for Environmental Drilling in South Glens Falls, N.Y. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was predeceased by his daughters, Sheryl Noyes and Veronica Noyes, his son-in-law, Rick Smith, his brother, Lee Noyes, and father-in-law, LeRoy Tanner. Survivors include his wife, Sybol Tanner Noyes; his daughters, Kimberly (Duane) Drew of Richmond, Va., and Laura Smith of Lyndonville, Vt.; his brother, Stanley Noyes of Sutton, Vt.; his grandchildren Abigale Drew, Alex Drew, Tyler Smith and Sydney Smith; and his mother-in-law, Alberta Tanner. passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington at the age of 94. She was born on June 21, 1915, in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Alfred and Mary (McKinney) Tanner. She was educated in the schools of Portland, South Portland and the University of Maine, graduating in the class of 1936 with a B.A. Degree, and later took advanced courses at LSC and the University of Vermont. While a student at the University of Maine she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority and the Alumnae chapters in Portland, Maine, and Clearwater, Fla. Alfreda taught school in Flagstaff, Brooks and Freeport, Maine. In July of 1941 she married John W. Black. They lived for several years in Bath, Maine. In 1952 they moved to St. Johnsbury where Alfreda taught Language Arts and Social Studies at the St. Johnsbury Junior High from 1954-1964. She also taught French at Lyndon Institute from 1964-1974. While living in St. Johnsbury she was a member of the North Congregational Church, the College Club, St. J Woman's Club and the Retired Teachers' Association. Alfreda was also active in the NVRH Auxiliary and a docent at the Art Gallery. She spent eighteen winters in Largo, Fla., and was an associate member of the Church of the Isles at Indian Rocks Beach. Also she was a charter member of the Emblem Club at the Elks Club. Alfreda was interested in writing and was the recipient of several writing awards. Her other hobbies were reading, traveling, knitting and visiting her grandchildren. She always liked meeting her former students and "catching up" on their activities and progress - many of whom are now grandparents, too. Also she was "intellectually active" in her retirement. She played bridge regularly, and belonged to the "Thursday afternoon" club which was a group who liked to study a subject, write a paper on it and share it with the group. She did that for several years, and kept writing until recently. She is survived by her two daughters, Joan Palmer and husband David of Burlington, and Barbara Destino and husband Robert of Mission Viejo, Calif.; her grandchildren, Jason Palmer and wife Kirsten, and Susan Berger and husband Joerg of Vermont, and Stephen and Christopher Destino of California; two great-grandchildren, Tessa Palmer and Lukas Berger. Other relatives include Judy Tanner and children Stacey Sullivan and husband Kevin of Massachusetts, and Stephen Tanner and wife Sophia of Washington DC; a special friend, Carol Fisher of Virginia; and several cousins and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her husband John W. Black in 2002; a brother Alfred Tanner Jr. in 1984; and a nephew, Michael Tanner. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 2, at 1 p.m. at the North Congregational Church with the Rev. Jay Sprout officiating. Burial in Mount Pleasant Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
