, 89, of Newport died September 29, 2008, in Newport. He was born in Island Pond on January 10, 1919, a son of Earl and Annie (Ladd) Applebee. He married Ruth Hill, who predeceased him in 1987. On December 6, 1988, he married Elizabeth Cargill, who survives him. He was a member of American Legion Brighton Post 80, the Rural Letter Carriers Association, and Christ Episcopal Church in Island Pond. He was a former lister for the town of Brighton and a former member of the Brighton Fire Department. He is survived by his son Carlton Applebee; by his daughter Noreen Benjamin; by daughter-in-law Barbara Applebee; by grandchildren; by numerous great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Dexter and Keith; by his brother Andrew; and by two sisters, Evelyn and Eva. Funeral services were held at Christ Episcopal Church October 4 with the Reverend Brendan Whittaker officiating. Interment followed at Lakeside Cemetery in Island Pond. , 72, of Derby died October 2, 2008, in Newport. Mr. Favreau was born October 17, 1935, in Derby, a son of Honore and Marie (Poirier) Favreau. He married Frances Emslie on July 19, 1958. She predeceased him on April 6. He was a machine operator at Newport Furniture Parts. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, bowling, gardening, carpentry, and woodworking. He is survived by children: Edna Marie Dickerman and her husband, Richard, of Churchbusca, Indiana, Daniel Robert Favreau of Derby, Robert Steven Favreau and his wife, Tina, of Derby, Eric Sylva Favreau and his wife, Dawn, of Newport, and Christie Duquette and her husband, Ryan, of Orleans; by grandchildren: Andrew Curtis Dickerman, Ashley Brooke Favreau, Sean Robert Favreau, Felicity Favreau, Hunter James Duquette, Mara Duquette, and Ezrah Favreau; and by brothers: Elia Favreau and his companion, Betsy, of Derby, Roger Favreau of Newport Center, and Camille Favreau of Holland. He was predeceased by two brothers, Rene and Paul; and by a sister, Violet Chaput. Funeral services were held October 7 at the Derby United Church with the Reverend Fred Barker officiating. , 99, of Orleans died October 1, 2008, in Orleans. Mrs. Hardy was born November 16, 1908, in Franconia, New Hampshire, a daughter of George and Kate (Roe) McDanolds. In 1935 she married Forrest Hardy, who predeceased her in 1999. She received her bachelor's degree in teaching from the University of New Hampshire. In 1930 she began her teaching career at Orleans High School, where she taught English and French. She took time off for her children and then taught 20 more years at the junior high level in Glover, Barton, and Essex Junction. She retired from the Essex school system in 1972. She was an active member of Orleans Federated Church, Orleans Historical Society, the Book and Thimble Club, and the church's Women's Society. She was a trustee of the Old Stone House Museum. She started playing the organ for churches at age 13; she stopped playing a few years ago at Orleans Federated Church. She was a rug braider and made many rugs for church bazaars for 30 years at the rate of four rugs per year. She is survived by her son Steven Hardy and his companion, Linda Russell, of Rumford, Maine; by her daughter Diana Mayer and her husband, Barry, of Shaftsbury; by seven grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Frances Hemenway; by her brother Roe McDanolds; and by her sister Martha Frizzell. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. , 55, of Muscatine, Illinois, died September 6, 2008, in Muscatine. Mr. Mason was born May 9, 1953, in Newport, a son of Richard A. and Lois Ann (Larocque) Mason. He married Beverly Smice Martin of Rock Island, Illinois, on March 12, 1975. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Muscatine and a former member of the Eagles Club. He was employed with Boeing Aviation at the time of his death. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most especially, playing with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he will be deeply missed by his two daughters, Cynthia Ann and Melissa Jean Mason, both of Puyallup, Washington; three sons: Dennis, Brian, and Michael, all of Vermont; six stepchildren: Jeffrey Martin and his wife, Gwen, Matthew Martin and his wife, Laura, Harry Martin and his wife, Rachel, and Diana Broderson and her husband, Rodger, all of Muscatine, Thomas Martin and his wife, Carla, of Mahomet, Illinois, and Susan Blair and her husband, Gregory, of Lynnville, Illinois; two grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry Mason, and his wife Yogi, of Albany. He was predeceased by his parents; by a brother; and by a sister. A memorial service was held at the First Baptist Church of Muscatine September 12 with the Reverend Don Swanson officiating. Burial was in the family lot in the Albany Village Cemetery October 4.

, 79, of Newport died suddenly October 2, 2008, in Newport. Mr. Monti was born November 4, 1928, in Queens, New York, a son of Umberto and Pai (Salvitori) Monti. He was a cabinetmaker with his family business in New York. He is survived by his wife, Lissette Accetta, of Newport; by his daughter Christine Monti of Patchogue, New York; by a stepdaughter and stepgrandchildren; by his brother Albert Monti of South Carolina; by two sisters, Ida Monti and Rose Monti of Yonkers, New York; and by brother-in-law Martin Boissonneault of Prinaville, Quebec. Funeral services were held October 7 at the Curtis-Britch Converse-Rushford Memorial Chapel in Newport with the Reverend Philip Brannon officiating. Interment followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in Newport.

, 61, of East Charleston died peacefully September 30, 2008, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Pratt was born August 6, 1947, in Brockton, Massachusetts, a son of Charles and Ella (Larkin) Pratt. On October 26, 1989, he married Leila Howland Givens, who survives him. He entered the United States Air Force on June 26, 1965, and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged December 20, 1968. He was employed by Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury. He is survived by his wife, Leila Pratt, of East Charleston; by four children: Amy Syiek and her husband, John, of Littleton, Massachusetts, Laurie Zupkofska and her husband, James, of Weymouth, Massachusetts, Olen Givens of Brattleboro, and Ivy Demos of Maine; by grandson William Givens-Hall; by two sisters, Dorothy Moore and her husband, Frank, of Grabill, Indiana, and Carol Treakle and her husband, Paul, of Whitestone, Virginia; by sister-in-law Christine Pratt of Florida; and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Pratt Jr. A graveside service was held October 6 at Hillside Cemetery in Island Pond with the Reverend Laurence Wall officiating. Full military honors were observed. , 45, of Newport died suddenly October 2, 2008, in Newport. Mr. La'Mar-Rogers was born August 1, 1963, in Providence, Rhode Island, beloved son of Mary (Stokes) Rogers and Louis Rogers. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1981 and later from New Hampshire Community Technical College. He was an operator for the CRMI call center of Newport. He enjoyed fishing and reading comic books. He is survived by two children, Phil Giard of Newport and Tiara Graham of Providence; by his mother, Mary Rogers, of Newport, Rhode Island; by his fiancée, Tammy Seguin, of Newport; by three brothers: Louis Rogers and his wife, Nellie, of El Paso, Texas, Calvin Rogers and his wife, Monica, of Newport, Rhode Island, and Claud La'Mar of Providence; by five sisters: Marcie Graves of Newport, Rhode Island, Gloria Moss and her husband, Walter, of St. Louis, Missouri, Gwendolyn Bassett and her husband, Bobby, of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Yvonne Glover of Middletown, Rhode Island, and Veronica La'Mar of Providence; and by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. , 46, of North Troy died October 15, 2008, at his home. Mr. Taylor was born July 8, 1962, a son of Hilda Ferguson and Donald Taylor in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He served in the California National Guard in the early 1980s. He was a truck driver for almost 30 years. He had just started working for Architectural Interior Products in Williston as a computer programmer in April when he became ill. He is survived by his friend and caregiver, Patricia Prue, and her family: her son Chad Prue and his wife, Vicky; her daughters Tisha Schneider and her husband, Peter, and Teri Broussard and her husband, Jake; her grandchildren, who were Mr. Taylor's joy and fishing buddies: Shawn Jr. and Brandy McCarthy, Ashley Prue, Sasha Prue, Audry and Mario Houle, Samara and Zachary Schneider, and Wyatt, Seth, and Libby Prue, and great-grandson Sebastian McCarthy. He is also survived by his son Nicholas Steller of Oxnard, California; by his mother, Hilda Webster, of Oxnard; and by his aunt Sandra Ferguson of Oxnard. He was predeceased by his father, Donald Charles Taylor. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. , 54, of Midland, Michigan, died October 12, 2008, in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Ms. Lucas was born September 15, 1954, a daughter of Jules and Albertine (Twofoot) Fortin. She was employed at Wal-Mart in food preparation. She enjoyed gardening and loved her small animals, especially her pet bird, an African gray named Pretty Boy, and her two parakeets, Sky and Livvie. She is survived by her three children: Angel Wakefield and her husband, David, of Tampa, Florida, Annie Herr and her husband, John, of Bolton Valley, and Amie Lizotte-Lucas and her husband, Curt, of Derby; by her lifelong companion, Richard Shearer, of Midland; by grandchildren: Danielle, Amanda, and Clarissa Wakefield, SkylerLizotte, and Angel and Olivia Lucas; by brothers: Ernest Fortin and his wife, Rolanda, of Franklin, Dennis Fortin and his wife, Jackie, of Newport Center, Paul Fortin of Derby, and Roger Fortin of St. Albans; by her sister Mary Ann and her husband, Roland; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
