Beverly Jeanne Elliott Webb Fletcher
....show
went to heaven on July 22, 2009, after a long period of declining health at the age of 87. She resided at the Winship Green Nursing Center in Bath, Maine. She was born on Oct. 20, 1921, in Muskegon, Mich., to her parents Glenn and Florence Elliott. She was predeceased by her parents, Glenn and Florence Elliott of Michigan; her first husband, William Glenn Webb, Jr. in 1978; her oldest son David Elliott Webb in 1978; and her second husband Eugene Cogswell Fletcher in 2002. Beverly is survived by her sister, Barbara Gibner, and her husband, Ernest Gibner of Muskegon, Mich.; her middle son, William Bruce Webb and his wife Mary Webb of Bath, Maine; her youngest son Paul Andrew Webb and his wife Mary Lou Webb of Vermont; her granddaughter Galla Lee Webb Artiaga and her husband Darrell R. Artiaga and their son (her great-grandson) Darrell Nicholas Artiaga of California. Galla Lee Webb Artiaga is the daughter of William Bruce Webb and Mary Faith Pettingill Webb. In 1939, she won the title of Miss Muskegon and was a special runner-up for Miss Michigan. Beverly was a faithful church member all her life, but became a Christian in 1980, when she was born again by placing her faith and trust in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. It is for this reason, being a sinner saved by God's grace, that she is now in heaven. She walks with God. She enjoyed the beaches on Lake Michigan with her family in the summer and also going perch fishing on the Great Lakes in a motor boat with her family. Fish fries were a common event in the summer, when her children were young at home. She loved cooking, baking bread and cookies for holidays, sewing and knitting, taking active roles in her children's schools in the PTA and band parents, as well as championing causes in local politics for the Republican party. She was also an avid reader of the Bible as well as a vast selection of many classic and contemporary literary authors. Beverly, together with her husband Bill, taught her children how to pray, how to regard people of all races as being equal and of great value, the sanctity of life and the preciousness of family. She was a great support and aid to her husband Bill in his career with Brunswick Corporation until his retirement from the company after 35 years at which time they moved to Florida. It would be three years later that she lost both her oldest son David and her husband in separate events in the year 1978. After that, she moved to Maine to be near her middle son Bruce with his wife and her granddaughter Galla. She would remarry in 1980 to a widower Eugene Fletcher, who passed away in 2002. It would be a couple of years later that she entered the Plant Home Assisted Living Facility for four years, then moved to The Winship Green Nursing Center in Bath, Maine. She lived in several states, when her husband Bill was promoted and transferred with each promotion in his company. The family left Michigan in 1963 and moved to St. Louis, Mo., and stayed there 14 months. They then moved to Harrisburg, Pa., and lived there for two and one-half years, when Bill was promoted and transferred for the last time to East Brunswick, N.J., until his retirement in 1975, when they then moved to Florida. Beverly was a good, faithful and true wife all her days. She was an honorable mother who loved and cared for her family with great devotion. Her children grew in wisdom and stature in the Lord Jesus as each in the fullness of time received Christ as their Lord and Savior. She was a rock and a foundation of love in the raising of her children and a fierce defender of her family. She will be greatly missed and treasured in the memories of her children and friends. She leaves a legacy of honorable living, good deeds, her precious faith in her Lord, and two surviving sons, one of whom, Paul, is a Christian minister in Vermont and Bruce teaches Bible Studies in Bath, Maine. There will be no funeral services. There will be a memorial service at a date yet to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to Head to Head Ministries, Inc., P. O. Box 711, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819-0711. Head to Head Ministries is a Christian outreach to brain injury survivors and caregivers worldwide.
